Photos: Remains of Korean War Dead Honored During Repatriation Ceremony

Vice President Mike Pence formally welcomed home the remains of American military this week who died in the Korean war in a solemn occasion Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam in Hawaii.

“Some have called the Korean War the ‘forgotten war.’ But today, we prove these heroes were never forgotten. Today, our boys are coming home,” Pence said, before paying tribute to his father, Lieutenant Ed Pence, who was a Korean War veteran.

“Sixty-five years ago last week, the armistice was signed to bring the Korean War to its close,” he said. “From the moment the guns fell silent, American soldiers returned home, some to their families and futures, and some to their eternal rest. But more than 8,000 Americans did not come home at all.”

Pence also spoke of how President Trump secured the return of the soldiers remains:

On June 12, President Trump traveled to a historic summit in Singapore with Kim Jong-Un of North Korea. As our President entered into negotiations with North Korea, he also had our fallen on his heart. As he secured a commitment for the complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, our President also secured a promise from Chairman Kim to return the remains of all fallen U.S. service-members lost in North Korea.

“I know that President Trump is grateful that Chairman Kim has kept his word, and we see today as tangible progress in our efforts to achieve peace on the Korean Peninsula,” said Pence.

The active era of the Korean War took place between 1950-1953, five years after the end of World War II. The war is still technically in vigor, but hostilities ended following the signing of what was meant to be a temporary armistice in 1953. Neither side has yet to surrender in the war or offer a treaty to end the war. Pence said that the war had been a battle between “the forces of freedom and the forces of communism.”

Black Veteran Goes Scorched Earth On Pathetic Dem Councilwoman Kneeling During Pledge

Controversy erupted a couple weeks ago in a small town in Connecticut after an elected official decided to take a knee during the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance prior to the start of a town meeting.

According to The Washington Post, Selectwoman Melissa Schlag — a member of the Haddam, Connecticut, board of selectmen, or executive body — took a knee on July 16 in protest against President Donald Trump, and vowed in a Facebook post to continue doing so as long as he remained in office, sparking an outcry from some and praise from others.

Amid the outcry over the past few weeks, which saw protests against her actions as well as in support of them, video also emerged of her stating, “This town is fascist and racist,” for which she has apologized, though she has not apologized for the kneeling, which many view as disrespectful to the country and the men and women who’ve fought and died on its behalf.

At another town meeting on Monday, Schlag once again knelt during the pledge and received an earful of boos from the crowd, followed later by a righteous rant from a black military veteran — identified by The Post as Haddam resident Pablo Arroyo — that left her sitting in cold silence.

“I wholeheartedly respect your right to protest, to take a knee, to lay down, to burn the flag, to do whatever it is … that you please. But if that’s what you would like to do, do that on your own time,” he stated while holding a small American flag to a round of applause and raucous cheers from a majority of the gathered residents.

“Kneel at your son or daughter’s Little League game. When you become an elected official, you become a representative of all of Haddam and all of your constituency,” he continued, before likening her to the famed statue of Lady Justice, the only difference being that she was peeking out from under her blindfold to show favoritism to one side over the other.

“You ran as a Democrat, but once you became elected, unfortunately, you have to represent all of your constituents here. Last week and this week, you told at least half the town ‘I don’t care whether I offend you and I’m gonna act on my whim,’” he proclaimed to another round of applause.

“You took an oath, you took an oath …,” he added, among other things that were drowned out by the uproarious cheers and clapping he received at the conclusion of his justified rant.

Are you glad this veteran stepped up and spoke his mind about an elected official kneeling for the pledge?

One might think that the verbal beatdown she received from angry constituents would have an effect, but The Post reported that Schlag appears to have dismissed it and remains locked into her partisan display that has proven quite unpopular with a number of her town’s residents.

Indeed, though she declined to offer up any comment with regard to this incident to The Post, she did take to her Facebook page — in a post that now appears to have been deleted — where she reportedly referred to the Monday town meeting as a “verbal stoning.”

“The intolerance and hate was palpable in the room. The room booed throughout their own pledge as they belted the pledge at me like (a) weapon. I was told I urinated on the graves of dead soldiers. I was told I hate my country,” The Post reported she had written on Wednesday.

Based on those snippets from the now-missing post, as well as her comments to “trolls” on her other posts that are still up, it is readily apparent that she is unrepentant and gleaned no real lesson from the impassioned words of the veteran who pleaded with her to cease kneeling for the pledge while in her official capacity.

Such a request is not at all out of bounds, and the veteran was quite right when he noted that despite Schlag’s party affiliation, she represents all of the town residents during those meetings and should act accordingly.

In other words, as the man stated, protest on your own time, but leave the divisive partisan antics at the door while serving on behalf of Haddam’s residents, who don’t all share in her unpatriotic views and perhaps wouldn’t have elected her if they’d known how she would conduct herself as a representative of the town’s residents.

This man who fought and sacrificed on behalf of this country simply couldn’t bear to see an elected official of his town be so disrespectful to the symbol of this great nation, and he didn’t hold anything back as he let her know how he — and apparently plenty of others in the town — truly felt about her anti-American display.

DACA may be fully restored in August as federal judge rules against Trump admin

A federal judge dealt what could be the final blow against the Trump administration’s efforts to end former President Barack Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, Politico reported.

U.S. District Judge John Bates ruled Friday that DACA must restart fully beginning Aug. 23, which means the government would be required to accept new applications from DACA-eligible immigrants.

According to Bates, the Trump administration’s argument “offers nothing even remotely approaching a considered legal assessment that this court could subject to judicial review.”

Why did he rule this way?

Bates ruled in April that the administration had to process renewal applications for people already in the DACA program. At that time, he ordered the Trump administration to present better reasons for ending the program, or he would vacate the memo that ended it.

“The court has already once given DHS the opportunity to remedy these deficiencies,” Bates wrote. “Either by providing a coherent explanation of its legal opinion or by reissuing its decision for bona fide policy reasons that would preclude judicial review. So it will not do so again.”

Why August 23?

The delay in restarting DACA allows the federal government the opportunity to appeal his decision, which is simply based on his determination that the Trump administration’s reasons for ending the program aren’t legally sound.

“Although the Nielsen Memo purports to offer further explanation for DHS’ decision to rescind DACA, it fails to elaborate meaningfully on the agency’s primary rationale for its decision: the judgment that the policy was unlawful and unconstitutional,” Bates wrote.

When Trump and Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced in September that they were phasing DACA out, they criticized the legally questionable “amnesty-first” approach of Obama’s executive order, and Trump emphasized that it was now Congress’s job to pass immigration reform to protect those in the program.

Congress failed to come to any agreement on a law to replace DACA, leaving the recipients, illegal immigrants brought to the United States as children, in a state of uncertainty for nearly the past year.

Activist George W. Bush-Appointed Judge Orders Full Restart of Obama-Era DACA Program

(AP Photo/Jacquelyn Martin)

U.S. District judge, John Bates, a George W. Bush appointee, ordered a full restart to Obama’s DACA program on Friday.

The Trump administration has attempted to unwind this dangerous Obama-era program, yet activist judges continue to block all efforts.

In fact, Judge John Bates ruled back in April that the Department of Homeland Security’s decision to end the Obama-era DACA “was unlawful and must be set aside.”

Judge Bates said DHS Nielsen’s memo “offers nothing even remotely approaching a considered legal assessment that this court could subject to judicial review,” Politico reported.

Politico reported:

A D.C.-based federal judge on Friday ordered the Trump administration to restart in full the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.

The decision is the latest legal blow against President Donald Trump’s decision to phase out the Obama-era program, which offers deportation relief to undocumented immigrants brought to the United States as children.

The restart won’t be immediate. U.S. District Judge John Bates said Friday that the order would be delayed until Aug. 23 to allow the government to appeal, but he denied a Justice Department motion to reconsider his earlier decision, saying there were still deficiencies in the administration’s rationale for rescinding DACA.

“The court has already once given DHS the opportunity to remedy these deficiencies — either by providing a coherent explanation of its legal opinion or by reissuing its decision for bona fide policy reasons that would preclude judicial review,” said Bates, “So it will not do so again.”

Bates in April became the third federal judge to order the administration to restart renewals for people previously approved for DACA.

He also threatened to vacate the memo ending DACA — and thereby restore the program in full — if Trump officials could not present an adequate reason for ending it.

In a 25-page opinion Friday, Bates, an appointee of former President George W. Bush, rejected the administration’s argument that the original decision to end DACA remained sound.

Specifically, he criticized a June memo issued by Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen. In the memo, Nielsen said she stood by the legal rationale laid out in a Sept. 5 directive from then-acting Secretary Elaine Duke.

If Judge Bates’ Friday ruling goes into effect later this month, the Trump administration will be required to accept new DACA applications.

The DACA showdown is here.

In early September, President Trump announced an end to the Obama-era program that grants work permits to illegal immigrants who arrived in this country illegally with their lawbreaking parents or guardians.

President of Judicial Watch, Tom Fitton followed Trump’s announcement with a statement saying the Obama administration bypassed security background checks for DACA recipients which of course puts Americans in danger.

Not only do these illegal aliens cost the American taxpayers billions of dollars, they are incredibly dangerous as well. Just like the Syrian ‘refugees’, we don’t know who they really are.

The median age of a DACA recipient is 23 years old. They are not hopeless babies and toddlers like the media would like you to believe.

Many DREAMers are of voting age and WILL VOTE DEMOCRAT. The ones who have yet to be of voting age will most certainly vote Democrat and permanently entrench the Democrat party.

The American people voted for Donald Trump to stop this invasion of illegal aliens.

The abuse from unelected officials from the bench must stop.

Exclusive — Jim Jordan on Running for Speaker: ‘We’re Best When We Do What We Said’

House Freedom Caucus co-founder Jim Jordan (R-OH) told Breitbart News Daily on Friday that Republicans succeed when they hold their promises, “We’re best when we do what we said.”

Breitbart News Daily host and Breitbart News Editor-in-Chief Alex Marlow opened the interview, contending that Republicans often do not succeed when they move to the middle to appease the media.

Congressman Jordan agreed with Marlow, saying, “We’re best when we do what we said.”

Jordan continued, listing off several of the ways that President Donald Trump has kept his word with the American people.

Congressman Jordan said, “That’s what the president said in a year and a half in office that he’s had in office, it’s been amazing, regulations reduced, taxes cut, economy growing at 4.1 percent, unemployment at its lowest in 20 years. Gorsuch on the court, Kavanaugh on the deck, we’re out of the crazy Iran deal, the embassy has been moved to Jerusalem, and the hostages have been returned from North Korea.”

The Ohio conservative admitted the president has fulfilled his promise to the American people, although, Jordan said that Congress needs to carry out President Trump’s legislative agenda.

Jordan said, “When you look at that list, frankly, the taxes are good, and we played a part, Congress did, and I do not want to downplay that, but where’s the border security wall? Where’s repealing Obamacare, where’s reforming welfare and requiring people to work, where are all of the other things that we told Americans we would do? It’s really just that basic … it’s really about doing what we were elected to do.”

Congressman Jordan announced last week that he intends to run for Speaker of the House after the 2018 midterm elections. House Freedom Caucus Mark Meadows (R-NC) backed Jordan for Speaker, saying, he “is a fighter, a leader, and a true conservative.” Other prominent conservatives have also backed Jordan for the leader of the House of Representatives.

“Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, and Lou Dobbs, and almost every conservative group in the country are supporting us; I’ve been shocked and pleased by the support we’ve received just a week ahead of announcing that we’re planning to run,” Jordan said.

Jordan then explained his plan to both fund President Trump’s proposed border in the fall spending bill as well as establish work requirements for welfare programs such as food stamps.

Jordan told Marlow, “Here’s what we should do and I don’t think the [GOP] leadership is going to do. When we get back, we can send the House and the Senate a bill that funds the government and says that if you’re an able-bodied person and if you’re getting American people’s tax dollars you have to do something to get that money. That should be in the bill, along with a simple thing, here’s the money for the wall, start building the wall. Put those two things in it and then send it to the Senate and then for a month. And this is always what Republicans are afraid to do, for a month debate, we have a guy in the White House that’s pretty good at taking a message to the American people. He wants this wall, and he also wants people who are able-bodied [to work], I’ve been touring my district the last week, and every single employer I talk to says that they’re finding it difficult to find employees, to find people to work. That’s because we have too many people who do not work, who are on welfare, who are able-bodied and could be working. It’s not only good for the economy, it’s good for our employers, it’s also good for those people stuck on the welfare system. So do those two things and have the debate. Instead, what we always do is forfeit before we even kick the ball and play the game.”

The House Freedom Caucus leader added, “Say it plainly, tell it to the voters, you form a contract when you do that, and they elect you and go do what you said.”

We make the job of being in Congress too difficult of a job — way too complicated,” Jordan said.

Congressman Jordan then warned that if Democrats gain a majority in the House, they will only seek to impeach the president.

Jordan cautioned, “The Democrats will raise our taxes, abolish ICE, grow government, no welfare reform, and impeach the president, and socialized medicine.”

Congressman Jordan said, “My focus over the next three months is: let’s do everything we can to keep the majority and if we do, and I get the privilege to be Speaker, we are going to do everything that we said we were going to do and have a real debate, not just forfeiting before we start the game.”

Exclusive — Jim Jordan: Social Media Giants ‘Cannot Say They’re an Open Platform’ and Restrict Free Speech

House Freedom Caucus co-founder Jim Jordan (R-OH) told Breitbart News Daily in an exclusive interview on Friday that social media giants “cannot say they’re an open platform” and then restrict free speech.

Breitbart News Daily host Alex Marlow asked Jordan about the rampant censorship on social media, particularly on Twitter. Breitbart News reported that Twitter was engaging in shadow banning, a method by which Twitter can limit the reach of a Twitter account, including stopping a user’s followers from seeing tweets from their account. This practice has reportedly disproportionately affected conservatives on the platform.

House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) told Breitbart News in an exclusive statement on Thursday that he has called on Twitter to testify before the House Energy and Commerce Committee.

“It is impossible to ignore the fact that only one party is being slammed by this censorship, over and over again,” said McCarthy. “When only one side is doing the talking, you don’t call it a dialogue. You call it a lecture,” McCarthy said.

Marlow asked Jordan what he thought of Twitter’s censorship on Friday.

Congressman Jordan noted that he along with House Freedom Caucus Chairman Mark Meadows (R-NC), and Reps. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), and Devin Nunes (R-CA) were shadowbanned. Jordan emphasized that he, along with the three other conservatives, has led the charge to hold the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Department of Justice (DOJ) accountable for their actions during the Hillary Clinton email investigation.

“535 members between the House and the Senate and four, four, were shadow banned, Mark Meadows, Matt Gaetz, Devin Nunes, and Jim Jordan and Twitter just says it’s just a glitch in our algorithm,” Jordan said. “What did you put in the algorithm? Meadows, Gaetz, Nunes, and Jordan? How does it happen to be the four conservative individuals who happen to be leading the charge against the crazy things that have been going on at the FBI and the DOJ?”

The Ohio Republican continued, suggesting that he along with Rep. Meadows plan to hold a hearing on social media censorship when Congress comes back from the August recess.

Rep. Jordan said, “Mark and I are planning a hearing for the first day we come back in our two subcommittees, that we get the privilege of chairing on oversight, we’re going to figure out what the heck is going on here and ask Twitter some nice questions.”

Marlow then asked Jordan whether the government needs to regulate Twitter, Facebook, and Google to “rein in the tech giants.”

Congressman Jordan said, “They cannot say that they’re an open platform and then restrict certain kinds of speech. If you are an open platform, you’re an open platform, if not then you’re a newspaper, and you’re subject to different rules and regulations and different guidelines … you have to pick which one you are.”

“You want the benefits of being an open platform at the same time you want to restrict speech and it just so happens to be, it seems, to be speech coming from a conservative perspective,” Jordan continued. “That’s certainly what happened last week when had four conservative members, four Republicans, who have been focused on keeping the FBI and DOJ accountable for the ridiculous things they did, those are the ones who are targeted.”

Other politicians and tech experts have called for regulation of social media companies regarding their censorship practices.

House Communications and Technology Subcommittee Chairwoman Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) also told Breitbart News in an exclusive interview in June that social media companies need regulation regarding their privacy practices and censorship of conservatives and alternative voices on the Internet.

Former Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Wireless Bureau Chief Fred Campbell told Breitbart News in April that Congress should repeal the Communication’s Decency Act Section 230 “Safe Harbor provision.” Campbell said that Safe Harbor, a provision in the Communications and Decency Act of 1996, allows for Google, Facebook, and Twitter, to censor at will.

Campbell explained, “Here’s the real problem with Section 230: it empowers these Internet platforms to censor content while removing any accountability for their publications. The Constitution has always protected an individual’s right to defend themselves against libel or slander.”

“Section 230 overrides the common law and says that these Internet platforms can censor all they want and won’t be accountable for anything — for libel or any other falsehoods,” Campbell added.

Congressman Jordan added, “If they are going to continue to do this, we are going to do a different approach to this sort of organization.”
