Limbaugh: Border Separation Issue a ‘Manufactured Crisis’ — Effort to ‘Change the Subject’ from IG Report, Economy

Monday on his nationally syndicated radio show, conservative talker Rush Limbaugh attributed the spike in media coverage of family separation at the U.S.-Mexico border to a desire to “change the subject” away from the Department of Justice Inspector General’s report finding wrongdoing within the agency and the positives of the American economy.

Limbaugh described it as “made to order” and a “manufactured crisis” to give Democrats positive momentum headed into an election season.

This children and families being separated at the border? It is an entirely manufactured crisis. It’s entirely manufactured. This has been going on for years. It happened during the Obama administration. Nobody said a word about it, primarily the media. Some might say, “Well, that doesn’t excuse it continually happening.” You gotta keep it all in perspective, and wait ’til you understand why. This is all about asylum seekers, folks. It’s all about people attempting to invade our country, not emigrate here.

And I’m gonna do my best. You know, this is a very complex issue. Well, it isn’t. It’s been made to look complex, and after they try to make it complex, then they try to simplify it by simply suggesting the United States — no, Republicans — hate kids and Republicans like separating families. And that’s what they’re trying to boil all this down to. So I’m gonna spend some time today explaining what this is all about with the aid and assistance of a few others.

And by the time we finish, you will understand how yet again this is just another manufactured crisis. Look, they’ve gotta change the subject. They have to change the subject. The economy is rip roaring. They’ve got to change the subject from the IG report. For crying out loud, that’s a devastating report about the culture of the FBI. They have got to change the subject. They’ve got to move off of the problems the Democrats are having electorally, culturally, and politically.

And so made to order, this manufactured crisis, somehow that Donald Trump is heartless, that Republicans are heartless, that they want to bust up families. Let me tell you who’s been busting up families. The Democrats. The Democrats have been literally subsidizing single motherhood in the black community for decades. It used to be called AFDC. You could also say that Planned Parenthood is excelling at separating families, couldn’t you? You want to talk about separating families, look no further than the abortion mills of Planned Parenthood.

I fully expect these comments to be controversial because they are bull’s-eye right on target. The Democrat Party has prospered from separating families. The Democrat Party has prospered for decades by assuming the role of father and provider in minority communities all over this country by subsidizing single motherhood. It is the Democrat Party who is seeking to have children brought here on trains from Central America without their parents, to create just the kind of scenario we are finding ourselves in the middle of today.

Now, to set all of this up, let’s remember some things. As was noted over the weekend… By the way, greetings. Rush Limbaugh, 800-282-2882. (You know all of that, so I sought not to waste that much time with the usual show open. Lots to do here.) It was — as noted over the weekend — three years ago that Donald Trump announced for the presidency. It was three years ago that he came down the escalator at Trump Tower, and we all remember his announcement speech, and most people’s reaction when that was over was laughter and ridicule and disbelief.

“There is no way this guy is serious! You don’t run for president or any office saying the things that Trump said.” I was one of the many people laughing myself silly at it (chuckles), ’cause I thought it was courageous and brave and way over the to — and I, too, was trying to figure out the motivation. But then I’ll tell you when my mind changed, ladies and gentlemen. That’s when I saw the first poll results. I was pleasantly shocked and surprised that there was overwhelming approval for Donald Trump as a presidential candidate on the Republican side.

That’s when the panic in the Republican establishment began. On the Democrat side, they never took it seriously. (laughing) All the way up to 8 o’clock on election night, they didn’t take it seriously. Except they did, because they were running spies in the Trump campaign as early as 2016! They were running Russian spies, trying to convince Trump campaign officials to pay them to take the information they were offering. The Democrat Party, the media, the FBI, the intelligence community, spent years trying to corrupt the Trump campaign — and with everything they tried, they failed.

There’s no evidence there was any collusion, despite the fact the FBI was trying to create some. Now, all of this is relevant to where we are today. But there is much, much more. What has happened in the three years since Donald Trump came down the escalator at Trump Tower? There is a renewed optimism in much of this country. In the vast majority of the square footage of this country, there is vast enthusiasm, a renewed optimism, a renewed pride, a renewed happiness in the future. The economy is roaring.

We are seeing statistics we haven’t seen in years — in fact, in some cases ever. Black, Hispanic, female unemployed rates are at a record, all-time low. The overall unemployment rate is statistically zero. It’s 3.9, 3.8%. This has long been regarded as statistically representative of full employment. The stock market has rallied and is out of sight and is still on its upward trajectory. There is a new satisfaction poll out from Gallup, and it is overwhelmingly upbeat and positive.

“Public satisfaction with the direction of the country is the highest it has been since September of 2005,” but you would never know that if you did nothing but watch Drive-By news all day. You would never have any idea that public satisfaction is at the highest it’s been since September 2005. My friends, that is 13 years ago! Now, 2005 seems like yesterday, but it was the beginning of the second term of the Bush administration, and let’s take a look what happened in 2005. Why is today, the public satisfaction with the direction of the country the highest it’s been since September 2005?

Kirstjen Nielsen on child separation: Our message is simple — if you enter the U.S. illegally you’ll be prosecuted

I think she’s finally been fully Trumpified. Took a lot of effort, though!

Inside the Trump administration, current and former officials say, there is considerable unease about the policy, which is regarded by some charged with carrying it out as unfeasible in practice and questionable morally. Kirstjen Nielsen, the current homeland security secretary, has clashed privately with Mr. Trump over the practice, sometimes inviting furious lectures from the president that have pushed her to the brink of resignation

Technically, there is no Trump administration policy stating that illegal border crossers must be separated from their children. But the “zero tolerance policy” results in unlawful immigrants being taken into federal criminal custody, at which point their children are considered unaccompanied alien minors and taken away.

Whether she really did consider resigning or not, more than one paper reported last month that Trump lambasted her during a cabinet meeting at greeeeeat length over the fact that illegal border-crossings hadn’t fallen.

Trump lashed out at his Cabinet, and Nielsen in particular, when told that the number of people arrested for illegally crossing the Mexico border topped 50,000 for the second consecutive month. The blowup lasted more than 30 minutes, according to a person with knowledge of what transpired, as Trump’s face reddened and he raised his voice, saying Nielsen needed to “close down” the border…

Trump’s tirade went on so long that many present began fidgeting in their seats and flashing grimaces, White House aides said. Eventually, the topic moved on to health care, bringing relief to many in the room.

That’s from WaPo, which reported in the same piece that Trump is known to tell aides that Nielsen’s “not tough enough” and that she’s a “Bush person.” If you want to know where the separation policy came from and why Nielsen is suddenly the face of it, that’s why. Her boss made a spectacle of her in front of her colleagues, all but accusing her of dereliction of duty. Her choice implicitly was either to quit or to clench her jaw and oversee a policy that would prove to him how far she’s willing to go in the name of zero tolerance. She made her choice. Watch five minutes of the clip below from earlier today. She goes right at the administration’s critics: “We will not apologize for the job we do, or the job law enforcement does, or the job the American people expect us to do.”

She will end up apologizing, though, I expect. Not while she’s DHS chief but afterward. In fact, I’d give her a 20 percent chance of following Comey’s general career arc of leaving the government unceremoniously, becoming a harsh administration critic, then cashing in on some Democratic-pleasing tell-all. She is, after all, a “Bush person” and per the Times excerpt above she’s only a grudging supporter of the separation policy. Many prominent Republicans, even some presidential flatterers like Anthony Scaramucci and Franklin Graham, are bashing the White House over it and there are destined to be horror stories involving kids in federal detention as time wears on. (Politico already has a story out today about a federal magistrate telling a detained illegal parent who asked about the fate of her child, “Hopefully, they’ll get you to her.” Hopefully?) There’s a nonzero chance that Nielsen will spend the next few weeks doggedly defending the policy in the media, only to have Trump leave her holding the bag by suddenly changing his mind and canceling it under pressure from his buddies. How long would it take Trump to dump child separation if, say, Kim and Kanye made a direct personal appeal? Ten minutes?

Nielsen’s in fine form here, though, hitting all the major points on the policy’s behalf. This pitch is intended for an Audience of One, as are so many public appearances by Trump officials, but all populists will enjoy it.

The Media Are Lying About Trump Separating Illegal Immigrant Families. Here’s The Truth.

One caveat that I would make different from the article. The situation is far better now than it was under Obama, that’s why this is so ridiculous and ironic.

Via Daily Wire:

Over the weekend, the media went insane over the supposed Trump administration policy of separating illegal immigrant parents from their children. According to the media, Trump could with one quick fix simply prevent the separation of children from their parents; according to the media, all Trump has to do is wave his magic wand, and all will be well.

This is a lie.

More specifically, it’s several lies.

1. Trump Created Separation Of Children From Illegal Immigrant Parents. This is plainly false. In 1997, the federal government made an agreement in a case called Flores not to keep unaccompanied illegal immigrant children in custody beyond 20 days. The settlement said nothing about accompanied illegal immigrant children – children who crossed the border with their parents. The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals then ruled that accompanied children also could not be held in custody under the terms of the settlement. This meant that the government either had to release whole families, or that the government had to separate parents from children.

Grassley Demands Probe Into Comey’s Use of Secret Gmail Account For FBI Business

Grassley Demands Probe Into Comey’s Use of Secret Gmail Account For FBI Business

Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA) sent a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray on Monday demanding access to James Comey’s private Gmail account he used for official FBI business.

The FBI has until June 29th to response to Grassley’s letter.

Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA)

According to the IG report released last Thursday, then-FBI Director James Comey used a secret Gmail account when conducting FBI business, despite warning other agents they would be in “huge trouble” if they did the same thing.

Comey’s frequent use of a personal email account for unclassified FBI business was “inconsistent with” the policy statement for email use by the Justice Department, according to a report issued by the Office of the Inspector General.

The findings were published on page 425 of the report.

The IG report identified FIVE different instances where Comey used a Gmail account to conduct official FBI business, CNBC reported.

Senator Grassley said Comey’s use of a private email account raises some “serious questions,” being that the bureau was investigating Hillary Clinton for the same misconduct:

It is disturbing that FBI employees tasked with investigating Secretary Clinton, including
the former Director, appear to have engaged in strikingly similar conduct. Although it does not
appear as egregious and prolonged, they also used non-government systems for official work.

Grassley wants all of Comey’s private emails to make sure classified information was not transmitted:

In the FBI’s response to the Inspector General’s report, it claims, “there is no finding or indication
that any classified material ever transited former Director Comey’s, Ms. Page’s, or Mr. Strzok’s
personal devices or accounts.”9
However, unless the FBI has obtained and examined those
records, then it simply cannot know one way or the other.

Inspector General Horowitz also confirmed Monday during a Congressional hearing Comey is under investigation for his mishandling of classified memos.

PHOTOS: Obama Used Same So-Called ‘Cages’ to Detain Child Border Crossers

The so-called “cages” being used by federal immigration officials to detain child border crossers in detention facilities are the same barriers that were used by former President Obama’s administration.

A series of rare photos taken from inside detention facilities where mostly Central American minors were held in detention under the Obama administration in 2014 reveals that detention of border crossers has largely remained the same under Trump as it was under the previous administration.

For weeks, the establishment media has referred to the detention facilities where federal immigration officials are holding child border crossers as “cages” and one Senate Democrat even called the facilities “dog kennels.”

CBS News, Time Magazine, Business Insider, NBC News, and their counterparts in the Democratic Party have continuously claimed migrant children are being held in cages, specifically pointing to photos from a detention facility in McAllen, Texas. These same barriers, though, were used in that McAllen detention facility under President Obama when the establishment media was silent on the issue.

These images from 2014 reveal how the Obama administration used the same so-called “cages” to detain child border crossers:

In 2014, Breitbart Texas broke the story of how child border crossers were being crammed into detention centers and facilities by the Obama administration, revealing a number of exclusive photos that went unmentioned by the establishment media.

Those photos included:

The policy to prosecute all illegal border crossers, including illegal alien adults who cross the border with children, results in border-crossing parents having their children taken into federal custody. This is a loophole known as the Flores Settlement Agreement.

Detaining child border crossers was a policy during the Obama administration, where Breitbart Texas exclusively reported on the conditions in which unaccompanied minors were being packed into crowded cells and holding facilities.

President Trump has asked the Republican-controlled Congress and Democrat lawmakers to close the loophole so that minors can be swiftly deported from the U.S. with their border-crossing parents. But lawmakers have failed to end the settlement agreement.

Most recently, Breitbart News exclusively revealed the comfortable living conditions that unaccompanied minor border crossers are placed into by the Department of Health and Human Services.

These unaccompanied minor border crossers have a higher standard of living when in federal custody than the more than 13 million American children who are living in poverty in the U.S., Breitbart News noted.

HUGE! Top Clinton Campaign Operative and AG Lynch Reportedly Exchanged “Highly Classified Material” During Election …Updated

HUGE! Top Clinton Campaign Operative and AG Lynch Reportedly Exchanged “Highly Classified Material” During Election …Updated

Inspector General Michael Horowitz and FBI Chief Chris Wray testified before the Senate Intelligence Committee on Monday afternoon.

During the testimony IG Horowitz admitted that top level Clinton 2016 campaign operative Amanda Renteria and Attorney General Loretta Lynch exchanged “highly classified material” with each other in 2016.

The “highly classified” material was so secret that Inspector General Michael Horowitz refused to talk about it during the Senate hearing on Monday.

Senator Kennedy: Your index does it contain or discuss an email that refers to a conversation allegedly between Attorney General Lynch and a person by the name of Amanda Renteria?

Inspector General Horowitz: I’m not sure what I can say about that publicly so would ask you if I can get back to you.

Via Joe Palmer:

Amanda Renteria worked for United States Senators Dianne Feinstein and Debbie Stabenow. She was hired as the Hillary campaign’s “Hispanic woman position” on the campaign.

UPDATE— Amanda Renteria has denied these allegations for the past year.

WATCH: Sarah Sanders Torches Laura Bush For Attacking Trump Admin On Child Separation Issue

White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders fired back at former First Lady Laura Bush on Monday over her recent criticisms of the current administration’s “zero tolerance” policy.

Sanders pointed out how the current separation of children from their families at the border is the result of actions taken by prior administrations, specifically Bush’s husband, George W. Bush.

“Frankly this law was actually signed into effect in 2008 under her husband’s leadership. Not under this administration,” Sanders shot back in response to Bush’s recent op-ed.

“We’re not the ones responsible for creating this problem. We’ve inherited it,” Sanders continued. “But we’re actually the first administration stepping up and trying to fix it.”

Remember When Holier-Than-Thou CNN Turned Deporting Illegals into a Game? We Do…

As a presidential candidate, Donald Trump ran for office on a promise to secure the nation’s porous southern border, preferably with a border wall, but at the very least with strict enforcement of existing immigration laws. Liberals and the liberal media protested in earnest, even as they often overlooked the largely tepid enforcement of immigration laws under the Obama administration.

Along the lines of Trump’s campaign promise, Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced in April that he would implement a “zero tolerance” policy for the criminal act of illegally crossing the border — first time offense is a misdemeanor, illegal re-entry into the country is a felony — and any adults who illegally crossed the border would be detained and prosecuted.

Amid great protest from the liberals and their ideologically aligned media allies, Sessions admitted in May that his “zero tolerance” policy on the border would inevitably result in illegal immigrant families being temporarily split up while the parents were detained and prosecuted, with the children to be held under the supervision of the Department of Health and Human Services for the duration of their parent’s prosecution or adjudication of an asylum claim, according to CBS News.

“We don’t want to separate families, but we don’t want families to come to the border illegally and attempt to enter into this country improperly,” Sessions stated. “The parents are subject to prosecution while children may not be. So, if we do our duty and prosecute those cases, then children inevitably for a period of time might be in different conditions.”

This incensed liberals and liberal media outlets like CNN even further, which have now taken to smearing anyone — sometimes with sickeningly ludicrous comparisons to Nazis — who supports enforcement of immigration laws at the border as being in favor of splitting up innocent families.

TRENDING: Billionaire Clinton, Obama Crony Caught in Massive Fraud Scandal

But this over-the-top outrage with regard to the enforcement of immigration laws under the Trump administration was decidedly lacking a few years ago and the occasional enforcement of immigration laws under the Obama administration, which similarly included separating children from their parents while a case was processed.

Indeed, though Obama received some criticism from the left for deporting illegal immigrants, it was such a non-issue for the liberal media that CNN even made it out to be something of a game.

For example, check out this tweet from CNN on June 29, 2014, in which the network made a game out of the potential deportation of a prominent illegal immigrant and activist named Jose-Antonio Vargas by asking Twitter followers to answer either “JOSESTAY” or “JOSEGO,” as if the public’s reaction should have any effect on enforcement of the law.

Needless to say, the outspoken liberal immigration rights activist was not deported by the Obama administration.

Now, contrast the relatively lighthearted manner with which CNN treated the potential enforcement of immigration laws against Vargas in 2014 with the dire, end-of-the-world, I-can’t-believe-the-Nazi-Republicans-are-so-cruel manner in which the network addresses the enforcement of immigration laws in 2018.

To say there is a bit of a difference would be a colossal understatement, yet CNN and other outlets continue to set their hair on fire on a daily basis with regard to the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement tactics that are similar to those utilized by the Obama administration, though to a far lesser degree in terms of frequency during the Obama years.

Does this prove liberals in the media are hypocrites?

Furthermore, if liberals really want to be outraged at whoever is truly responsible for the policy that allows illegal immigrant children to be separated from their illegal immigrant parents, they need to shift their gaze to the judges who sat upon the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in 1997.

According to Rich Lowry of National Review, that is who devised what became known as the Flores Consent Decree, which stipulated that illegal immigrant children could only be held for 20 days before they had to be released to the custody of a sponsor (typically a relative already living in the U.S.).

RELATED: Avenatti Returns Without Stormy, Uses Separated Illegals to Get More Camera Time

Considering it often takes far longer than a mere 20 days for an adult illegal immigrant to be prosecuted for illegal entry, and even longer for an asylum claim to be adjudicated, it is this court decision that has resulted in the policy of children being split from their parents after illegally crossing the border or seeking asylum outside of an established port of entry.

Of course, facts tend to get in the way of the left’s narrative that Trump is some sort of heartless, fascist dictator who is personally ripping children out of the arms of their mothers, so activists and liberal journalists will ignore the truth of the matter and continue with their fraudulently insane depiction of Trump as a child-hating monster.

SHOCKING: 10,000 of 12,000 Kids in US DHS Custody Were Sent Here Alone …Think of That! (VIDEO)

This won’t make any headlines in the fake mainstream media.

Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen joined Press Secretary Sarah Sanders at the White House briefing on Monday to discuss the administration’s position on border security and migrant family separation.

During the media hysterics and abuse Secretary Nielsen dropped this bomb.
It fell flat with the media who were only wanting to use the venue to attack Trump.

Kirstjen Nielsen: So I want to be clear on a couple things. The vast majority, vast, vast, majority of the children who are in the care of HHS right now, 10,000 of the 12,000, were sent here alone by their parents. That’s when they were separated. Somehow we’ve conflated everything.
