An illegal alien convicted of raping a dog to death was released by the sanctuary state of Oregon after being sentenced to just 60 days in prison.

As Breitbart News reported, illegal alien Fidel Lopez, 52-years-old, was convicted last month and sentenced to 60 days in prison after raping his girlfriend’s small Lhasa Apso which led to the dog’s death. The judge in the case said he would have given the illegal alien more prison time but that 60 days is the maximum sentence allowed in Oregon.

Following his sentence, Lopez was immediately released because he had already served 60 days while waiting to stand trial. Despite his illegal alien status, Multnomah County, Oregon officials released Lopez back into the community.

The Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency had requested that the illegal alien be turned over to them for deportation should he be released from prison. The sanctuary state officials ignored the ICE request and released the illegal alien into the public.

“On April 8, Lopez was convicted of sexual assault of an animal and aggravated animal abuse and sentenced to 60 days in jail with credit for time served,” ICE spokeswoman Tanya J. Roman told the New York Daily News. “The Multnomah County Jail did not honor the immigration detainer and released him without notice to ICE.”

“Sanctuary policies not only provide a refuge for illegal aliens, but they also shield criminal aliens who prey on people in their own and other communities,” Roman said.

Now, ICE officials have taken Lopez into custody where they expect he will be deported from the U.S.

Democratic socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York might have to return to bartending after her first term, at least if recent polling data is any indication.

The Stop The AOC PAC recently surveyed residents in New York’s 14th Congressional District, which Ocasio-Cortez represents, about their congresswoman.

“My family came from Russia when I was a baby, and I grew up hearing what they went through. And I have a strong dislike for that ideology,” the PAC’s founder, Dan Backer, told The Daily Caller, explaining why he believes it’s so important to fight Ocasio-Cortez’s policies.

“‘The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing,’” Backer said, quoting a line from former President Reagan, though 18th century statesman Edmund Burke was the first to use it. “Someone had to stand up and do something. If we don’t challenge socialism, we let it win,” Backer added.

It looks like Ocasio-Cortez’s constituents are already turning against her, according to data collected through Backer’s organization.

“We did robocalls and text message polling and compared the data,” Backer said.

The results were telling.

“We saw that the district is for the Green New Deal and some of her other policies,” Backer said.

“But they’re wildly opposed to her with regard to Amazon, the reality of the jobs and the opportunities that she cost them. She screwed over the local economy in a big way, and screwed over her voters.”

Earlier this year, Amazon canceled its plans to bring its headquarters to New York, which would have provided 25,000 new jobs in exchange for $3 billion in tax breaks.

Amazon canceled the deal because multiple New York elected officials, including Ocasio-Cortez, were hostile to the company and its plans.

“It was that the environment over the course of the past three months had not got any better. There were some local and state elected officials who refused to meet with Amazon and criticized us day in and day out about the plan,” Jodi Seth, Amazon’s head of policy communications, told NBC News at the time.

Ocasio-Cortez, for her part, celebrated Amazon’s decision to cancel the deal on Twitter and slammed Amazon’s “corporate greed.”

But not everybody was celebrating the loss of jobs — even liberal New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio was upset at Ocasio-Cortez for spoiling the Amazon deal.

And Stop The AOC PAC’s canvassing data suggests that only 9 percent of voters agree with Ocasio-Cortez’s position on Amazon.

Another 36 percent support Amazon, while 55 percent of respondents said they were “unsure.”

Moreover, only 20 percent of respondents said they hold a favorable opinion of their democratic socialist congresswoman, compared to 44 percent of voters who have an unfavorable opinion of her.

This poll, of course, is absolutely humiliating for Ocasio-Cortez. Many of constituents don’t support her, and a large chunk of the poll’s respondents (43 percent) said they weren’t even familiar with her.

Her constituents don’t seem to be fans of her hostile stance toward Amazon, which chased away 25,000 jobs.

But voters should expect more of the same from Ocasio-Cortez, as her democratic socialist policies will inevitably result in fewer jobs and less prosperity.

“I think she’s very beatable,” Backer told The Daily Caller. “Her district — they don’t know her, they don’t like her, they don’t trust her. As long as we give voters the choice, they’re choosing to turn away from her.”

Ocasio-Cortez touts herself as a heroine for the working class, but many of her constituents rightfully see her for what she truly is — a job-killing socialist.

Snapchat’s new gender-swap feature has taken over the Internet, with users marveling over how the app transforms them into a member of the opposite sex. But social justice warriors concerned about the plight of actual gender-swappers are firing back, accusing Snapchat both of minimizing what its like to transition and of buying into the notion of the “gender binary.”

A number of transgender individuals have complained to major news outlets, like the New York Post and the Guardian, about how the Snapchat filters turns transitioning gender into a game, and how the app “appropriates” gender transition and turns it into a game.

“My gender’s not a costume,” one transgender individual told the Post. “This story that I feel is very real. I lost a lot to be who I am, and I fought really hard for the body that I’m in.

“And when certain people post it and write about how silly it is and how goofy they look with this filter,” the person told the paper, “it makes light of the transgender experience.”

The application isn’t meant to be a serious exploration into the notions of gender and the gender binary. It’s meant to be a fun, silly way for Snapchat users to modify their self-portraits for posting. But there are some things that, to social justice warriors, just aren’t funny.

“Experimenting with identity is fun, which is why the filter is so popular — but what’s fun for some, is a punishing reality for others. Many from the LGBTQ+ community have been quick to point out that Snapchat’s filter not only strictly adheres to the gender binary, but also many users’ insouciant attitudes towards gender play hardly translate in real life,” noted one writer on TheNextWeb.

One “non-binary” speaker told VICE media, “There’s a fine line between encouraging people to take gender less seriously and not considering trans realities or carelessly perpetuating misunderstanding about trans identities.”

It’s also not just an insult to transgender individuals to change your appearance in a single selfie, it’s also a sin against progressive notions of gender — largely that there are more than 37 genders (at last count) and that allowing users to “swap” themselves between male and female is simply unfair to those who believe that they fit somewhere in between, or on a different spectrum altogether.

“These new Snapchat filters got y’all out here having fun with gender roles, joking about sex with your homeboys, and sporting beards with lashes. All we ask is that you keep that same energy when you interact with actual transgender and non-binary ppl. Thanks, management,” wrote a critic on Twitter.

“oh so if queer people play around with gender, it’s called “unnatural” and “gross,” but if cishet people do it, it’s called a snapchat filter? okay then,” wrote another.

Snapchat isn’t the first social media platform to offer a “gender-swap” feature, and it certainly isn’t the first time Snapchat has run afoul of social justice warriors. A previous “Bob Marley” filter that gave users dreadlocks like the famous Rasta musician got Snapchat accuse of permitting “blackface” on their network. An “Asian” filter that gave users traditional Asian features was criticized as racially insensitive and culturally appropriative.

For its part, though, Snapchat says it’s not removing the filter, which is meant to be temporary anyway.

“We understand that identity is deeply personal,” the company said in a statement to the Post. “As we have and continue to explore the possibilities of this technology, our Lens design team is working … to ensure that on the whole these Lenses are diverse and inclusive by providing a wide range of transformative effects.”

Making a major break with his party’s extreme stance on abortion, a Democratic governor has signaled his support for pro-life “heartbeat” legislation, which would ban abortions after the unborn baby’s heartbeat is detected (around six-weeks gestation).

Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards identifies as a rare pro-life Democrat, and apparently has personal ties to the issue.

“When I ran for governor, I said I was pro-life and so that’s something that’s consistent,” he said when asked about heartbeat legislation making its way to his desk, reported Fox News.

“My position hasn’t changed. In eight years in the Legislature, I was a pro-life legislator,” Edwards said. According to Fox News, the Democrat says his faith directs him in supporting life, but that he also holds “personal significance” to the cause: “Nearly three decades ago, he and his wife decided to have his daughter, diagnosed as a baby with spina bifida, against the doctor’s advice to abort.”

“I know that for many in the national party, on the national scene, that’s not a good fit. But I will tell you, here in Louisiana, I speak and meet with Democrats who are pro-life every single day,” Edwards noted during his monthly radio show.

The governor’s position is far from his Democratic counterparts. For example, in January, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo celebrated a bill permitting abortion up to the moment of birth in the state for essentially any reason.

That same month, Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam endorsed abortion-til-birth and infanticide during a radio interview.

“When we talk about third-trimester abortions, these are done with the consent of the mother, with the consent of physicians, more than one physician by the way, and it’s done in cases where there may be severe deformities, there may be a fetus which is non-viable. So in this particular example, if the mother is in labor, I can tell you exactly what would happen, the infant would be delivered, the infant would be kept comfortable, the infant would be resuscitated if this is what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physician and the mother,” Northam said.

And during the 2016 presidential election, the party’s nominee, Hillary Clinton, supported abortion up until the moment of birth without restriction and said she’d work to end the Hyde Amendment, which currently stops the federal government (your tax dollars) from funding abortion.

“I will always defend Planned Parenthood. And I will say consistently and proudly: Planned Parenthood should be funded, supported, and appreciated; not undermined, misrepresented, and demonized. I believe we need to protect access to safe and legal abortion, not just in principal but in practice,” Mrs. Clinton said in 2016.

Conservative legislators have been teeing-up a showdown at the Supreme Court with a slew of pro-life legislation in the past few months. The Alabama Human Life Protection Act, signed into law on Wednesday by Republican Gov. Kay Ivey, serves as the nation’s strictest anti-abortion law. The law totally outlaws abortion, save an exemption for the life of the mother, and targets third-party abortionists with life in prison for carrying out illegal procedures.
