President Barack Obama Played Golf on 7 Out of 8 Memorial Day Weekends

President Donald Trump has taken criticism from his opponents and the media for golfing on Memorial Day weekend. But his predecessor, President Barack Obama, golfed on seven of the eight Memorial Day weekends of his presidency.

Former Vice President Joe Biden, the presumptive Democratic Party nominee to challenge Trump in the fall, tweeted a criticism that Trump was golfing on Saturday, in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic:

The media echoed that criticism.

However, President Obama was notorious for golfing — even when the country was at war, or in mid-crisis. And he golfed on Memorial Day weekend every year but one. According to the tally at trumpgolfoutings.com, Obama golfed:

  • Monday, May 25, 2009
  • Monday, May 30, 2011
  • Saturday, May 26, 2012
  • Saturday, May 25, 2013
  • Saturday, May 24, 2014
  • Saturday, May 23, 2015
  • Saturday, May 28, 2016

The only exception was in 2010, when Obama went back to visit Chicago — and drew criticism from conservatives for failing to lay a wreath at Arlington National Cemetery on Memorial Day to mark the occasion. (He laid a wreath at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery near Chicago, instead.)

In a series of tweets, President Trump responded to the criticism, noting it was the first time he had golfed in months — and that Obama had infamously golfed after speaking briefly about the beheading of American James Foley by ISIS:

Trump also returned to the golf course as several states began opening public amenities for recreation, and after Dr. Deborah Birx of his coronavirus task force told Americans to enjoy the outdoors while observing “social distancing.”

Before Saturday’s outing, Trump last golfed on March 8, 2020.

Do the Left and their Allies in the Media Really Not Get It?

Do they really not get it? Do the liberals, leftists, Democrats, and establishment mainstream media (obviously a lot of overlap among those four entities) really not see that there was a plot, a plan, a conspiracy—call it what you will—by the highest levels of the Obama administration, to spy on, electronically surveil, plant informants, and ultimately crush and defeat the Trump presidential campaign, and then the Trump presidency?

200 Lawmakers From 23 Countries Unite To Resist China’s Latest “Comprehensive Assault” On Hong Kong’s Autonomy

200 Lawmakers From 23 Countries Unite To Resist China’s Latest "Comprehensive Assault" On Hong Kong’s Autonomy

Tyler Durden

Sun, 05/24/2020 – 11:40

As the Politburo Standing Committee prepares to weave a new "National Security" law banning all "subversive" activities linked to "foreign" influences or "terrorism" – a popular byword for the pro-democracy movement on the mainland – into Hong Kong’s Basic Law, 200 lawmakers from nearly two dozen countries have spoken up to condemn the decision, which was set in motion during China’s two-day National Party Congress, which was held in Beijing this past week 2 months after it was initially scheduled to take place.

The letter reads:

We, the co-signed, write to express grave concerns about the unilateral introduction of national security legislation by Beijing in Hong Kong.

This is a comprehensive assault on the city’s autonomy, rule of law, and fundamental freedoms. The integrity of one-country, two systems hangs by a thread.

It is the genuine grievances of ordinary Hong Kongers that are driving protests. Draconian laws will only escalate the situation further, jeopardizing Hong Kong’s future as an open Chinese international city.

If the international community cannot trust Beijing to keep its word when It comes to Hong Kong, people will be reluctant to take its word on other matters. Sympathetic governments must unite to say that this flagrant breach of the Sino-British Joint Declaration cannot be tolerated.

The list includes several prominent members of the Senate from both parties, including Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Sen Bob Menendez and others. As we noted in our initial coverage, the party congress voted to approve a resolution calling for the Standing Committee to make the necessary constitutional changes just a day after the Senate voted unanimously to approve a new bill threatening to de-list Chinese companies from American securities exchanges if they don’t comply with US auditing standards, which Chinese companies have heretofore refused, creating tremendous opportunities for people like Carson Block to get tremendously rich, while the retail bagholders who invest in companies like Luckin Coffee.

Last week, the US added more than 30 new Chinese companies to a blacklist over human rights abuses, then an ‘independent’ security firm leaked a report revealing how many of America’s largest tech companies were providing services for these firms (despite Google employees qualms about the company’s work for the Defense Department being "amoral").

But we digress.

China’s crackdown, coming in the middle of the coronavirus outbreak that Beijing (either wittingly or unwittingly) unleashed upon the world, is a brazen gesture that President Xi has no intentions of "playing nice" with the West – at least, not anymore. While some might blame President Trump for opening "Pandora’s Box" by starting the bilateral trade war, others, including the last British governor of Hong Kong – who was present when the British flag was lowered for the last time over the city-state’s seat of government back in 1997 – insist that the West has been chasing a "pot of gold" – unfettered access to Chinese markets – that never really existed.

Chris Patten, the former HK governor, claimed during a recent interview that he has believed for years that Beijing never had any intention of "liberalizing" its economy, or its political system, as the British hoped when they initially decided to hand Hong Kong back to the CCP.

Now, with President Trump cancelling arms control treaties and plotting the first US nuclear test in 30 years, investors like David Tepper now see an armed conflict between the US and China as a tail risk that – however remote – may be worth hedging against.

In Hong Kong, hundreds of pro-democracy protesters hit the streets on Sunday, though their numbers were much smaller than the crowds that battled with police last fall.

We suspect there’s more to blame than just the coronavirus for that.

Senator Tim Scott, HUD Secretary Ben Carson Slam Democrat Joe Biden Over

Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) and Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson both slammed presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden late last week over remarks that Biden made that were widely deemed as bigoted toward the black community.

During an interview on “The Breakfast Club” with co-host Charlamagne Tha God, Biden said, “If you have a problem figuring out whether you’re for me or Trump, then you ain’t black.”

Carson, who is a top neurosurgeon, responded to Biden’s remarks by stating: “It is disheartening to see that some in this country still believe that African Americans are beholden to one political ideology at birth, due to the color of their skin.”

Carson added: “In reality, ideals like the freedom of thought, resilience, and self-determination have guided the black community through the darkest of times. It is these principles, not pandering, that will continue to lead us to the mountaintop.”

Scott hit Biden much harder for the remarks during an interview on Fox News late on Friday night.

“Well, I’m not going to whitewash his arrogant, insensitive, painful comment that he made,” Scott said. “It tells me that he has taken the black vote for granted and he will continue to do so. This is not the first time we have had rhetoric from the vice president that has been offensive.”

“It was Senator Kamala Harris that called attention to vice president Biden’s ignorance on the issue of school busing,” Scott continued. “It was Senator Cory Booker who called him onto the carpet for the crime bill. So, his record has been called into question by his own party. The thing I hear right now from his party, however, crickets. It is quiet as a church mouse right now on the left. I’m tired of hearing people put democrats on a perch when it comes to offensive, racially offensive comments and they hold Republicans to a very different standard.”

“And at the same time, it’s this administration that has made permanent the funding for historically black colleges and universities for the first time in america’s history,” Scott continued. “It’s this administration that is reversed the damages done by the 1994 crime bill with the First Step Act. It was President Trump that signed that legislation into law. It was President Trump and this administration that decided to work with me on opportunity zones to bring $75 billion from the private sector into the poorest communities in this nation, closing the wealth gap.”

Scott later said that he wants Biden and Trump to go head-to-head on their records for the black community because he thinks that Trump has the stronger record.

In a separate interview, he said, “Joe Biden’s comments are the most arrogant and condescending thing I’ve heard in a very long time. I am offended, but not surprised.”

THE COST OF QUARANTINE: ‘We’ve Seen A Year’s Worth Of Suicide Attempts In The Last Four Weeks,’ California Doc Says

Trauma doctors at a northern California medical center say the hospital has seen a huge spike in suicide attempts amid the coronavirus COVID-19 lockdowns.

Dr. Mike deBoisblanc, head of the trauma at John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek near San Francisco, said the loss of more than 37 million jobs across the country amid state shutdowns of businesses deemed “nonessential” and lengthy lockdowns have affected mental health.

“We’ve never seen numbers like this, in such a short period of time,” he said. “I mean we’ve seen a year’s worth of suicide attempts in the last four weeks,” deBoisblanc told ABC-7.

Kacey Hansen has worked as a trauma nurse at John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek for almost 33 years. She is worried because not only are they seeing more suicide attempts, she says they are not able to save as many patients as usual.

“What I have seen recently, I have never seen before,” Hansen said. “I have never seen so much intentional injury.”

DeBoisblanc said the lockdowns and quarantines must end.

“Personally I think it’s time,” deBoisblanc said. “I think, originally, this [shelter-in-place order] was put in place to flatten the curve and to make sure hospitals have the resources to take care of COVID patients. We have the current resources to do that and our other community health is suffering.”

Executive Director Tom Tamura said that people who are struggling need to seek help. “With help comes hope. I think that there are people and organizations out there that you can contact that can get you the information you need and resources you need to get you through this tough time.”

“Generally speaking the vast majority of people say they feel better after they call and get the resources they need,” he said.

Tamura said it’s understandable that people are having a difficult time during the lockdowns.

“I think people have found themselves disconnected from the normal supportive networks that they have, churches and schools and book clubs, you name it,” Tamura said. “And that, coupled with the closure of some counseling services, people were maybe in a little bit of shock. They were trying to weather the storm a bit but as that isolation has grown people have come to realize this isn’t a sprint it is marathon.”

The death toll from COVID-19 is approaching 100,000, according to Johns Hopkins. But the lockdowns could cause 77,000 deaths from suicides and drug overdoses, New York physician Dr. Nicole Saphier told DailyMailTV.

Dr. Saphier pointed to stark warnings from cities across the country showing rocketing overdose death rates, while a study from the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) found that each 1% increase in unemployment led to a 3.3% spike in drug overdoses and 1% increase in suicides.

‘The economy should be considered a public health emergency,’ Dr. Saphier told DailyMailTV. ‘The indirect consequences of the pandemic may far outweigh those of the direct virulence of the virus.’

‘Suicide, drug use, alcoholism, domestic violence have all been shown to increase during periods of strife and increased unemployment. This as depression and anxiety sets in with the uncertainty of the economic future of individuals and the country as a whole.’

California Doctors Saw ‘A Year’s Worth Of Suicides’ Last Month Amid Coronavirus Lockdown

Doctors at John Muir Medical Center near San Francisco, California, say they’ve seen more deaths by suicide in the last month than deaths from coronavirus, according to a local ABC affiliate — suicides they say are the direct result of the state’s shelter-in-place order.

“Personally I think it’s time,” Dr. Mike deBoisblanc, the emergency department head at Jon Muir, told ABC News Bay Area. “I think, originally, [the shelter-in-place order] was put in place to flatten the curve and to make sure hospitals have the resources to take care of COVID patients. We have the current resources to do that and our other community health is suffering.”

He went on to say that the hospital has seen a “year’s worth of suicide attempts” over the course of the last month, as businesses fail, jobs are lost, people become isolated, and access to mental health services is made more difficult by the California lockdown.

“We’ve never seen numbers like this, in such a short period of time,” he said. “I mean we’ve seen a year’s worth of suicide attempts in the last four weeks.”

Other hospital officials at John Muir say suicide attempts, made over the past month, were also more likely to end in death, not recovery.

“What I have seen recently, I have never seen before,”one trauma nurse added. “I have never seen so much intentional injury.”

“They intend to die,” she added. “Sometimes, people will make what we call a ‘gesture.’ It’s a cry for help. We’re just seeing something a little different than that right now. It’s upsetting.””

The hospital itself said in a statement that it is largely supportive of the state’s lockdown, which ends on May 31. And, it says, the shelter-in-place order has saved many lives from coronavirus and prevented state hospitals from becoming overwhelmed. But, officials point out, there are downsides and costs to such policies.

The executive director of the National Suicide Prevention Hotline, Tom Tamura, does say that individuals prone to suicide attempts during the lockdown have been very receptive to mental health resources — perhaps more so than patients that typically contact the hotline in times of crisis.

“Generally speaking the vast majority of people say they feel better after they call and get the resources they need,” Tamura told the Daily Mail. “With help comes hope. I think that there are people and organizations out there that you can contact that can get you the information you need and resources you need to get you through this tough time.”

“I think people have found themselves disconnected from the normal supportive networks that they have, churches and schools and book clubs, you name it,” Tamura added, getting to the root of the problem. “And that, coupled with the closure of some counseling services, people were maybe in a little bit of shock. They were trying to weather the storm a bit but as that isolation has grown people have come to realize this isn’t a sprint it is marathon.”

South Carolina Mail-in Ballots Ending Up in Maryland Raise Questions About Election Integrity

When the vote-by-mail controversy first reared its ugly head at the beginning of April, I didn’t know what to think. After all, I hadn’t considered the fact that voting in person might get the panic patrol into a hyperventilating state, but voting by mail could present serious fraud issues. Why wouldn’t the mainstream media just tell me what to believe already?

Well, thank God, The New York Times stepped into the breach on April 11 and assured me the only reason the Republicans were worried about vote-by-mail was because of malfeasance. Even though, um, the most prominent example of voter fraud in recent memory involved absentee ballots.

Experts pointed to “several documented voting fraud cases of recent decades involving mail or absentee ballots, most recently the race in North Carolina’s Ninth Congressional District in 2018, when an operative who rounded up absentee ballots for the Republican candidate, Mark Harris, was charged with election fraud. The practice is known as ballot harvesting.”

But seriously, it’s not an issue! The headline on the article said it all: “Trump Is Pushing a False Argument on Vote-by-Mail Fraud. Here Are the Facts.” Problem solved. Now, let me just wash my hands of the issue, making sure to sing “Happy Birthday” twice as I do it, and …

Wait, what’s that you say? A bunch of South Carolina’s primary ballots were found someplace they shouldn’t have been this past week? Well, I’m sure it was just a random misstep and they weren’t discovered too far off the beaten path. Where did they end up, anyhow?

Maryland? Oh. Hrm.

According to the Charleston, South Carolina, Post and Courier, the state is considering breaking ties with a printing firm it uses for absentee ballots after 20 of the ballots ended up a bit further north than they were supposed to. Those ballots have made their way to the appropriate voters at this point, but this is apparently only the latest problem the state has had with printer SeaChange Print Innovations.

“Some Greenville County voters received the wrong absentee ballots this year when the Democratic presidential primary and a special election for sheriff were held 10 days apart, S.C. Election Commission spokesman Chris Whitmire said,” the newspaper reported Wednesday.

“Some Charleston County voters received ballots that were folded in a way that could make them tougher to read by scanning machines, he said.

Are mail-in ballots an invitation to election fraud?

0% (0 Votes)

0% (0 Votes)

“The latest mishap has left the state election agency with little confidence that SeaChange can handle the surge in absentee voting this year as people practice social distancing to avoid contracting the coronavirus, Whitmire said.”

According to Fox News, this isn’t the first problem South Carolina has experienced with mailed-in ballots.

In November 2018, Richland County didn’t count 1,040 votes, submitting results two days late in the Democratic primary because elections officials realized that they’d lost track of dozens of ballots.

Unbelievably, roughly the same thing happened in the presidential primary in March of this year, forcing a recount by hand.

But yeah, they’re ready.

RELATED: DOJ Charges Election Judge for Being Paid To Add Votes for Democratic Candidates

Now, let’s be real here: Except for candidates in the June 9 South Carolina primary for state and local seats, this isn’t going to make too much of a difference. However, extrapolate this to an entire country during a general election. This is the system Democrats want — and, along with it, the potential for ballot harvesting, the targeted collection of votes used by Democrats to win a whole panoply of seats in California back in 2018.

The opportunities for fraud are clearly more numerous with a vote-by-mail election, but we’re told to ignore this. We’re also told to ignore the logistical concerns of dong this on a massive scale during one of the most important elections in our lifetime.

But yet, The New York Times is willing to vouchsafe to us that they’ll give us “the facts,” which means there’ll be no fraud, no concerns, nothing like that. Little critical reporting, too, has been given to the Democrats’ apparent decision to tie voting by mail to the next coronavirus relief package — although it’s been rebranded as “voting at home,” according to Fox News.

There’s a great irony here, inasmuch as we just came off a presidential election where the media was convinced the Russians were able to affect the outcome by hacking the Democratic National Committee’s poorly secured email system and by running a few Facebook advertisements.

If it’s that easy, though, then surely a vote-by-mail system would be profoundly simple for the bad actors in the Kremlin to take advantage of — unless, of course, the media and Democrats were never really worried about that.

In the meantime, an extremely problematic vote-by-mail system that opens us up to massive electoral fraud and almost no way to check the identity of who’s voting is being pushed as an antidote to a pandemic because voting in person is just too scary. (Going to the liquor store remains fine, though.)

Democrats believe vote-by-mail benefits them. Therefore, no matter what the security concerns, vote-by-mail must be pushed.

What happened with the stray South Carolina ballots will only be the tip of the iceberg if the Democrats are allowed to force “voting at home” on Americans in exchange for COVID-19 relief.

Alaskan Armed Citizen Saves Officers, Foils Mass Shooting

An armed citizen in Kwethluk, Alaska, intervened on behalf of officers and foiled a mass shooting at the village’s public safety building.

Alaska Public Radio reported that 19-year-old Brian Nicolai allegedly broke into the building, “staged rifles inside, and activated the fire alert system.” He then waited for police to arrive.

Officer Tiger Lee arrived on scene and reported that Nicolai pointed and gun at him and “pulled the trigger.” However, the gun did not fire because Nicolai had not loaded the gun.

Nicolai chambered a round and Lee fled under fire.

Casey Thompson, a resident, then intervened. Thompson pointed his personal rifle at Nicolai and demanded he end the attack. Nicolai complied by dropping his weapon.

Bearing Arms reported that Lee and his fellow officers were unarmed as they responded to the call.

The Kwethluk officers explained that they work unarmed due to “a lack of funding.”

President Donald Trump said Sunday that Democrats are attempting to use the Chinese coronavirus pandemic to push mail-in ballot plans for the upcoming November election, warning the move will lead to “the greatest Rigged Election in history.”

“The United States cannot have all Mail In Ballots. It will be the greatest Rigged Election in history. People grab them from mailboxes, print thousands of forgeries and “force” people to sign,” the president wrote. “Also, forge names. Some absentee OK, when necessary. Trying to use Covid for this Scam”:

Press covers for Joe Biden in bitter wake of ‘you ain’t black’ fallout

With his ‘you ain’t black’ warning to black people who don’t want to vote for him, Joe Biden, the candidate the Democratic establishment picked because he was supposedly the guy who could bring in the black vote, once again revealed his racism, and the fallout is ugly. And it’s telling that the press is trying to cover for him by keeping it out of the news.

Here’s how bad it was:

“If you have a problem figuring out whether you’re for me or for Trump, then you ain’t black,” Biden said, in the same nasty aggressive tone he used to snarl at the Iowa farmer he challenged to a pushup contest and called fat.

The fallout on Twitter was explosive, and it’s still going like rings on a mushroom cloud as I write this:

Here’s are some retorts from black voters:

Why is this so disgusting in itself? First, it’s presumptuous, demonstrating that Democrats clearly take black voters for granted, which is what Joe seemingly addresses. But it’s also racist, because it attempts to nullify black people’s right to think for themselves and make choices, something Biden doesn’t tell whites. Third, as Kevin Williamson noted, the black accent was creepy, too, something seemingly reserved by white Democrats to throw at only black people: Imagine Biden going into the gay community and pitching them for votes in a stereotypical gay cadence, or going to, say, a Korean-American community event and trying to win their votes by imitating their immigrant accents.) Only blacks get this treatment from Democrats, which is yet another reason to view it as racist.

It’s also exceptionally opaque of Joe, too. How long has this argument been going on? I first heard it during the Clarence Thomas/Anita Hill hearings, chaired by none other than Creepy Joe Biden on the television, back when I lived in San Francisco. The issue came up in the lefty circles I knew in the Mission District as well as in the plummy academic environs of U.C. Santa Cruz – did black people have a right to think for themselves or not? Most lefties I knew at the time were actually were willing to give it a ‘yes but,’ rather than a ‘no.’ They knew that to say ‘no’ was a really bad look. Joe of course, was oblivious.

Here’s the view of a bigfoot in the Black community, BET billionaire Robert Johnson, a guy only a stupid person would cross:

Think of how puny and disgusting Biden must look to self-made-against-all-odds success story Johnson, telling him he needs to vote a certain way, or else his entire story and all he did to make it is null, whitey having the last word once again. Johnson must view him as a pinworm.

Charlemagne Tha God looked flabbergasted, too, and for good reason. Talk like that is racist, the real kind. And most racists like to conceal it, but Joe is so out-of-it he doesn’t, he doesn’t even know it’s racism. Charlemagne, though, is a kind of truth detector, toxic to phonies, so he knows for sure. He’s the same guy who unwittingly exposed Kamala Harris as a fraud over her ’I’m Jamaican’ (so I smoke pot) thang, prompting a disgusted response from her very proper Jamaican father who knew she knew better, and worse still for her, drew attention to her vicious record as a prosecutor, throwing low-level pot offenders into prison and not letting them out even when their terms ended, (the better to use their cheap labor to fight wildfires). All that, as she was tokin’ up a good time herself. That pretty well finished her off when Tulsi Gabbard brought it up at one of the Democratic Party debates.

Now it’s Joe Biden turn and the fallout is even more pluming. Biden was the guy put forth by Democrats — against a huge field of contenders — as the guy to support because he’s the guy who could bring in the black vote. He was President Obama’s vice president. Now that he’s been exposed as a racist, why is he there at all – why not a guy like Pete Buttigieg, who may not be drawing in black voters but he sure as heck doesn’t insult them. Biden’s going to lose votes over this, raising questions as to why he’s there at all. He might even get booted form the Democratic nomination slot come summer because a lot of people are being turned off.

Which signals that it’s a strange thing that the network are doing all they can to keep this exploding political wildfire with smoke everyone can see, out of the news. Nothing to see here. The nets covered the Biden ‘apology’ and moved on, but Twitter keeps going and going. Twitter has since marked the matter as ‘sensitive’ which means it’s looking to censor the issue, too.

A little nuance from this observer:

Fascinating to watch how the left-leaning cable networks have covered Biden’s “you ain’t black” comment.

MSNBC has discussed it nearly every hour, including a lengthy tough interview between @ChuckTodd@KatyTurNBC and Symone Sanders (clip below).

CNN hasn’t mentioned it once. pic.twitter.com/InRhcMkTUD

— Steve Krakauer (@SteveKrak) May 22, 2020

MSNBC is the Bernie Sanders Network, and has a small audience, so they’ll have at it. Not so, CNN, not so the mainstream networks ABC, CBS, NBC. Nobody’s covering the fallout. There were brief mentions of Joe’s supposed apology on the networks (he called his statement ‘cavalier’ which sounded pretty detached and weird, hardly a real apology, given the problematic nature of it.

Yet by and large, this is not an issue to the bigger networks, despite an explosion of Twitter traffic and voter interest, and despite the mainstream media’s long-held fascination with finding racism under every rock to support a ‘narrative.’ That phony ‘1619’ invented history from the New York Times hit all the right narrative notes, which is why it got a Pulitzer. And more important from a breaking news perspective, Biden’s statement is going to cost him votes. That’s not a story to them?

Yet they don’t want to say anything.

Which tells you that for them, they’re in the sack with Democrats. Politics supersedes their proclaimed primacy of race. Black people are only of interest to the press so long as they vote Democrat. And if an avalanche of black votes move away from the Democrats as a result of this gaffe, they’re somehow not going to notice.

If this doesn’t discredit them along with Joe himself, what does? They’re exposed as shills from this coverup.
