The latest ICE raid in Ohio was a big one

If the people protesting Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) or even trying to Doxx them thought they were having any impact on the agency’s agenda, those hopes have probably been dashed. ICE is still keeping busy, this time out in the Buckeye State. A raid in Ohio recently saw agents visiting a meatpacking plant where the management mysteriously seems to have not noticed that they literally had more than 100 illegal aliens working there, most of them from Guatemala. After being briefly detained, a number of them were allowed to go free with a court date while the agency looks further into the activities of the employer. (Fox News)

U.S. immigration agents have arrested more than 100 workers at an Ohio meat packing plant, the second large-scale raid in the state within the past two weeks.

Immigration officials say the arrests on Tuesday came after a year-long investigation into whether the company knowingly hired people who are in the country illegally.

The arrests happened at Fresh Mark’s meat processing plant in Salem in northeastern Ohio. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement says it also carried out search warrants at the company’s three other locations in Canton and Massillon.

This set of raids on Fresh Mark’s plants came relatively close on the heels of a previous raid – also in Ohio – where ICE found 114 illegal aliens working at a lawn and garden business.

More than 100 arrests have been reported after federal immigration agents raided an Ohio lawn and garden business Tuesday as part of the Trump administration’s growing crackdown on employers suspected of hiring illegal immigrants.

The Immigration and Custom Enforcement agents, carrying weapons, showed up at two Corso’s Flower & Garden Centers–one in the Lake Erie resort town of Sandusky and the other in the nearby town of Castalia and arrested 114 suspected illegal immigrants in one of the largest immigration stings in years.

Obviously, the agency has had their eyes on Ohio for a while now and has been collecting information on employers who are suspected of ignoring immigration law. In both cases, agents allege that many of the workers had fake identification, fraudulently impersonating U.S. citizens to obtain work. In those cases, prosecutions are far more likely because of the additional felony charges on top of being in the country illegally.

The common theme in both raids is that so far neither of the employers have been charged with anything, but both are reportedly “under investigation.” Let’s hope so. While we shouldn’t ignore the individual illegal aliens who were apprehended, the real problem here is the fact that employers are still willing to provide jobs to illegals. That’s the magnet that draws them and without that incentive, there would be a lot less work to do at the border.

Having worked briefly in a meatpacking plant one summer while growing up, I can assure you that it’s no fun. But hey.. it was a job. And if you offer sufficient pay and benefits, you will find Americans willing to do that work. Hiring illegal aliens may increase your profit margins in the short term, but that’s not much consolation if the government comes and shuts you down entirely. Then nobody has a job.

These cases are yet another example of why E-Verify should be mandatory across the country. If the employers are on record saying that they’re properly using that system and they turn out to be gaming it, you’ll see business owners marching into courtrooms in orange jumpsuits and handcuffs. At that point, the illegal immigrant hiring problem will almost entirely vanish, along with much of the incentive for people to jump the border.

Swedish Bravalla Music Festival Permanently Cancelled After Wave of Sex Attacks

The organisers of Sweden’s largest music festival have announced that the event will come to a close after cancelling this year’s festival following a wave of sex attacks last year.

Organisers FKP Scorpio announced that there are no plans to put on another Bråvalla festival again this after speculation that the festival may occur in 2019 despite being cancelled this year, Norrköpings Tidningar reports.

Kajsa Apelqvist, who heads public relations for the organisation, said: “It’s a very disappointing decision to take, but the overall picture we have is that we can not develop the festival in the way we want to be relevant to our visitors in the future.”

When asked about the wave of sex attacks at the festival, which resulted in the festival being cancelled this year, Apelqvist said: “We have always claimed that it is not a festival problem but a social problem. How we ensure our visitors’ safety is something we are constantly developing, and that’s something we’ll never finish.”

“I believe we have contributed to people talking, standing up and reporting criminal offences committed. It’s good that people show that they do not take shit. That’s what we are proud of,” Apelqvist added.

Last year, the festival saw at least 11 sex attacks, three of which led to arrests; the year before, nearly 40 young girls complained of being sexually harassed or abused by men often described as “foreign”.

One victim, 17-year-old Alexandra Larsson, described her attackers saying: “They were probably immigrants. I hate to say it. But it is the truth.”

As a result of the sex attacks at Bråvalla and other music festivals in Sweden, feminist Emma Knyckare announced last year that she would plan a festival in which men were not allowed to attend to prevent sexual abuse and harassment. So far no such festival has taken place.

Billboard Client Caves to Pressure, Removes Ad Telling Liberals to Leave Texas

A billboard asking liberals to keep driving until they leave Texas was taken down Wednesday after the client who paid for it requested its removal due to the uproar it caused on social and traditional media, according to the billboard’s owner.

Randy Burkett, owner of the billboard and advertising company Burkett Outdoor Advertising, told Breitbart News on Wednesday that his client requested he remove the advertisement “once the sign appeared to be causing quite the controversy.”

The billboard had been installed around 10 a.m. Tuesday morning and had gained a lot of attention on social media since then, Patch.com reported.

“Liberals,” the sign read, according to the photo posted by Facebook user Kyle Mccallie, 25, of Fritch. “Please continue on I-40 until you have left our GREAT STATE OF TEXAS.”

The photo of the billboard went viral, gaining so much attention, the post had been shared on Facebook more than 20,000 times as of Thursday morning. Many reacted to the billboard’s message along partisan lines, and the interest in the sign caused the Burkett Outdoor Advertising website to crash Wednesday morning.

Roman Leal, an Amarillo resident who disagreed with the billboard’s tongue-in-cheek message, set up a GoFundMe page Wednesday to raise money for a competing billboard with the message “Texas is for everyone—not for bigotry.” As of Thursday morning, Leal’s page raised $2,495.

“I believe in the First Amendment and one’s right to free speech,” Burkett said, adding that, due to company policy, he could not disclose the identity of the individual who purchased the billboard. But Burkett said his client told him that although the message had only been up for a short time, it “served its purpose.”

“Your billboards work and this one has served its purpose,” the client reportedly told Burkett before asking for its removal.

Burkett said he dispatched a crew on Wednesday to remove the billboard and planned to replace it with an advertisement from another client. He also said he agreed to reimburse the former client for his trouble.

Dan Quandt, who represents the Amarillo Convention and Visitors Council, told MyHighPlains.com his organization would be the new client occupying the now-vacant billboard space. Quandt said the organization plans to put up a welcome sign.

MSNBC’s Soboroff Blames U.S. for Causing MS-13 Problem in Central America

As the media have been fixated all week on the Trump administration strictly enforcing immigration laws and, as required by law, separating illegal immigrant parents from children during prosecutions, MSNBC’s Jacob Soboroff delivered a gem that deserves a place in the annals of “Blame America First” as he actually blamed the U.S. for Central America’s crime problems with MS-13 and other gangs.

As MSNBC host Stephanie Ruhle asked Soboroff why the crime problem exists in Central America that leads many to flee to the U.S., the MSNBC correspondent recalled that MS-13 and other gangs were founded by “undocumented immigrants” who were living in Los Angeles:

Actually, the violence that many of them are fleeing in Central America is violence that’s perpetrated by gangs that actually started in places like my hometown, Los Angeles. When you hear about MS-13 from President Trump or the 18th Street Gang — Barrio Dieciocho.

In fact, I stood here maybe a couple of months ago, and I met families that came here to seek asylum, and one of them said that they had been terrorized by Barrio Dieciocho. Those are Los Angeles gangs where the original members were undocumented immigrants and deported to Central America.

Even though the illegal immigrants who founded the gangs in Los Angeles were originally from Central America, Soboroff described the gangs as having been “exported” from the U.S. to Central America as he recounted:

Those gangs exploded in those Central American countries and terrorized communities down there. It’s literally something that was exported from the streets of Los Angeles down to Central America, and the violence that’s happening down there now is in large part due to gangs that first roamed the streets — not of Central America — but of the city of Los Angeles. So it is incorrect to hear the President say — or at least the Attorney General — that those are — the violence down there is something that comes from that culture.

The MSNBC correspondent concluded: “It’s a culture that started north of the border and very specifically in Southern California. And when you’re here, and when you hear people present themselves to the border patrol, they say the names of the gangs that started on the streets of Los Angeles.”

Ruhle then gushed over Soboroff for his “truth-telling” as she wrapped up the segment: “Jacob, it’s stunning. Thank you so much for your unbelievable reporting, your truth-telling. We need it now more than ever.”

Democratic Socialists of America: We’re Coming After More Trump Officials

One night after Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen conducted a press conference defending the forcible separation of immigrant children from their families, a member of Washington, D.C.’s Democratic Socialists of America chapter received a text from a friend.

“A member got a text saying ‘Kirstjen Nielsen is eating nachos like ten feet from me,’” Allison Hrabar, a spokesperson for the Metro DC DSA told The Daily Beast.

Less than 30 minutes later, about a dozen members of DSA were inside MXDC Cocina Mexicana, shouting at Nielsen while she tried to eat her Mexican dinner. […]

After video went viral Tuesday night, commenters blasted the demonstrators for disrupting dinner. But unfinished nachos are a small price to pay, DSA members said.

“Oppressed people have never been given their rights by asking politely,” Hrabar said. “Kirstjen Nielsen is not going to be convinced by us politely saying ‘could you maybe not separate children from their families? Could you maybe stop detaining and deporting migrants who have done nothing wrong?’”

“As someone who’s Jewish, I’ve been raised with this notion that this could happen again.” Rabinowitz said. “Never again means never again for anybody.”[…]

Since Sunday, Portland, Oregon activists including members of the Portland DSA, the Direct Action Alliance, and the National Lawyers Guild have been set up camp outside a local ICE prison. The coalition blockaded the roads leading to the facility, preventing anyone from driving in or out. On Tuesday, after a standoff with protesters, every ICE employee except for one security guard left the building, Raw Story reported. The guard, told demonstrators that the facility was closing and that “it’s unknown when it will open.”

Hrabar said the DC DSA has been staging demonstrations outside the homes of prominent ICE and Trump administration officials for the past three months.

“Two weeks from now, we’ll be visiting another high-up Trump administration official at his home and telling him we’re not going to stand for this kind of policy or any detention and deportation of immigrants,” she said.

Screaming Leftist Who Forced DHS Secretary Nielsen Out of DC Restaurant Works For the DOJ

Screaming Leftist Who Forced DHS Secretary Nielsen Out of DC Restaurant Works For the DOJ

As previously reported by TGP’s Kristinn Taylor, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen was forced to leave a downtown Washington, D.C. Mexican restaurant Tuesday evening after a gang of screaming leftists with the Democratic Socialists of America took over the restaurant and harassed Nielsen for ten minutes over the current border crisis.

One of the screaming leftists, Allison Hrabar, is a paralegal in the Justice Department.

Allison Hrabar, DOJ paralegal

The Daily Caller reported:

Members of the Washington, D.C., chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America crashed Nielsen’s meal with a demonstration full of chants and other outbursts.

One of those participants, Allison Hrabar, actually works for the Trump administration — as a paralegal in the DOJ.

“Kirstjen Nielsen, you’re a villain, locking up immigrant children,” activists can be heard saying in a video.

An employee within the Trump administration initially tipped TheDCNF off about Hrabar’s presence at the protest.

The Washington Examiner spoke with Hrabar Wednesday and she defended her behavior as off government time and a use of her First Amendment rights.

“If you see these people in public, you should remind them that they shouldn’t have peace,” she told The Examiner. “We aren’t the only ones who can do this. Anyone who sees Kirstjen Nielsen at dinner, anyone who sees anyone who works at DHS and ICE at dinner can confront them like this, and that’s what we hope this will inspire people to do.”

Allison Hrabar routinely tweeted politically charged tweets, however; she has since deleted her Twitter account.

On Tuesday evening, protesters falsely yelled that 10,000 children had been taken from their parents. It is actually 10,000 children whose parents incredibly have sent them alone on the perilous journey through Mexico to sneak into the U.S. Only 2,000 children have been separated at the border from parents after they illegally entered the U.S. Both figures were reported by DHS.

So-called Republicans Susan Collins, Richard Burr kill Trump rescission package, stick taxpayers with $16 billion tab

So-called Republicans Collins, Burr kill Trump rescission package, stick taxpayers with $16 billion
We thought this might happen.

It’s very hard to pass a responsible spending bill in the U.S. Senate because Democrats can filibuster, and because there are only 51 Republicans. But if you can hold the Republican caucus together, you can rescind some of the spending that’s already passed under the Budget Impoundment Act of 1974, and you only need a simple majority to do it.

Restaurant Manager Where Secretary Nielsen Was Mobbed “Happy About What Happened”

Via Daily Caller:

The Mexican restaurant where Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen was swarmed by protesters Tuesday in Washington, D.C., took no action to quell the protesters or ensure Nielsen’s safety, a manager told The Daily Caller News Foundation on Wednesday.

“We are not upset the protesters came here and we are not upset even if it was any of our staffers [who tipped off] the protesters,” the MXDC Cocina Mexicana manager, who refused to give his name, told TheDCNF. “We are happy about what happened.”

Police responded to the incident, USA Today reported. The manager also said that, to his knowledge, no one who worked at the restaurant contacted authorities when the protesters arrived, and that it may have been one of her security detail or another restaurant patron. “We don’t know who exactly contacted the police … we don’t know,” he said.

Supreme Court: Online Shoppers Can Be Forced To Pay Sales Tax

On Thursday, in a 5-4 ruling in South Dakota vs, Wayfair, Inc., the Supreme Court stated that states could force online shoppers to pay sales tax.

States had argued that they were losing massive amounts of money because they could not collect the taxes.

In a ringing endorsement of returning power to the states, the Court wrote, “Stare decisis can no longer support the Court’s prohibition of a valid exercise of the States’ sovereign power. If it becomes apparent that the Court’s Commerce Clause decisions prohibit the States from exercising their lawful sovereign powers, the Court should be vigilant in correcting the error.” “Stare decisis” means that the Court cannot ignore a determined standard and must uphold prior decisions when ruling on future cases.

The Court explained, “Under National Bellas Hess, Inc. v. Department of Revenue of Ill., 386 U. S. 753, and Quill Corp. v. North Dakota, 504 U. S. 298, South Dakota may not require a business that has no physical presence in the State to collect its sales tax. Consumer compliance rates are notoriously low, however, and it is estimated that Bellas Hess and Quill cause South Dakota to lose between $48 and $58 million annually.”

The Court stated, “Because the physical presence rule of Quill is unsound and incorrect,” Quill and Bellas were overruled. The Court added, “The physical presence rule has long been criticized as giving out-of-state sellers an advantage. Each year, it becomes further removed from economic reality and results in significant revenue losses to the States. These critiques underscore that the rule, both as first formulated and as applied today, is an incorrect interpretation of the Commerce Clause.”

Vis-à-vis Quill, the Court stated that itcreates rather than resolves market distortions. In effect, it is a judicially created tax shelter for businesses that limit their physical presence in a State but sell their goods and services to the State’s consumers.” It added that Quill “imposes the sort of arbitrary, formalistic distinction that the Court’s modern Commerce Clause precedents disavow in favor of ‘a sensitive, case-by-case analysis of purposes and effects,’ West Lynn Creamery, Inc. v. Healy, 512 U. S. 186, 201.”

The formation of the two sides of the Court’s decision seemed a trifle odd, with Justice Ginsburg joining Justices Thomas, Alito, Gorsuch and Kennedy for the majority and Justice Roberts joining Justices Breyer, Kagan and Sotomayor for the minority.
