Canada Sends Soldiers to Handle Illegals Flooding Her Southern Border

9 Aug, 2017
9 Aug, 2017

The Associated Press reported Wednesday that the Canadian government is sending “about 100” soldiers to assist police and border guards at the remote road on the Quebec-New York border that has become the nexus of an outpouring of illegal aliens living in America.

The back road crossing, with no official border post, near Champlain, New York, and Saint-Bernard-de-Lacolle, Quebec, has seen thousands of people, mostly Haitians residing in the United States, come by taxi and other conveyences to try to illegally enter Canada. Typically, the outflow is reported as resulting from “fear” of the climate created for illegals in the United States.

Haitians in particular may be agitated because the “temporary protective status” (TPS) many of them were granted in the aftermath of that country’s devastating 2011 earthquake may be coming to an end. The status, granted by the Department of Homeland Security to specific groups of people suffering from war or natural disaster, has been extended time and again over the last seven years from its original six-month grant. TPS was never meant to grant the Haitians covered by it permanent residence in the United States, and they were expected to return to Haiti when the disaster had passed.

In May, then-DHS Secretary John Kelly announced TPS for Haitians would be extended one more time, until January 2018, with a strong indication that this will be the final extension. The Haitians now illegally entering Canada hope to avoid going back to their home country after the end of their special protection. Others, including Africans in America on tourist visas, are trying to find permanent homes in Canada under the same asylum seeker system loophole. If they crossed at an official border post, their claim would be adjudicated immediately, but since they cross at this back road, they can stay in Canada while their applications pend.

More than 5,000 people have taken advantage so far. Canadian officials told the AP they estimated 400 illegals crossed the border at the Saint-Bernard-de-Lacolle this Sunday alone. The flood is beginning to overwhelm the resources devoted to the problem so far, with Montreal’s iconic Olympic Stadium already being transformed into a refugee center to handle the influx.

The soldiers from the Canadian Forces have deployed to assist the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the Canada Border Services Agency. According to the AP report, the soldiers are there to set up a more permanent border crossing, including a tent camp for up to 500 migrants who are being arrested as soon as they set foot on Canadian soil. The migrants hope is to gain legal status through the relatively forgiving Canadian asylum laws.

Liberal Party Member of Parliment Brenda Shanahan, who represents the district in which the crossing lies, tried to tamp down the migrants’ expectations when she spoke to reporters. “It’s not a free ticket for refugee status” she said. “We would actually like to make that very clear, that regardless of what people are reading on social media and so on, crossing the border here does not guarantee an automatic entry.”

Paul LePage, Maine's Governor

Maine’s Governor Paul LePage may be in hot water after censoring people on his official Facebook page.

The American Civil Liberties Union of Maine has filed a lawsuit against LePage on behalf of two women who say the governor deleted their comments on his Facebook page and blocked them from further commenting.

The ACLU says LePage uses his Facebook page, titled “Paul LePage, Maine’s Governor,” to perform government business, so blocking people who disagree with him “constitutes viewpoint discrimination and government censorship in violation of the US and Maine constitutions.”

The ACLU of Maine sent a letter to LePage on July 24 demanding he stop censoring users on his page and restore blocked users. They requested a written response within two weeks and never received one.

The governor’s office did not immediately respond to PCMag’s request for comment, but posted a statement about the matter on Facebook arguing that the page is “Paul LePage’s official politician page – not a government page.”

“This page was started by volunteers in the governor’s first campaign to support his candidacy,” the statement reads. “After that time it became his official political page. This page has never been managed by taxpayer-funded state employees.” The message goes on to say that the page “has always noted it is for those who support the governor.”

The ACLU obviously disagrees. They argue that the page is, indeed, an official government page: the governor and his staff use the page to share information and press releases, the page has been “verified,” and up until July 24 it was also linked to from the official Maine.gov website.

“Social media has quickly become a crucial tool for constituents to express their opinions to public officials,” ACLU of Maine Attorney Meagan Sway said in a statement. “Free speech must be protected from government censorship on Facebook just as is it in any other public forum.”

The suit comes after Facebook in March introduced a feature called Town Hall that helps people find and connect with their elected representatives and in June rolled out constituent badges to help elected officials find and connect with their constituents on the platform. Constituent badges are designed to help elected officials more easily identify comments from people who live in their district. If you opt to turn it on, a little badge will show up next to your name when you comment on content shared by your representatives.

Mitch McConnell grumbles: Trump had “excessive expectations” for how quickly Congress can act

“Part of the reason I think people feel we’re underperforming,” says a frustrated McConnell in the clip below, “is because too many artificial [procedural] deadlines … may not have been fully understood” by the president. Is that so?

I think maybe there’s another reason.

Trump’s penchant for whining about the filibuster does McConnell no favors, but consider this: What if the Senate had followed regular order from the start in repealing and replacing ObamaCare? One reason why people are frustrated with the pace of repeal is that Ryan and McConnell framed it as something that could — and should — be done quickly, with bills written in secret by the leadership, airdropped onto the floor, then rammed through on party-line votes. The garbage “skinny repeal” bill that crashed and burned two weeks ago was written the day of the vote. If the Senate had made a run at the bill the old-fashioned way, with committee hearings, mark-ups, floor debate, amendments, etc, McConnell would have been on firmer ground in making the “these things take time” argument. The way he and Ryan played it, they shouldn’t have taken time.

But that just brings us back to Klein’s point. McConnell played it the way he did because he knew his caucus wouldn’t have been able to agree on a bill written via regular order. The ideological spread is too wide between the Collins/Murkowski wing and the Paul/Lee wing and his majority is too narrow. His best bet was a gut-check vote in which the leadership slapped a bill on the table in front of Senate Republicans and growled, “It’s this or ObamaCare forever.” It nearly worked.

Needless to say, though, the realties of legislating were always going to be an awkward fit with Trump’s “superhero” campaign image. Populists elected an alpha male to go to Washington, knock heads together, and roll out one can-do triumph after another in quick succession — repeal, the wall, infrastructure, and so on. Trump was always setting his fans up for disappointment that way, and that disappointment was always more likely to burn McConnell and Ryan than Trump himself. We’ll know in 15 months if the GOP will pay a price for it.

Brian Williams: ‘Our Job’ ‘Is to Scare People to Death’ With Trump and N.K.

In a rare moment of truth from MSNBC’s serial liar late Tuesday night, Brian Williams admitted on his show The 11th Hour that “our job tonight actually is to scare people to death on this subject.” The subject Williams was referring to was the confrontation between President Trump and North Korea. That comment came during a roughly 16-minute segment where he and the stacked panel talked about the threat of North Korea and smeared President Trump for his recent comment to the radical regime.

With U.S. intel saying the North can now outfit a missile with nukes and the President seems to use the same overheated language as the North, as he deals with a genuine overseas threat,” Williams chided during the show’s opening tease.

Williams went on to bemoaned Trump’s threat to North Korea from earlier in the day; when the President said: “North Korea best not make any more threats to the United States. They will be met with fire and fury like the world has never seen.” Williams was also fearful for the almost 200,000 U.S. citizens living on the island of Guam as the North Koreans threatened an attack there.

This genuine overseas threat comes at a low point in terms of public trust in this president,” Williams poked, alluding to a recent CBS poll claiming people didn’t trust Trump to handle North Korea effectively:

And just today, there were new poll numbers from CBS News on this very issue. Just 35 percent of Americans say they are confident in Trump’s ability to handle the situation with North Korea’s nuclear program. 61 percent, 6 in 10 say they are uneasy about it.

The disgraced MSNBC host then touted a clip of a “nuclear expert” slamming the President, with Williams calling it “the most sobering quote of the evening.”

The nuclear expert was Joe Cirincione, a former official for the left wing Center for American Progress and a backer of President Obama’s Iran nuclear deal. According to him, the most concerning part of the situation with North Korea wasn’t their potential attacks against U.S. cities, it was Trump.

No, what you’re worried about is you have two insecure, inexperienced, impulsive leaders in control of a vast amount of destructive force, squaring off in the most heavily militarized area on Earth,” Cirincione spat. “That got out attention for good reason,” Williams added.

Even former General Barry McCaffrey made an appearance to attack the President. “But they are dealing with a president with an incoherent world view,” he said, trying to sound sympathetic to the current generals. “And Brian, I would just assert, never in my experience has any president made this kind of a blustering statement, never mind implying the use of nuclear weapons.” But that’s not entirely accurate.

He may not have experienced a president make that kind of statement, but it has happened before. President Harry Truman said something eerily similar to the Japanese during WWII:

If they do not now accept our terms, they may expect a rain of ruin from the air the like of which has never been seen on this Earth. Behind this air attack will follow sea and land forces in such numbers and power as they have not yet seen.

All of their hyperbolic analysis of the North Korea situation took on a new meaning when Williams let it slip that their job was to “scare people to death on this subject.” It made it clear that their goal was to drive down the public’s trust in the President to handle this threat.

BRIAN WILLIAMS: Tonight, Donald Trump tells North Korea to stop their threats or face “fire and fury. With U.S. intel saying the North can now outfit a missile with nukes and the President seems to use the same overheated language as the North, as he deals with a genuine overseas threat.

WILLIAMS: Hours after that, the North Koreans threatened a missile attack on Guam. For those not familiar with Guam, it’s a U.S. territory, population 168,000 U.S. citizens. There are roughly 12,000 U.S. Military and their dependents, family members. Roughly a third of the island is a U.S. military base. This genuine overseas threat comes at a low point in terms of public trust in this president.

And just today, there were new poll numbers from CBS News on this very issue. Just 35 percent of Americans say they are confident in Trump’s ability to handle the situation with North Korea’s nuclear program. 61 percent, 6 in 10 say they are uneasy about it.

WILLIAMS: Then there is this: Perhaps the most sobering quote of the evening came during an interview with a nuclear expert, the head of a global security foundation. He was interviewed on the Rachel Maddow program earlier tonight.

[Cuts to video]

JOE CIRINCIONE: The seriousness of this situation cannot be overestimated. Not because North Korea could hit us in a bolt out of the blue attack that could take out Los Angeles or Seattle. No, what you’re worried about is you have two insecure, inexperienced, impulsive leaders in control of a vast amount of destructive force, squaring off in the most heavily militarized area on Earth. … They are blowing through this President’s red lines like tissue paper. What is trump going to do now?

[Cuts back to live]

WILLIAMS: That got out attention for good reason.

GEN. BARRY MCCAFFREY: But they are dealing with a president with an incoherent world view. And Brian, I would just assert, never in my experience has any president made this kind of a blustering statement, never mind implying the use of nuclear weapons. You don’t threaten people in public. You threaten them in private, and then you have to be prepared to follow through with what the threat was. So, this was a real blunder on the part of Mr. Trump.

ANDREA MITCHELL: You have reactions tonight from John McCain and from Dianne Feinstein. Dianne Feinstein saying that this is so ill-considered that it’s bombastic, that it is not helpful, that the only short path is a diplomatic path, and I know she has been by the intelligence committee, and I know personally there have been briefings there.

And from John McCain saying that no other American president he has ever known would have used this language. Not Eisenhower, not Reagan not any other president.

WILLIAMS: Malcolm, our job tonight actually is to scare people to death on this subject, so the talk isn’t as free as it is.

The Hill confirms everything we’ve been saying about the deep state sabotaging Trump

One of the funniest things about the Beltway is that, when they talk amongst themselves, they often confirm everything people like us say about Washington and how it works. But they are so completely lacking in self-awareness that they don’t even realize that’s what they’re doing.

WATCH: Ashley Judd LOSES HER MIND When Airport Worker Calls Her ‘Sweetheart’

She’s baaaack!

Fresh off her incredibly bizarre and vulgar slam poetry session at the Women’s March on Washington to protest the democratic election of Donald Trump, insane Hollywood feminist Ashley Judd went all Lena Dunham and reported an airport worker who apparently had the audacity to call her “sweetheart” and compliment her dress.

Where does this guy think we are? Saudi freaking Arabia?

And Ms. Judd, eager to stamp-out “everyday sexism,” took to Facebook to lament the traumatic incident.

“I was coming through security and a guy said ‘Hey, sweetheart,’” whined Judd. “And I said ‘I’m not your sweetheart. I am your client.’”

The horror continues, as the self-styled Nasty Woman recollected the kind employee — trigger warning — complimenting her dress.

“Then when I was setting my things out he said, ‘hey, nice dress.”

The totally rational actress claims the man “touched” her as he grabbed her belongings and placed them on what can only be assumed to have been a conveyer belt.

“I didn’t see him touch anybody else,” she accused. “And I turned around and I said ‘that was unnecessary. … By that time, you know, my skin was burning, my feet are burning. It’s so hard to continue to set these boundaries when someone continues to push.”

Unbelievably, the nice guy then told her: “Have a good day, sweetheart.”

Watch the insanity, below:

And we have a follow-up video! Thank goodness.

Here, Judd basically explains that the manager said he had a talking-to with the employee she complained about (for essentially doing his job in a friendly manner) and that she was given vouchers for coffee in recompense for the intense ordeal. Then, framing herself as a modern Rosa Parks, Judd complimented herself on her bravery for speaking up.

“Just because 89 people don’t speak up, doesn’t mean it’s okay,” the actress said the manager told her, “and the one person who does speak up, is the person who can help employees realize that it is inappropriate to use that kind of language.”

For clarity, “that kind of language” includes a man calling her “sweetheart” and saying “nice dress.”

Watch:

How deeply entrenched in your own victimhood do you have to be to be triggered by a friendly airport employee calling you sweetheart? Really?

Stay crazy, homegirl.

Charlie Daniels Warns Establishment: ‘The Days of the Career Politician Are Over’

Charlie Daniels Warns Establishment: ‘The Days of the Career Politician Are Over’

9 Aug, 2017
9 Aug, 2017

Legendary American singer, songwriter, and guitarist Charlie Daniels penned an op-ed this week in which he explains that President Donald Trump is not a member of the “club” of establishment Washington elites whose main goal is power – not public service.

In the op-ed for CNSNews.com, Daniels reflects on the state of American government, industry and culture in the hands of establishment politicians – Republicans and Democrats alike – who, he says, easily obtain “immunity” from their own “crimes and misdemeanors”:

I’ll let you in on a little secret, Donald Trump is not a member of their club either, and while I’m very well aware that his juvenile name-calling and acerbic tweets do not serve him well sometimes, the main problem the establishment has with Donald Trump is not Russia.

Do you think that Chuck Schumer actually thinks that Trump colluded with Russia, had some secret deal that would benefit him to the detriment of America?

I’d be willing to bet my Ram pickup truck against a lug nut that if you hooked Schumer up to a lie detector and asked him that question he’d fail the test.

No, Schumer, the rest of the Democrat attack machine, George Soros, the Barack Obama’s well-financed underground – et al – have known better than to believe that.

“You see, if what Trump is trying to do is successful, there will be no need, for the Schumers, Pelosi’s and Soroses [who] will spend millions of dollars in vain,” Daniels adds.

The iconic singer, whose autobiography Never Look at the Empty Seats: A Memoir will be released in October, writes “the prosperity and security of the United States” is not a priority for the establishment.

“Reelection and power have taken the place of patriotism and honor in an atmosphere where betrayal is acceptable and common sense is as scarce as unicorns,” Daniels says. “[T]hose folks, with very few exceptions, don’t give a d— about us or the country. All they care about is winning, and they’d sell your whole generation down the drain if it meant they could keep their ivory towers for another season.”

Daniels speaks directly to average Americans – who are not “part of the club” either, and would no longer be “walking the street or drawing full government retirement” after having committed deeds similar to the likes of Hillary Clinton, Lois Lerner, Eric Holder, or Loretta Lynch.

“No, you wouldn’t because you’re not part of the club, and you never will be,” he asserts. “You’re just a hard-working American citizen who doesn’t participate in subsidized platinum insurance programs or spend the taxpayer’s money to ensure that you’ll return to your job next year.”

Daniels continues:

If American industry does come back, if the economy does soar, if the chronic influx of illegal immigrants does ebb, if our streets are ridded of violent street gangs, if the Supreme Court is again weighted toward constitutionality, patriotism and common sense, if our one-sided international trade deals are either fixed or discarded, if our military does regain and retain its rightful place as the best equipped, best manned, most technologically advanced and highly motivated on the planet, if the little Pillsbury Doughboy in North Korea gets his chubby butt handed to him, if Iran’s feet are held to the fire, if American energy sources are tapped and utilized to make us totally energy independent, if these and other goals of the Trump administration are reached, the days of the career politician are over.

“If that day ever comes, people will demand term limits, and empires will fall as Senators, Congressmen, lobbyists and bureaucrats find themselves on a level playing field with the people they lied to and took advantage of for so long,” the singer adds. “Come on home, y’all. Come on home and work for a living for a change.”

Democrats Threaten Gov’t Shutdown To Block Border Wall

Democrats are threatening to shutter many government agencies on October 1 unless President Donald Trump gives up his popular campaign promise to build the border wall against Mexico, according to Politico.

In response, Trump’s deputies are offering political compromises to Democrats, including a rise in domestic spending, says Politico:

The White House is pushing a deal on Capitol Hill to head off a government shutdown that would lift strict spending caps long opposed by Democrats in exchange for money for President Donald Trump’s border wall with Mexico, multiple sources said.

Marc Short, the White House’s director of legislative affairs, met with top staffers from both parties on the Senate Appropriations Committee last week to make a hard sell for the proposal, the sources said.

Short — who said the border funding would be used for a “double fence” — stressed that the White House is insisting on a down payment for construction this fall. Short also lobbied for a big budget increase for the Pentagon, another priority for Trump.

If Democrats block the spending plan, many government agencies will have to send their employees home. But national security agencies, and various aid programs, such as the Social Security program, would keep operating.

Trump’s pending request for an October funding package of $1.6 billion would help build roughly 62 miles of border wall. In May, Democrats — aided by a passive GOP leadership — blocked a 2017 funding package that would have helped quickly build 42 miles of wall.

Led by Sen. Chuck Schumer, Democrats are hoping to block any wall construction, so protecting the northward flow of government-dependent workers to Democratic-run cities, and also breaking Trump’s 2016 primary campaign promise.

But Democratic politicians are also being squeezed between their radical base and popular opinion, which favors Trump’s immigration reform plans. For example, Politico reported that Sen. Tammy Baldwin is opposing the border fence. “I do know for a fact that every [Democrat] considers wall funding to be a poison pill,” she told Politico.

But a recent poll shows that Trump’s immigration reform gets overwhelming support in Wisconsin where Baldwin must faced the voters in 2018. The June poll of 1,000 likely midterm voters was conducted for NumbersUSA, which favors Trump’s merit immigration reform. For example, the poll asked:

Do you strongly support, somewhat support, somewhat oppose or strongly oppose setting up rules to ensure that businesses give first preference for jobs to American workers and legal immigrants already in this country before businesses can ask for new immigrant workers?

The proposal won 53 percent strong support, and only 6 percent strong opposition, said NumbersUSA.

The NumbersUSA group also polled in Montana, where Democratic Sen. Jon Tester is also up for election in 2018. He suggested to Politico that he could support Trump’s double-layer fence, saying: “There are places where the wall makes sense, and there are places where the wall doesn’t make sense and there are better options … I’ll just take a look at it and see.”

Eight additional Democratic Senators are up for election in 2018 in states where Trump won.

In 2014, Schumer and Democrats lost 10 Senate seats after trying to push through the so-called “Gang of Eight” cheap-labor and amnesty bill.

Under pre-Trump policies, the federal government annually imports 1 million legal immigrants into the United States, just as 4 million young Americans turn 18.

The federal government also awards roughly 1.5 million temporary work permits to foreigners, grants temporary work visas to roughly 500,000 new contract workers, such as H-1B workers, and also largely ignores the resident population of eight million employed illegal immigrants.

The current annual flood of foreign labor spikes profits and Wall Street values by cutting salaries for manual and skilled labor offered by blue-collar and white-collar employees. It also drives up real estate priceswidens wealth-gaps, reduces high-tech investment, increases state and local tax burdens, hurts kids’ schools and college education, and sidelines at least 5 million marginalized Americans and their families.
