Is DACA amnesty worth risking a gov’t shutdown? A new poll has bad news for Democrats

A new poll from CNN shows that most people do not believe it’s worth a government shutdown in order to achieve a deal that would give a form of amnesty to DACA “Dreamers.”

Here are the poll results:

Just over a third of Americans believe it’s important to have a DACA amnesty extension and risk a government shutdown (34 percent). A majority, 56 percent, say avoiding a government shutdown is more important than continuing Obama’s DACA program.

Only 49 percent of Democrats value DACA above a budget deal, while 75 percent of Republicans and 57 percent of Independents say avoiding the shutdown is more important than securing amnesty for illegals.

Half would blame Republicans for shutdown

The poll also shows that more Americans would blame either Trump or congressional Republicans for the shutdown if it happens. Only 31 percent would blame Democrats, while 21 percent would blame Trump, and 26 percent would blame the Republicans. Another 10 percent would blame all three groups.

In response to the poll, the official social media account for the office of Senator Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) tweeted, “But good news: We can do both because DACA is not on deadline today. This is a manufactured crisis.”

Can this poll be trusted?

The poll was conducted for CNN by SSRS with respondents questioned between January 14 and 18. 1,005 adults were polled. The poll has a margin of error of +/- 3.7 percentage points.

Breaking: Man who assaulted Rand Paul hit with federal charges

Two months after Senator Rand Paul (R-Ky.) was assaulted while mowing his lawn at his home in Kentucky, the man who attacked him is facing federal charges.

Here’s the charges he’s facing:

The United States Attorney’s Office in the Southern District of Indiana released a statement describing the charges Friday.

The statement said that 58-year-old Rene A. Boucher was charged with felony assault of a member of Congress.

“Assaulting a member of Congress is an offense we take very seriously,” said U.S. Attorney Minkler. “Those who choose to commit such an act will be held accountable.”

“According to court documents,” the statement continued, “Boucher and the victim are neighbors in Bowling Green, Kentucky.”

“On November 3, 2017, the victim was mowing his yard while wearing headphones,” it added. “Boucher allegedly witnessed the victim stack brush onto a pile near the victim’s property and ‘had enough.’ Boucher ran onto the victim’s property and tackled the victim.”

“As a result of this assault, the victim suffered multiple fractured ribs and subsequently contracted and required medical attention for pneumonia,” the statement explained. “Boucher admitted the assault but denied it was politically motivated.”

Here’s the punishment Boucher faces

The statement indicates that Boucher signed a plea deal, but it does not say what the deal is. If convicted, he faces 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.

Mystery motivation

The lack of a publicly announced motivation for the attack spurred many conspiracy theories, but the statement appears to indicate that Boucher was merely angry that Paul had stacked brush onto his property.

Rand Paul suffered with 6 broken bones because of the assault that consisted of Boucher tackling him from behind.

‘PEOPLE WILL GO TO JAIL’: #ReleaseTheMemo Trends As Republicans Call For Releasing ‘SHOCKING’ Classified Memo Showing ‘FISA Abuses’ In Russian Collusion Investigation

On Thursday, Republican members of the House took to Twitter to call for the release of a classified intelligence memo they say could blow the lid off the Russian collusion investigation. House Intelligence Committee Republicans voted to make a classified report on FISA abuse available to House members, who could read the report behind closed doors. Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) appeared on Fox Business Network, where he stated that the memo challenged “the very foundations of democracy,” adding, “if the American people knew what was happening if they saw the contents of this memo, a lot would become clear about the information that I’ve been talking about the last several months.” The memo concerns the Obama FBI, Department of Justice, and then-candidate Trump.

Gaetz added, “I think that this will not end just with firings. I believe there are people who will go to jail. You don’t get to try to undermine our country, undermine our elections, and then simply get fired.”

Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC) stated, “I viewed the classified report from House Intel relating to the FBI, FISA abuses, the infamous Russian dossier, and so-called ‘Russian collusion.’ What I saw is absolutely shocking.”

So, what could be in the memo? An educated guess would suggest that the memo shows that the FBI initiated its investigation based on the so-called Steele Dossier, a compendium of opposition research compiled by Fusion GPS on the instructions of the Democratic National Committee. If it is indeed the case that FISA warrants were requested on the basis of DNC-funded opposition research, that would appear to politicize the FBI in serious ways. Lee Smith of Tablet Magazine correctly writes:

[I]f the FBI and Department of Justice used a piece of opposition research paid for by a political campaign as evidence for a warrant to intercept the communications of a rival campaign—and the questions asked by congressional investigators suggest they did—then we are now living in a very different America than the one that generations of civil libertarians and small-government conservatives alike desired to maintain, and which large majorities in Congress have repeatedly voted for. The DOJ, the FBI and perhaps the CIA would be embroiled in a scandal likely to have long-lasting and sweeping consequences for intelligence collection, national security, and the safety and privacy of American citizens, to say nothing of how it will demoralize federal law enforcement, which will appear to be mired in partisanship and political corruption. Even more disconcerting is the increasing likelihood that the Steele dossier was used as a platform for a Russian information operation, which successfully managed to leverage nearly the entire American press corps and sections of the security bureaucracy toward the goal of encouraging Americans to rip their own country apart.

Buckle your seatbelts. This could be a bumpy ride.

Illegal Immigrant Heroin Ring from Mexico Busted in Denver

A Mexico-linked heroin trafficking ring operating in the Denver metro area was busted after a 61-count grand jury indictment accused six men of racketeering activities from April to December 2017. Five defendants were living in the U.S. illegally.

According to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, four of the men had been deported multiple times and detainers were issued for four of the six defendants. One of the six’s immigration status was still unknown, and one is not yet in custody according to the Denver Post

The six were indicted as a result of a long-term investigation conducted by the West Metro Drug Task Force, which made undercover purchases or seized 3,305 grams of heroin. Search warrants at four stash houses reportedly turned up an additional 3,215 grams of heroin and $6,700.

The investigation revealed that the defendants were allegedly importing heroin from outside of Colorado and using multiple stash houses in the Denver metro area to store drugs.

According to investigators, buyers would call a point of contact who would act as a dispatcher and arrange where drugs would be delivered. A runner would meet the buyer, and return the cash to a defendant identified as Fermin Flores-Rosales, 41, who then allegedly wired the buy money to banks in Mexico.

According to ICE, Flores-Rosales, his co-defendants Cristobal Flores-Rosales, 47; Yoel Soto-Campos, 21; and Joel Torrez-Espinoza, 25; were illegally in the United States. Torrez-Espinoza was previously convicted in 2012 in Utah of felony possession with intent to distribute cocaine.

A fifth defendant, Mario Acosta-Ruiz aka Alfonso Rosales-Alverez, was in the U.S. illegally from Mexico as well.

A sixth defendant, 24-year-old Juan Borques Meza, was also indicted. ICE did not share information on his immigration status. Torrez-Espinoza was identified as the defendant not yet in custody.

All six defendants were charged with criminal conspiracy and racketeering for violating the Colorado Organized Crime Control Act (COCCA) and for the alleged distribution of drugs.

District Attorney Peter Weir said, “This indictment and the dismantling of this heroin ring goes a long way towards stopping the flow of heroin into our community.”

Robert Arce is a retired Phoenix Police detective with extensive experience working Mexican organized crime and street gangs. Arce has worked in the Balkans, Iraq, Haiti, and recently completed a three-year assignment in Monterrey, Mexico, working out of the Consulate for the United States Department of State, International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Program, where he was the Regional Program Manager for Northeast Mexico (Coahuila, Tamaulipas, Nuevo Leon, Durango, San Luis Potosi, Zacatecas.)

VIDEO: Illegal Alien Accused of Murdering Two Cops Tells Courtroom: ‘I Wish I Killed More of Those Motherf****ers’

An illegal alien accused of murdering two California police officers told the courtroom during his trial Tuesday that he “wished” he had killed more officers.

“I wish I had killed more of the motherf*ckers,” the illegal alien said, according to the video.

“I will break out soon, and I will kill more, kill whoever gets in front of me. … There’s no need for a f*cking trial,” the illegal alien said as he flashed a grin.

Luis Bracamontes, 37, of Mexico allegedly shot and killed Sacramento-area sheriff’s deputies in 2014 and admitted to the crime in several court appearances.

He is also accused of shooting a driver in the head to steal his vehicle and wounding another deputy.

Judge Steve White told the jury to leave the courtroom as it became clear that Bracamontes planned to continue his expletive-laced tirade.

“I don’t f***ing regret that s***. Only thing that I f***ing regret is that I f***ing just killed two. I wish I killed more of those motherf***ers. … I will break out soon, and I will kill more–whoever f***ing get in front of me, just like that. There’s no need for a f***ing trial,” Bracamontes said.

Judge White warned Bracamontes that he would remove him from the courtroom if he continued his tirade. Then, he invited the jury back inside the court.

Bracamontes is facing the death penalty and life in prison for his role in the alleged killings, although his defense is trying to convince jurors that he should receive a lighter sentence.

In February 2017, Breitbart News reported that President Trump invited Jessica Davis and Susan Oliver, the widows of the two slain officers, to his joint address before Congress.

We shouldn’t know about the upcoming ICE sweep in San Francisco

Hey, did you hear that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is about to unleash one of the widest, most sweeping operations ever to detain illegal aliens in the San Francisco area? There’s a good chance you did because it’s been all over the news, including at FOX.

Federal officials are planning a major sweep of the Bay Area and other Northern California areas in the coming weeks as part of an operation to target more than 1,500 undocumented immigrants in the area, The San Francisco Chronicle reported, citing a source familiar with the matter.

The source told The Chronicle that the sweep is expected to be the largest of its kind since President Trump took office.ICE officials declined to comment on the operation, the paper reported.

Upon hearing about the planned the operation Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., accused the Trump administration of trying to make a political point.

California has clashed with law enforcement over immigration enforcement for a number of years. In October, California Governor Jerry Brown signed SB54 into law, which effectively limits local police from cooperating with federal authorities.

Well, that’s pretty great, isn’t it? The President said he’d be cracking down on illegal aliens and DHS has been carrying out that directive. And if you happen to support stronger border security and enforcement of our immigration laws, this is a welcome sign. But there is one, pesky little question we might also be asking right about now.

Why do we know about this?

The story was leaked by “a source familiar with the matter.” (As usual.) Do you really believe that Homeland Security or the specific officials at ICE responsible for making this happen wanted it all over the headlines? If they did they could have put out a press release or had the Press Secretary make an announcement during the afternoon press scrum at the White House. But no… they probably wouldn’t do that because all that’s been accomplished is to warn all the prospective targets that the agents are on the way so they can move out of their usual digs and not show up to their (illegally held) jobs for a while.

So who put this out? Maybe one of the ICE agents… maybe someone embedded fairly deeply at DHS. But either way, you can be assured that it was somebody who wasn’t onboard with Trump’s agenda. And the fact that Dianne Feinstein was out with a prepared statement opposing the operation so quickly gives us a fair indication that she was brought into the leaking loop rather fast.

And while we’re on the subject, how is it that a member of the United States Senate is making a public statement in opposition to immigration officials doing their jobs? Yes, yes… we get that you come from “the sanctuary state” and you have to impress your donors, but nobody is asking for local law enforcement to take part here. The feds are doing it on their own and they are targeting people who are in the country illegally. As a member of the Senate aren’t you supposed to be onboard with, you know… enforcing the law?

The fact remains that this sweep wouldn’t be needed if ICE had the normal level of cooperation with state and local law enforcement. If they could pick up illegal aliens who are nabbed by the cops while they were still in jail cells, ICE agents wouldn’t have to chase them around in your communities. That’s far more dangerous to both the agents and the public anyway. But you had a choice of doing it the easy way or the hard way. You chose the hard way, but apparently you’re going to continue to make it even harder.

Apple To Pump $350 Billion into Economy and Pay $38 Billion In Taxes Thanks To Trump Tax Reform, Will They Buy Netflix?

Apple To Pump $350 Billion into Economy and Pay $38 Billion In Taxes Thanks To Trump Tax Reform, Will They Buy Netflix?

Apple has announced it will pay $38 billion in taxes to the U.S. government to return money it had stashed overseas. Apple has $252.3 billion in cash abroad.

In addition, the tech giant announced today it has plans to open a new facility and add 20,000 employees over the next five years.

Apple’s new plans include $350 billion in U.S. investments.

Apple’s sudden repatriation of cash and plans to spend billions inside the U.S. economy are thanks in part to President Trump’s tax reform.

The expected return of Apple’s cash has already fueled speculation that Apple might be looking to acquire Netflix.

“The burning question on the Street’s mind is: does Cook make a big bet with this infusion of cash and do a larger deal (e.g. Netflix) to catalyze and jump start its streaming video/content business,” a GBH research note reads.

Senior Democratic Staffer: ‘We Do Not Care About Anti-Semitism’

A senior policy adviser to Democratic senator Patty Murray (Wash.) said her office in the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions does "not care about anti-Semitism," according to two people who attended the meeting.

The HELP committee is currently weighing the nomination of Ken Marcus as assistant secretary for civil rights at the Department of Education. Marcus has been the target of an aggressive campaign waged by leading anti-Israel groups seeking to derail his nomination. Marcus has worked to combat the boycott, divestment, and sanctions (BDS) movement on college campuses and is the founder of the Louis D. Brandeis Center for Human Rights Under Law, a pro-Israel group.

During a meeting on November 28 with Sarah N. Stern, a former colleague of Marcus and president of the Endowment for Middle East Truth, a senior adviser to Murray on the HELP committee told Stern the committee does not "care about anti-Semitism in this office."

"We don’t care about anti-Semitism in this office," Murray’s senior adviser said. "We care about transgenders, we care about blacks, we care about Hispanics, we care about gays, we care about lesbians, we care about the disabled."

"We don’t care about anti-Semitism in this office," he said.

Stern’s aide Jennifer Dekel confirmed the comments and said she was taking notes during the meeting.

Stern first addressed the comments revealing that Democratic members are not concerned about the anti-Semitic elements of the campaign against Marcus in an editorial for the Jewish News Service, published Tuesday. She provided the full quote to the Washington Free Beacon, saying she found the remarks "particularly egregious."

Eli Zupnick, a spokesman for Sen. Murray, questioned the accuracy of the remarks attributed to the senior adviser, saying, "This is not an accurate quote and certainly doesn’t reflect the position of the office."

The senior adviser did not immediately respond to request for comment.

The campaign against Marcus is being led by numerous anti-Israel groups, including the Arab American Institute, led by James Zogby who has referred to Israelis as "Nazis"; the National Students for Justice in Palestine, which has members who have openly celebrated murderers of Jews; and Palestine Legal, which has defended professors who have posted anti-Semitic comments online.

In her editorial, Stern details Marcus’s record on the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights and as the assistant secretary of education for civil rights under the George W. Bush administration, where he expressed commitment to "aggressively prosecute harassment" against students of all religions.

Stern also noted under Marcus, the Brandeis Center sent several letters to universities "decrying racism against Muslims and African Americans on their campuses." For instance, he wrote to the president of San Diego University in November 2015 denouncing an attack against a Muslim student, saying, "While our organization primarily addresses the rights of Jewish college students, we support the right of all students to be free from invidious discrimination."

Marcus condemned the incident, in which a female Muslim student was grabbed by her headscarf and called a terrorist, as a "hate crime."

"We are appalled by this act of hate, and we urge you to take immediate action by condemning this incident and announcing that hate crimes of any kind will not be tolerated at SDSU," Marcus wrote.

"Does this sound like the sentiment of a racist or an Islamophobe?" Stern asked.

"Yet while I was recently talking about Marcus with a senior policy adviser to the Democratic ranking member of the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions, the adviser interrupted me with the response, ‘We do not care about anti-Semitism in this office,’" she wrote.

Sen. Murray serves as the ranking member of the HELP committee.

Palestine Legal, one of the anti-Israel groups targeting Marcus, has used the ranking member in its campaign against his nomination. The group, which is a leading activist for BDS, praised Murray for "grilling" Marcus during his confirmation hearing.

Marcus was scheduled for a committee markup last week, but it was delayed for scheduling reasons. He was originally nominated in late October, but his nomination was shelved into the new year.

MLK’s Niece Comes to Trump Defense, Refutes “Racist” Claims

One of the many tracks pursued by the liberal media in opposition to President Donald Trump — aside from the crumbling Russian collusion and now-debunked mental incompetence narratives — is that the leader of the free world is an unrepentant bigoted and hateful racist.

But Alveda King, niece of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., who has supported Trump since his 2016 campaign for the presidency, would beg to differ with that characterization of a man she has come to know quite well.

During an appearance Saturday on “Fox & Friends,” King stated, “‘Racism’ is just a word that has been bandied and thrown about and thrown at the president, in my opinion, unjustly. President Trump is not a racist.”

She spoke of being with Trump as he signed legislation upgrading her uncle’s birthplace from a national historic site to a national historical park, praised him for the honor he had shown toward her uncle, and agreed with the notion that some corrupt nations in Africa and around the world could be described as “hellholes.”

On Monday, the day set aside to honor the life and achievements of Martin Luther King Jr., his niece made another appearance on “Fox & Friends” to once again refute the liberal narrative that Trump was a racist person, according to The Daily Caller.

“I don’t believe Donald John Trump is a racist,” King said. “Look at everything. The economy is up. Jobs are up in the black community. There is great promise to get a lot of people who have been unfairly incarcerated out.

“So there are so many economic opportunities — opportunities for babies in the womb,” she added.

Do you believe Dr. Alveda King’s assertion that President Trump isn’t a racist person?

The latest iteration of the “Trump is racist” meme stemmed from reports that the president had dubbed certain nations to be “s***hole countries” during a private discussion with lawmakers in the White House regarding congressional efforts at immigration reform, according to the Washington Examiner.

But Trump and others who were in the room have denied that he ever used that specific word, though they have admitted that he used “tough language” during the discussion, as did others who were present, according to testimony from Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielson.

King was not finished with her defense of Trump though, and stated, “The president is working for America, period, as he is draining the swamp. And African-Americans are benefiting.”

“Our jobs are going up. Our unemployment is going down,” she continued. “Companies are saying they are going to raise their own minimum wage and do bonuses because of the tax cuts.

“So, the president is helping the African-American community. And I don’t believe President Donald John Trump is a racist,” she added.

So there you have it folks, straight from the mouth of a woman who grew up in the shadow of a great civil rights leader who dedicated and sacrificed his life to the battle against actual racism.

Donald Trump wasn’t considered a racist prior to entering the presidential race, and despite constant media outcry to the contrary, he still isn’t a racist, but is instead somebody who wants to help Americans of all colors and creeds succeed and live peaceful and productive lives.

Please share this on Facebook and Twitter so everyone can see Alveda King knock down the liberal narrative that President Trump is a racist person.

Trump Keeps Promise, Pulls Funding from UN

In a pair of tweets published on Jan. 2, President Donald Trump noted that despite the United States giving “hundreds of millions of dollars” in aid to the Palestinians, they show little appreciation or respect for that aid and have been unwilling to enter into peace talks with Israel.

The tweets suggested that the Trump administration could reduce foreign aid to the Palestinians, and according to a report Saturday from The Associated Press, that appears to be under discussion among top level members of his cabinet.

The move came following more than a month of exceptionally hostile rhetoric toward Trump and the U.S. from Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. The rhetoric began after Trump officially recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, a recognition Abbas said was unacceptable to any sort of peace agreement.

According to those reports, plans to dramatically reduce U.S. contributions to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency — which largely focuses on providing aid and services to Palestinians throughout the Middle East — were on the verge of being finalized.

The plan would entail the delivery of only $60 million to the U.N. agency instead of the scheduled first installment of $125 million. The U.S. contributed $355 million in 2016 and was expected to match that again this year, but not any longer. However, the full amount could be restored if the Palestinians meet certain unspecified goals, such as a resumption of peace talks.

TRENDING: Rand Paul Reveals “Racist” Trump Reached Into Own Pocket to Help Haiti

The cut of $65 million from the contribution was actually a compromise supported by Defense Secretary James Mattis and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, who found common ground between not changing the budget and eliminating the aid altogether, a position staked out by Ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley.

According to Reuters, Trump made good on his promise to reduce aid to the U.N. and Palestinians on Tuesday, as the cut in aid was officially announced.

Of course, the cut in aid was heavily criticized by Palestinians and the U.N., with some expressing concern over how the UNRWA would meet all of their goals with the shortfall in cash. The Trump administration suggested the lack of funds could be made up by larger donations to the agency from other European nations.

UNRWA Commissioner-General Pierre Krähenbühl said the reduced aid “threatens one of the most successful and innovative human development endeavors in the Middle East.”

Do you think the U.S. should cut aid to nations and organizations that don’t respect us?

Israel has taken a decidedly different position on the matter. “UNRWA has proven time and again to be an agency that misuses the humanitarian aid of the international community and instead supports anti-Israel propaganda, perpetuates the plight of Palestinian refugees and encourages hate,” Israel’s Ambassador to the U.N. Danny Danon stated bluntly.

Indeed, The Daily Wire pointed out that the UNRWA, among other U.N. agencies, has been shown to hold a strong anti-Israel bias and is alleged to have knowingly allowed their funds to be used to indoctrinate young Palestinian children to hate Israel and support terrorism.

It was reported that children in schools funded by the agency were being taught chants about killing Jews and some had even pledged their allegiance to the Islamic State terror group.

Members of the agency are also believed to have expressed their support for violent acts against the state of Israel — who they view as an “occupying force” — and promoted blockade-breaking terrorist-supporting flotillas to Gaza.

RELATED: MLK’s Niece Comes to Trump Defense, Refutes “Racist” Claims

Furthermore, it has been alleged that the agency has allowed known members of Hamas — which is an officially recognized terrorist organization — to not only use U.N.-funded facilities to further their anti-Israel agenda, but also even employed known members of Hamas as staff in certain facilities.

President Trump has long pointed out that the U.S. contributes far too much in aid to the U.N. and other nations that don’t respect us, and promised to reduce that aid and put it toward making America great again instead. This is just one of many promises that he has kept so far.

Please share this story on Facebook to let everyone know about the cut in U.S. foreign aid to the U.N. agency that assists Palestinians.
