In a series of separate incidents, Border Patrol agents in the Rio Grande Valley Sector arrested multiple previously deported violent felons. Those criminal aliens included a convicted murderer, two rapists, an MS-13 member, and a sexual abuser.

On February 5, agents assigned to the Harlingen Border Patrol Station apprehended a Cuban national near Raymondville, Texas. After conducting a biometric background investigation, agents learned that a court in Georgia previously convicted the man of murder, according to information provided to Breitbart Texas from U.S. Border Patrol officials.

Weslaco Station agents arrested a Honduran man on February 10 after he crossed the border near Pharr, Texas. During processing, the man admitted to agents that he is a member of the transnational criminal gang known as Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13), officials stated.

The following day, McAllen agents arrested another Honduran man near Mission. During a biometric background investigation, agents discovered that a Louisiana court previously convicted the man of Aggravated Rape.

Tuesday, February 13, resulted in the arrest of two more violent criminals who had previously been deported. Agents assigned to the Weslaco Station arrested a Guatemalan national who crossed the border illegally near Weslaco, Texas. During processing, agents learned that an Oklahoma court convicted the man on a charge of Rape in the Second Degree. The judge sentenced the man to five years in state prison.

Later that day, agents working the Falfurrias Checkpoint discovered a case of human smuggling. As the agents processed those being smuggled they learned that one of the men, a Mexican national, had been convicted by an Illinois court sentenced the criminal alien to 338 days in jail for Sexual Abuse in the First Degree.

The five convicted and previously deported criminal aliens now face possible federal charges of illegal re-entry after removal as a convicted felon. If convicted, the men could face federal prison sentences of up to 20 years.

Leftist student “leaders” at California’s San Ramon High School have run roughshod and imposed their will over feckless administrators and timid fellow students by declaring that the Star-Spangled Banner will no longer be played at rallies and will all but certainly be banned from sporting events as well.

Like many of the other imbeciles who have suddenly decided that after over two centuries, the national anthem of the United States of America is white supremacist code speak based on an obscure part of a verse that hardly anyone has ever heard of before.

An old staple, the national anthem, was missing from the last California High School student rally and may not be coming back anytime soon.

Student leadership at the school pulled the Star-Spangled Banner from its Jan. 19 rally in protest of what it says are racist lyrics in unsung verses of the song. The story was first reported by The Californian, the student newspaper.

But not everyone is happy about the decision. Dennis Fiorentinos, a senior, told this newspaper Tuesday that he noticed at the January rally that they skipped the national anthem, and went right into the first activity.

“It clicked in my head that they didn’t do the national anthem. I thought they forgot about it,” he said.

So he went to speak with the teacher adviser to the leadership class, who informed him that they had made the decision to remove it. The leadership class consists of elected student body members, such as the class president.

“The message behind the national anthem is one of unity… to protect the freedoms that many of us take for granted every day,” Fiorentinos said.

He’s in support of the democratic process that this country was founded on, and said he would like to see a student vote, or poll, to at least gauge the community’s perception in removing the anthem.

“This could have been mitigated, had they gone to the people first,” he said.

He said he understands and respects that the student leaders were elected by the students themselves to represent them. But, they weren’t elected based on a platform, he said.

The school’s newspaper “The Californian” quotes one of those responsible for the ban:

Leadership adviser Erin McFerrin agrees that the song is problematic and that action should be taken moving forward to ensure that every student feels welcomed, especially after last year when racial graffiti was found on campus.

“In the leadership class, [we strive on] being really inclusive and mindful of all the decisions we make,” said McFerrin. “We didn’t really know why we were doing [the anthem during] the rally, so we just thought it was something maybe we could take out.”

Many students, such as senior Alexis Hooper, didn’t notice the song was removed until informed.

“I don’t really care,” Hooper said. “The National Anthem is a tradition from many years ago and the only people who really care about it are older generations.”

Last year the California chapter of the NAACP formally called for the country to do away with the anthem as a way to make things right with Colin Kaepernick.

As we reported right here at Downtrend, California NAACP President Alice Huffman announced her plans to petition the communist-infested State Legislature to remove the song as the nation’s anthem.

That radical idea has gained currency from black separatists including Congressional Black Caucus member Rep. Danny Davis (D-IL) who recently defended hatemonger Louis Farrakhan as an “outstanding human being” and with race relations at a low point, the song will continue to be exploited by black identity extremists to foment animosity toward whites and to erase the nation’s history.

Including the upcoming generation at San Ramon High School. What’s next? Replacing it with the national anthem of Wakanda?

Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents are reportedly in the process of a large-scale sweep in the Los Angeles area. Make no mistake that LA is the belly of the beast when it comes to illegal aliens and with the presence of untold numbers of street gangs, it is a potential motherlode for rounding up those with criminal records.

Latino activists are already complaining that any such operation could potentially include many who don’t have criminal records but since the local authorities are refusing to cooperate with ICE due to the state’s guerilla war against the Trump administration there is little way to avoid this inconvenience.

There is no official announcement from ICE as the sweep is ongoing and details will be provided upon completion.

Federal officials are in the midst of an immigration enforcement operation in the Los Angeles area and have so far detained more than 100 people suspected of being in violation of immigration laws.

The sweep, which began Sunday, is focusing on “individuals who pose a threat to national security, public safety and border security,” Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokeswoman Sarah Rodriguez said.

“This means that, ideally, we are working with local police and county jails to identify public safety threats in their custody, who are also in the country illegally, for deportation,” Rodriguez said in a written statement.

But “uncooperative jurisdictions” such as Los Angeles, she said, have forced ICE agents to “conduct at-large arrests in the community, putting officers, the general public and the aliens at greater risk, and increasing the incidence of collateral arrests.”

“That is what ICE is now doing in Los Angeles, and what ICE will continue to do in uncooperative jurisdictions,” Rodriguez said.

The Los Angeles Police Department and many other California law enforcement agencies have said they will not cooperate with ICE on sweeps. The LAPD has long had a policy that prevents officers from asking people about their immigration status, a rule designed to encourage those here illegally to cooperate with law enforcement in criminal investigations.

Rodriguez said the agency would not release additional information about the ongoing sweep until it came to a close. She wouldn’t say when that would be.

The operation is taking place in the agency’s Los Angeles area of responsibility, which includes Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties.

The absence of local cooperation only makes ICE’s job more dangerous and is solely based on antipathy towards Trump and a lingering bitterness over the inconvenient truth for California liberals that the Electoral College worked. The Justice Department has floated the trial balloon about prosecuting politicians of sanctuary cities but that would surely result in the mayors and other anti-Trump officials in those locales to dig in even deeper.

Hey, it sucks if non-criminals get caught up in the net but California authorities have nobody to blame but themselves for their allowing politics to interfere with the very real issue of the safety of their citizens.
