Spoof video ruthlessly mocks woke Spotify employees trying to censor Joe Rogan’s podcast

A new video posted on YouTube mercilessly mocks the contingent of social justice warrior Spotify employees reportedly demanding "editorial" rights over Joe Rogan’s wildly famous podcast, "The Joe Rogan Experience."

What are the details?

The video, produced by comedian JP Sears, features Sears and fellow comedian, Brent Pella, pretending to be woke Spotify employees demanding company executives to allow them to edit and censor Rogan’s podcast.

Spotify Employees Censoring Joe Rogan youtu.be

Throughout the video, the two "employees" unwittingly rebuke their own claims with nonsensical explanations about how Rogan is transphobic, misogynistic, racist, anti-vegan, and the list goes on.

"He’s transphobic!" Sears exclaims. "He’s always talking about how he likes trans people, which means he doesn’t love trans people, which means he hates trans people."

"Hateful Joe Rogan has built a massive audience because people enjoy and respect what he and his guests have to say. But who knows better than his audience what they want to hear? We do!" Pella insists in jest.

The video even mocks the idea that Spotify should care about low-level staffers more than its million-dollar moneymaker. In May, Rogan signed a licensing agreement with Spotify worth more than $100 million.

"But the executives at Spotify won’t cater to our demands," Sears jokingly complains. "It’s almost like they value a $100 million asset more than they value a $49,000 asset!’

Rogan, who has laughed off the controversy, evidently got a kick out of the video and posted it on Twitter.

What’s the background?

The premise of the spoof video isn’t actually an exaggeration at all, though. Last week, news broke that a group of activist employees at Spotify did indeed demand editorial rights and threatened a "full-blown strike" if their demands were not met.

According to Digital Music News, who first reported on the matter, the demands included "the ability to directly edit or remove sections of upcoming interviews, or block the uploading of episodes deemed problematic" and "the ability to add trigger warnings, corrections, and references to fact-checked articles on topics discussed by Rogan in the course of his multi-hour discussions."

Reportedly, much of the backlash centered around a July episode of the podcast in which Rogan interviewed Wall Street Journal writer, Abigail Shrier, who recently authored a book titled, "Irreversible Damage: The Transgender Craze Seducing Our Daughters." During the episode, Shrier criticized the transgender movement for pressuring young girls into transitioning.

Responding to the news of a possible strike, Rogan defended his show and his right to free speech. He also took a swing at the activist employees, saying, "I get it, you’re a 23-year-old woke kid and you’re working for this company and you think you’re gonna put your foot down, I get it."

What else?

Sears, more than just finding the controversy comical, was outraged at the news that employees were attempting censor Rogan.

In a post on Instagram last week, Sears wrote: "This is the new book burning. Everything you read and see is being curated. Employees demanding direct ‘editorial’ oversight of the biggest podcast in the world should scare you. It has been happening for years on every social media outlet and it has to stop. Social media censorship needs to be addressed."

KLAVAN: Trump Diagnosis, Recovery Reveals America’s Two Competing Covid Myths

If you scroll through reams of text on the CDC page entitled “COVID-19 Pandemic Planning Scenarios” (and hoo boy, you really do have to scroll), you will find that the novel coronavirus kills those whom it infects at the following rates (the Infection Fatality Ratio): 19 years of age or younger: 0.003% chance of death […]

GAFFE ALERT: Where’s the Press on Biden’s ‘Some Black Woman’ Blunder?

Once again, Joe Biden has stuck his foot in his mouth and once again the liberal media are trying to hide it. In a September 15th town hall clip that is only now going viral, the Democratic presidential candidate said this about the pandemic:
The American public, the blinders have been taken off. They have all of a sudden seen a hell of a lot clearer. They say “Geeze, the reason I was able to stay sequestered in my home is because of some black woman was able to stack the grocery shelf.”
Here’s the video:

Though the video is three weeks old, it has only started to get traction in the last two days. Fox and Friends played the clip on Tuesday, but so far the networks have avoided the cringe-inducing comment. As FoxNews.com reported, Biden supporters are pointing to the larger context of the comments. But how often do journalists care about the context of what Donald Trump “meant” to say?
And this isn’t the first time Biden has made awkward racial gaffes. As conservative podcaster Rob Smith told Fox and Friends, “Over and over and over again the mainstream media protects Joe Biden from gaffes like this. This is not the first time. Remember ‘you ain’t black if you don’t vote for Joe Biden.’ Remember ‘poor kids are just as bright and talented as white kids.’”
And there’s more. Remember Biden’s slurs on Indian Americans from 2006? “You cannot go to a 7-11 or a Dunkin’ Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent….I’m not joking.”

For more on Biden’s history of racial (and other) gaffes and the media’s reluctance to cover them, see this NewsBusters study by Media Research Center Deputy Research Director Geoff Dickens.
Here’s a partial transcript from Tuesday’s Fox and Friends.

JOE BIDEN: The American public, the blinders have been taken off. They have all of a sudden seen a hell of a lot clearer. They say “Geeze, the reason I was able to stay sequestered in my home is because of some black woman was able to stack the grocery shelf.”
STEVE DOOCY: Why are we only noticing this particular sound bite three weeks after it happened.
ROB SMITH:: I will tell you what we are only noticed it because it was actively hidden by Twitter my Twitter account was one of the first ones to elevate this video. I quote tweeted. Donald Trump Jr. Retweeted this and this video got to over 2.1 million views in five hours before Twitter suspended the original account it came from. This is Twitter actively getting involved to protect Joe Biden in a Democrat presidential candidate. This is why we are not seeing stuff like this until now. But over and over and over again the mainstream media protects Joe Biden from gaffes like this. This is not the first time. Remember “you ain’t black if you don’t vote for Joe Biden.” Remember “poor kids are just as bright and talented as white kids.”

SMITH: Since it’s Joe Biden and the mainstream media is protecting him like they have for the past five months, probably the past nine to ten months we will hear absolutely nothing about that. And this is what this is all about.

Michelle Obama Does Extreme Mental Gymnastics on Protest Violence in Attack on Trump

Michelle Obama’s litany of lies keeps getting longer. The former first lady has a well-established reputation for twisting the truth to suit her political viewpoint — as the Daily Caller demonstrated again just last month — and finding racism where no one, including herself, had seen it before. But in a video shot on behalf…

Walter Williams: A Win in the Fight for Free Speech

The violence, looting and mayhem that this nation has seen over the last several months has much of its roots in academia, where leftist faculty teach immature young people all manner of nonsense that contradicts commonsense and the principles of liberty. Chief among their lessons is a need to attack free speech in the form…

BLM Co-Founder Rips Apart Joe Biden: He Is Part of the ‘Violent White Supremacist’ System

Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden might show public adoration for the Black Lives Matter movement, but the feeling is not reciprocated, at least not by some who align themselves with the group. The neo-Marxist organization’s battle cries and riots have had the tacit support of Biden, Democrats and the establishment media since late May. But there…

Snyder: Our Society Is In The Process Of Breaking Down All Around Us

Snyder: Our Society Is In The Process Of Breaking Down All Around Us

Tyler Durden

Tue, 10/06/2020 – 17:25

Authored by Michael Snyder via TheMostImportantNews.com,

Have you noticed that people don’t treat one another with the same level of respect and civility that they once did?  Everywhere I look, people are treating one another badly, and this should greatly alarm all of us.  Perhaps we can blame some of this on the pandemic, because the restrictions that authorities have implemented around the nation have definitely put people in a bad mood.  And of course the fact that this is an election year is certainly not helping things.  But I am seeing people that are supposedly on the same side treating each other with extreme contempt.  Conservatives are fighting with conservatives, liberals are fighting with liberals, Christians are fighting with Christians, and over the past year I have been seeing families break up all over the place.  Hearts are growing so cold, and all of the strife and discord that we are witnessing makes me wonder what things will be like when economic conditions in this nation really start falling apart.

There is so much anger and frustration in the air right now, and we are definitely seeing this being reflected in the crime numbers.  For example, it is being reported that burglaries in San Francisco have risen 42 percent so far this year…

In San Francisco, burglaries are up 42% in the first 9 months of this year, compared to the same time period in 2019. In the Northern District, which includes Pacific Heights, the Marina, North Beach, and Cow Hollow, it’s up 59%. In the Mission, 79% and in the Richmond up 50%.

In some neighborhoods, the same criminals are returning over and over again, and things have gotten so bad that one local resident recently admitted that she “cannot sleep at night anymore”

Thieves are returning to the same homes and neighborhoods within the same week, sometimes only one day apart.

“It’s a big wave of crime right now. it’s home burglaries and this is scary. I cannot sleep at night anymore,” said Iryna Gorb.

I can’t even imagine what it must be like lying in bed wondering if this will be the night when the burglars will return again.

In addition to home invasions, San Francisco is seeing an alarming number of stores being hit as well

And it’s not just happening to homes. Video from a Pacific Heights’ Food Market a week and a half ago shows a suspect’s seen setting up a blow torch on the store’s glass.

When it doesn’t budge, he comes back and tries a throwing a planter to break in.

We are seeing similar scenes play out all over America on a nightly basis these days, and it is only going to get worse in the months ahead.

Over on the east coast, New York City has also seen a 42 percent rise in burglaries so far in 2020, and the number of shootings is up 91 percent

Year-to-date, there has been a 91% spike in citywide shooting incidents, a 42% increase in burglaries and a 33% decrease in hate crimes.

Considering the fact that hundreds of thousands of people have already moved out of New York City, there shouldn’t be that many people left to shoot, but these are the numbers that authorities are giving us.

And sometimes people are being murdered without a gun being used at all.  I have to admit that I was greatly disturbed when I recently heard what happened to one man on a Manhattan subway platform

A man has died after he was repeatedly stabbed in the legs following a dispute on a lower Manhattan subway station in New York City on Saturday, officials revealed.

The attack unfolded just before 3pm on the northbound J/Z train platform in Chambers Street Station, near to City Hall, where the victim, in his 20s, had been ensnared in an argument with another man, said to be in his 30s.

How cold does your heart have to be to attack someone like that?

Sadly, acts of extreme violence are happening in our major cities so frequently now that they barely make a blip in the news.  In the middle of the country, murders and shootings in Chicago are both up over 50 percent in 2020, and it is being reported that “dozens of children” under the age of 10 have been shot over the last nine months…

The Windy City – like others across the country – has seen an uptick in violent crimes this summer amid the coronavirus pandemic, mass layoffs and nationwide unrest. Murders and shootings are up 52% from the same time last year, according to police data, and dozens of children under 10 years old have been shot, some fatally.

This is what America has become.

We have become a place where children under the age of 10 are being shot on a regular basis.

Most of us depend on the police to protect us from this sort of violence, but they are being shot on a regular basis too.  Here is just one example that was in the news today

A shooting over the weekend left one Myrtle Beach police officer dead and another injured, according to a news release from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.

The officers were responding to a domestic violence call Saturday night. Authorities say shots were exchanged between them and a suspect after a confrontation.

The thin veneer of civilization that we all take for granted on a daily basis is steadily disappearing, and it isn’t just happening in the big cities.

Some of the worst crimes of all are happening in less populated areas, and if you doubt this just check out this example.

For decades, we have been raising children in an environment in which traditional moral values have been relegated to the fringes of society, and so we should not be surprised that our society is now literally coming apart at the seams all around us.

And if you think what we have experienced so far is bad, just wait until we get a few more years down the road.

Chaos and violence in our streets has become the norm, and our society now teaches us that it is perfectly okay to hate one another.

Treating others the way that you want to be treated is such a simple concept, but it works.

Unfortunately, most of the population has rejected the simple values that once united our nation, and so our society will continue to fall apart all around us as we plunge into a deeply uncertain future.

Loudoun County Schools Revise Speech Policy After Teachers’ Union Blowback

The Loudoun County Public Schools district will revise a proposed speech policy, which would have prohibited teachers from criticizing the district’s racial equity plan, following backlash from the teachers’ union and a Washington Free Beacon report.

Leadership from the Loudoun Education Association, the district’s largest teachers’ union, told the Free Beacon that a school board member plans to take the speech policy off of the upcoming board meeting itinerary, effectively stalling any vote. This change will allow the human resources department to "revise and review" the policy that, as currently written, prohibits employees from criticizing the school district’s "commitment to action-oriented equity practices" in all forms of public and personal communication.

Loudoun Education Association president Sandy Sullivan held a meeting with Loudoun County school board administrators and human resources on Monday to discuss the union’s concerns about the policy. After the meeting, Sullivan said the policy’s planned implementation appears to be less rigid than what the text of the policy indicates, though she feels strongly that the language should be revised to accurately portray the district’s expectations.

"Going through a conversation with [the school board], it sounded like the policy seems not as harsh as it was at first reading," Sullivan said. "It needs to be clear that people shouldn’t have to ask questions to understand what the policy means. Employees should be able to pick up the policy and read it and understand what the expectations are."

Teachers were upset with the policy proposal, which prompted immediate concerns from the union. Sullivan told the Free Beacon she wanted "to make sure employees can speak freely without repercussions," which is not what the policy in its current form permits.

Following the resurgence of the Black Lives Matter movement, approximately 4,500 classrooms across the country are teaching some form of critical race theory or the New York Times‘s 1619 Project, both of which present the American founding as intrinsically racist. If the proposed speech code is passed, Loudoun County would be one of the first school districts nationwide to codify critical theory into public policy, rather than just incorporating it into teaching materials.

Parents are also speaking out against the new policy proposals. A group called Parents Against Critical Theory (PACT) created a website that highlights the Free Beacon‘s reporting on the school district’s $422,500 equity training spending haul and its collaboration with the Southern Poverty Law Center to create a "social justice" curriculum and "Comprehensive Equity Plan."

Scott Mineo, who runs the PACT website, told the Free Beacon that parents are worried that even if the policy is altered or voted down, it won’t be enough to deter "radical" administrators. "The board and the superintendent have already passed this ‘Comprehensive Racial Equity’ plan unanimously. Even if this proposal to punish teachers fails, I don’t think for a minute that they don’t have something else radical and unconstitutional up their sleeves," Mineo said.

According to City Journal writer Christopher Rufo, an elite law firm has said that it will represent teachers who want to fight the policy in the event it does pass. Rufo said the law firm has spoken with potential plaintiffs but told the Free Beacon that there are no new updates at this time.

Gun-Rights Group Sues Philly Over Massive Permit Backlog

A gun-rights group accused the Philadelphia Police Department of illegally forcing residents to wait up to 18 months to apply for a gun-carry permit in a lawsuit.

Gun Owners of America (GOA) said the city has infringed on the rights of local residents by ignoring a Pennsylvania law that requires localities to process applications within 45 days. Val Finnel, the group’s Pennsylvania director, said the lengthy wait times actively harm locals who are seeking to exercise their Second Amendment rights.

"They’re essentially denying the right to defend yourself," Finnel told the Washington Free Beacon.

The GOA acknowledged the strain that Covid-19 had placed on government agencies, but said the delays—some stretching into 2022—were unprecedented in the region. While some Pennsylvania cities and counties moved the permitting process online or through the mail to accommodate a surge in gun sales, Philadelphia authorities have made no attempt to abide by state law. Finnel pointed to neighboring Bucks County, which has managed to process applications on a walk-in basis without any of the delays Philadelphia residents face.

"If they say they can delay receiving the application, then they can delay it indefinitely," Finnel said. "Our argument is a right delayed is a right denied."

A spokesman for the Philadelphia Police Department declined comment on the pending litigation.

The department has taken action on some appointments. After the Free Beacon published a piece on the months-long waits experienced by some Philadelphia residents, the department reached out to two residents to speed up the process. James Tordella, a medical supply salesman, and Temple Law School alum Jude Joanis saw their appointments moved from January 2021 to October 2020 shortly after their ordeal was first published.

Chris Gonzalez, a south Philadelphia insurance salesman, has not had the same luck. He still has not been able to even talk to anyone in the department to schedule any appointment despite repeated attempts.

"Every time I call, I can never get someone on the line," he told the Free Beacon. "It’s a joke."

The GOA suit, which was filed in state court, includes 10 other residents who are not allowed to turn in their applications for months. Two of the defendants have been told they will have to wait until 2022 for an appointment, according to the suit. Finnel said the situation is simply unacceptable.

"They have to figure out a way, like everybody else, of how to handle the problem with COVID going on," he said.

The gun-rights group is asking the court to force the city to accept applications in a timely manner and abide by the 45-day limit for the application process. Finnel said the group hopes a ruling against Philadelphia could be used as precedent for ensuring other Pennsylvania localities do not try and sidestep state law when issuing gun-carry permits.
