New York Times Reportedly In ‘Civil War’ With Its Own ‘Woke’ Millennial Reporters

Employees at The New York Times are reportedly in a simmering generational "civil war," debating whether or not the newspaper should abandon longstanding journalistic norms in the age of Trump.

"I’ve been feeling a lot lately like the newsroom is split into roughly the old-guard category, and the young and ‘woke’ category, and it’s easy to feel that the former group doesn’t take into account how much the future of the paper is predicated on the talent contained in the latter one," a Times employee told Vanity Fair.

"I know a lot of others at the paper with similar positions to mine, especially women and people of color, who feel that senior staff isn’t receptive to their concerns."

The younger staffers are reportedly angry with the hire of op-ed contributors Bret Stephens and Bari Weiss, the decision not to fire accused harasser Glenn Thrush, and being banned from participating in political demonstrations like the Women’s March.

The Vanity Fair piece comes after Slack transcripts leaked to the Huffington Post showed reporters complaining about Weiss and constant "microaggressions" at the paper.

In both stories, the "woke" faction of the Times complained that opinion columnists were allowed to tweet their opinions on Twitter, but "a Times reporter could conceivably get into hot water for tweeting something that seems to endorse gun control or Black Lives Matter."

The more institutionally-minded Times staffers stress the need for neutrality and impartiality. "We do not see ourselves, and we do not wish to be seen, as partisan media," said managing editor Joe Kahn. "That means that the news and opinion divide."

BREAKING: YouTube Shooter Identified as 38-Year-Old Far Left Protester Nasim Aghdam

BREAKING: YouTube Shooter Identified as 38-Year-Old Far Left Protester Nasim Aghdam

As TGP’s Cassandra Fairbanks previously reported, an active shooter unleashed a barrage of bullets at the YouTube headquarters in San Bruno, California Tuesday afternoon.

“KPIX 5 reporter Andria Borba said at least two Homeland Security units were responding. Police radio transmissions describe casualties being taken to local hospitals,” CBS reports. “San Francisco General Hospital spokesman Brent Andrew said the hospital received patients from the incident but could not confirm a number.”

YouTube employees took to Twitter to report hearing shots and seeing people running from the scene, as police surrounded the building.

ABC 7 previously reported that, “another law enforcement source confirms to ABC7 News reporter Dan Noyes that the shooter is a white, adult female wearing a dark top and head scarf.”

NBC Bay Area investigative reporter, Vicky Nguyen identified the YouTube shooter late Tuesday evening:

Nasim Aghdam ranted against YouTube on YouTube:

Nasim Aghdam complained she was being “discriminated and filtered on YouTube.”

The state of California has the strictest gun control laws in the country.

Breakdown via WaPo:

If you’re a gun owner in California, you must:

  • Pass a universal background check, no matter where you buy your gun
  • Wait at least 10 days to receive that gun (the idea here is to give law enforcement enough time to conduct the background check)
  • Get your handgun microstamped, which means the make, model and serial number of the gun is transferred to each cartridge case every time the gun is fired (the idea is to allow police at a crime scene to trace a gun back to its owner)
  • Take and pass a written safety test

You can’t:

  • Own most assault weapons or buy and sell large-capacity ammunition magazines or .50 caliber rifles
  • Buy your gun through a private sale, like online or via a friend, without first going through a licensed dealer (and thus getting a background check)
  • Buy more than one handgun a month

Trump to Mobilize National Guard to Help Block Migrants

The White House confirmed late Tuesday that it will deploy the National Guard to help contain the rising flood of Central American economic migrants during this spring and summer.

The statement said:

Last week, the President received a briefing from senior administration officials on the growing influx of illegal immigration, drugs and violent gang members from Central America, and directed a vigorous administrative strategy to confront this threat and protect America’s national security.

Today, he received a follow up briefing to discuss his administration’s strategy, which includes the mobilization of the National Guard. President Trump and senior officials present also agreed on the need to pressure Congress to urgently pass legislation to close legal loopholes exploited by criminal trafficking, narco-terrorist and smuggling organizations.

Among those briefing the President were Defense Secretary James Mattis, Homeland Security Secretary Kirsten Nielsen, Attorney General Jeff Sessions, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs General Joseph Dunford, Chief of Staff John Kelly, and other senior White House officials.

“We’re going to be doing things militarily,” Trump said Tuesday at a White House meeting. “Until we can have a wall and proper security, we’re going to be guarding our border with the military.”

Trump is being forced to deploy the National Guard because Democrats — and business-first Republicans — blocked his immigration reforms plan in a February 15 vote. Trump’s plan offered a generous amnesty to at least two million illegal immigrants in exchange for funding for a border wall, ending the visa lottery, winding down chain-migration and patching the various legal loopholes which allow migrants to exploit Congress’ “catch and release” laws.

Democratic leaders also worked with Republican leaders to cut Trump’s border spending in 2018. They denied increased funding for extra border agent, extra detention beds, and extra border barriers, despite the 2016 election results. The March omnibus only allows construction of 50 miles of new fencing along the 2,000-mile border.

The opposition from Congress leaves Trump with fewer tools to stem the wage-cutting illegal and legal immigration into the United States. But he is using his power over the agencies to improve immigration policies and border defenses, and also is using his power as Commander-in-Chief to deploy the National Guard to the border.

The Trump mobilization stands in sharp contrast to the welcome policies set by former President Barack Obama. Those policies allowed more than 400,000 Central American economic migrants into the United States to plead for asylum designed to help persecuted individuals.

Very few of the migrants have won their asylum cases, partially because many did meet their court appointments. This meant that Obama’s policies have allowed hundreds of thousands of migrants to live and work in the United States for years.

That progressive concern for distant foreigners delivered migrant MS-13 gang members into Americans’ neighborhoods, filled up the public schools used by working-class Americans, and reduced the pressure on U.S. employers to raise Americans’ wages, hire sidelined Americans or train young Americans. This “telescopic philanthropy” for foreigners rather than nearby Americans also helped persuade the public to elect Donald Trump in 2016.

The Trump announcement did not say how the National Guard could be used.

However, Jessica Vaughan, policy director at the Center for Immigration Studies, says the Guard can be used to build emergency processing centers, where federal judges can quickly review the migrants’ claims for asylum.

The Guard could also provide other support services to the border patrol, ensuring the patrol has enough personnel to quickly jump on cartel smuggling operations that are often conducted amid the rush of illegal immigrants.

The Guard also operates transport aircraft which can be used to quickly return migrants to their home countries, she said.

The pending rise in 2018 migration was spotlighted by the northward “caravan” march of at least 1,500 migrants. The open-borders organizers say they will limit their march, but they are also providing cover for other migrants to reach established smuggling routes in Mexico.

However, border officials say the immigration wave has already arrived and is forcing them to adopt “catch and release” policies because they do not have enough detention beds, immigration judges, and aircraft to process asylum claims and repatriate migrants within the deadline of 72 hours set by Congress.

Exclusive – Secretary Ben Carson on Illegals: HUD Is ‘Going to Cooperate Very Much with the Justice Department’

Exclusive – Secretary Ben Carson on Illegals: HUD Is ‘Going to Cooperate Very Much with the Justice Department’

Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Dr. Ben Carson told Breitbart News it is his aim to ensure federal contracting jobs and other economic opportunities go to “our people” and that his agency will cooperate “very much” with the Department of Justice to enforce the U.S.’s immigration laws.

In an exclusive interview with Breitbart News on Monday, Carson explained it is past time for American citizens — “our people,” he said — to reap the full benefits of HUD projects.

“What we want to do, obviously, is empower people – that’s a major goal that we have – our people, American citizens. Our programs are aimed at that,” said the secretary.

“Our tremendous emphasis on [the] Section 3 [program], for example – which has been on the books for 50 years – [which says] if you are receiving HUD money you have an obligation to hire people of low income in that area or to train them or to give contracts to them. It’s been largely ignored.”

“We are putting incentives into that to make sure that it is used to develop our people,” Carson added.

Construction is one of the top industries occupied by illegal aliens in the United States. HUD provides billions in taxpayer funds to developers annually, much of it for public housing, which means homes meant for Americans run the risk of not only housing illegal aliens but also being built by them.

“In terms of what is happening with illegals, obviously, we are going to cooperate very much with the Justice Department and with the administration’s push to try to control that,” Carson said.

Federal contractors are required (with some exceptions), by presidential executive order and subsequent federal regulations, to use E-verify — the free, Internet-based system that allows employers to verify the eligibility of their employees to work in the U.S.

When asked whether he thinks HUD should commit to tying its grants, cooperative agreements, and tax credits also received by developers and businesses to their enrollment in E-verify, Carson replied, “We have to look at all these possibilities.”

“You know, E-verify has been shown to be effective in some places and I think it’s certainly worthy of a close look.”

As for what HUD is doing to ensure illegal immigrants themselves are not receiving housing benefits intended for Americans, Carson responded: “We have an inspection process, an application process that people go through that is supposed to screen that out.”

Illinois city bans assault weapons, imposes fines up to $1,000 per day

The Village of Deerfield, Illinois, a suburb north of Chicago, enacted a ban on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines Monday night that carries stiff penalties for those found in violation.

The Deerfield Board of Trustees unanimously approved the ban during Monday night’s meeting, although some community members spoke out against it. It will go into effect June 13.

What about the ban?

The new ordinance says that because assault weapons have been used in numerous mass shootings, present unique dangers to law enforcement, and are not “reasonably necessary to protect an individual’s right to self-defense or the preservation or efficiency of a well-regulated militia,” those weapons will be banned from the village.

People who violate the ban are subject to fines of between $250 and $1,000 per day.

The trustees decided that prohibiting the possession, manufacture and sale of assault weapons will “increase the public’s sense of safety at the public schools, public venues, places of worship and places of public accommodation located in the Village of Deerfield.”

The ordinance defines the term assault weapon to include semiautomatic rifles, semiautomatic pistols, semiautomatic shotguns, or shotguns with a revolving cylinder. It also includes conversion kits and goes on to name specific rifles such as the Uzi, AK-47 and AR-15, among others.

How did the community respond?

According to Steve Sadin of the Pioneer Press, there was no debate by the trustees during Monday’s meeting, but 20 people spoke during public remarks: 14 in opposition to the ban, and six in support.

Larry Nordal of Deerfield said the ban was just going to be used as a building block for future infringements on the Second Amendment.

“First, it’s going to be assault rifles,” Nordal said. “There will be new bans in the future. It’s just a matter of time.”

Ariella Kharasch, a local high school student, characterized the ban as a part of the larger gun control movement spearheaded by some survivors of the Parkland, Florida, shooting.

“This is our fight,” Kharasch said. “This is our generation’s fight. We’re going to keep fighting and this is part of it.”

Aww: Team Hogg Just Got A Taste Of THEIR OWN TOTALITARIAN TENDENCIES, Aren’t Happy About It, :’-(

This is what we call “unintended consequences.”

………………………………… ……………………………………………………. ………………………………………………….. ……………………

………………………………… ……………………………………………………. ………………………………………………….. ……………………

Led by David Hogg, for weeks a group of Stoneman Douglas High School mass shooting survivors have been clamoring like geese for more government restrictions to be needlessly imposed on America’s millions of law-abiding firearm owners.

Thanks to the combined efforts of the National Rifle Association and conservative media, both of which have rightly sought to protect the Second Amendment from the whims of the inordinately ignorant, America’s gun rights still remained firmly intact as of early April.

Yet interestingly enough, Hogg and his merry band of demagogues’ constant fear-mongering regarding guns had at least engendered one rather serendipitous side effect, as noted Monday by Campus Safety magazine:

Students returning to Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School following spring break will face added security and safety measures.

All students will be required to use clear backpacks, which they will be given for free when they arrive on Monday morning. They will also be required to wear newly-issued student ID badges at all times, reports NBC. …

Students will be allowed to bring large sports equipment or band instruments in non-clear bags or cases but should expect to have their bags searched, says Superintendent Robert Runcie, who calls the clear backpacks an “initial measure, not a permanent one.”

When students arrive, they will be able to enter using four entry points from 7:00 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. Afterwards, the front office will be the only entry point. By the end of the first quarter of 2019, all schools in the district will have a single point entry for visitors.

But that’s not all. Students at the school must now also contend with “an increased police presence,” real-time surveillance cameras and metal-detecting wands. Full-fledged metal detectors may likewise be installed sometime in the near future.

Sound draconian and totalitarian in nature? Team Hogg certainly certainly believes so:

Even Reason magazine contributor Robby Soave, a libertarian, admitted that these new security measures have indeed made Stoneman Douglas quite “prison-like.”

However, he noted the almost comical irony of it all, writing, “Policies aimed making it harder for people to own firearms aren’t fundamentally different from the above security measures.

Exactly!

Or, as pithily stated by Brandon Morse at RedState, “[Y]ou cannot ask for more safety without losing some freedoms. That’s just the natural order of things.”

Except, instead of robbing gun-owning Americans of their constitutionally guaranteed Second Amendment rights (all on the premise that doing so would somehow enhance safety), Hogg’s fanatical gun control team wound up robbing itself of its own rights to feel free at school.

“Every day, students lose more and more freedoms at MSD,” one of Hogg’s classmates, Kai Koerber, whined to CNN this week. “Students of color have become targets and white students have become suspects. We do not welcome the militarization of MSD. It is terrible to see our school lose control over the protection of their students and their families.”

Sure, but you asked for it, son. Led by Hogg, you and others like you spent weeks making it clear to the entire country that the most basic American rights mean nothing to you. And now you’re surprised that YOUR RIGHTS have been rescinded? Hah. Welcome to reality, kid.

Better yet, welcome to the notion of principles, i.e. the principles that led you to resent these draconian measures perfectly mirror those of the firearm owners who resent YOU trying to subvert their rights.

Long story short, “No one’s liberties should be infringed just because agents of the state arbitrarily decide that a new policy might somehow make somebody feel safer.” (~Soave)

Let’s just hope you learned your lesson this time. If not, perhaps next week your school district can implement a policy that forces you and your peers to walk with your hands behind your backs. Just sayin’.

Class dismissed.

Parkland students return to school with mandated clear backpacks — and they are not happy about it

Students at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, returned to school on Monday following spring break — and they were not happy about new security changes implemented during their time off.

Some of the school’s most prominent students, who have become national voices in the gun control debate, used social media to voice their displeasure with the changes.

What happened?

Broward County Public Schools Superintendent Robert Runcie announced in March that when MSD students returned from spring break, they would be required to carry their school books in clear backpacks. The decision came after two students from the school were arrested for having weapons on campus.

But the students were quick to voice their displeasure with the change. David Hogg said at a gun control forum the move infringed on students’ right to privacy.

And when students returned to class on Monday, they used their Twitter influence to mock the backpacks.

Many of the students simply bashed the clear backpacks, while others made statements by making tampons visible or posting political stickers and buttons on the outside of the backpacks. Still, others lamented that their school now feels like a “prison.”

Trump: Until There’s ‘A Wall and Proper Security, We’re Going to Be Guarding our Border with the Military’

While speaking to reporters on Tuesday, President Trump stated that until there is “a wall and proper security, we’re going to be guarding our border with the military.”

Trump said, “I’ve been speaking with General Mattis. We’re going to be doing things militarily. Until we can have a wall and proper security, we’re going to be guarding our border with the military. That’s a big step. We really haven’t done that before, or certainly not very much before. But we will be doing things with Mexico, and they have to do it, otherwise, I’m not going to do the NAFTA deal.”

‘My Pillow’ CEO Says He Will Not Be Bullied By Hogg Boycott, Will Stay With Ingraham, Fox

Because it isn’t really about Hogg or Ingraham per se, it’s about fighting the leftist attempt to censor those with which they disagree.

Via Washington Times:

Mike Lindell, of “MyPillow” inventing and founding company fame, put forth a bold message on his Twitter feed that, in just a few short words, smacked to shame-land the would-be fascists and wanna-be censors of the world who’ve been demanding Laura Ingraham’s head on a Fox News platter.

Listen up, all you cowardly and wishy-washy boycotting businesses: This is how it’s done.
Lindellwrote: “I did not take my advertising down from @IngrahamAngle and @FoxNews, nor do I intend to.”

Bam. What a stand-up guy. What a brave guy, a principled, pro-America guy.

Chicago Suburb Empowers Police Chief to Confiscate ‘Assault Weapons,’ ‘High Capacity’ Magazines

Chicago Suburb Empowers Police Chief to Confiscate ‘Assault Weapons,’ ‘High Capacity’ Magazines

The Chicago suburb of Deerfield, Illinois, is giving residents 60 days to get rid of their “assault weapons” and “high capacity” magazines and empowering the police chief to confiscate them from those who refuse to give them up.

Deerfield previously allowed ownership of such firearms and magazines but had strict storage requirements in place for them. Now, the firearms and magazines will be illegal to posses in one’s home, even if properly stored.

The Chicago Tribune reports the “new ordinance prohibits the possession, sale and manufacturing of certain types of assault weapons and large capacity magazines within the village.” Those in violation of the ordinance will face fines of $250 to $1,000 a day.

Deerfield’s original “assault weapons” ban, including storage requirements. was instituted in 2013. The new ban is being put in place because of instances wherein “assault weapons” have been used criminally in Parkland, Florida, Sutherland Springs, Texas, Las Vegas, Nevada, and Orlando Florida. The ordinance warns that stock “assault weapons” are “customizable to become even more dangerous weapons of mass casualties and destruction.”

Section 15-91 of the ordinance states, “The Chief of Police or his or her designee shall have the power to confiscate any assault weapon of any person charged with a violation under this article. The Chief of Police shall cause to be destroyed each Assault Weapon or Large Capacity Magazine surrendered or confiscated pursuant to this Article.”

The ordinance does not state whether police will regularly knock on doors and enter homes to check in closets and under beds for “assault weapons” and “high capacity” magazines.
