Venezuela Is Still Carrying Out Chavez’s Strategy to Poison America. But Trump Can Stop It.

Venezuela continues to go down the drain.

As the world wonders how thuggish Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro manages to cling to power, we received a fresh reminder that the problems plaguing Venezuelans started long before him.

It was Hugo Chávez, Maduro’s predecessor and mentor, who set Venezuela on the road to ruin almost two decades ago.

We have also learned that, as part of that journey, Chávez initiated a campaign to flood the United States with cocaine. That’s just one more reason why the Trump administration must keep pressing to rid the Western Hemisphere of Chavismo.

U.S. federal prosecutors have claimed that, shortly before his death from cancer, Chávez directed his top lieutenants to work in tandem with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia to weaken the U.S. via an epidemic of drugs.

With Chávez’s backing, the guerillas became a major producer of hard drugs, distributing them to Latin American cartels and splitting the profits with el presidente and his cronies.

Chávez’s handpicked successor, Maduro, inherited his criminal enterprise as well as the presidency. Today, it’s not just the support of China, Russia, Iran, and Cuba that keeps Maduro in power—it’s his criminal network and the cash it provides.

There is little doubt that the unholy alliance between the Venezuelan regime and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia is still in operation.

Recently, guerrilla commander Luciano Marin—a key figure in the peace talks with Colombia—renounced the peace deal he helped broker and declared he was taking up arms again.

Guess where he has been operating. If you said “Venezuela,” go to the head of the class. Maduro has declared that Marin and another guerrilla commander were “leaders of peace who would be welcomed in Venezuela.”

The documents filed by federal prosecutors were not public before this month. But the Trump administration has long labeled Maduro a de facto drug lord. One of the officials cited by prosecutors, Diosdado Cabello, was already under sanctions for trafficking and money laundering.

And it is not just the U.S. that suffers from the regime’s drug war on us. Colombia, Panama, and several Caribbean states have to deal with the debilitating influence of criminal cartels—their violence, mayhem, and corrupting riches.

Meanwhile, the entire region struggles under the responsibility of caring for the millions of Venezuelans who have fled from Maduro’s despotic and economically ruinous rule.

Maduro has dug in deeper than an Alabama tick, but that shouldn’t deter the U.S. from continuing its campaign to isolate, punish, and hopefully convince the strongman to finally let go and let the people of Venezuela have a future.

When Ambassador John Bolton left as national security adviser, many assumed the administration’s interest in the people of Venezuela would go with him.

That is unlikely to happen. Bolton may have pressed too hard and been too optimistic over how quickly the regime could be brought to heel.

Still, over the last two years, the U.S. has worked with a coalition of nations in the region who see clearly the dangers posed by the Maduro regime. It is important to keep that coalition together.

Only in partnership with these friends and allies can the continent banish the drug cartels, master migration issues, deal with dangerous transnational terrorists groups such as Hezbollah, promote economic freedom and regional growth, empower women, and keep destabilizing actors—including China, Russia, Iran, and Cuba—at bay.

The good guys of the Western Hemisphere can start by banding together at the United Nations General Assembly and making it clear that they won’t stand for this kind of bad behavior anymore.

They could begin by protesting the very idea that the illegitimate Venezuelan regime should stand for election to the Human Rights Council. In fact, it is an embarrassment that Maduro’s people are recognized at all at the U.N.

Now is the time to say “no mas.”

With Millions in Dues at Stake Across US, One Man Fights His Union for a Refund

Francisco Molina got a refund check from his former union compensating him for dues collected after he resigned his membership.

This means that the money Molina earned on the job since that time can’t be used to finance union political activity he doesn’t support.

But what about the dues he paid as a social services aide for Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, prior to resigning from the union? This question remains unresolved.

That’s because a Pennsylvania law makes it possible for labor unions to collect dues from government workers who decide they no longer want to be union members.

Molina, who was a shop steward for Service Employees International Union Local 668, ran into difficulty a little more than a year ago when he resigned from the union.

He told SEIU officials to stop collecting dues from his paycheck.

What happens next in his case, and others raising similar legal questions, could have ramifications across the country. Millions of dollars, perhaps tens of millions, in union dues and fees are at stake, according to legal filings.

Related: He Tried to Quit His Union. The Law Didn’t Let Him, and He Lost His Government Job Instead.

Molina has said he resigned from SEIU membership because his “personal values never matched the union’s.”

Going After Refunds

Liberty Justice Center, a nonprofit, public interest law firm based in Chicago, has joined with National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation, a nonprofit legal advocacy group in Springfield, Virginia, to seek refunds of union fees that government employees claim were collected from them illegally.

These cases are active in Pennsylvania, New York, Maryland, and Illinois. In the Maryland case, Liberty Justice Center estimates that almost 10,000 state employees “could recoup up to $7 million that the union took from them.”

In a related case out of Pennsylvania, Liberty Justice Center estimates that about 2,000 employees “could recoup as much as $1 million in illegal union fees they paid between 2017 and 2018.”

Although Molina’s case is “unique among others’ cases seeking retrospective relief,” his lawyer said in an interview, Molina’s free speech arguments could reverberate across state lines if a federal court in Pennsylvania decides the union should refund dues he paid before resigning his membership.

Molina argues that he and other government employees were denied due process because the union didn’t apprise them of their First Amendment rights.

As The Daily Signal previously reported, the SEIU rejected Molina’s resignation letter dated July 16, 2018, saying he had to remain a union member under Pennsylvania’s “maintenance of membership” law, which applied to his contract.

Molina continued to protest, but Lehigh County dismissed him from his government job as a social services aide in the Office of Children and Youth Services on Aug. 14, 2018, a few weeks after he resigned from the union.

Union Strategy

Molina filed a lawsuit in January against SEIU Local 668, challenging the union’s refusal to allow him to resign his membership and claiming it violated his constitutional rights under the First and 14th amendments.

The Fairness Center, a nonprofit, public interest law firm based in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, represents Molina in the case filed with the U.S. District Court of the Middle District of Pennsylvania.

In July, Judge Yvette Kane dismissed portions of Molina’s complaint in an opinion that said the former shop steward’s pursuit of “retrospective monetary relief” is “moot” because the SEIU did agree to refund the dues he paid since his resignation from the union.

Molina also appeared to lack standing, Kane said, because he no longer was a union member when he filed the case. The judge was appointed in 1998 by President Bill Clinton.

Molina’s lawyer declined to reveal the amount of dues or fees involved in his case.

“SEIU officials are implementing a strategy to avoid court rulings on constitutional issues because they know they would lose,” David Osborne, a lawyer with The Fairness Center, told The Daily Signal in an interview.

“The judge in this case found in favor of the union and said the fact that [Molina] had gotten his money back means either he doesn’t have standing or the case is moot. These important claims have been dismissed, but the case is still active.”

Because the union “cried uncle” before the court addressed the substantive question of the constitutionality of the “maintenance of membership” provision of  Pennsylvania’s Public Employe Relations Act, Osborne said, the law will remain on the books for the time being.

What the Supreme Court Said

Under the disputed provision, public employees may resign union membership only during a 15-day window before their contracts expire. Public sector unions such as the SEIU stipulate that members must submit a resignation letter by certified mail within that 15-day window.

But for Molina, and other public employees across the nation, the Supreme Court’s ruling in June 2018 in the case of Janus v. American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees turned out to be a game-changer because it struck down mandatory dues and fees imposed by unions for government employees.

Liberty Justice Center and National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation represented Mark Janus, an Illinois state employee who objected to AFSCME’s political activities, in his case before the Supreme Court.

Molina told The Daily Signal in an interview that the Supreme Court ruling in favor of Janus provided him with the impetus to resign from the SEIU.

Although the federal court dismissed Molina’s complaint seeking dues collected since he resigned from the union, his case remains active because the judge said she is willing to entertain his complaint seeking refund of “preresignation dues,” and to consider the possibility that he didn’t get due process.

“It’s not the end of the case for a couple of reasons,” The Fairness Center’s Osborne said. “Molina raised due process arguments because he believes he was not properly informed of his rights, and he has also made a claim seeking dues going back for two years based on the fact that he believes the membership card he signed was invalid. So, his case is not dead.”

In the meantime, SEIU Local 668 appears to have dropped the “maintenance of membership” requirement in its new collective bargaining agreement for state employees over concerns that the state’s legal provision is unconstitutional.

The Daily Signal sought comment from SEIU 668 on the latest developments. The union had not responded by publication time.

National Impact

“Francisco [Molina] believes he’s entitled to a return of pre-Janus dues in part because the SEIU itself recognized that the membership card he signed prior to Janus was invalid,” Osborne said. “So Francisco could make a national impact with his case, but I’d describe the impact as establishing a foothold—not necessarily a right—for any other public employees who want to recover pre-Janus dues payments.”

While Molina and other government employees in Pennsylvania press their cases in court, some state lawmakers have introduced proposed changes to state law that would strike “maintenance of membership” requirements as unconstitutional in light of the high court’s Janus ruling.

State Rep. Kate Klunk, a York County Republican, introduced a measure (HB 785) that would require government employers to notify workers of their rights. State Rep. Greg Rothman, a Cumberland County Republican, introduced a bill (HB 506) to allow government employees to resign from a union anytime they like, without a window to do so or any other restrictions.

Commonwealth Foundation, a free-market think tank based in Harrisburg, released a new report that includes an online interactive database detailing public sector labor laws in all 50 states.

“The Janus decision was a watershed moment for workers’ rights, but our report shows that a lot of heavy lifting still needs to be done to ensure the ruling is enforced,” Charles Mitchell, president and CEO of Commonwealth Foundation, told The Daily Signal in an interview, adding:

Since Pennsylvania is not a right-to-work state, it stands out as one of the states most impacted by the decision. But our ‘maintenance of membership’ law represents a loophole allowing union leaders to keep public employees locked into paying dues and supporting political positions at odds with their own.

Thankfully, Pennsylvania lawmakers are proposing to do away with resignation restrictions. Other states, especially those friendly to worker freedom, should seize on the Janus ruling as an opportunity to update their own statutes. Union leaders will continue calling in political favors from their allies in government. We can’t let them undermine the workers’ constitutional rights.

Trump Calls New Sanctions on Iran the Harshest Ever Placed on a Country

President Donald Trump said Friday that new sanctions on Iran’s national bank are the strongest ever placed on a country, but reiterated that he hopes to avoid military action against the Islamist regime.

“I think sanctions work. The military would work. That’s a very severe form of winning,” Trump said during a joint White House press conference with Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison.

“Nobody can beat us militarily,” the president said. “Nobody could even come close. What we’ve done for our military in the last three years is incredible.”

Iran is widely suspected to be behind the bombing of Saudi Arabian oil fields last week. Iran has denied involvement.

Trump responded to a question about whether the administration’s new action exhausts sanctions, and what other options short of military action the United States might take.

Before the press conference, Trump announced in the Oval Office that the United States has sanctioned the Iranian national bank.

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin described the move as the strictest form of sanctions on Iran, one that will block any financial interaction between the Islamic republic’s central bank and a U.S.-related entity.

“We are continuing the maximum pressure campaign,” Mnuchin told reporters before the press conference, saying that Iran’s central bank—as well as its national development fund or wealth fund—“will be cut off from our banking system.”

“This will mean no more funds going to the [Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps] to fund terror,” the treasury secretary said. “This is on top of our oil sanctions and our financial institutions sanctions.”

Australia’s Morrison said he and the president did not discuss Iran, but during the press conference he characterized the United States as having a “calibrated, I think, very measured response.”

Trump stressed that Iran has great potential if it would stop funding or otherwise supporting terrorism in other countries.

“These are the strongest sanctions ever put on a country. We are at a level of sanctions that is far greater than ever before with respect to Iran. We’ll see,” Trump said during the East Room press conference.

“They are having a lot of problems,” he said of Iran’s leaders. “Not only with us. They are having a lot of problems in their own country. They have a lot of self-made problems.”

Trump said jumping into another military conflict would have been the easy route, given the U.S. military advantage.

“Going into Iran would be a very easy decision. Most people thought I would go in within two seconds, but, plenty of time,” Trump said.

“Iran could be a great country. It could be a rich country,” Trump said. “They are choosing to go a different way [and] they will be very sorry for that choice. I think I am showing great restraint. Some people respect it, some people don’t. I’m looking at what’s good for the United States. What’s good for our allies. It’s working out very well.”

The sanctions are a signal that the maximum pressure campaign will not change, said Jim Phillips, senior research fellow for Middle Eastern affairs at The Heritage Foundation.

“The new sanctions are significant but are unlikely to be decisive,” Phillips told The Daily Signal. “The important point that I think the administration is making  is that the pressure on Iran continues to mount and will not be relieved by the regime’s escalating challenges—only made worse.”

ICE-Hating Groups Used Facebook to Incite Violence

Abolish ICE thugs in Colorado want to see the homes and families of immigration enforcement officials set aflame.

Denver communists want alien detention facility employees dead, swinging from nooses with broken necks.

Both groups are brazenly using Facebook to spread their inflammatory and violent messages.

So, where is Silicon Valley—whose top companies partner with the Southern Poverty Law Center smear machine to de-platform conservatives, pro-lifers, and Donald Trump supporters—to stop the open borders left’s escalating hate?

On Thursday, Sept. 19, Abolish ICE Denver and the Denver Communists are organizing a protest outside the house of Johnny Choate, the warden of the immigrant detention facility in Aurora, Colorado.

Choate works for GEO Group, which operates the center.

Instead of laying blame at the feet of global profiteers who induce illegal immigrants to risk their families’ lives to trespass our borders, anti-ICE agitators are targeting homeland security employees and contractors who simply enforce federal immigration and detention laws passed by Congress.

The Denver Communists group shared a poster on Facebook with Choate’s face superimposed over a generic neighborhood map with private residential homes.

“CONFRONT LA MIGRA WHERE THEY LIVE,” the radicals urged members. The graphic describes Choate as “warden of Aurora’s notorious ICE concentration camp.”

That’s the same inflammatory and defamatory language popularized by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., and used by Antifa militant Willem Van Spronsen, who attempted to firebomb the Tacoma ICE facility, also run by GEO Group, in July.

The protest announcement also includes the phrase, “C—– La Migra!” It’s the slogan of Mijente, a Latino activist group leading the Abolish ICE movement. Translation: “F— the Border Patrol.”

A commenter edited a distorted image of Choate’s face surrounded by flames, suggesting arson. His post was liked by three other fans/followers/members of the Denver Communists’ Facebook Group.

Another commenter leveled his own explicit thread on the Facebook page targeting Choate and his family in his home: “Reenact human rights abuses, get hanged by the neck until dead. Simple.”

As I report in my book “Open Borders Inc.: Who’s Funding America’s Destruction?” this virulent hatred for ICE and the Border Patrol traces its ideological lineage back to the cop-bashing domestic terrorism of the 1970s that festered in academia and resulted in bloodshed across the country at the hands of the Black Liberation Army and the Weather Underground.

Today’s Abolish ICE extremists harbor the same seething “Pigs in a blanket, fry ’em like bacon” contempt for immigration enforcement as the “progressive” cop-haters of the 1970s and their George Soros-subsidized heirs in the Bush-era A.N.S.W.E.R. and amnesty coalitions, Code Pink, Occupy Wall Street, and Black Lives Matter movement.

The underlying mission back then was the same as now: Destabilization, disruption, and destruction of civil order.

David Booth, who lives in Choate’s neighborhood, refuses to sit by while these bullies invade his community.

“I was shocked and surprised when I found out there was going to be an ‘ICE protest’ in my neighborhood,” he told me Tuesday.

Booth discovered that Abolish ICE Denver used Facebook to spread information on how they will be “going door to door in the neighborhood to let people know that a ‘monster’ lives among us.”

Booth condemned the witch hunt headed his community’s way: “This policy of intimidation that we see the left continue to use is not OK. … I would like to see the neighborhood rise up and support this man and his family.”

I reached out to Facebook for a response to these public safety concerns, but received no answer by my deadline.

For Coloradans, violent threats to law enforcement officials’ neighborhoods are especially disturbing given the chilling 2013 assassination of the head of the Colorado Department of Corrections outside his home in Monument.

Booth will stand publicly in defense of his community Thursday and says he has his neighbors’ support.

“I think most of us, if not all, believe this protest is inappropriate regardless of where we stand on the issue of immigration,” said Booth. “Our neighbor is just doing his job, and has done nothing wrong, or illegal, in carrying out his duties.”

Following Stand With ICE rallies in Aurora, Colorado, and Montgomery County, Maryland, that have drawn nearly 1,000 citizens over the past two weeks, Booth decided he could not sit on the sidelines.

He is not alone, and we have only just begun.

I will join Coloradans again on Saturday, Sept. 21, when another Abolish ICE group marches to the Aurora ICE facility where the American flag was torn down in July.

If not us, who? If not now, when?

Capitol Hill Tea Party Rally: Americans Do Not Want Socialism!

Jenny Beth Martin. (Getty Images)

At a rally on Capitol Hill to “educate our fellow Americans about the difference between socialism and freedom,” Tea Party Patriots Chairman Jenny Beth Martin said her organization and conservatives in general are concerned that people are blindly giving in to socialism without realizing it will “infringe on their natural rights.”

“We are just making sure that we are educating our fellow Americans about the difference between socialism and freedom,” Martin said. “We have seen that everywhere where socialism has been tried it has failed and we don’t want that.”

The “Stop Socialism, Choose Freedom Rally” was held on the West Lawn of the Capitol on Thursday, 2019.

“In honor of our 10 years of strength, we are heading back to Washington, DC … to send a loud message to Washington and the entire nation that the American people DO NOT want to see America become a socialist country,” said the Tea Party rally organizers online.

“There is a growing trend towards socialism coming from the radical left-wing in this country and it’s time to stand up against it once and for all,” they said.

“We don’t want Obamacare expansion,” they added. “We don’t want Medicare for All. We don’t want single-payer health care. We don’t want the government to pay for college tuition. We don’t want the government to forgive student loans. And we sure as heck don’t want the government raising taxes to pay for it all.”

The Tea Party Patriots movement started on February 2009 with protests against government intervention, and advocacy for free enterprise. In April 2009 the Tea Party Patriots movement rallied with more than 250,000 people for tax cuts and against the proposed reforms of health care.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas).

Ten years later, on Thursday, they movement rallied to help “stop socialism,” Jenny Beth Marin. Speakers included senators and representatives and people who had migrated to the United States from socialist countries.

The crowd was smaller than expected. However, those who were there said they were fully engaged in what they believe is their mission of “bringing awareness on the dangers of socialism,” as Robin Whitworth, one of the attendees, said.

“I figured if there were five people, I would be number six,” Whitworth said. “You state what you believe and if you are in the majority, that is wonderful. If you are not in the majority you try to gain the majority’s opinion,  win them over to your side.”

Conservative talk-radio host Mark Levin.

Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas), an ally of the Tea Party movement, spoke during the rally.
“Socialism says let’s do everything that isn’t working and let’s go back and do even more of it,” he said. He also criticized the Democratic candidates who are trying to run for president.

“How many of you have been foolish enough to watch these Democratic debates?” Cruz asked the crowd. “It is twiddle dumb and twiddle dumber. You see those embracing positions as they gallop further and further to the left.”

“Every one of them is saying, ‘we are raising taxes’ … all of them are supporting open borders, they are saying ‘we are going to provide free, taxpayer healthcare to every illegal alien in America.”

Conservative talk-radio host Mark Levin also spoke during the rally. He criticized the Democrat candidates, stressing that they want to advance a socialist agenda and replace the rights and rules of the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

Jennifer Zeng, author of “Witnessing History.”

“We are here today because we believe in one word, Liberty,” Levin said. “Socialism is the opposite of liberty. Under socialism you surrender your heart, your soul, and your mind to Elizabeth Warren, to Bernie Sanders, to Corey Booker, and all the rest of them.”

“I’ll be damned if we are going to swap any of them [Democrat candidates] for any of our Founding Fathers,” Levin said. “We need less government, more liberty. We need to go on the offensive. They talk about taxing wealth, where is that in the Constitution?”

Some of the other speakers included Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah), Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Ala.), author Jennifer Zeng, Debbie Dooley, head of Conservatives for Energy Freedom, and U.S. Army National Guard hero Alek Skarlatos, who helped stop a guman on a Paris-bound train in 2015.

Candace Owens: Dems Using White Supremacy Issue to Scare Blacks into Voting for Them

(Screenshot)

(CNSNews.com) – Conservative commentator and Blexit leader Candace Owens testified in Congress Friday at a hearing on confronting violent white supremacy, telling a House Oversight and Government Reform subcommittee that Democrats are using the issue of white supremacy to scare blacks into voting for the Democrat Party.

During her opening testimony, Owens acknowledged that white supremacy is “indeed real,” but added that “despite the media’s obsessive coverage of it, it represents an isolated, uncoordinated and fringe occurrence within America.”

“It’s a fringe occurrence that is being used in my opinion by Democrats to scare Americans into giving up their votes to a party that can no longer win based on simple ideas, which is why we’re seeing so many of these hearings back-to-back despite other threats that are facing this nation,” she said.

“I want to reiterate that point. White supremacy is real, just as racism is real, but neither of these ideologies are real in this room. They have become mechanisms for the left to continue to call these hearings and to distract from much bigger issues that are facing this country and which threaten minorities, much bigger issues that they are responsible for,” Owens added.

She ticked off a handful of issues that she said are greater threats to black America: father absence, illiteracy, and abortion.

White nationalism sounds a lot better as a threat than father absence. When are we going to call a hearing on the 74 percent of single motherhood rate in black America today? My guess is probably never. Since Democrats are the author of that epidemic, which leaves us – black Americans – 20 times more likely to end up in prison, nine times more likely to drop out of high school, and five times more likely to lead a life in poverty and to commit crime.

White nationalism also sounds a lot better than illiteracy rates. I’m assuming we’re never going to call a hearing on that, which is a real epidemic which is facing black Americans and minority Americans today, an epidemic which by the way has a lot closer of a tie to our nation’s history of white supremacy. Slave codes in the early 19th century made it illegal for black Americans to learn to read. Why? Because if slaves could read, they could access information. I don’t believe that much has changed.

On the most recent National Assessment of Education and Progress, just 17 percent of black students scored proficient in reading at a 12th grade level. Eighty-three percent of blacks in America were not found proficient in reading at a 12th grade level. Are we going to have a hearing on that? Probably not.

White nationalism also sounds a lot better than abortion as a threat, which has resulted in the slaughter of 18 million black Americans since 1973 and points to a bigger crisis, which is the fact that the black population growth has stagnated in this country. The crisis, and in major cities like in New York, we have more black babies aborted than born alive. If we’re talking about preserving lives and we’re talking about white supremacy, we should probably have a conversation about that.

Owens said that Democrats in the hearing are focused on white supremacy on the Internet so they can get permission to censor conservatives.

“But today in this room, we’re going to see Democrats try to connect the dots to white supremacy on the Internet. So the question is why? So that people who have absolutely nothing to do with propagating white supremacy are censored, silenced and controlled. What they are actually after is our permission to censor and silence and control any dissenting voices that go against the mainstream narrative that they wish to propagate,” she said.

Owens described attempts by liberals to silence her on social media.

To give a glimpse into just how absurd and expansive the definition of white supremacy has become, I offer to the committee that I have been libeled and smeared by Democrat media cohorts as someone who supports white supremacy. You need but look at me to determine that that just isn’t true.

Why? Because I routinely say black people don’t have to be Democrats. I am now considered somebody that is radicalizing people on the Internet. What a radical idea – black people waking up to the abuses in the Democrat Party, which has been instigated upon black America over the last 60 years. There have been sincere attempts – just so everybody knows – to censor me on social media, because I am radical.

YouTube once censored me for criticizing Black Lives Matter. They reversed the censorship, and they apologized, and they called it a mistake. Facebook once censored me for calling out liberal supremacy as a threat facing black America. What I said specifically was that in any community where liberal policies reign supreme, you’ll find that black America is hurting. I stand by that assessment.

Facebook reversed my censorship, apologized and claimed it was a mistake. Of course, I’m fortunate that I have a big enough platform that when I get branded something extreme, I can reverse it, but the majority of Americans don’t have that platform. The majority of Americans with dissenting opinions are silenced forever.

Owens said that liberals use the term racist to silence those who disagree with them and the term white nationalism is being used to anger black Americans into voting for the Democrat Party.

Many words which have once held very serious meanings have come to take on a very different definition over the last couple of years as Democrats have desperately tried to grapple with the fact that they are no longer able to manipulate Americans with broad claims and broad strokes of racism, sexism, misogyny and the like, words like racism, which today most nearly means anything or anyone that disagrees with a liberal and terms like white nationalism, which today and in this room and upon this floor most nearly means that it’s election time in America.

It’s time for the left to do what they do best – divide, distract and hope to keep the most important voting block to their party – which is black Americans – angry and emotional and reactive enough to keep voting for the same party that has systematically destroyed our families, sent our men to prison, and deferred all of our dreams.

I will close out by telling you that this is not going to work. America and more importantly, black America, is waking up to the ploy, the bad acting, the faux concern, these hearings. It’s not going to stop black America from breaking the chains of victimhood, and it’s certainly not going to stop me from being one of the loudest voices against it.

Scaring the children on climate is cruel, cynical, and dangerous

It is dangerous when teenagers that have been indoctrinated their entire life are treated as if they have knowledge on climate change and fossil fuels.  They are just repeating talking points when trotted out on media outlets and before Congress as if they were experts. They have been discouraged from doing research and critically thinking because they have been told the science is settled. They know that anyone who says the climate is and has always changed naturally is de a climate change denier; to get good grades they need to repeat what they are told.

It is more dangerous when almost all journalists and other Democrats repeat the same talking points instead of doing research and asking questions. Instead of pointing out to the teenagers that temperatures, sea levels, storm activity, droughts and floods have always fluctuated naturally, and previous dire predictions have been 100% wrong they just go along.

A high percentage of high school students don’t have basic math, reading or science skills, yet yesterday they were let out of school by the millions to push the Democrat agenda on climate as if they somehow have knowledge on that. They are being denied genuine education on the basics and cynically exploited as pawns for a government power grab.

DC Climate Strike 9 20 19 (YouTube screen grab, croppped)

Myron Ebell and Steven J. Milloy of the Competitive Enterprise Institute have produced a landmark listing of projections of projections of doom that have gone bust. Here are some of the previous predictions on the climate that have been 100% wrong:

In 1922, the AP, WP and other news outlet said that coastal cities would soon be gone along with the Arctic ice because of warming.

In 1970, on the first Earth Day, billions would starve to death soon because of cooling.

In 1975 a Newsweek headline “Global Cooling is Coming”. Maybe the teens should be asked a simple question: If rising CO2, Fossil fuel Use and rising populations cause warming how did the World cool so much for over 25 years that a large number of people were predicting problems because of cooling?

1989-The UN predicted we only had ten years left to fix the warming problem.

2008-ABC predicted New York City would be under water by June 2015. They also predicted milk would be $12.99 per gallon and gas would be $9 per gallon. They were so close.

2008- Nancy Pelosi said on Meet the Press that we have to get away from fossil fuels and go to natural gas. Do we really want people making our laws who seemed to be so confused over a decade ago?

2009-Al Gore predicted Arctic icecap would be gone by 2014-It actually increased in 2014

November 12, 2009. Al Gore said on the Conan Obrien that the Earth was several million degrees a few feet below the surface. Gore is treated as an expert and he was only several million degrees off.

After Hurricane Katrina hit, we were told hurricanes would be more severe and more frequent than ever and we had over a ten-year lull in serious hurricanes hitting our shores.

We have repeatedly been told that because of global warming we would have snowless winters. In 2018-2019, there were record snowfalls in California and elsewhere. The drought, which was supposedly caused by humans and fossil fuels in California, ended because of the record snows.

For decades we were told that the reason we needed alternative fuels like wind and solar was because we were going to run out of oil soon. Now that we know there is plenty of oil, we are told that it is destroying the Earth and we have to outlaw it.

Here is a list of dire predictions that have been right on the climate the last 100 years:

I couldn’t find any.

Instead of telling children they are going to die soon because of fossil fuels and scaring them into pledging  not to have children, they should be taught that fossil fuels have increased the quality and length of life the last 150 years and temperatures rise and fall naturally as they always have. They should also be told the truth that CO2 is a clear, innocuous, non-pollutant gas that makes plants thrive and allows the World to be fed.

Every policy solution the Democrats propose, on whatever their dire predictions of the day are, involves transferring massive amounts of freedom, power and money to the bureaucrats and politicians. That is the greatest existential threat to the survival of the United States as a great country. Not the continued use of fossil fuels.

Dems Veto Red Flag Law for Gangbangers

If Democrats were serious about using red flag laws to keep guns out if the hands of people who might use them to senselessly murder others and therefore are danger to society, and not just as a gun-control tool to disarm law-abiding citizens, then why did they kill an attempt to use compiled lists of known gang members, which many police departments and law enforcement agencies possess? Why did they kill a measure to red flag gang members? And if Beto O’Rourke is going to come and take our guns, particularly our AR-15s, is he going to start on the south side of Chicago? As the Washington Examiner noted on September 14:

House Democrats this week advanced a new measure to encourage states to pass “red flag” laws, known as extreme risk protection orders, that authorize removing guns and ammunition from dangerous individuals.

Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee amended the measure during a Wednesday mark-up to authorize the federal government to issue extreme risk protection orders in some instances, but they rejected an amendment that would have red-flagged anyone who law enforcement lists as a gang member.

“The majority of violent crime, including gun violence, in the United States is linked to gangs,” Rep. Ken Buck, a Colorado Republican who sponsored the amendment, said Wednesday. “My amendment is quite simple. It would allow the issuance of a red flag order against anyone whose name appears in a gang database if there was probable cause to include that individual in the database.”

Dems like House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler warned that people could be wrongly identified as gang members, just as people have been mistakenly put on no-fly lists.  But identifying NRA members and law-abiding citizens exercising their constitutional right to keep and bear arms as killers-in-waiting are okay to Nadler, Swalwell, and O’Rourke. Yet, as Buck points out, urban police departments have a pretty good idea of who the gang members in their community are and are held to a high standard before officially listing them as member:

Buck pointed out his amendment requires law enforcement to limit red-flagging to only those with probable cause to be included on the list, which is a stricter criteria…

“Maybe you are just doodling because it is the 13th of June,” Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler of New York said.

Buck said police have to meet a much higher threshold to list someone as a gang member.

“This is a situation where the police officers are trained, and there are very identifiable signs, and it isn’t just one sign,” Buck told Nadler.

Chicago has the equivalent of a mass shooting every weekend, and just to put faces on those whom the Democrats want to exempt from red flag laws, consider that on last Tuesday two separate trials began in Chicago for known Chicago gang members Dwight Doty and Corey Morgan for the murder of nine-year-old Tyshawn Lee. As Fox News reported:

Two reputed Chicago gang members allegedly executed a 9-year-old boy in broad daylight because they sought revenge on the child’s father’s rival gang, which they blamed for gunning down family members, prosecutors said Tuesday.

Tyshawn Lee, 9, was in his school uniform when three men approached him in the South Side of Chicago in November 2015, prosecutors said during opening statements.

Prosecutors said Corey Morgan and Kevin Edwards kept watch while Dwight Doty lured the fourth grader into an alleyway. They said he promised him a juice box.

Doty then took out a .40-caliber handgun and shot Lee, Cook County Assistant State’s Attorney Margaret Hillmann said.

Two separate trials began for Morgan and Doty on Tuesday. The two alleged members of the Bang Gang/Terror Dome faction of the Black P Stones gang seek to pin the blame on each other for the child’s slaying, reports said.

No red flags for these guys. Gang members with .40 caliber handguns? No problem or you might be mistaken about the two being gang members, says Nadler. Go grab the AR-15 from the home of a law-abiding citizen fearful that someday this gang trash will gun down his child or other family member. Scratching your nose in public could be the wrong gang sign, a crime punishable by death in Chicago. And Democrats say it’s Republicans who don’t care about the lives of children?

No doubt Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot, who recently had a verbal shoot-out over guns with Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, will blame the shooting of nine-year-old Tyshawn Lee on guns from outside the state but would it matter if where the gun came from if the two accused gang-bangers were red-flagged and not allowed to have it under the GOP amendment?

Much of Chicago’s gun violence stems from gang bangers, particularly those imported from south of the border, and from the steady supply of illegal drugs that are a consequence of open borders. It is called “gun violence” when it is in fact gang violence fueled by drug trafficking. As Katie Pavlich writes at TownHall:

As the violence in Chicago’s gang plagued neighborhoods rages on, the underlying cause of the Windy City’s murder rampages can be found thousands of miles away along a porous border. According to a report from Breitbart’s Jeremy Segal, Mexican drug cartels are “allowed” to run Chicago’s streets and young African-American men are killing each other as a result.

Harold “Noonie” Ward, a former high-ranking member of the Gangster Disciples, one of America’s largest street gangs, claims the deadly violence that is plaguing Rahm Emanuel’s “world class city” of Chicago is because Mexican drug cartels are being allowed by “the powers that be” to operate freely and “run” Chicago’s streets.

In an interview with Breitbart News outside of his childhood home, a now-condemned apartment in Altgeld Gardens, one of Chicago’s most well known housing projects, Ward explained that there are a number of issues leading to the bloodshed in the city. The greatest reason, Ward says, is drugs and how they are being brought into the city.“Where the drugs are coming from is Mexican cartels,” Ward said. “From Mexico to Chicago, they make $3.5 billion dollars a year. And the majority of violence in Chicago, comes from the Mexican cartels.”

The police know who these gang-bangers are. Will Democrats want to apply red flag laws to them?

‘HELL NO, YOU’RE NOT!’: Mom Rips Beto To His Face Over Gun Confiscation Plan

Lauren Boebert, owner of Shooters Grill, blasted Democrat presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke to his face on Thursday over his extreme plan to confiscate semi-automatic firearms, telling him: "Hell no, you’re not!"
“Gun-owning Americans who heard your speech and heard what you had to say regarding ‘Hell yes, we’re going to take your AR-15s and AK-47s’ — Well, I am here to say, ‘Hell no, you’re not,’” Boebert, who has several children, told O’Rourke.
