NYC judge rules that bars can kick out Trump supporters

A Pennsylvania man who sued a New York City bar that booted him out for being a supporter of President Donald Trump lost his case in a Manhattan courtroom Wednesday, the New York Post reported.

Manhattan Supreme Court Justice David Cohen ruled it’s “not outrageous” to toss out Trump supporters from bars because there are no laws to protect against political discrimination.

What happened?

Greg Piatek, a 31-year-old accountant, stopped by The Happiest Hour in West Village after he paid his respects at the 9/11 Memorial in January 2017, and shortly after Trump was sworn into office.

Piatek, who wore a “Make America Great Again” hat into the bar, said he and his buddies received rude service from the bartender.

“Anyone who supports Trump — or believes in what you believe — is not welcome here! And you need to leave right now because we won’t serve you!” Piatek claimed he was told after he complained about the service.

So, Piatek filed a lawsuit for an unspecified amount for emotional damages against. He claimed the bar “offended his sense of being American.”

The Happiest Hour’s lawyer Elizabeth Conway told the judge that state and city laws protect against religious discrimination, not political beliefs, and “supporting Trump is not a religion.”

The plaintiff’s lawyer told the judge that Piatek’s hat is part of his spiritual belief.

“The purpose of the hat is that he wore it because he was visiting the 9/11 Memorial,” attorney Paul Liggieri said in court. “He was paying spiritual tribute to the victims of 9/11. The ‘Make American Great Again’ hat was part of his spiritual belief.”

What did the bar employees want?

The bar’s employees wanted Piatek to take off the hat.

“Rather than remove his hat, instead he held true to his spiritual belief and was forced from the bar,” Liggieri said.

Cohen asked how the employees would know of Piatek’s “unusual religious beliefs?”

“They were aware he was wearing the hat,” Liggieri answered.

“How many members are in this spiritual program that your client is engaged in?” Cohen asked.

“Your honor, we don’t allege the amount of individuals,” Liggieri said.

“So, it’s a creed of one?” Cohen asked Liggieri.

“Yes, your honor,” Liggieri replied.

After a short break, Cohen returned with his ruling.

“Plaintiff does not state any faith-based principle to which the hat relates,” Cohen said. “Here the claim that plaintiff was not served and eventually escorted out of the bar because of his perceived support for President Trump is not outrageous conduct.”

It’s unclear whether Piatek will file an appeal.

Kim Kardashian Joins Kanye in Fight Against Trump-Hating Leftists

Popular rapper Kanye West has sparked incredible confusion and outrage among the left after he posted a number of tweets expressing support for independent thinkers and even President Donald Trump.

The hip-hop artist has been smeared by some on the left as “mentally ill,” unhinged and a sellout to his own race. After all, why else would he express support for an openly “racist” president?

So far, West has refused to be shamed into silence, and now his famous wife Kim Kardashian has jumped into the social media fray in his defense.

Kardashian posted on Twitter that Kanye is “a free thinker, is that not allowed in America?”

According to Fox News, that was but one part of several tweets by Kardashian that were posted to fend off the incessant attacks by leftists against her outspoken husband.

“To the media trying to demonize my husband let me just say this … your commentary on Kanye being erratic & his tweets being disturbing is actually scary,” she began.

Are you glad to see cultural icons like Kanye West and Kim Kardashian speak out in favor of independent thought?

“So quick to label him as having mental health issues for just being himself when he has always been expressive is not fair,” she added.

Kardashian immediately posted a follow-up tweet addressing reports that Kanye had recently parted ways with his manager and lawyer, which of course were chalked up to the deranged actions of a mentally unbalanced individual by the liberal media.

Kardashian tweeted, “Yesterday it was announced that Kanye had parted ways with some business people and media outlets made this about Kanye’s mental health. Rather than just a simple business decision. So I’m glad he tweeted about the state of his company and all of the exciting things happening.”

Moments later, she lowered the boom on the liberal media once again.

“He’s a free thinker, is that not allowed in America? Because some of his ideas differ from yours you have to throw in the mental health card?” she tweeted. “That’s just not fair. He’s actually out of the sunken place when he’s being himself which is very expressive.”

Kanye West has ventured off the progressive plantation of Democrats in which their followers remain mentally enslaved to the left’s dogmatic ideologies — and it appears he might just bring along his wife, her family and millions of his own fans along for the ride.

To say this has the left worried is an understatement, hence the barrage of attacks against West and anyone else who dares speak out independently.

It’s an amazing thing to watch, that’s for sure.

Pro-Gun Dating Site Taking Internet by Storm

Finally, a dating site that guarantees you won’t have to struggle to find something to talk about on your first date.

ProGunDating.com is a new dating website created specifically for lovers … of guns, that it is.

Laura Clark, CEO of the site, says one of the reasons she started the service because of how she was treated by users of other dating sites.

“As someone who has used other popular online dating sites, I was constantly ridiculed about my profile picture, in which I was posing with my AR-15 at a local shooting range,” Clark said in a statement on the site’s Facebook page. “Instead of making excuses or being forced to hide what I believe in, I decided it was time that pro-gun people had their own dating site.”

Clark notes that finding a mate who shares a love of guns and the right to self defense almost certainly helps a relationship have a better chance of succeeding.

“Pro-gun Americans are passionate about the Second Amendment, and what it means to this country,” Clark said. “Being with someone who shares those beliefs is crucial for a relationship’s success, which is why we’ve launched a place for pro-gun, pro-NRA Americans to meet, chat and see where it takes them.”

She also notes the site is a great way to empower female gun owners.

If you are/were single, would you use this site?

“As a female gun-owner, I started this dating site to empower women,” Clark told

Fox News.

“I’m always packing, so I’ll never have to join the #MeToo movement. With a pro-gun dating community, there will be no issues for myself or the many like-minded women who join the site in the future.”

Naturally, there have been critics of Clark’s site, especially her unofficial tagline, “Don’t Date a Hogg, Date a Real American,” a reference to anti-gun advocate David Hogg. But there’s been tremendous support as well.

So far, “the response has been overwhelmingly positive,” Clark said, adding that more than 10,000 Second Amendment supporters have signed up on the site.

Last month, the dating app Bumble announced it would ban profile photos that included guns in response to the deadly shooting at a high school in Parkland, Florida.

Clark says the fact gun owners can be open about their belief in the Second Amendment means they no longer have to wonder if someone they’re interested in dating might feel the same way.

“Single gun-owners are loving the fact that they now have a place where they can meet others who stand with the Second Amendment,” Clark added.

In theory, the benefit to using any dating site is the potential time saved on dates with people who you eventually learn you’re not compatible with.

ProGunDating.com promises you’ll not only find someone who shares your love of guns, but you’ll likely learn their family does, as well.

“At the very least there won’t be any time wasted on meeting an anti-gun liberal who lives in grandma’s basement and protests climate change on the weekends,” according to a press release.

Gov’t Officials Get Nasty Surprise After Threatening Pro-Alfie Protesters

If you have been following the disturbingly dystopian saga of little Alfie Evans, an incredibly ill U.K. toddler condemned to die by the National Health Service — who has refused to release him to receive potentially life-saving treatment elsewhere — then you known tensions surrounding the situation are extremely high.

Local police were brought in by the NHS and Alder Hey Hospital to help enforce a court ruling denying the young boy’s release. Now, it appears those police officers are also keeping a sharp and watchful eye on the people who have expressed their utter disgust at the tragic manner in which it appears the hospital is purposefully killing the sick toddler.

In a Facebook post from the Merseyside Police, Chief Inspector Chris Gibson stated, “Merseyside Police has been made aware of a number of social media posts which have been made with reference to Alder Hey Hospital and the ongoing situation involving Alfie Evans.”

“I would like to make people aware that these posts are being monitored and remind social media users that any offences including malicious communications and threatening behaviour will be investigated and where necessary will be acted upon,” the chief added threateningly.

Needless to say, that threat didn’t go over particularly well in the comments section. For every message of support for the government workers at the police and hospital, there were several more countering them with a decidedly negative view of the situation.

Some remarked on how the NHS and hospital were literally murdering the young boy while the police stood and watched. Others noted that the cops’ focus on the protesters was keeping them from catching real criminals.

Still others expressed great concern over the threatening nature of the post and the chilling effect it has on the free speech of supposedly free Britons, who are increasingly being forced to realize they are no longer free citizens, but rather subjects of an authoritarian government.

Are you concerned by the increasingly authoritarian manner in which the U.K. has cracked down on free speech?

Nor was the backlash against the Merseyside Police confined solely to that post. The department has also been utterly trolled — mostly by Americans proud of the free speech rights they thoroughly enjoy — on other Facebook updates wholly unrelated to the Alfie Evans situation, as can be seen in this post about guns being seized and taken off the streets.

The threat that social media posts would be “monitored” and “acted upon” by police was also put on Twitter. That tweet garnered quite a backlash against the government officials.

Some people defended the actions of the police, and noted that they were merely trying to protect the hospital and hospital employees from physical threats. But others took a much dimmer view of the police message.

Still others keyed in on the line in the statement about “malicious communications.” One user actually dug up the law — the Malicious Communications Act of 1988 — which made it illegal for any subject of the U.K. to send letters or electronic communications that purposely cause distress or anxiety.

In other words, a rather broad and terrifyingly Orwellian law criminalizes certain speech that may cause another person “distress or anxiety” — which is pretty much everything one sees on social media these days. But God forbid the employees of the hospital that have condemned a toddler to die be caused any “distress or anxiety” by angry posts on social media.

Broward Deputies vote ‘no confidence’ in Sheriff Scott Israel

Last week I pointed out this vote was coming. Today, a union representing Broward County Sheriff’s Deputies announced the results of their “no confidence” vote in Sheriff Scott Israel. Those results were overwhelming, with 85% saying they had “no confidence” in the Sheriff. From the Sun-Sentinel:

A deputies’ union said Thursday afternoon that it has “no confidence” in Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel. The union revealed the results of a vote, which indicated 534 out of 628 who voted said they had no confidence in the sheriff.

Jeff Bell, the president of the Broward Sheriff’s Office Deputies Association, said the union’s “members have displayed great courage to come out and vote under threat of retaliation and reprisal from the sheriff.”…

Bell added, “Amazing leadership starts from the top, and there is no amazing leadership here. We are a ship out at sea with no power — adrift.”

Sheriff Israel dismissed the results of the vote hours before they were revealed, suggesting deputies were merely upset that he had denied them a 6.5% raise:

While many deputies were upset over the Sheriff’s handling of the Parkland shooting, CNN’s Rosa Flores reports the last straw for some was his appearance on CNN in which he praised his own “amazing leadership.” Here’s her report:

Governor Rick Scott says he is waiting on the results of a Florida Law Enforcement investigation which he ordered back in February. Under Florida law, Gov. Scott does not have the ability to remove Sheriff Israel from office, but he can suspend him and refer the case to the state Senate which does have authority to remove him. A local news report last month claimed Israel had already vowed to run for office again in 2020 even if he is removed from office now.

Federal judge rules Berkeley must face lawsuit on discrimination against conservative speakers

A federal judge has ruled the University of California, Berkeley, must face a lawsuit that it discriminated against conservative speakers like Ben Shapiro and Ann Coulter, Courthouse News reported. The court dismissed some of the plaintiff’s claims, but allowed others to stand.

U.S. District Judge Maxine Chesney found Wednesday that the plaintiffs presented an adequate argument that the university “used an overly broad events policy to charge excessive fees and impose other unreasonable restrictions on conservative speakers,” according to the report.

Chesney took issue with a section of the policy that allows the university to impose stricter rules based on an event’s “complexity,” according to the report.

She rejected, however, the allegation that the university deliberately tried to squelch conservative viewpoints. She found that some liberal events did not carry the same security issues when compared to conservative speakers.

Also, Chesney dismissed a claim for punitive damages, the report states.

What is the background?

Young America’s Foundation, a conservative youth organization, and Berkeley College Republicans sued University of California President Janet Napolitano (the former secretary of the Department of Homeland Security) and other school officials in April 2017, Courthouse News reported. The lawsuit claims the college unconstitutionally suppressed conservative speech on campus.

The lawsuit was filed shortly after the college cited safety concerns and cancelled an event with conservative commentator Ann Coulter, CNS reported.

College organizers offered to reschedule the event at a venue that was off-campus and during a week when classes were not held, according to the report.

Another complaint in the lawsuit involved “exorbitant” security fees for events that included appearances by Shapiro in September 2017 and conservative writer David Horowitz in April 2017. According to the lawsuit, both events were cancelled because of the expensive security fees.

Chesney found the university charged a much higher ($9,162) security fee for the Shapiro speech than it did for events featuring Supreme Court Justice and Obama appointee Sonia Sotomayor in the same venue, the report said.

In contrast, liberal speakers such as former Mexican President Vicente Fox and former Clinton White House official Maria Echaveste, were allegedly given the opportunity to speak as a central campus location during afternoon and evening hours, according to the plaintiffs.

“We’re very pleased that our lawsuit against UC Berkeley officials in their individual and official capacities is moving forward,” said plaintiffs’ attorney Harmeet Dhillon. “We look forward to litigating these issues.”

How did Berkeley respond?

“We are pleased that the court carefully considered the issues and upheld the Major Events Policy that the campus adopted last year,” Dan Mogulof, assistant vice chancellor of UC Berkeley’s Office of Communications and Public Affairs, said in an email to Courthouse News.

Mogulof also maintained the university was justified in charging the fee, as it had spent more than $800,000 on security expenses for Shapiro’s visit.

“The campus strongly contends that the fees charged were lawful and appropriate, and this ruling does not conclude otherwise,” Mogulof said.

Settlement talks are expected to begin on June 5 with a magistrate judge.

Pro-lifers blasted as ‘pale faces’ at open-mic; Muslim pro-lifer says she was denied chance to speak

Pro-life students were blasted as “pale faces” during an open-mic event — ironically titled, “Speak Out for Justice” — at the University of Minnesota-Duluth while a pro-life Muslim student said she was repeatedly denied the chance to speak, Campus Reform reported.

Student Advocates for Choice member Reilly Manzer ripped into a host of other enemies during Saturday’s event, the outlet said, including “white supremacists I have to call my peers,” those who believe “all lives matter” — which he called “honky nonsense” — as well as the “I-don’t-see-race people” and those who “scream” at him for “kneeling during the national anthem.”

But Manzer had a special message — accented with a couple of F-bombs — for those who oppose abortion.

“I’m f***in’ tired of the pale faces of the pro-life group that compare abortion to slavery and the Holocaust and then go and complain to the university that they’re being discriminated against because people call them the f*** out,” Manzer was heard saying on video.

Campus Reform said Manzer declined to comment to the outlet about his words, which also included a mention of “white fragility,” a takedown of those who disagree with toppling statues of southern Civil War figures — as well as a call to “rise up and rip white supremacy from its roots.”

Here’s the clip. (Content warning: Some strong language):

A Muslim student reportedly wanted to speak as well, but there was a little problem…

Ayah Abuserrieh, a Muslim pro-life student, told Campus Reform she wanted to get behind the mic as well and tell the crowd how her faith informs her support for the pro-life cause.

But she told the outlet that “when I came up to the open-mic, they told me ‘no’ twice. Other students were allowed to speak about things that made them uncomfortable…and I wanted to speak about the harassment that cultural minority groups face on campus.”

Abuserrieh — a prominent member of the Muslim Students Association, College Republicans and Bulldog Students for Life — added to Campus Reform that the open-mic organizers “didn’t even know what I wanted to say” when they denied her request to speak.

She also called Manzer’s characterizations of pro-life students “gross and ridiculous,” the outlet said.

“The idea that the pro-life movement is related to white supremacy…it’s ridiculous that people actually believe that,” Abuserrieh told Campus Reform. “Bulldogs for Life and College Republicans are some of the most inclusive groups on campus. There’s never been a time where [I] — as a Muslim person of color — [have] felt uncomfortable whatsoever.”

This writer’s perspective

Could it be that if the open-mic organizers balked at Abuserrieh’s repeated requests to speak, they did so because they know who she is and what she stands for — and that she’s a “person of color” — and didn’t want to risk seeing that pro-life “pale faces” narrative dismantled before their eyes?

As Campus Reform noted, given Abuserrieh is a prominent member of the Muslim Students Association, College Republicans and Bulldog Students for Life, she wouldn’t seem to be an unknown quantity on campus.

One also wonders: If Abuserrieh were a well-known member of liberal groups on campus and staunchly pro-choice, would she be denied a chance to speak at an open mic that touted “justice” in its title?
