State Refuses To Let Parents Get Treatment: Baby Alfie’s Dad Giving Him Mouth-To-Mouth In Hospital To ‘Keep Him Alive’

Via Daily Wire:

The horror out of the U.K. concerning sick 23-month-old baby Alfie Evans continues. Earlier on Tuesday, Alfie was effectively sentenced to death yet again by the U.K. court system after a judge denied the the parents’ request to travel to Italy to seek further treatment.

Now, with the child off of life-support since Monday evening and battling for his life, the baby’s parents have been forced to give Alfie mouth-to-mouth while sitting in a hospital.

“Evans’ parents are giving him mouth-to-mouth resuscitation in a desperate bid to keep him alive after a court ruled he cannot be flown to Italy for treatment,” reported The Sun on Tuesday evening. “Tom Evans tonight said he and Alfie’s mum Kate are trying to help Alfie’s breathing after ‘his lips turned blue.’”

Italy has even threatened them with a murder charge to try to save Alfie. But they don’t care.

Sen. Bernie Sanders to Unveil Plan to Give Every American a Guaranteed Government Job

Sen. Bernie Sanders to Unveil Plan to Give Every American a Guaranteed Government Job

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) is set to unveil a plan that would give American workers who want or need jobs guaranteed government jobs that pay at least $15 per hour and have health benefits.

The progressive Vermont senator’s guaranteed jobs plan would entitle any American a job or job training in U.S.-funded projects in infrastructure, the environment, caregiving, and education, but he did not provide a cost-estimate or plan to fund the proposal, the Washington Post reported.

A representative from Sanders’ office said no funding estimate was available for the project because staffers were still crafting the proposal.

Two other potential 2020 presidential candidates—Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) and Sen. Kristen Gillibrand (D-NY)—have expressed interest in crafting similar proposals.

“The goal is to eliminate working poverty and involuntary unemployment altogether,” said Darrick Hamilton, an economist at The New School who expressed support for a guaranteed jobs program. “This is an opportunity for something transformative, beyond the tinkering we’ve been doing for the last 40 years, where all the productivity gains have gone to the elite of society.”

Critics of the plan have said guaranteed jobs proposals would not be sustainable or affordable, and would cause massive job losses in the private sector.

Studies have shown that states and cities which choose to enact a $15 per hour minimum wage trigger job losses. A December 2017 study found that once California’s minimum wage hike takes effect in 2022, the state would lose 400,000 jobs.

“It completely undercuts a lot of industries and companies,” Brian Riedl, a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute who opposes the program, told the Post. “There will be pressure to introduce a higher wage or certain benefits that the private sector doesn’t offer.”

The proposal is unlikely to gain favor with Republicans in control of Congress, and even most Democrats have slammed similar plans as unrealistic.

“It would be extremely expensive, and I wonder if this is the best, most targeted use of the amount of money it would cost,” said Ernie Tedeschi, an economist who worked for the Treasury during the Obama administration.

The Vermont senator’s proposal comes days after he declared President Trump’s agenda “dead” if the Democratic Party wins the majority in the House or Senate.

MRC Senior Fellow LTC Allen B. West (USA, Ret) Responds to Facebook’s Takedown Policies

RESTON, VA – Media Research Center (MRC) Senior Fellow LTC Allen B. West (USA, Ret) issued the following statement Tuesday concerning Facebook’s community guidelines publicly released earlier today. LTC West serves as MRC’s primary spokesperson for its Censorship Project.

According to NewsBusters, the newly published content removal policies may classify “vocalizing not liking a particular protected group” as hate speech and include protections for “immigration status.” The community standards also address how Facebook is combating fake news. While Facebook states it does not remove “false news,” the guidelines say it is “reducing the distribution of content rated as false by independent third-party fact-checkers.” Facebook has offered little transparency regarding which “independent fact-checkers” it partners with, as well as outside individuals and organizations it works with.

Statement by MRC Senior Fellow LTC Allen B. West (USA, Ret):

Facebook has made very little clear today. The takedown policies outlined are vague and could easily be abused to censor those that Facebook simply disagrees with. By their definition, my belief in traditional marriage could be spun as ‘hate speech.’ Their unnamed ‘fact-checkers’ could suppress conservative media, labeling it as ‘false news.’ When the liberal, progressive left felt they did not have a fair playing field on talk radio, they sought to impose a ‘fairness doctrine.’ The left pretends to love the word fairness until it is applied to them.

As extensive as these community standards are, Facebook has neglected to address what it is doing to ensure conservative and liberal political and cultural expression have equal footing on its website. If Facebook is truly a ‘platform for all ideas,’ as CEO Mark Zuckerberg says, it must take steps to guarantee these rules are not used to further silence and suppress conservative voices.

Here Is Why Conservatives Should Worry About Facebook’s Newly Published Guidelines

<p>Conservatives have good reason to be worried about Facebook. Newly published information about the site’s Community Standards, which guide what content is allowed and what is prohibited, shows it has vague restrictions on what it deems to be “hate speech” and “hate organizations.” It also discusses how the site will handle “false news” and raises concerns about the groups that it partners with.</p>
<p>But the hate speech guidelines are the big issue. Facebook has designated “protected characteristics” including: “race, ethnicity, national origin, religious affiliation, sexual orientation, sex, gender, gender identity, and serious disability or disease.” It also includes “some protections for immigration status.”</p>

Former NRA President Doubles Down: Yeti Demanded NRA Cease Using Cooler Company Logo After Parkland

Former NRA President Doubles Down: Yeti Demanded NRA Cease Using Cooler Company Logo After Parkland

NRA President and current Unified Sportsmen of Florida (USF) Executive Director Marion Hammer says Yeti coolers demanded the NRA cease using the cooler company’s logo after the Parkland school shooting.

On April 21, Breitbart News reported Hammer’s announcement that Yeti coolers cut ties with the NRA Foundation. Over the next 24 hours, a #BoycotttYeti movement emerged on Twitter and videos of people shooting, crushing, and otherwise destroying their Yeti coolers began making their way onto Facebook, YouTube, and other social media outlets.

Yeti released a statement on Monday claiming the NRA-ILA’s statement about the cooler company cutting ties with the NRA Foundation was “inaccurate”:

On Tuesday, Hammer emailed Breitbart News a response to the Yeti statement. The statement said:

YETI severed ties with the NRA and is now engaging in damage control after a backlash from many of its customers. In early March, YETI refused to place a previously negotiated order from NRA-ILA, citing “recent events” as the reason – a clear reference to the tragedy in Parkland, Florida. YETI then delivered notice to the NRA Foundation that it was terminating a 7-year agreement and demanded that the NRA remove the YETI name and logo from all NRA digital assets, as well as refrain from using any YETI trademarks in future print material. While YETI is trying to spin the story otherwise, those are the facts. While Yeti can choose to run from the NRA, they can’t run from the facts.

Hammer concluded her statement by noting, “Whether this is due to the recent cancellation of their IPO from their New York City owners is a question only they can answer.”

‘Real Indian’ Challenging Elizabeth Warren for U.S. Senate in MA Sues City for Demanding He Remove ‘Fake Indian’ Signs

‘Real Indian’ Challenging Elizabeth Warren for U.S. Senate in MA Sues City for Demanding He Remove ‘Fake Indian’ Signs

A candidate for U.S. Senate in Massachusetts who describes himself as a “real Indian” is suing the city of Cambridge for demanding he remove his signs that say his challenger, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), is a “fake Indian.”

Shiva Ayyadurai, who is running for the Senate as an independent, filed a federal lawsuit Sunday accusing the city of Cambridge of violating his First Amendment rights under the Constitution for demanding he remove his signs attacking Warren for her unfounded claims of Native American ancestry, the Washington Times reported.

Ayyadurai’s campaign bus, which has been parked for more than a month in front of an office building he owns, displays signs depicting the progressive Massachusetts senator in an Indian headdress next to a picture of himself with his campaign slogan: “Only a REAL INDIAN Can Defeat the Fake Indian.”

But this month, Cambridge building inspector Branden Vigneault sent Ayyadurai’s campaign a notice that said he lacked proper permitting, threatening a $300 per day fine and legal penalties if the campaign does not remove the signs.

Ayyadurai’s campaign argues the building code does not apply to his images because they are posted on a bus and not a brick-and-mortar structure.

“We will not remove the slogan from our bus,” Ayyadurai told the Times. “We will defend the First Amendment, and we will fight this egregious attack on the First Amendment, at any cost.”

Ayyadurai has made it a hallmark of his campaign to challenge Warren’s claims of Native American ancestry, which no documentation has proven.

As proof of her heritage, Warren pointed to a “family newsletter” from 2006, uncovered by an amateur genealogist. It stated that her third great-grandmother was a Cherokee Indian.

Warren’s campaign also claimed that the Massachusetts senator is Native American because her cousin Candy Rowsey edited a cookbook called Pow Wow ChowA Boston talk radio show host found in 2012 that Warren may have plagiarized two recipes that she submitted to the cookbook.

Ayyadurai, meanwhile, is using the lack of documented evidence of Warren’s heritage to his advantage.

He pulled a campaign stunt in July 2017 where he sent Warren a 23&Me DNA ancestry test through Amazon, which she refused. Ayyadurai then posted a receipt on Twitter of his refunded purchase and wrote that he was “deeply saddened” the progressive Massachusetts senator refused his gift.

Fashion Notes: Melania Trump is The Belle of The Ball in Chanel Haute Couture at US-France State Dinner

First Lady Melania Trump is the belle of the ball at the United States-France state dinner, which she planned on her own, in a custom-fitted Chanel Haute Couture gown.

Mrs. Trump greeted French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte Macron, at the White House for the state dinner alongside President Trump, wearing the ultimate homage to Parisian luxury: A Chanel Haute Couture hand-painted gown dripping in sequins, crystals, and Chantilly lace.

The Chanel Haute Couture gown was shown on the Spring Haute Couture week runways in Paris, France originally as a jumpsuit with matching fingerless gloves.

Mrs. Trump’s rendition of the look — fitted and created by the fashion industry’s leading designer, Chanel creative director Karl Lagerfeld — features a calf-length of the beaded portion of the gown while the lace underlay drapes to the floor. The Chanel gown also has rounded pockets on the hips trimmed in crystals.

On Mrs. Trump’s feet are a pair of gunmetal stilettos by Christian Louboutin.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Macron wore a Louis Vuitton gown, a fashion house that she exclusively wears and has become known for carrying the brand’s latest handbags in her hands.

11-Year-Old 6th Grade Boy Hit, Killed by Vehicle During Anti-Gun National School Walkout in El Paso

11-Year-Old 6th Grade Boy Hit, Killed by Vehicle During Anti-Gun National School Walkout in El Paso

An 11-year-old 6th grade boy at Parkland Middle School in El Paso, Texas, was hit and killed by a pick-up truck while crossing a major highway during the National School Walkout on Friday. According to police, the student had initially participated in the walkout but then left the campus with a group of 12 to 15 students who scaled a wall to escape the school and then crossed a major highway and then crossed back. The 6th grader was killed bringing up the rear on the second crossing. No one else was hit.

Loop 375, screen image from road closure after student hit by vehicle on Friday.”

The El Paso Police Department issued a statement Saturday regarding the incident:

Police Investigate Pedestrian Fatality
Date & Time: Friday, April 20, 2018 @ 10:27 a.m.
Location: Loop 375 @ Bomarc Off Ramp
Pedestrian: 11 – year old Johnathan Benko of El Paso (DECEASED)
Vehicle 1: 2010 Ford F150 truck, blue in color
Driver 1: 61 – year old Jesus Diaz of El Paso, TX
El Paso, TX. – The El Paso Police Department’s Special Traffic Investigations (STI) unit were called to assist
Northeast Patrol with a serious collision that involved a vehicle and a pedestrian. The preliminary investigation
revealed that the pedestrian, Johnathan Benko, a student at Parkland Middle School, was taking part in a school
organized “walk out”. During the walk out, Johnathan Benko and several other students left the designated walk
out area. According to witnesses, the group of children crossed Loop 375 West from South to North without
incident, and then several minutes later, attempted to again cross Loop 375 West from North to South. Johnathan
Benko was the last in his group to attempt to cross Loop 375 West when he was struck by a 2010 Ford F150,
which was traveling West and being operated by Jesus Diaz. As a result of the collision, Johnathan Benko
sustained serious bodily injury and was transported to University Medical Center (UMC) where he died. The
driver of the truck, Jesus Diaz was not injured and remained at the scene. There were no other children injured
in this collision.

KVIA-TV reported on the reaction at the school:

…”I just went to the field and saw people running over there and the officers started going over there,” said Parkland Middle School student Daniela Ramirez.

Ramirez and seventh grader Emerson Garcia told ABC-7 what they saw once the students were allowed out for a organized walkout.

“I stood for a good two minutes and then we had a rush of kids just run to this stone wall and just start jumping over. It was like a swarm of kids started jumping the wall,” Garcia said.

District officials had anticipated the walkout and tried to be proactive allowing the kids to walk out and assemble on the football field.

Administration added extra staff to cover the event and security stood by at the front and back of the school but a group of 12 to 15 kids left the campus…”
