Report: Some ‘Furious’ House Democrats Want To Make AOC ‘One-Term Congressperson’

Democratic socialist freshman Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY) has definitely made her presence known among her colleagues in her few short weeks on Capitol Hill — and that’s not entirely a good thing, according to recent reports.

After taking out an incumbent Democrat who many believed would follow Nancy Pelosi as Democratic House Speaker, Ocasio-Cortez has announced to the world that she has partnered with far-left progressive group Justice Democrats, whose sole focus is primarying establishment Democrats who aren’t sufficiently liberal or "representative" of the Democrats’ increasingly "diverse" base.

"We as Justice Democrats have the chance to really transform the Democratic Party running in competitive primary elections in Democratic-held seats," one of the group’s leaders said in a recent promotional video for their campaign to primary Democrat incumbents (video below). "One of the important things that gets told in order to like settle us down is, ‘I agree with you. We have the same goals,”’ Ocasio-Cortez added. "It’s great that everyone thinks these issues are important. We need to make them urgent." That "urgency" requires new faces and voices, like hers, ready to make radical changes now — which means ousting insufficiently radical incumbent Democrats.

According to The Hill, Ocasio-Cortez’s open call for more radical candidates to take out her fellow Democrats has "infuriated" her colleagues, some of whom are already floating the idea of finding a primary challenger who can make the youngest woman to ever be elected to Congress a "one-term congressperson."

"At least one House Democrat has been privately urging members of the New York delegation to recruit a local politician from the Bronx or Queens to challenge Ocasio-Cortez," The Hill’s Scott Wong reports.

"What I have recommended to the New York delegation is that you find her a primary opponent and make her a one-term congressperson," the Democratic lawmaker told the outlet on condition of anonymity. "You’ve got numerous council people and state legislators who’ve been waiting 20 years for that seat. I’m sure they can find numerous people who want that seat in that district."

Wong reports that among those who have begun to look sideways at the freshman representative are "many" Congressional Black Caucus members. "Many New York and Congressional Black Caucus lawmakers were also furious with Ocasio-Cortez after a recent Politico report stated she and the grass-roots group aligned with her, Justice Democrats, were considering backing a primary challenge to fellow New York Democrat Hakeem Jeffries, a Black Caucus member and establishment insider who succeeded Crowley as caucus chairman," Wong writes.

However, Ocasio-Cortez and the Justice Democrats deny the claims in Politico’s report.

For now, reports Wong, her fellow Democrats are playing nice, at least on the surface. Black Caucus member Rep. Gregory Meeks’ (NY) public comments on the newly elected congresswoman demonstrate the kind of skepticism underlying his and his colleagues’ approach to AOC.

"We are going to see what happens," Meeks said in an interview. Though he said he is giving her "the benefit of the doubt" and "the presumption of innocence," he made clear that she’ll only continue to get that if she is a "team player." "I can only tell you that the times I’ve spoken to her, and at the times she’s been at the New York delegation meetings, she’s been cooperative and wants to be a team player," he said. "That’s what she said, so you gotta take her at her word until something changes."

She’s also reportedly angered some among the Congressional Hispanic Caucus with her plan to help the Justice Democrats take out centrist incumbent Dem. Henry Cuellar (TX). "We’re going to protect our members and we’re going to protect our own. Full stop," said former Hispanic Caucus whip Rep. Pete Aguilar (CA), Wong notes. "There are plenty of [swing] races and seats that we can play in, and we want to devote our resources to that."

Others have expressed strong doubt that the New York delegation would dare primary Ocasio-Cortez and noted that no candidate has emerged that could potentially challenge her. One insider, who stressed that the representative is "pissing off a lot of people," suggested that Elizabeth Crowley, 41, the cousin of the man she took out in the primary, might be a possibility.

The Potomac two-step: Will no one stand up to the corruption in the FBI, DOJ, and CIA?

For nearly ten years now, Americans who have been paying attention have known that our government has become corrupt, that its premier institutions were weaponized by the Obama administration to the point that we have become something of a police state or banana republic.  This is not to say there was no corruption previous to Obama.  As Sidney Powell addresses in her book License to Lie, the current special counsel, Robert Mueller, and his amoral, ruthless right-hand man, Andrew Weismann, had already been practicing their prosecutions of personal destruction for decades.  In the 1980s, Mueller sent four men to prison who he knew were innocent.  He did it to protect a confidential informant.  Two of them died in prison.  The lawsuits filed cost taxpayers $100M.  That trial was connected to the murderous mafia hit man Whitey Bulger, who was finally caught after sixteen years.  He died in prison in 2018.  Was he murdered to protect Mueller?

There was the total destruction of Enron, and then came the obliteration of Enron’s accounting firm, Arthur Andersen.  Those prosecutions were run much as Mueller and Weismann are running their current job assignment.  Mueller successfully ruined both companies, costing thousands of people their jobs and sending nonviolent people to prison, sometimes to solitary confinement like what he did with Paul Manafort.  Fortunately, but too little, too late, nearly all of the guilty verdicts they managed to elicit from juries were overturned by the Supreme Court in both cases.

Why were these two men not disbarred?  How this malicious and vindictive man continued to rise to be a U.S. attorney in Massachusetts and California before becoming head of the FBI is a still unexplained mystery.  The old adage about what rises to the top appears to be true too often.  Obama definitely used the FBI, DOJ, and CIA for his own ends without regard for the Constitution, rights to privacy, and basic decency.  People like Mueller have been around for years and years, poisoning the agencies they are charged with running lawfully.  Mueller is just one of the worst, but he has plenty of company: Patrick FitzgeraldEric Schneiderman, Eliot Spitzer, and Eric Holder come to mind.  Each of them perpetrated crimes against the DOJ and the American people as surely as Comey and McCabe have against the FBI, by using the power of the government for their own despicable ends.

Mueller was not hired to investigate Trump; he was hired to cover up crimes, his own and those of his fellow travelers, their elaborate plot to derail the Trump campaign and then to orchestrate his impeachment by any means necessary.  His appointment was successfully manipulated by Comey and Rosenstein for their own purposes.  Now Mueller has authorized the over-the-top SWAT-team, guns-drawn raid of Roger Stone’s home, an exercise that would be comical if it were not so deadly serious.

It appears we are now a police state.  Stalin would be proud.  The left and the media all approved of this preposterous bit of nasty theater.  Stephanopoulos said such tactics are “common,” a blatant lie.  As Tucker Carlson pointed out, Mueller sent more men to get Stone than Obama sent to get Osama bin Laden!  But then Stephanopoulos is nothing but a tool of the left, a talking head with a script to read.  Who writes the bilge he reads?  Would be good to know, but one thing is certain: they have as their goal the destruction of America and its most cherished values.

There is a scene in the film Clear and Present Danger (1994) in which the president says to the CIA analyst who has uncovered his treachery and is threatening to spill the beans: “You’ve got yourself a chip in the big game.  You’re going to tuck that away and save it for a time when your own ass is on the line, and then you’re going to pull it out, and I’m going to cash it in for you.  The old Potomac two-step.”  One can only conclude that far too many people in D.C. know that dance, and they dance their way to the top.  Is there no one aside from Trump who will work to help drain this swamp?

Covington Kids’ Attorney Lists Potential Libel Lawsuit Targets, and It’s Fantastic

Attorney Robert Barnes is representing several students from Covington Catholic High School who he says were libeled in the aftermath of the incident at the Life for March.

And, in an appearance on Fox News over the weekend, he listed the individuals he would be going after.

First, those who are in the clear: Rep. Ilhan Omar, who posted a tweet that claimed the students told a woman, “It’s not rape if you enjoy it” and who took the side of the Black Hebrew Israelite sect harassing the students, saying they were harassing the sect instead. Barnes said they asked her to retract the tweet and she did.

Also on that list was comedian Kathy Griffin, who retracted tweets which were aimed at doxing the students.

Then there those facing possible suits. The first mentioned was Reza Aslan, the former CNN host who’s known for his frequently profane rants against anything that has to do with Donald Trump or conservatives.

TRENDING: They Did It Again! CNN Caught Radically Editing Trump Clip To Make Him Look a Liar

Here was his take, not retracted, seeming to call for violence against a minor:

In an interview Saturday with Fox News Jesse Watters, Barnes said Aslan is one possible target of a lawsuit.

Another potential target is Matthew Dowd, the ABC News analyst who first lambasted the kids and then clung to the idea that the fuller video showed them to be racists.

Those tweets were still up late Monday morning, which means Dowd was looking at a possible lawsuit.

The New York Daily News is another potential target for their article mistaking a Covington Catholic “blackout game” for an instance of blackface.

As Watters pointed out, however, libel lawsuits can be difficult to win.

“From my limited understanding of the law — I did not go to law school — it’s a very high bar, the slander and the libel,” Watters said. “I mean, you have to show malicious intent and knowingly that something is wrong and defamatory. It doesn’t always work in court. Are you confident you’re going to be able to secure judgments?”

Do you think these journalists should be sued?

Barnes pointed out, however, there was a “unique exception.”

“When there is a defamation and libel of private citizens, particularly minors, then the legal standard goes way down,” Barnes said. “So you no longer have to prove actual malice or malevolent intent. All you have to prove is that a false statement was made — or in Kentucky, the law is even broader, ‘an unflattering impression given and a person’s impression in a false light’ — and otherwise … that it just be negligent to do so.”

That, Barnes explained, is why the families gave individuals a 48-hour window to retract or delete their statements.

“If they still refuse to do so, it’s clearly negligent for them to keep false statements up.”

And that’s not something I think the left particularly wants. At least at this point, the media is able to pass the kerfuffle off as a cultural Rorschach test: You see what you want to.

If it gets into a court of law and journalists who should have known better are clearly shown to have not known better, that’s not only going to drag this on — it’s more than likely to move this into a stage where news organizations are going to try to dig up dirt on minors to defend themselves or admit they were desperate to keep the narrative alive.

It’ll likely show, in a very public forum, how they denigrated and villainized underage kids for clicks and ratings.

That’s not a fate anyone who rushed to judgment on this case wants. The longer their arguments are out in the sun of public scrutiny, the more they wither and putrefy — and to a jury, that could look like a large cash award.

Democrats’ Worst Fear Is on the Horizon as a Massive 3rd Party Billionaire Moves Closer to Becoming a Candidate

After the 2000 election, Ralph Nader was pretty much exiled to cultural Siberia for the claim that his third-party run got George W. Bush elected. I mean, let’s face it, most younger liberals probably couldn’t have picked a man best known for killing the commercial prospects of the Chevrolet Corvair three decades prior out of a police lineup of two people, but now they knew who he was — and they loathed the man with the same intensity they loathed Dubya.

If Howard Schultz has anything to say about it, however, Nader’s place in the history books could finally revert to being the man who got a mediocre rear-engined GM economy car off the market.

If you’re not into business or the field of liberal activism, you also might not be able to pick Howard Schultz out of that two-person lineup. He’s the former CEO of Starbucks, having served two stints in that position and being the man most commonly associated with bringing the brand to worldwide prominence. He’s also a Twitter neophyte, having just sent out his first three tweets.

And wouldn’t you know it, two of them had to do with the possibility of him running for president:

TRENDING: They Did It Again! CNN Caught Radically Editing Trump Clip To Make Him Look a Liar

Do you think Howard Schultz will run for president?

It was at that auspicious moment that at least 13 potential Democrat presidential candidates called their doctor and asked for a Xanax prescription.

In an interview with The New York Times, Schultz told the newspaper “he was preparing to run for president as an independent and had already begun the groundwork required to be on the ballot in all 50 states.”

“We have a broken political system with both parties basically in business to preserve their own ideology without a recognition and responsibility to represent the interests of the American people,” Schultz said.

“Republicans and Democrats alike — who no longer see themselves as part of the far extreme of the far right and the far left — are looking for a home,” he continued, saying he thought the answer to our problems lay beyond party politics. “The word ‘independent,’ for me, is simply a designation on the ballot.”

RELATED: Starbucks Forced To Apologize After Vet Finds ‘Chang’ Printed on His Order

Here is Schultz making his statement to “60 Minutes” in an interview that aired Sunday:

In this respect, Schultz could definitely be a spoiler. Of the serious declared Democrat candidates — I’m assuming Rep. John Delaney of Maryland’s prospects are non-existent that Rep. Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii’s are marginal at best — the most centrist among them is Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand of New York, who’s hardly centrist at all.

Former Vice President Joe Biden will almost certainly enter the race, but one assumes even he’s going to have to move further left than he was in the Obama administration in a primary season that will likely see activist voters dominate.

And there arises the problem with Schultz.

Yes, Schultz could theoretically attract conservatives who were reluctant Trump supporters in 2016, particularly depending on what Robert Mueller ends up presenting, whenever he presents it.

However, in a moment where American politics are deeply cultural, Schultz’s credentials come as the CEO of a company not entirely beloved by conservatives. Also, even in 2016 — back when prospects of Trump winning seemed dim and there was plenty of dissent within the GOP ranks, Evan McMullin and Gary Johnson couldn’t tap into that resentment to siphon off votes.

That brings us to the Democrats, who still seem to forget that what the base may want is fundamentally different from what the wider party will vote for.

“Already top Democratic operatives working for presidential candidates and beyond say they’re worried that the only thing he’ll accomplish is making sure Donald Trump gets re-elected,” Edward-Isaac Dovere reported in The Atlantic. “It’s more than just sniping at a prospective opponent; word that he might invest in an independent run has many of them clearly worried about how he’d split votes in a general election.”

“Trump’s strategy has always been divide and conquer, and this plays directly into his hands,” an anonymous Democrat strategist told Dovere. Schultz is “Ralph Nader without any of Nader’s redeeming qualities. What’s his value proposition for America? Make America like a corporate chain?”

Schultz’s value proposition may be that he’s not whoever the Democrats nominate. Remember, the party’s success in 2018 was partially built on activist voters and the tendencies of midterm elections to bring out voters who oppose the president. However, one key to Democrats’ retaking the House was fielding moderate candidates in suburban districts where antipathy toward Trump ran high.

Can Democrats sell Elizabeth Warren to these voters? Bernie Sanders?

Maybe if the other candidate is Trump and the Democrats’ entire campaign is solely about the perfidies of the Trump administration, sure. But if those newly minted Democrat voters are given a legitimate third-party challenger that’s none of the above and peddles himself as a centrist who isn’t reflexively anti-business and has a chance of winning, that strategy would necessarily be thrown out the window.

Schultz, 65, is worth $3.3 billion. Campaigns are expensive nowadays, but that’s enough money to make a significant dent, particularly if you’re a Ross Perot type who comes to the late-life conclusion that just being known as a CEO isn’t enough to ensure your legacy.

If the former CEO decides he wants to blow, say, a fifth of his fortune on a delusional, quixotic bid for the presidency, I can see him easily see him in double digits — if perhaps not in the White House.

The problem for the Democrats is that not much of that support is going to siphon off from Trump. And while 2000 had Democrats forcing Ralph Nader out of the public sphere, 2020 could get them to try and force Howard Schultz out of the country.

Trump Taunts Former Starbucks CEO Schultz Over Presidential Run: I Actually Agree With One Thing He Said

Trump being very Trump, trying to troll him in, knowing it would harm Democrats.

Via Daily Wire:

Over the weekend, former Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz announced that he is strongly considering running for president as an Independent, intentions he discussed in an interview with “60 Minutes” Sunday night. Though thus far he’s stopped short of officially announcing a run, he’s making clear he believes he is a viable “alternative” not only to Trump, whom he blasted in the interview as “not qualified to be the president,” but Democratic candidates as well.

“Not only the fact that this president is not qualified to be the president, but the fact that both parties are consistently not doing what’s necessary on behalf of the American people and are engaged, every single day, in revenge politics,” Schultz told “60 Minutes” concerning his rationale for a potential run as an Independent.

Government Shutdown Opinion Poll Spells Big Trouble For Democrats Especially For Nancy Pelosi

Looks like people don’t like her game playing.

Via Twitchy:

Someone’s negatives shot WAY UP during the government shutdown, and it’s not who the media and the Left want you to think it is.

Which is probably why we’re not seeing more about this particular poll.

Nancy Pelosi’s negatives SHOT UP, and oh yeah, she’s the most unpopular politician tested in that survey.

Which is hilarious when you consider how many Tweeps are pretending she somehow ‘won’ in all of this. Nobody won, it was a huge mess for all involved and we’re no closer to being secure than we were before the shutdown. If Democrats see that as a win we have a bigger problem here but that’s another story.

Lefties Threaten To Boycott Starbucks If Former CEO Runs For President

Democratic operatives flipping their gourds and hoping to bully him out of the race. You know, to “save democracy.”

Via Daily Wire:

Where will they write their screenplays?

Over the weekend, Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz announced he is “seriously considering” a run for president as an Independent in 2020.

Schultz said the same in an interview with “60 Minutes” that aired Sunday night.

Schultz’s remarks about potentially running for president were not received well by the Left, which hopes to unseat President Donald Trump and believes an Independent such as Schultz could siphon off votes from the eventual Democratic nominee.

In response to Schultz’s flirtation with a presidential candidacy, many on the Left suggested boycotting the coffee chain until the CEO calls off his run.

Neera Tanden, the president of the left-wing Center for American Progress, said she would start a boycott against Starbucks because Schultz’s run “will help Trump win.”

“Vanity projects that help destroy democracy are disgusting. If he enters the race, I will start a Starbucks boycott because I’m not giving a penny that will end up in the election coffers of a guy who will help Trump win,” Tanden tweeted.

New York Democrats Pass Bill to Fund College for Illegal Immigrants

New York state lawmakers approved a measure that aims to dole out millions in taxpayer-funded aid to “Dreamers”—who entered the country illegally—attending college.

The now Democratic-controlled New York state Legislature on Wednesday passed the Dream Act, legislation that would make thousands of “Dreamers” eligible for financial aid to attend public colleges in the state. The bill, which has attracted praise from Democratic New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, would cost $27 million.

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is DCNF-Logo-300x100-26.png

The measure is “a slap in the face for all the hardworking taxpayers who play the rules and struggle for the costs of a college education,” Republican state Sen. Daphne Jordan said of the bill.

Jordan was joined by other Republican state legislators in criticism of the Dream Act, who argued it would unfairly take money away from legal residents who struggle to pay their college tuition.

The bill had been introduced in the New York Legislature before, but Republican control of the state Senate had prevented it from moving forward—until Democrats gained control of both chambers after the 2018 midterms.

“We do this as a symbol that you will be guaranteed an education and that the door to higher education is open to all children of New York State,” stated De La Rosa, sponsor of the bill and immigrant from the Dominican Republic.

While Cuomo has not yet signed the bill into law, he has expressed support for tuition for illegal immigrants and he has already included his own version in the state budget plan.

Passage of the Dream Act came one day after New York legislators passed a bill dramatically expanding access to abortion. The bill, which was promptly signed into law by Cuomo, allows women to have abortions after 24 weeks in situations where “there is an absence of fetal viability, or at any time when necessary to protect a patient’s life or health.”

New York Democrats say they have just begun.

Supporters of the Dream Act say they will also consider allowing illegal immigrants to obtain driver’s licenses and give them better housing protections. Cuomo has also expressed interest in forcing insurance companies to provide free contraceptive care.

A Couple Tried To Destroy The Wrong Person’s Career. Then They Refused To Apologize For Their Mistake.

April Sellers was an up-and-coming dancer and choreographer in Minneapolis, MN. That is, until her name was falsely smeared by a couple who mistook her for a different April Sellars.

Jinah Parker was celebrating her interpretive dance production titled “SHE, A Choreoplay,” which debuted off-off-Broadway and included four women dancing and discussing sexual abuse. But on Oct. 21, 2017, Parker and her husband – producer, author, and former “The Real World” cast member Kevin Powell – discovered that not everyone was a fan of the show. Powell has a history of domestic violence against women, which he mentions in his public speaking engagements. In his memoir, “Who’s Gonna Take the Weight,” Powell acknowledged that he could become violent again.

In a Facebook post and in an email to the couple, a woman referenced this past while criticizing Parker’s play.

“You are being a hypocrite. How can you present a message via dance on sexual violence, but knowingly choose to marry an admitted woman beater?!” the woman wrote. “Kevin Powell admits that he can relapse into violence. Don’t be deceived and trade your safety for someone who can assault you.”

The email was signed: “April Sellers.”

Parker and Powell Googled the name April Sellers and found a woman with the name in Minneapolis where they lived. The woman ran a business called the April Sellers Dance Collective. The couple assumed this woman, described by City Pages as a 43-year-old “an anarchist queer feminist known for avant-garde expressions of body politics,” and assumed she must have been the same April Sellers who sent the critical email.

Two weeks after the received the email, Powell wrote a 1,200-word email and blind copied to numerous local media outlets and art centers, as well as the Minneapolis NAACP, and others. It read, in part:

“For you, as a so-called progressive White woman, to think it’s okay to send a note like that to a Black woman, about her relationship with her Black husband, speaks to a kind of racist privilege and racist condescension deeply steeped in the history of this country.”

The couple called Sellers’ messages “hateful, racist, sexist, mean-spirited, disrespectful, and so much more,” according to the Star Tribune.

Sellers – the choreographer in Minneapolis who received the email response – was shocked and confused.

“I wanted right way for anyone who might have gotten it to know it wasn’t me. I didn’t do it,” Sellers told City Pages. “More than anything, I wanted to engage.”

Sellers replied to the email less than two hours after it was received, and claimed the couple were mistaking her for someone else. Neither Parker nor Powell responded to any of Sellers’ attempts to clear her name.

Sellers withdrew from the art community for fear of how she had been portrayed. A month after she received the open letter from Parker and Powell, she ran into Star Tribune art critic Rohan Preston at a restaurant. Preston asked how Sellers was doing, as the two had a friendly relationship, and she cried.

A year after she was publicly shamed for something she didn’t do, Sellers hired a lawyer and threatened to sue Parker and Powell if they didn’t retract their letter and apologize for defaming Sellers. The couple refused and hired a lawyer of their own. So, Sellers followed through on her lawsuit.

The April Sellers who actually wrote the Facebook post and email to Parker and Powell was found by the mistaken Sellers’ attorney, Aaron Mills Scott. This April Sellers – April Maria Sellers – lived in Cleveland, Ohio, and was a fan of Powell’s work, but also is an activist focusing on domestic violence.

April Maria signed an affidavit stating she had written the original email. This did not result in an apology to the other April Sellers from Powell and Parker. Instead, the couple attempted to blame Preston, the art critic, for the mistake.

Powell claimed in a deposition reviewed by City Pages that Preston trashed Sellers the choreographer, noting she had “a history of trafficking in black culture” and could be a “loose cannon with her voice.” Powell claimed Preston gave him examples of Sellers’ racism.

Preston testified at the trial for Sellers’ lawsuit that this was not true.

“I was certainly dismayed by what he ascribed to me,” Preston told City Pages. “About being lied on, frankly. That he would essentially try to use my credibility to pawn off his mistakes.”

In court, Preston disputed Powell’s claims by saying he was at his daughter’s volleyball game with Powell called and didn’t speak to him much. He said Powell vented and Preston suggested he make sure he’s right about Sellers.

The couple claimed in court that they did nothing wrong in sending the email blasting the wrong April Sellers and claim Preston is a liar. When Sellers’ attorney gives his closing statements, Powell, according to City Pages, stuck his fingers in his ears.

The jury awarded Sellers $210,000, about half of what she requested. Despite this verdict and the affidavit from April Maria, the couple never apologizes for what they did to April Sellers.

Instead, they started a GoFundMe to raise money for their legal bills.

“I also need funds for a possible and absolutely necessary appeal,” Powell wrote. “Here we are in a majority White city and state, Minneapolis, Minnesota, two Black folks from New York City, going up against a White woman with an all-White jury. You can only imagine our trauma around this situation.”

Further, Powell told City Pages that proof didn’t matter, only a history of racism in America.

“Regardless if we had proof or not, what we do have proof of is the historical reality of being a person of color in America and having people talk to you in any kind of foul way and thinking it’s okay, even in the state of Minnesota that’s supposed to be liberal and progressive,” Powell said.

Not only did they defame a white woman, but they attempted to blame a black man – Preston – for their mistake while remaining adamant they had done nothing wrong.

Border Patrol Wife Invites Speaker Pelosi to See Why Walls Are Needed

The wife of a Texas-based Border Patrol agent invited Speaker Nancy Pelosi to visit the border to see for herself why walls are needed.

“We would like to show you around! You don’t need to bring any security detail. Our husbands/significant others are actually very good at their jobs, thank goodness!” Jill Demanski, the wife of a Texas-based Border Patrol agent wrote in a letter to Speaker Pelosi. She told Fox News she wrote the letter because she felt Pelosi needs to see this area of the border in person in order to make an informed decision about border security funding.

“We would also appreciate if you’d stop pretending that you care about federal workers,” she continued. “If you did, you would care for their safety, not just their paychecks. We can hold out a while longer if it means our husbands and communities are safer.”

She emphasized that elected representatives should meet with the agents on the ground to get a more accurate understanding of the need for physical barriers and to see the actual work being done by their husbands.

Another Border Patrol wife, Renea Perez, joined Demanski on Fox & Friends Monday morning, saying, “It is definitely needed. We just want them to come down there on the line and actually see where the whole argument is about.”

The wives of Border Patrol agents endured weeks of their husbands going to work and putting their lives on the line while they were not being paid during the partial government shutdown that ended late last week. She said she was glad Demanski wrote the letter to Pelosi.

“It was kind of written in a time of high emotion. It’s been tough, and at times we have felt like nobody cared about us families, about our agents,” she said. “Bills don’t stop, so we were feeling like we were forgotten.”

Demanski said the border wall is not a Trump issue and that Border Patrol agents have been asking for the barriers along the border for years.

“We finally have a president that has come here and seen firsthand the need for it, and has had our back,” she said on Fox & Friends on Monday. “You can support a wall without being a supporter of Trump.”
