WashPost Links to Satire Website Clickhole as an Accurate Source

Democracy dies in darkness, or something. The Washington Post took it upon themselves to cover an effort to push Green Day’s “American Idiot” to the top of the charts in Britain for President Trump’s diplomatic visit later this week. Meagan Flynn, the journalist on the story, linked to an article on the satire website Clickhole, claiming that George W. Bush was the “idiot” being described in the song. Twitter user Jon Hanrahan was the first to catch the flippant mistake.

Flynn used the Clickhole article, written by front-man Billie Joe Armstrong, as a legitimate source, claiming Armstrong waited 13 years to reveal the secret:

The Washington Post tried to issue a correction, but could not seem to finish their sentence before reposting, as pointed out by AEI Scholar Grant Addison.

They did finally succeed, however, and the current article version has a correction listed at the bottom of the page. The original Clickhole link has been removed. If The Washington Post had felt the need to actually research the real meaning behind the song, they would have found that it’s a call for individuality and an anthem against power-hungry politicians, and greedy news media.

Women’s March Releases Statment Attacking Trump’s SCOTUS Decision, Completely Forget His Name

As leftists prepared for the end of the world on Monday — also known as the announcement of President Donald Trump’s Supreme Court pick — they worked themselves into a fever pitch of fury and dread — and forgetfulness.

In anticipation of Trump’s announcement, protesters gathered at the Supreme Court to yell and scream about the justice they knew was going to be the absolute worst — even though they didn’t know who it was yet.

Once Trump announced that he had chosen Judge Brett Kavanaugh, the same protesters began shouting “Hey hey! Ho ho! Kavanaugh has got to go!”

While it’s an extremely overdone chant, but we have to give these activists credit at least for remembering his name.

For another group of leftists, we can’t say the same.

The Women’s March — a group of radical, leftist feminists — was so prepared to lose their minds over Trump’s pick, they had a pre-written statement condemning him or her.

There was just one problem: Whoever wrote the statement forgot to actually write Kavanaugh’s name in the email sent to their supporters and take out the placeholder of “XX.”

“In response to Donald Trump’s nomination of XX to the Supreme Court of the United States, the Women’s March released the following statement,” the email reads.

Do you think this hurts the left’s credibility?

Oops. It’s almost like they decided ahead of time to react with total hysteria no matter who Trump picked.

But even though they didn’t know who the appointment was yet, they already had their statement written to proclaim that the appointment meant a “death sentence for thousands of women in the United States.”

“Trump’s announcement today is a death sentence for thousands of women in the United States,” the statement reads. “Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination threatens to move our nation’s highest court dangerously to the right and further erode protections for every marginalized group in America.”

It’s not just radical leftist groups who decided they were going to lambaste any of Trump’s Supreme Court pick, no matter who it was.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer has made it clear from the time Judge Anthony Kennedy retired from the court that he would oppose Trump’s nominee.

It’s going to be a fight in the Senate to get Kavanaugh confirmed — but these leftists have made it very clear that would’ve been the case no matter who Trump picked.

ABC News Lambasted After Posting Incredibly Biased Statement on Trump’s SCOTUS Nominee

So, the speculation is over: Brett Kavanaugh is the president’s choice to replace the retiring Anthony Kennedy on the Supreme Court. And the media, predictably, isn’t very happy.

That being said, even ABC couldn’t get away with the tweet it made about Kavanaugh. Only it wasn’t really about Kavanaugh, for reasons I’ll explain in a bit.

The tweet was an advertisement for that night’s edition of “Nightline,” a show I’m surprised is still around since I haven’t watched it since the days it was hosted by Ted Koppel’s hairpiece. Apparently, it’s still on, and they don’t think much of Trump’s pick.

“Tonight on Nightline, (Terry Moran) reports on the controversial Supreme Court Justice pick and the possible implications for the country,” the tweet read.

As Sen. Ted Cruz pointed out in a series of tweets endorsing Kavanaugh’s nomination, this is a man who has served on the D.C. Court of Appeals — generally considered the second-highest court in the land right after the Supreme Court — and has published 300 opinions. He’s conservative, sure, but accomplished and well within the judicial mainstream.

This was apparently “controversial” to ABC News. As the Daily Wire noted, this drew a lot of angry responses, including from plenty of blue-checked accounts.

And there was a good reason. See, the tweet wasn’t talking about how “controversial” Kavanaugh was. It couldn’t have been.

Eagle-eyed readers might have noticed the time-stamp on ABC’s tweet. If you didn’t, here’s the punchline: At the time ABC posted it, the “controversial” Kavanaugh hadn’t even been nominated and nobody actually knew the identity of who Trump would pick.

In other words, anything would have been controversial because controversy generates ratings. As it turned out, Trump went with the least controversial pick he could have — one who is conservative, certainly, but has also an established record of respecting the Constitution and established precedent.

There was, thus, much mirth throughout the conservative Twittersphere:

It wasn’t long before a correction was issued:

The possible implications for the country: A lot of unforced errors on the media side of things, for starters.

Oh, and corrections. Lots and lots of corrections.

Cotton on Dem Opposition to Kavanaugh: ‘It’s Clear They’re Just Playing a Somewhat Laughable Political Game’

Tuesday on Hugh Hewitt’s nationally syndicated radio show, Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) reacted to President Donald Trump’s nomination of D.C. Circuit U.S. Appeals Court Judge Brett Kavanaugh to fill the void to be left behind by the retirement of Supreme Court Associate Justice Anthony Kennedy. Cotton said he looked forward meeting with Kavanaugh, but dismissed Senate Democratic opposition to Kavanaugh as a “somewhat laughable political game.” Partial transcript as follows: HEWIT: So tell me about your reaction last night when Brett Kavanaugh, the President probably called you beforehand, but what was your reaction? COTTON: The President did throughout this process what he promised to do on the campaign trail, what he did in his first opportunity to nominate a Supreme Court justice, is work from a list that he gave to the American people in advance of very distinguished jurists of all stripes. He selected Judge Kavanaugh who has a long and very impressive record from the D.C. Circuit, and before that as a very capable appellate lawyer in Washington, D.C. I’ve got now a stack of opinions on my desk that I’ll be reading through, which is one of the reasons why I left the law and became a
