“Subliminal” Trump policy driving illegals off federal programs

Say, did you hear about that new Donald Trump program which will prevent immigrants from receiving green cards or make illegal aliens easier to track down and deport if they sign up for programs like food stamps? Me neither, because there is no such program. (It’s been discussed but hasn’t gone anywhere.) But that hasn’t stopped rumors from making the rounds on the streets and it has “undocumented” immigrants (as well as valid visa holders, sadly) calling up their local officials and demanding to be removed from the rolls of programs such as WIC. (Politico)

Immigrants are turning down government help to buy infant formula and healthy food for their young children because they’re afraid the Trump administration could bar them from getting a green card if they take federal aid.

Local health providers say they’ve received panicked phone calls from both documented and undocumented immigrant families demanding to be dropped from the rolls of WIC, a federal nutrition program aimed at pregnant women and children, after news reports that the White House is potentially planning to deny legal status to immigrants who’ve used public benefits. Agencies in at least 18 states say they’ve seen drops of up to 20 percent in enrollment, and they attribute the change largely to fears about the immigration policy.

The Trump administration hasn’t officially put the policy in place yet, but even without a formal rule, families are already being scared away from using services, health providers say.

One immigration attorney from El Paso is quoted as saying, “It’s a stealth regulation. It doesn’t really exist, but it’s being applied subliminally.” So this is a “subliminal program?”

That’s quite the complaint, I must say. Presidential administrations discuss new programs and regulations all the time, but that doesn’t mean they’re going to happen. I’d kind of hoped that all the talk of Trump building a wall would massively cut back on people coming to try to illegally cross the border. But the lack of an actual, you know… wall showing up in most places seems to have blunted the desired effect.

This unofficial, non-existent policy is producing both positive and negative results. Most government benefit programs of this type, such as SNAP for one example, are not supposed to be available to illegal immigrants. The only people eligible are those who are a U.S. citizen or an eligible, lawfully-present non-citizen. But some states, such as Illinois, have gotten around this by instituting policies which forbid government employees from asking about a person’s immigration status when they apply. Illegal aliens shouldn’t be receiving such benefits, so if these rumors are causing them to remove themselves from the rolls, I suppose that’s just an unintended bonus.

But if eligible immigrants awaiting the processing of their requests are unenrolling, that’s a problem. The question is, what are we supposed to do about it?

The government is charged with educating the public about available programs which may be of help to them. But are they responsible for telling people that imaginary programs don’t exist? An interesting question to say the least. They could spend all their days chasing down rumors and batting them down like some sort of whack-a-mole game. It sounds as if most of the action is taking place via people calling in to their local offices and asking to be removed. If the workers handling these calls are trained to tell the people with valid paperwork that they have nothing to worry about, the problem should really take care of itself.

Feminist Crazies Show Up To Kavanaugh Hearing In ‘Handmaid’s Tale’ Costumes

Predictably, feminists wearing the iconic red hooded cloak over a white bonnet from the famed Hulu series "The Handmaid’s Tale" showed up to protest Trump’s Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearing on Monday.
A statement issued by the feminist protesters to The Hill decried Brett Kavanaugh as an "extremist" who will strip away women’s rights.

Fraud Alert: Andrew Gillum Gives Typical Democrat Response When Asked About $33 Trillion Dollar Plan

Move over, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez: Andrew Gillum is the new star of the far-left. And he has your interview skills, too!

Gillum, you may have heard, is the latest socialist or socialist-leaning candidate to score an upset in a primary, defeating former Rep. Gwen Graham, among others, for the Democrat nod for Florida governor.

The Sanders-endorsed Gillum said that “we can run wholly on our values” and win the governor’s mansion.

“We can talk to people in a common-sensical way about the issues that confront them, and quite frankly it doesn’t matter if you’re in the rural Panhandle of Florida or the I-4 corridor,” Gillum said, according to The Hill.

Being “common-sensical” to Gillum includes support for “Medicare for all,” another Sanders-endorsed gem. However, he seems rather … well, Ocasio-Cortezish on the details.

TRENDING: Dem Socialist Candidate Ousted by Own Family for Being Nothing But a Fraud

Gillum was interviewed about his support for the plan, which would expand Medicare to the point where it was ostensibly a universal health care program. During a Gillum appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday, host Dana Bash noted that a recent study from the libertarian-leaning Mercatus Center at George Mason University found that the program would cost $33 trillion over 10 years.

The number was actually $32.6 trillion; those right-wingers at CNN are always trying to inflate the cost of federal programs. Clearly, the conservative bias in the questioning was why Gillum couldn’t coherently explain how he was going to pay for it all:

I was halfway expecting him to say, “I am not the expert on geopoli– I mean, universal health care.” But basically, he doesn’t know a whole lot about the plan or how it would work, just the usual lies to explain all the concerns away.

Do you think “Medicare for all” is a good idea?

The one thing we can all take away from the whole thing was that he won’t be raising taxes, except on the people and corporations he’ll be raising taxes on.

The rest of it was just typical Democrat campaign-speak. Florida couldn’t do this alone, except it could have done something like this this but Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis, Gillum’s GOP opponent, are somehow making health care less affordable or whatever.

Details are wholly absent — and credit Bash with actually following up on this — but just like Sanders, Gillum’s going to make the whole thing work even though he doesn’t seem to have the slightest idea how.

But, you know. He had to have his teeth cleaned by the mobile dental clinic, so vote for him. The fallacy of the argument from experience has been given new life in the era of David Hogg, where all you have to say is, “Well, (x) happened to me, and therefore, don’t question me on this issue.”

According to Public Policy Polling, a Democrat-leaning organization, a post-primary survey shows Gillum with a 5-point lead on DeSantis, who (judging by the fact that Gillum seems to loathe his health care policies intensely) wouldn’t actually embark on some kind of mission to bankrupt the state of Florida and/or the nation.

Gillum seems to know that he can’t do it alone in Florida, which wouldn’t make it the first state to realize universal coverage simply wouldn’t work.

On the national level, though, he’s more than willing to sell it. If Florida can’t go it alone, America can’t afford to go it together. And much like his patron, Sen. Sanders, Gillum can’t come up with a way to pay for it except to sell it through fraud and emotion — the typical Democrat response.

For the sake of Floridians, one hopes that 5-point gap closes awfully fast.

Bob Woodward’s Latest Book Meant to be Hit On Trump May Actually Make Trump Look Good

Bob Woodward’s Latest Book Meant to be Hit On Trump May Actually Make Trump Look Good

The Washington Post published a preview of Post reporter Bob Woodward’s new book on the Trump presidency, Fear, that, contrary to the establishment view makes President Trump look good.

Woodward paints a portrayal of the Trump White House as having a “nervous breakdown” and an “administrative coup d’etat”. What comes across is what Trump supporters already know about Trump: He relies on his instincts, he is learning as he goes and has been beset by disloyal operatives determined to preserve the ways of Washington, D.C., and prevent him from ‘draining the swamp.’ Others come off as utterly incapable of understanding how Trump thinks and operates. That’s not to say Trump is perfect and beyond criticism or doubt, but that how he is portrayed in the book is from the perspective of those who don’t get him.

Most telling is when Woodward writes about Trump’s foreign policy. He scares the Pentagon with a request for plans for a preemptive strike on North Korea, rails about taking out Syria’s dictator Bashar al-Assad and his regime following a chemical weapons attack and he dresses down generals over their failure to secure Afghanistan after nearly two decades of war there.

“Woodward recounts repeated episodes of anxiety inside the government over Trump’s handling of the North Korean nuclear threat. One month into his presidency, Trump asked Dunford for a plan for a preemptive military strike on North Korea, which rattled the combat veteran.”

“After Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad launched a chemical attack on civilians in April 2017, Trump called Mattis and said he wanted to assassinate the dictator. “Let’s fucking kill him! Let’s go in. Let’s kill the fucking lot of them,” Trump said, according to Woodward. (Note, the Post published the profanity in full.)

Mattis told the president that he would get right on it. But after hanging up the phone, he told a senior aide: “We’re not going to do any of that. We’re going to be much more measured.” The national security team developed options for the more conventional airstrike that Trump ultimately ordered.”

“The book also details Trump’s impatience with the war in Afghanistan, which had become America’s longest conflict. At a July 2017 National Security Council meeting, Trump dressed down his generals and other advisers for 25 minutes, complaining that the United States was losing, according to Woodward.

“The soldiers on the ground could run things much better than you,” Trump told them. “They could do a much better job. I don’t know what the hell we’re doing.” He went on to ask, “How many more deaths? How many more lost limbs? How much longer are we going to be there?”

The book also claims Trump’s lawyer John Down trashed Trump in a meeting with Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

John Dowd was convinced that President Trump would commit perjury if he talked to special counsel Robert S. Mueller III. So, on Jan. 27, the president’s then-personal attorney staged a practice session to try to make his point.

In the White House residence, Dowd peppered Trump with questions about the Russia investigation, provoking stumbles, contradictions and lies until the president eventually lost his cool.

“This thing’s a goddamn hoax,” Trump erupted at the start of a 30-minute rant that finished with him saying, “I don’t really want to testify.”…

The book vividly recounts the ongoing debate between Trump and his lawyers about whether the president would sit for an interview with Mueller. On March 5, Dowd and Trump attorney Jay Sekulow met in Mueller’s office with the special counsel and his deputy, James Quarles, where Dowd and Sekulow reenacted Trump’s January practice session.

Dowd then explained to Mueller and Quarles why he was trying to keep the president from testifying: “I’m not going to sit there and let him look like an idiot. And you publish that transcript, because everything leaks in Washington, and the guys overseas are going to say, ‘I told you he was an idiot. I told you he was a goddamn dumbbell. What are we dealing with this idiot for?’ ”

“John, I understand,” Mueller replied, according to Woodward”

What is missing, of course, from the Post report on Woodward’s book is any mention of Trump’s successes, from the growing economy, tax cuts, deregulation, record low unemployment among minorities, the crushing of the ISIS caliphate, getting North Korea to pause nuclear weapons and missile testing, the ongoing trade deal renegotiations and the record pace of judicial appointees confirmed are among many successes that have helped put Trump on par with President Barack Obama’s poll approval at the the same time in his presidency.

Deep State FBI Refuses to Perform Damage Assessment of Hillary’s Private Server – Despite Deaths-Imprisonment of 18-20 CIA Operatives

Deep State FBI Refuses to Perform Damage Assessment of Hillary’s Private Server – Despite Deaths-Imprisonment of 18-20 CIA Operatives

Hillary’s carelessness and criminal actions may have led to the deaths of 20 CIA operatives in China.

The Chinese government killed or imprisoned 18 to 20 CIA operatives in China from 2010 to 2012.

At the same time a Chinese-owned company operating in the Washington, D.C., area hacked Hillary Clinton’s private server throughout her term as secretary of state.

The Chinese government was obtaining Hillary Clinton’s emails in real time.

Her criminal behavior severely damaged US foreign policy.

And the FBI refused to act.

But the deep state FBI is not interested in performing a damage assessment of Hillary Clinton’s private server.

Tom Fitton from Judicial Watch told Tucker Carlson last week that the FBI does not want to know the possible results of an internal investigation.

And they wonder why Americans no longer trust the biased and corrupt agency?

Former Senator Jon Kyl Appointed to Fill McCain’s Senate Seat

Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey (R.) announced Tuesday that former Arizona Sen. Jon Kyl, a fellow Republican, will fill the Senate seat previously held by the late Sen. John McCain.

McCain’s widow, Cindy McCain, tweeted on Tuesday her congratulations and support for Kyl.

"John Kyl is a dear friend of mine and John’s," Cindy McCain tweeted. "It’s a great tribute to John that he is prepared to go back into public service to help the state of Arizona."

Ducey, responding to Cindy McCain on Twitter, said he is "deeply grateful to Senator Kyl for agreeing to succeed his friend and colleague of so many years."

Ducey confirmed the appointment during a news conference on Tuesday.

Kyl served in the Senate from 1995 to 2013, representing Arizona. He decided not to run for reelection in 2012 and was succeeded by Sen. Jeff Flake (R.). From 2007 until he left the Senate in 2013, he was the Senate minority whip.

In 2020, a special election will be held to determine who will hold the remainder–another two years–of what would have been McCain’s term. The seat will then be on the ballot again in 2022. State law prescribes how a vacant seat in Congress is filled after a death, resignation or expulsion.

Cindy McCain and daughter Meghan McCain were both rumored to be potential candidates to fill the vacant seat.

Kyl’s appointment to the Senate will restore the 51-49 majority held by Republicans.
