NJ Democrat Bob Menendez says 'chain migration' is an 'obscene' and 'dehumanizing' term. ...Despite he and other Dems using it for years
Until recently, the phrase “chain migration” was used by just about everyone to describe the process by which immigrants were bringing their families to the United States.  It was, and is, a completely benign descriptor.  It doesn’t infer race, religion, or merit.  It’s simply about method.

White House: New bipartisan DACA plan “giant amnesty”

Is the “Common Sense Caucus” a triumph of marketing over accuracy? The White House has been very clear on the terms it will accept for granting a path to citizenship for DACA recipients and normalization of the program. They want a border wall and an end to broad family-unification or “chain migration” practices in order to keep the problem from recurring. Donald Trump went so far as to issue a veto threat for anything that doesn’t fully resolve the issue.

With time ticking down, yet another bipartisan gang with better branding has offered a deal that falls short of those demands. It also falls short of common sense:

A bipartisan group of senators reached a deal on immigration Wednesday as President Trump attempted to preemptively undercut the proposal by delivering an ultimatum: Pass my plan or risk a veto.

The self-dubbed “Common Sense Caucus” of senators late Wednesday circulated legislation that would fulfill Trump’s calls to grant legal status to 1.8 million young immigrants and would appropriate $25 billion for southern border security construction projects over the next decade — not immediately, as Trump wants. The bill also would curb family-based immigration programs, but not to the extent Trump is seeking, and would not end a diversity visa lottery program that he wants eliminated.

The response from the White House was swift. One senior official called it a “giant amnesty,” and a public response from DHS condemned it as “the end of immigration enforcement”:

The Trump administration is denouncing a bipartisan immigration deal in the Senate, saying it will “create a mass amnesty for over 10 million illegal aliens, including criminals.”

At issue is a compromise announced Wednesday by 16 senators with centrist views. It seeks to balance Democrats’ fight to offer citizenship to young “Dreamer” immigrants with President Donald Trump’s demands for billions to build a border wall with Mexico.

The Department of Homeland Security sent out a statement on the measure just before 1 a.m. Thursday, saying the compromise would “be the end of immigration enforcement in America and only serve to draw millions more illegal aliens with no way to remove them.”

So … that would be a no, then. Trump has warned that anything short of his final proposal would get a veto. and with the DACA deadline approaching, that would be bad news for Democrats who unlinked the issue from the budget. According to the Washington Post, though, they think the deadline might go away:

A growing sense of diminishing urgency also set in as top leaders signaled that ongoing court challenges may give Congress more time than Trump’s deadline of March 5 to replace an Obama-era program shielding hundreds of thousands of young immigrants from deportation.

That’s a risky strategy, however. DACA exists under an executive order, not statute, which is what Congress is trying to change. Two courts have ruled that Trump can’t completely end DACA, but (a) he can shut it down for anyone who hasn’t already enrolled in it, and (b) these rulings are almost certain to be overturned on appeal. The argument that succeeding presidents can’t modify or cancel previous executive orders amounts to a straitjacket on presidential authority and prosecutorial discretion — the very basis for the EO on DACA.

Good luck in getting the Supreme Court to sign off on that. When they don’t, Democrats who just assumed that the courts would protect them from their own political folly will be left very vulnerable to the activists they got fired up over this issue over the past year.

The Trump proposal has been put forward by Chuck Grassley, which Trump has explicitly endorsed as the only bill he’ll sign. That means that Paul Ryan won’t even bother to take up anything else, as his conservative flank has warned him about watering down what they already see as a retreat from their own immigration principles. No Republican in either chamber is going to risk an aye vote for a bill that has no chance of getting off Capitol Hill, and which would be vetoed if it did.

Common sense in any other place than Washington would be to pass the Grassley bill, which gives Democrats wins on DACA and paths to citizenship and Republicans wins on the border wall and immigration reform, and would get signed into law immediately. They must have a different definition of “common sense” on Capitol Hill.

After Shooting, Trump Speaks Directly To Children: ‘You Are Never Alone’

President Trump on Thursday addressed the nation about the tragic school shooting in Florida, and in an unusual move, delivered a message directly to young Americans.

“I want to speak now directly to America’s children, especially those who feel lost, alone, confused or even scared,” the president said from the White House. “I want you to know that you are never alone — and you never will be. You have people who care about you, who love you, and who will do anything at all to protect you. If you need help, turn to a teacher, a family member, a local police officer or a faith leader.

“Answer hate with love, answer cruelty with kindness. We must also work together to create a culture in our country that embraces the dignity of life that creates deep and meaningful human connections and that turns classmates and colleagues into friends and neighbors.”

Trump said the his administration is working with state and local officials on the case. And he announced that he will soon visit Parkland, Florida, site of the shooting at a high school, which left 17 dead and 14 wounded. Five remain in critical condition, he said.

“Yesterday, a school filled with innocent children and caring teachers became the scene of terrible violence, hatred, and evil. Our entire nation, with one heavy heart, is praying for the victims and their families.

“To every parent, teacher and child who is hurting so badly, we are here for you, whatever you need, whatever we can do, to ease your pain. We are all join ed together as one American family and your suffering is our burden also. No child, not teacher should ever be in danger in an American school. No parent should ever have to fear for their sons and daughters when they kiss them good bye in the morning.

“Each person who was stolen from us yesterday had a full life ahead of them a life filled with wonders, beauty and unlimited potential and promise. Each one had dreams to pursue, love to give and talents to share with the world. And each one had a family to whom they meant everything in the world.Today we mourn for all of those who lost their lives. We comfort the grieving and the wounded and we hurt for entire community of Parkland, Florida, that is now in shock and pain and searching for answers.

“To law enforcement, first responders and teachers who responded so bravely in the face of danger, we thank you for your courage,” the president said.

Trump said shortly after the shooting, he spoke with Gov. Tim Scott “convey our deepest sympathies.”

“In these moments of heartache and darkness, we hold on to God’s word in scripture ‘I have heard your prayer and seen your tears. I will heal you.’ We trust in that promise and we hold fast to our fellow Americans in their time of sorrow.”

Trump also said his administration is “committed to working with state and local leaders to help secure our schools and tackle the difficult issue of mental health.” He said tater this month, he will meet with governors and attorneys general about “making our schools and children safer will be our top priorities.”

“it is not enough to simply take actions that make us feel like we’re making a difference, we must actually make that difference. In times of tragedy, the bonds that sustain us are those of family, faith, community and country. These bonds are stronger than the forces of hatred and evil, and these bonds grow even stronger in the hours of our greatest need. And so always, but especially today, let us hold our loved ones close, let us pray for healing and for peace, and let us come together as one nation to wipe away the tears and strive for a much better tomorrow.”

Earlier on Thursday, Trump sent out this tweet:

Future and Current Illegals Get Amnesty Via Bill Backed By Schumer, 8 GOP Senators

Illegal immigrants who fly, drive or walk into the United States before July 1 will be shielded from deportation if Congress approves an amnesty amendment now supported by eight GOP Senators.

“Every last one should be laughed out of the Senate for proposing an amnesty for illegal immigrants who have not yet arrived,” said a source.

The promised sanctuary for future illegal immigrants is buried at the end of the 64-page “Immigration Security and Opportunity Act,” which is now scheduled for a floor vote on Thursday, February 17.  The amendment was supported by Minority Leader Sen. Chuck Schumer and is the Democrats’ amnesty bill in the Senate this week. It is called the Rounds-King amendment because it is sponsored by GOP Sen. Mike Rounds and Democratic-leaning Sen. Angus King from Maine.

It says:

(2) Priorities. — In carrying out immigration enforcement activities the Secretary [of Homeland Security] shall prioritize available immigration enforcement resources to aliens who —

(A) have been convicted of —

(i) a felony,

(ii) a significant misdemeanor; or

(iii) 3 or more misdemeanor offenses;

(B) post a threat to national security or public safety; or

(C)(i) are unlawfully present in the United States and

(ii) arrived in the United States after June 30, 2018.

Schumer’s legalese would be used by business lobbyists, mid-level agency officials and by immigration courts to choke the enforcement of immigration law against the 12 million illegal immigrants who have arrived in the United States before February 15, 2018, but also against the migrants who rush into the United States by June 30 or before July 1.

The result could be the effective end of immigration enforcement, and a resulting drop in Americans’ wages as the inflow of cheap-labor migrants bids down white-collar and blue-collar wages.

A spokesman for the Department of Homeland Security slammed the bill:

Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton has criticized the legislation:

Georgia Sen. David Perdue slammed the Schumer bill and touted the rival bill by Sen. Chuck Grassleywhichhc he supports.

However, the June 30 date may have been inserted to distract attention from the bill’s other features, which include an amnesty for an unlimited number of illegals, loose identification rules which make identity fraud easier, plus provisions which would allow the illegals to get citizenship for millions of their own foreign siblings and parents.

If passed, Schumer’s promise of sanctuary until June 30 likely will be welcomed by hundreds of millions of people around the globe who may wish to get into the United States by June 30. A 2013 study by Gallup reported that:

About 13% of the world’s adults — or about 630 million people — say they would like to leave their country and move somewhere else permanently. For roughly 138 million people, that somewhere else would be the U.S. — the No. 1 desired destination for potential migrants.

The would-be migrants include 13 million Chinese and 10 million Nigerians, Gallup reported.

The invite could drain other countries’ small populations of trained workers and skilled professionals, For example, a 2009 Gallup study said:

The Democratic Republic of the Congo (Kinshasa) posts the highest negative PNMI, with a net migration index value of -60%, which means its adult population would decrease from an estimated 32 million to as low as 13 million.

The amendment is another effort by Schumer to remake the nation’s immigration law.

In 2013, he led the “Gang of Eight” amnesty push which was approved by the Senate but was eventually blocked by public opinion in the House. Schumer’s disastrous push, however, helped the GOP win nine seats in 2014 and helped real-estate developer Donald Trump win the GOP nomination and the presidency in 2016.

The Republicans who signed their name to Schumer’s sanctuary amendment include Schumer allies, Sen. Lindsey Graham and Sen. Jeff Flake.

But the amendment is also signed by Maine Sen. Susan Collins, South Dakota Sen. Mike Rounds,  Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski, Tennesee Sen. Lamar Alexander, Georgia Sen. Johnny Isakson, plus Colorado Sen. Cory Gardner, who is actually the chairman of the GOP Senators’ 2018 election campaign.

Aside from Graham and Flake, there is little evidence that any of these GOP Senators understand immigration law. But, said one source, “if they are dumb enough to sign something that Schumer, Durbin, and Graham are involved in, they deserve full blame.”

Sen. John McCain likely will support the bill, bringing total possible support to 58 votes, only two votes short of the 60-vote threshold.

Most of the GOP Senators who signed the invite to foreign migrants are influenced by their local Chamber of Commerce, whose members are eager to welcome imported workers and imported customers who drive down local salaries and drive up local sales. However, those new residents also impose great costs on local residents, including school expenses and police costs, plus the civic damage caused by diversity to the local society.

The three red-state Democrats on the list, Minnesota’s Sen. Amy Klobuchar, North Dakota’s Heidi Heitkamp, and West Virginia’s Sen. Joe Manchin may not know about the June 30 invite for illegals. However, their pro-amnesty signatures on the bill provide ammunition to the GOP candidates who will challenge them this November.

The amendment does authorize a $25 billion fund for a border wall but excludes the reforms sought by President Donald Trump that would close the legal loopholes now used by Central American migrants to walk through existing border fences.

Also, the amendment does not end the visa-lottery annual inflow of 50,000 migrants. It sets only minor changes to the chain-migration inflow of immigrants’ extended families and clans, many of whom lack skills needed to get a well-paying job in the United States.

The bill also says there shall be no upper limit on the number of people who get an amnesty, and it bars the deportation of illegals who appear eligible for the amnesty, or the hundreds of thousands of illegals who have violated court orders to exit the United States.

Schumer’s June 30 language is similar to the probationary “Z Visas” language which was included in the failed 2007 amnesty bill pushed by Sen. John McCain and Sen. Ted Kennedy.  That language said that federal officials had to provide work-permits and residency cards to all migrants for three months after the enactment of the law — unless officials were able to legally prove the application was fraudulent within 24 hours after the application was submitted.

Many polls show that Trump’s 2016 immigration policies are very popular in the polling booth.

Immigration polls which ask people to pick a priority or to decide which options are fair show that voters in the polling booth put a high priority on helping their families and fellow nationals get decent jobs in a high-tech, high-immigrationlow-wage economy.

Those results are very different from the “Nation of Immigrants” polls which are funded by CEOs and progressives, and which pressure Americans to say they welcome migrants.

Eight Things We Don’t Know About Nikolas Cruz

Eight Things We Don’t Know About Nikolas Cruz

Gun controllers have so eagerly lined up to blame the NRA, the AR-15, and President Trump in the wake of the Florida school shooting that they overlooked the fact that we know very little about the one person who is to blame–the shooter himself.

We know the name of the alleged shooter is Nikolas Cruz, we know he was a former student who was expelled via disciplinary action, that he used a rifle to carry out his attack, and that he was captured by law enforcement without incident shortly after shooting.

Here is what we do not know:

Why did Cruz choose Valentine’s day?–a day associated with romance, as the day on which to carry out his attack?

What was Cruz’s family structure?–Cruz’s father died some years ago and his mother died around Thanksgiving 2017. The Washington Post reports that he was “living at a friend’s house” and that he was showing “signs of depression.” Was he receiving treatment for depression?

What did authorities know about Cruz?–Breitbart News reported that the FBI warned about months ago about a possible school shooter named Nikolas Cruz.

What ultimately set him off?–If the actual attacker was the same Cruz which the FBI warned about, then what finally caused him to pull the trigger?

How did Cruz acquire his firearm?–Was the gun stolen or legally acquired? What it purchased or handed down to him upon his father’s death? These are crucial questions because the usual push for background checks is being conducted by the left, but what if Cruz passed a background check?

Does Cruz have a criminal record?–This question is important insofar as it speaks to whether he could pass a background check in the first place.

Where were the school resource officers at the time of the attack?–On February 14 Breitbart News reported that Broward County Public School superintendent Robert Runcie said there was a regular police presence–i.e., school resource officers–at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High. He said there were normally two such officers. Yet the events of February 14 proved that Cruz allegedly found his way around those officers.

Where did Cruz get his smoke bombs?–Sen. Bill Nelson told MSNBC that Cruz used smoke bombs and wore a gas mask for the attack. Were the smoke bombs such that a gas mask was really needed? Where did he learn about the bombs? Did he make them?

These questions only began to scratch the surface, yet even they suffice to show that a knee-jerk reaction of blaming the NRA, a firearm, or the president, is superficial at best.

Donald Trump Addresses Florida School Shooting: ‘Answer Hate with Love, Answer Cruelty with Kindness’

Donald Trump Addresses Florida School Shooting: ‘Answer Hate with Love, Answer Cruelty with Kindness’

President Donald Trump addressed the country Thursday morning in the aftermath of the school shooting in Florida, calling for a working plan to keep America’s schools safe.

“It is not enough to simply take actions that make us feel like we are making a difference, we must actually make that difference,” Trump said.

He specifically called attention to mental health and promised to meet with federal and state officials to discuss the problem — but did not address gun control laws.

The president made his remarks at the White House after the shooting suspect in Parkland, Florida murdered 17 students before he was arrested and charged by law enforcement officials.

Trump called for American schoolchildren to reach out to authority figures in their lives for help and to treat each other with dignity.

“Answer hate with love, answer cruelty with kindness,” he said, calling for “a culture in our country that embraces the dignity of life.”

The president cited 2 Kings 20:5 to comfort those in grief: “‘I have heard your prayer and seen your tears, I will heal you,’” he read.

He also confirmed that he planned to visit the Florida community in Parkland in the coming days.

Democrats Rush to Pre-Blame Russian Hacking for Election Losses

To think that it was mere months ago that the Democrats had a full head of steam and the wind in their sails as they headed toward that epic wipeout of Republicans in this year’s midterm elections.

The “Blue Wave” was going to hit America as a perfect political storm of biblical proportions according to all of the same hacks in the media who predicted a Hillary Clinton landslide in 2016.

But a funny thing happened on the way to the annihilation. The Democrats – as they are prone to do – have entered self-destruct mode and those huge majorities in both houses of Congress don’t look like the slam dunk that they once did.

If the Dems fail to win big in November then there goes that promise of impeachment that they have oversold to the masses of asses that comprise their moronic base and with that, the energy is sucked out of #theResistance bubble putting 2020 in jeopardy as well.

So now we have the hysterical warnings that the Russians are going to meddle in the elections again because when your base gobbles up bullshit biscuits and bets for more, why even bother telling the truth that the Democrats are a party bereft of ideas and run by incompetents.

The Dems got even more horrible news that their best-laid plans are going awry via a new POLITICO/Morning Consult poll that for the first time, shows them trailing to a generic Republican in the midterms.

So what are the Dems to do?

Easy, they quadruple-down on the Russian election hacking scam and use a rehashed NBC news story as the basis for demanding new action from the feds to protect the integrity of the process. This way should the Democrats blow it – which is looking increasingly likely – then they can just fall back on the same “the dog ate my homework” excuse that they have been using to explain away the voters’ rejection of Hillary Clinton in 2016.

According to Reuters “U.S. Democrats push $1 billion bill for election security”:

Congressional Democrats introduced legislation on Wednesday that would provide more than $1 billion to boost cyber security of U.S. voting systems, and Vice President Mike Pence defended the administration’s efforts to protect polls from hackers.

The measure followed warnings on Tuesday from U.S. intelligence officials that midterm races in November are likely to see renewed meddling from Russia and possibly other foreign adversaries.

“We cannot let the Russians laugh about and take joy in the success they had in the last election,” Nancy Pelosi, the Democratic leader in the House of Representatives, told a news conference. “Their goal is to undermine democracy.”

In putting herself at the forefront of this latest farce, Pelosi is in essence buying herself an insurance policy in the event that all of her efforts to make everything about opposing Trump blow up in her face and she faces a revolt from younger Democrats.

This way she is able to easily blame it on the Russians. It is astounding to watch this party continue to disintegrate from one that not that long had actual ideas (even if they were wrong-headed) into a collection of conspiracy cranks, race-baiters and identity politics extremists.

At some point the blame Putin excuse is going to stop being effective, signs are already appearing that they have flogged that particular donkey to death.

Pence Rips ‘Out of Touch’ ABC for Promoting ‘Religious Intolerance’ on ‘View’

In a sit-down interview with Axios on Ash Wednesday, Vice President Mike Pence told investigative journalist Mike Allen that he was upset to hear about The View’s callous remarks about his faith on their show earlier this week.

I actually heard that ABC has a program, that compared my Christianity to mental illness. And I’d like to laugh about it but I really can’t,” he began.

Pence was referring to the Tuesday episode of ABC’s The View, where the liberal hosts mocked the VP for his faith. Host Joy Behar joked that Pence talking to God was akin to a “mental illness,” and fellow host Sunny Hostin claimed he had a “dangerous” faith.

During a Q&A at the Axios forum February 14, Pence told the audience that the network’s tolerance for this kind of religious bigotry was “just wrong:”

Mike, I’m a believer. Like tens of millions of Americans today will have ash on their foreheads, to mark the beginning of Lent, overwhelming majority of Americans cherish their faith. And we all have different types of faith in this country. But I have to tell you. To have ABC, maintain a broadcast forum that compared Christianity to mental illness, is just wrong. And it’s an insult not to me, but to the vast majority of American people who like me, cherish their faith.

“I mean, my Christianity is the most important thing in my life…My faith sustains me in all that I do,” Pence admitted.

He went on to describe how he starts every day by reading the Bible and praying with his wife. Calling himself a “typical” American, he ripped ABC again for allowing such anti-Christian, “religious intolerance” to take place. “I call them out on that,” Pence charged:

I’m not unusual, I think I’m a very typical American...It demonstrates how out-of-touch some in the mainstream media are, with the faith and values of the American people. That you could have a major network like ABC permit a forum for invective against religion, like that. I call them out on that. Not because of what was said about me, but its just simply wrong, for ABC, to have a television program, that expresses that kind of religious intolerance.

“We’re better than that. Our country’s better than that. And you’re better than that,” he said pointing to Allen.

Pence admitted he couldn’t stand by while such offensive comments were made on a mainstream television network. “I’d like to be light about it but I really can’t. Not for my sake but for the tens of millions of Americans who cherish their faith. I can’t be silent,” he stated.

C-Span tweeted out video of the VP’s comments against ABC:

ABC has a long history of religious bigotry against Christians, as MRC President Brent Bozell noted in his open letter to the network, here.

Video Game Streaming Site Twitch Surpasses CNN, MSNBC for January Viewers

Video Game Streaming Site Twitch Surpasses CNN, MSNBC for January Viewers

Popular video game streaming website Twitch has surpassed both CNN and MSNBC for the number of average daily viewers in January.

Dot Esports reports that Twitch, the most popular video game streaming websites on the Internet, has surpassed news outlets CNN and MSNBC in the number of average daily viewers for the month of January. Twitch recorded approximately 962,000 concurrent viewers throughout the month of January 2018, a 22 percent increase from last year’s figures in January 2017 and a 26 percent increase since December 2017. In comparison, MSNBC averaged approximately 885,000 viewers for the month of January and CNN only recorded 783,000 daily viewers.

While Twitch has impressively beaten two major news organizations figures, they still fall short when compared to some of the largest cable networks in the United States. Both Fox News and ESPN beat Twitch’s figures by approximately 500,000 viewers. Fox News and ESPN both reported January viewership figures of around 1.5 million per day. Twitch is quite close however to beating the 1 million viewership figure and if the website continues to have the levels of growth seen over the past year it will reach that goal.

Twitch is owned by Amazon, which purchased the company for $1 billion in 2014. This could prove to be a great deal for Amazon as many believe that the site has already made back Amazon’s initial investment. Website valuation service Worth of Web has estimated that Twitch.tv could now be worth as much as $4 billion, a $3 billion increase on what Amazon initially paid. As Esports and the video game industry increases in value over the next few years, Twitch could soon be an extremely profitable addition to Amazon’s business portfolio.

Earlier this month the return of one of the most popular streamers on the platform, Dr. Disrespect, was watched live by just under 400,000 viewers.
