Do Reporters CARE That a BLM Protester Attacked a Journalist?

File this under something you think journalists would care about. A violent Black Live Matter member has attacked a journalist.
On Tuesday, Alpha News, a Minneapolis-based company “that covers stories the local press would rather ignore,” learned one of its journalists had been “accosted and assaulted” by “a vicious group of BLM zealots.”
According to an article posted on Tuesday by reporter John Hinderaker on the Powerline blog, Rebecca Brannon was covering a protest in downtown Minneapolis when she was attacked by several “protesters” he also described as “thugs.”
One woman struck Brannon repeatedly and attacked her with a construction cone. Ultimately, the BLM thugs stole Brannon’s phone, with which she had been videoing them, and threw it into a fountain.
The phone was destroyed, but Brannon was later able to recover video of the incident from the phone’s SD (Secure Digital) card. The video abruptly ends when the phone was ripped from her hands.
“It is easy to understand why Black Lives Matter activists do not want to be filmed by an independent journalist,” Hinderaker noted. “If more people understood that BLM is a violent, Marxist organization, its support would evaporate quickly.”
The demonstration was a response to a police officer shooting a black man in the back in Kenosha, Wisconsin, that turned destructive and led to 11 people being arrested late Monday and early Tuesday outside the Hennepin County jail.
The arrests came after some of the roughly 100 demonstrators broke windows at the jail and threatened to breach its security, according to a report from the local sheriff’s office.
The city police made five arrests of their own, those occurring near the downtown precinct headquarters, noted department spokesman John Elder. One was for suspicion of property damage and the others for various misdemeanor offenses, Elder stated.
After the shooting took place, police deployed tear gas, flash bangs and rubber bullets upon protesters and erected a fence around the local courthouse. Hinderaker concluded: “I suppose the thugs who attacked Rebecca Brannon did not want their criminal activities to be exposed.”
Shouldn’t journalists care about other journalists getting attacked?

Over 100 Former John McCain Staffers Endorse Biden, Explicitly Because He’s Worse On War

Over 100 Former John McCain Staffers Endorse Biden, Explicitly Because He’s Worse On War

Tyler Durden

Thu, 08/27/2020 – 18:45

You can’t make this stuff up. The New York Times presents us with the only "respectable" option, given it’s all about "character" that can supposedly measure up to the national security state’s late great patriotic icon:

More than 100 former staff members for Senator John McCain are supporting Joseph R. Biden Jr., a show of support across the political divide that they hope amplifies the “Country First” credo of the former Arizona senator.

Many of the onetime McCain aides who signed the letter share his hawkish foreign policy views and recoil from Mr. Trump’s “America First” politics, which Mr. Salter called his “coddling of dictators or disinterest in our alliances.”

We should interject that in the late Senator McCain’s twisted Manichean worldview it was not at all "Country First" to begin with, more like "Which country to invade first?"

Here’s more from The Times:

The list of signatories includes a range of people — from chiefs of staff in Mr. McCain’s Senate office to junior aides on his campaigns — who worked for him over his 35 years in Congress and during two presidential bids.

Mark Salter, Mr. McCain’s longtime chief aide and speechwriter, helped organize the letter.

“We have different views of Joe Biden and the Democratic Party platform — most of us will disagree with a fair amount of it — but we all agree that getting Donald Trump out of office is clearly in the national interest,” Salter said.

The Libertarian Institute’s Scott Horton summed it up best by noting sarcastically, John McCain’s staff just endorsed Biden, "explicitly because he’s worse on war" – meaning that the very thing that most common sense people long considered to be the worst thing about McCain and his legacy becomes a "virtue" in the eyes of his former staff and writers at the NY Times.

Look who’s glowingly proud:

And Horton underscores further:

Got that? “Country First” means world empire and endless war; while on the contrary, “America First” means world empire and endless war at the hands of someone who whines about it sometimes.

Tragically, as Bonnie Kristan in The Week recently observed, the anti-war wing of both parties is effectively dead.

Walter Williams: Institutional Racism

Institutional racism and systemic racism are terms bandied about these days without much clarity. Being 84 years of age, I have seen and lived through what might be called institutional racism or systemic racism. Both operate under the assumption that one race is superior to another. It involves the practice of treating a person or group of people differently based on their race. Negroes, as we proudly called ourselves back then, were denied entry to hotels, restaurants and other establishments all over the nation, including the north. Certain jobs were entirely off-limits to Negroes. What school a child attended was determined by his race. In motion pictures, Negroes were portrayed as being unintelligent, such as the roles played by Stepin Fetchit and Mantan Moreland in the Charlie Chan movies. Fortunately, those aspects of racism are a part of our history. By the way, Fetchit, whose real name was Lincoln Perry, was the first black actor to become a millionaire, and he has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and, in 1976, the Hollywood chapter of the NAACP awarded Perry a Special NAACP Image Award.
Despite the nation’s great achievements in race relations, there remains institutional racism, namely the widespread practice of treating a person or group of people differently based on their race. Most institutional racism is practiced by the nation’s institutions of higher learning. Eric Dreiband, an assistant attorney general in the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice, recently wrote that Yale University “grants substantial, and often determinative, preferences based on race.” The four-page letter said, “Yale’s race discrimination imposes undue and unlawful penalties on racially-disfavored applicants, including in particular Asian American and White applicants.”
Yale University is by no means alone in the practice of institutional racism. Last year, Asian students brought a discrimination lawsuit against Harvard University and lost. The judge held that the plaintiffs could not prove that the lower personal ratings assigned to Asian applicants are the result of “animus” or ill-motivated racial hostility towards Asian Americans by Harvard admissions officials. However, no one offered an explanation as to why Asian American applicants were deemed to have, on average, poorer personal qualities than white applicants. An explanation may be that Asian students party less, study more and get higher test scores than white students.
In court filings, Students for Fair Admissions argued that the University of North Carolina’s admissions practices are unconstitutional. Their brief stated: “UNC’s use of race is the opposite of individualized; UNC uses race mechanically to ensure the admission of the vast majority of underrepresented minorities.” Edward Blum, president of Students for Fair Admissions, said in a news release that the court filing “exposes the startling magnitude of the University of North Carolina’s racial preferences.” Blum said that their filing contains statistical evidence that shows that an Asian American male applicant from North Carolina with a 25% chance of getting into UNC would see his acceptance probability increase to about 67% if he were Latino and to more than 90% if he were African American.
In 1996, California voters passed Proposition 209 (also known as the California Civil Rights Initiative) that read: “The state shall not discriminate against, or grant preferential treatment to, any individual or group on the basis of race, sex, color, ethnicity, or national origin in the operation of public employment, public education, or public contracting.” California legislators voted earlier this summer to put the question to voters to repeal the state’s ban on the use of race as a criterion in the hiring, awarding public contracts and admissions to public universities and restore the practice of institutional racism under the euphemistic title “affirmative action.”
When social justice warriors use the terms “institutional racism” or “systemic racism,” I suspect it means that they cannot identify the actual person or entities engaged in the practice. However, most of what might be called institutional or systemic racism is practiced by the nation’s institutions of higher learning. And it is seen by many, particularly the intellectual elite, as a desirable form of determining who gets what.

Bears Great Brian Urlacher on NBA Boycott: Players Boycotted Because a Sex Offender Reached for a Knife and Got Shot by Police

Former Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher took to Instagram to ridicule the NBA for boycotting games in the face of the Jacob Blake shooting on Wednesday, by unfavorably comparing them to Packers football legend Brett Favre.

Urlacher initially posted his feelings about the NBA’s decision to cancel all games on Wednesday to his 54Urlacher Instagram account with the story about how Green Bay Packers great Brett Favre played a scheduled game back in 2003 on the day after his father died of a heart attack.

“Brett Favre played the MNF game the day his dad died, threw 4 TDs in the first half and was a legend for playing in the face of adversity,” Urlacher wrote according to the Chicago Sun-Times. “NBA players boycott the playoffs because a dude reaching for a knife, wanted on [a] felony sexual assault warrant, was shot by police.”

The NBA canceled its games after the Milwaukee Bucks refused to come out of their locker room for practice on Wednesday afternoon.

Urlacher soon deleted his Instagram post without explanation.

Radical Michigan Democrat Governor Gretchen Whitmer ‘Glad’ Big Ten Football Is Cancelled After She Worked to Shut It Down

Michigan Democrat Governor Gretchen Whitmer claims she is glad that Big Ten football and all sports are cancelled for the rest of the 2020 season.  What a dumb and evil woman.

Democrats want to make their citizens as miserable as possible. And Whitmer is an expert at this. It was Whitmer who kept businesses shut down for months while she encouraged leftists to protest in the streets. It was also Whitmer and her family who tried to cut in line before Michiganders to get their boat in the water after they banned motorboating for weeks! And it was Whitmer whose government sent sick seniors back to nursing homes to spread the virus in her state’s most vulnerable communities.

As we reported earlier, Big Ten Commissioner Kevin Warren, shut down Big Ten football for the season a few weeks ago. The Commissioner in May besmirched the police after George Floyd’s death in Minneapolis. Then he addressed the Big Ten’s fall sports season.

The universities in the Big Ten make millions on college football which ends up paying for smaller sports and women’s sports for the rest of the year.  Big Ten football brings in millions to local businesses as well.  But after sending out the league’s schedule, Warren suddenly decided a few days later to ‘postpone’ all sports (to God knows when) through the remainder of the year.

ESPN reported:

The Big Ten has faced significant backlash over the timing of the decision, which came just six days after the league announced its 10-game, conference-only schedule on the Big Ten Network. Coaches, athletic directors, fans and parents have publicly and privately expressed frustration and outrage at a lack of communication and explanation about the about-face.

Warren claimed he cancelled Big Ten football because of the coronavirus. But this doesn’t make sense. As we pointed out, the CDC shows that the athletes in the Big Ten are not at risk of dying from the Coronavirus at all. They are more likely to drown!

Look at the line for the number of deaths related to those under the age of 24 (for the Big Ten Commissioner and Chancellors this would be every single football player in the Big Ten).

There’s a question as to whether there was even a vote on ending sports for the year by the Big Ten a few weeks ago:

According to Dennis Dodd of CBS Sports, Penn State athletic director Sandy Barbour questioned whether any sort of vote on the whole sordid deal took place. And it’s not just her. Minnesota president Joan Gabel also made comments alluding to the absence of any real vote.

It’s reported that every single athletic director in the Big Ten wanted to play fall football. Every single one, but they were not given a voice in the decision to play football – only Warren was, and he and the chancellors decided to kill the season!

We know Warren isn’t concerned about the Big Ten football players’ health because if he was Warren wouldn’t let his son play ball this year at Mississippi State in the SEC.

We’ve learned that Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar admitted to calling the University of Minnesota President to shut down the football season. Klobuchar even shared her conversation with the University president recently on FOX News.

Now it’s being reported that some of the teams in the Big Ten are working together to play football this year. Ohio State reporter Jeff Snook broke the following news last Tuesday:

Athletic Director Gene Smith, with the full support of school president-elect Kristina Johnson, has been working behind the scenes for the past six days to organize fellow Big Ten conference athletic directors in convincing at least five other university presidents to move forward with a 10-game season to be played among six teams, a source familiar with the movement told me today.

In this proposed format, each team would play the other five Big Ten teams who are participating twice — once at home and once on the road, beginning on either Sept. 26 or Oct. 3. The season would conclude by mid-December and there would no Big Ten title game in Indianapolis.

But Michigan’s Democrat Governor Gretchen Whitmer blocked this attempt to play Big Ten football.

Michigan is reportedly supposed to be one of the six schools involved in this plan, but Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, architect of one of the most severe COVID-19 lockdowns in the nation, is allegedly opposed to football in the state as things stand now.

“I also was also told that one roadblock to the new plan is the fact that Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer has been vehemently opposed to football being played—at the high school and college level – in the state this fall,” Snook reported.

Whitmer is on record in months past as saying there needs to be a widely available vaccine and mass quantities of tests available to determine when “we have some immunity built up.” The most optimistic estimates for when a vaccine might be available point to the end of the year.

Michigan is still limiting indoor gatherings to 10 or fewer people, and bars are are closed for indoor service. Outdoor gatherings are limited to 100 or fewer people.

Today it’s reported by Outkick.com that Whitmer is ‘glad’ Big Ten football is cancelled:

The Great Villianess of Big Ten fans everywhere, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, has officially spoken on the conference canceling fall football and is “glad” at the direction taken by her partner in villain crime, commissioner Kevin Warren.

“I was glad that the Big Ten took the leadership role that they did,” Whitmer told members of the media on Monday, MLive reports. “Obviously they’ve got huge universities and they’ve got people who are on all of these campuses that are working to try to address the COVID pandemic that we’re all struggling with.”

“Football is a very intimate sport where you are up in one another’s faces,” Whitmer added. “That’s what makes it inherently risky, so that’s my concern. I love football. I wanted to be a sports broadcaster. I don’t like not seeing football this fall, but I’m glad that the Big Ten took the leadership they did and the (Michigan) High School Sports Association did as well.”

Let’s cut to the chase here: she’s GLAD the Big Ten season is canceled. She’s glad her villain friend Kevin Warren stepped up and made it happen and this will not be forgotten down the road when it comes time for political allies to scratch each other’s backs.

We weren’t sure who was behind shutting down Big Ten football.

It looks like Democrat politicians like Amy Klobuchar led the charge to kill all sports in the Big Ten for 2020 and Democrats like Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer are trying to keep it that way.

They don’t give a damn about anyone or anything but themselves.

Woman Targeted by BLM Activists Speaks Out About the ‘Attack’

A viral video shows a large group of mostly white people towering over a woman who was dining at an outdoor restaurant in Washington, DC, earlier this week, calling her names and demanding that she show support for Black Lives Matter by raising her fist.

But Lauren Victor, an urban planner who said she has supported and even taken part in protests, did not comply.

Victor told the Washington Post, “I felt like I was under attack.”

The Post reported that the mob was chanting, “No Justice, No Peace,” and, “Fire, fire, gentrifier — black people used to live here.”

The Daily Mail reported on the backlash BLM activists got for intimidating people who were trying to eat a meal:

Ironically, Victor is a supporter of the Black Lives Matter movement and has participated in many marches, but didn’t want to be ‘coerced’ into showing support.

‘In the moment, it didn’t feel right,’ she stated. ‘I wasn’t actually frightened. I didn’t think they’d do anything to me. I’m very much with them. I’ve been marching with them for weeks and weeks and weeks.’

She said she felt that it was wrong for hundreds of people to surround a small group of diners, approach them with their hands raised, and try to cow them into making a show of support.

The video of the incident shows the mob intimidating other diners, including young children, demanding they raise their fists to show solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement.

Donald Trump Jr.: DNC Was like an ‘I Hate America Zoom Call’

Last week’s Democratic National Convention (DNC) resembled an “I Hate America Zoom call,” Donald Trump Jr. told host Joel Pollak on SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Daily on Thursday.

Trump Jr. described the Republican National Convention (RNC) as “an amazing couple of days.” He added, “You’re seeing the American Dream play out for you on a stage. The Democrats [are] the ones that are known for putting on these glitzy Hollywood-produced shows, but I guess ever since Harvey Weinstein went to prison, they’ve just lost a little bit of their flair.”

Trump Jr. described some of the RNC’s featured speakers as illustrative of the American Dream. He said, “Max Alvarez, Vernon Jones, Burgess Owens [shared] incredible stories [of] living the American Dream, stories that could only happen in America.

Democrats’ view of America is reminiscent of anti-Americanism pushed by foreign enemies, Trump Jr. assessed.

“Compare and contrast [the RNC] to what I saw last week, which [was] like literally a week-long I Hate America Zoom call. It looked like my kids’ kindergarten class. No flair, no nothing. It was basically, ‘If you like anything about your country, you’re a racist. If you like anything about America, you’re a terrible person.’ It was disgusting. It’s the kind of convention you would have seen in Iran talking about America, not America talking about America.”

LISTEN:

Trump Jr. said that the RNC’s fourth evening, Thursday, will continue with the theme of the American Dream, celebration of America as a “land of opportunity,” and “it’s okay to love America.”

Pollak praised the production quality of the RNC thus far. He asked, “Tell us the secret behind this. Everyone’s wondering who put this together? How did the RNC create such impressive visuals of the president, such great lighting at Fort McHenry last night? How did the Republican Party and the Trump campaign throw together this incredible production on such short notice?”

Trump Jr. replied, “We did this in four days. The reality is we have people that know what they’re doing. My father’s a big part of that. He understands his visuals. He understands objects. He’s a builder. He’s built a great brand about luxury. .. Being able to package something is not that hard. It’s not that difficult. You just have to put in an effort. The Democrats put in no effort. It’s almost as though they weren’t even trying to win over people.”
