DOJ has very bad news for Democrat Senator over corruption charges – here’s what they said

Democratic Senator Bob Menendez of Florida celebrated the news that jurors could not reach a verdict in his trial over corruption accusations, but he’s not out of the woods just yet.

AnnaLou Tirol, the acting chief of the Justice Department’s public integrity section, released a statement Friday declaring the intent of the government to keep pursuing corruption charges against Senator Menendez.

“The United States files this notice of intent to retry the defendants and requests that the Court set the case for retrial at the earliest possible date,” reads the statement.

“Defendants Robert Menendez and Salomon Melgen have been indicted for bribery and corruption by two separate grand juries properly impaneled in the District of New Jersey,” she added. “The first trial ended in a mistrial with a deadlocked jury.”

“An early retrial date is in the best interests of the public, and the United States is available to schedule a retrial at the Court’s earliest convenience,” the statement concluded.

Why was the first trial unsuccessful?

Menendez’ trial was declared a mistrial in November when jurors could not reach a unanimous verdict. “I find that you are unable to reach a verdict and that further deliberations would be futile and there is no alternative but to declare a mistrial,” the judge said at the time.

Menendez was on trial for 11 charges of bribery and one of filing false reports. He was accused by the government of exchanging his political influence for lavish gifts and large political donations from an ophthalmologist friend of his in Florida. Both denied the accusations.

What did Menendez say about the announcement?

Senator Menendez’s office released a statement in response to the letter of intent from the Department of Justice.

“We regret that the DOJ, after spending millions and millions of taxpayer dollars, and failing to prove a single allegation in a court of law, has decided to double down on an unjust prosecution,” the statement read.

“Evidently, they did not hear the overwhelming voices of the New Jerseyans who served on the jury this fall,” it continued. “Senator Menendez fully intends to be vindicated — again.”

Gregg Jarrett: I Suspect This FISA Document Will Show Numerous Felonies By Top Officials — With Up to 10 Years Behind Bars (VIDEO)

Gregg Jarrett: I Suspect This FISA Document Will Show Numerous Felonies By Top Officials — With Up to 10 Years Behind Bars (VIDEO)

Attorney and FOX News analyst Gregg Jarrett joined Sean Hannity on Friday night to discuss the explosive FISA document that was released to the House Intelligence Committee this week.

Gregg Jarrett says the document will snow “numerous felonies” by top Obama DOJ and FBI officials. Jarrett then adds that the criminal actions may result in up to 10 years in prison.

Gregg Jarrett: Top officials should be impeached which means they can’t hold another government position. But I suspect this intel document is going to reveal multiple felonies by high ranking officials at the FBI and Department of Justice. There’s a federal felony statute it’s called Deprivation of Rights Under Color of Law and it says that a government official cannot use their government position to deprive somebody of their constitutional rights. Here it’s the constitutional right to privacy… If the DOJ goes into a federal judge using a fake false document to obtain a warrant to spy that’s a violation, it’s a felony, it’s 10 years behind bars.

Donald Trump Jr. on FISA Memo: “This Is the Stuff You Read About from Banana Republics” (Video) #ReleaseTheMemo

Donald Trump Jr. on FISA Memo: “This Is the Stuff You Read About from Banana Republics” (Video) #ReleaseTheMemo

On Thursday a classified DOJ memo on the FISA abuse by top officials rocked Washington DC–

The House Intel panel’s passage of New York Republican Rep. Peter King’s motion to release the FISA abuse memo to fellow House members has rocked Washington, D.C.

According to Fox News contributor Sara Carter, the contents of the memo are so “explosive,”that it could end special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia probe once and for all.

Rep. Matt Gaetz later told Sean Hannity, “I believe people will go to jail.”

This morning Donald Trump Jr. tweeted out about the explosive memo.

On Friday night Donald Trump Jr. joined Tucker Carlson to discuss the memo.

Don Jr. told Tucker this is “the stuff you read about from banana republics.”

Donald Trump Jr.: If all of these guys are saying people’s heads are gonna roll, people are going to get fired and people are actually going to go to jail, I think the American people deserve to know… It’s the double standard the American people are being fed by the Democrats in total complicity with the media. That’s why neither have any trust from the American people anymore… Look, what I’ve seen and what I’ve learned over the past few months is bordering on disgusting. So there would be little doubt in my mind that it be possible. But this isn’t the America that I thought would happen. This is the stuff you read about from banana republics.

Twitter Sends Users Creepy ‘Big Brother’ Email Regarding Secret ‘Russian Influence’ Online

Twitter Sends Users Creepy ‘Big Brother’ Email Regarding Secret ‘Russian Influence’ Online

On Friday, Twitter sent out an email to Twitter users regarding the so-called ‘Russian influence campaigns’ that took place on the social media platform during the 2016 presidential election.

The subject line of the email from Twitter read, “Information Regarding Russian Influence Campaigns on Twitter”.

The Gateway Pundit’s Associate Editor Cristina Laila received this email from Twitter on Friday.

The email informed users that Twitter is actively working to understand ‘Russian-linked activities’ on the platform that took place during the 2016 presidential election. Twitter claims they have identified and suspended a ‘number of accounts that were potentially connected to propaganda efforts by a Russian government-linked organization known as the Internet Research Agency’.

Here’s where the email turns creepy Big Brother…

Twitter users received this email because Twitter believes they either ‘followed, re-tweeted or liked’ content from one of these so-called Russian propaganda Twitter accounts.

Twitter went on to say there is no security concerns with the user accounts who receive these emails.

The social media giant also linked to a blog where people can view content from the suspended accounts.

According to Twitter’s blog post, they sent this email to 677,775 people in the United States:

Consistent with our commitment to transparency, we are emailing notifications to 677,775 people in the United States who followed one of these accounts or retweeted or liked a Tweet from these accounts during the election period. Because we have already suspended these accounts, the relevant content on Twitter is no longer publicly available.

In total, during the time period we investigated, the 3,814 identified IRA-linked accounts posted 175,993 Tweets, approximately 8.4% of which were election-related.

Twitter closed the email by saying they are actively working to stop malicious accounts and tweets from spreading and are committed to being transparent.

What about all of the fake Hillary Supporter accounts?

What does Twitter consider ‘malicious’? Well according to Project Veritas’ new undercover videos, Twitter is actively targeting Trump supporters with their algorithms.

Also, why does Twitter discriminate against Russians? Are they investigating other countries besides Russia who may have tweeted about the 2016 presidential election?

Vice Chairman of the Intel Committee, Senator Mark Warner (D-VA) previously raged about the dangerous ‘Russian Twitter trolls‘ and vowed to get to the bottom of it so he was just so proud of Twitter’s efforts…

CBS Ignores, ABC, NBC Give Under 3 Minutes to March for Life

2 minutes, 6 seconds. That’s how much time the networks spent on more than 100,000 marchers this Friday. That’s how much time the networks gave an event where President Trump spoke. That’s how much time the networks offered a rally remembering 60 million unborn who perished through abortion.

According to organizers, more than 100,000 Americans attended the 45th March for Life on Jan. 19. The rally condemns abortion around the anniversary of the Supreme Court’s 1973 Roe v. Wade decision, which legalized abortion in the U.S. But while the largest annual march in Washington, D.C. regularly attracts crowds from across the country, the networks refuse to give them – and the unborn they march for – the coverage they deserve.

The evening of the March for Life, ABC and NBC gave an embarrassing 2 minutes, 6 seconds combined to the rally. CBS said nothing. This march made history, as the president addressed the March for Life live via satellite. But that wasn’t enough for the media.

Compare that time to last year, when Vice President Mike Pence and White House counselor Kellyanne Conway addressed the March for Life. Network coverage of the event soared to 21 minutes, 51 seconds.

For the 2018 March for Life, the most coverage came from NBC. During Nightly News, fill-in anchor Savannah Guthrie spent 1 minute, 49 seconds on the event. In the president-focused segment, Guthrie noted that President Trump’s comments were historic. Something the other networks did not.

“The president did something today that no other president has done before him,” she said, “He directly addressed a massive crowd of anti-abortion activists at the annual March for Life rally in the nation’s capital” via satellite.

While both Guthrie and NBC White House correspondent Kristen Welker called the event by name (“March for Life”), they both repeatedly used the term “anti-abortion” to describe the pro-life marchers.

In the field, Welker reported on the march as a political event by insisting that the movement was “celebrated by marchers energizing his [Trump’s] conservative base.” She interviewed two marchers: one who expressed thanks to the president for supporting life and an adoptive mother who stressed choosing adoption rather than abortion.

But again, Welker turned to politics that “loomed large.”

“Once in the oval office, he’s touted some victories for the movement,” she said, before adding he fell short as “other campaign promises have lagged” like defunding Planned Parenthood and limiting late-term abortions.

In an interview, she pressed White House counselor Kellyanne Conway: “Why should anti-abortion supporters feel confident that President Trump is going to get some legislative victories?”

And, of course, she aired a photo of the (very) few abortion supporters protesting the March for Life.

“Tonight, abortion rights advocates say they’re increasingly concerned, the president’s chipping away at access to safe abortions, contraception and women’s rights,” she warned, before turning to NARAL Pro-Choice America president Ilyse Hogue for further comment.

As if there’s such a thing as a “safe abortion,” where one person always dies. But Welker didn’t catch the irony, even after attending the march. Instead, she concluded, “But for those who march today, new momentum.”

But it wasn’t new momentum by the media. Last year, the networks spent 21 minutes 52 seconds on the march. This year’s 2 minutes and 6 seconds doesn’t even come close.

During World News Tonight, ABC anchor David Muir spent a mere 17 seconds on the march. According to him, just “thousands” attended. Like NBC, his report also centered around the president, “addressing the 45th annual March for Life.”

“His remarks were broadcast live from the Rose Garden to thousands of marchers on the Washington mall,” he said. “The president promoting his administration’s actions to strengthen abortion restrictions.”

CBS didn’t give the marchers, or the unborn they spoke for, one mention. Instead, Evening News covered topics like giant waves and a 93-year-old widower whose life still revolves around his wife.

During their morning and evening news shows for the past five years, the broadcast networks have offered fewer than 24 minutes to the March for Life. To put that in perspective, ABC, CBS and NBC spent more than three times that on the Women’s March in 2017 alone, with 1 hour, 15 minutes, 18 seconds.

This year’s march came as Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider, faces federal investigation by the Justice Department. The abortion giant has destroyed more than 7.6 million babies through abortions since Roe v. Wade.

But that’s not all that makes this year’s march especially relevant. Also on Friday, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act in defense of abortion survivors. This summer, the Supreme Court will hear oral arguments concerning a case on abortion and free speech in National Institute of Family and Life Advocates v. Becerra.

Methodology: MRC Culture watched the evening news shows from the three broadcast networks (ABC, CBS and NBC) directly following the March for Life on January 19, 2018.

‘Worse Than Watergate’: ‘Shocking’ House Intel Memo Allegedly Reveals FISA Abuse by Senior DOJ and FBI Officials

Members of the House on Thursday said they viewed a “shocking” classified memo allegedly detailing abuse of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) by senior Justice Department and Federal Bureau of Investigations officials in relation to the investigation of the Trump campaign and called for it to be declassified and available to the public immediately.

“It’s troubling. It is shocking,” Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC) told Fox News. “Part of me wishes that I didn’t read it because I don’t want to believe that those kinds of things could be happening in this country that I call home and love so much.”

“The facts contained in this memo are jaw-dropping and demand full transparency. There is no higher priority than the release of this information to preserve our democracy,” said Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), a member of the Judiciary Committee, which oversees the DOJ and the FBI.

Another Judiciary Committee member, Rep. Steve King (R-IA), called what he saw in the memo “sickening” and said it was “worse than Watergate.”

Rep. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), another Judiciary Committee member,  called the memo “deeply troubling” and said it raises questions about the “Obama DOJ and Comey FBI.”

“The classified report compiled by House Intelligence is deeply troubling and raises serious questions about the upper echelon of the Obama DOJ and Comey FBI as it relates to the so-called collusion investigation,” he tweeted.

“You think about, ‘is this happening in America or is this the KGB?’ That’s how alarming it is,” Rep. Scott Perry (R-VA) told Fox News.

“It is so alarming the American people have to see this,” Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), a senior member of the Judiciary Committee, also said to network.

The viewing of the memo came after all Republican members of the House intelligence committee, whose investigators compiled the classified memo, voted Thursday to make it available to all House members. Every Democrat on the committee voted against it.

According to Gaetz, the memo’s contents could lead to the firing — and perhaps even jailing — of senior DOJ and FBI officials.

“I think that this will not end just with firings. I believe there are people who will go to jail,” he said on Fox News’ Hannity.

He said what he saw in the memo also explains why Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and Judiciary Subcommittee Chairman Lindsey Graham (R-SC) recently referred the Fusion GPS dossier author Christopher Steele for a criminal investigation.

“I think there will be criminal implications here,” Gaetz added.

The memo also reportedly contains information about the dossier put together by Fusion GPS that alleged Trump and members of his team colluded with Russians in the 2016 election, according to a report by investigative journalist Sara Carter.

It was revealed in October that the dossier was funded by the Hillary Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee. Despite being a political document, the dossier was reportedly part of the evidence FBI officials used to apply for and obtain a warrant through a secret FISA court to spy on Trump campaign adviser Carter Page.

Page told Breitbart News in a statement: “After over a year of inciting discord and threats of violence across America, it’s encouraging that the individuals in Washington responsible for these efforts to undermine our great democracy may be held accountable soon.”

Breitbart News first reported on March 3, 2016, that the Obama administration took steps to undermine Trump’s presidential campaign using “police state” tactics, including spying on the Trump campaign. That report is widely believed to have led to President Trump’s tweet that later accused the Obama administration of wiretapping Trump Tower.

Members of the public and Congress are now calling for the document to be declassified and released to the public.

DeSantis said the House intelligence committee, pursuant to House rules, should vote to make the report publicly available as soon as possible.

“While the report is classified as Top Secret, I believe the select committee should, pursuant to House rules, vote to make the report publicly available as soon as possible. This is a matter of national significance and the American people deserve the truth,” he said.

“Rule X of the House Rules allows the select committee to publicly disclose any information in its possession after a determination by the select committee that the public interest would be served by such disclosure.”

According to House Rules, if the House intelligence committee votes to make the report public, President Trump would have five days to issue an objection. If he objected, it would take a vote on the House floor.

Secret (for now) memo may blow the lid off FISA warrant and Mueller investigation

Conservative hearts are aflutter, thanks to a memo that has been made available to members of the House of Representatives (if they go to a secure room and read it).  According to several members, there is finally hope of documenting the cabal that appears to have deceived the FISA Court with the Steele dossier to obtain a warrant to spy on the Trump campaign, and then launched special counsel Robert Mueller to investigate the bogus “collusion” charges, morphing into the Lavrentiy Beria strategy of “show me the man, and I’ll find you the crime.”  According to some members who have seen it, heads may roll, and people may end up in prison.

Sara Carter yesterday broke the story:

A review of a classified document outlining what is described as extensive Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act abuse was made available to all House members Thursday and the revelations could lead to the removal of senior officials in the FBI and Department of Justice, several sources with knowledge of the document stated.  These sources say the report is “explosive,” stating they would not be surprised if it leads to the end of Robert Mueller’s [s]pecial [c]ounsel investigation into President Trump and his associates.

The House Intelligence Committee passed the motion along party lines Thursday to make the classified report alleging extensive [“]FISA Abuse[“] related to the controversial dossier available to all House members.  The report contains information regarding the dossier that alleges [that] President Trump and members of his team colluded with the Russians in the 2016 presidential election.  Some members of the House viewed the document in a secure room Thursday.

Appearing last night on Hannity along with Sara Carter, Reps. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) and Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), who have seen the memo, discussed it, while keeping the specifics under wraps.  Gaetz uses the expression “palace coup.”  It is 11 minutes long and covers the potential implications more completely than other sources I have seen.  A rush transcript follows the video.

Rush transcript via Grabien:

Joining us now with more information, congressman Jim Jordan and Matt Gaetz and Fox News contributor Sara Carter. Let me ask all three of you, yes or no, am I over the target? Jim Jordan?

>> Sean, what I read today in that classified briefing room is as bad as I thought it was. And every single American citizen should have the ability to see that information to know exactly what our FBI was up to.

>> Sean: Will it shock the conscience of the American people.

>> Sean it, shocked me. I compared it to — I remember the day I walked in two years ago on the Benghazi committee walked in and sought immunity agreements given to people in the Clinton investigation. I didn’t know who they had given them to. I opened up that folder and I looked down the justice Department official slid that folder over to me on the table and look down and say they gave Cheryl mills immunity during the Clinton investigation? Clinton’s chief of staff? Her lawyer, today when I read the material, I had that same shocked feeling I was like wait a minute, this actually happened from our Justice Department and this FBI? That’s how serious this is that’s why we are calling on every bit of that information we got to see today to be made public for you to see, for journalists to the see, most importantly for the American people to see.

>> Sean: Matt Gaetz you saw these materials today you are agreeing with Jim Jordan. It sounded like a few people decided they wanted to fix, they fixed it not only so Hillary would get in trouble on the email server scandal we know felonies were. She rigged the primary. Sounds like they are fixing and rigging here a general election or to overturn an election and, you know, I mean, whatever word you want to describe that. Fixing, rigging, a coup, I don’t know.

>> You are describing the very elements of a palace coup, and after meadows and others of us reviews intelligence information today it’s abundantly clear that the entire Mueller investigation is a liability on a foundation of corruption. And what is so important is that we get this information in to the public square. The best disinfectant for this corruption is going to be sunshine and that’s why Jim Jordan and I have joined many other members of Congress in calling for this information to be released for the review of all of the American people. You know, Sean, when you been on this show each and every night making claims about the bias and the corruption and the deep state, people have accused you and your guests of being tin foil hat folks, lone voices in the wilderness. This critical intelligence information will convinced indicate the claims that have been made by so many and it is absolutely essential that we share it with all Americans. That’s what we’re fighting for in the Congress.

>> Sean: It S. It a fair statement that onion we have been unpeeling we have been over the target the whole time, congressman Gates?

>> Well, Sean, we can’t get into the specific information, but I can tell you I’m as certain as ever that the claims we have been making are accurate claims that there is intelligence information that backs it up. And that there has been a real attempt to undermine this president and it has come from the scariest of places. Some of the very people we have been talking about will be exposed and the key reason that all Americans need to see this memo is that it names names. It says who was involved with who. How different actors and characters we have heard about interacted with one another. And that is the type of information that we need all Americans to see immediately.

>> Sean: Sara Carter you have been all over this all day. What can you tell us about your reporting?

>> Well, I can certainly say that my reporting coincides with what congressman Gates and congressman Jordan are saying. And I think it’s far worse than what I believed could have happened. From what I have been told, senior government officials may be removed from office, may be fired. I don’t know how far this will go. I also want a lot of those questions answered, Sean, who was in relationship to who when it came to these FISA warrants? How did they operate with one another? What were these really egregious actions that took place that only this memorandum and report can tell us? And I have been watching my Twitter feed and I have been watching Twitter all day. I’m seeing #release the documents. #Release the documents everywhere. The American public deserves to know the truth here. It is absolutely essential that we understand what was happening and this was a duly elected president of the United States of America and if people within our own government were trying to usurp that and change the trajectory then the American people need to know.

>> Sean: I agree with you on release of documents. The “Wall Street journal” tonight in an editorial, they are demanding the same thing. Congressman Jordan, we deserve to see this. You agree with that? And how soon will would he be able to get our eyes on these documents?

>> Great question, Sean. Here is the process, chairman nunes in the intelligence committee in the house can he bring the committee back together. They can have a vote. If the majority of the committee votes to release these documents, the executive branch gets a certain amount of time to review them. If the executive branch gives a thumbs up they go public. This could happen real quick. Chairman nunes is committed to getting this information.

>> Sean: Not one Democrat wanted you to see it.

>> No they didn’t. After you read it and playing partisan politics you can see why they didn’t want us to see that and why though won’t want the American people U this is something that needs to be — this should never happen in a country as great as the United States of America and we need every single American, take a look at this and see what exactly their government did and law enforcement division did. This is that kind of information and needs to be public as soon as possible.

>> Sean: Sounds to me like a lot of people, congressman Gates, need to be fired and investigated.

>> That’s right. I think that this will not end just with firings. I believe there are people who will go to jail. I was very persuaded by the evidence. And it also became clear to me why chuck grassley and Lindsey Graham felt it so important to refer this matter for criminal prosecution. You don’t get to try to undermine our country, undermine our elections and simply get fired. I think there will be criminal implications here. We have to underscore the point you just made. Every single Democrat on the intelligence committee voted against even allowing other members of Congress to see this information. So you know they’re going to fight against release to the American people. What are the Democrats so afraid of? Why don’t they want the American people to know the truth about what was going on with the government, how that impacted the president, his transition, his campaign and it just seems interesting to me that Democrats don’t want us to know what the entire basis was in the first place for the Mueller probe they want to drag this out through the midterm elections to embarrass this president and distract from the critical work we have to do to save this great country.

>> Sean: Do you conclude that Mueller, the whole issue of trump-russia collusion should have never come up. Does Mueller need to disand.

>> This was a liability on corruption built on a sham. The entire investigation is a fiction. It’s a fallacy. And when the American people see how this began when the American people see how different people I recollect actorred with one another and how different organizations were infiltrated and subjected to biased individuals and how that really played out, I think that every American will understand how absolutely ludicrous it is that we continue to allow the Mueller probe to go forward. It needs to end because the entire basis is a lie.

>> Sean: I know from my sources, Sarah, that they are saying this should result in the immediate firing of Lisa page, of Peter strzok, of Bruce Ohr, also Andrew Mccabe. I have some questions, where does Rod Rosenstein stick in this equation the one who appointed the special counsel? Because we now know the dossier, the phony Clinton bought and paid for dossier that was used for the FISA warrant. All of this leads to Mueller. That never should have happened because it was on opposition party propaganda. And then what’s with Comey, what’s his involvement here? Where does he stand? Where does Mueller’s investigation stand based on your reporting tonight?

>> Well, apparently, when this document goes public, which I believe it will I do believe it will be the unraveling of the Mueller probe. And I have been hearing that from other sources. And, Sean, this was all about in the beginning, remember, trump-russia collusion, trump-russia collusion. Now we know from what we have been hearing from the sources, from the congressional members who have seen this memo that the collusion appears to be between certain members of the FBI and the doj and the mostly cloudy campaign and that the foundation of this was all based on lies. Not only do I want to know what Rosenstein who was actually the department of justice was withholding that information for a long period of time, you know, and then finally gave it up to the house intelligence community.

>> Sean: Did Rosenstein sign off on extension of this warrant do we know.

>> I don’t know that yet. I haven’t had the privilege of seeing the actual classified document, of course, the congressional members have. But I do not know the answer to that yet. But I would like to know how Sydney Blumenthal plays into all of this because I think that’s going to be a very telling revelation when all of this comes out.

>> Sean: Do you have — can you give us any information, not giving us any details, congressman Jordan about Comey, about mullen? And I’m very interested about Rod Rosenstein in all of. This no. There are certain people who can sign FISA application. Only certain people can at the Justice Department. We don’t know who did. After did you go read this material.

>> Sean: Woe, we can eliminate this quickly it wasn’t Jeff Sessions to ho was recused. Either Rosenstein or I believe one other person has the ability.

>> Only a handful of people at FBI and justice who can sign off on one. Who did that? We don’t know. What we do know is what we have been talking about, this should go public. We also know there is more to come. Investigation at the intelligence committee is not complete. Thank goodness they are doing what they’re doing. Push to get these documents in the first place. Their investigation is not complete. When it’s complete, then you are going to see the Judiciary Committee and the house do even more.

>> Sean: Comey had to know all of this was going on, didn’t he?

>> Well, again, we can’t talk about specifics who knew what and what we read today. What we read today though was a memo that compiled information that they got that they presented to members of Congress to look at. We called for members of Congress to see this a few weeks ago. Now we are calling on all Americans to be able to see this material so they can see what really took place.

>> Sean: #Release the document. Release all the background associated with the document. Thank you all for being with us.

>> Thank you, Sean.

Dan Bongino is among those with high hopes for where this will lead:

Bongino’s Twitter feed contains quite a few further tweets about the possibilities he sees for karma coming due.

I must caution that the roll-out of this will take time, and actually firing Mueller would be highly problematic for President Trump, even if it is established that the origins of the Mueller investigation were corrupt.  Paul Mirengoff of Powerline:

Evidence that the Mueller investigation stems from serious wrongdoing by the FBI might cause Trump to pull the plug.  He might think it gives him the cover he needs to do what, I assume, he has long wanted to do.

But will it truly give him that cover?  Mueller and his backers already seem to be shifting their focus, at least with regard to Trump, to alleged obstruction of justice.  It will be easy for Mueller and his backers in the Democratic Party and the media to argue that this aspect of the investigation ought not be shut down, regardless of how the “collusion” investigation arose.

Michael Flynn and George Papadopoulos have already pleaded guilty to making false statements to the FBI.  Thus, for purposes of discussion, there are crimes in the picture.  Hypothetically, if Trump tried to obstruct the prosecution of Flynn, let’s say, the matter would be worth pursuing regardless of any hanky-panky with the FISA court filing.

I have no reason to believe that Trump obstructed justice in this or any other respect.  My point is that Trump might well have a difficult time in the court of public if he used “bombshell” information about the FBI as his basis for sacking Mueller.

Right now, the hashtag #Releasethememo is trending, in an attempt to force public disclosure, something the Democrats are likely to fight tooth and nail.  It is unclear what steps would be necessary to do so, but Paul Ryan’s support, possibly declassification, and possibly Justice Department approval might be necessary, according to various observers.

Meanwhile, PBS, of all sources, has published a handy chart showing the players and their relationships.  The people over there would never use a word like “cabal,” but this comes as close as anything I have seen to organizing the complicated situation.

Report: California Mayor Vows to ‘Go to Jail’ to Protect ‘Sanctuary City’ Policies Amid Immigration Crackdown

Report: California Mayor Vows to ‘Go to Jail’ to Protect ‘Sanctuary City’ Policies Amid Immigration Crackdown

The mayor of Oakland, California, is vowing to face jail time to protect illegal aliens from facing America’s immigration laws as the Trump administration plans to ramp up its enforcement of those laws, a report says.

During his campaign for president and several times since, President Donald Trump has threatened to starve so-called “sanctuary cities” of federal funding. Some reports recently claimed that the administration is set to focus on California for a new wave of raids setting the stage for more deportations of illegals.

With the pressure on sanctuary cities, especially in California, Oakland mayor Libby Schaaf is grandstanding that she would risk going to jail to oppose immigration officials from deporting illegals in her town.

In an interview with San Francisco’s CBS affiliate, Schaaf slammed Trump as the “bully in chief.”

“It is no surprise that the bully in chief is continuing to try to intimidate our most vulnerable residents,” Schaaf said. “We’re very clear that our values are to protect all of our residents regardless of where we come from. We want to protect families, not tear them apart.”

“We are exercising our legal right to be a Sanctuary City and to protect our residents,” the mayor added. “The fact that the federal government is suggesting that it is actively retaliating against jurisdictions that are exercising their right to have sanctuary policies — that is what is illegal.”

Schaaf said she is willing to go to jail to protect illegal aliens.

The Oakland City Council firmly backed the mayor, too.

Firstly, Oakland has set aside one million in tax dollars to help defend illegals who are gathered up by immigration officials. Secondly, the council voted unanimously to discontinue cooperation with ICE officials.

“The View” Says You Can’t Support Trump and Be a Christian

Failing to recognize the issues rotting within their own party, the liberal hosts on ABC’s “The View” claimed it’s not possible to be both a Christian and a supporter of President Donald Trump.

On Thursday, the panel discussed a recent report claiming that Trump’s personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, paid adult film star Stormy Daniels $130,000 prior to last year’s presidential election to keep quiet about an affair that allegedly happened between her and Trump in 2006.

As noted by the Independent Journal Review, Cohen not only denied the report, but also released a statement that was signed by Daniels admitting that she never had an affair with Trump and did not take a payoff to remain quiet about it.

After pointing all of that out to the left-wing panel, co-host Meghan McCain said the Daniels’ story was a nothing more than recycled tabloid garbage that no publication had picked up for years because the story had major credibility issues.

But guest host Yvette Nicole Brown disagreed, and peddled the utterly ridiculous theory that one cannot support Trump and be a Christian at the same time.

TRENDING: Peace Corps Volunteer Does 180 After Living in Africa: ‘Trump Was Right’

Watch the full show below, with the conversation surrounding Trump supporters not being Christians beginning around the 2:00 mark:

“I feel like, and we talked about this earlier, we’re missing out on what the Bible actually says. We’re supposed to love each other, that’s all we’re supposed to do. We’re not supposed to judge, we’re not supposed to point fingers,” Brown said.

She added: “So, when you get to a point where you have a candidate who is not loving his own wife, is not loving the people in the country, is not loving immigrants or black folks, that makes him a no, whether he’s cheating on Melania or not.”

Do you think a person can be a Democrat and a Christian?

Not a single panelist made a peep in opposition when Brown said Trump doesn’t love first lady Melania Trump or immigrants and black people in the country, or while she told people it is a sin to judge and point fingers while simultaneously judging and pointing fingers at Trump and his supporters.

How anyone can say they follow God and this man? I don’t see how the two mix. They don’t,” she said.

Oh really? How about the Democrats who support the killing hundreds of thousands of babies each year at Planned Parenthood? Or Nancy Pelosi who claims she’s a practicing Catholic, yet takes a hard-line pro-abortion stane?

During their coverage denigrating Trump supporters, these liberals also made zero mention of top Democrats like former President Bill Clinton, movie producer Harvey Weinstein, or former Minnesota Democrat Sen. Al Franken who all have been (only recently) excoriated because of their sexual misconduct.

Clinton was impeached in the House of Representatives for lying about an affair with White House intern Monica Lewinsky, Weinstein was kicked out of Hollywood after dozens of women accused him of sexual abuse, and Franken resigned from the Senate amid numerous allegations of sexual impropriety — but apparently one can support these perverts and still be a Christian.

It is amazing to see such illogical statements coming from the party of Clinton and Weinstein.

But in the era of opposing Trump by whatever means necessary, many won’t be surprised to see liberals taking such a hypocritical stance on this issue.

Please like and share this story on Facebook and Twitter with your thoughts on Brown saying someone cannot be a Trump supporter and a Christian.
