Trump Authorizes Feds To Arrest Anyone Who Vandalizes Statues On Federal Property

President Donald Trump announced early on Tuesday morning that he has “authorized” the federal government to arrest anyone who vandalizes statues or monuments on federal property.

The announcement from the president comes after rioters have destroyed numerous statues of former presidents in recent days, including statues of George WashingtonThomas Jefferson, and Ulysses S. Grant.

“I have authorized the Federal Government to arrest anyone who vandalizes or destroys any monument, statue or other such Federal property in the U.S. with up to 10 years in prison, per the Veteran’s Memorial Preservation Act, or such other laws that may be pertinent,” Trump tweeted. “This action is taken effective immediately, but may also be used retroactively for destruction or vandalism already caused. There will be no exceptions!”

Trump later addressed the extremists who tried to set up an “autonomous zone” in Washington, D.C., tweeting: “There will never be an ‘Autonomous Zone’ in Washington, D.C., as long as I’m your President. If they try they will be met with serious force!”

Last night, Trump weighed in on the rioters who tried to destroy a statue of former President Andrew Jackson earlier in the day, writing: “Numerous people arrested in D.C. for the disgraceful vandalism, in Lafayette Park, of the magnificent Statue of Andrew Jackson, in addition to the exterior defacing of St. John’s Church across the street. 10 years in prison under the Veteran’s Memorial Preservation Act. Beware!”

Secretary of the Interior David Bernhardt responded to the latest destruction of property by the rioters, writing the following statement on Twitter:

I just left Lafayette Square where another so called “peaceful protest” led to destruction tonight. Let me be clear: we will not bow to anarchists. Law and order will prevail, and justice will be served.

The scope of the violence and destruction since the protests started weeks ago have been significant. Criminals have vandalized national memorials and monuments, ignited sacred sites, attacked law enforcement officers, and destroyed countless businesses.

The Lincoln Memorial and World War II Memorial were previously defaced, and now the Andrew Jackson Statue in Lafayette Square has been defaced by criminals who sought to topple the statue recognizing the seventh President of the United States.

Law enforcement officers ensured that this would not happen.

Across the country, some elected leaders of our cities have expressed enthusiasm and support for these criminals, exhibiting an undeniable unwillingness to protect law abiding citizens and their property.

We live in the greatest country in the world, and I thank our dedicated law enforcement officials who stand tall against these coordinated attacks and seek peace and justice for all.

The destruction of historical statues and monuments across the country was sparked by the death of George Floyd a month ago. Floyd’s death triggered riots, looting, and violence across the country, which morphed into activists going after Confederate statues. The activists quickly moved on from the Confederate statues to vandalizing statues of America’s presidents, the man who wrote “The Star-Spangled Banner,” a notable person from the Catholic church, and a Holocaust memorial.

Left-Wing Shaun King: Tear Down ‘White Supremacy’ Statues of Jesus

Left-wing activist Shaun King tweeted Monday all statues of Jesus that portray him as a “white European” should be torn down because they are “a form of white supremacy.”

“Yes, I think the statues of the white European they claim is Jesus should also come down,” wrote King, a self-described black man whose family says he is white. “They are a form of white supremacy. Always have been. In the Bible, when the family of Jesus wanted to hide, and blend in, guess where they went? EGYPT! Not Denmark. Tear them down.”

“Yes. All murals and stained glass windows of white Jesus, and his European mother, and their white friends should also come down,” he continued, reported Fox News. “They are a gross form white supremacy. Created as tools of oppression. Racist propaganda. They should all come down.”

Since 2015, King has claimed the Christian celebrations of Christmas and Easter are “tools of white supremacy.”

The activist, who starred as an official surrogate in a political ad released by Sen. Bernie Sanders’ (I-VT) former presidential campaign, has described himself in many ways: a journalist, activist against racism, and a “civil rights activist” in Sanders’ ad, in particular.

While King is currently tweeting his remarks about statues of Jesus as violent mobs fueled by Black Lives Matter and Antifa are tearing down historical monuments, he himself was ejected from the Black Lives Matter movement by its leaders in December 2015 over questions about the “integrity” of activist fundraising.

King also received a scholarship from Oprah Winfrey to attend Morehouse College, a historically black school, and then denied lying about his race when he applied for the grant.

Jesus Statues Are Now Being Targeted for Supposed ‘White Supremacy’

This won’t end well for the left. As radical and radicalized mobs engage in an orgy of destruction from coast to coast, attacking symbols of the Confederacy, Christopher Columbus and even heroes of the war the destroyed the slave-holding South, leftist activist Shaun King took the current craze to its next step: An attack on…

Larry Elder’s ‘Uncle Tom’ Debunks Myth Political Parties ‘Switched’ on Racism

Conservative talk radio host Larry Elder joined Breitbart News Editor-in-Chief Alex Marlow on Monday’s edition of SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Daily to discuss the new documentary Uncle Tom, which examines the history of black conservatives.

Elder, an executive producer of the the film, addressed the related narratives of Democrats and Republicans “switching” on matters of racial segregation after the 1960s and the claim of a “Southern strategy” deployed by the GOP to court white voters.

Marlow asked, “You debunked a myth that I’ve been dying to debunk on the show. Did the parties switch? Did the Democrats and Republicans just — all of a sudden, overnight — decide they’re going swap places like I’ve been told my whole life?”

Elder replied, “No, it’s a lie and, it’s really easy to dispute it. If you look at all the Democrats that voted against the 1964 Civil Rights Act, which was supposedly the act that tore the relationship between the Democratic Party and the racists, how many of them actually switched to the Republican Party?”

Elder continued, “In the case of the Senate, one did, Strom Thurmond. In the case of the House, one person did. I can’t even recall that person’s name. That’s it, and if you are a white racist and you’re unhappy because of the passage of Civil Rights Acts, you’re going to leave the Democratic Party and join the party where a greater percentage of [its members of Congress] voted for the act that you despised? It doesn’t make any sense.”

Listen below:

Elder reflected on the Democrats’ leftward political momentum over time.

“The reason the South became increasingly more conservative is because the the Democrats became increasingly more left-wing,” Elder explained. “They became increasingly anti-religious, increasingly pro-abortion, increasingly higher taxes [and] pro-union. They were anti-Vietnam War, and the South felt very differently about that.”

Elder remarked, “There was a gradual change [in the South] from pro-Democrat to pro-Republican, and that change wasn’t even completed until the 1990s. It took 30 years for the South to go from Democrat to Republican, but we’re turning this all on race and the 1964 Civil Rights Act?”

Elder maintained, “It is simply not true. This narrative that they have to use in order to airbrush over their skanky history. This is the party of slavery. This is the party that founded the Klan. It wasn’t Democrat Party that did it, but Democrats founded the Klan, and the [Ku Klux Klan members] were all belonging to the Democratic Party. In fact, the NAACP used to refer to the KKK as the terror wing of the Democratic Party.”

Elder added, “Never mind the first Republican president to win was a guy named Abraham Lincoln, and the reason for the start of the Republican Party was to stop and eventually to end the practice of slavery. The fact is that history is taught by the left. Government schools are dominated, of course, by the left. Hollywood is dominated by the left. The media as dominated by the left, too, so this message of ‘the switch’ has been unchallenged, has been perpetuated, and now a lot of young people believe it.”

Watch below:

Marlow and Elder lamented the political commodification of victimhood.

Elder regularly mocks left-wing and partisan Democrat activists, politicians, and polemicists as “victicrats.”

Democrats and the broader left are politically invested in characterizing American society as pathologized by “racism,” observed Elder, sharing his motivations for producing Uncle Tom.

“I anticipated that  racism would still be an obsession, because the media drives that narrative,” Elder stated. “A lot of young people actually do believe that racism remains a major problem in America. They’ve been taught that by media, by academia, [and] by Hollywood. Also, I think the newspapers believe it makes money. I think people care about racial stories, and if they can suggest that what happened to George Floyd is a microcosm of law enforcement in general, I think that’s a theme they can run with.”

Democrats’ political fortunes depend on denigration of dissent as being rooted in “racism,” noted Elder.

“Politicians do it, of course, to get that 95-percent monolithic black vote without which they cannot win,” Elder said, “so it’s necessary to to characterize Republicans as evil, vicious, Nazis, racists, and to characterize the Democrats as having been gladiators on behalf of the black America.”

Uncle Tom‘s producers describe it as “a collection of intimate interviews with some of America’s most provocative black conservative thinkers [that] takes a different look at being black in America.”

How To Check If Your iPhone Is Secretly A Coronavirus Tracker

How To Check If Your iPhone Is Secretly A Coronavirus Tracker

Tyler Durden

Fri, 06/19/2020 – 12:05

If you downloaded the latest iOS update back in May, and any following updates, then congratulations…your COVID-19 infection status will likely soon be tracked by state health officials as part of each state’s contact tracing efforts.

Many iPhone users across the US have over the past few days started to notice a new setting under the "privacy" subtab of the iPhone health app. It looks like this, and allows users to "toggle on" COVID-19 exposure logging.

It’s all thanks to the latest update of Apple’s iOS operating system for iPhone, iOS13.5.

Let’s take a closer look.

Some on twitter have only just noticed the toggle button, and we must note that it appears to have been quietly installed by Apple in recent days.

A similar setting has been installed on Android phones.

Some users questioned whether Apple will truly respect their privacy regarding their COVID-19 status, or whether they’ve interacted with anyone who has the virus…or maybe even just passed them on the street or in the supermarket.

This is happening even as evidence suggests that most patients are infected by someone who either lives in, or frequently shares, the same space as them. Are you awake yet?

Statue Destruction Mob Moves from Confederates to George Washington

A Portland, Oregon, statue of George Washington was toppled Thursday night after leftist protesters first burned a flag draped over the Founding Father’s head. Portland, a center of antifa activity, has been the site of rioting and protests since the May 25 death of George Floyd in Minneapolis police custody. A mob there had already…

Economist Steve Moore and Kevin Roberts: “Don’t Bail Out Profligate States”

Former Trump Senior Economic Advisor, Steve Moore, joined forces with Kevin Roberts in a piece at Real Clear Politics where they discuss the actions the Trump Administration should take in the aftermath of the China coronavirus pandemic.  One thing they don’t think the President should do is bailout the states ran by radical far left progressives.

The article is reprinted below in its entirety with permission from Real Clear Politics [emphasis ours]:

Writing for FiveThirtyEight.com, Amelia Thomson-DeVeaux has a dire warning for Congress if it fails to bail out the states. “Without a lifeline from the federal government,” she writes, “states would have no choice but to start slashing budgets and raising taxes.”

Meanwhile, governors like Gavin Newsom of California are threatening to shut down first responders, hospitals, and police services if they don’t get a big check from Washington. This is called hostage-taking, and Republicans in Congress would be foolish to pay the ransom. Behind this reasonable-sounding statement is a slew of flawed presumptions. One is that the federal government has some large pot of money to give to states. The federal government can only give states money by taking it from their residents in the first place. Moreover, Uncle Sam is already on tap to borrow at least $4 trillion — so it is in even worse fiscal shape than the states.

The federal government is already bailing out the states to the tune of hundreds of billions of dollars. The fiscal mess many states find themselves in now isn’t entirely due to COVID-19; their own profligate ways and bad policies play a role, too. Targeted tax relief to taxpayers and small businesses is a far more effective way to get money to Main Street, USA — and will do much more to revive the U.S. economy than simply showering the states with cash.

Now is exactly the right time for eliminating waste and inefficiency in city and state budgets. American families are tightening their belts; state governments can, too. The Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget is keeping track of where the COVID-19 money is going, and much of it is going directly to the states. Here are a few examples: $50 billion for increased Medicaid matching funds; $21 billion for increased SNAP (food stamp) benefits; $150 billion for pandemic-related costs; $31 billion for education; and $11 billion for coronavirus testing.

What the states are requesting now is help with the tax receipt shortfalls they’re beginning to see because of the economic shutdown. But state officials should view these shortfalls as signals — families are hurting. Now is not the time to increase the burden on taxpayers or more likely, their children and grandchildren, many of whom aren’t alive today to voice their opposition to being saddled with debt.

It is particularly unfair for citizens of Republican red states that have for the most part acted in a fiscally responsible way and built up rainy-day reserves to now have to pay for the profligacy and unfunded pensions in Democratic blue states.  Moreover, the blue states have been much slower to reopen their economies to business and commerce.

Now, however, is the time for states to re-examine their own policies and spending priorities. As a letter from a group of Republican lawmakers (organized by the American Legislative Exchange Council) notes: “While the economy has produced record revenues in recent years, sadly, states have also continued to accumulate massive amounts of debt and unfunded financial liabilities. A federal bailout would only encourage this cycle of debt and spending to continue.”

As for the governors and local officials who are playing the hostage-taking game of slashing vital services, that’s an emotionally charged argument, but it should backfire. Cities, for example, might start with their artists-in-residence before laying off firefighters. They could also go to Openthebooks.com and read  the thousands of examples of preposterous spending by states and cities that almost all taxpayers would support cutting. State leaders demand a “new normal” from us; we should demand the same of them, and it should include fiscal responsibility.

A good way for Washington to help states, and it is something President Donald Trump has already been doing, is eliminating burdensome regulations. Trump recently noted in an executive order: “Agencies must continue to remove barriers to the greatest engine of economic prosperity the world has ever known: the innovation, initiative, and drive of the American people.”

Congress should also do what the White House has been advocating and suspend the payroll tax for a while for small businesses and workers, putting money directly into the pockets of workers.

Bailouts only reward bad behavior by mayors and governors, who should be ending shutdowns ASAP. Leaner, more effective government, lower taxes and pro-growth regulations will do far more to revive the U.S. economy than an infusion of taxpayer dollars. Just as American families are adjusting their own budgets, state governments must do the same.

Steve Moore is a co-chairman of the Committee to Unleash Prosperity and a member of President Trump’s economic recovery task force.

Kevin Roberts is the executive director of the Texas Public Policy Foundation.
