After 92 Days of Rioting Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler Calls on Citizens to Rise Up Against Rioters

Black Lives Matter and Antifa anarchists have been ransacked Portland, Oregon for 92 straight days now.

The downtown will never be the same. Several businesses and landmarks were destroyed and lives ruined.

It took Democrat Mayor Ted Wheeler 73 days to call out the violent rioters.

Clean up crews have collected 92,000 bags of trash this year following the nightly chaos.

Wednesday night, on the 92nd straight night of rioting, the leftist terrorists attack a local ICE facility again.

And on Wednesday Mayor Ted Wheeler called on Portlanders to rise up and denounce the violence taking place nightly in his city.

Wheeler asked for the city’s help to “rise up” with a collective voice.

He could have just called in the feds and National Guard weeks ago, ordered a curfew, and jailed the lawbreakers but that made too much sense.

This is peak Democrat rule. We are seeing similar situations play out across the country where Democrat led communities are under attack.

Virginia Senate Passes Bill Making Assault on Police a Misdemeanor with Possibility of No Jail Time

The Virginia Senate passed legislation Wednesday that would demote assaulting a police officer from a felony to a misdemeanor and would remove a mandatory jail sentence for the crime.

Virginia’s upper chamber voted 21-15 to approve Senate Bill 5032 during the current Virginia General Assembly special session, WSLS first reported.

According to the legislation’s summary, it would “[eliminate] the mandatory minimum term of confinement for an assault and battery committed against a judge; magistrate; law-enforcement officer; correctional officer; person directly involved in the care, treatment, or supervision of inmates; firefighter; or volunteer firefighter or any emergency medical services personnel and provides that such crime can no longer be committed as a simple assault and must result in a bodily injury.”

Meanwhile, a bill to ban police-free “CHOP” zones as seen in Democrat-run cities like Seattle was voted down by a Virginia Senate committee, Virginia Mercury News reported. The Republican-sponsored bill was shot down by a vote of 5-8, with one Democrat lawmaker branding it “the most useless piece of legislation I’ve ever seen.”

“I’ll bring some T-shirts for our committee that say ‘Virginia is for CHOP zones,’” Republican State Sen. Bill Stanley quipped after the failed vote.

However Democrat Sen. Joe Morrissey backed the bill, saying: “That seems to me as reasonable and practical and purposeful as breathing oxygen. Why wouldn’t we do that?”

“I Don’t Think There Should Be Any Debates” Says Pelosi, Calling Them An “Exercise In Skullduggery”

"I Don’t Think There Should Be Any Debates" Says Pelosi, Calling Them An "Exercise In Skullduggery"

Tyler Durden

Thu, 08/27/2020 – 15:35

Nancy Pelosi has just joined the chorus of prominent Democrats trying desperately to avoid placing Joe Biden in front of the proverbial firing squad in a debate with President Trump.

"I don’t think that there should be any debates," Pelosi said on Thursday, one day after President Trump demanded Biden take a drug test before the two square off.

"I wouldn’t legitimize a conversation with him – nor a debate in terms of the presidency of the United States," she added.

Pelosi said that Trump was "disgraceful" when he ‘stalked’ Hillary Clinton during the 2016 debate by walking near her, and that he will probably "act in a way that is beneath the dignity of the presidency."

"I think he will also belittle what the debates are supposed to be about. And they’re not to be about skulduggery on the part of somebody who has no respect for the office he holds, much less the democratic process.

"I don’t think that he should dignify that conversation with Donald Trump."

Pelosi then suggested that each candidate could hold separate ‘conversations’ with voters, saying: "Let that be a conversation with the American people, not an exercise in skulduggery."

Watch:

Pelosi is far from the first Democrat trying to avoid a Trump-Biden debate. As Rick Moran wrote via PJMedia earlier this month:

*  *  *

Democrats around the country have begun to pressure the Biden campaign to call off all debates with Donald Trump due to the coronavirus pandemic, they say.

In truth, the reason they don’t want Biden to debate Trump is that they don’t think Trump will play by their rules. The president would take over the debate and make it about what he wants, not what Biden wants.

Democrats are also worried about Biden’s mental stamina and his ability to remain engaged for an hour and a half during a debate.

Newsweek:

Democratic strategists and supporters of Vice President Joe Biden are urging him not to debate President Donald Trump in the lead-up to Election Day, citing Trump’s publicity stunts and disregard for the rules in 2016. Meanwhile Biden backers, including some conservatives, applauded the University of Notre Dame and the University of Michigan for cancelling their scheduled debates over COVID-19 concerns.

Former White House Press Secretary Joe Lockhart joined several Democratic Party strategists in bluntly advising Biden, “whatever you do, don’t debate Trump.” Speaking on CNN Saturday, Lockhart said Trump shouldn’t be given another platform which will enable him to “repeat lies,” which he said occurred in the 2016 debates against Hillary Clinton.

Trump has a knack for exaggeration and hyperbole that Democrats don’t like. It’s very effective in debates and Biden would spend most of his time on the defensive.

An NBA so woke it cancels itself

Deciding to go Colin Kaepernick one better, the NBA’s Milwaukee Bucks players decided to cancel their playoff game to protest the Kenosha, Wisconsin police shooting of Jacob Blake, a career criminal with a warrant out for 3rd degree sexual assault, who was resisting arrest. That act triggered racial grievance riots, along with lootings, destruction, and a likely permanent decline for Kenosha, as usually happens in riot-torn cities.

But the NBA didn’t want to leave it alone and let justice take its course.

Someone in the locker room of the Bucks suggested a game strike, and then the rest of them, lemmings-like, jumped onboard. The act was followed with at least five teams calling off their games, too, and two teams — the Clippers and Lakers of Los Angeles pulling out of the season entirely. Meanwhile, Kenny Smith a longtime TNT sports commentator walked off, and LeBron James, who plays for some other team, jumped in, too, effectively calling the walkout a political protest to Get Trump, declaring:

“Change starts in November.”

A former NAACP chief took it one further and attempted to pin the leftist violence itself on President Trump:

Which is a very good reason why this isn’t going to work.

It’s a naked political ploy and a very ineffective one at that. Half the audience is pro-Trump and a big chunk of the non-Trump audience is not interested in politics at all. That puts these players at odds with their audience, the people writiing their paychecks and giving them their applause. The idea of course is that fans will be so upset about the missing games that they will rise up and blame President Trump, voting for his pathetic challenger instead.

We know it won’t work because it hasn’t worked. When the NFL engaged in blatant politicking over their urge to disrespect the American flag to protest racism, fans tuned out, and NFL revenues and viewership went down.

And as for the NBA, its audience has been dropping even as it paints its courts with Black Lives Matter political sloganeering:

People watch sports events to be entertained, not to go to political rallies with a ball game on the side. That these players think they’re so important to fans that they can dispense with the playing the games that create their fame is a testiment to how out of touch they are. They want to be stars but they don’t want to play, they just want to be celebs famous for being famous. Which, to say the least, is unsustainable as the inevitable audience tuneout happens.

Here’s the other problem, noted by Zachary Faria at the Washington Examiner:

Never mind that Black Lives Matter started when Barack Obama was president, when officer-involved shootings were still happening, and that, unfortunately, they’ll still happen under Joe Biden if he’s elected president and still happen under whoever is president after that. Never mind that the police reform bill brought forward by Republican Sen. Tim Scott was torpedoed by uncompromising Democrats who would rather use police reform as a campaign promise instead of actually making progress.

In other words, the strike will achieve nothing and they will have to come crawling back to play ball if they want to play at all, except that much of their audience will be gone, dismissing them as either politically charged, or operationally unreliable.

Way to go, geniuses. And this business of firing the audience is preposterous too, because the audience already is leaving. Twitter is loaded with negative remarks from former fans saying they are through with the league.

Paul Mirengoff at Power Line expresses the sentiment of many very well:

Will the NBA playoffs continue? I couldn’t care less.

Victor Davis Hanson Answers the Ultimate Question About Riots – Here’s What’s Really Going On

It is hard to tell what the current revolutionary violence in our major cities is all about. So far, hundreds of police have been injured, dozens of people have been killed and we have seen billions of dollars in property and collateral damage. Ostensibly, many of the summer demonstrations were in protest over the gruesome…

Report: Even Google Engineers Are Confused by Platform’s Privacy Settings

Google doesn’t seem to understand privacy. Perhaps its employees need to Google it.
A recent lawsuit against Google included emails from employees claiming that the company’s privacy settings are so complicated, even its own engineers don’t fully understand them.
The consumer fraud suit, filed by the state of Arizona in May against Google, alleged that the tech giant has used “deceptive and unfair business practices to obtain information about the location of its users … .”
“Many Google services on Android devices and iPhones store your location data even if you’ve used a privacy setting that says it will prevent Google from doing so.” This report found that “even with Location History paused, some Google apps automatically store time-stamped location data without asking. (It’s possible, although laborious, to delete it,)” the Associated Press (AP) found in August of 2018.
The initial lawsuit was heavily redacted, according to the Arizona Mirror, but after a petition filed on August 3 by Digital Content Next, a trade association that represents digital content companies, a judge reportedly agreed to unseal more of the documents.
The new version of the lawsuit revealed a number of communications between Google employees after the AP article was published. “Indeed we aren’t very good at explaining this to users. Add me to the list of Googlers who didn’t understand how this worked an [sic] was surprised when I read the article . . . we shipped a UI that confuses users,” admitted one employee, according to Ars Technica. “I agree with the article. Location off should mean location off, not except for this case or that case,” claimed another.
Following the release of the AP report, Google “turned into crisis mode and held a self-styled ‘Oh Shit’ meeting in reaction to the story,” according to the suit. The company began to track media coverage of the story, finding that by the second day after the AP report broke, the story “was no longer on the list of top 10 trending stories across tech.”
A person should not need an advanced programing degree in order to simply avoid the watchful eye of Google, but this is not the first time that big tech companies tracked users without permission. Apple snuck COVID-19 contact tracing into a recent update, and Google launched similar contact tracing tech in April.  ….
Conservatives are under attack. Contact Google at 1-650-253-0000 and demand that the platform provide transparency: Companies need to design open systems so that they can be held accountable, while giving weight to privacy concerns. If you have been censored, contact us at the Media Research Center contact form, and help us hold Big Tech accountable.

Marxist New York City Mayor DeBlasio Says Restaurants May Open Their Indoor Dining “Next Year Sometime” (VIDEO)

New York City Mayor Bill DeBlasio announced this week indoor dining will be opening — sometime next year.

This one clown is destroying New York City.
That’s what you get when you vote in a Marxist.

Of course, there is nothing scientific about his plan.
But it will ruin New York City forever.

And don’t you dare ask the rest of the country for a bailout!

Without Knowing All the Facts, Basement Dweller Joe Biden Condemns Kenosha Police For Shooting Alleged Sex Offender Jacob Blake (VIDEO)

Basement dweller Joe Biden on Wednesday condemned Kenosha police officers for shooting alleged sex offender Jacob Blake.

Violence and riots erupted Sunday night in Kenosha, Wisconsin in response to an officer-involved shooting after Kenosha police responded to a domestic incident at a home.

The riots were in response to a video of the shooting in which the suspect, Jacob Blake, is seen ignoring officers and attempting to reach for something in his vehicle before being shot in the back multiple times.

The man who was shot, Jacob Blake, 29, is reportedly paralyzed from the waist down. He has a long history of run-ins with the law, including charges for sexual assault and domestic abuse.

New footage from another angle released earlier this week shows Jacob Blake brawling with police officers on the sidewalk before he was shot.

Democrat Governor Tony Evers and Wisconsin AG Josh Kaul refuse to tell reporters if Jacob Blake was reaching for a weapon prior to being shot by a police officer.

Joe Biden doesn’t even know all the facts, but he’s assuming the police officers were in the wrong because the perp is black.

“Once again, a Black man — Jacob Blake — was shot by the police. In front of his children. It makes me sick,” Biden said.

“Is this the country we want to be?” he added.

Is Andrew Cuomo Responsible For Thousands Of Nursing Home Deaths? The DoJ Is Trying To Find Out

Is Andrew Cuomo Responsible For Thousands Of Nursing Home Deaths? The DoJ Is Trying To Find Out

Tyler Durden

Wed, 08/26/2020 – 17:25

The DoJ is officially considering whether to launch high-profile federal investigations into a handful of mostly Democratic governors who adopted regulations requiring hospitals to return COVID-19 positive patients to nursing homes or other long-term care facilities, a blunder that has been described as perhaps the biggest policy error of the entire US outbreak.

Put another way – the DoJ (which Dems will undoubtedly castigate for ‘bowing to political pressure from the administration’) is trying to prove that Gov Andrew Cuomo really did kill grandma.

In a press release published Wednesday afternoon, the DoJ’s Civil Rights Division said it had requested data from New York, New Jersey, Michigan and Pennsylvania – all states with Democratic governors (though PA and MI are considered swing states) – about the timing of their mandatory return policies, and what input went into establishing them.

Cuomo has answered questions about the policy before; he’s claimed that he reversed it as soon as he was made aware of what was happening. But clearly not fast enough to stop the Empire State from reporting the largest death toll in the country, both per capita and in terms of the standalone total.

New York’s death rate by population is the second highest in the country with 1,680 deaths per million people. New Jersey’s death rate by population is 1,733 deaths per million people – the highest in the nation. In contrast, Texas’s death rate by population is 380 deaths per million people; and Texas has just over 11,000 deaths. According to Worldometer, NY reported a total of 32,984 deaths.

The goal is to determine whether there’s enough there to launch an investigation under the "Civil Rights of Institutionalized Persons Act" (CRIPA), which protects the civil rights of residents in state-run nursing homes. Specifically, they need to determine whether orders to mandate returning sick patients to the homes ultimately contributed to the higher rate of mortality.

Of course, even states like Texas, Florida and California, which are large states like New York, didn’t see such pronounced fatalities – or anything close to it. Those states are all in the ballpark of 10k deaths, and they only just reached that level recently.

Assistant Attorney General Eric Dreiband told the AP that the federal government has a responsibility to ensure that nursing home residents are adequately cared for with "dignity and respect", and that their lives aren’t put at undue risk.

Cuomo hasn’t said anything about Wednesday’s DoJ announcement – he’s been too busy grandstanding about the new CDC guidelines, which he – and a group of other Democratic governors – claimed was part of a plot by Trump to cover up the coronavirus pandemic…or something like that.

It’s not like New York and these other states ever cared about federal guidelines before? Why should they start now?
