Six Republican Senators have failed to develop a coalition for their plan that exchanges a fifth of border wall funding for an amnesty for illegal aliens and increased immigration.

The plan, described to Breitbart News, was a creation of Senators Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Susan Collins (R-ME), Thom Tillis (R-NC), Lamar Alexander (R-TN), Rob Portman (R-OH), and Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) and would have tied $5.7 billion in funding for President Trump’s proposed border wall to an amnesty for illegal aliens enrolled and eligible in President Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.

Also included in the plan was a provision to provide amnesty to foreign nationals who are in the United States as Temporary Protected Status (TPS) beneficiaries. The amnesty would have been rewarded to anywhere between 1.2 and 3.5 million DACA-enrolled and DACA-eligible illegal aliens, as well as the roughly 325,000 TPS foreign nationals.

The GOP Senators’ plan would have additionally increased the number of non-agricultural foreign workers that U.S. companies can import to take blue-collar American jobs. Already, the H-2B program gives business 66,000 cheap foreign workers every year.

In statements to the media, Graham said the plan had failed to come to fruition and garner support:

As Breitbart News most recently reported, blue-collar Americans in landscaping, conservation work, the meatpacking industry, construction industry, and fishing jobs have had their wages dragged down by foreign workers imported through the H-2B visa program.

The DACA amnesty-for-wall funding plan is despised by Trump’s most loyal supporters who have warned the administration against caving to the big business lobby and billionaire donor class, both of which have pushed for an amnesty for illegal aliens for the last two years.

Supporters of Trump had told Breitbart News that a DACA amnesty would nullify a border wall.

“Any support of DACA amnesty, before, after or during construction of a border wall is a betrayal to his campaign promises,” ALIPAC President and activist William Gheen said before the amnesty deal fell apart.

The plan came as the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, along with the billionaire Koch brothers, have urged Republicans, Democrats, and Trump to pass an amnesty for DACA illegal aliens.

Corporate interests and the big business lobby have the most to gain from granting an amnesty to DACA illegal aliens, as legalizing millions of low-skilled foreign workers would drag down wages for Americans, drive up profit margins for corporations, and leave U.S. taxpayers with the costs.

A DACA amnesty would put more U.S.-born children of illegal aliens — commonly known as “anchor babies” — on federal welfare, as Breitbart News reported, while American taxpayers would be left with a $26 billion bill.

Additionally, about one in five DACA illegal aliens, after an amnesty, would end up on food stamps, while at least one in seven would go on Medicaid.

The chain migration inflow from a DACA amnesty has the potential to reach nine million foreign nationals arriving in the country, as every two newly naturalized citizens bring about seven foreign relatives to the U.S. with them. This is possibly nine million additional foreign nationals who would be admitted to the country, in addition to the 1.5 million illegal and legal immigrants that arrive annually.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) is reportedly planning to replace embattled Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel with the county’s first black sheriff.

Politico reports that the new appointee will be Coral Springs Police Sgt. Gregory Tony.

Tony was recommended by Andrew Pollack, father of the late Meadow Pollack, who was killed in the February 14, 2018, Parkland school shooting. Pollack said, “[Tony’s] a law-and-order-type policeman who wants to do right by the community and keep the community safe.”

News of a replacement for Sheriff Israel comes just days after he told his staff that DeSantis was suspending him over his office’s handling of the Parkland schooting.

On January 8, 2019, Breitbart News reported that Israel was convinced his suspension was inevitable. The Miami Herald quoted BSO union chief Jeff Bell saying, “We know that he is telling everyone at the public safety building that he is going to be gone.”

Israel has taken heavy criticism for allowing former deputy Scot Peterson to retire following the Parkland shooting. Peterson stood outside the school building and listened to shots being fired instead of going inside to confront the gunman. By not firing Peterson, and allowing him instead to resign, Israel was ridiculed for allegedly contributing to scenario in which the former deputy, aka the “Coward of Broward,” now draws over $100,000 a year in pension.

CNN “New Day” host John Berman and Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL) battled Friday over border security and the possibility of President Donald Trump declaring a national emergency to direct funding to build a wall.

Berman opened the interview with Brooks asking him why he thinks Trump has the authority the declare this situation a national emergency.

“Because the United States code says so,” Brooks responded.

Berman followed that response up by pointing out how the Alabama congressman has been against executive action in the past.

Brooks replied, “[O]nce again, you guys at CNN are misleading the public. Those are different circumstances than what we face today. What we are facing today is a national emergency of major proportions, and Congress has delegated to the president of the United States the right in its expressed United States code – you can look it up yourself – the right to declare a national emergency under certain circumstances. This meets that bill.”

“What’s the emergency?” the CNN host asked.

“With the southern border, we have the loss of at least 15,000 Americans a year. You have 2,000 that are homicides by illegal aliens, according to federal government data. You’ve got another 15,000, 16,000 that die each year from heroin overdoses, 90 percent of which comes across our porous southern border. That’s not counting the 55,000 additional deaths that are caused by overdoses, a significant amount of which comes across the southern border,” Brooks stated. “So, how many dead people do you have to have, John, before you’ll consider it an emergency?”

A seminar at American University in February will instruct faculty members to disregard a student’s “quality” of writing when grading their papers.

According to a report from The College Fix, an upcoming seminar at American University will ask professors to disregard a student’s “quality” of writing when grading their assignments. The seminar, which will be conducted by University of Washington-Tacoma Professor Asao Inoue, will include a variety of lectures that will encourage professors to disregard the quality of writing from students.

One event will encourage professors to recognize “white language supremacy” is perpetuated by standard grading practices.

This plenary will argue against the use of conventional standards in college courses that grade student writing by single standards. Inoue will discuss the ways that White language supremacy is perpetuated in college classrooms despite the better intentions of faculty, particularly through the practices of grading writing.

The seminar, which is entitled “Grading Ain’t Just Grading: Rethinking Writing Assessment Ecologies Towards Antiracist Ends,” will include several events that focus on “antiracist” writing styles.

This workshop will engage participants in rethinking what standards for writing in their courses could be and how those standards can be assessed and graded most meaningfully for students. It will offer a brief account of two antiracist writing assessment practices, and consider one more carefully, dimension-based rubrics for writing assignments. When used in particular ways, this rubric can be a way to acknowledge the diverse range of readers in any classroom. It also can resist the negative effects of grading by a single standard that most conventional rubrics and scoring guides embody.

The event seemingly suggests that any and all language standards are oppressive to students who did not receive the high-quality childhood education of their peers.

San Diego’s KUSI News reported Thursday that CNN asked them for a local news view on the border wall. When KUSI informed CNN that border patrol agents have uniformly told the station that the wall works, CNN lost interest.

Thursday morning, CNN called the KUSI Newsroom asking if one of our reporters could give them a local view of the debate surrounding the border wall and government shutdown…

We believe CNN declined a report from KUSI because we informed them that most Border Patrol Agents we have spoken to told us the barrier does in fact work.

Here’s the clip and below that CNN’s response to it. CNN doesn’t deny it contacted KUSI for a local perspective but claims the decision not to use their reporter is a “non story.”

This explanation sounds reasonable and might even be true. I think the problem here is that it’s really not hard to believe CNN would decline to air a viewpoint that basically backed the president’s view of the border wall.

Just yesterday, CNN’s Jim Acosta was at the border making videos whose clear aim was to say there was nothing much happening at the border which anyone should worry about. That wasn’t true as this report from the same area by Good Morning America’s Matt Gutman demonstrated: “So many surrendering themselves, we struggled to keep up…”

In his on-air reporting yesterday, Acosta also emphasized about 5 times (in under a minute) that McAllen, Texas has a low crime rate. That’s true but Acosta did not mention that a Gallup poll from 2012 and 2013 rated McAllen the city in America where people felt most afraid to walk the streets alone at night:

McAllen was the only metro area in which less than half of all respondents felt safe walking home alone at night. This was despite the fact that McAllen actually had a lower violent crime rate than the United States overall in 2012, at just 319 incidents per 100,000 residents, versus 387 crimes for 100,000 residents nationally. However, violence along the border with Mexico remains a concern for many McAllen residents. The State Department warns against traveling to the neighboring city of Reynosa, Mexico, due to high levels of drug-related violence.

You can certainly argue that this fear is misplaced but my point here is that CNN’s Acosta doesn’t really seem interested in presenting a nuanced perspective on the situation at the border. Instead, as has been the case for months, he seems focused on trying to dunk on President Trump.

So while CNN can protest that the failure to use this one reporter in San Diego was just a show production decision, the fact remains that their actual reporter on the scene didn’t seem very interested in communicating the message about the border wall which that KUSI reporter was prepared to deliver to CNN’s audience. In other words, the problem isn’t this one scheduling decision, the problem is CNN’s obvious bias on this issue. Here’s an AP report from 3 years ago about ranchers along the border being threatened at gunpoint by drug traffickers. I wonder if CNN has spoken to any of these people?

During a public briefing on border security with President Donald Trump, Texas Sens. John Cornyn and Ted Cruz near the Rio Grande in McAllen, Texas, a border patrol officer stood up for the president in his push for a wall on the southern border.

Leftist politicians and the establishment media have tried to paint the wall as alarmist and unnecessary.

This border patrol agent who has seen the immigration crisis firsthand went after the media’s distortions by setting the record straight.

“So far this sector has apprehended folks from 41 different countries. Just yesterday we apprehended 133 people from countries other than Central America and Mexico,” he began. “That includes individuals from India, Pakistan, China, Romania, Ecuador, Nicaragua, on and on and on. And so, I know we keep talking about the family unit and unaccompanied children.”

In other words, it isn’t just helpless migrants escaping poverty who are coming across our border. It’s unknown people from all over the world, many of whom could be dangerous.

“That makes up about, typically about 60, 70 percent. We’ve seen a change over the last couple of weeks where that number’s less than 50 percent of the apprehensions we make here in South Texas.”

This means the number of individual males coming across the border has suddenly increased in recent weeks.

“So, South Texas continues to lead the country in apprehensions, as well as marijuana seizures between the ports of entry,” he continued. “So CBP and DHS are committed to both our border security mission, as well as our humanitarian mission.”

He then took a moment to thank the president and the members of Congress who took the time to see the border for themselves.

“Mr. President, Senators, we couldn’t do it without your support,” he said.

“We really appreciate you coming down here. It means an awful lot to the men and women of DHS, CBP, the border patrol, our local law enforcement. Thank you.”

Thank God for these border patrol agents who work hard every day to protect our nation while exposing the lies exposed the lies of the left and establishment media by sharing the facts.

His words emphasized the need for border wall funding now. Democrats must end the shutdown by giving the country the funding it needs to remain a safe and sovereign nation.
