Blue-Collar Workers Increasingly Optimistic Under Trump

Nearly two years into the Trump presidency, blue-collar workers are increasingly optimistic about their social and economic circumstances.

A new survey, conducted by the Harris Poll, found that 85 percent of blue-collar workers said their lives are advancing in "the right direction." The survey, commissioned by Express Employment Professionals, took place between July 9 and July 23. Data were collected from 1,049 blue-collar workers from across the nation who are employed in professions requiring manual labor.

Across the board, the results indicate America’s blue-collar workforce is sanguine about the nation’s current economic outlook and their own standing. Apart from the 85 percent of blue-collar Americans who said their lives are going in the right direction, 69 percent said their local communities are on the right path, and 58 percent view their states as being on a positive course.

The poll found 51 percent of blue-collar workers believe the country is heading in the right direction, a figure 12-percentage points higher than the 39 percent recorded amongst all Americans in a similar July Harvard-Harris Poll.

Overall, 55 percent of blue-collar Americans expressed they were better off today compared with five years ago.

Not only are blue-collar workers bullish about their current economic situation, they are also upbeat about the future. The survey found that 80 percent of blue-collar workers are optimistic about the future, with over one-third stating they were "very optimistic."

Among those with children, 88 percent of respondents indicated they believed their children were likely to attain a better future. This stands in stark contrast to data collected by the Pew Research Center in 2017, which showed only 37 percent of Americans believing their children would grow up to be better off financially.

Bill Stoller, the CEO of Express Employment Professionals, said his organization commissioned the poll to ascertain the optimism of blue-collar Americans, especially since so much attention is being paid to the group ahead of the 2018 midterms.

"There’s been a great deal of chatter about the future and frustrations of America’s blue-collar workers," Stoller said. "Our survey reveals that blue collar workers are upbeat, optimistic, and proud of the work they do. While the news is often full of stories about economic anxieties, this survey shows workers who are exceptionally optimistic."

In July 2018, the economy added 37,000 manufacturing jobs, boosting the total number created in the sector in the past 12 months to 327,000—the fastest rate of growth in 23 years. Likewise, the construction industry has added over 308,000 jobs in the past year, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The soaring economy, buoyed by the president’s tax cut package, has also translated into increased wages and bonuses for the American worker.

Over two-thirds of blue-collar workers—68 percent—reported receiving a pay increase in the past year, according to the Harris Poll. Of those who received a pay increase, 39 percent of respondents stated their raise equaled more than 5 percent of their annual earnings.

Despite the strong economic optimism found among blue-collar Americans, the group as a whole holds low opinions of elected officials and partisan politics.

Approximately 70 percent of the poll’s respondents expressed distrust in "elected government officials" and only 51 percent said the federal government advocates pro-business policies. On the topic of partisan affiliation, 39 percent said the Republican Party did a better job of helping blue-collar workers, compared with 36 percent who said the same of the Democratic Party. Almost one in four believed neither party did a sufficient job of helping blue-collar Americans.

Such numbers don’t bode well for the Democratic Party, which has long been identified as the home of blue-collar and working-class voters. A breakdown of voting patterns from the 2016 presidential election shows Trump did exceedingly better among this constituency than previous Republican contenders for the White House.

Complicating matters further for the Democratic Party is the fact that voters belonging to labor unions, long a vital component of the party’s base, are faring well under the economic policies of the Trump administration.

The Harris Poll found skilled trade workers, those more likely to belong to labor unions, indicated greater optimism about their present circumstances than general labor workers, who are less likely to be union members.

This was exhibited when the survey’s respondents were asked if their jobs provided "a good living" with which to "financially support" their families. In total, 80 percent of blue-collar workers said their current jobs provided the means to support their families, compared with 85 percent of skilled trade workers and only 72 percent of general laborers. Furthermore, 61 percent of skilled trade workers expressed they were better off today than five years ago, compared with 45 percent of general labor workers.

Mark Glyptis, the president of United Steelworkers Local 2911 in Weirton, W.Va., told the Washington Free Beacon there was no doubt about the economic resurgence being witnessed.

"There aren’t any questions that the economy is much better today," Glyptis said. "There is a huge demand for workers and skilled workers. In many cases, the demand for skilled workers greatly exceeds the number available."

Glyptis, who in the past has spoken favorably of the president and his trade policies, pointed to Trump’s economic strategy and his commitment to American manufacturing as the root cause of blue-collar optimism.

"Previous administrations, both Democratic and Republican, spent too much time worrying about foreign unemployment rates while neglecting our domestic economy," Glyptis said. "President Trump has made American manufacturing—especially steel—more competitive on the world stage by ensuring a level playing field. We didn’t have that ability under previous presidents."

"I have a big sense of optimism about the direction our country is headed," Glyptis added.

Sarah Palin, Loyal Running Mate, Excluded from John McCain’s Funeral

Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin, who was Sen. John McCain (R-AZ)’s running mate in the 2008 presidential election, has been excluded from his funeral.

Breitbart News has independently confirmed an earlier report in People magazine, which reported that Palin was not sent an invitation, and was told through intermediaries to stay away from the ceremony.

McCain fundraiser Carla Eudy confirmed to People that Palin had not been invited — possibly, People speculated, at the best of the McCain family.

The news comes on the tenth anniversary of the date in 2008 when Palin was announced as McCain’s pick for Vice President.

Palin now joins President Donald Trump on the list of those barred from the funeral.

But unlike Trump, Palin never feuded with McCain and never criticized him.

When news broke on Saturday of McCain’s passing, Palin said: “Today we lost an American original. Sen. John McCain was a maverick and a fighter, never afraid to stand for his beliefs. John never took the easy path in life — and through sacrifice and suffering he inspired others to serve something greater than self.

“John McCain was my friend. I will remember the good times. My family and I send prayers for Cindy and the McCain family.”

Last year, when McCain was reported to have said that he regretted choosing Palin instead of Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-VT), Palin described the news as a “gut punch” but refused to blame McCain personally, telling the UK Daily Mail that she blamed his “ghostwriters” for such reports.

When McCain selected Palin as his running mate, the two had both built reputations as corruption-busting “maverick” leaders who were not afraid to buck their own parties.

After the 2008 election, they moved in separate political directions.

Palin became an inspirational figure for the Tea Party and for grassroots conservatives in general. McCain campaigned as a conservative border hawk in his 2010 re-election race, but became a harsh critic of the Tea Party, calling Sens. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Rand Paul (R-KY) “wacko birds.”

Many in the Beltway blamed Palin for McCain’s loss in 2008 — even though Barack Obama had benefited from a sudden financial crisis and a biased press corps. That view seemed to have seeped into McCain’s own thinking.

Still, Palin never took offense, and always honored McCain. Even after being excluded from the funeral, she declined to criticize him.

People quoted a source close to the Palin family: “[O]ut of respect for Sen. McCain and his family we have nothing to add at this point. The Palin family will always cherish their friendship with the McCains and hold those memories dear.”

McCain will be laid to rest on Sunday in Annapolis, following several days of memorial events and ceremonies.

Report: Chinese Hacked Hillary Server, Killed 12 CIA Sources While Server Was at Clinton Residence

Russian computer hacking might have been the least of Hillary Clinton’s security breaches.

The former secretary of state’s email scandal is back in the headlines, and its impact on American national security might have been even worse than Americans knew.

And deadly for American intelligence sources in China.

According to a Daily Caller News Foundation report, the unauthorized, unsecured computer server Clinton used while serving as the United States top diplomat – privy to some of the deepest secrets in the national security community – was penetrated by a Chinese firm “involved in collecting intelligence for China.”

As the DCNF reported:

TRENDING: Real-Life ‘Fury’: Watch First Person Footage of Tank in Vicious Ambush

“The Chinese firm obtained Clinton’s emails in real time as she sent and received communications and documents through her personal server, according to the sources, who said the hacking was conducted as part of an intelligence operation.

“The Chinese wrote code that was embedded in the server, which was kept in Clinton’s residence in upstate New York. The code generated an instant ‘courtesy copy’ for nearly all of her emails and forwarded them to the Chinese company, according to the sources.”

In other words, an American secretary of state who felt entitled to work on her own amateurish computer system had exposed all of her correspondence to one of the country’s most powerful and dangerous rivals in world affairs.

And it’s very possible that at least 12 operatives serving United States intelligence agencies paid for Clinton’s security breach with their lives.

Do you think Clinton’s emails led the Chinese to American intelligence operatives?

According to a New York Times report from May 2017, a successful Chinese counterintelligence operation that started in 2010 “systematically dismantled C.I.A. spying operations in the country starting in 2010, killing or imprisoning more than a dozen sources over two years and crippling intelligence gathering there for years afterward.”

“From the final weeks of 2010 through the end of 2012, according to former American officials, the Chinese killed at least a dozen of the C.I.A.’s sources,” The Times reported. “According to three of the officials, one was shot in front of his colleagues in the courtyard of a government building — a message to others who might have been working for the C.I.A.”

Maybe it’s a coincidence, but 2010 was Clinton’s first full year as secretary of state.

Naturally, she would not have been in on every detail of covert CIA operations, but it’s entirely possible that Chinese intelligence services reading her correspondence in real time would be able to glean enough information to identify where the United States might have intelligence assets within China.

After a year of getting such information, it’s not hard to imagine the Chinese intelligence services having enough to take drastic, deadly action against sources helping their American rivals.

RELATED: Chinese Had Live Stream of Hillary’s Emails, Report Says

At any rate, a report that Clinton’s server had been thoroughly and professionally hacked by Chinese intelligence is circulating now, more than a year after the Times reported a disastrous breach in American intelligence operations taking place in China at the same time that the Clinton breach occurred.

It’s not a big stretch to put those two items together.

Clinton’s tenure as secretary of state is infamous for many reasons, but her bungling of American diplomatic security that led to the deaths of four Americans in Benghazi, Libya, then lying shamelessly to the American people about what happened is one of the worst.

Having her government email being hacked by Chinese intelligence, in an operation that coincided with a roll-up of American intelligence operations in China – and the deaths of operatives working for American interests – is a disaster to rival that.

Russia, the United States’ other big rival on the world stage, has long been known to have been engaged in intelligence operations targeting the Democrat National Committee, and by extension, Hillary’s campaign.

But Russian hacking might have been the least of Clinton’s leaks.

NM Jihadis Planned to Strike GA Hospital, Trained Kids to Target LEOs

Five New Mexico adults accused of running a strange jihadist training camp had apparently planned to strike a hospital in Atlanta and law enforcement, according to multiple reports.

Siraj Wahhaj, 40, and his partner, Jany Leveille, 35, are facing life in prison due to a abuse of a child resulting in death, CNN reports.

Meanwhile, Hujrah Wahhaj, Subhannah Wahhaj and Lucas Morten also face charges.

WSB-TV in Atlanta reported that 11 children rescued from the New Mexico compound detailed the plans to hit at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, which they arrested adults saw as a “corrupt” institution.

The children say that Wahhaj and Leveille wanted to “confront corrupt institutions or individuals,” and that included the hospital, the station reported.

Leveille was angry “with Grady Hospital due to the treatment her mother received there,” according to court papers.

The children also said that they had received “advanced firearms handling and had been instructed to shoot law enforcement personnel when the time came and that they would be instructed in the future to attack specific targets such as teachers, schools, banks and other ‘corrupt institutions,’” CNN reported.

A document called “Phases of a Terrorist Attack” was also recovered from the compound, according to CNN..

The 10-page, andwritten manual, according to a court filing, included “instructions for ‘The one-time terrorist,’ instructions on the use of a ‘choke point,’ a location ‘called the ideal attack site,’ the ‘ability to defend the safe haven,’ the ‘ability to escape-perimeter rings,’ and ‘sniper position detection procedure.’”

Do you think there are more terror cells like this out there in the United States?

The children also said that Morten “stated he wished to die in Jihad, as a martyr.”

“At times, Jany Leveille would laugh and joke about dying in Jihad as would Subhanna Wahhaj,” court documents say.

And then there was a letter from Morten giving encouragemnent to Siraj Wahhaj’s brother to follow Allah “until he makes you die a martyr as you wanted and the only way is by joining the righteous.”

This whole squalid case began on Aug. 3, when police raided the New Mexico compound in search of Abdul-Ghani Wahhaj, a 3-year-old who had been taken from Georgia and was suffering medical problems. His remains were later found on the property,

Meanwhile, 11 other children were found living on the squalid compound. The training they received was extensive, and it wasn’t as if it wasn’t going to amount to anything.

RELATED: Judge: NM Authorities Unfairly Discriminated Against Muslims Training for Jihad

“The court document also revealed Siraj Wahhaj had instructed the group to defend the compound with weapons in the event of a nighttime police raid,” CNN reported.

“Authorities have said the property included a makeshift shooting range. Police said they recovered an AR-15 rifle, loaded 30-round magazines, four loaded pistols and many rounds of ammunition.”

“The children told investigators in recent interviews that a tunnel on the property was to be used as an ‘escape route’ if police arrived as Siraj Wahhaj and Morten ‘stayed behind and battled with police,’ according to Friday’s court filing.”

“The guns located at the exit of the tunnel were stored there … so that as the group exited the tunnel, the group could arm themselves with weapons and ammunition,” court documents said.

Meanwhile, as The Associated Press reported, bail was set at $20,000 for the defendants and little  mention of a jihadist sect seemed to make its way into the media. I guess we were all too busy with Omarosa.

ICE Reveals Loophole of Its Own, Arrests Illegal in Sanctuary State

Loopholes are a good thing. We always want the law to defer to less government, not more.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement found that loopholes can even make it possible to enforce the law in sanctuary states. The arrest of Yovanny Ontiveros-Cebreros by ICE agents happened at the Sacramento Superior Court in the sanctuary state of California.

Ontiveros-Cebreros’ lawyer, Charles Pecheco, was furious.

“The judge was weak — he had no control of his courtroom, and allowed the federal government to come into his court. He just wanted to neutralize the situation, so he could figure out what was going on, and then he felt that it was justified that the (ICE) guy said there was a warrant for illegal re-entry,” Pecheco said.

But Superior Court Judge Lawrence Brown was not about to have the rule of law challenged in his courtroom.

TRENDING: DOJ SOP: Indict Pro-Trump Office Holders After Primary, Before General Election

In response to the lawyer, Judge Brown said “the court was mindful of the concerns raised by counsel about a chilling effect on undocumented persons coming to court – one articulated far more thoughtfully by the Chief Justice of California – but such concerns could not impede enforcing a lawfully-issued warrant at the moment.”

Ouch.

Allowing law enforcement to do their jobs has had an amazing effect.

President Donald Trump unleashed ICE along our southern border, and illegal crossings hit a 46-year low less than halfway through his first term. However, not everyone is as excited about effective law enforcement as heartland America.

State Supreme Court chief justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye is one of the critics.

In a letter to U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions and then-Secretary of Homeland Security John Kelly, she wrote: “enforcement policies that include stalking courthouses and arresting undocumented immigrants, the vast majority of whom pose no risk to public safety, are neither safe nor fair.”

The response letter from Kelly and Sessions doubles down on their support of ICE agents.

“As ICE undertakes the necessary enforcement of our country’s immigration laws, its officers and agents will continually improve their operations to meet the challenges to effective enforcement, including state and local policies that hinder their efforts,” the letter reads.

“Such policies threaten public safety, rather than enhance it. As a result, ICE officers and agents are required to locate and arrest these aliens in public places, rather than in secure jail facilities where the risk of injury to the public, the alien, and the officer is significantly increased because the alien can more readily access a weapon, resist arrest, or flee.”

RELATED: Media Says Sessions, Trump Are Feuding, New Report Says Otherwise

The letter is straightforward and the message is clear. If you want a safer country, let law enforcement do their job.

What a novel concept.

“Stand for the anthem”: New Ted Cruz ad targets Beto O’Rourke’s NFL protest comments

I repeat what I said on Friday, that it would be political malpractice for a Republican running in Texas not to make hay of a Democrat siding with people protesting during the national anthem. But:

1. It’s odd that the ad lets O’Rourke make his case in his own words, with footage of his remarks. His concluding point, showcased here, was that he could think of nothing more American than standing up for one’s rights at any time. That’s the best possible way to spin what the players are doing during the anthem.

2. The sheer amount of attention Cruz has devoted to this issue over the last week tells you where the GOP is right now. Culture war, not small government. Cruz will still run through his “constitutional conservative” shtick at the debates with O’Rourke, I’m sure, but the populist appeals that drove Republican turnout in the tea-party era are not entirely the same as the populist appeals that drive turnout in the Trump era. Sure, sure, O’Rourke’s a big-government gun-grabbing liberal — but he supports Colin Kaepernick. Even in Texas, trying to turn the election into a referendum on the power of far-flung Washington bureaucrats to micro-manage the average joe is riskier than turning it into a test of who loves the flag more.

3. Is the fact that Cruz is going full-blown culture warrior evidence that the race is closer than everyone thinks? New from Emerson College polling:

Reliable or no? Well, it’s an online poll and the number of undecided voters there is waaaay higher than other pollsters are showing. But Emerson’s results have been decent this year and other recent polls have also showed the race tightening (the last three surveys of the race have Cruz up two, six, and four points). This same poll also shows Greg Abbott winning reelection in a blowout, so it’s not as though Emerson has an anti-Republican “house effect.” These debates are going to be more important than anyone expected.

Exit question: If O’Rourke pulls the upset in November, does Cruz end up replacing Jeff Sessions as AG? He reportedly interviewed for the job after the election, during the transition phase. And Trump is in the market for a new Attorney General.

SARA CARTER: Pentagon Whistleblower Exposes Trump Campaign Spy Stefan Halper’s Significant Ties to Russia “It Was All a Set-Up”

SARA CARTER: Pentagon Whistleblower Exposes Trump Campaign Spy Stefan Halper’s Significant Ties to Russia “It Was All a Set-Up”

Pentagon analyst and whistleblower Adam Lovinger

As previously reported, in the fall of 2016, Pentagon analyst Adam Lovinger complained to his bosses about Trump campaign spy Stefan Halper’s exorbitant contracts.

The informant, Stefan Halper, was paid a total of $411,575 in 2016 and 2017 for work with the US government that included spying on the Trump campaign.

Not only was Stefan Halper paid over $400,000 by the Washington Headquarters, an $11 million contract was also granted to D.C. consulting firm Long Term Strategy Group– The firm is owned by Chelsea Clinton’s best friend, Jacqueline Newmyer Deal.

In the fall of 2016, 12-year Pentagon analyst and whistleblower Adam Lovinger complained to his bosses about Stefan Halper’s exorbitant contracts.

In May 2017 Adam Lovinger was stripped of his security clearance for speaking out against the questionable contracts to Stefan Halper.

Adam Lovinger was dispatched to the NSC from the Pentagon following General Mike Flynn’s departure from the White House. Lovinger, an ally of Flynn, was reportedly removed by White House official H. R. McMaster.

Adam Lovinger’s lawyer Sean Bigley told Sara Carter the Pentagon ‘refused to turn over a single page of its purported evidence of Lovinger’s wrongdoing.’

Lovinger’s attorney, Mr, Bigley spoke with investigative reporter Sara Carter and said “It was all a set up.”

Via Sara Carter:

Lovinger also raised concerns about Halper’s role in conducting what appeared to be diplomatic meetings with foreigners on behalf of the U.S. government because his role as contractor forbids him from doing so, according to U.S. federal law.

An investigation by SaraACarter.com reveals that the documents and information Lovinger stumbled on and other documents obtained by this news site, raise troubling questions about Halper, who was believed to have worked with the CIA and part of the matrix of players in the bureau’s ‘CrossFire Hurricane’ investigation into Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign. Halper, who assisted the FBI in the Russia investigation, appears to also have significant ties to the Russian government, as well as sources connected directly to President Vladimir Putin.

Halper did not respond to requests for comment.

“When Mr. Lovinger raised concerns about DoD’s misuse of Stefan Halper in 2016, he did so without any political designs or knowledge of Mr. Halper’s spying activities,” Bigley told SaraACarter.com. “Instead, Mr. Lovinger simply did what all Americans should expect of our civil servants: he reported violations of law and a gross waste of public funds to his superiors.”

Although the Clinton crony may have played a role in targeting Lovinger for retaliation, Mr. Bigley says his client unwittingly shined the light on on Halper.

“Mr. Lovinger unwittingly shined a spotlight on the deep state’s secret weapon – Stefan Halper – and threatened to expose the truth about the Trump-Russia collusion narrative than being plotted: that it was all a set-up.”

Sara Carter exposes Stefan Halper’s ties to Russia…

Halper, along with Dearlove, left the Cambridge Intelligence Seminar in December 2016, saying they were concerned about Russian influence. Halper had told reporters at the time that it was due to “unacceptable Russian influence.”

Trump campaign spy Stefan Halper

Ironically, documents obtained by SaraACarter.com suggest that Halper also had invited senior Russian intelligence officials to co-teach his course on several occasions and, according to news reports, also accepted money to finance the course from a top Russian oligarch with ties to Putin.

Several course syllabi from 2012 and 2015 obtained by this outlet reveal Hapler had invited and co-taught his course on intelligence with the former Director of Russian Intelligence Gen. Vladimir I. Trubnikov.

On May 4, 2012, the course syllabus states, “Ambassador Vladimir I. Trubnikov will comment on the challenges faced while directing the Foreign Intelligence Service, his tenure as Ambassador to India, President Putin and the likely course of Russia’s relations with Britain and the U.S.”

In May 2015, Trubnikov returned to teach with Halper at his seminar in Cambridge on “current relations between the Russian Federation and the West.” Other notable intelligence experts attended the event in 2015, including Major Gen.Peter Williams, a former British commander of the mission to the Soviet Forces in Germany.

Even more interesting are reports from the British Media outlet, The Financial Times, that state Halper received funds for the Cambridge seminar from Russian billionaire Andrey Cheglakov, who has close ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin. Cheglakov also funded Veruscript in 2016, which raised the suspicion of Dearlove and those connected to the seminar. Veruscript, a publisher for a Russian academic journal, was suspected by MI6 of being a front for Russian intelligence. Kent also happened to be the editor and chief of the journal. He published the inaugural article in the journal “The Journal of Intelligence and Terrorism”  blaming the West for the Russian invasion into Crimea but the journal closed down due to their suspicions.

Read Sara Carter’s full report here.

Last Monday, conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch announced it sued the Defense Department on behalf of Lovinger who lost his security clearance after blowing the whistle the Trump campaign spy planted by Obama’s corrupt FBI.

Pedophile Appears In Court. Victim’s Dad Sends Him To Hospital.

Hard not to sympathize with the dad.

Via Daily Wire:

A convicted sex offender received an unpleasant surprise when he arrived in court for sentencing on August 22 when he was attacked by the father of one of his victims.

Donald Courtney Biggs, 40, pleaded guilty in February “to a felony count of transporting a minor with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity in a case that the U.S. Attorney’s Office says involves at least two years of secret recordings of juveniles changing clothes, showering and using the bathroom in his home, on multiple church trips and at summer camps,” the Mail Tribune reported.

During the sentencing, 45-year-old Kevin Patrick Smith, who is reportedly the father of one of the victims, jumped over the railing and punched Biggs.
