Smug NY Reporter Forced to Edit Out Racist Statement Printed About Kimberly Guilfoyle

A columnist with the New York Daily News was forced to edit her piece after she used a racial slur against Fox News host Kimberly Guilfoyle, The Daily Caller reports.

In Linda Stasi’s Tuesday column, which demanded that “The Five” co-host should be fired from the network for an alleged relationship with Donald Trump Jr., our writer friend decided it was a perfectly salutary to make a wise-crack about Guilfoyle — who is half-Puerto Rican — picking fruit.

“Thing is, Guilfoyle is an otherwise brilliant woman. When it comes to picking men, though, she’d be better off picking grapes,” Stasi’s column originally read.

That earned this tweet from Donald Trump Jr.

Stasi denied that it was a racial slur but decided to edit it out nonetheless.

“Absolutely no idea that Kimberly Guilfoyle is half Puerto Rican…and my column was in no way meant as a slur,” she tweeted.

“Nonetheless I will change that reference online. I’m just surprised anyone would have assumed such a stereotype b/c someone is half-Latina. So sorry for misunderstanding.”

Do you think Linda Stasi was being consciously racist?

The line now reads, “When it comes to picking men, though, she’d probably have better odds picking lotto numbers.”

“Donald Trump Jr. tweeted that one line in the column was somehow a  reference to Ms. Guilfoyle being Puerto Rican (I since checked it out and she is indeed Puerto Rican on her  father’s side),” Stasi wrote in an email to The Daily Caller.

“Not that I had any idea of her ethnicity nor if I did would I associate grape picking with her or it with Puerto Rico. My Italian family- who picks their own grapes in Calabria- sure. The ravaged island of Puerto Rico – no. I think Mr. Trump mistakenly assumed I wrote it to  stereotype her somehow. Truthfully I was kind of flummoxed by the association. But why leave a phrase in if it could be in any way misconstrued like that?”

There are a few other details to this whole story beyond the apology. The first, it may not surprise you to know, is that the Daily News is a liberal paper; it’s basically The New York Times for Gotham residents who are slightly lower on the literacy totem pole.

If someone from the Trump administration had used that phrase with any Latino/Latina, one of Stasi’s cohort would be furiously typing away at the brittle keyboard of their MacBook, demanding their removal and once again proclaiming the inveterate white supremacy that has engulfed the White House.

RELATED: Media Erupts in Cries of ‘Anti-Semitism’ After Trump Uses Innocuous Word

Then there’s the choice of phraseology. I don’t necessarily want to cast a shadow on Stasi’s story and I find it odd that someone would consciously leave something that could be interpreted as a racial slur in their column, but what are the other alternatives here? Telling someone to “pick grapes” as a generic insult sounds vaguely like the superannuated “go suck an egg” deprecation. Except it hardly makes any sense unless you — whether consciously or subconsciously — had some sort of motive behind it.

Go pick grapes? Okay, I get to be out in the dry sunshine and pick bunches of fruit. While the manual labor might be intensive, what, pray tell, is statistically difficult about this? I’m having a hard time coming up with an alternative to racism here.

One could also entertain the possibility that the column isn’t particularly well-written, which I’d give you. The Daily Caller notes one mistake, which is that it refers to Guilfoyle as a “reporter.” (She’s a pundit; that’s hardly a distinction without a difference if you’re calling for someone’s firing because their personal life might make them less objective when they don’t feign objectivity in the first place.)

I found another one, which is Stasi’s contention that Donald Trump Jr. is “a guy so dumb he retweeted the insane conspiracy theory that Hillary Clinton was running a child sex ring behind a pizza place.” For the record, while he’s retweeted and supported individuals who believed the Pizzagate theory had merit, I haven’t seen actual tweets invoking the theory.

There’s no evidence that he knew these individuals believed in or promoted the ridiculous Pizzagate theory, any more than there’s evidence Stasi knew Guilfoyle was a Latina. Our columnist, apparently, isn’t willing to give Trump Jr. the same benefit of the doubt she more or less expects from us.

Oh, and while we’re at it, way to throw in “(t)he ravaged island” part about Puerto Rico in your apology, too, Ms. Stasi. Because as Harvey Weinstein showed, no apology is complete without a deflection to a previously approved liberal cause.

NRSC refuses to endorse or support Corey Stewart’s senate bid

National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) Chairman Cory Gardner announced that the official campaign arm of Republicans in the senate would not endorse Virginia’s controversial senate nominee Corey Stewart, nor would they give the candidate any funds.

The Hill:

Gardner’s decision is a break with President Trump, who tweeted his congratulations to Stewart on Wednesday morning.

“Congratulations to Corey Stewart for his great victory for Senator from Virginia. Now he runs against a total stiff, Tim Kaine, who is weak on crime and borders, and wants to raise your taxes through the roof. Don’t underestimate Corey, a major chance of winning!” Trump wrote on Twitter.

It’s not the first time Gardner has decided to not endorse a candidate who has received Trump’s backing. The committee, under Gardner’s leadership, refused to back controversial Alabama GOP Senate nominee Roy Moore last year.

Even when Trump endorsed Moore a month after the first allegations of sexual misconduct by women who were underage at the time surfaced against the candidate, Gardner refused to follow Trump’s endorsement. That put the NRSC at odds with both the White House and the Republican National Committee, which also backed Moore.

Following his win Tuesday, Stewart is now set to face off against Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.) in November.

Stewart, who was endorsed by white supremacist Jason Kessler (support he disavowed) and Paul Nehlen, who gained fame as a challenger to Speaker Paul Ryan and is known for posting racist, and anti-Semitic tweets, made a name for himself defending Confederate monuments from being torn down. He fancies himself a Trump mini-me – insulting his opponents and making wild, unsubstantiated claims.

Senate Republicans are at a loss about how to deal with his candidacy.

Politico:

“At the senatorial committee we’re focusing on Missouri, Indiana, North Dakota, Montana, West Virginia and Florida. There are great races around the country. [Virginia] is not the map,” said National Republican Senatorial Committee Chairman Cory Gardner (R-Colo.). “We have a big map this year, and what I’ve laid out in races that I’ve talked about, Virginia’s not on it.”

“Sometimes in the primary process, the thing we try and get done is get the most electable candidate on the ballot in the fall. And that doesn’t always happen,” conceded Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.), the No. 3 GOP leader.

And Thune, like other Republicans expressed ignorance of Stewart despite his affinity for earning press with stunts like protesting outside the RNC in 2016, which got him ousted from Trump’s official campaign apparatus. Stewart also drew criticism for refusing to condemn white nationalists after last year’s violent rally in Charlottesville.

Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.), said he has “no idea who he is. Not at all.”

See no evil. Hear no evil. Speak no evil.

Pretending they don’t know what Stewart is all about won’t save them. Stewart is, by himself, is a target rich environment. Kaine will have so many lines of attack he won’t know what to do.

If he’s smart, he will ignore him. Stewart doesn’t have a snowball’s chance in hell of beating Kaine and the NRSC knows it, which is why they won’t spend a dime in Virginia. But Stewart has tarred the GOP as the party of white supremacists and the damage has already been done.

Revealed: In January Trump called-out Mahmoud Abbas for Jew-hatred

The New Yorker broke the story deep into a long, long article (“Donald Trump’s New World Order”) that in January President Trump called out Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas for his public disparagement of Jewish history:

…at a meeting of the Palestinian National Council in late April, in Ramallah, he declared that Ashkenazi Jews came not from the Biblical holy lands but from the Turkic empire of Khazaria, and that the Nazi slaughter of European Jews was the result not of anti-Semitism but of their financial activities—“usury and banking and such.”

This is a discredited (by DNA!) attempt to claim that Jews have no right to Israel because they are imposters posing as the people of the Bible. It enjoyed some popularity among anti-Semites for a number of years, but has faded thanks to scientific refutation. Except, apparently, among the Palestinian leadership.

Trump’s response:

On January 17th, the New York Post published a column by Michael Goodwin, a Trump partisan, with the headline “abbas’ jew hatred exposed.” The column described a speech in which Abbas had made comments disparaging Jewish history. It featured a photograph of Abbas waving two clenched fists. On a copy of the article, Trump wrote a note in large black script, “Mahmoud, Wow—This is the real you?” He signed it, “Best Wishes, Donald Trump.” Some of his aides argued that it would be undiplomatic to send the message. Kushner loved it. “That was the President being the President,” he told aides. The White House sent Trump’s message to Donald Blome, the consul-general in Jerusalem, who had it delivered to Abbas at his headquarters in Ramallah. Kushner told aides that Trump was challenging Abbas, saying, in effect, “I want to know, are you a great leader or are you a terrorist? You show me. It’s your choice.”

Here is a photo of the message that has appeared in a few places.

Corey Stewart: GOP Establishment Could Go ‘Way of the Dodo’

Fresh off his Tuesday primary victory, GOP nominee for U.S. Senate in Virginia Corey Stewart appeared on Sirius XM’s Breitbart News Daily Wednesday morning where he was able to tout a presidential endorsement.

Setting the stage for his general election campaign, Stewart told Breitbart News editor in chief Alex Marlow that Democrats like Tim Kaine (D-VA) have “turned their backs” on working Americans. He also attacked the establishment Republican elements who vigorously opposed his nomination, citing their lack on enthusiasm for the president’s immigration and trade agenda.

“If the Republican establishment wants to continue to oppose the president, myself, and others who support him on those things, they’re going to go the way of the dodo. They’re going to disappear,” Stewart told Marlow.

Cracking down on illegal immigration forms the centerpiece of Stewart’s run for Senate as it did in his gubernatorial race last year and his career as chair of the Prince William County Board of Supervisors.

Stewart and Marlow discussed how, on his way back from his historic summit with North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un, President Donald Trump tweeted congratulations on Stewart’s narrow victory over Delegate Nick Freitas:

Freitas, who Stewart had congratulated on a hard-fought campaign, also stood behind Stewart in a Facebook post after his concession. “We have our ticket,” Freitas wrote. “It is going to need our help. Let’s continue to account for ourselves with honor and dignity. God speed and on to November.”

The arch-establishment National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), the main party organ charged with supporting Republican Senate candidate, however, has stated it has no plans to support Stewart against incumbent Senator and Hillary Clinton’s running mate Tim Kaine. The NRSC’s chairman, moderate Sen. Corey Gardner (R-CO), told Politico, “At the senatorial committee we’re focusing on Missouri, Indiana, North Dakota, Montana, West Virginia and Florida.  … We have a big map this year, and what I’ve laid out in races that I’ve talked about, Virginia’s not on it.”

Lame duck, pro-mass immigration Republican Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ) was even more emphatic in his refusal to support Stewart, telling Politico backing Kaine in November “has crossed my mind.”

The tight race between Freitas and Stewart was precipitated by a last-minute attack on Stewart, who had been the front-runner for most of the race. Certain elements of the conservative media unleashed a series of misleading attacks and groups like the Koch Brothers’ Americans for Prosperity threw their weight behind Freitas, leading to a photo finish Tuesday.

“It’s not a big surprise of course. I think what the big surprise was was that I was able to withstand all of those … well-financed attacks,” Stewart told Marlow. “But I’m not gonna worry about it. It’s all full speed ahead. I’m gonna be turning my attention to just kicking the snot out of Tim Kaine.”

Kim Kardashian, Alice Johnson Reveal Commutation Details — ‘Are You Ready to Go Home?’

In a preview of a sit-down interview that NBC’s Hoda Kotb conducted that aired NBC’s “Nightly News” on Wednesday, Kim Kardashian and Alice Johnson offered up some of the details of

Johnson relayed what Kardashian said to her on the phone when she learned her sentence had been commuted by President Donald Trump.

Johnson said, “‘You can go home now, are you ready to go home?’ When she said that, I went into full-fledged Pentecostal holy dance. I started screaming and jumping.”

“I thought she knew because the news was starting to break and we had to get her on the phone,” Kardashian added. “So, she was kind of quiet on the phone, and I know her personality enough to know that she would’ve been screaming or something. And I said, ‘Wait, you don’t know?’ And she was like, ‘Know what?’ And I was like, ‘You’re going home.’”

Maoists and Mumus: Genderless Fashion Coming to a Mall Near You

Could the men’s and women’s sections at your local clothing store be obsolete? The LGBTQ etc. movement’s latest attack on traditional gender understanding is in fashion.

Ungendered fashion is a trend that attempts to get rid of gender stereotypes with clothes. It has ultimately failed and been met with criticism for putting everyone in menswear.

Many stores have adopted gender neutral sections. Zara released it’s version of non-gender specific clothes that featured baggy sweatshirts, white t-shirts and jeans. This was met with criticism because “[T]he models used were all thin and white, and the clothes were all oversized basics” that “are often coded as menswear.”

Target has a “gender neutral” section on its website, but the clothing itself are mostly pride shirts and plain white or grey t-shirts. And it has the same problem as Zara had.

Mic fashion writer Rachel Lubitz explored this idea in an article titled “What would the ideal ungendered fashion collection really look like?” Trying to get behind what activists ultimately want and why “high designers have gotten the concept more clearly.”

Lubitz cited Palomo Spain, a high fashion designer is “known for putting models of various genders in elaborate gowns and skirts.” Thankfully, everyday fashion hasn’t been this successful. It doesn’t mean that activists and designers haven’t dreamed of the future without gender. Lubitz noted that, “with the fashion industry being so divided and devoted to the binary” it would be hard to do.

The founder of gender neutral brand Chromat, Becca McCharen-Tran’s ideal “would be accepting everyone and allowing them to [wear] whatever they want regardless of their gender presentation.”

The “ideal genderfree collection” for Jacob Tobia, a “genderqueer” writer and model, would be a “colorful parade of djellabas,” a unisex garment traditionally worn by men and women in Africa and Asia. “[T]here are no gender roles imposed on these robes, so anyone can wear them.”

He doesn’t want to “live in a euphoric future where there is no gender.” Rather, he wants to “live in a euphoric future where there is so much gender and it’s shimmering everywhere.” But isn’t everyone wearing the same unisex garment ultimately getting rid of gender?

Yet another ridiculous attempt to rid the world of gender. First gender neutral bathrooms, now this. What’s next?

Leaked version of pending House immigration bill calls for amnesty for millions of illegals

Breitbart News claims that it received a leaked draft of Paul Ryan’s immigration bill to be voted on before the House’ recess. I have my fingers crossed that this is not the bill that will be introduced, but rather a preliminary wish-list version. The excerpts posted by Breitbart indicate a complete sell-out of the base in favor of the corporate donors wanting cheap labor.

According to a leaked draft of the amnesty deal, obtained by Breitbart News, Ryan’s plan would allow the entire “DACA population” to be eligible for amnesty so long as they meet low educational, work and criminal requirements, prompting the amnesty to explode in size.

That DACA population could include the nearly 3.5 million DACA-enrolled and DACA-eligible illegal aliens, and even more illegal aliens who arrive in the U.S. to fraudulently obtain the amnesty. (snip)

A second amnesty is included in the leaked draft, one that would allow the children of temporary foreign guest workers and “anyone who has a ‘contingent nonimmigrant status’” to apply for the amnesty.

This amnesty for the children of temporary foreign workers does not have a numerical cap, allowing for an endless amount of foreign nationals to obtain amnesty through this avenue known as “Pathway Concept B.”

“The winners are the DREAMers cause they get their amnesty, Democrats because they don’t have to concede much to get the amnesty and donor-class Republicans who are interested in perpetuating the current system,” Center for Immigration Studies Director of Policy Jessica Vaughan told Breitbart News of Ryan’s leaked amnesty deal.

This sounds like a plan to keep the GOP base at home on November 8 and hand over the speaker’s gavel to Nancy Pelosi.

photo: Wikimedia Commons

Paul Ryan by then will be a lobbyist, of course, and (if this bill passes) very popular with the US Chamber of Commerce.

The GOP establishment remains wedded to the concept that it can bamboozle the base and prosper. That worked well on illegal immigration for a long time, but we have a president that ran on controlling the uncontrolled entry of people by the millions. I don’t think they understand the reaction that will ensue if they pass this.

Retail Sales Boom: Biggest Rise in Six Months, Double Expectations

U.S. retail sales in May far exceeded forecasts, rising by the most in six-months and signaling faster economic growth.

Overall retail sales rose 0.8 percent from the prior month, double the consensus economic estimate of 0.4 percent, according to Commerce Department data released Thursday. The prior month was revised up to 0.4 percent, indicating a stronger April than earlier data suggested.

The retail “control group” sales, which excludes some of the more volatile numbers, rose 0.5 percent, which also exceeded forecasts.
The results likely reflect the high levels of consumer confidence, a very strong labor market, and lower taxes. The unexpected strength in the control group, which excludes gas stations sales, indicates that higher fuel prices have not stolen consumer demand from other sectors of the economy

The Federal Reserve said yesterday that it would raise its target interest rate range by a quarter of a point, citing a strong labor market and other signs of economic expansion. Fed chief Jerome Powell described the economy as “very strong” in a press conference Friday.

Elizabeth Warren caught speaking with forked tongue on billionaires

Investor’s Business Daily has a good one today about a little-noted snippet from Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass) in her interview with The Intercept, who said:

“Until we have all the Democrats who are willing to take on the billionaire class, until we have all the Democrats who are willing to fight for the American people and not for a handful of billionaires and giant corporations, then it’s going to stay an uphill fight.”

Yup. Billionaires, those dreadful tubby white men on the Monopoly Chance and Community Chest cards we’re all supposed to rise up against.

Feel the urge?

Actually, it’s such bull hockey.

Investor’s Business Daily makes mincemeat of Warren’s red-flag-waving call to comradely action, by citing who today’s billionaires are, going down the full list – from the always well-meaning liberal Howie Schultz of Starbucks, to the obsessive environmental wacko Tom Steyer, to the horrible stateless statesman with big designs for wrecking America, George Soros. They have a monster list, and they’ve gone through the whole 500-plus compiliation from the Forbes billionaires list.

Maybe she should have consulted the Forbes billionaire list before declaring that this group is the enemy of the state. After all, the billionaire club — all 585 of them — includes people like George Soros, Warren Buffett, Howard Schultz, Oprah Winfrey — who’ve not only given $140+ million to her party, but support a wide array of liberal causes.

Liz Warren is exposing her fake-Indian roots by once again, speaking with forked tongue.
