WALSH: With The Insane ‘Equality Act,’ The Democrat Party Has Declared Total War On Reality

When John Money, the 20th century psychologist, pedophilia-apologist, and all around quack, first invented the concept of gender identity several decades ago, he probably couldn’t imagine that the Democrat Party would one day enshrine his half-baked theories into law. Back when Money was running sexual experiments on young boys, having them strip on camera, simulate sex acts on each other, and forcing one to live as a girl against his will, it would have seemed like a pipe dream that, in the not-too-distant future, his ideas about biological sex and “gender” being two somehow distinct and valid forms of identity would be legislatively imposed on the American population. And when his two human experiments eventually went on to take their own lives, I’m sure Money might have feared that his theories would end up on the proverbial ash heap of history. But that is not what happened. Now the good doctor, who died 15 years ago, can look up from wherever he is — and I have some theories about where that might be — and feel proud that although the concept of “gender identity” is nonsensical and incoherent, and though his attempt to scientifically prove its validity ended with the tragic deaths of two people, still his ideas won the day and soon the entire country will be forced by law to live according to them.

The so-called Equality Act was passed by the Democrat-controlled House of Representatives on Thursday and moves now to the Democrat-controlled Senate. The law is a sweeping and radical assault on religious liberty, women, children, moral decency, and sanity. It is indeed the most serious legislative attack on women’s rights in American history, as it seeks to legally erase women in a way, and to an extent, that not even the most dastardly and misogynistic agent of the Patriarchy could have ever dreamed. The people who worried that Mike Pence would bring Handmaid’s Tale to life were, the whole time, working to establish their own dystopia that goes far beyond anything Margaret Atwood conceived.

The bill has other significant consequences, too. As our own Ian Haworth explains for the Daily Wire, the Equality Act sets the stage to dismantle religious liberty:

The Equality Act would expand protection against discrimination provided by the Civil Rights Act (such as employment and housing) to also cover federally funded programs and “public accommodations,” which includes retail stores, online retailers, stadiums, and transportation service providers. As an example, this would mean that businesses targeted in discrimination suits for refusing certain services based on religious objections would be impacted by the Equality Act, such as florists or bakeries. The Equality Act would also supersede the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA), passed in 1993 which “set a higher bar for the government to defend laws if people argued those laws infringed upon religious freedom.”

The Act also obliterates conscience protections for those who don’t want to fund or perform abortions. Alexandra DeSanctis in National Review lays out the details:

Under the Equality Act, health-care professionals would be required by law to perform sex-reassignment procedures or offer related hormone treatment, even if such procedures contradicted their own best medical judgment. So too, the law would treat refusals to perform an abortion as pregnancy discrimination, which would be treated as an illegal form of discrimination on the basis of sex. The Equality Act redefines “sex” to include “pregnancy, childbirth, or a related medical condition,” and, as the bill’s opponents have noted, federal agencies and courts already have determined that the phrase “related medical condition” can be interpreted to include abortion.

This is all quite horrifying on its own, but it isn’t even the most extreme consequence of the bill. Worst of all, the Civil Rights Act of 1964 would be “updated” to include sexual orientation and gender identity as protected classes, on the same level as race. The text of the bill reads, in part: “An individual shall not be denied access to a shared facility, including a restroom, a locker room and a dressing room, that is in accordance with the individual’s gender identity.”

In fact, as already noted, this mandate would apply to all “public accommodations,” and, conveniently enough, pretty much everything counts, or can count, as a public accommodation. Your home does appear to be exempt at the moment, but the Democrats, I’m sure, will not let that loophole remain for long. What this means is that, if this law passes, it will be effectively illegal to provide any private or exclusive spaces to women. Bathrooms, sports teams, locker rooms — all of these must, by law, be opened to any man who demands access. Under the Equality Act, the government would not recognize “women” as being a necessarily distinct category from “men.” All that matters is a person’s “gender identity.”

This raises an important question: what the hell is “gender identity”? Well, it’s not really anything in particular. It’s an entirely invented, artificial concept — originating with the child-abusing quack mentioned earlier — that is probably best defined, if it can be defined at all, by the Human Rights Campaign (a fervent and influential proponent of the Equality Act). HRC says on the Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Definitions page of their website that gender identity is “one’s innermost concept of self as male, female, a blend of both or neither – how individuals perceive themselves and what they call themselves. One’s gender identity can be the same or different from their sex assigned at birth.”

Let us try to wrap our heads around the sheer lunacy here. Your biological sex is what you actually are — your true sexual identity — as determined by immutable physical characteristics. Your gender identity is what you feel like you are, or what you want to be, or how you perceive yourself. Under the Equality Act, one’s perception of themselves — even if incorrect — takes precedence over the reality of who they actually are. Indeed, the reality is no longer legally recognized at all. Delusion and fantasy supplant truth. Falsehood wins the day.

Of course, female sports teams never had anything to do with self-perception. It makes absolutely no difference what a male thinks or how he feels about himself. None of that changes the biological features which give him an unfair advantage over females. And though the male may feel like he was supposed to have a vagina (whatever that means), the reality is that he has the same equipment as any other male, and belongs in the same locker rooms and bathrooms as those other males. The sign on the bathroom door says — or said — “men” and “women,” not “those who feel like men today” and “those who feel like women today.” That is the only sensible and coherent way to organize these things, and the only way that provides women with the privacy and protection they need. But sensibility and coherence are soon to be illegal.

It does not take much imagination to see where this goes. If self-perception is more important than reality — if, in fact, self-perception is our new reality — then there is no reason whatsoever to limit that standard to gender. What about a white man who seeks the advantages of affirmative action in college admissions on the basis that he perceives himself to be black? It might be crazy to accept that a white man is a black man just because he sees himself that way, but it’s still quite a bit less crazy than accepting that a male is a female just because he sees himself that way. And what about a pedophile who perceives himself to be nine years old? Again, it makes no sense to give his perception of his own age legal precedence over the reality of his actual age, but it’s certainly no more senseless than doing the same in the realm of biological sex. Any argument for giving gender identity protected status would necessarily apply to age identity, race identity, or anything else.

As always, the Left will scoff at what they will call a “slippery slope” argument. And then, in a few years, they will do exactly what they mocked us for predicting they would do. That is the way these things always work, and will most assuredly work in this case. The Democrats have declared total war on reality. We have not even begun to reap the consequences.

Federal judge rules government’s eviction moratorium unconstitutional

A Texas federal judge ruled Thursday that the moratorium on evictions instituted by the federal government during the coronavirus pandemic is unconstitutional.

U.S. Eastern District of Texas Judge John Barker did not issue a preliminary injunction against the moratorium first imposed by the Trump administration last fall, but did say he expects the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to "respect his ruling and withdraw the moratorium," CNN reported.

The temporary halt on evictions began in September with an order from then-President Donald Trump’s CDC and Department of Health and Human Services. The moratorium was initially supposed to stop evictions through the end of 2020 as states worked to deal with the growing COVID problem.

The second stimulus package that Congress passed last year extended the moratorium through January. And just hours after he was inaugurated, President Joe Biden signed an executive action pushing federal departments to extend the eviction halt until at least the end of March.

Landlords and property owners across the country bore the brunt of the moratorium, so a group of them from Texas sued the CDC and HHS in October claiming the federal government does not have the authority to stop evictions. Judge Barker agreed and wrote in his ruling, "Congress also lacked the authority to grant the CDC the power to halt evictions nationwide, and noted that the moratorium threatened to encroach on landlords’ rights under state law," CNN said.

"The federal government cannot say that it has ever before invoked its power over interstate commerce to impose a residential eviction moratorium," Judge Barker, who was appointed by President Trump, wrote. "It did not do so during the deadly Spanish Flu pandemic. Nor did it invoke such a power during the exigencies of the Great Depression. The federal government has not claimed such a power at any point during our Nation’s history until last year."

Barker noted that though the COVID pandemic persists, "so does the Constitution."

CNN reported that the U.S. Department of Justice declined to comment on the ruling and that it is not clear whether the DOJ plans to appeal Barker’s decision.

EXCLUSIVE: CDC COVID Order to Quickly Return Migrants to Mexico May End Within Two Weeks

Senior-level U.S. Customs and Border Protection sources report the Title 42 Centers for Disease Control emergency order will be vacated in as soon as one week, but a 7-day extension is under consideration.

The development comes as local border communities are struggling to cope with already increased arrivals and releases of asylum seekers.

The emergency order in question was issued by the CDC last March at the onset of pandemic lockdowns. It swiftly returned illegal border crossers back to Mexico with minimal, often 2-hour processing lags.

The CDC order was the last remaining measure implemented under the Trump administration to discourage illegal immigration during the pandemic.

The measure was critical to reduce overcrowding in Border Patrol facilities as it limited any relief under existing immigration laws, including asylum claims. The CDC order foreclosed the need for temporary or long-term detention of most migrants and worked to slow the possible spread of COVID-19 in tight quarters in conjunction with federal social distancing guidance applied more broadly.

With the CDC order gone, it would likely encourage more migrants to enter the United States illegally. They will be allowed to file claims for political asylum and be subject to immediate release as ICE detention facilities are already pushing full capacity.

According to a law enforcement sources in the Rio Grande Valley Sector, large groups of illegal border crossers numbering in the hundreds at a time surrendered to Border Patrol within the last 24 hours. Some smaller groups took advantage of the larger distractions and fled inland.

“Once Title 42 is no longer in place, we will undoubtedly see a huge increase in illegal crossings, far greater than we have seen in the past few weeks,” Chris Cabrera, Vice President of the National Border Patrol Council said. “Unfortunately, we may also see a significant increase in COVID-19 cases as Title 42 has aided in slowing the spread of the virus. Let’s not forget, we are still dealing with COVID-19.”

According to CBP, 26 employees have died as a result of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic. Roughly 7,965 tested positive and one-third of those are stationed in Texas.

A request for comment from CBP remains unanswered as of press time.

Randy Clark is a 32-year veteran of the United States Border Patrol.  Prior to his retirement, he served as the Division Chief for Law Enforcement Operations, directing operations for nine Border Patrol Stations within the Del Rio, Texas Sector.

Christians Take On Black Lives Matter with New Anti-Marxist Organization: ‘Every Black Life Matters’

It all began with the 2014 police shooting of 18-year-old Michael Brown. Despite the fact that a 2015 Department of Justice report debunked the popular “hands up, don’t shoot” narrative and showed that Officer Darren Wilson was justified in his actions, left-wing political activists declared it to be yet another example of systemic bias against…

Ron DeSantis At CPAC Highlights Future Of Republican Party Moving Forward: ‘Don’t Ever Back Down’

Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis highlighted the future of the Republican Party during a speech at CPAC on Friday, saying that conservatives needed to have more backbone and not back down to the political left.

DeSantis contrasted the way that his state managed the COVID-19 pandemic to the way that pro-“lockdown” governors managed their states and noted that Florida has performed better than the national average in several key metrics. DeSantis also highlighted the action that his administration has taken to secure elections in the state and to combat big tech.

“When COVID hit, I rejected pressure to make hasty and ill conceived changes to our election administration like mass mailing of unsolicited ballots,” DeSantis said. “And the result on election night by midnight, the state of Florida had counted, tabulated, and put out 11 million votes.”

“But we’re not resting on our laurels, this year Florida’s leading on banning all forms of ballot harvesting and banning third party political groups, like those funded by billionaire Mark Zuckerberg, from interfering in the administration of our elections,” he continued. “Bottom line is this, in Florida, your vote counts and we will continue to have a process that is transparent and that inspires confidence.”

“Florida’s also leading in protecting our people from political censorship and in holding big tech accountable,” he added. “When our legislature convenes next month, it will pass and I will sign the most ambitious reforms yet proposed for combating political censorship and deep platforming, for preventing big tech from interfering in our elections, and for safeguarding the privacy of your personal data.”

DeSantis said that his administration has prioritized taking action on “leading on the issues that matter to conservatives” and not just spewing meaningless political rhetoric.

“We don’t spout hollow rhetoric, we take decisive action,” DeSantis said. “And what’s true in Florida is true for conservatives across the nation, we cannot, we will not go back to the days of the failed Republican establishment of yesteryear.”

“We reject open borders and instead support American sovereignty and the American worker,” DeSantis continued. “Building a movement on the foundation of amnesty and cheap foreign labor is like building a house on a field of quicksand. We reject weakness in the face of the threat posed by China, including their actions in international trade. We reject military adventurism, instead support a strong defense solely for the purpose of protecting our nation and its people. Now, the battles ahead will be made more difficult, without the voice of one of our greatest field generals, my friend, Rush Limbaugh.”

DeSantis warned conservatives that if they stand for the right things that they will “be attacked,” “smeared,” and “even canceled by the major organs of the political left.”

“Now anyone can spout conservative rhetoric, we can sit around and have academic debates about conservative policy, but I’m not saying you don’t do any of that, but the question is, when the Klieg lights get hot, when the left comes after you, will you stay strong or will you fold?” DeSantis concluded. “When you do and you engage in the battles ahead, hold the line. Stand your ground, and don’t ever, ever back down.”

TRANSCRIPT:

RON DESANTIS, GOVERNOR OF FLORIDA: For those of you who aren’t from Florida, welcome to our oasis of freedom. We are an oasis of freedom in a nation that’s suffering in many parts of the country under the yoke of oppressive lockdowns. We look around in other parts of our country. And in far too many places, we see schools closed, businesses shuttered, and lives destroyed. And while so many governors over the last year, had kept locking people down, Florida lifted people up. Florida is leading in protecting our vulnerable residents, saving the economy, and safeguarding the freedom of our people. In Florida, schools are open.

Every Floridian has a right to earn a living and all businesses have a right to operate. Now, we are stronger as a state and much happier as a people because of this leadership. Florida has lower per capita COVID mortality than the national average and lower than 27 other states. Our unemployment rate is lower than the national average, even though tourism isn’t fully back. And our budget is in great shape. We have not touched one red cent from our rainy day fund throughout this whole time. Florida got it right and the lockdown states got it wrong.

Florida has also led and continues to lead on ensuring the integrity of our elections. Now 20 years ago, if you had uttered the word ‘Florida’ and the word ‘elections’ in the same sentence, you would have been met with snickers. Well, when I came into office, I didn’t wait for a crisis. I took early action to make sure we have a smooth election. One of the first things I did when I took office in 2019 was accept the resignation of Brenda Snipes as a supervisor of election in Broward County and remove the supervisor of election in Palm Beach County. We got those going in a good direction and then when COVID hit, I rejected pressure to make hasty and ill conceived changes to our election administration like mass mailing of unsolicited ballots. And the result on election night by midnight, the state of Florida had counted, tabulated, and put out 11 million votes.

But we’re not resting on our laurels, this year Florida’s leading on banning all forms of ballot harvesting and banning third party political groups like those funded by billionaire Mark Zuckerberg from interfering in the administration of our elections. Bottom line is this, in Florida, your vote counts and we will continue to have a process that is transparent and that inspires confidence. Florida’s also leading in protecting our people from political censorship and in holding big tech accountable. When our legislature convenes next month, it will pass and I will sign the most ambitious reforms yet proposed for combating political censorship and deep platforming, for preventing big tech from interfering in our elections, and for safeguarding the privacy of your personal data.

In Florida, we are not going to let the terms of the debate in our country be set by oligarchs in Silicon Valley.

Now … Florida’s leading on the issues that matter to conservatives. We don’t spout hollow rhetoric, we take decisive action. And what’s true in Florida is true for conservatives across the nation, we cannot, we will not go back to the days of the failed Republican establishment of yesteryear.

We reject open borders and instead support American sovereignty and the American worker. Building a movement on the foundation of amnesty and cheap foreign labor is like building a house on a field of quicksand. We reject weakness in the face of the threat posed by China, including their actions in international trade. We reject military adventurism, instead support a strong defense solely for the purpose of protecting our nation and its people. Now, the battles ahead will be made more difficult, without the voice of one of our greatest field generals, my friend, Rush Limbaugh.

On Wednesday, the state of Florida had the flags flown at half staff and honor of Rush in honor of his legacy. Rush displayed the courage of his convictions, time and time again. Rush was one of the first to fight and win against cancel culture. Rush showed that fighting the left requires strength and that conservatism, devoid of backbone is doomed to fail.

So, at this moment in our history, and I think Rush showed us this, but particularly now, standing for the right things comes at a cost, you will be attacked, you will be smeared, and you may even be canceled by the major organs of the political left. Now anyone can spout conservative rhetoric, we can sit around and have academic debates about conservative policy, but I’m not saying you don’t do any of that, but the question is, when the Klieg lights get hot, when the left comes after you, will you stay strong or will you fold?

So, enjoy CPAC and Florida as you leave to go back home, although if you’re not from here, I don’t know why you’d want to leave here, but when you do and you engage in the battles ahead, hold the line. Stand your ground, and don’t ever, ever back down. Thank you. God bless you.

Cruz Gives Impassioned Speech Urging Conservatives To Take Key Steps To Win Back Country

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) gave an impassioned speech on Friday at CPAC in which he warned of the dangers of leftism and mocked his opponents.

“We are gathered in dark times. We’re gathered at a time where the hard left – where the socialists control the levers of government. Where they control the White House, where they control every executive branch, where they control both houses of Congress. Bernie is wearing mittens and AOC is telling us she was ‘murdered,’” Cruz said, in reference to the Democratic congresswoman claiming Cruz “almost had me murdered.”  “And the media desperately, desperately, desperately wants to see a Republican civil war,” he continued. “Liberty is under assault. And what are we going to do? I’ll tell you, we will fight.”

Cruz said that the key for Republicans and conservatives to win the battle against the tyrannical political left was to do two things: “defend liberty” and “have fun.” He went on to unpack both points at length.

“I’m going to close with these words of encouragement, these are dark days and the media tells us this is the new Galactic Empire forever and a thousand years,” Cruz said. “But already, Joe Biden and the radicals in his administration, they are already overshooting, they are already going too far. Their policies don’t work. They are disasters. They are bad. They are destroying jobs. They are stripping our freedom.”

“And there is a natural pendulum to politics. And the country will come back to sanity,” Cruz continued. “And mark my words 2022 is going to be a fantastic election year and so is 2024 as we stand together and defend liberty, defend the Constitution, defend the Bill of Rights of every American. In the immortal words of William Wallace. Freedom!”

SEN. TED CRUZ (R-TX): What an amazing array of speakers here at CPAC. For a second there, I thought, we’re in Des Moines. That one took people a minute. We are gathered in dark times. We’re gathered at a time where the hard left – where the socialists control the levers of government. Where they control the White House, where they control every executive branch, where they control both houses of Congress. Bernie is wearing mittens and AOC is telling us she was ‘murdered.’ And the media desperately, desperately, desperately wants to see a Republican civil war. Liberty is under assault. And what are we going to do? I’ll tell you, we will fight.

Listen to William Wallace.

And let me tell you. The media here looks at the men and women gathered here, at the young people gathered here, as dangerous radicals. This is the rebel alliance. And Vader and the Emperor, and let’s be clear, they’re not your father, are terrified of the rebels who are here, and I’m proud to tell you, Gina Carano is standing with us.

So what do we do, what do we do at a time where the hard left is resurgent? Two very simple things, number one, we defend liberty. Look, are there tensions in our party? Sure, because we believe in diversity, we believe in individuality, different people have different views. … We don’t believe in uniformity, but I’ll tell you what can unite conservatives and libertarians and those who value the Constitution and the Bill of Rights is a love of liberty. And the left, they tell you who they are. Particularly in a global pandemic, as Rahm Emanuel said,’ you never want to waste a good crisis’ and whoo boy these guys don’t want to waste it.

You see statists in California putting 37 tons of sand in a skate park, because ain’t nobody having fun while the socialists are in charge. We see Bill de Blasio in New York sending people in to shut down parks and to throw young Orthodox Jewish kids out of the park because, God forbid, children have fun. We see leftists across the country shutting down churches. California, they’ve helpfully explained, you can go out and protest, you can scream and yell ‘abolish the police,’ and this virus, magically, no one will get infected. You can French kiss the guy next to you yelling, ‘abolish the police’ and no one will get infected. But if you go to church and say Amazing Grace – everyone’s going to die.

By the way, how many of you all have eaten at a restaurant in the last six months? Can I just stop and say how strange the rules are right now? I want to understand how this virus works. So when you walk in, you’ve got to put your mask on. Sadly, I’ve got two. You walk in, you got to put your mask on. You sit down, you take your mask off. See, apparently the virus is actually connected elevation. Now remember, this is all about science, it’s actually it may not be elevation, I think it’s that there are hormones that are released in your thighs when you’re sitting so you can sit at the table and there’s no virus being transmitted. But if you stand up, put the mask on!

And listen, let’s be clear, this is a dangerous virus. But these collectivist statists, okay, now they’re saying everybody can get immunized, we can have herd immunity everywhere and we’re going to wear masks for the next 300 years. And by the way, not just one, two, three, four, you can’t have too many masks. How much virtue do you want to signal? This is just dumb.

You know, the U.S. capital has giant fences with razor wires and 5,000 National Guards standing out front because the Democrats are convinced that political theater helps them. Let’s be clear, this is not about security at this point. This is about political theater, half the country, the deplorables are dangerous, and they’re going to turn the Capitol into a military outpost in Baghdad just to have their compliant media echo that message.

But do you know what terrifies every one of these statists? The truth. Liberty’s powerful, liberty’s persuasive, liberty is fun. You know, last week. We lost the great Rush Limbaugh. I was so blessed and so fortunate to call Rush friend. And Rush understood the power of liberty. You know, before there was Hannity, before there was Tucker, before there was Ben Shapiro or Steven Crowder, before there was Donald Trump. There was Rush Limbaugh.

And before there was Section 230, there was something called the Fairness Doctrine, which gave leftists in Washington the power to silence views they didn’t like, we got rid of the Fairness Doctrine and Rush Limbaugh started by going one AM station, and then a second AM station, and then a third and then a fourth and then a fifth and the voice of liberty spread like prairie fire.

And let me tell you right now, in Los Angeles, there’s some skater kid who’s 19, who’s told that it’s hip and chic and cool to be a leftist socialist man. Who’s going to hear a message? Wait a second, these guys don’t want me to speak, think, have fun, do what I want to do. The message of liberty is profoundly subversive. The left believes in rigid conformity. We believe in diversity, free speech, you can say whatever you want, no matter how dumb it is, and by the way, in Washington, D.C., we test that proposition. Religious liberty, you can worship however you like on your knees before almighty God. Or you could worship the almighty dollar. Or you can worship, I don’t know, pink Martians. That’s the beauty of freedom. The Second Amendment, oh the left hates the Second Amendment, because they want their people docile and compliant. You know, when we saw riots all across the country, I remember there were reports that riots were going to come into suburban–mostly peaceful, fiery, but mostly peaceful–there were reports riots were going to come into the suburbs. I got to tell you, in Houston where I live, there weren’t any rioters, because let’s be very clear, if there had been they would discover what the state of Texas thinks about the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms. So defend liberty.

But number two: Have fun. Have fun. You know, so many on the right, they act like they got a stick inserted somewhere it doesn’t belong. Like just lighten up. Especially now the left, they are shrill, they are angry. How many leftists does it take to screw in a light bulb? That’s not funny! Like God bless, who would want to be around these people? You know, Jerry Seinfeld doesn’t tell comedy anymore because any joke that’s funny is canceled. You know, SNL is unwatchable, the late night comedy, they stand up and say we hate Donald Trump. Yeah, no kidding.

We didn’t get that the last 9,000 times you told that. You know in 2020, The New York Times reported that 60 percent of women named Karen voted for Joe Biden. That’s actually real, you can look it up, the fact checkers, that’s what The New York Times reported and I’m willing to bet 80 percent of the men named Karen voted for Joe Biden. Just have fun.

You know, yesterday, John Boehner made some news. He suggested that I do something that was anatomically impossible to which my response was, who’s John Boehner? And you know what? There are a whole lot of voices in Washington, that want to just erase the last four years. Want to go back to the world before, where we had government of the lobbyists, by the lobbyists before for the lobbyists, where are the Republicans compelling message was, ‘Republicans, we waste less.’ And they look at Donald J. Trump and they look at the millions and millions of people inspired, who went to battle fighting alongside President Trump, and they’re terrified. And they want him to go away. Let me tell you this right now, Donald Trump ain’t going anywhere. And the Republican Party is not the party just of the country clubs, the Republican Party is the party of steel workers and construction workers and pipeline workers and taxi cab drivers and cops and firefighters and waiters and waitresses and the men and women with calluses on their hands who are working for this country. That is our party and these deplorable are here to stay.

Every one of you has a platform, every one of you has a voice, the corporate media wants to silence these voices. You have a platform. You know, last year I launched a podcast, ‘Verdict with Ted Cruz,’ over twenty five million downloads in a year. By the way, please go subscribe ‘Verdict with Ted Cruz,’ ‘Verdict with Ted Cruz,’ click on subscribe, five stars, please. But you know what? You have the same platform, you have social media, you have your friends, your neighbors, your family, your classmates, speak out for freedom. Because I’m going to close with these words of encouragement, these are dark days and the media tells us this is the new Galactic Empire forever and a thousand years. But already, Joe Biden and the radicals in his administration, they are already overshooting, they are already going too far. Their policies don’t work. They are disasters. They are bad. They are destroying jobs. They are stripping our freedom. And there is a natural pendulum to politics. And the country will come back to sanity. And mark my words 2022 is going to be a fantastic election year and so is 2024 as we stand together and defend liberty, defend the Constitution, defend the Bill of Rights of every American. In the immortal words of William Wallace. Freedom!

PolitiFact Rushes to Defend Biden (Again) on Rising Insulin Prices

The reputation of PolitiFact as an "independent fact-checker" just doesn’t rest on their factual accuracy. It rests on whether their selection of which facts to check demonstrate an ideological tilt (it does). Conservatives were mocking their tweet from Thursday night:
Beware of Facebook posts blaming Joe Biden for insulin price hikes. Experts said any recent price changes facing individual patients are likely due to the way insurance works, not the Biden administration. https://t.co/AEfcUDAauw
— PolitiFact (@PolitiFact) February 25, 2021
"Beware of Facebook posts blaming Joe Biden" is what PolitiFact is specializing in right now.
Bill McCarthy was taking exception a Facebook post that claimed "Insulin went from $60 to $500 with the swipe of creepy Joe’s pen…" A Facebook post with 1,100 shares is more dangerous, apparently, than national media outlets that mangle the facts for millions of Americans.
Let’s stipulate that this isn’t a very factual assertion. Last summer, President Trump ordered that insulin prices be reduced in the Medicare program for seniors, but it wasn’t set to be implemented until January 22, and Biden suspended it (temporarily) in his wave of Trump-reversing executive orders.
This is how McCarthy concluded his check:
A Facebook post claimed insulin prices rose "with the swipe of (Joe Biden’s) pen."
Individuals who take insulin could have seen prices fluctuate for several reasons related to their insurance coverage and the specific medication they use. But those changes can’t be pinned on the Biden administration’s actions, experts said.
The Biden administration did temporarily freeze a directive related to one federal program, but that would not have affected current insulin prices, because the policy had not yet taken effect.
We rate these Facebook posts False.
In their footnotes, PolitiFact underlined that the fact-checker community as a bloc was rushing to defend Biden:

AFP Fact Check, "Trump’s insulin order frozen, not scrapped, by Biden," Feb. 3, 2021
USA Today, "Fact check: Biden administration delays implementation of Trump rule on insulin, EpiPens," Feb. 3, 2021
They left out Snopes on January 25, Did Biden Temporarily Freeze Trump Rule Lowering Insulin, EpiPen Prices?
Not to mention their own obsession:

Even so, this has not been a TV story. A quick search of transcripts in Nexis for “Biden” and “insulin” since January 20 on ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, and MSNBC found no mention of Biden’s freeze on Trump’s insulin price order. There were eight stories with these two words, all of them on the cable channels, and five of the eight were about the prospect of Texans caught without insulin in the winter storm.
PolitiFact isn’t shy about touting Biden’s "competence" as a True Thing. This item came two days before the Biden-insulin post:

3 Times Biden And Trump Did The Same Thing… And The Media Reaction Was Totally Different

It is a widely understood fact that media coverage of the Trump administration was, to say the least, massively critical. While some of this was justified as a result of objective reporting, a large portion — if not a majority — was the result of hyper-partisanship within the legacy media with the apparent goal of undermining the Republican president in preparation for the 2020 election.

Nothing demonstrates this shameless partisanship more than the legacy media’s reaction to events that are almost entirely identical, with the one difference being the political affiliation of the man in the White House.

Here are three examples of Trump and Biden doing — effectively — the same thing but with vastly different media coverage.

Syria

During Trump’s presidency, two missile strikes were approved against Syria. In 2017, Shayrat Airbase was targeted in response to the Khan Shaykhun chemical attack days earlier. In 2018, the United States — alongside the United Kingdom and France — carried out a series of missile strikes against Syrian government sites in response to the Douma chemical attack.

The New York Times responded to the 2017 strike with “Acting on Instinct, Trump Upends His Own Foreign Policy.” After the 2018 strikes, the Washington Post published a piece titled “The many things Trump didn’t accomplish in the latest Syria strike.” The USA Today went with “Analysis: Trump’s strike on Syria has fire and fury — but not the element of surprise.”

In the first military action taken under President Biden, the United States carried out an air strike against Iran-backed militias in Syria. The strike came after “a civilian contractor was killed in a rocket attack on US targets,” with the Pentagon saying that the strike was launched “at President Biden’s direction.”

The New York Times reported on the strike with a piece titled, “With Strikes in Syria, Biden Confronts Iran’s Militant Network,” adding “Using a carefully calibrated approach, the president hopes to restrain Iran’s regional militia allies without undercutting efforts to reach a new nuclear deal.”

CNN reported “US carries out air strikes in Syria targeting Iranian backed militias.” The Washington Post went with “Biden administration conducts strike on Iranian-linked fighters in Syria,” which included that the Biden administration was “signaling its intent to use targeted military action to push back against violence tied to Tehran.” USA Today had “Biden’s Syria airstrikes first test of role as world’s police.”

Border Control and Illegal Immigration

In the first days of Biden’s presidency, it was announced that his administration would be reopening migrant facilities — specifically for children — at the border between the United States and Mexico.

The Washington Post reported “First migrant facility for children opens under Biden.” Axios went with “Biden administration reopens Trump-era facility for migrant children.” ABC News said “US reopens Texas surge facility to hold immigrant teenagers.”  CNN’s headline read “Biden administration will begin to admit migrants held in tent camp near the US-Mexico border.”

Compare these muted and emotionless headlines to the coverage of the Trump administration’s policy.

CNN reported on the policies, with headlines like “Trump makes political gamble with immigrant lives,” and “Trump whips up immigration storm over children.”

NPR published a piece titled “What We Know: Family Separation And ‘Zero Tolerance’ At The Border.” The San Francisco Chronicle published an opinion piece titled “Trump’s tent city for children is a concentration camp,” and Michelle Goldberg wrote for the New York Times “They Really Don’t Care About Migrant Families.”

COVID Vaccines

After Trump promised that an effective COVID-19 vaccine would be delivered before the end of 2020, the legacy media widely rejected this as fantastical nonsense. CNN questioned the safety of “rushing” the approval of a vaccine, with pieces likePast vaccine disasters show why rushing a coronavirus vaccine now would be ‘colossally stupid,’” and “The timetable for a coronavirus vaccine is 18 months. Experts say that’s risky.” They even posted a “fact check” of Trump’s claim that the vaccine was ready in late October.

Once the vaccine was delivered, the legacy media then moved to undermine and criticize its distribution. CNN reported the false claim that “Biden inheriting nonexistent coronavirus vaccine distribution plan and must start ‘from scratch,’ sources say.” The New York Times published a piece in mid-January titled, “States are scrambling after the Trump administration’s vaccine promise falls apart.” The Washington Post pivoted to preemptively defend Biden, saying “Experts warn of vaccine stumbles ‘out of the gate’ because Trump officials reused to consult with Biden team.”

With Biden now in the White House, the media narrative has continued to move from an offensive effort against Trump to a defensive effort for Biden. The New York Times celebrated Biden’s “accomplishment,” reporting “Biden Expects to Surpass His Goal of 100 Million Shots in 100 Days,” despite this amounting to one million doses per day, a milestone passed multiple times by the Trump administration. After Biden celebrated 50 million vaccine doses being administered, CNN reported “Biden marks 50 million vaccine doses but cautions there’s a ‘long way to go.’” Over 15 million doses were administered by the Trump administration prior to Biden entering office.

***

Whether it be the coverage of military action in Syria, the language used to describe migrant detention centers, or manipulating mathematics regarding vaccine distribution, one thing is clear. If the only difference between two almost identical events is political party, the legacy media are capable of producing two completely different headlines.

Tom Cotton On Why Democrats ‘Hate America’: They Forgot What Reagan Said In His Farewell Address

Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) said during his CPAC speech on Friday that Democrats have gotten to the point that they “hate America” because they have forgotten how special of a place America is, something that Reagan famously expressed in his farewell address.

Cotton made the remark while he was talking about how CPAC was not held in Washington, D.C. this year because officials have locked down the nation’s capital after Democrats downplayed violent left-wing riots for much of 2020.

“Now, maybe if CPAC had promised to burn down buildings and tear down statues, they would have let us up there,” Cotton said. “But just think about that contrast, that contrast strikes at the heart of our freedom, that your rights may depend on what you say, or what you believe, or the color of your skin. That’s the opposite of freedom, and conservatives everywhere, and really just normal Americans who don’t subscribe to every fad and fashion the far-left, see risk everywhere they turn. Big business may take your job away, big tech may deplatform you, your liberal college may kick you out of school, your liberal governor may shut down your church.”

“And why does the left do that?” Cotton said. “It’s because they failed to heed the warning of Ronald Reagan, in his farewell address. They lost what he called the unambivalent appreciation of America. Now, many on the left have concluded that America is a fundamentally flawed, irredeemable, wicked place. They have a lot of names for it. But whatever banner it flies under, it gets back to that anti-American idea. You can call it ‘wokeness,’ or ‘political correctness,’ ‘cancel culture,’ you can call it ‘critical race theory,’ ‘critical gender theory,’ critical whatever. Some people call it systemic racism. But here’s their point. The key word is not racism, the key word is systemic. It doesn’t matter so much what the system is guilty of only that the system is guilty, and it needs to be burned to the ground. So many liberals think that about America. And how do they plan to do that? They plan to do it by rejecting our beautiful Declaration of Independence, and the central promise of America, that we are all created equal in the eyes of God and we all have equal rights under the law. But too many of them no longer believe that. That’s why there’s no more urgent task today than the defense of America. And a simple, unapologetic patriotism.”

SEN. TOM COTTON (R-AR): Hello. Thank you all very much. Thanks for that great Florida welcome. You know, it’s great to be back at CPAC. Although something is a little different this year, you know, for the first time ever CPAC is not in our nation’s capital. That’s because they won’t let us anywhere near the nation’s capitol. Think about it. Even though cases are plummeting and vaccination rates are surging, we are still banned from getting anywhere near our nation’s capital. Now, contrast that with what happened last summer with the BLM protests there, thousands of people in the streets as cases were surging. Did Democratic politicians try to lock that down? No, they went out march with them. Now, maybe if CPAC had promised to burn down buildings and tear down statues, they would have let us up there. But there is nowhere, there’s nowhere, I would rather be than here with my fellow patriots free, than locked down in Washington, DC.

But just think about that contrast, that contrast strikes at the heart of our freedom, that your rights may depend on what you say, or what you believe, or the color of your skin. That’s the opposite of freedom, and conservatives everywhere, and really just normal Americans who don’t subscribe to every fad and fashion the far left, see risk everywhere they turn. Big business may take your job away, big tech may deplatform you, your liberal college may kick you out of school, your liberal governor may shut down your church. And why does the left do that? It’s because they failed to heed the warning of Ronald Reagan, in his farewell address.

And how do they plan to do that they plan to do that? They plan to do it by rejecting our beautiful Declaration of Independence, and the central promise of America, that we are all created equal in the eyes of God and we all have equal rights under the law. But too many of them no longer believe that. That’s why there’s no more urgent task today than the defense of America. And a simple, unapologetic patriotism.

We face many threats in this country, whether from China or Iran, or Islamic terrorism. But there is no more pernicious threat to America than the rejection of our founding principles, and our heritage and our tradition. And all those on the left who would reject those things I have a message. We will defend America without fear, without reservation, and without apology. After all, we’ve seen what happens when people lose the nerve to defend America. Last summer, chaos and riots engulfed our streets. Police stations were fire bombed. Buildings, businesses were looted. Courthouses were attacked, statues to our heroes were toppled. The police in some cases were overwhelmed and didn’t have the numbers to stop the violence. In other cases liberal politicians refused to allow the police to restore order, you may recall, we were all told these are mostly peaceful protests, peaceful protests as entire city blocks were burned to the ground. Remember the guy on CNN, standing in front of the blazing Inferno? So, mostly peaceful protests down here tonight, Wolf. But the violence continued night after night.

So I wrote an op-ed in The New York Times. It had it had a very simple message, very simple, very common sense message, grounded in American history in law, supported by a majority of Americans arguing very simply, if the police cannot, or especially if they are not allowed to restore order, then it is time to send in the troops. And what happened next? Total meltdown with the little social justice warriors at The New York Times. All these children that have been marinated, in the language of the campus seminar room. They said things like, ‘your words put my life at risk.’ As if typing on their phones sitting on their futons was as dangerous as being a cop trying to stop rioters in the streets. Or, ‘your words are violence.’ No, I’m sorry, kiddo, words or words, violence is what your friends are doing out on the streets of America. And of course, The New York Times editors they caved and rolled over And they apologized. They said my work didn’t meet their standards. That’s one time I actually agree with The New York Times. My work did not meet their standards, it far exceeded their normally lousy standards. You know, some people, some people on the left even called for me to apologize. So let me say again, I will never apologize for defending America.

And, you know, one of the first things I learned in the Army, really one of the first things anyone learns in the Army is the five principles of patrolling. The most important of which is security because if you don’t have security, you don’t have anything. And security is what our brave police officers bring to our communities every single day across America. And that’s why conservatives should never apologize for backing the blue. And whether it’s a child mob and the New York Times, or a social media mob, or an actual mob and our streets, we will never bend the knee to a politically correct mob, ever. Now, The New York Times a laughingstock obviously, but this is no laughing matter. The Democrats expect us all to surrender, to capitulate. They want to control the terms of the debate, they even want to control our language. Have you seen that Joe Biden wants to ban the term ‘illegal aliens’? It’s true. What does he want to replace it with? He wants to replace it with undocumented non citizen. True, I’m not making it up. Why are they undocumented? Because they’re illegal. It’s simple people. And that’s just that’s just the tip of the iceberg and they’re open borders immigration agenda. They want to give amnesty to 15 – 20 million illegal aliens, with no strings attached, with voting rights, presumably in time for what they hope will be Kamala Harris’s re-election campaign. They may have halted deportations for all illegal aliens, murderers, rapists, terrorists, Ms-13 gang members are not being deported. They stopped building a wall on our border, and they put up a wall around your United States Capitol. And right now, right now as we speak, they are literally tracking down illegal aliens in Mexico, who Donald Trump turned away, to invite them to come back. That’s not catch and release. That’s recruit and release. And of course, you can’t fly into America without a negative coronavirus test but you can cross our border without one. Now I’ve got news for the Democrats again, turns out this open borders agenda is not very popular. You can see that in the polls about Joe Biden’s plans. 2020 was one of the best elections we’ve ever had with Hispanic voters in particular, and with immigrant voters in general. Reminds me of a story a friend of mine back home told me. He works with a first generation immigrant named Manuel. Manuel, told him, ‘my wife, and both my boys and I all voted for Donald Trump.’ And my friend said, ‘Oh, you didn’t vote for Donald Trump.’ And Manuel said, ‘No, we voted for Trump.’ And my friend said, ‘Why did you vote for Trump?’ And Manuel pointed at the parking lot. He said, ‘Have you seen my new pickup truck?’ And he said, ‘Did you know that both of my boys have full time jobs now?’ And he said, ‘You know, I’m not offended by what Donald Trump does.’ And like so many Americans across the country, he said, we have Donald Trump to thank for those things. So, is it any wonder that people like him, immigrants who obeyed our laws and came here the right way, who earned their citizenship and earned the right to vote are some of our most patriotic and loyal Americans? People who escaped oppression from countries like Cuba or Venezuela, or China, more than ever, we need that kind of simple, unambivalent, unashamed patriotism, the proud love of a great country because America truly is a great country, it is worth fighting for, it is worth dying for. And it is worth defending our history.

These these radical liberals, they want to erase our history, they want to replace it with their crazy Marxist theories. They may say that it’s about the civil war or racism, don’t believe them. Look at what’s happening in San Francisco. They’re trying to rename schools named after George Washington, and Abraham Lincoln, and Dianne Feinstein. People, if Dianne Feinstein is not liberal enough for you, I don’t know what to tell you. But they are more focused on renaming Abraham Lincoln High School than they are opening up so kids can go back and learn there. And remember this to, last summer, as those mobs were rampaging in the streets, they tore down statues of Abraham Lincoln, and Ulysses S. Grant, when they’re tearing down statues of Lincoln and Grant, it’s not about the civil war or racism, it’s because they hate America. They want to erase and rewrite our history. These liberals read 1984 and thought it wasn’t a cautionary tale, but a how-to-manual. These are the same liberals that were burning our flag over and over again, last summer in the streets. And what happened? The media celebrated them, Kamala Harris bailed them out of jail. Well, I think you all know what we should do with rioters in the street, we should lock up every last one of them.

You know, I’ll confess that it makes my blood boil when I see liberals desecrating our flag. When I was in the army, I served at Arlington National Cemetery and we performed funerals for our fallen heroes. I had to present that flag to their widows, the same flag that was burned in our streets last year. The same flag that pampered athletes disrespect by taking a knee during our national anthem. You know, those athletes are about the same age as a lot of those soldiers, a lot of our wounded warriors, though don’t have the ability to take a knee anymore. You would think it was the least those athletes could do to stand up for our flag when our national anthem plays. But if they won’t stand up, and we will stand up for our flag. Let me let me close this with just one final story about the flag. You know, I used to get asked questions a lot I still do about why the flag is backwards on the army uniform, and it goes back to the day of cavalry charges. When our soldiers would charge in the battle, the flag would fly in the wind. And if you’re on the right side of the formation, and the flag is one on the right shoulder, it would appear backwards. So our soldiers wear that flag backwards on their uniform still today to remind everyone that our army always advances it never retreats. And I think that’s a pretty good lesson for us today. When America is under assault, and conservatives are under attack, we will never retreat. We will never surrender and we will always defend and protect the United States of America. Thank you all. God bless you. And God bless the United States of America.
