LIMBAUGH: Boy, Have The Democrats Ever Overplayed Their Hand!

If cosmic justice were to prevail, Democrats would drop their impeachment sham in confessed disgrace and move to give President Donald Trump a second term by acclamation for having ceaselessly abused their power in trying to nullify his first term.

Though cosmic justice won’t prevail, the Constitution will, including its prescribed Senate check on impeachment and its provision for election of presidents through the Electoral College.

The Democrats have given new meaning to the term “overplaying your hand,” and their witch hunt will continue to backfire. They will fail to remove Trump from office and, through their egregious overreach, will have probably ensured his re-election.

Given the timely release of the inspector general’s report on the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act abuses, their bogus impeachment crusade has been further exposed as an appalling partisan travesty.

It cannot be repeated too often that the thrust of the Democrats’ complaint against Trump is that he is a walking high crime and misdemeanor. They consider him so heinous that they needn’t produce evidence of actual treason, bribery or other “high crimes.” They’ve been trying to unseat him from the moment he was sworn in, and they’re still trying, despite the failure of their previous efforts. Democrats talked of impeachment before he took office, and Democratic Reps. Al Green, Brad Sherman and Steve Cohen initiated a formal impeachment effort the first year of Trump’s presidency.

These shysters have wanted to impeach him over his tweets, the Emoluments Clause, his tax returns, collusion with Russia to interfere with the election, obstruction of justice, quid pro quo, extortion, bribery and obstruction of Congress. They wasted weeks in formal impeachment proceedings, first in an underground Star Chamber in the House and then out in the open before the House Intelligence Committee. In those proceedings, the Democratic accusers paraded hearsay witness after hearsay witness to show that Trump had engaged in bribery in a phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. In raising the Ukraine issue, they didn’t even bother to prove Trump’s intent; they unilaterally declared that it was to cripple his likely 2020 Democratic presidential rival Joe Biden, when in fact, it was more likely about Trump’s desire for past Democratic corruption to be investigated.

But after putting half the country asleep in trying to make a painstaking case for “bribery” and enraging the other half, they came up with nothing, and so they told the country, in essence: “Never mind. Don’t hold us to our monthslong charade alleging bribery. Just like all the other times when we were caught bearing false witness against this duly elected president, we’re just going to find different words. But this time, we’re going to use ones that you can’t say are too narrow (‘abuse of power’)” — because they are meaninglessly vague.

Impeachment is a gravely serious remedy that the framers intended to be used sparingly and only when there was such a threat to the republic that a bipartisan effort would ensue. Here the Democrats don’t even have a legitimate, non-serious basis; they have highly contested thirdhand evidence, and they have no bipartisan support. If their impeachment grounds were genuine, they wouldn’t have changed them like fashion models change clothes.

Though they’ve been trying to impeach Trump for years now, his alleged actions hadn’t even taken place when they began their efforts. House Leader Nancy Pelosi recently admitted that impeachment had been a Democratic project for 22 months — well before the notorious phone call with Zelensky.

Consider the richness of the Democrats’ lusting for Trump’s ouster over his alleged interference with an election when they have been trying to interfere with the 2016 election (and now the 2020 election) for three years. It would be outrageous enough if they had just endlessly mounted false charges against Trump via the impeachment process. But their political apparatus — the Democratic National Committee and the Hillary Clinton campaign — coordinated with foreign actors and abominable, partisan crooks at the FBI to frame President Trump for conspiring with Russia. Can you even imagine what hell there would be to pay if Trump and the Republican National Committee had been accused of doing what these Democrats actually and undeniably did?

Moreover, Rep. Adam Schiff, his corrupt colleagues and their media co-conspirators ridiculed and demonized Rep. Devin Nunes for exposing this corruption. Schiff filed a report to refute Nunes’ report, and they’ve been calling Nunes a liar and a kook ever since. But whatever games people want to play about Inspector General Michael Horowitz’s disclaimer that he found no documentary or testimonial evidence of political bias (despite the plethora of emails and other real evidence of bias at the FBI), no sane person can deny that the IG report vindicates Nunes and exposes the sanctimonious Schiff as an unconscionable liar. Yet Schiff has quarterbacked this entire Democratic impeachment farce.

Horowitz’s disclaimer as to discovery of bias is not only misleading because we know of undeniable anti-Trump bias at the highest levels of the FBI. It is also misleading because we are talking about matters far worse than bias. This was abject corruption. An FBI agent doctored evidence; the FBI tricked Trump into an interview disguised as a briefing; and high-ranking FBI personnel deliberately defrauded the FISA Court multiple times to incriminate a sitting president. This is stuff right out of a Robert Ludlum novel, and these Gestapo felons must be held to account.

One supposes that given the breadth and depth of their own corruption going to the very democratic processes they pretend to adore, the Democrats will keep ratcheting up the volume on their false claims against Trump, hoping, as usual, to dupe the voting public into restoring them to power in 2020.

But as I said, they’ve overplayed their hand. If justice prevails, they will rue the day they went down this sinister road, and Trump not only will not be removed; he will be reelected, and the Republicans will regain their majority in both houses of Congress.

Our Journalists Are Not As Bad As In ‘Richard Jewell’ – They’re Much Worse

Clint Eastwood’s new movie “Richard Jewell” tells the true story of a heroic security guard wrongly accused of a 1996 bombing by the FBI and wrongly convicted by an out-of-control news media.

When left-wing critics previewed the movie, they were appalled.

“‘Richard Jewell’ is the Movie America Doesn’t Need Right Now,” was the headline on the review by Will Bunch in the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Bunch wrote: “At some point during those two hours in the dark – maybe the attack on the FBI as a rogue outfit using trickery to frame innocent people, or the depiction of journalists as amoral enemies of the people, or the swelling agitprop of applause lines about common folks under attack from our two most powerful forces – the United States government and the media – that I’d began to wonder if I’d made a wrong turn. Was I really in a Philadelphia multiplex, or had I wound up at President Trump’s lie-larded Hershey rally taking place at exactly the same time?

Likewise, left-wing outlet The Daily Beast said Eastwood’s movie “channels Trump talking points.”

But here’s my question. Since Trump is never mentioned in the movie, and since the movie only dramatizes a completely true story, what made these critics think of Donald Trump when they saw a man being unfairly abused by the FBI and the press? What on earth, pray tell, brought President the Donald into their squeaky clean minds?

Of course, we know the answer. As much as they deny it, distort it, and lie about it, the Department of Justice Inspector General report on the FBI’s investigation into Trump’s non-existent collusion with Russia absolutely destroys the work and credibility of Obama’s FBI leadership and the news media that reported on it. It’s the “Richard Jewell” story on steroids, and if the press didn’t know it, they wouldn’t protest so much.

Despite what virtually every left-wing commentator has said, the IG report is not a “Rorschach Test” that can be read two ways. It crucifies James Comey’s FBI – and not like Jesus was crucified, but like the thieves beside him who were “condemned justly.” The feds lied. They cheated. They wrongly spied on Americans. They wrongly spied on an opposition presidential campaign. And while IG Michael Horowitz makes plain it wasn’t his job to question their motives in doing so – and while he allows they had the “quantum” of justification required to open the investigation – he specifically comments on the low standards of that requirement, and then goes on to outline behavior so bad, he himself won’t try to explain the reasons behind it.

And in showing the FBI misused its mighty power, the report also underscores the dreadful, immoral, and dishonest behavior of the news media. The two and a half years of breathless Russia collusion reporting based on anonymous leaks from spies trying to cover their butts was, like the reporting on Richard Jewell, an unforgiveable disservice to the American people. No wonder “journalists” don’t want to see Eastwood’s movie. They are so steeped in ideological corruption, they can’t stand the sight of themselves.

Put Donald Trump aside for a moment, if that’s possible. Consider only this. George Stephanopoulos worked for Bill Clinton during the 1992 election. Part of his job was silencing and discrediting women who accused Clinton of rape and sexual abuse. You can see him in action in the documentary “War Room.” Stephanopoulos is now the chief newsman at ABC News. A whistleblower recently released video showing that ABC News spiked the story about Clinton friend and child rapist Jeffrey Epstein during Hillary Clinton’s campaign. When the video went public through Project Veritas, ABC started a hunt – not for the evildoer who spiked the story – but for the whistleblower! CBS helped ABC by firing a woman they wrongly thought guilty. And, of course, over at NBC, they did everything they could to kill the investigation into Clinton supporter and accused rapist Harvey Weinstein.

Our journalists cover up for probable rapists in order to protect powerful Democrats. Let me repeat that: our mainstream journalists cover up for probable rapists in order to protect powerful Democrats – and then they cover up the cover up.

That’s who they are. That’s what they do.

If I were they, I couldn’t look in the mirror either.

National Guard Responds To Virginia Congressman Who Proposed Using It To Enforce Gun Control

The Virginia National Guard has now responded after a Democratic congressman from the state suggested the governor could use them to enforce new gun-control measures.

Maj. Gen. Timothy P. Williams, the Adjutant General of Virginia, on Friday responded to Rep. A. Donald McEachin (D-VA), who said last week that Gov. Ralph Northam (D-VA) might have to call in the National Guard if counties in the Old Dominion refuse to uphold any new gun-control legislation.

“We have received multiple questions regarding proposed legislation for the 2020 General Assembly session and the authority of the Governor of Virginia to employ the Virginia National Guard in a law enforcement role,” Williams said in a statement posted to the official Virginia National Guard Twitter account.

“We understand and respect the passion people feel for the U.S. Constitution and 2nd Amendment rights. We will not speculate about the possible use of the Virginia National Guard,” he continued.

Later in his statement, Williams encouraged people to “be patient” while legislators work and said the National Guard had not received any requests from Northam. Williams also warned personnel not to “engage in any political activity while in a uniformed status,” but said they could share their opinions with elected officials.

After Northam proposed additional gun-control measures in Virginia, more than 70 counties passed resolutions declaring themselves Second Amendment Sanctuaries. Northam then offered a “grandfather clause” to his proposal, suggesting that current owners of modern sporting rifles (referred to by gun-control activists as “assault weapons”) would be able to keep their weapons. That didn’t stop more than a dozen additional counties from becoming Sanctuaries.

Northam on Tuesday responded to the counties with a veiled threat of “consequences” for counties that don’t follow the laws he proposed.

“If we have constitutional laws on the books and law enforcement officers are not enforcing those laws on the books, then there are going to be consequences, but I’ll cross that bridge if and when we get to it,” Northam told a reporter after saying there wouldn’t be an “retaliation” against the counties.

McEachin went a step further later in the week, suggesting the counties could lose state funding if they don’t go ahead with the governor’s gun confiscation demands.

“They certainly risk funding, because if the sheriff’s department is not going to enforce the law, they’re going to lose money. The counties’ attorney’s offices are not going to have the money to prosecute because their prosecutions are going to go down,” McEachin said.

He then made a comment about calling in the national guard:

And ultimately, I’m not the governor, but the governor may have to nationalize the National Guard to enforce the law. That’s his call, because I don’t know how serious these counties are and how severe the violations of law will be. But that’s obviously an option he has.

Northam has declared his proposals to take people’s guns away as Constitutional, claiming he is not confiscating weapons. Virginia gun owners aren’t buying it, and Northam can’t make that determination. His proposals, if passed into law, will certainly be challenged, and a court will decide their constitutionality.

Clint Eastwood’s Richard Jewell is a masterpiece

Richard Jewell, the film, is a perfect analogy for what the FBI and DOJ have done to President Trump, Michael Flynn, Carter Page, George Papadopoulos and the American people.

Clint Eastwood’s new film is the true story of how the FBI destroyed the lives of Richard Jewell and his mother after the 1996 bombing at Centennial Park in Atlanta during the summer Olympics.  Jewell was a security guard at the park who noticed an unattended backpack under a bench.  He alerted other police on the scene who determined it was indeed a bomb.  Jewell and the other police immediately began moving people away from the scene.  The bomb did explode; two people were killed and many were injured but Jewell’s actions saved many lives.

For a few days he was a hero but then the FBI began to focus on Jewell as the perpetrator because he “fit the profile.”  He lived with his mother, wanted to be a policeman, and had lost several security jobs for various reasons, including once for impersonating a police officer.  That is all they had, all they needed; not a shred of real evidence beyond their conviction that he must be guilty because he fit the profile.

And based on the FBI’s certainty that he was guilty, an inelegant leak to an Atlanta Journal-Constitution reporter, the media mob ran with the story in the cruelest of ways.   There is a scene in the film in which a room full of reporters at the AJC are laughing and applauding three days after the bombing because they were the paper to first print the news that the FBI was focusing on Jewell.   If this scene is an accurate representation, then journalists are even more cold-blooded than previously known.  It appears they can easily revel in a tragedy if they are first to report it.

It is a heart-wrenching film on every level. It is also a perfect analogy for what our current federal law enforcement agencies have done to President Trump, Michael Flynn, Carter Page, George Papadopoulos, and numerous others if they were in any way useful for their desired ends.  The FBI agents in the film skirt the law over and over again in their zeal to indict Jewell.  They lie, trick, bug his home without a warrant, invade his apartment and nearly strip it bare.  They attempt to entrap him over and over again.

Watching the film, it is impossible not to think that this is exactly what the FBI under Obama did to Flynn, Page, et. al.  The only difference is that the agents in the film torture Jewell because they mistakenly concluded that he must be guilty even though they had no evidence; no trace evidence; nothing connected Jewell to the crime.  The FBI agents who persecuted Flynn, Page and Papadopoulos knew up front that none of them were guilty of anything.  They were just pawns in the plot to frame candidate Trump in order to ensure that Hillary won.  What they did was not only despicable, it was blatantly unconstitutional.

Once Robert Mueller was appointed Special Counsel, they doubled-down on their evil plan.  The IG report has confirmed what millions of us have known for at least two years, that the Steele dossier was a ridiculous hoax from the outset, a collection on nonsense paid for by Hillary Clinton.

All those craven television journalists who swore it had been confirmed and corroborated  owe their viewers a thousand apologies.  It is quite likely that none of them asserting its truthfulness had bothered to read it.  If they had, one would assume even they would have realized it was just “bar talk” as the IG report relates what the sub-source called it.  Our media have learned nothing since the Olympic bombing fiasco; not one thing.

The villains in the film, aside from the actual bomber who was caught six years later, are the FBI and the media.  The parallels to what we have seen over the last three years from the senior leadership of the FBI under Comey, McCabe and their willing flunkies and the Obama DOJ Holder, Lynch and Rosenstein has certainly not been lost on Clint Eastwood.  They are obvious and undeniable.  Our premier law enforcement and intelligence agencies, including Brennan’s CIA, ceased to be about our First and Fourth Amendment rights long ago, let alone national security.  They became, at the top, imperious; they came to see themselves as above the law.

Lately, all these not-witnesses the Democrats have paraded in front of their silly impeachment committees are feigning allegiance to  the Constitution when we all know they hate the limitations it places on them.  If what the FBI did to Richard Jewell as depicted in the film is true, it would seem that the FBI gave up abiding by the constraints of the Constitution long ago.

As we now know from the Horowitz report, those involved in the Russia and Ukraine hoaxes were completely untethered to any legal constraints at all.  They knew from the outset that the Steele dossier was phonied-up nonsense but they ran with it.  That is how stupid they all assume we deplorables are.  We are so dumb, in their minds, that there is no need to obey the law, to be honest or fair.  They have long been confident that they will never be caught or punished for their lies and crimes.  We know that many of the perpetrators of the Russia hoax still have their jobs.  If they have not aged out, the agents that framed Richard Jewell are probably still on the job or getting their pensions.

If there is a sentient person on the planet that does not know the mainstream media is not only corrupt but that it has nothing whatever to do with news reporting, he or she must live in a cave.  The only real journalists are not on CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS (except for Catherine Herridge) or NBC.  If there is even one at the NYT or WaPo, it would be good to know.  The real journalists are well outside of the mainstream:  John Solomon, Andrew McCarthy (no relation), Sara Carter, Eric Felten, Lee Smith, Gregg Jarrett, Dan Bongino, Jeff Carlson, and everyone at the Federalist.  There are many more, all available online.  These are the people who have done the heavy lifting and informed the public.  What is astonishing is the fact that the mainstream network and print people ignore what all these actual journalists report.  They assume that because they are not a member of their elite club, they are illegitimate.  Chuck Todd, for example, is oblivious to the fact that Ukraine meddled in the 2016 election for Hillary!

These folks don’t know half of what those of us who pay attention to all those people who are real investigative reporters know.  Our oh-so-self-important media elites are willfully ignorant.  Just like the FBI agents that railroaded Richard Jewell, the mainstream media has developed a narrative and they are sticking to it, no matter how seriously the actual facts undermine and discredit it.

Eastwood’s film is a masterpiece.  He has exposed the perfidy of the FBI and the media in 1996 and at the same time shown us that the culture of the higher-ups at the FBI had not changed one bit when they decided to stage a coup against a presidential candidate they did not like. Once Trump won, they doubled-down on their betrayal of the American people and the Constitution.  Do not for one minute take seriously their sudden respect for our founding document.  A truth Dennis Prager often proclaims, “The left is the enemy of America.”  The FBI under Comey, the DOJ under Obama and the mainstream print and digital media are the public face of that enemy.  Do not miss this film.  Paul Walter Hauser as Jewell deserves an Oscar for his very fine performance.

Why isn’t Brennan or anyone else already behind bars?

Department of Justice Inspector General Michael Horowitz’s report contains so much to be outraged by that it’s hard to sustain the energy. And it goes way beyond his mind-numbing catalogue of FBI abuses.

To take just one example, as Tucker Carlson pointed out, Horowitz’s report verifies that Obama’s CIA director John Brennan outright lied when he testified that the Steele dossier played no role in the January 2017 Intelligence Community Assessment. Brennan’s perjury here has been public knowledge for a long time now. Paul Sperry reported on it way back in February 2018.

But now Brennan’s lie under oath before Congress is officially documented in the IG report. Why isn’t the DoJ finally going after Brennan for it? What possible reason could there be to wait for Prosecutor John Durham to finish his investigation into the FBI’s Russia probe before nailing Brennan about his lie to Congress?

The 2017 ICA is the evidentiary basis for the whole garbage “Russians hacked the DNC” narrative. Hillary Clinton constantly regurgitates the lie that the ICA was the product of all 17 US intelligence agencies so she can delegitimize both Trump’s presidency and the massive volume of appalling information about her character and competence WikiLeaks released. But in the real world outside her decrepit odious deceiving mind, the ICA was produced by a bunch of analysts Brennan chose specifically for the task.

So, Brennan’s perjury when he falsely testified that the ICA wasn’t based on opposition research paid for by the wretched woman’s own campaign is a very big deal. But Roger Stone is going to jail for lying about stuff that literally had no relevance to the investigation for which he was testifying? That’s just one of an unbelievably large array of serious crimes that nothing is being done about. The GOP appears to be content to yell “In your face, Comey!” while the DoJ does nothing.

If you tried to sit down and list all of it the open-and-shut serious crimes that we’re waiting for Durham’s investigation to finish before the DoJ gets off its duff and does something about them you’d go mad from despair and frustration. Mueller didn’t wait till he was all finished before destroying Paul Manafort’s and Roger Stone’s lives for crimes that were all either trivial or had absolutely no bearing on the matters he was investigating. He came down on them as hard as possible as soon as he could. He even conducted a pre-dawn paramilitary raid to arrest 67-year-old Stone at which CNN just happened to be present in advance with cameras ready to roll.

Yet Brennan is getting paid by CNN to spread more lies, discord, and sedition because for some reason we have to wait for Durham to come down from the mountain before the DoJ will start prosecuting even one of the many clear cases involving monumental and outrageous abuses of power. When Durham’s report comes out, Brennan and the rest ought to be in already in prison and merely learning how much more time they are likely to face.

Maybe when Durham’s denouement to this sickening saga of relentless government lawlessness comes it will be spectacular and totally worth the wait. But it’s hard not to believe it’s going to be any less of an obscene disappointment than everything else we’ve seen so far.

Fashion Notes: Melania Trump is An Angel in Reem Acra Gown for White House Christmas

First Lady Melania Trump was an angel in the White House as she and President Trump welcomed guests to one of their many Christmas parties this holiday season.

Melania Trump greeted guests at the Grand Foyer of the White House this week for the Congressional Ball wearing an angelic crystal-embellished silk crepe cape gown by Reem Acra. The gown is now sold out but once retailed for more than $8,000.

Mrs. Trump paired the gown with silver metallic pointed toe stilettos which she previously wore for a black-tie dinner in Tokyo, Japan during her trip to the island nation this past summer.

Caped, embroidered gowns have become somewhat of a signature for Mrs. Trump, as she and her style adviser Hervé Pierre are drawn to the old Hollywood glamour of drapery and glitter. For example, Mrs. Trump has worn a caped gown in England, for a dinner at the U.S. Embassy in London, and at a dinner this year in Tokyo.

In a less formal, more high fashion moment weeks ago, Mrs. Trump wore a bright yellow Valentino cape straight off the Milan, Italy runway for a reception with Queen Elizabeth II in London.

EXCLUSIVE VIDEO: ‘This is What Democracy Looks Like’ – Mob Clashes with Police over Losing Election

Chaos erupted on the streets of London last night, as socialist anti-Brexit protestors violently clashed with police, chanting slogans like “not my prime minister” and “one solution, revolution”.

Socialists, Antifa, and anti-Brexiteers took to the streets to show their disapproval of the British people’s democratic will while chanting “this is what democracy looks like”, following Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s landslide election victory over the far-left Labour Party leader, Jeremy Corbyn.

One woman told Breitbart London: “Fuck Boris, fuck racism, fuck homophobia, fuck all you pigs”.

“[Boris Johnson] is a pig and I’m so ashamed that he’s the prime minister of my country, it’s disgusting and I wish him the worst, I wish him a horrible death”, said another woman.

“To see working-class people care about Boris Johnson, they’re shooting themselves in the face, it’s disgusting and yeah I wish him the worst. Go fuck yourself Boris Johnson, honestly, what a cunt”, she added.

Holding placards with Socialist Worker slogans like “Defy Tory Rule” and “Open the Borders, No Deportations”, hundreds of protestors outside Number 10 Downing Street broke through barricades, blocking traffic and violently clashing with police.

At least two protestors were arrested during last night’s protest, one for assaulting a police officer and another for brawling, the Telegraph reports.

In Breitbart London’s exclusive video, London’s Metropolitan Police are seen using their batons and throwing protestors to the ground as the left-wing mob descended upon them.

At one point, someone can be heard possibly goading the protesters, yelling “You’re not in sociology class anymore” as they jostle with police.

The protest in London was accompanied by a similar protest in Glasgow, Scottland, on the same evening.

In a speech given after his stunning electoral defeat over the 70-year-old socialist, Jeremy Corby, Prime Minister Johnson called for unity.

“To those who did not vote for us, or for me, and who wanted and perhaps still want to remain in the EU… I want you to know that we in this One Nation Conservative government will never ignore your good and positive feelings of warmth and sympathy towards the other nations on Europe,”, said Johnson.

“I frankly urge everyone one either side of [an] increasingly arid argument, I urge everyone to find closure and to let the healing begin,” he added.

Speaking in May, Brexit Party leader Nigel Farage warned against the increasing violence of the left after getting “milkshaked“.

“For a civilised democracy to work you need the losers’ consent,” he said. “Politicians not accepting the referendum result have led to this.”

“Physical assault is now considered acceptable — they have a view, they are right… they feel entitled to behave like this. Something has gone very badly wrong”, Farage said.

Bozell & Graham Column: Devin Nunes, Mocked for Being Right

A few weeks back on Life, Liberty & Levin, Rep. Devin Nunes boasted about his memo on FISA abuse: “And what we really find out now? Everything that we said at that time was 100 percent accurate. Everything that the Democrats and the media said at the time: 100 percent inaccurate.” The IG report backs up the Nunes version of events, and confirms the Adam Schiff/media rebuttal is mostly false.

Ten Disturbing Findings in the Justice Department Inspector General Report

The Justice Department inspector general report released on Monday shed light on some disturbing findings with how the FBI handled the investigation and surveillance of the Trump campaign.

Most disturbing was that the report proved that the FBI used uncorroborated allegations in the infamous “pee dossier” to convince a court to grant it an intrusive surveillance warrant on a former campaign aide, which gave the FBI insight into the Trump campaign.

However, the report also exposed a number of other disturbing findings, some related to the obtaining of the initial and subsequent surveillance warrants, and some related to its use of confidential human sources, and other practices.

Here are ten of the most disturbing findings in the report:

  1. The FBI’s Counterintelligence Division (CD) Assistant Director (AD) E.W. “Bill” Priestap considered whether the FBI should conduct defensive briefings for the Trump campaign to warn them of Russian interference in the 2016 election but “ultimately decided that providing such briefings created the risk that ‘if someone on the campaign was engaged with the Russians, he/she would seek to cover-up his/her activities, thereby preventing us from finding the truth.’”
  2. The FBI’s Crossfire Hurricane team tasked to investigate the Trump campaign sought help from a foreign intelligence agency to surveil Trump campaign members. “The Crossfire Hurricane team submitted name trace requests to other U.S. government agencies and a foreign intelligence agency, and conducted law enforcement database and open source searches, to identify individuals associated with the Trump campaign in a position to have received the alleged offer of assistance from Russia.”
  3. DOJ and FBI policy did not require the FBI to consult with any DOJ official before using confidential human sources — or spies — involving advisers to a major party candidate’s presidential campaign, and the FBI did not do so. “Consultation, at a minimum, is required by Department and FBI policies in numerous other sensitive circumstances.”
  4. The FBI wanted a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrant on former Trump campaign member Carter Page in August 2016, but the FBI’s Office of General Counsel (OGC) and its National Security Division’s Office of Intelligence (OI) determined more information was needed to support probable cause that Page was an agent of a foreign power. Only after the use of the “pee dossier” were they successful.”Immediately after the Crossfire Hurricane team received Steele’s election reporting on September 19, the team reinitiated their discussions with OI and their efforts to obtain FISA surveillance authority for Page, which they received from the FISC on October 21. … We determined that the Crossfire Hurricane team’s receipt of Steele’s election reporting on September 19, 2016 played a central and essential role in the FBI’s and Department’s decision to seek the FISA order.”
  5. The Crossfire Hurricane team failed to inform department officials of significant information that was available to the team at the time that the FISA applications on Page were drafted and filed. “Much of that information was inconsistent with, or undercut, the assertions contained in the FISA applications that were used to support probable cause and, in some instances, resulted in inaccurate information being included in the applications.”
  6. The FBI made false assertions on their FISA applications. FBI agents “did not question Steele about his role in a September 23, 2016 Yahoo News article entitled, ‘U.S. intel officials probe ties between Trump advisor and Kremlin,’ that described efforts by U.S. intelligence to determine whether Carter Page had opened communication channels with Kremlin officials.” However, the FBI asserted in the Page FISA applications, without any support, that Steele had not “directly provided” the information to Yahoo News.
  7. FBI leadership supported relying on Steele’s reporting to seek a FISA order on Page even after being advised it was political dirt paid for by the Clinton campaign and there could be blowback: “FBI leadership supported relying on Steele’s reporting to seek a FISA order on Page after being advised of, and giving consideration to, concerns expressed by Stuart Evans, then NSD’s Deputy Assistant Attorney General with oversight responsibility over OI, that Steele may have been hired by someone associated with presidential candidate Clinton or the DNC, and that the foreign intelligence to be collected through the FISA order would probably not be worth the ‘risk’ of being criticized later for collecting communications of someone (Carter Page) who was ‘politically sensitive.’”
  8. FBI personnel fell “far short” of a requirement to ensure that “all factual statements” in the FISA application were “scrupulously accurate.” “Our review found that FBI personnel fell far short of the requirement in FBI policy that they ensure that all factual statements in a FISA application are ‘scrupulously accurate.’ We identified multiple instances in which factual assertions relied upon in the first FISA application were inaccurate, incomplete, or unsupported by appropriate documentation, based upon information the FBI had in its possession at the time the application was filed.”
  9. The FBI knowingly continued seeking information from Steele even after he was fired as a source — 13 times. “The FBI closed him as a CHS for cause in November 2016. However, as we describe below, despite having been closed for cause, the Crossfire Hurricane team continued to obtain information from Steele through Ohr, who met with the FBI on 13 occasions to pass along information he had been provided by Steele.”
  10. The FBI sent an investigative agent to a Trump campaign briefing specifically because it knew Michael Flynn would be there, and it had deemed him a subject of an investigation — in other words, the FBI used a campaign briefing to spy on Flynn.”In August 2016, the supervisor of the Crossfire Hurricane investigation, SSA 1, participated on behalf of the FBI in a strategic intelligence briefing given by Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) to candidate Trump and his national security advisors, including Michael Flynn, and in a separate strategic intelligence briefing given to candidate Clinton and her national security advisors. The stated purpose of the FBI portion of the briefing was to provide the recipients ‘a baseline on the presence and threat posed by foreign intelligence services to the National Security of the U.S.’ However, we found that SSA 1 was selected to provide the FBI briefings, in part, because Flynn, who was a subject in the ongoing Crossfire Hurricane investigation, would be attending the Trump campaign briefing.”
