North Korea Nuclear Progress Puts Iran on Renewed Pathway to Bomb

U.S. officials are closely monitoring an ongoing meeting between senior North Korean and Iranian officials that comes on the heels of a nuclear test by Pyongyang, according to senior Trump administration officials and other sources who expressed concern that North Korea is helping to put the Islamic Republic back on the pathway to a functional nuclear weapon.

Sources told the Washington Free Beacon that Pyongyang continues to stockpile illicit nuclear material on Iran’s behalf in order to help the Islamic Republic skirt restrictions implemented under the landmark nuclear deal.

North Korea’s latest nuclear test of a hydrogen bomb has roiled Trump administration officials and led President Donald Trump to consider multiple options for war. However, it also has renewed fears among U.S. officials and foreign policy insiders about Pyongyang’s long-standing relationship with Iran, which centers on providing the Islamic Republic with nuclear technology and know-how.

The head of North Korea’s parliament arrived this weekend in Iran for a 10-day visit aimed at boosting ties between the two countries amid an international crackdown on Pyongyang’s nuclear weapons program, a situation U.S. officials tell the Free Beacon is being closely monitored.

As North Korea makes progress in its nuclear pursuits, it is likely this information is being shared with senior Iranian officials who continue to maintain and build upon the country’s weapons program, despite the nuclear agreement, which only limits a portion of Iran’s nuclear enrichment and research abilities.

One senior U.S. official currently handling the Iranian and North Korean nuclear portfolios told the Free Beacon that the collaboration between these two countries is being closely monitored by the Trump administration, which will not hesitate to take action to disrupt this relationship.

"The history of collaboration between North Korea and Iran has been an ongoing concern and needs to be watched closely," the official told the Free Beacon. "We’ve been laboring under the false assumption that these oppressive regimes are rational and that we can persuade them to act for the greater good. President Trump has made it clear those days are at an end, and that the United States will do what is necessary to prevent Iran from turning into another North Korea."

Iran and North Korea have long collaborated on their missile programs and nuclear technology, and the U.S. intelligence community continues to monitor ongoing efforts by the two countries to boost cooperation.

Kim Yong Nam, the head of North Korea’s parliament, reportedly arrived in Iran on Thursday for a high-profile meeting with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani that is likely to center around Tehran’s quest for technology and North Korea’s need for hard currency and financial assets.

Iran has been flush with cash and other financial assets since the nuclear agreement lifted international sanctions and opened the Islamic Republic to new business ties.

Rep. Ron DeSantis (R., Fla.), a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and the National Security Subcommittee, told the Free Beacon that the increased ties are cause for concern, particularly in light of Iran’s renewed economic success.

"Given that Kim Jong Un is a plump, immature kid who only rules because of accident of birth, it is not clear that he can, through traditional means, be deterred from commencing an attack against the United States using his nuclear arsenal," DeSantis told the Free Beacon. "What is completely clear is that Kim is willing to transfer nuclear technology to, and assist with nuclear development for, rogue regimes such as Iran."

"Thanks to the Obama-Khamenei nuclear deal, Iran is flush with cash and has the capacity to be a willing buyer for nuclear material," DeSantis said. "This represents a major threat to the United States and should be taken seriously."

North Korea’s latest nuclear test has sparked a fierce war of words with the Trump administration, which announced on Monday that it is considering a range of military options.

United Nation’s Ambassador Nikki Halley said that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is "begging for war" and urged the U.N.’s Security Council to consider a strong response.

"Enough is enough," Haley was quoted as saying. "War is never something the United States wants. We don’t want it now. But our country’s patience is not unlimited."

Israeli officials also have warned that North Korea’s latest test is a boon to Iran’s own nuclear program.

"The international response, led by the U.S., to the North Korean regime’s provocations, sheds light on how it will behave toward the Iranian regime on their nuclear efforts in the near future," Moshe Ya’alon, a former Israeli defense minister, tweeted. "Although the nuclear test is not our issue, the tension should concern us."

Iran and North Korea have been sharing nuclear materials and know-how for well over a decade, according to sensitive intelligence community communications published by WikiLeaks and dating as far back as 2009.

The Obama administration took little action during its time in office to thwart this growing alliance, leading to increased nuclear ties between Iran and North Korea, multiple sources said.

In order to comply with the nuclear agreement, Iran outsourced much of its nuclear technology to North Korea, according to multiple sources, who pointed to evidence of a key 2015 meeting between the two countries surrounding the nuclear portfolio.

Iran also has opened ballistic missile factories in Syria with the help of Russia and North Korea, according to regional reports.

"North Korea and Iran’s military and political ties are long-standing, and can be traced back to the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq War, the same time that Tehran developed an interest in nuclear and missile technology," said Behnam Ben Taleblu, an Iran analyst at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies.

"North Korea’s provision of the Nodong-A liquid fueled medium-range ballistic missile to Iran in the 1990s enabled the mullahs to make significant strides in the missile program and eventually even their satellite launch-vehicle technology," Ben Taleblu explained.

"While some may see the long-standing missile relationship as merely evidence of the two countries’ interest in conventional munitions, these missiles are capable of carrying nuclear payloads, and offer both rogues the ultimate deterrent weapon with which to ensure regime survival," he said.

Iranian officials and scientists have been spotted at several of North Korea’s key nuclear test, fueling speculation that the two countries are in close contact on the issue.

"What is almost certain, however, is the following: both in the post- and pre-JCPOA [or Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, the formal name for the Iran deal] era, the two closely watched how each one negotiated with the international community, what deals it struck, the lies that worked and didn’t work, and where and how it could supplement resolve for material capability," Ben Taleblu said.

Michael Rubin, a former Pentagon adviser and expert on rogue regimes, further told the Free Beacon that it is suspected North Korean officials played a role in helping Iran recently test fire a series of ballistic missiles, which sparked international outrage and accusations the Islamic Republic is violating legally binding bans on such behavior.

"For those who want to deny the links between Pyongyang and Tehran, it’s easy so long as they ignore their military, diplomatic, and economic ties," Rubin said. "It’s doubtful there has been a single Iranian missile test where North Korean scientists weren’t present, nor a North Korean test where Iranian scientists didn’t have a front row seat."

One veteran congressional foreign policy adviser who works on the Iran portfolio told the Free Beacon that efforts to promote a new North Korean nuclear deal in the same vein as the Iran agreement are fruitless, and would only strengthen Pyongyang’s appetite to publicly test its nuclear weaponry.

"The same people who sold the Iran deal are now trying to sell what they call an ‘Iran deal for North Korea,’" the source said. "It’s the same groups, the same people, and the same playbook. Up until this weekend’s nuclear test, they were telling journalists that diplomacy has time to work, that North Korea is still years away from an H-Bomb, and—of course—that additional pressure would lead to war."

"Now, all at once, their narratives about Iran and North Korea are both colliding with reality," the source added. "The cost for American national security is staggering."

Rubin went on to describe the North Korean stand-off as a glimpse into future situations with Iran.

"North Korea is a crystal ball into the future of the Iranian nuclear agreement, and the current diplomatic behavior in which there will be no support for inspections, which risk finding Iran in violation and imperiling the agreement, fits the pattern to a ‘T,’" Rubin said. "In addition, one of the biggest holes to which the Obama administration agreed was not recognizing that Iranian nuclear work doesn’t necessarily take place in Iran."

Feminists Launch Attack on “The Big Bang Theory” for Ridiculous Reason

Advertisement – story continues below

Radical feminists have an innate ability to find fault with anything they can potentially attack as “sexist” or “misogynistic,” and their most recent target was the wildly popular sitcom “The Big Bang Theory.”

The show, which revolves around the everyday lives of scientists and their geeky shenanigans, has been attacked by “feminist ally” Jonathan McIntosh as the “perfect embodiment” of “the adorkable misogynist.”

“Adorkable misogynists are male characters whose geeky version of masculinity is framed as both comically pathetic and endearing,” McIntosh said about the sitcom in a YouTube video. “And it’s their status as nerdy nice guys that then lets them off the hook for a wide range of creepy, entitled, and downright sexist behaviors.”

Advertisement – story continues below

In particular, the feminist accused the characters of promoting “harassing, entitled, and sexist behavior where women are concerned.”

“They consistently stalk, spy on, lie to, and try to manipulate the women in their lives,” he argued. “They’re overbearing, they refuse to take ‘no’ for an answer, and they often ignore the basic tenets of consent.”

No, the characters on the popular sitcom are not perfect, but that’s what makes the show relatable to so many people of every gender, race and political persuasion. In fact, the characters were written to purposely poke fun at the typical Hollywood stereotype about “geeks” and “nerds.”

Advertisement – story continues below

McIntosh, however, indicated that the show wasn’t simply a humorous outlet, but rather kept its audience “sympathetic to men who behave in such reprehensible ways.”

He then goes on to slam the show for making fun of men who are not “traditionally masculine” — so, now the men who were “sexist” and “misogynistic” are now apparently the victims in this scenario.

The show’s message, he argued, was “sexism is mostly harmless – and especially when that sexism is coming from geeky guys.”

The Mary Sue’s Marykate Jasper took that argument a step further, saying the show promoted behavior that allows men to “push women out of politics, out of certain industries, and off of social media platforms.”

But, this wasn’t the first time feminists came out in full force against a character on the show — except in 2015 it was the female lead who was their target.

In a Redbook magazine interview, Kaley Cuoco explained why she doesn’t consider herself a “feminist.”

“It’s not really something I think about. Things are different now, and I know a lot of the work that paved the way for women happened before I was around… I was never that feminist girl demanding equality,” she said.

Of course, being a female and not being a feminist is the ultimate sin in the eyes of feminists, so they wasted no time attacking her.

That’s because radical feminists aren’t really interested in solving the problems they perceive in our society, but rather are more concerned with making up problems that aren’t really there and forcing everyone to agree with them.

Breaking: Trump Ends DACA, With 1 Catch

Advertisement – story continues below

The Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program — one of Barack Obama’s signature executive orders protecting illegal immigrants in the United States — will be repealed by President Donald Trump on Tuesday, sources told Fox News.

However, there’s a catch to the president’s action: he’s going to leave the program in place for six months so that Congress can find a solution.

The program, which was signed by President Obama back in July of 2012, allowed individuals — colloquially known as “Dreamers” — who were in this country illegally but who had been brought here as children to remain in the country via a renewable two-year deportation deferral. Individuals covered under the program could also obtain a work permit.

Advertisement – story continues below

The president had mixed feelings on DACA, which he publicly aired. In February, the Los Angeles Times reported that the administration had already drafted an executive order repealing Obama’s initiative. However, in a press conference that same month, Trump indicated he had issues with repealing the order

“DACA is a very, very difficult subject for me,” President Trump said, promising to handle the issue “with heart.… It’s one of the most difficult subjects I have because you have these incredible kids.”

According to Politico, the president eventually decided with repealing the order after consulting with Attorney General Jeff Sessions. In their conversations, Sessions convinced the president that it was Congress’ job to set immigration policy, not the executive branch’s.

Advertisement – story continues below

While White House Chief of Staff John Kelly is quoted as saying that he “thinks Congress should’ve gotten its act together a lot longer ago” on DACA, they now have a six-month window to do something about it.

This is going to infuriate a lot of members of the left. The modus operandi of the Democrat Party is to stonewall the Trump administration at every turn, refusing to work with either the White House or congressional Republicans. Now, the president is insisting that immigration policy be set through Congress — as it should have been since the beginning.

So, there’s the Hobson’s choice: either work with Republicans on a more modest version of DACA, or have the Republicans do it on their own. Should it be the latter, they run the risk of DACA being repealed entirely and putting the 800,000 individuals protected by it at risk for deportation.

Of course, were this passed by Congress in the first place — instead of via the pen and phone of our former president — we wouldn’t be talking about this. Alas, this is what happens when presidents enact things by fiat: they tend to discover that what can be done by their caprice can just as easily be undone by their successor.

Utah nurse arrested by police officer tells her side of the story: ‘I was scared to death’

Alex Wubbels, the Utah hospital nurse who was forcibly arrested for disobeying unconstitutional police orders, spoke to CNN’s “New Day” anchor Alisyn Camerota on Monday and told her side of the story that shook the nation.

Wubbels was arrested in July after she refused to provide blood samples of an unconscious motor vehicle accident victim to a Salt Lake City police officer.

Wubbels’ disturbing arrest: What happened?

Salt Lake City detective and police phlebotomist Jeff Payne was filmed during the July 26 incident both assaulting and arresting Wubbels after she refused to provide him with vials of blood drawn from the patient.

According to reports, Payne didn’t have a warrant to obtain the patient’s blood, the patient’s consent, or even probable cause to draw it.

Lacking the adherence to any of those guidelines, Payne was constitutionally barred from drawing or obtaining the blood samples.

When Wubbels refused to bend to the detective’s demands, he forcibly restrained her, placed her in handcuffs, and required her to sit in a hot police cruiser for 20 minutes, according to reports.

Wubbels was later released and was not charged with a crime.

Wubbels’ side of the story

Wubbels told Camerota that she was “scared to death” during the altercation, but stuck to her guns, saying that she would not allow a patient’s privacy to be abused.

Wubbels told Camerota that Payne did reveal why she was being arrested as she was being handcuffed and hauled off to the waiting police car.

“I can’t speak for Officer Payne,” Wubbels said, “but what I can say is I stood my ground. I stood what was right, which was to protect the patient. As a nurse — any nurse — would have done exactly what I did.”

Wubbels told Camerota that she was “scared to death” during the altercation.

“I was obviously very frightened, and I think since this has happened I’ve been able to sort of surmise that I feel betrayed,” she said. “I feel betrayed by the police officers, I feel betrayed by the university police and security.”

When Camerota asked Wubbels why she felt betrayed by hospital security, Wubbels revealed that she had called security preemptively, as she believed Payne to be hostile from the outset.

“I went down into the emergency room to get help, to have someone protect me, because I felt unsafe from Officer Payne from the beginning,” she admitted.

She noted that Payne was “aggressive” from the start.

“As a nurse, it’s my job to assess a situation,” Wubbels explained, “and my assessment skills led me to believe that Officer Payne was already agitated. He had already stormed off in disapproval when I had originally told him he couldn’t do [take the patient’s blood] up on the unit itself.”

Wubbels said that Payne was set off when she initially explained that he had no just cause to obtain the blood.

“Unless the patient was under arrest, I needed to have an electronic warrant,” she explained. “There was no family, and the patient could not consent for himself, and I [told him] ‘I’m sorry.’ “

Wubbels told Camerota that Payne fired back and said, “You’re not sorry,” and stormed off.

“This is not OK,” she concluded.

Payne’s fate

Initially, Payne was only suspended from the Salt Lake City’s blood-drawing unit after the July incident, and was allowed to remain on active police duty.

However, the Salt Lake City Tribune reported on Friday that Payne and unnamed another officer were placed on administrative leave, pending a full investigation of the incident.

The footage became public Thursday during a news conference by Wubbels’ attorney, Karra Porter, who said no claim or lawsuit has been filed.

Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill announced that he’s explored the possibility of opening a criminal investigation into the incident.

Gill on Friday said, “On the face of the evidence, there is concern that is raised about this officer’s conduct. But the whole point of an investigation is to gather the information about this situation.”

Violent Mob Forces Police to Shut Down ‘Patriot Picnic’ at Chicano Park

Violent Mob Forces Police to Shut Down ‘Patriot Picnic’ at Chicano Park

4 Sep, 2017
4 Sep, 2017

An explosive confrontation erupted at San Diego’s Chicano Park Sunday afternoon as an angry mob of several hundred protested a pro-Donald Trump group’s decision to hold a ‘Patriot Picnic’ in the symbolic public space.

According to the San Diego Union Tribune:

The tense exchange happened as fewer than a dozen activists gathered for an event they called the Patriot Picnic. The group planned to eat lunch at the Barrio Logan park before taking a tour of the murals, said Roger Ogden, one of the organizers. Ogden…said an email campaign has been started to get the artwork removed from the public park…

Word spread about the tour, and a counter-demonstration, dubbed the Solidarity Gathering at Chicano Park, was planned for noon. Hundreds of people attended to show their support.

Multiple news sources reported a massive police presence with officers from both the San Diego Police Department (SDPD) and California Highway Patrol (CHP) present.  Law enforcement also blocked off numerous routes, including a freeway offramp, as a precaution to maintain order.

The Times of San Diego reports that the counter-demonstrators were brought together by “a Facebook event for the gathering … organized in response to reports that a group of people planned to visit the park Sunday as part of a scouting expedition in response to Confederate monuments being removed across the country.”

The “Patriot Picnic” tour was captured on YouTube and shows a group of a half dozen or so gathered around a picnic table that is painted the colors of the Mexican flag on an unoccupied side of the park, sandwiched between a busy road and the freeway.  They were there ostensibly to eat a pizza lunch, but as one of the group was filming some of the murals and doing his own commentary, a phalanx of San Diego Police formed a line along the sidewalk as the crowd of counter-demonstrators became increasingly agitated.

Within minutes, the group was surrounded by hundreds of people, many wearing brown berets and waving Mexican and Communist flags, while filming with phones and trading insults with the pro-Trump demonstrators.

Shortly after forming a human barrier, the police were forced to retreat from their own line as the mob began to surge across the street. About two dozen officers surrounded the pro-Trump activists in order to protect them from the increasingly agitated and angry counter-protesters.

The park, which has been a controversial symbol of Latino activism since it’s inception in the 1970s, was in the news recently for a mural depicting an ICE agent choking a Mexican worker.

Local Affiliate NBC7 reports that counter-demonstrators attacked the motivations of those who attended the “Patriot Picnic” as wanting “to promote hate.”

After about 15 minutes, the pro-Trump activist group was ordered by SDPD to leave the park, and the entire group was escorted through the crowd, taunted by counter-demonstrators shouting “Nazis go home” and “Racists go home.”

Houston Proves Everything the MSM Says About Our ‘Divided’ Country Is a Lie

Even before Hurricane Harvey waylaid southeast Texas, the idea was to write this piece, to offer some perspective on the difference between our corrupt media’s relentless portrayal of a hopelessly divided America, and a little something known as Reality.

Having spent 6 weeks (during 3 separate trips) on the road this summer, having spent time in about 10 different states, my own experience outside the media-fabricated bubble was an eye opener. Then the terrible devastation of Harvey came along and, I hope, broke the media’s wicked spell across the fruited plain.

You need not live in Manhattan or DC to bubble yourself, and by extension, be hoodwinked by a media and Left desperate to crack our union in two. The only requirement is a news addiction fed by the establishment media. If that toxin is your primary portal to the outside world, you are being misled. And I say this not from On High, but from experience.

Through this media portal, we are always portrayed as being at each other’s throats. And not just along political lines, which is not a terrible thing if you believe debate is good for democracy, but along toxified racial, gender, age, region, and lifestyle lines.

Basically, the media fabricates the following: that old white men (i.e. Trump supporters) are desperate to hold on to their privilege at the expense brown, black, gay, female, and young Americans. And for this reason, every brown, black, gay, female, and young American must vote Democrat.

Let’s begin with the fact that nearly half of those, 48%!,  who voted for Trump are NOT men. Let’s end with the fact that 43% of those who voted for Trump are NOT white. This means that there are, literally, tens of millions of non-whites and women who support this president.

If you look at the establishment media, though, this inconvenient fact is intentionally memory-holed, all in service to a propaganda campaign meant to hustle Americans into believing we hate one another. The obvious goal is to turn propaganda into reality by fooling us into believing we must join a tribe, a tribe as defined by the media, a tribe that comports perfectly with the evil of identity politics, which can only result in putting elites and their centralized government back in power.

The primary weapons in this propaganda war are extremist groups the media dishonestly uses as avatars for all of us. Therefore, it is no accident that every single one of these groups, starting with the KKK  and white supremacists, and ending with AntiFa and Black Lives Matter, are leftwing hate groups — groups conceived, birthed and raised by a Democrat Party desperate to cover up its failed ideas with grievance coalitions too shallow to see past their own precious identities.

These hate groups also give the media its desired chaos narrative, the emotional blackmail that demands we take a side, which is, at its essence, a ransom note that reads:

DEAR AMERICA: ALL THIS UGLINESS AND DIVISION WILL GO AWAY IF YOU VOTE THE WAY WE TELL YOU TO.

By over-blowing and inundating us with 24/7 with strife and violence, by stressing us out, this is the media holding civility and the social compact hostage; demanding we pay a ransom that surrenders merit to identity and individual freedom to government.

In other words, what you see 24/7 on CNN is not America. What you see on CNN, rather, is the America CNN wants to create through lies. The truth is this: even on a Big News night, no more than about 7 million tune into ALL of cable news, and any amount of time spent in the Real World is a revelation of just how little impact and influence the establishment media is having on our country.

After six weeks on the road, after dozens of people in states as politically diverse as Illinois and South Carolina, Maryland and West Virginia, I am heartened to report that the people in this country get along, live and work together, just fine. Out in the Real World, no one’s taking it to the streets, obsessed with identity, or at each other’s throats. Politics almost never came up, and the few times it did ended with a handshake or hug.

In fact, Americans of all stripes are busy living their lives, raising their kids, embracing summer. The only noticeable effect DC is having on Real America is an increased optimism about the economy.

The very day that two leftwing groups — white supremacists and AntiFa — went after each other in Charlottesville, you want to know where I was? At a wedding in Chicago, in a building hosting five receptions simultaneously, in a place packed with hundreds of people of every conceivable racial background enjoying each other’s company. It was e pluribus unum on steroids. There was no tension, no awkwardness, no nothing other than Americans — AMERICANS — enjoying the fruits of hard work, family, friendship and community.

And then Houston happened; good heavens, what a great country we are, what a great people we are. The very people who are ordered by the media to hate one another — blacks, Hispanics, whites, southerners, — instead helped, rescued, saved, consoled and soothed one another. From out of state, the Deplorables came, flying the flag of the Cajun Army, volunteering to risk their own lives to save a city that is much more black and Hispanic than not.

What we are seeing in Houston is not the exception, is not the outlier.

What we are seeing in Houston is who we are, is America.

Don’t let anyone tell you different.

Immigration? Let’s at least be consistent about not enforcing laws

People had better not bring in any goods from foreign countries without declaring them and paying the designated fees.

People and businesses need to declare their out-of-state purchases where they didn’t pay sales taxes so that their state gets the money.

Even buying a car out of my city requires me to pay the city its sales tax.  Somehow, the border matters to my city on my car.

It is illegal to bring in cigarettes from low-tax states and sell them in cities like New York without paying the additional tax.  Politicians in New York care about cigarettes coming in illegally but not people.

Congress has never allowed the selling of health insurance across state lines.

Professionals like CPAs, lawyers, doctors, and so many more are required to get licenses in the states they practice in.  (I wonder why those borders matter.)  But people who come in the country illegally should be allowed to stay and roam wherever they want because there, the border obviously doesn’t matter.

I hope CEOs who say DACA is appropriate never complain about China and other countries selling goods either illegally or below cost.  After all, China is just trying to help its families and economy, and we should be understanding and compassionate.

I believe we should just be able to get rid of whatever laws we choose.  For example I think we should stop enforcing contract law for CEOs, reporters, and network personalities.  I believe they make too much.  They are taking way more than their fair share.  I also think patent law is unnecessary.  Corporations should be required to share their inventions with whoever wants them.  Maybe they could just give the trade secrets to the government so they could hand them out.

I also think royalties are unnecessary for actors and musicians.  They made enough money up front, and some of them are truly abusing their privilege.

Bill Gates seems to be a big advocate for DACA so he should be required to open up his mansions to anyone who wants to stay there.  Anyone should be able to go on his property without threat of repercussions.  In other words, his house should have no enforceable borders.

In summary, whatever president is in at the time can pick and choose whatever laws and rules he wants.  If Congress won’t give him what he wants, he should just be able to make his own rules as he goes.

I wonder what could go wrong.  I am sure reporters would just go along if Trump acted like Obama.

Pro-abortion orgs raise money so Hurricane Harvey victims can get abortions — the response is brutal

Hurricane Harvey, between its wind and days of historic rainfall, caused a laundry-list of problems in southeast Texas and turned thousands of people’s lives upside-down.

Homes flooded. Properties destroyed. Dead family members. Texans have faced it all. Hundreds of organizations and tens of thousands of Americans nationwide have turned to donate and volunteer in the storm ravaged areas.

But some organizations are focusing on something much, much different.

Um, what?

NARAL, one of the nation’s leading pro-choice — really, pro-abortion — organizations, posted tweets to its official Twitter account on Friday lamenting over the lack of abortions happening in Texas due to Hurricane Harvey.

It also directed its users to support the Lilith Fund, which is supposedly helping Texans receive abortions in the wake of Harvey.

“Join us in supporting Harvey survivors seeking an abortion but cannot afford it,” a Lilith picture read.

The National Network of Abortion Funds also got in on the action:

The scathing response

Considering that water rescues are still ongoing and recovery efforts will take months, possibly even years, it wouldn’t be far-fetched to say that NARAL’s interests are a bit out-of-touch.

But never waste a good opportunity to raise money for your sinister organization, right? Right…

The response to the posturing has been scathing:

Decency still exists in America.

PAPER: It Wasn’t Comey’s Decision to Exonerate Hillary – It Was Obama’s

James Comey’s irreparable reputation took another body blow this week after a memo emerged, written by the former FBI Director, appearing to exonerate Hillary Clinton of any wrongdoing in relation to her handling of classified information — prior to the investigation’s conclusion. With all the focus on Comey’s role in Hillary Clinton’s exoneration, it begs the question if the decision was made by a “higher power.”

No, not God.

But by a man who may think of himself as one — Barack Obama. National Review’s Andrew McCarthy believes Obama was the puppet master, so to speak, driving the narrative to insure Hillary was gotten off the hook, ensuring the Democrat Party continued its control over the White House.

National Review reports:

Let’s think about what else was going on in April 2016. I’ve written about it a number of times over the last year-plus, such as in a column a few months back: On April 10, 2016, President Obama publicly stated that Hillary Clinton had shown “carelessness” in using a private e-mail server to handle classified information, but he insisted that she had not intended to endanger national security (which is not an element of the [criminal statutes relevant to her e-mail scandal]). The president acknowledged that classified information had been transmitted via Secretary Clinton’s server, but he suggested that, in the greater scheme of things, its importance had been vastly overstated. This is precisely the reasoning that Comey relied on in ultimately absolving Clinton, as I recounted in the same column: On July 5, 2016, FBI director James Comey publicly stated that Clinton had been “extremely careless” in using a private email server to handle classified information, but he insisted that she had not intended to endanger national security (which is not an element of the relevant criminal statute).

The director acknowledged that classified information had been transmitted via Secretary Clinton’s server, but he suggested that, in the greater scheme of things, it was just a small percentage of the emails involved. Obama’s April statements are the significant ones. They told us how this was going to go. The rest is just details. In his April 10 comments, Obama made the obvious explicit: He did not want the certain Democratic nominee, the candidate he was backing to succeed him, to be indicted. Conveniently, his remarks (inevitably echoed by Comey) did not mention that an intent to endanger national security was not an element of the criminal offenses Clinton was suspected of committing – in classic Obama fashion, he was urging her innocence of a strawman crime while dodging any discussion of the crimes she had actually committed.

As we also now know – but as Obama knew at the time – the president himself had communicated with Clinton over her non-secure, private communications system, using an alias. The Obama administration refused to disclose these several e-mail exchanges because they undoubtedly involve classified conversations between the president and his secretary of state. It would not have been possible to prosecute Mrs. Clinton for mishandling classified information without its being clear that President Obama had engaged in the same conduct. The administration was never, ever going to allow that to happen.

As The Gateway Pundit reported on Friday, it looks like Comey has some explaining to do. The former FBI Director testified to Congress that he decided not to recommended charges in relation to handling of classified information, after the FBI interviewed Hillary Clinton on July 2, 2016. However, a new report reveals Comey penned a memo exonerating Clinton in the Spring.

On September 28th, 2016, Texas GOP Rep. John Ratcliffe asked Comey the following (simple) question:

“Director, did you make the decision not to recommend criminal charges relating to classified information before or after Hillary Clinton was interviewed by the FBI on July 2nd?”

Comey’s answer under oath?

“After”

Following the exchange, the Office of Rep. John Ratcliffe issued the following statement:

Rep. John Ratcliffe (R-Texas) exposed troubling new details today surrounding the Clinton email investigation during his questioning of FBI Director James Comey before the House Judiciary Committee. In the exchange, Ratcliffe focused on implications of the facts revealed by documents released by the FBI after Comey initially announced his recommendation not to press criminal charges against former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Ratcliffe’s exchange with Comey showed that:

  • In his multi-decade career as a prosecutor Comey could not recall a single instance in which two key witnesses of a criminal investigation were allowed to sit in on an interview with the principle target of that same investigation, as was the case in the Clinton email investigation.
  • The FBI appears to have focused on only two portions of criminal code related to the mishandling of sensitive information, specifically in regard to Clinton herself, while ignoring the possible destruction of evidence and obstruction of justice by other parties. In fact, Comey readily admitted that Paul Combetta, who destroyed emails records of Hillary Clinton with Bleach Bit despite a preservation request to retain them, lied to federal investigators before receiving immunity.

“As a former federal prosecutor, I can tell you that it’s unheard of for a potential key witness to be present when the target of an investigation is being interviewed. In fact, I’ve never seen it. And Comey admitted he’s never seen it. The American people have every right to wonder why this occurred in Clinton’s case – this isn’t the treatment anyone else in our country would have received, and it frankly appears that the outcome of this investigation was predetermined from the start,” Ratcliffe said.

Documents released on Thursday show former FBI head James Comey exonerated Hillary Clinton before the investigation into her email conduct had concluded. Even more concerning is “Mr. Comey even circulated an early draft statement to select members of senior FBI leadership,” reports Townhall.

Townhall reports:

According to new transcripts released by the Senate Judiciary Thursday afternoon, former FBI Director James Comey made the decision not to refer then Democrat presidential candidate Hillary Clinton for prosecution long before ever interviewing key witnesses. Members of the Committee allege Comey made the decision months before FBI agents were finished with the criminal investigation of her mishandling classified information during her time as Secretary of State.

The transcripts were revealed in a letter sent to current FBI Director Christopher Wray, in which lawmakers are demanding an explanation and more documents surrounding the case.

“According to the unredacted portions of the transcripts, it appears that in April or early May of 2016, Mr. Comey had already decided he would issue a statement exonerating Secretary Clinton.  That was long before FBI agents finished their work.  Mr. Comey even circulated an early draft statement to select members of senior FBI leadership.  The outcome of an investigation should not be prejudged while FBI agents are still hard at work trying to gather the facts,” the letter, signed by Chairman Chuck Grassley and Committee member Lindsey Graham states. “Conclusion first, fact-gathering second—that’s no way to run an investigation.  The FBI should be held to a higher standard than that, especially in a matter of such great public interest and controversy.”

Former Congressman Jason Chaffetz believes Comey may have committed perjury.

Fox News Insider reports:

Jason Chaffetz said former FBI Director James Comey has a lot of “explaining to do” in light of new reports that he began drafting a statement exonerating Hillary Clinton even before interviewing key witnesses, including the former secretary of state.

“He’s certainly got a lot of explaining to do. He could have perjured himself,” the former House oversight committee chairman said on “Fox & Friends.”

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Charles Grassley and fellow GOP Sen. Lindsey Graham wrote a letter to the FBI this week, expressing concern over whether Comey made up his mind about the email investigation months before his public news conference.

“Conclusion first, fact-gathering second—that’s no way to run an investigation,” the senators wrote. “The FBI should be held to a higher standard than that, especially in a matter of such great public interest and controversy.”

Utah officer who brutally arrested nurse for complying with law just got a huge reality check

A Salt Lake City police detective who incited rage across the country on Friday is finally beginning to feel the consequences of his actions.

What happened

Detective Jeff Payne was videoed on July 26 assaulting and arresting a hospital nurse who refused to give him blood vials of one of her patients. Payne neither had a warrant for the blood, nor did he have probable cause or the patient’s consent to draw it. That means he was constitutionally barred from drawing the blood.

After Payne put the nurse, Alex Wubbels, in handcuffs, he placed her in his police vehicle. She was later released and not charged with a crime.

Body cam footage from several officers captured the incident.

Bad decisions have consequences

Payne, a trained phlebotomist, was initially only suspended from the city police department’s blood-draw department, but remained on otherwise full active-duty. Now the city has made a much stiffer decision about Payne’s future.

According to the Salt Lake City Tribune, city officials have placed Payne and another officer on administrative leave pending a full investigation into the incident. The decision to the suspend the officers came Friday afternoon. The name of the second officer was not released.

In addition, the Salt Lake County district attorney Sim Gill announced he has explored the possibility of opening a criminal investigation into the incident. He said Friday: “On the face of the evidence, there is concern that is raised about this officer’s conduct. But the whole point of an investigation is to gather the information about this situation.”

Mayor Jackie Biskupski and SLC police chief Mike Brown said at a press conference and in a joint statement that they’ve spoken with Wubbles and apologized to her. They also reiterated department policy changes.

Two important questions

Wubbles and her attorney released the full footage of the incident during a press conference on Thursday. They said they had no plans to sue the city, but explained they met with the press because they felt the city wasn’t doing enough in response to the alarming incident.

If the city continues to drag its feet, Wubbles said she would have no choice but to sue. She said her only goal is to prevent what happened to her from happening to others.

But, if the city really is interested in getting to the bottom of the incident like Biskupski and Brown claim, why did it take Wubbles releasing the footage to the press to finally get a substantive response from the city?

It’s clear to many that Payne’s actions deserve dismissal and potential criminal prosecution. So what’s the real reason for the action Salt Lake City officials are now taking, more than one month after the incident. Are they actually interested in transparency and decency or are they just saving face now that the footage is public?
