Dawkins: Muslims Aren’t Being Oppressed By Critics, ‘Muslims Are Oppressed by Islam’

11 Aug, 2017
11 Aug, 2017

On Friday’s broadcast of HBO’s “Real Time,” author Richard Dawkins argued that Muslims aren’t being oppressed by critics of Islam like himself, but that they are oppressed by Islam.

Host Bill Maher and Dawkins talked about their mutual dis-invitation from speeches at UC-Berkeley and a radio station canceling an interview with Dawkins.

Dawkins said that there is “an epidemic that’s going on of people running scared from open speech,” and terrified of things that might be offensive.

He added, “I think that this radio station and these universities, they are on our side. We’re on their side. Now, I was de-platformed specifically because of what I was alleged to have said about Islam. I think that the reason they did it was probably a laudable motive, they are on the side of oppressed minorities. They think that Muslims are an oppressed minority, oppressed by people like us. Actually, of course, Muslims are oppressed by Islam.” He later argued that Muslims who don’t oppress women or gay people are being persecuted by those who do and “That’s where the persecution comes from.”

Maher added that “criticism of a religion is not the same thing as bigotry.”

Report: Megyn Kelly’s Co-Workers ‘Outraged’ at ‘Diva-Like’ Host

Report: Megyn Kelly’s Co-Workers ‘Outraged’ at ‘Diva-Like’ Host

11 Aug, 2017
11 Aug, 2017

Megyn Kelly’s morning show has not even started, but her NBC co-workers are reportedly already “outraged” at Kelly’s “diva-like” behavior and puzzled about why the network keeps throwing money at her.

According to the New York Post, NBC is reportedly “sparing no expense” on Kelly even though she arguably dragged down much of the network during her first two months there as her Sunday newsmagazine show was usually NBC’s weakest link. Due to terrible ratings, Kelly’s Sunday show was pulled at least two episodes sooner than planned, and there are questions about whether the Sunday newsmagazine show that exposed her vapidness will even return after the football season. Viewers promptly returned to NBC to watch a rerun of Dateline as soon as Kelly went off the air.

The Today show franchise hitched its star to Kelly’s wagon by naming her morning show Megyn Kelly Today. And Kelly, who was known as “Me-Again” Kelly at Fox News, is reportedly pissing off her colleagues with her “diva-like” behavior

While on her five-day tour of affiliate stations to minimize the potential damage she will do to the Today show franchise, Kelly is reportedly flying and living the high life “on a charter jet with a support staff of five or six people, including a hairstylist, a makeup artist, a publicist and a security detail.”

“People are outraged over her divalike ways,” an NBC insider told “Page Six.” “They wonder, ‘When does NBC stop throwing money at her?’ ”

NBC is also reportedly spending lavishly to provide Kelly with a live audience for her show, which debuts in September.

YouTube’s ‘Diamond and Silk’ Believe They Were Demonetized for Trump Support

YouTube’s ‘Diamond and Silk’ Believe They Were Demonetized for Trump Support

11 Aug, 2017
11 Aug, 2017

YouTube allegedly demonetized the vast majority of videos posted on “The Viewer’s View” channel, hosted by Diamond and Silk. The duo believes this was due to their vocal support of President Trump.

Tune in to The Viewer’s View, and you will find a collection of video blog posts with a loudly outspoken conservative-oriented theme that play like especially emphatic clips from the ABC show upon which they are riffing. Everyone from Kathy Griffin to CNN is fair game for the boisterous online duet of Diamond and Silk.

On August 10, Diamond and Silk took to Twitter to question the sudden demonetization of their video series, and they are pretty certain they know the reasoning behind the decision:

Diamond and Silk believe the demonetization smacks of “censorship,” and is “a Bias Method used to Silence our Conservative Voices.” They have also questioned, “how was it ok to monetize our videos for the past two years and now those same videos are no longer eligible for monetization?” According to their own observation, it “appears that @YouTube is trying to determine what people can & cannot see & hear by removing debate, diversity & a difference of opinion.”

Their criticism continued with the threat of legal action…

…And was followed by retweets of apparent support from both Sarah Palin and Sean Hannity:

YouTube has yet to comment on whether the accusations are true, or if it is another symptom of advertisers who do not want to be associated with political controversy. Should they officially comment on the matter, we will update the story as appropriate.

Street Artist Posts Anti-Google Ads Outside Company Offices Following Damore Firing

Street Artist Posts Anti-Google Ads Outside Company Offices Following Damore Firing

11 Aug, 2017
11 Aug, 2017

Right-wing street artist Sabo has posted anti-Google advertisements outside the company’s offices in Los Angeles following the firing of former employee James Damore.

One advert, plastered on a bench, featured a modified Google logo that read “Goolag,” and had a fake search bar below that said, “Search for diversity of thought somewhere else.”

Other posters featured the iconic “think different” image of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs juxtaposed against an image of Google CEO Sundar Pichai and the label “not so much.”

Street artist Sabo quickly took credit for the work, making a series of anti-Google tweets to accompany the posters.

Former Google employee James Damore was fired from his position at Google this week after publishing a viewpoint diversity manifesto, which examined reasons why there are fewer women in tech jobs and called for more ideological diversity in Google’s workplace.

In a memo, Google CEO Sundar Pichai claimed Damore had advanced “harmful gender stereotypes in our workplace,” despite the fact that numerous psychologists, male and female, deemed the manifesto to be scientifically accurate.

Over 50 percent of Google employees are reported to have disagreed with the firing of Damore, and even a columnist for The New York Times called for Pichai’s resignation following the incident.

Just this week, Sabo also plastered “F*ck Zuck 2020” posters around California, after it was reported that Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg had hired a top Hillary Clinton campaign strategist.

Sabo has previously taken aim at Hillary ClintonHollywoodCaitlyn JennerKim Jong-UnLeonardo DiCaprio, and various anti-Trump celebrities who claimed they would leave the country if he were elected.

MSNBC Host Suggests Focus on Opioid Crisis is Racist

Talking to NBC News Medical Correspondent Dr. John Torres on Friday about the Trump administration promising aggressive action on the nationwide opioid crisis, MSNBC anchor Craig Melvin worried that the focus on the deadly drug abuse epidemic was based on race:

And, again, this is truly a national tragedy. But, you know, two decades ago in this country, you had lots of folks who look like me who were dying in D.C. and Chicago and L.A. in greater numbers than what we’re seeing right now as a result of the crack cocaine epidemic that plagued this country. It seems as if we are treating this particular drug crisis differently than we treated that one. Why?

Somewhat taken aback by the implication, Torres replied: “And I think we are treating it differently, and I think it’s because of where it’s hitting and who it’s hitting….And the big thing you have to remember is an overdose and an overdose death is an overdose and an overdose death, regardless of what it’s from, what kind of drug.”

The doctor noted that with crack cocaine “a lot of effort was placed into trying to get that under control through legislation means, through – ” Melvin interrupted: “Law enforcement.” Torres continued: “Law enforcement, punitive action type things, and treatment. This one’s focusing more on treatment.”

The African American host followed up: “Is that because – and I don’t want to put you on the spot, as I put you on the spot – is that because a lot of the folks who are dying as a result of opioid overdoses in this country don’t look like me?”

Torres explained:

And it could be in part because of the fact that, you know, people that die from overdoses, a lot of people look at that, and say, “Well, you know, they started that on their own, and did it themselves.” Whereas with this one they’re saying, “Well, it was a legal method they started with, and that legal method turned into this drug problem.” So it could be part of the issue.

Melvin’s racially-charged insinuation was brought to viewers by Blue Apron and GEICO.

Here is a transcript of the August 11 exchange:

1:45 PM ET

(…)

CRAIG MELVIN: Before I let you go, I want to ask you the same question I asked a couple days ago. Why?

DR. JOHN TORRES: And I think we are treating it differently, and I think it’s because of where it’s hitting and who it’s hitting. Because it can hit anyone, anywhere, anytime. That one could, too. And the big thing you have to remember is an overdose and an overdose death is an overdose and an overdose death, regardless of what it’s from, what kind of drug. And so a lot of effort was placed into trying to get that under control through legislation means, through –

MELVIN: Law enforcement.

TORRES: Law enforcement, punitive action type things, and treatment. This one’s focusing more on treatment. And so there are a lot of parallels between the two and there are a few differences.

MELVIN: Is that because – and I don’t want to put you on the spot, as I put you on the spot – is that because a lot of the folks who are dying as a result of opioid overdoses in this country don’t look like me?

TORRES: And it could be in part because of the fact that, you know, people that die from overdoses, a lot of people look at that, and say, “Well, you know, they started that on their own, and did it themselves.” Whereas with this one they’re saying, “Well, it was a legal method they started with, and that legal method turned into this drug problem.” So it could be part of the issue.

MELVIN: Dr. John Torres, answering the tough questions for us on this Friday. Thank you, sir.

TORRES: You bet.

Guam Governor on Trump’s ‘Fire and Fury’: ‘I Want a President That Says That’

Guam is suddenly the focus of intense media attention after North Korea ostentatiously threatened to attack it with missiles. The governor of Guam, Eddie Calvo, backed President Donald Trump’s warning to rain “fire and fury” on North Korea in a Fox News interview on Wednesday night.

“As far as I’m concerned, as an American citizen, I want a president that says that if any nation such as North Korea attacks Guam, attacks Honolulu, attacks the West Coast, that they will be met with hell and fury,” Calvo told host Brian Kilmeade on Tucker Carlson Tonight.

Calvo said there was “concern and worry” among the people of Guam but “no panic.”

“If you can recall, just going back to 2013, this is about the third, fourth threat made by North Korea specifically to Guam, as well as other facilities or bases in Asia as well as the States – Hawaii and the West Coast,” he pointed out.

“We’ve got right now 160,000 American citizens on this island, 50,000 American citizens in the Northern Marianas. On any given day, we’ve got ten to fifteen thousand tourists enjoying our shores,” the governor said. “We encourage everyone to go through their lives and live them like you would any other day. At the same time, we have both our civil government work in collaboration with the military regional command here that is prepared for any type of contingency.”

Calvo was critical of Senator Lindsey Graham, whom he accused of “encouraging the administration to go to war because they’d rather have it over there than in the homeland.” That is not quite how Graham put it; he said the prospect of war was “terrible” and “horrific” but added that, “if there was going to be a war, it would be in the region, not in America.”

Calvo was, however, supportive of President Trump’s tough talk to Pyongyang. He then reiterated his criticism of Graham, and his plea for policymakers to remember the vulnerability of Guam and the Marianas when making their plans.

“I think it’s important to be very strong. At the same time, be calm,” he counseled.

“I’ve had enough briefings with the military that there is a multi-layered defense, starting from Korea and Japan, as well as in the Western Pacific, as well as our terrestrial assets here in Guam with the THAAD missile defense system, that American communities such as Guam, as well as other American communities, will be protected,” said Calvo.

“Tell Tucker to come to vacation on Guam! Everything’s okay here!” he concluded cheerfully, giving Kilmeade a message to pass along to regular host Tucker Carlson.

Calvo’s history of North Korean bellicosity is correct. Guam residents found themselves practicing air-raid drills in early 2013 after a previous round of threats, in which North Korea specifically named Andersen Air Force Base as a target. Pyongyang issued three distinct threats to attack Guam in the span of about two months.

The United States moved a Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) unit to Andersen in response and conducted show-of-force B-52 bomber flights.

In the summer of 2016, North Korea produced a propaganda video that showed Guam targeted with its new Musudan-2 missiles, which have even greater range than the Taepodong-2 missiles that could already strike the island. The current threat involves the new Hwasong-12 missile introduced this year, which is the first North Korean missile that actually has better-than-average odds of hitting Guam. Pyongyang said in 2016 that it might blow up Guam in response to a U.S. anti-missile drill with Japan and South Korea it found provocative.

A few months later, North Korea explicitly threatened a nuclear strike on Guam because it said the United States and South Korea were cooperating too closely on “provocations” such as installing a THAAD system near Seoul. After shrieking that U.S. bomber flights to South Korea were also unacceptable provocations, the North Korean military threatened to use its “treasured nuclear sword” to “reduce to ashes Seoul” and “sweep Guam, the base of provocations, from the surface of the earth.”

On Thursday, Japan stated it also stands ready to protect Guam in the event of a North Korean attack.

Defense Minister Itsunori Onodera told the Japanese parliament that its American-designed Aegis destroyers are capable of shooting down North Korean missiles and that any attack on Guam would be considered an “existential threat to Japan” under defense treaties with the United States. This is a significant change from previous Japanese defense policies, which until last year called for shooting down North Korean missiles only if they were aimed at Japan.

Although almost every major American news organization has misrepresented North Korea’s missile threat as a direct response to Trump’s “fire and fury” comment, the threat was actually issued in response to the U.S. Air Force moving B1-B Lancer supersonic bombers to Guam and test-firing a Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. Both of these factors were specifically cited by the North Korean military spokesman who delivered the missile threat to Guam.

“The Strategic Force of the KPA has taken special note of such maneuvers,” the statement from the North Korean People’s Army said, referring to the bomber deployment and missile launch. “The KPA Strategic Force is now carefully examining the operational plan for making an enveloping fire at the areas around Guam with medium-to-long-range strategic ballistic rocket Hwasong-12 in order to contain the U.S. major military bases on Guam.”

After complaining about “frequent visits to the sky above South Korea” by U.S. strategic bombers, the KPA statement warned, “The U.S. should clearly face up to the fact that the ballistic rockets of the Strategic Force of the KPA are now on constant standby, facing the Pacific Ocean and pay deep attention to their azimuth angle for launch.”

A separate statement from the North Korean General Staff released on the same day mentioned comments by Senator Lindsey Graham and Joint Chiefs Chairman James Dunford and threatened to “turn the U.S. mainland into the theater of a nuclear war” with a “pre-emptive retaliatory operation of justice” but did not refer to President Trump’s comments.

This is not to say that North Korea will not respond to President Trump’s remarks with plenty of blood-curdling threats, but it is important to note that the threat universally cited by the mainstream media as Kim Jong-un’s terrifying push back against Trump’s bluster was, in fact, a threat issued for entirely different reasons – both of them involving American military forces located on U.S. soil.

THE FIX IS IN: Does Google Rig Their Search Engines? Some Interesting Evidence …

The leftist tech empire Google, which also moonlights as an SJW think tank that fires employees who dare to question their agenda, is alleged by many on the Right to have fixed their search results to favor left-wing sites.

On top of facing a $9 billion dollar fine from the European Union after a seven-year investigation showed evidence of Google allegedly rigging their search engines to favor the company’s online shopping service in violation of anti-trust laws, the company now faces intense scrutiny from conservatives who accuse them of having not only left-wing culture at work, but a left-wing culture in their service.

A recent study in 2016 conducted by online-search marketer CanIRank.com found that “50 recent Google searches for political terms turned up more liberal leaning sites than conservative ones, rated by a four-person panel,” according to Newsmax.

Google’s search results are “determined by algorithms using hundreds of factors” and “reflect the content and information that is available on the internet,” according to the company, which boasts their search engine’s ability to give people only the best information to avoid eroding trust.

The favoring of liberal sites over conservative ones has a negative effect on sites they shift to the bottom.

“Google is basically a popularity engine in the sense that the more links you have, the higher you’re ranked,” said Nick Diakopoulos, journalism professor at the University of Maryland who studies algorithms.

“If you have a larger cluster on the left and more linking between those pages, it’s a self-reinforcing thing.”

What about information in general? Do Google search results give biased or skewed information for, say, specific genders? An anonymous tip, whose veracity we confirmed, showed something interesting.

The FTSE are the top 100 companies listed on London’s Stock Exchange with the highest market capitalization. Only 7 of the 100 companies have a woman CEO, and yet, if you type “FTSE 100 CEOs” on Google, the top search results show only the ladies in the four featured slots. Coincidence or bias? See for yourself:

FBI: ISIS Used eBay to Send Terror Cash to United States

FBI: ISIS Used eBay to Send Terror Cash to United States

11 Aug, 2017
11 Aug, 2017

FBI investigators announced this week that they have uncovered a global financial network run by members of ISIS who are utilizing fake eBay transactions to transfer money to one another.

Federal investigators arrested an American citizen residing in Maryland who had been receiving some of the funds in question under the FBI’s investigation:

The government had alleged in a 2016 indictment that the American suspect, Mohamed Elshinawy, pledged allegiance to Islamic State and had pretended to sell computer printers on eBay as a cover to receive payments through PayPal, potentially to fund terror attacks.

The recently unsealed FBI affidavit, filed in federal court in Baltimore, alleges that Mr. Elshinawy was part of a global network stretching from Britain to Bangladesh that used similar schemes to fund Islamic State and was directed by a now-dead senior ISIS figure in Syria, Siful Sujan.

The alleged financial network through eBay has been used to buy military supplies. Some of the players in the network may have been killed in a December 2015 drone sweep, according to FBI documents. The same documents reveal that now-dead senior ISIS official Siful Sujan was one of the parties that participated in the underground financial network. The ring operated through a British technology company that Sujan founded.

A spokeswoman for PayPal, which facilitates transactions on the eBay platform, said that it “invests significant time and resources in working to prevent terrorist activity on our platform….We proactively report suspicious activities and respond quickly to lawful requests to support law enforcement agencies in their investigations.”

A spokesman for eBay said that the company “has zero tolerance for criminal activities taking place on our marketplace” and said that they are cooperating with law enforcement’s requests on the case.

Jorge Ramos Misinforms Audience on RAISE Act

Univision’s continued dependence on unchecked immigration evidently demands that any effort to control our borders be attacked and smeared – even at the expense of the truth. That is precisely what viewers saw on Univision’s weekly public affairs program, Al Punto, as anchor Jorge Ramos made blatant material misrepresentations of the Reforming American Immigration for a Strong Economy (RAISE) Act to Univision’s audience.

Here is how Ramos opened the August 6 edition of the program, and with it the discussion of the RAISE Act:

JORGE RAMOS, HOST, AL PUNTO, UNIVISION: Let’s get to the point. We begin today with three very important news items. One is the new immigration plan proposed by President Trump, that compels new immigrants to know English.

When Ramos goes on to take up the topic of immigration with Trump senior policy advisor Carlos Díaz-Rosillo, the first thing mentioned is the fact that the bill does not directly deal with those who are already in the country illegally. It is worth pointing out that Ramos says "from my point of view" when addressing the RAISE Act. The fact is that Ramos always reports and interviews from his point of view, but this is the first time I recall him saying so in such a direct manner. Díaz Rosillo responds by basically saying that legislative action on immigration will be done piecemeal, as opposed to one comprehensive bill that everyone will hate.

But then Ramos zeroes in, as he did in the program’s opening, on the English-language testing portion of the RAISE Act, and proceeds to suggest, as did Azteca América in recent days, that the bill intends to keep brown people ("Latin Americans, Asians, Africans") out of the country and favor immigrants from England, Ireland, Canada, and Australia. Here Díaz Rosillo slams the door shut on Ramos by saying,

…this means that you think that we Latin Americans are not on par with Europeans – that we lack education and don’t have the means with which to contribute to society like the Europeans, which is not true. We can have a Latin American, I believe we are an example of that, that can contribute to this country with a high level of education, and it is not a way to eliminate Latin American immigration but rather there will be many Latin American immigrants who have the training, who speak English, and have a college degree and will be able to contribute to this economy.

Ramos had no choice but to double down on his point after being shut down, as is his habit – and in so doing, came very close to affirming the soft bigotry that Díaz Rosillo – whose patience and skill is to be commended here – denounced just seconds earlier.

Left with nothing after Díaz Rosillo throughly demolished his misinformation on the RAISE Act, Ramos proceeded to go to his "anti-immigrant" card, and his well-worn evocation of his 2015 beef with Donald Trump.

Here is Ramos’ response to Díaz-Rosillo’s statement that President Donald Trump can’t possibly be an anti-immigrant when both the mother of his three eldest children and his current wife, First Lady Melania Trump, are both immigrants.

JORGE RAMOS, HOST, AL PUNTO, UNIVISION: You say the President cannot be anti-immigrant, but nevertheless he strongly criticized Mexican immigrants as being criminals, rapists and drug traffickers, something that is absolutely false. That is being anti-immigrant.

CARLOS DIAZ ROSILLO, ADVISOR TO PRESIDENT TRUMP: But later when, when he said that he later said ‘and others are good people’ that contribute. They usually don’t include that part.

JORGE RAMOS, HOST, AL PUNTO, UNIVISION: But it’s not others, it’s the great majority that aren’t like that.

CARLOS DIAZ ROSILLO, ADVISOR TO PRESIDENT TRUMP: I agree. The great majority are not criminals, but there are many that are, and we want to focus on removing that group of illegal immigrants that are criminals.

Jorge Ramos had no response for Díaz Rosillo this time, moving immediately to a discussion of Venezuela’s descent into dictatorship.

What we learned both from this segment and the Azteca segment spotlighted earlier is that our national Spanish-language media has collectively decided to cover the RAISE Act as an existential threat; in fact, the RAISE Act’s inclusion of testing prospective immigrants’ English-language skills has been covered as if it were a North Korean nuclear missile.

For far too long, our Spanish-language media depended on unmitigated immigration as the fuel for its TV businesses. As we see, they will defend their business even at the expense of the truth.
