CNN Threw Ocasio-Cortez an Easy Question. She Butchered It on National TV

For many on the far-left, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez represents a great new hope.

Ocasio-Cortez is a young, socialist woman whom the far-left seems to have placed all of their anti-Trump hopes into. Even if you disagree with all of her policies, you have to admit, you can at least see why the far-left adores her so much.

And on paper, she certainly hits all the check boxes that the far-left wants in a presumably post-Hillary Clinton world.

Well, except for one slightly important checkbox: She seems to have no idea what she’s actually talking about.

As such, one could assume that Ocasio-Cortez’s most ardent supporters will want her to avoid too much limelight so as not to embarrass herself.

TRENDING: James Woods Pulls Out Dictionary To Bury Leftists Attacking Kavanaugh

So it should be little surprise that when Ocasio-Cortez appeared on CNN’s “State of the Union” morning show on Sunday, she was lobbed some softball questions.

And it worked out great… for her detractors.

CNN host Jake Tapper asked Ocasio-Cortez how she would plan on paying for all of her expensive programs like “free” healthcare for all.

Do you think Ocasio-Cortez knows what she is talking about?

Tapper rightly pointed out that Ocasio-Cortez’s programs would cost around $40 trillion over 10 years. Even left-leaning prognosticators estimate that her programs would only bring in $2 trillion.

Now there are any number of responses Ocasio-Cortez could’ve gone with.

Saving money elsewhere through cuts, promoting other programs meant to boost the economy, or even citing longer-term economic benefits would have all been fine and acceptable answers.

Instead, Ocasio-Cortez once again proved that she generally doesn’t seem to know what she’s talking about when it comes to political and economic issues.

“Right. When you look again at how our health care works, currently we pay — much of these costs go into the private sector. So, what we see, for example, is, you know, a year ago I was working downtown in a restaurant. I went around and I asked how many of you folks have health insurance? Not a single person did. They’re paying — they would have had to pay $200 a month for a payment for insurance that had an $8,000 deductible. What these represent are lower cost overall for these programs,” Ocasio-Cortez said when Tapper asked her about the exorbitant costs of something like Medicare for all.

RELATED: Watch: Ocasio-Cortez Caught Trying To Politically Weaponize Children To ‘Bring Down’ Trump

She didn’t exactly answer the question, but surely, she could do better if she elaborated?

“Additionally, what this is, it’s a broader agenda. We do know and acknowledge that there are political realities. They don’t always happen with just a wave of a wand but we can work to make these things happen. In fact, when you look at the economic activity that it spurs — for example, if you look at my generation, millennials, the amount of economic activity that we do not engage in. The fact that we delay purchasing homes, that we don’t participate in the economy as purchasing cars as fully as fully as possible is a cost. It is an externality, if you will, of unprecedented amount of student loan debt,” she said.

Okay. So we’ve gone from trying to explain how to pay for Medicare for all to talking about the toll massive student debt can have. That seems like a logical connection.

But Ocasio-Cortez’s most baffling statement, which is saying quite a bit, came when she addressed how much Medicare for all would save.

“One of the things we need to realize when we look at something like Medicare for all, Medicare for all would save the American people a very large amount of money. What we see as well is that these systems are not just pie in the sky,” she said.

It seems rather important for any politician or lawmaker to ask themselves, “How will I pay for what I’m proposing?”

Ocasio-Cortez seems to not have given that question any credence.

Last I checked, wishing for the best without giving any forethought is quite literally “pie in the sky.”

In blow to unions, Trump’s NLRB may finally fix the Joint Employer standard

Back in 2015, the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) under the Obama administration redefined what it means to be a “joint employer.” The change, pushed by labor unions, made large corporations that sell franchise rights to independent operators responsible for the HR decisions of those private outlets. The result was uncertainty in several industries, particularly the fast food sector. As I wrote at the time, this was an obvious backdoor for collective bargaining agreements and the biggest targets of the Democrats on this front were in the fast food industry. (McDonald’s actually only owns about 30% of the restaurants you see. The rest are franchised.)

Last December, a part of that rule was overturned, declaring that the “joint employer” standard would only be applied if one entity “exercised direct and immediate control” over essential employment terms of the other. This was a good move which was applauded by employers and relieved some of the burdens on the larger companies which provide a substantial number of jobs around the country. But at the same time, it still failed to completely reel in the redefinition imposed under the Obama administration.

Now, the process may come full circle. As the Daily Caller reported this week, the NRLB is now fully staffed up and appears ready to return to business as usual in this regard.

“The NLRB’s proposed rule seeks to restore longstanding principles on what establishes a joint employer relationship, which rightly center around direct and substantive control over work conditions of another business,” Competitive Enterprise Institute labor policy analyst Trey Kovacs said in a statement.

“The proposed new standard will create greater certainty for businesses, which will allow employers to plan for the future and be confident in knowing what kinds of business-to-business arrangements will establish a joint employer relationship,” he continued.

Since the definition of a joint-employer was expanded, corporate franchisors have been rolling back support for franchisees who have purchased the rights to open a business under the brand name, Great Clips franchise owner Jerry Akers told The Daily Caller News Foundation.

As mentioned above, the resistance to these changes is being driven entirely by the unions. Under current rules, there are still situations where the unions can muscle their way into forced collective bargaining with both the franchisor and the independent franchisees. But the franchisor typically only provides guidelines and best practice advice to the franchisees when it comes to many HR decisions. That’s an important bit of flexibility because conditions vary in different labor markets around the country. Additionally, franchisees frequently have to deal with a dizzying array of state and local regulations which make a one size fits all policy impractical, if not crippling.

Underneath all of this is the common sense understanding that negotiations over labor agreements need to be made with the people who control those HR decisions. In cases where a franchisor directly controls the hiring decisions and compensation packages offered at the franchisee’s outlet (which is rare), unions can still bargain with the controlling franchisor. But independent operators doing business under the franchisor’s name can’t reasonably be expected to submit to such bargaining restrictions.

Actress With $35 Mil Net Worth Slams ‘White Privilege’

One of the many, many mistakes the Democratic Party made leading up to Donald Trump’s stunning 2016 presidential election win was an over-reliance on celebrity and Hollywood endorsements.

Much like the celebrities they relied upon so much, the Democratic leadership seems to have lost all connection with the everyday American.

Whether it was Katy Perry or LeBron James stumping for Hillary Clinton, the American voters sent a loud and clear message through the election that these celebrities, and Hollywood elitists in general, had lost all touch with them.

That utter disconnect with the everyday American was on full display again Saturday night at the Human Rights Campaign’s National Dinner, according to the New York Post.

Hollywood actress Anne Hathaway was present to accept the National Equality Award, and again exhibited that disconnect from reality.

TRENDING: James Woods Pulls Out Dictionary To Bury Leftists Attacking Kavanaugh

“I really needed this,” Hathaway said during her acceptance.

She went on to describe just how “scared” she was about the current state of America.

“I think I’m probably walking around like most people right now. I’m pretty shell shocked by what I see every day, what I hear everyday. And I really don’t like to admit this, but I get scared,” she said.

Hathaway then unloaded on what she viewed as all sorts of “privileges” in America today and lambasted them.

Do Hollywood liberals embarrass themselves with statements like these?

“It is important to acknowledge with the exception of being a cisgender male, everything about how I was born has put me at the current center of a damaging and widely-accepted myth,” she said in a bit of self-loathing.

“That myth is that gayness orbits around straightness, transgender orbits around cisgender, and that all races orbit around whiteness.”

Wait, what? Straight, cisgender and white privilege are the actual myths.

At the end of the day, everyday Americans want a meritocracy. What you get in life should always be determined by what you put into life. Crying for handouts based on the circumstances of your birth is the antithesis of the American dream.

It doesn’t matter if you’re gay, straight, white or black. There is something inherently American about pulling yourself up by your bootstraps and getting things done.

RELATED: James Woods Pulls Out Dictionary To Bury Leftists Attacking Kavanaugh

And yet, Hollywood seems oblivious to that fact.

Not helping matters is the fact Hathaway is grousing about all of these privileges that helped her career net worth reach a lofty $35 million, according to TheRichest.com.

If Hathaway were so perturbed by all of these alleged privileges in America, couldn’t she easily denounce them by returning some of that $35 million to all of those poor, marginalized people?

What was once a mere divide between everyday Americans and the fringes of Hollywood elitisim has turned into a gaping maw of a chasm.

That’s abundantly bad news for the Hollywood-backed Democrats and seems unlikely to change anytime soon.

Disaster in Dem Sen Race: Uncovered Flyers Trash American Soldiers, ‘US Terror’

Arizona was one of the Senate races that the Democrats were hoping to flip this coming November. Democrat candidate Rep. Krysten Sinema has been able to keep up with Republican nominee Rep. Martha McSally in the race for the seat of the retiring Sen. Jeff Flake. A RealClearPolitics polling average shows McSally up by a mere 0.3 percentage points.

That should be increasing in the coming weeks, all thanks to a very telling flyer from 15 years ago.

“As an anti-war activist in the early 2000s, Arizona Senate candidate Kyrsten Sinema led a group that distributed flyers depicting an American soldier as a skeleton inflicting ‘U.S. terror’ in Iraq and the Middle East,” CNN reported.

“The flyers could become an issue for Sinema, the Democratic nominee challenging Republican Martha McSally in one of the most competitive US Senate races this year. CNN rates the race as a toss-up.”

Sinema’s past activism has already become an issue in the campaign.

TRENDING: James Woods Pulls Out Dictionary To Bury Leftists Attacking Kavanaugh

“McSally has previously attacked Sinema’s anti-war past and accused Sinema of ‘denigrating’ the service of the US armed forces in her protests of the Iraq War. Sinema’s campaign has denied those charges and said that while Sinema opposed US intervention in Iraq, she always supported servicemembers,” CNN reported.

However, the flyers seem to tell a different story. Accessed through the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine, one from February 2003 contains the offending cartoon along with the text, “You can help us push back U.S. terror in Iraq and the Middle East.” The flyer was from Local to Global Justice, an anti-war group co-founded by Sinema.

The cartoon shows “a group of protestors striving to halt the progress of three skeletons, one dressed as a soldier, another dressed in a top hat holding a dollar bill and another dressed in a suit.” Sinema is listed as an event contact and the contact information for a local anarchist group that participated is also included.

A second flyer included exhortations to fight “against Bush and his fascist, imperialist war” and mentioned that “Government is slavery” and that “Its laws are cobwebs for the rich and chains of steel for the poor.”

Do you think Krysten Sinema disrespected our servicemembers?

A third flyer featured the Michael Moore-worthy slogan, “Stop the OILigarchy.” The candidate was also listed as a contact for a sign-making event before the rally. According to CNN, the flyer highlighted previous signs with slogans like “Born to Kill, Born to Drill,” “My President Is A Psychopath,” “No Oilgarchy,” “We Burn Stuff (Written on an American Flag)” and “Who Elected this F—–?” as examples of their placard-making prowess.

Sinema spoke at the rally, telling the audience to “let peace rule.” She continued her anti-war activism, telling a local radio station that “this is not about the United States doing the right and moral thing by a toppling an evil dictator.”

“This is more about the United States having access to the oil and the power and control and world stature that it’s seeking. It’s not about the individuals in Iraq,” she said.

The news of the flyers caused a stir on social media.

RELATED: Arizona Rancher Reveals Real Security Threat with 25 Straight Minutes of Security Footage

If Sinema were putting herself forward as a radical Bernie-ista type, this wouldn’t be such a big deal. The thing is that in Congress, she’s tried to put herself forward as a moderate. She’s one of 18 Democrats that are part of the purportedly moderate Blue Dog Coalition (stop trying to make “Blue Dog Democrat” happen. It’s not going to happen) and would stand little chance of winning a statewide race if she were really an Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez clone.

Sinema’s people tried to dismiss the flyers as irrelevant and the issue settled, which is probably the least effective way to go about making this go away.

“Kyrsten comes from a military family and is very proud of her record supporting Arizona’s servicemembers, veterans, and their families,” an email from Sinema campaign spokeswoman Helen Hare to CNN read.

“Attacks on Kyrsten’s respect for those who serve have already been called out as false, and Kyrsten is going to stay focused on the issues that matter most to Arizonans — like making sure Congresswoman McSally and her allies can’t roll back protections for patients with pre-existing conditions.”

Yes, her disrespect for the troops has “already been called out as false.” In other words, every new piece of evidence that her anti-war activism wasn’t of the “respect the troops, but respectfully disagree” variety has been pre-emptively been addressed.

The fact that her name and imprimatur were on a flyer depicting an American soldier as a skeleton is totally impertinent to the debate because she’s “from a military family and is very proud of her record supporting Arizona’s servicemembers.”

This is about as obvious of a deflection as you can get in a political race, and I’ve seen plenty. It doesn’t even address the specific flyers. Her spokeswoman just recites campaign bromides that have been in use since Calvin Coolidge’s time and expects everything to go away. Oh, and stuff about pre-existing conditions, which isn’t so much a red herring so much as a fish market devoted entirely to the sale of red herring.

Krysten Sinema has a lot of explaining to do. Her spokeswoman didn’t do her any favors.

Now, it’s time to hear some actual explanation about how she squares this with her purported “respect for those who serve.”

Don Jr. Goes Off on Brainless Obama Supporters as He Touts Roaring Economy

After eight years of watching and reading liberal media spin that fawned over everything that came out of the Obama administration, it’s nice to hear some reality checks coming from people in the Republican Party.

Donald Trump Jr. has certainly been lighting up social media with support of his father’s policies and setting the record straight on fake news aimed at the Trump administration.

With a booming economy being one of President Donald Trump’s glowing accomplishments since he took office, the left is still trying to diminish his success. Well, Donald Jr. has something explosive to say about that.

In an interview with Breitbart News on Saturday, Trump Jr. took on former President Barack Obama’s recent claims that the Trump economy is just riding the momentum Obama’s Democrat policies started.

“No one with a brain actually believes (Obama) did anything good for our economy or for our foreign policy,” Trump Jr. told Breitbart. “Everyone saw that anything he did basically put America at risk and made us weaker. Every time he drew a red line, other countries walked all over it. He did it again, and they walked all over it.

TRENDING: James Woods Pulls Out Dictionary To Bury Leftists Attacking Kavanaugh

“Guess what? Countries, whether it’s foreign policy-wise or whether it’s business-wise, they realize you have someone now that actually cares about America in there, that’s actually doing it – not someone who’s going to make us look weak where you can walk all over us because that’s the precedent that he set. There’s a new sheriff in town. We’ve changed all that,” he added.

Trump Jr. also told Breitbart that he’s thrilled that former Obama has resurfaced on the midterm campaign trail because he considers him: “Without question, he’s our best salesman.”

But he saved special fire for Obama’s claims about the economy.

“The biggest joke I’ve seen in the last two years is Obama claiming credit – trying to claim this economy because his policies of over-taxation, oppressive regulation, guess what? That didn’t do anything. That drove this country into the ground. That led to the worst recovery in the history of probably economics but certainly our country’s history,” Trump Jr. said.

Do you think the economy is better under President Trump?

“For him to run around doing this now – there’s a reason why on November 9, 2016, all of those matrices shot up like a rocket. It’s because businesses, employers, people realized you got someone who’s actually going to fight for you, not fight just for special interests, not fight for people in countries that hate our guts, but actually fight for real Americans. Real Americans, their jobs, their companies, their businesses.

“That’s what happened, and when consumer confidence started going up the day my father won because they knew he wasn’t going to oppress them, everything started following. I want to keep that going. That’s how we get rid of some of the other problems we’re having. That’s how we get rid of unfunded pension liability. That’s how we get rid of some of our deficits, is by producing, having GDP numbers above 4 percent.

“Okay, remember when Obama said you need a magic wand to make that happen? Well, abracadabra, Obama. We’re doing it.”

Never let it be said that the liberal media passes on a chance to spin for their side.

The Hill published an articled titled “Trump, Obama Spar Over The Economy: Who’s Right?” The piece credited Trump with a soaring stock market and lowest unemployment in decades, but threw cold water on his success because he’s ruffling foreign feathers.

RELATED: Breakdown: Obama Stutters, Mentions Self 79 Times at Rally

“But Trump’s economic policies have their critics, especially when it comes to trade relations, an area where Trump has entered a high-stakes game of tit-for-tat tariffs with major trading partners like China and the European Union.”

And CBS News reported Tuesday: “President Donald Trump pitched a wildly off-base claim about economic growth Monday as the White House used selective statistics to build a case that the economy is doing much better than when Barack Obama was in office.”

I believe most people with a stock portfolio would tell you that they never saw such rapid growth under an Obama administration. And maybe the trade war issue is an issue, maybe it’s not. I also believe the president is implementing a philosophy that some short-term pain will lead to long-term gain.

Regardless, Donald Jr. is right about one thing regarding the economy: “Well, abracadabra, Obama. We’re doing it.”

Desperation: NFL Team Decides 15-Week-Old Baby Should Be Charged Full Price for Ticket

Even if you take all of the politics and anthem kneeling out of the equation, there’s still a lot left to be desired when it comes to the NFL.

Too many players find themselves in legal trouble, whether it’s domestic violence, DUI or other drug problems.

NFL leadership, which includes commissioner Roger Goodell, can seem inept at best, and downright clownish at worst when doling out discipline.

And if you believe there’s a direct link between football and CTE, there can be ethical apprehensions as well.

But other than those issues, at least the NFL is wholesome fun for the entire family, right?

TRENDING: James Woods Pulls Out Dictionary To Bury Leftists Attacking Kavanaugh

Apparently, only if you’re willing to pay full price for every last member of the family — Including 3-month old babies.

One of the NFL’s marquee franchises, the Green Bay Packers, have recently come under fire after it was revealed the team required a mother to pay a full ticket price for her 15-week-old baby.

Die-hard Packers fan Erica Johnson spoke to KMSP-TV in Minneapolis about the ordeal she had to go through when trying to bring her infant into a Packers game.

Should this mother have been charged for bringing her infant daughter?

Johnson had presumed that her infant, who’s too young to have her own seat and would spend the whole game attached to mom, wouldn’t require a ticket to get into legendary Lambeau Field.

“I just want them to step back and review the policy as to the rationale so that being a hometown team, family-friendly environment, the one we’ve always known the Packers to be, that kids could really enjoy that experience,” Johnson said.

Johnson also reiterated how leaving her child at home was just not a realistic option.

“Many nursing moms understand leaving her at home for the average length of the game — three and a half to four hours — just isn’t a feasible option,” she said.  “So you gotta figure out how to make do, which means bringing her with.”

To be fair, the NFL does not have a league-wide policy on admitting small children. While some teams do allow children under a certain size and/or age to be admitted at no charge with parents, Green Bay is one of seven teams that requires a ticket for every person who enters the stadium, regardless of age.

RELATED: Gillette Rolls Out Incredible New Ad, Puts Nike and Kaepernick to Shame

As a point of reference, Disneyland — well known for excessive pricing and expensive admission tickets — doesn’t charge admission for babies under the age of 3.

It’s no secret that the NFL’s image has taken a hit since the advent of anthem protests. Ratings are down and public perception of the league is perhaps at an all-time low. So it doesn’t help the league’s image when one of its marquee franchises is perceived to be reaching deep into the pockets of the mother of a small infant.

You can argue whether a packed NFL stadium is the place for a 15-week old, or question why Johnson assumed she would be able to bring her child into the game. But there’s no question the Packers and the NFL are the ones who look worse in this situation — the latest piece of bad PR for a league that can’t seem to escape it of late.

San Francisco Residents Pleading With Thieves To Spare Their Vehicles

Bad enough dodging fecal matter on the sidewalks.

Via ABC7:

San Francisco residents fed up with having their cars broken into multiple times have taken matters into their own hands. They’re hoping to connect with would be thieves on an emotional level.

Fed up with having his vehicle broken into four times over a year and a half, Felix Kubin decided to express his frustration, writing on the rear windshield, “Thank you for letting this glass remain unbroken. We are a poor family with two kids. No values inside except diapers.”

“Maybe they feel pity or like empathy,” Kubin told ABC7 News.

On the driver’s side window he wrote, “No valuables inside except baby’s milk.”

On the rear passenger window he wrote, “Nothing to take valuable in this car. Thank you.”

Kubin and his wife learned what would work the hard way. First break in, they lost $1,500 worth of sporting goods.

“I think maybe it’s my fault I left the car in such a place,” said Kubin.

Second break-in, they lost just a bag, but in a third break in at Golden Gate Park, much more.

“That time we was really upset because it was all my official papers,” said Kubin.

“My passport, social security, working permit, everything, it was my wallet, it was two phones,” he continued.

The fourth break-in was on Otis Street.

“I see the thieves just open and see milk and diapers and left it,” said Kubin.

That’s when he decided to use a marker to plead his case as a dad.

Bob Woodward Says After Two Years Of Searching He Found No Evidence Of Russia Collusion (AUDIO)

Veteran Washington Post reporter Bob Woodward has just released a new book on Trump so he is making the media rounds to promote it. During an appearance on the Hugh Hewitt show this weekend, he said that he searched for evidence of Russia collusion with the Trump campaign and found none.

HH: And I tell you, Bob Woodward, I read this book as a lawyer. I’m not a defense lawyer, although I was at Justice. Dowd got played badly. Do you agree?

BW: Well, but he is the one who decided on the strategy – total cooperation. We’re going to let you, we’re opening the door completely. And some of the most sensitive material was given to Mueller. He was delighted to have it. It is quite true that Dowd concluded from his own work, remember, he spent eight months on this intensely, time with Mueller, time with the White House people, time with Trump. And he didn’t see anything there until the end.

HH: So let’s set aside the Comey firing, which as a Constitutional law professor, no one will ever persuade me can be obstruction. And Rod Rosenstein has laid out reasons why even if those weren’t the president’s reasons. Set aside the Comey firing. Did you, Bob Woodward, hear anything in your research in your interviews that sounded like espionage or collusion?

BW: I did not, and of course, I looked for it, looked for it hard. And so you know, there we are. We’re going to see what Mueller has, and Dowd may be right. He has something that Dowd and the president don’t know about, a secret witness or somebody who has changed their testimony. As you know, that often happens, and that can break open or turn a case.

HH: But you’ve seen no collusion?

BW: I have not.

Oh, The Irony: Arkansas Nike Store Calls Police On A Peaceful Pro-Cop Demonstrator

Triggered.

Via BPR:

Despite recruiting an anti-cop zealot to represent its “Just Do It” campaign for 2018, the apparel retailer Nike still expects the unfairly maligned police to help it in its alleged hour of need.

One Arkansas-based Nike store in particular reportedly contacted local authorities Thursday after a peaceful pro-police protester showed up outside to purportedly stir up trouble.

Except peaceful protester Jimmie Cavin didn’t approach the store, pester employees or really do anything disruptive whatsoever.

He casually waved a “Blue Lives Matter” flag to show love to the police, and for that act the store called the cops on him. But instead of telling him to leave or even arresting him, the cops wound up turning right around moments later and skedaddling. Why?

“He realized I wasn’t doing anything wrong,” Cavin explained later to local station KLRT.

“So, Nike called the police on the guy supporting the police for supporting the police,” he sarcastically added, the point being to highlight the apparel company’s hypocrisy.

TRUMP FIRES WARNING SHOT AT DEEP STATE: Devin Nunes to Release Depositions from 70 Witnesses Before Election (VIDEO)

TRUMP FIRES WARNING SHOT AT DEEP STATE: Devin Nunes to Release Depositions from 70 Witnesses Before Election (VIDEO)

Jim Hoft
by Jim Hoft
September 16, 2018

Rep. Devin Nunes: We believe those depositions need to be published before the November election: “I think full transparency is in order here.”

House Intel Chairman Devin Nunes joined Maria Bartiromo on Sunday morning to discuss the ongoing investigation into the Obama administration interference in the 2016 elections.

Rep. Devin Nunes: Maria, the American people are now beginning to see, the walls are beginning to close in on the corrupt officials from the Department of Justice and the FBI. Many of them have been fired. Many of them are on leave. Many of them have been demoted. But you are slowly starting to see this collapse in on them even though the mainstream media is not covering this because they seem so focused on drinking the Russian Kool-aid… So, we believe that the depositions we took, from about 70 people, those need to be published and they need to be published before the election, published I mean, they need to be put out for the American people to review, so they can see all the work that we did, and they need to see all the people we interviewed and those answers to those questions. I think full transparency is in order here. So I expect to make those available from our committee to the American public in the next few weeks.

Maria Bartiromo: So let me just go back here. This is breaking news right now. You are going to declassify your depositions of 70 individuals related to Trump Russia collusion narrative.

Devin Nunes: Just for the sake of full transparency because they’re is so much out there information or disinformation on this Russia fiasco that we need this information out before the election.

President Donald Trump retweeted this.
