Democratic Congressional Candidate Indicted For Fraud And Theft

The democrats plan to retake the House in 2018 just took another hit. They’ve already lost some of their “top-tier” challengers to the pervalanche and now one of their rising stars in Virginia is looking at a federal fraud indictment. Don’t worry though, this particular candidate is black and she assures us that this is a matter of racial discrimination.

Democrat Shaun Brown is running against Republican incumbent Scott Taylor for Virginia’s 2nd Congressional district seat. Sure, she ran against him in 2016 and lost by 23 points, but this time she’s has a campaign with much better financing. More on that in a second.

The Daily Press reports however, that her 2018 campaign may have a few problems. A federal grand jury indicted her on charges of fraud and theft of government property. It seems that she runs a program with her mother that feeds children and/or steals money from the federal government:

The indictment alleges that Brown and others with JOBS Community Outreach Development Corp. filed fraudulent claims with the Summer Food Service Program in 2012, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia said.

The indictment says that Brown directed JOBS staff to inflate the number of children actually fed and to falsify documents in order to obtain additional money, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

She has been charged with wire fraud and theft of government property, and faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison if convicted.

For her part, Brown says that the USDA is discriminating against her and her mother, presumably because they are black. She has filed a $10 million lawsuit against the government agency and her biggest piece of proof the feds are involved in racism is because they wouldn’t reimburse her when she spent $625,000 to purchase a restaurant. Those racist bastards!

Actually the USDA had listed Brown’s organization as a “high risk auditee” because even a bloated government bureaucracy recognizes bullshit when they see it.

Brown’s lawyer thinks the federal indictment is retaliation for her lawsuit against the USDA, calling the the timing of the charges “unusual.”

“And why would they do this right before Christmas?” asked the lawyer.

Yeah, because everyone gets a free pass for fraud and theft over Christmas, right? Is Brown and her lawyer accusing the government of being a part of the war on Christmas over these indictments? Actually, that’s smart. If the race card doesn’t work, they can always play the religion card, though it would be more effective if she were a Muslim.

Back to Brown’s campaign to steal a House seat away from the Republicans. In her FEC filing it shows that she had raised $713,491 by the end of October. That’s not bad, but it turns out only $2,750 came from outside sources and the rest was from her. Yup, she gave herself $710,741. Gee, I wonder where that money came from. Even stranger is that her campaign reports no cash on hand. I have a feeling there may be even more indictments headed Brown’s way.

Brown is actually the perfect democrat. She’s really good a taking other people’s money and wasting it on bullshit and she blames all of her self-inflicted problems on discrimination. If she can beat the federal charges and overcome a 23-point hole, she should be a welcomed asset to the Democratic Party.
