After decades of past administrations kicking the can down the road, President Donald Trump’s administration is finally enforcing immigration laws… but many people are having are hard time coming to terms with the change.

It’s safe to say that Jorge Garcia is one of them. The foreign national was just deported to Mexico after living illegally in the United States for 30 years, and his family is now speaking out about the decision.

“I’m trying to be strong. I just want to get my story out there,” Jorge’s wife, Cindy Garcia, said during a CNN appearance, according to The Hill.

“As depressed as I am — and I just want to scream and cry and lay in bed and not move — I know that I have to come forward for the people who cannot, and tell our story,” she continued, according to a RealClear Politics transcript.

“And how devastated we are that our case should have been looked at as an individual case and not as a whole because my husband is not a criminal.”

It should be noted that Jorge doesn’t deny that he lived illegally in the U.S. for three decades, which throws a bit of cold water on his wife’s “not a criminal” claim.

However, the case is predictably being used by the left as a rallying point against the enforcement of immigration laws, and Trump in particular.

“Jorge Garcia was brought to the U.S. by an undocumented family member when he was 10 years old. Today he has a wife and two children, all of whom are U.S. citizens,” reported the Detroit Free Press.

“His supporters say he has no criminal record — not even a traffic ticket — and pays taxes every year,” continued the Michigan newspaper.

Garcia apparently took steps toward gaining lawful U.S. residency since 2005, but ran into problems. He’s been essentially staying in America on borrowed time since the Obama administration.

“In November, Jorge Garcia, who was too old to qualify for protection under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, was ordered to return to Mexico by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) after receiving extensions of his removal since 2009,” reported The Hill.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement gave Garcia one final extension so that he could spend the holidays with his family.

It’s a tough case. On one hand, all indications are that Jorge Garcia is the kind of good person who we should want coming to the country.

It certainly wasn’t his fault that he was brought across the border illegally when he was just a boy, and if the reports are accurate, he’s tried to make things right by seeking to become legal and being a responsible person.

On the other hand, even Garcia doesn’t deny that he was here illegally.

And that’s the point. Even if all illegal immigrants were otherwise upstanding members of the community, they would still be violating the law by being in the country without permission.

And the fact is, all illegal immigrants are not like Jorge Garcia. There’s a reason that illegal immigrant communities are crime-ridden, and that illegal aliens make up a segment of the federal prison population wildly out of proportion to their numbers compared to American citizens.

Contrary to what liberals would like America to believe, all illegal immigrants are not huddled masses yearning to breathe free. The population contains criminals, idlers and even terrorists — none of whom should even be in the country in the first place.

And it’s not the job of a Border Patrol officer or Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent to decide who should stay and who should go.

The job of law enforcement agencies like ICE is to, well, enforce the law, and cherry-picking which offenses to enforce and which to purposely ignore is a slippery slope, ironically enough, toward the kind of police corruption and favoritism that occurs in places like Mexico. It’s also a big part of how the country got into the illegal immigration mess it’s in.

If anything, this case shows how broken DACA is, and how badly the country needs to re-vamp the immigration system.

Most Americans — conservatives included — are not against immigration. They simply want laws to be followed and the numbers to make sense.

Every sovereign nation has the right to decide how many immigrants to invite, and what rules should be in place. That isn’t unique to the United States, and countries ranging from Mexico to Switzerland to New Zealand all have their own strict border policies.

There is definitely room for a serious debate about how to fix the existing problems, and people like Jorge Garcia can perhaps be at the top of the waiting list when that happens.

The West Virginia state Senate is considering a bill that would require all schools to provide an elective course on the Bible.

The proposed legislation would require public and private schools to offer a course that would cover either Hebrew scriptures, the Old Testament or the New Testament, WHSV-TV reported.

Republican state Sens. Mike Azinger and Sue Cline introduced Senate Bill 252, which would allow students to choose which courses they would like to take.

The bill would require “federal and state laws to be followed regarding religious neutrality, while accommodating the diverse religious views of students.”

The purpose of the courses would be to teach students the history of the Bible, including its literary style and its influence on society, WSAZ reported.

The legislation stated that the courses “may not endorse, favor, or promote, or disfavor or show hostility toward, any particular religion or nonreligious faith or religious perspective,” according to federal law.

SB 252 has been sent to the Senate Education Committee, and if it becomes law, the Bible electives would be made available at all grade levels.

Reaction to the proposition has been mixed, and the ACLU claimed such classes may violate the Constitution.

Of course it did.

Eli Baumwell, policy director for the ACLU of West Virginia, told WDTV that the classes were a bad idea.

“We know from experience that when these courses are offered even as an elective, there can be a lot of social pressure and even pressure from teachers and school administrators,” he said.

Pressure to do what?

The only pressure most teachers and school administrators have applied in recent years is to suppress any mention of Christianity at schools while supporting such nonsensical ideas as transgender boys using girls restrooms and a gay Santa Claus.

Dr. Mark A. Staples, pastor at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Fairmont, had a more open view of the classes.

“It could be so helpful for students, not so much for promoting a particular type of religion but I think there’s a lot of historical as well as biblical pieces that can be very important for students to understand,” he said.

It certainly couldn’t hurt anything.

While this legislation has yet to pass, it would be a big step for religious freedom if it did.

Via the San Francisco Chronicle “Feds planning massive Northern California immigration sweep to strike against sanctuary laws”:

U.S. immigration officials have begun preparing for a major sweep in San Francisco and other Northern California cities in which federal officers would look to arrest more than 1,500 undocumented people while sending a message that immigration policy will be enforced in the sanctuary state, according to a source familiar with the operation.

Officials at Immigration and Customs Enforcement, known as ICE, declined to comment Tuesday on plans for the operation.

The campaign, centered in the Bay Area, could happen within weeks, and is expected to become the biggest enforcement action of its kind under President Trump, said the source, who requested anonymity because the plans have not been made public.

Trump has expressed frustration that sanctuary laws — which seek to protect immigrants and persuade them not to live in the shadows by restricting cooperation between local and federal authorities — get in the way of his goal of tightening immigration.

The operation would go after people who have been identified as targets for deportation, including those who have been served with final deportation orders and those with criminal histories, the source said. The number could tick up if officers come across other undocumented immigrants in the course of their actions and make what are known as collateral arrests.

Told of the planned sweep, California Sen. Dianne Feinstein expressed outrage Tuesday, saying immigrants “must not be targeted in raids solely because they are Californians.” She said a large-scale operation would show that “the administration is carrying out its enforcement actions to make a political point and not based on the security of the country.”

The source who spoke to The Chronicle said the plan calls for immigration officers to be flown in from other parts of the country to help carry out the operation. The sweep could span more than one day and will include enforcement of work sites suspected of illegally employing undocumented immigrants, the source said.

An ICE spokesman in San Francisco, James Schwab, said in an email Tuesday that the agency “doesn’t comment on future or current operations.”

The Chronicle story depends on an anonymous source so it’s either hogwash or there are more partisan hacks who are leaking classified information to the media to undermine the efforts of the Department of Homeland Security and the Trump administration to enforce the law.

Feinstein’s donors are understandably furious over a hardline approach to immigration policy that directly affects their bottom lines by depriving them of the illegal aliens that they need to keep wages down.

Whether or not the story of the raid is true, it has already been compromised by a rat from within who has not only given criminal illegals time to relocate but has also potentially put the lives of ICE agents in danger. Where in the hell is Attorney General Jeff Sessions and his promised investigation of leaks? This one could get someone killed.
