Adam Schiff: Keep the #Releasethememo secret because Americans wouldn’t understand

Adam Schiff, reputedly a champion leaker from the House Intelligence Committee when it came to Russiagate material, suddenly thinks Ignorance is Bliss when it comes to the FISA warrant used to spy on the Trump campaign. Appearing on CNN, he tried to justify keep the 4 page memo that reportedly exposes the individuals who acted as part of a cabal to undermine the Trump campaign with help from NSA spying, and then pushed the “Russia collusion” conspiracy theory as part of the “insurance policy.”

Americans are too ignorant, you see.

Do you think Democrats are starting to panic?

CABRERA: “Let me ask you about the Russia investigation. I can’t have you here and not. Especially given how much we talked about it in the first year of the presidency. And now if you turn on any conservative media, they keep talking about this Nunez memo, the chairman of the house intelligence committee, that he’s put out there and many Republicans have taken a look at it and they want it made public. Can you tell us what exactly is it?”

SCHIFF: “It is essentially a set of talking points that the Republican Intel staff drafted. Based on the highly classified materials which most of the Republican members were forced to acknowledge. They’ve not even read. So they don’t know how distorted these talking points are. But as part of the narrative they want to push out. Interestingly enough, they’ve made common cause once again with Russian bots because Russian bots are pushing their narrative out there. It’s in a redux of the campaign. We have assange and Wikileaks and Russian trolls and bots saying, you know, hash tag whatever the GOP narrative is. That ought to tell you a lot about what’s driving this. And that is —“

CABRERA: “Why not allow peel to look at it and let Americans make the decision for themselves about whether it’s useful information or not?”

SCHIFF: “Well, because the American people unfortunately don’t have the underlying materials and therefore they can’t see how distorted and misleading this document is. The Republicans are not saying make the underlying materials available to the public. They just want to make this spin available to the public. I think that spin, which is a attack on the FBI, is just designed to attack the FBI and Bob Mueller to circle the wagons for the White House. And that’s a terrible disservice to the people, hard working people at the bureau, but more than that, it’s a disservice to the country.”

CABRERA: “Adam Schiff, congressman, thank you.”

Remember when Democrats claimed “transparency” was a good thing?

Adam Schiff Doesn’t Want FISA Memo Released Because He Thinks Americans Are TOO STUPID To Understand It (VIDEO)

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) joined CNN Saturday to discuss the explosive FISA memo. Asked why he is fighting to keep the report under wraps, the California Democrat said he doubts the American people will understand its contents.

In other words, Schiff believes Americans are too stupid to understand the memo.

As The Gateway Pundit‘s Cristina Laila reported, Schiff is in full blown panic mode as release of the memo looms. The Democrat lawmaker is fiercely working to block Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes from exposing “shocking” FISA abuses that took place during the 2016 presidential election.

In a statement to CNN Friday, Schiff slammed the memo, branding it a, “profoundly misleading set of talking points drafted by Republican staff attacking the FBI and its handling of the investigation.”

On Thursday, the House Intelligence Committee quietly voted to make available to fellow House members “a memo documenting abuse of the FISA program,” reported Fox News’ Chad Pergram.

Upon learning of Pergram’s report, Sean Davis, co-founder of The Federalist, tweeted “Blocking documents is a super weird thing to do if, as Democrats assert, all they want is transparency. What are they trying to hide?”

Davis then added, “Schiff and the rest of the House Intel Democrats saw the DOJ/FBI/FISA docs on the dossier over a week ago. The lack of any leaks plus their votes today to block release of that info suggest the documents are catastrophically bad for Dems.”

According to Fox News contributor Sara Carter, the contents of the memo are so “explosive,” that it could end special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia probe. Additionally, the memo’s release could lead to the prosecution of top FBI and Justice Department officials, contends Carter.

Fox News host Sean Hannity has reported three separate sources confirmed to him the Russia dossier was used to obtain a FISA warrant to spy on the Trump campaign.

GOP congressman reveals House Intel Committee will release top secret FISA memo to public

The secret memo detailing alleged government surveillance abuses will be released to the public soon, according to a House Republican.

What’s happening?

Rep. Dave Joyce (R-Ohio) said Saturday the House Intelligence Committee “plans to begin” the release process very soon, if not immediately.

The process, he said, might take up to 19 congressional working days. According to the House’s 2018 calendar, that means the earliest the document could be released is sometime in mid-March.

Source confirmed to the Washington Examiner that a meeting has taken place to discuss the memo’s potential public release.

News of the memo broke last week and immediately became the top story behind the impending government shutdown. House members who have viewed the highly classified Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court document allege it provides evidence the Obama administration used the FISA court to unlawfully spy on the Trump campaign and Trump transition — something former administration officials have long denied.

Because of that, numerous GOP congressman have demanded the memo be released to the public. They allege the document could even lead to the end of special counsel Robert Mueller’s Trump-Russia investigation and to senior FBI and CIA officials being sacked.

Led by Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.), 65 GOP lawmakers wrote to House Intelligence Committee chairman Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) on Friday demanding the memo’s release.

Gaetz said on Fox News Saturday that the memo will “shock the conscience of this country.”

“There are four pages of a memorandum prepared by the intelligence committee that will shock the conscience of this country when it comes to the horrific abuses that occurred during the last administration and that I believe continue to pose a threat to Donald Trump’s presidency,” he said.

Why does the process take so much time?

Aside from the fact that it must be reviewed by federal records reviewers given that it contains highly classified information, the memo must receive multiple levels of approval before it can be released.

On Thursday, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) explained on Fox News the document’s release would first need approval from the House Intelligence Committee and then President Donald Trump would have to give it the green light.

Breaking: FBI admits it ‘failed to preserve’ five months of text messages from anti-Trump FBI agent

The FBI mysteriously “failed to preserve” five months of text messages between a senior FBI agent who worked on special counsel Robert Mueller’s Trump-Russia investigation and his mistress, an FBI lawyer.

Woah, what?

The Department of Justice made the disclosure in a letter to the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee on Friday, according to the Daily Caller. The letter states that FBI systems didn’t preserve text messages between FBI agent Peter Strzok and FBI lawyer Lisa Page.

“The Department wants to bring to your attention that the FBI’s technical system for retaining text messages sent and received on FBI mobile devices failed to preserve text messages for Mr. Strzok and Ms. Page,” the letter states. Stephen Boyd, the assistant attorney general for legislative affairs, penned the letter.

Citing “misconfiguration issues related to rollouts, provisioning, and software upgrades that conflicted with the FBI’s collection capabilities,” Boyd explained that “data that should have been automatically collected and retained for long-term storage and retrieval was not collected.”

Ironically, the missing text messages are from Dec. 14, 2016 to May 17, 2017. The time period is significant because it represents the time when the Trump-Russia allegations were heating up through the time Mueller was appointed special counsel. In fact, Mueller was appointed on May 17, 2017.

According to the Washington Post, Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), who chairs the HSGAC, received a new batch of text messages late Friday. In a response letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray, Johnson wanted to know why the FBI did not preserve the text messages from the missing the five month period.

“The loss of records from this period is concerning,” Johnson wrote to the FBI on Saturday, according to the Daily Caller.

Johnson’s committee is investigating the FBI’s handling of the Clinton email probe.

Who are Strzok and Page?

Strzok, as a senior FBI official, worked on both the Clinton email and Trump-Russia investigations. He became the top investigator on the Trump-Russia case in July 2016 just weeks wrapping up his work as one of the top investigators in the Clinton probe.

He was removed from Mueller’s investigation last summer after the DOJ inspector general learned of anti-Trump text messages he had exchanged with Page, whom he was having an extramarital affair with.

Page was also a part of Mueller’s team, but left before the text messages were discovered.

What new text messages were revealed Friday?

According to the Associated Press, the DOJ provided Johnson’s committee with 384 pages of new text messages. One of the new messages mentions a language change in the statement then-FBI Director James Comey would read to America exonerating Hillary Clinton of any wrongdoing in the email probe.

More from the AP:

In another exchange, the two express displeasure about the timing of Lynch’s announcement that she would defer to the FBI’s judgment on the Clinton investigation. That announcement came days after it was revealed that the attorney general and former President Bill Clinton had an impromptu meeting aboard her plane in Phoenix, though both sides said the email investigation was never discussed.

Strzok said in a July 1 text message that the timing of Lynch’s announcement “looks like hell.” And Page appears to mockingly refer to Lynch’s decision to accept the FBI’s conclusion in the case as a “real profile in courag(e) since she knows no charges will be brought.”

White House Voicemail: Government Closed Because Democrats Holding Military Funding ‘Hostage’ over ‘Immigration Debate’

White House Voicemail: Government Closed Because Democrats Holding Military Funding ‘Hostage’ over ‘Immigration Debate’

The White House changed its voicemail message to blame congressional Democrats for failing to pass a budget over partisan squabbles on immigration.

“Unfortunately, we cannot answer your call today because Congressional Democrats are holding government funding—including funding for our troops and other national security priorities—hostage to an unrelated immigration debate,” the recording says.

The message, which was recorded for the White House’s public comment line, said calls could not be answered because of the “obstruction” from Democrats.

“Due to this obstruction, the government is shut down,” the recording continued.

The message ended by informing callers that they can leave comments for President Trump on the White House website contact page until the government reopens.

During a government shutdown, all non-essential services, including the National Park Service and museums, cease to operate.

“Essential” operations, such as the military, the post office, and federally-run medical centers remain open—although many employees will not receive immediate payment while the government is closed.

The government shut down at 12:01 a.m. Saturday after Senate Democrats refused to fund the government if a deal on DACA amnesty was not negotiated. The White House responded that there would be no amnesty negotiations in the government funding package.

The Senate is in session as of Sunday as lawmakers work to reopen the government.

Newly released text messages reveal anti-Trump FBI agent knew outcome of Clinton probe in advance

The FBI agent who was removed from special counsel Robert Mueller’s Trump-Russia probe and his mistress, an FBI lawyer, appeared to know the FBI wouldn’t recommend criminal charges against Hillary Clinton before the FBI’s investigation into Clinton’s email server ended.

What happened?

Newly released text messages given to the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee late Friday appear to show that senior FBI agent Peter Strzok and his mistress, Lisa Page, knew Clinton wouldn’t be prosecuted in advance of then-FBI Director James Comey decision.

The text messages also show that then-Attorney General Loretta Lynch knew Clinton wouldn’t be charged, despite Lynch’s recusal and Comey claims that the didn’t coordinate his decision with anyone in the government.

The exchanged happened on July 1, 2016, one day before Strzok personally interviewed Clinton for the investigation. The couple was discussing Lynch’s decision to recuse herself from the investigation.

“Timing looks like hell,” Strzok told Page.

“Yeah, that is awful timing. Nothing we can do about it,” she responded, later adding: “It’s a real profile in couragw [sic], since she knows no charges will be brought.”

Four days after that conversation, Comey stood before the nation and announced his decision to not recommend criminal charges against Clinton.

Pressure to finish

Text messages released to Johnson’s committee also revealed Strzok’s enthusiasm to finish the Clinton investigation when it was apparent then-GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump would become the GOP nominee.

“It’s going to be a Clinton Trump race. Unbelievable.” Page texted Strzok on May, 4, 2016.

“Now the pressure really starts to finish MYE,” Strzok responded. According to the Daily Caller, “MYE” is a reference to “Mid-Year Exam,” the FBI’ code word for the Clinton email probe.

It was also revealed over the weekend the FBI “failed to preserve” five months of text messages between Strzok and Page. But what’s most significant about that is the period of missing messages: Dec. 14, 2016 to May 17, 2017.

The Trump-Russia investigation, which Strzok was removed from over his extramarital affair with Page, was heating up in mid-December while Mueller was appointed on May 17, 2017.

According to Fox News, the Department of Justice and FBI are required to turn over the remaining 9,000 text messages to congressional investigators by Thursday.

GOP Rep Gaetz: Contents of Intelligence Memo Will ‘Shock the Conscience of This Country’

Saturday, Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) further discussed the intelligence memorandum that he teased this week, predicting the contents will “shock the conscience of this country.”

“There are four pages of a memorandum prepared by the intelligence committee that will shock the conscience of this country when it comes to the horrific abuses that occurred during the last administration and that I believe continue to pose a threat to Donald Trump’s presidency,” Gaetz said on Fox News Channel’s “Justice.”

Gaetz stated that “names are named” in the memo, adding that it is “so important” that the “shocking” memo gets released immediately.

He continued, “All Americans need to see what was happening to undermine this president, duly elected.”

Huh? NYT’s Odd Attack on Trump Nominee: He Fights Too Hard Against Campus Anti-Semitism

New York Times education reporter Erica Green picked a bizarre fight against a Trump nominee for being too concerned about anti-Semitic violence on campus — reminding readers how hostile the paper is to pro-Israel voices and how accommodating it can be to radical pro-Islamic ones: “An Advocate for Israel, Named to a Civil Rights Post, Draws Criticism” was the headline in Friday’s Times. The text box took anti-Israel critics to heart: “Opponents see a narrow focus as a hurdle to fairness.”

Students at the University of Wisconsin-Madison had gathered last spring to consider a resolution calling on the university to divest in companies and countries that abuse human rights, profit from the “military-industrial complex” and promote fossil fuels when the debate jumped the rails.

Soon, the students were in a full-scale battle over whether the resolution should cover Israel, with charges of anti-Semitism and racism rattling the room. A student representative who was Jewish said that the last-minute inclusion of Israel “crossed the line from legitimate conversation to a point where I consider it malicious.” The student government chairwoman, who is black, suggested the opposition to the resolution amounted to “white supremacy,” which she condemned with a four-letter expletive.

In the aftermath, Kenneth L. Marcus, the founder and president of the Louis D. Brandeis Center for Human Rights Under Law, decided to enter the fray, writing to university administrators to denounce calls for divestment from Israel as anti-Semitic, and to assail the meeting as hostile toward Jewish students. He urged that the black student leader be disciplined.

Green didn’t portray anti-Semitism on campus as an urgent matter.

On Thursday, Mr. Marcus received the approval of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee to be President Trump’s assistant secretary for civil rights in the Education Department, a prestigious post known more for policing racial bias and sexual violence in schools than refereeing the battles over Israel and Palestinian rights on the nation’s university campuses.

….

Critics see him as a biased crusader whose singular focus on what he believes to be rising anti-Semitism on the campus left will further impede the Education Department’s already tentative efforts to enforce civil rights protections for marginalized groups of students.

Marcus remained “dangerous,” at least to left-wing pressure groups (or “human rights groups”), and:

His critics question whether he will fulfill the office’s goal to stand up for all students. More than 30 civil rights organizations wrote a letter to the Senate Education Committee urging his rejection.

Green cited as negative the Trump administration’s insistence on due process for the accused.

The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights also questioned his support for Ms. DeVos’s decision to rescind Obama-era guidance that strengthened processes for investigating sexual assault on college campuses….

At the Times, combating anti-Semitism like the BDS movement is considered an overly “narrow agenda.”

Human rights groups also expressed concern that Mr. Marcus will use his office to further a more narrow agenda: combating the anti-Israel Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions movement on college campuses, which he believes has devolved into violent, anti-Semitic harassment.

Google Discontinues Flawed Fact-Checking Effort; Poisonous Corporate Culture Remains

The Daily Caller’s Eric Lieberman reported early Friday afternoon that Google is discontinuing (for now) its “fact-check” feature.

The company is now characterizing the effort, which the Daily Caller exposed as a thinly veiled attempt to target conservative sites while leaving leftists alone, as an “experiment” which has been put “on hold,” while the its engineers see, in Lieberman’s words, “how they can vastly improve a fact-check system.”

Lieberman’s original report on Google’s “fact-check” widget on January 9, originally covered by Alex Xenos and Corrine Weaver at NewsBusters, identified two major problems (bolds are mine throughout this post):

(While it was) “displaying fact checks for conservative publications in its results, no prominent liberal site receives the same treatment.”

(The fact checks which were done were often) “blatantly wrong, asserting (that) sites made ‘claims’ they demonstrably never made.”

Lieberman’s Friday post noted what happened when Google was informed of egregious errors in one post:

After days of back-and-forth … (the Daily Caller) was told it was probably due to the algorithms, something the company doesn’t talk about as a matter of internal policy.

Oh sure. Blame it on the algorithms, not the people who designed and built them. The selection of only conservative articles for fact-checks and the erroneous results arising from them hardly seem accidental. At the end of the day, people certainly don’t need Google to be serving as their news babysitter.

Abandoning the clearly biased fact-check effort would be a tiny but necessary first step in reforming a corporate culture which, based on evidence presented in former Google engineer James Damore’s wrongful termination lawsuit against the company, has gone stark raving mad.The most important thing everyday internet users need to know is that the company’s poisonous corporate culture has corrupted its three core products: search, news, and video (italicized text was originally bolded by Adams):

Employee Lawsuit Reveals Google as Intolerant Race Cult

Congratulations on finding this article if you used Google. A civil rights lawsuit filed this week revealed its search engine blacklists authors and ideas distasteful to the company.

Google engineer James Damore’s class action complaint describes a creepy cult-like orthodoxy at Google, where dissent is smashed, and the color of your skin is far more important than the content of your character. Reading the complaint is a deep dive into wicked, racial groupthink, and a frightening reminder that it really can happen here. At Google, it does.

… the Left has big plans for America … (Damore’s) experience at Google should make clear to every American that this gang is playing for keeps.

… the thinking that is normal inside a powerful institution like Google should alarm all actual, normal Americans.

… Worse, the complaint says that Google created company sanctioned blacklistsharassment committees, and even encouraged open vocal attacks on white males at company events.

… After Damore posted his memo urging that employees stop being hired and promoted on the basis of race and immutable characteristics, the real onslaught began. Managers attacked him on the discussion boards. Other managers encouraged threats of violence against Damore.

… After Damore was fired, the “Google Recognition Team” allowed for financial bonuses for any employees who attacked Damore’s views publicly. This is the 2017 version of “Party Membership.”

… Google maintains secret blacklists of conservative authors and news sites. Google sought to stifle conservative parenting styles, and made anyone using traditional parenting techniques unwelcome.

… totalitarian psychology seems to dominate the corporate culture at one of the most powerful gatekeepers to American political thought. Thought trials, threats, orthodoxy, shunning, racialism, moral relativism, enforcement committees, and cult-like hunts for thoughtcrime reveal Google as (an) echo chamber that aims to control the thinking of the world.

Adams didn’t even get to YouTube’s ramped-up censorship of videos and users espousing mainstream conservative views.

Google has clearly joined Facebook and Twitter in abandoning their knowledge-sharing and discussion-oriented missions in favor of deciding what knowledge can be shared and what discussions can be had. Facebook has routinely allowed its legion of employed thought police to shut down and marginalize access to Christianpro-life, and conservative accounts and news. James O’Keefe’s undercover efforts have exposed Twitter employees’ virtually across-the-board hatred of President Donald Trump.

The last thing this world needs is these cesspools of fever-swamp, authoritarian leftism deciding the veracity of presented facts, and determining what news the world can and can’t see.
