Louie Gohmert: IG Michael Horowitz ‘Is a Cover-up Artist’

Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz is a “cover-up artist,” said Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) during a Monday interview on SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Tonight with hosts Rebecca Mansour and Joel Pollak.

“As we’ve seen from the Democrats that hated Donald Trump and loved Hillary Clinton that worked at the FBI, DOJ, and [intelligence agencies], they have got a whole lot of explaining to do, and not from the Horowitz report,” Gohmert remarked.

“Horowitz is a cover-up artist,” determined Gohmert. “He’s shown that in each report he’s done. He’ll show violations of things, and then he’ll make sure that his friends — the Democrats who put him in office [as] IG during the Obama years — that they’re protected.”

LISTEN:

Gohmert added, “I was so grateful that [John Durham] came out and strongly disagreed with Horowitz’s assessment that nobody did anything really wrong, because they did, and I hope there’s going to be some justice finally coming around there.”

Pollak said, “I was thinking that Republicans ought to make the point this way, that [Democrats] are accusing Trump of using … a legitimate [presidential] power that he has to talk to foreign dignitaries to investigate a political opponent. Now, I don’t think that happened, but in the [House] Intelligence Committee, what they actually did was use a legitimate power of subpoena to go after their political opponents.”

“I mean, they did what they’re accusing Trump of doing,” continued Pollak. “I’d love someone to make that point and say, ‘Hey, you guys just did it.’ You might say the subpoena was legitimate, but everything else after that was just partisan political advantage.”

Gohmert agreed, “It was, and the thing is, Democrats are so good about committing offenses, criminal acts, wrongdoings, something immoral, and then turning right around and accusing somebody innocent of doing exactly what they did, and that’s exactly what they’ve done with Trump on [these] bribery or quid pro quo [accusations].”

At a 2018 Council of Foreign Relations event, Joe Biden said he leveraged a billion dollars of U.S. aid to Ukraine to force the Ukrainian government to fire a prosecutor investigating Burisma, the Ukrainian energy company his youngest son, Hunter Biden, worked for.

Gohmert recalled, “You’ve got Joe Biden on tape admitting that he held up a billion dollars if they didn’t fire the prosecutor who happened to be investigating the company his son was getting over a million bucks from. So it’s pretty clear.”

Gohmert concluded, “We have slam dunk evidence that [Joe Biden] did exactly what [Democrats] are wrongly accusing Trump of doing. Trump didn’t do it, but boy, Biden sure did.

Bernie Sanders Earns Massive Endorsement from Progressive Coalition

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) this week earned the endorsement of the Center for Popular Democracy Action, a coalition comprised of dozens of progressive groups, marking its first official presidential endorsement.

The coalition, which boasts of roughly 600,000 members and over 40 progressive groups, announced its official endorsement on Tuesday. Sanders edged out Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and Julián Castro (D), both of whom were under consideration in November, with an overwhelming majority.

CPD Action narrowed the candidate field to Sanders or Warren, and Vermont’s socialist senator ultimately secured the endorsement with 75 percent of the vote:

CPD Action’s co-executive director Jennifer Epps-Addison said:

Bernie Sanders is the powerful movement candidate we need to defeat Donald Trump. From ending mass incarceration and deportations to the $15 minimum wage and Medicare for All, Sanders is working hand-in-hand with our communities to champion the policies that we need to thrive.

Co-executive director Ana Maria Archilla added the group considers Sanders “a champion for people who have been historically forced to the margins.”

The dignity and safety of immigrant communities, communities of color and working-class people are on the ballot in 2020. In endorsing Senator Bernie Sanders, our network has chosen a champion for people who have been historically forced to the margins.

The massive endorsement signals that Sanders post-heart attack comeback is more than just hype.

“What Bernie Sanders has built — it is not arguable,” Epps-Addison said, according to the New York Times. “It’s an exciting and different energy than we’ve seen in the Democratic base.”

$1.3 Billion in Unreported Foreign Donations to U.S. Universities

A U.S. Education Department investigation has initially revealed $1.3 billion in unreported donations to U.S. universities from foreign countries such as China, Russia, and Qatar.

The department says the unreported foreign funds discovered thus far are only a small portion of the donations from foreign countries that are pouring into U.S. campuses.

“We’re going to continue to raise the flag on this, and we think, just given what we’ve seen scratching the surface, there’s a lot there that has gone undetected,” said Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, according to a report at the Washington Examiner.

“We’re raising this issue and letting schools know that we’re going to be paying attention in ways that hasn’t happened before,” DeVos added, citing a national security issue.

The investigation came after Sens. Rob Portman (R-OH) and Tom Carper (D-DE), chairman and ranking member, respectively, of the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, released in February an initial bipartisan report that pointedly sounded a warning about the influence of foreign funds and the Chinese government throughout U.S. K-12 classrooms and on up to university campuses.

“[T]he Department of Education does not conduct regular oversight of U.S. schools’ compliance with required foreign gift reporting,” the report noted, and ultimately led the U.S. Education Department to remind universities of the requirement to report foreign funding.

The Senate subcommittee’s final report, released in November, specifically observed the role of China’s Thousand Talents Plan (TTP), a talent recruitment program that was launched in 2008 and is operated by the Chinese Communist Party.

“The TTP targets U.S.-based researchers and scientists, regardless of ethnicity or citizenship, who focus on or have access to cutting-edge research and technology,” the report noted. “In response to U.S. government scrutiny, China has attempted to delete online references to its talent recruitment plans and reportedly instructed Chinese institutions on how to avoid additional U.S. scrutiny.”

The education department’s investigations began in June with probes into foreign funding at Georgetown and Texas A&M, reported the Associated Press. At that time, letters were sent to the schools, accusing them of unreported “gifts and contracts tied to their branch campuses in Qatar,” the report noted and added:

Federal law requires colleges to report gifts or contracts with any foreign source amounting to $250,000 or more in a year. Some lawmakers say the Education Department has done too little to enforce the rule.

In September, the watchdog group known as the Clarion Project, reported more than ten billion dollars flowing onto American campuses from foreign countries, even those adversarial to the U.S., since 2012.

Penny Starr at Breitbart News reported in an interview with Ryan Mauro, director of intelligence with the Clarion Project:

Qatar – which, according to the U.S. State Department, has made gains in fighting terrorism but still hosts entities that sponsor and support terrorism – is at the top of the list with a staggering $1.4 billion dollars given to 28 universities, including $350,874,324 to Georgetown and $376,325,840 to Carnegie Mellon University.

“These numbers are hard to fathom, but they are likely only the tip of the iceberg,” Mauro said. “There are two other figures we don’t have: The amount that the schools aren’t disclosing to the Education Department as required and the amount funneled by foreign entities using fronts.”

“For example, the Iranian regime used a front named the Alavi Foundation to funnel money to universities,” Mauro told Breitbart News. “Because that’s a U.S.-based organization, those amounts from Iran are not in the records.”

“Muslim Brotherhood fronts with ties to terrorism, such as the International Institute of Islamic Thought, are also able to donate to universities without the transfers showing up in these Education Department records,” Mauro said.

According to the Examiner, Reed Rubinstein, U.S. Education Department acting general counsel, sent a letter to the Senate subcommittee containing “disturbing facts” in the investigation into Georgetown and Texas A&M and also into Cornell, Rutgers, University of Maryland, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

In particular, Rubinstein observed China’s influence on U.S. campuses.

“One university received research funding from a Chinese multinational conglomerate to develop new algorithms and advance biometric security techniques for crowd surveillance capabilities,” Rubinstein said.

Attorney General Barr: FBI Ignored Exculpatory Evidence, Hid Information to Continue Trump Investigation

During a portion of an interview with NBC’s Pete Williams that aired on Tuesday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “Andrea Mitchell Reports,” Attorney General William Barr said the FBI ignored exculpatory evidence when obtaining FISA warrants in the investigation of any possible the Trump campaign ties with Russia.

Barr said, “From day one — remember, they said, okay, we’re not going to talk to the campaign. We’re going to put people in there, rile them up and have conversations with people involved in the campaign because that way, we’ll get the truth. From the very first day of this investigation, which is July 31st, 2016, all the way to its end, September 2017, there was not one incriminatory bit of evidence to come in. It was all exculpatory. The people with the tapings denied it with Russia, denied the specific facts that the FBI was relying on. So what happens? The FBI ignores it, presses ahead, withholds that information from the court, withholds critical exculpatory information from the court while it gets an electronic surveillance warrant. It also withholds from the court clear cut evidence that the dossier that they ultimately relied on to get the FISA warrant was a complete sham.”

He continued, “They hid information about the lack of the liability, even when they went the first time for the warrant. But in January, after the election, the entire case collapsed when the principal source says I never told this. I never told Steele this stuff. And this was also speculation. And I have zero information to support this stuff. At that point, when their entire case collapsed, what do they do? They kept on investigating the president well into his administration after the case collapsed. But here to me is the damning thing: They not only didn’t tell the court that what they had been relying on was completely, you know, rubbish, they actually started putting in things to bolster this Steele report by saying we talked to the sources and they appeared to be truthful. But they don’t inform the court what they’re truthful about is that the dossier is false. So that’s hard to explain. And the core statement, in my opinion by the IG, is that these irregularities, these misstatements, these omissions were not satisfactorily explained and that leaves open the possibility to infer bad faith.”

Sitting ducks: Why are our soldiers disarmed on our own bases?

After you recover from the shock of learning that Saudi pilots are training with American soldiers on our military bases, you’ll inevitably stumble across another stupefying question. How is it that the Saudi terrorist attacker at the Pensacola Naval Air Station was shot dead by local Pensacola sheriff’s deputies, while not a single sailor – officer or enlisted – had any firearm to defend himself? Well, much as President Trump promised to shut down visas from countries like Saudi Arabia, he also promised to end the gun-free zone status for our soldiers on bases. The time has come for him to fulfill both promises.

Last night, the House and Senate conference committee filed the annual National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for fiscal year 2020, authorizing up to $743.3 billion in defense spending. It includes $71.5 billion in funding for more “overseas contingency operations,” AKA nation-building in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria. But what is the point in funding such escapades if our soldiers can’t even arm themselves on our own bases? Why does Congress never debate the fundamental values, mission, and character of our military? It’s all about dollars and cents and never about policy. Now is the time for Trump to demand that real issues be dealt with in the NDAA, including arming soldiers on bases, or else he should use his authority as commander in chief to change the internal policies.

In the face of mass shootings on military bases, Trump promised emphatically to end the suicidal policies disarming our soldiers. Between terrorist attacks at Chattanooga and Fort Hood and domestic shooters on several other bases, it has become clear that base security only serves to deter good people with guns. As we painfully learned in Pensacola on Friday, the impervious security clearly didn’t stop Mohamad Alshamrani from bringing in a Glock .45.

Speaking at the February 2018 Conservative Political Action Conference, President Trump promised to “look at that whole military base gun-free zone [policy]. If we can’t have our military holding guns, it is pretty bad,” lamented the president as he mocked the gun-free zone policy. “We had a number of instances on military bases. You know that. We want to protect our military.”

In fact, Trump had already promised to get rid of gun-free zones in the military on his “first day” in office during the campaign. “I will get rid of gun-free zones on schools, and — you have to — and on military bases,” said Trump at a rally in Vermont on January 8, 2016. “My first day, it gets signed, okay? My first day. There’s no more gun-free zones.”

But like so many instances where the president has good instincts, the broken military leadership pushed back and conservatives were too distracted to put up a fight, so the White House dropped the idea. These are the same military leaders who knowingly sent our soldiers to die in Afghanistan with no defined mission or plan to win. These are the same generals who work harder at prosecuting our warriors than defeating our enemies. These are the same generals that have pushed social engineering and have expunged Christianity from the military. And they are the same generals Trump said in 2016 have “been reduced to rubble” and “they have been reduced to a point where it’s embarrassing to our country.”

Secretary of Defense Mark Esper had a very tepid response to the Pensacola attacks. He praised the Saudi military training program as indispensable to national security and acts as if he can’t understand why Saudi nationals were filming the shooting. He sure doesn’t seem like the type of leader to push for arming our soldiers at bases.

The ban on carrying weapons dates back to a 1992 Pentagon directive, which can easily be overturned by Trump. In November 2016, Obama’s Department of Defense issued a directive allowing base commanders to give certain troops permission to carry concealed firearms on base “for a personal protection purpose not related to performance of an official duty or status” for a very limited period of time. Imagine that! They can’t carry weapons as part of their official duty as soldiers!

In 2016, five soldiers were killed at a Naval Reserve base in Chattanooga by Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez. In 2013, 12 people were killed and 8 injured at the Washington Navy Yard by a disgruntled former sailor who suffered from mental illness. In 2009, 14 were killed and 30 injured by Nidal Hasan at Fort Hood. In all these cases, it took way too long for either local police or military police to arrive.

While gun-free zones are always a bad idea, as 96.2 percent of all mass shootings have occurred where guns are banned, having them on military bases is particularly counterintuitive. Given the strict security, the perpetrators know with certainty that, of all places, not a single soldier will be carrying a weapon because the penalty for doing so is quite severe. Yet, clearly, that same security hasn’t worked to prevent evil people from bringing in weapons. This policy makes our soldiers sitting ducks.

If these same generals believe in sending our soldiers to fight endless tribal civil wars overseas, the least they can do is allow them to be armed and protected on our own shores. That’s doubly true for the same generals who will advocate the continuation of training Middle Easterners on those very bases. The broken generals can’t have it all ways, and it’s time for Trump to call them on it.

‘Mass Immigration Turned Virginia Blue’ Says Banner Hung Over Bridge Just Outside D.C.

Virginia had long been a red state, then took on a purple hue, and more than a decade ago started to turn blue.

The last time a Republican presidential candidate won the state was George W. Bush in 2004. Barack Obama won in 2008 and 2012, and Hillary Clinton took the state 49.7% to 44.4%.

The biggest change in the state are the counties and cities just outside Washington, D.C. Some counties that had long been red are now blue.

And not everyone’s happy about it.

A group called America First Conservatives dropped a banner from Key Bridge in Arlington, Virginia, that said “MASS IMMIGRATION TURNED VIRGINIA BLUE.”

“The banner was reportedly hung by self-identified ‘America First’ activists, sometimes known as ‘Groypers,’” Summit News reported.

Groypers have been actively protesting against what they term ‘Conservative Inc.’ over the last 6 weeks, establishment conservatives who are accused of naively supporting legal immigration despite the fact that it is ensuring demographic replacement.

The idea of demographic replacement has been labeled by the media as a racist dog whistle for white supremacy, although it’s apparently acceptable for leftists to discuss the idea, so long as they’re in favor of it.

As we highlighted last week, during a recent Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights event, civil rights lawyer and racial justice advocate Judith Browne Dianis, co-director of the George Soros-funded Advancement Project, openly admitted that less white people in America means more power for Democrats.

“When we get to 2042 or 2045, whatever you wanna use, we actually will not be suffering from what other countries like South Africa have which is having the numbers but not having the power,” said Dianis.

“People say that demographics aren’t destiny, well we are trying to make it destiny,” she added.

Deadbeat Dad Hunter Biden Refuses to Pay Baby Mama Lunden Roberts’ $11,000 Legal Bill – And She’s Demanding He Admit How Much Burisma Paid Him!

Lunden Roberts, Hunter Biden

Last week deadbeat dad Hunter Biden blew off a court hearing in Arkansas over his child support payments to his baby mama Lunden Roberts, and his lawyer abruptly quit.

Now Hunter is refusing to pay Lunden Roberts’ $11,000 legal bill so she is turning the screws on Biden and demanding to know how much Burisma Holdings paid him.

Hunter had a child with 28-year-old Lunden Roberts after meeting her at a DC strip joint where she worked as a stripper and she is not being compliant — she is demanding a hefty child support payment!

Last Monday Judge Don McSpadden demanded threes years of Hunter’s tax returns in order for him to reach a decision on child support payments.

Hunter Biden claimed in a sworn statement that he is currently in debt, unemployed with no monthly income.

Lunden Roberts is not letting Hunter get away with his lies and she made her move this week in a new filing with 47 requests!

The Daily Mail reported:

Lunden Roberts, the mother of Hunter Biden’s baby, has demanded that he admit he was employed as a board member for Burisma in the Ukraine and that he was compensated on a monthly basis in new court documents obtained exclusively by Dailymail.com.

The amount of money that Roberts asks Biden confirm is redacted in the seven-page document filed today, but it has been widely reported that the vice president’s son was earning $83,000 a month for his role at the Ukrainian energy company.

Roberts has also asked that Biden admit that he ‘or an entity owned, controlled or under your direction or supervision’ received money from a Chinese person or entity for foreign and domestic investment purposes.

The document contains 47 requests for admission by Biden, most of which are redacted in some way, including six related to his income taxes for the years from 2013 to 2018.

In other documents, obtained by DailyMail.com, Biden has objected to paying for his baby mama’s legal bill.

The 49-year-old filed papers on Monday in Independence County, Arkansas, seeking for a judge to deny Lunden Roberts’ request to have her $11,000 attorney bill footed by Biden.

Hunter Biden was paid millions of dollars sitting on the board of Burisma Holdings and other positions provided by his VP daddy Joe in various pay-to-play schemes — perhaps he shouldn’t have blown all the money on crack and strippers.

Lindsey Graham: Report Shows FBI Ran a ‘Criminal Enterprise’ Against Trump

Leave it to Lindsey Graham.

Democrats and their media supporters have been trying to claim a report released by the Justice Department inspector general on Monday is some kind of vindication for the FBI’s investigation of President Donald Trump and his 2016 presidential campaign.

The South Carolina senator wasn’t buying it for a second.

In fact, Graham took to a news conference shortly after the release of the long-awaited report by Inspector General Michael Horowitz to proclaim pretty much exactly the opposite.

The FBI’s dealings with the special court established by the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act was not merely flawed, Graham said.

TRENDING: Famous Faces Who Passed Away in November 2019

The “significant inaccuracies and omissions” in FBI applications for surveillance warrants from the FISA court amounted to a “criminal enterprise,” he said.

Graham, the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, acknowledged that there could have been a legal justification for the FBI to open its probe into whether the Trump campaign had colluded with the Russian government to win the 2016 election.

But, he argued, the same couldn’t be said for the FBI’s applications to the FISA court to start and maintain surveillance on Trump campaign aide Carter Paige.

“Let’s assume for a moment it started out OK. It sure as hell didn’t end OK,” Graham said.

“I believe there will be no debate among reasonably minded people, particularly lawyers, about how the system got off the rails, but in my view became a criminal enterprise to defraud the FISA court, to deny American citizen Carter Page his constitutional rights, and to continue an operation against President Trump as president of the United States,” he said.

There’s no doubt – no matter how liberals try to spin it – that the Horowitz report documented serious problems with the FBI’s behavior.

As investigative reporter and Fox News contributor John Solomon has documented, the report includes at least 17 major points where the FBI either misrepresented or, more often, omitted information that an objective reader would know were critical to evaluating the FBI’s position.

They included not telling the court that one former British intelligence agent Christopher Steele, who compiled the anti-Trump “dossier” on which the FBI largely depended, was “desperate that Donald Trump not get elected and was passionate about him not being the U.S. President.”

RELATED: Here Are the 17 Worst FBI Findings Straight from the IG Report

Most people would think that was a fairly obvious tipoff that an important figure might have an ulterior motive beyond simply making sure the truth was told.

Liberals responded to Graham’s statement in droves, apparently believing that because the IG’s report claimed to have found no “political bias” in the FBI’s behavior, that was proof sterling that none could exist.

Anyone familiar with this story – with the Mueller saga, with the Lisa Page and Peter Strzok affair, with the FBI’s kid gloves treatment of Hillary Clinton prior to the 2016 election knows that’s nonsense on its face.

And there were some Twitter users who understood that there’s much more to the story to come.

The “significant inaccuracies and omissions” documented in the IG report weren’t trifling matters.

Do you agree with Lindsey Graham?

0% (0 Votes)

0% (0 Votes)

They speak directly to the conscious behavior of the men and women of the FBI who wanted to the FISA court to believe a version of reality that did not comport with all the facts the FBI had at its disposal.

Anyone with even a vague of understanding of the word “honesty” would understand that.

Graham gives the FBI the benefit of the doubt by saying the investigation could have started out properly.

But he’s right that it “sure as hell didn’t end OK.”

And leave it to Lindsey Graham to make that crystal clear.

Searchable Version of IG Report Brings 0 Results for ‘Comey’ Despite 149 Mentions

Searchable Version of IG Report Brings 0 Results for ‘Comey’ Despite 149 Mentions

(Photo by Mark Wilson / Getty Images)

Although a searchable version of the Inspector General’s FISA abuse report contains 149 mentions of James Comey, attempting to look up his name brings zero results.

The bombshell report was released Monday and concerned origins of the Russia probe against President Donald Trump and potential abuse of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act warrant system.

Former FBI Director Comey, a key official during many of the events detailed in the IG report, was such a central figure in the investigation that he makes an appearance an average of once every three pages in the whopping 476-page report.

Although the report found “significant concerns with how certain aspects of the investigation were conducted and supervised, particularly the FBI’s failure to adhere to its own standards of accuracy and completeness” when it came to FISA applications, the agency’s former head counted it as a win.

Shortly after its release, Comey posted on Twitter to smugly celebrate the findings of the report.

TRENDING: Famous Faces Who Passed Away in November 2019

It appears a problem with the document prevented any rapid reporting on what the IG found on Comey, however. Although Comey was able to pen an op-ed soon after the report’s release, journalists writing about what the investigation found about him had to search the massive document page-by-page.

This is because despite his name practically flooding the report, searching “Comey” brings zero results.

Is this an intentional error?

0% (0 Votes)

0% (0 Votes)

All other words and names appear to bring results when searched, including those of Christopher Steele, Andrew McCabe and Donald Trump.

Instead, to find every instance of Comey’s name, those using the DOJ’s searchable version of the report need to look for “Corney.” Once searched, that word highlights each mention of the former FBI director.

The problem is seemingly with the software used to make documents searchable.

As the DOJ outlines in an accessibility handbook, documents must be scanned, uploaded and run through optical character recognition. OCR software is able to take scanned text and add an invisible digital layer, which allows those using a computer to search documents for specific words or names.

The software hits a speedbump when it comes to names and words that would not be in the program’s dictionary.

RELATED: During Comey’s Tenure FBI Agents Were at ‘Increased Risk of Being Put in Harm’s Way,’ According to IG Report

According to the University of Illinois, the software is powerful but not without flaws. Along with clear text, words need to be in a language dictionary recognizable by the OCR program. If the program is unable to find the word, it takes its best guess based on what it sees.

Although a name like Comey is unlikely to be in the program’s standard dictionary, names like Steele, Ohr and McCabe were all recognized by the program and can be searched in the IG report.

Other documents from the DOJ appear to indicate that this is a common problem with Comey’s name. Considering how central of a figure he is, it seems making his name recognizable by OCR programs would be a top priority for those tasked with digitizing records.

Now, unless those searching the documents know the “Corney” trick, tackling the gargantuan document page by grueling page appears to be the only way to find out firsthand what exactly the report found out about James Comey.

Trump Bashes ‘Current’ FBI Director Christopher Wray for IG Report Response

President Donald Trump tweeted his rage with FBI Director Christopher Wray on Tuesday, a day after Wray said the recently released Inspector General’s report on the FBI’s investigation of the Trump campaign in 2016 shows the FBI was justified in launching the probe.

The report by Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz found 17 “significant inaccuracies and omissions” in the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act warrants that approved surveillance, Fox News reported. The report said that it did not find top FBI officials had acted from their political bias against Trump.

“I don’t know what report current Director of the FBI Christopher Wray was reading, but it sure wasn’t the one given to me. With that kind of attitude, he will never be able to fix the FBI, which is badly broken despite having some of the greatest men & women working there!” Trump tweeted.

TRENDING: Famous Faces Who Passed Away in November 2019

Trump also sent a tweet with quotes attributed to Fox News host Brit Hume, who offered his take on the report Monday.

“‘You have to look at the 17 instances of misconduct cited in the Report, they are very bad. The FISA Court was clearly taken for a ride on this, a failure of the FBI up and [d]own the chain of command. It’s about as strong a medicine as I’ve seen in a report of this kind in a very long time. The FBI has had some dark day in its past, but nothing like this.

“‘This was VERY SERIOUS MISCONDUCT ON THE PART OF THE FBI.’ @brithume@BretBaier Are you listening Comey, McCabe, lovers Lisa & Peter, the beautiful Ohr family, Brennan, Clapper & many more?” Trump tweeted, listing a litany of FBI and intelligence officials who have opposed Trump.

In a Monday interview, Wray told ABC News the report had good and bad parts for his agency.

Wray admitted there were “actions described in this report that I considered unacceptable and unrepresentative of who we are as an institution.”

Wray also said it was “important that the inspector general found that, in this particular instance, the investigation was opened with appropriate predication and authorization.”

When asked if he thought the FBI unfairly targeted Trump’s campaign in 2016, Wray answered, “I do not.”

RELATED: Lindsey Graham: Report Shows FBI Ran a ‘Criminal Enterprise’ Against Trump

Wray also cringed at words like “deep state” to describe the FBI.

“I think that’s the kind of label that’s a disservice to the men and women who work at the FBI who I think tackle their jobs with professionalism, with rigor, with objectivity, with courage,” Wray said. “So that’s not a term I would ever use to describe our workforce and I think it’s an affront to them.”

Former FBI Director James Comey said the report vindicated the FBI, while others said the opposite.

Wray responded to the report with a letter to Horowitz in which he said the FBI would fix issues Horowitz cited.

“I have ordered more than 40 corrective steps to address the Report’s recommendations. Because our credibility and brand are central to fulfilling our mission, we are also making improvements beyond those recommended by the OIG. And where certain individuals have been referred by the OIG for review of their conduct, the FBI will not hesitate to take appropriate disciplinary action if warranted at the completion of the required procedures for disciplinary review,” he wrote.

Attorney General William Barr on Monday released a statement that was critical of the FBI but expressed support for Wray.

“The Inspector General’s report now makes clear that the FBI launched an intrusive investigation of a U.S. presidential campaign on the thinnest of suspicions that, in my view, were insufficient to justify the steps taken. It is also clear that, from its inception, the evidence produced by the investigation was consistently exculpatory,” Barr said.

“Nevertheless, the investigation and surveillance was pushed forward for the duration of the campaign and deep into President Trump’s administration. In the rush to obtain and maintain FISA surveillance of Trump campaign associates, FBI officials misled the FISA court, omitted critical exculpatory facts from their filings, and suppressed or ignored information negating the reliability of their principal source.

“No one is more dismayed about the handling of these FISA applications than Director Wray. I have full confidence in Director Wray and his team at the FBI, as well as the thousands of dedicated line agents who work tirelessly to protect our country. I thank the Director for the comprehensive set of proposed reforms he is announcing today, and I look forward to working with him to implement these and any other appropriate measures,” Barr said in his statement.
