White House Deputy Spokesman Hogan Gidley went on FOX and Friends Saturday morning to discuss the latest Democrat shutdown.
President Trump promised to shut down the government if there was no funding for border security and a barrier wall.
The shutdown of 25% of the government workforce is now in its 9th hours.
Hogan Gidley: What he repeatedly has said is he demands some type of security for the nation. That includes a wall… What we have now is a government being shut down by a handful of Democrats who refuse to stand up and protect the American people… I’m less concerned about the political argument and more concerned about the American people and that’s where the president sits. I do think it should be noted. So many people didn’t cover this. The United States under Donald Trump’s leadership and also with help from Secretary Nielson entered into a deal with Mexico where people coming for asylum into this country through Mexico are now held in Mexico until their case is adjudicated in the United States. That saves America billions of dollars but it also shows us a coupe things. That the Mexican government is now doing more to help our immigration system and doing more to protect the American people than the Democrats.

Jair Bolsonaro will assume the presidency of Brazil next month with a mandate to establish trustworthy institutions in his country after nearly two decades of socialism.
Rather than being intimidated by the scope of this domestic objective, Bolsonaro and his Social Liberal Party (PSL) appear keen on not just rehabilitating Brazil, but establishing an international coalition of anti-socialists to prevent the spread of Marxist ideology, particularly in Latin America, where leftists spent most of the 21st century in power partially thanks to their robust support networks.
In his most direct foreign policy message yet, Bolsonaro stated this week that his administration would do “everything we can within legality, within democracy, against these countries,” referring to Cuba and Venezuela. He argued that Brazil’s security will remain in jeopardy so long as leftist regimes exist in the hemisphere, and has sought cooperation with right-wing leaders to eradicate the threat for all affected states.
Bolsonaro’s call for a united conservative front in the Americas is a mirror image goal to what the left has done for decades. Led by late dictators Fidel Castro and Hugo Chávez, leaders like Bolivia’s Evo Morales, Argentina’s Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, Chile’s Michelle Bachelet, Brazil’s Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, and Nicaragua’s Daniel Ortega mastered the art of using multilateral venues to promote their agenda. For over a decade, they dominated institutions like the Organization of American States (OAS) and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), turning them into anti-American soapboxes. They cultivated ties with enemies of Washington like Russia, China, and Iran, all desperate for influence in the Western Hemisphere.

Often, they created their own institutions to ensure constant contact and coordination, ensuring their regimes increasingly mimicked each other and prevented anti-socialist opposition movements throughout Latin America from reinforcing each other. Hugo Chávez and Fidel Castro created the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of our America (ALBA), an alternative to the OAS, in 2004. Over a decade prior, Castro and Lula da Silva created the Sao Paulo Forum.
Few in Bolsonaro’s coalition will fail to mention the Sao Paulo Forum in conversation. Founded by Lula da Silva and Fidel Castro, the Forum, as described by Brazilian philosopher Olavo de Carvalho, “is the largest political organization to have ever existed in Latin America and, without a doubt, one of the largest in the world. All the leftist rulers on the continent are members.” Conservatives in the country call it “Brazil’s worst enemy,” as it emboldens international socialist and communist leaders and allows them to organize and support each other across state borders.
The Sao Paulo Forum has already declared war on the allegedly “xenophobic, racist, misogynist, and homophobic” Bolsonaro, issuing a statement of repudiation following his election in October.
Bolsonaro’s allies, meanwhile, have begun building their own alternatives. This month, members of the PSL organized the Conservative Summit of the Americas, an event inviting regional anti-socialists to partake in forums discussing how to improve the quality of life in their respective states and fight the specter of communism in the region – in government, academia, and media. At the event, Jair Bolsonaro described the fight against communism as an “obligation” that Brazil, as South America’s largest nation, must fulfill. Brazil will “join other nations” to fight for “democracy, freedom,” he said, adding, “we will not leave the Cuban people.”
Prince Luiz Philippe de Orléans e Bragança – a member of Brazil’s royal family who won a congressional seat representing Sao Paulo as a member of the PSL, the first of his family to assume office since 1889 – told Breitbart News in an interview shortly after attending the Conservative Summit that these venues need to be a priority precisely because of the tremendous impact the Sao Paulo Forum has had in promoting socialism.
“Socialist movements … created a network of communication and sustainability,” he explained. “The Foro de Sao Paulo… what they have done is set up a network of financing revolutionary parties, revolutionary progressive movements that are disruptive of society across the region.”
Even in a federal presidential system far from the regimes of Cuba and Venezuela, he argued, “wherever a Sao Paulo Forum member takes hold of public tax revenues, they will use it for the benefit of the [leftists in the] whole region, so it is a global network … an evil empire that they have created of financing schemes.”

Orléans e Bragança suggested that conservatives must learn from their unity, if not their lax interpretation of campaign finance laws. “If we do not have a similar type of network of communication, of addressing political change and preserving identity as far as global identity and citizenship, and nation-states, the Foro de Sao Paulo guys will win.”
The newly elected congressman expressed optimism for his country and, due to the size of Brazil, the region as a whole.
“We have a tremendous advantage now because the largest country in the region has turned to the right,” he noted. Expressing shock that some young Americans are comfortable referring to themselves as socialist, he noted, “in Brazil, it’s the reverse, you see the younger generation claiming to be conservative with honor and pride, which is totally unheard of. I have never in my life heard a Brazilian say they are conservative.”
This rightward shift – which Orléans e Bragança is quick to note is not a sharp rightward turn to military rule, as some in American mainstream media have claimed, but a pivot towards “a democratic regime of limited government, of decentralization of power” – has also inspired hope in anti-socialist advocates and security experts who have long warned that the Cuba-Venezuela axis presents a dire security threat for the hemisphere.
Among those Bolsonaro has brought closest into his circle are pro-democracy Cuban activists. On Thursday, Bolsonaro welcomed to his home Dr. Orlando Gutiérrez-Boronat, the head of the Assembly of Cuban Resistance, a Cuban-American advocacy group. Gutiérrez-Boronat, who also participated in the Conservative Summit of the Americas, told Breitbart News in an interview from Rio de Janeiro that he left the meeting feeling confident in what Bolsonaro is trying to build.
“This is a solid anti-Communist movement grounded in Brazilian history, with a formidable intellectual framework and a clear notion of Brazilian national security priorities,” Gutiérrez-Boronat said. “Ignoring the Communist regime in Cuba has been a calamity for Latin America, which Bolsonaro is addressing in his foreign policy vision.”
Joseph Humire, the executive director of the Center for a Secure Free Society and an expert on Iranian infiltration of Marxist regimes in Latin America, told Breitbart News that he, too, expects Bolsonaro’s leadership to make it more difficult for Venezuela and Cuba to enable groups like Hezbollah.
“Almost all Islamist terror plots or attacks in South America have an origin or connection in Brazil. While the Federal Police, and other agencies, have done great work over the years in cooperating with the United States, there has also historically been a lack of political will in Brazil to tackle Islamist terrorism head-on,” Humire explained. “I am very optimistic that a Bolsonaro presidency in Brazil will not only deal with this issue but can provide regional leadership on anti-terrorism at a critical juncture when Iran, Hezbollah, and other terrorist elements are on the move in Latin America.”

The use of Brazilian territory to support groups like Hezbollah and regional Marxist organizations like the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), he adds, “I believe … will change under the leadership of President Bolsonaro, who has made it a point during his campaign to challenge the socialist/populist regimes in Latin America, namely Cuba, Bolivia, and Venezuela, who have destabilized so much of the region.”
Ample evidence, including documents revealed as part of the Panama Papers leak,
that Cuba has helped Venezuela provide a variety of Shiite terrorists with authentic Venezuelan legal documentation, including passports, to help them escape international police detection. Evidence compiled throughout years of research indicate that

that Bolivia has also aided Hezbollah’s establishment in the region.
Bolsonaro’s rise precedes a turbulent election in Bolivia, where leftist President Evo Morales is illegally seeking a third term. Bolivia’s Supreme Electoral Tribunal, under Morales’ control, ruled to allow him to appear on the 2019 ballot despite a ban on third terms, which passed via national referendum in 2016. Morales has relied heavily on support from Venezuela and Cuba to stay in power.
, from Cobija-Pando, a border state with Brazil, told Breitbart News via email from Bolivia that he hopes Bolsonaro’s win will make clear to the region’s Marxists that “the global left is a no-go” for the world’s peoples.
“I don’t see it being too hard for countries that are against socialist governments, in the not-too-distant future, to sit down and reach agreements so that once and for all we can eradicate this scourge that has hurt our people so much,” he noted. “Corruption in my country has gone to such an extreme that, should someone denounce it, they will go to jail.”
From the Brazilian border, he adds, “the expectations of the Brazilian people are very great;” on the Bolivian side, the timing is right, as Morales “is using methods similar to Venezuela’s” to stay in power.
Adding the expectations of the long-maligned Latin American right to the weight of fulfilling campaign promises to the Brazilian people has made Bolsonaro’s one of the most anticipated presidential tenures in the region’s history. As a politician, whether he achieves his goals will most likely depend on whether his people will hold him accountable – but what he has made clear is that his administration has a lot more than the future of Brazil riding on his shoulders.
The Fed and its Head – Jerome Powell – have increased rates so much since President Trump’s election that they have added $500 billion to the annual budget in interest payments alone. This annual payment is 100 times greater than the one time payment of $5 billion that President Trump is requesting for border security.
Who says the Fed is an independent agency and not biased? Just look at the Fed’s rate increases this century and this all falls apart. The Fed lowered interest rates to 0% for the Obama Administration and kept these rates at 0% for the first 7 of Obama’s year in office. Finally, the Fed increased the interest rates 0.25% in late 2015 for the only increase during Obama’s Presidency up to the 2016 election.
After President Trump won the November 2016 election, the Fed began a steady program of increasing interest rates. This program continues to this day and in total the Fed has increased rates 8 times since Trump won the Presidency. The rates now stand at 2.25% and as a result of these horrible and political policies, the Trump economy and Americans’ 401(k)’s are being diminished.
Unfortunately, if you cut engine power too far on a jetliner, it will stall and drop out of the sky.
On Wednesday, December 19, despite the numerous market-based alarms that were sounding in the cockpit, Chairman Powell and his co-pilots on the FOMC voted to raise the Fed Funds rate to 2.50%. This sucks more dollars out of the economy at a time when the world demanding more dollars – thanks to Trump’s Tax cutting and deregulation policies.
Chairman Powell has been entirely tone deaf to the financial markets he seeks to protect. The Dow Jones Industrial average, which had risen by 382 points on hopes that the Fed would listen to President Trump and stop cutting power, plunged by 895 points after the 2:00 PM announcement, and closed the day down 352 points (1.49%). Poof, trillions of dollars of wealth vanished.
Since its peak on October 3, which, not coincidentally, was right after Chairman Powell gave a speech suggesting that the Fed might be through tightening money, the Dow has fallen by more than 3,500 points [now 4,500]. Market fears about his bad judgment have cut the value of all U.S. stocks by about $4.5 trillion, which is enough to buy 16,000 Boeing 787 Dreamliners.
The Fed economists use twisted logic that the economy is “strong enough” to absorb the rate hikes – which is simply an admission that their policy will slow growth.
What’s not in the mainstream yet is how the Fed is adding billions to the annual US debt with their corrupt and crooked policy of raising rates on the Trump Administration.
The US debt now stands at $21.8 trillion. A 2.25% interest increase on this amount of debt is an annual increase in debt interest payments of $500 billion!!!
Fed Chief Powell and the Fed have added a half a trillion to the annual US debt payment through their reckless and crazy debt increases! To think President Trump has to shut down the government to get $5 billion for border security. The Fed could reduce rates 0.25% and easily pay for it.
Jerome Powell should be gone now! Working American families cannot and will not foot the bill for this maniac’s reckless interest rate policies. Americans’ life savings are dwindling and the amount of US debt is unnecessarily and dramatically increasing because of the Fed and its suicidal policies!!!

Various leftist grievance groups have insisted for years that they just want equal treatment and equal rights, that they only want to end discrimination and that they come with an attitude of "live and let live." Nope.
We’ve long known that the "tolerance" police don’t merely want equal rights and to be treated with civility. They require that you honor their ideas as superior, reject your own contrary ideas and do penance for ever having held your own ideas.
The Obama Administration not only pushed through the Iran deal in violation of federal law but also most likely tried to set up Israel and the Trump Campaign and Administration at the same time.

Administration officials told the public that engagement with Iran began in 2013. The Administration claimed that it was “tak[ing] advantage of a new political reality in Iran, which came about because of elections that brought moderates to power in that country.” As David Samuels reported in the New York Times Magazine, this story of nascent moderation in the Iranian government “was largely manufactured for the purpose for selling the deal.”
The Obama administration reportedly participated in many illegal activities to push the Iran deal, as noted by the Columbia Law Review, but one piece of information laid out was that –

Despite Barack Obama’s promise to curtail eavesdropping on allies in the wake of the Edward Snowden revelations about the scale and scope of US activities, the National Security Agency’s (NSA) surveillance included phone conversations between top Israeli officials, US congressmen and American-Jewish groups, according to the Wall Street Journal.

This year the Mainstream Media reported through “a source” that the Trump team hired an Israeli outfit to find dirt on the Obama Administration related to the Iran deal. The outfit by the name of Black Cube denied that the Trump team had anything to do with their work in this matter.
Also,Trump volunteer George Papadopoulos reported that he was handed $10,000 in 2017 in Israel and he now believes that this may have been a setup where the Deep State tried to implicate the Trump team, through him, to Israel in illegal activities. After being handed the money in Israel, when Papadopoulos landed in the US, he was held against his will before he passed through customs and all his belongings were searched for what he now believes was the $10,000. Fortunately for Papadopoulos, he left the money with an attorney in Europe.
We may never know how many people did Obama’s Deep State has illegally spied on or framed. The list must be astounding!
President Donald Trump tweeted out a photo of his new proposed border wall on Friday which shows a wall comprised solely of metal bars with spikes on top.
Trump’s tweet comes after he said earlier in the day: “I hope we don’t but we are totally prepared for a very long shutdown.”
“A design of our Steel Slat Barrier which is totally effective while at the same time beautiful!” Trump tweeted.
Since being sworn in more than a week ago, Wake County Sheriff Gerald Baker has followed through on his promise to end the county’s participation in the federal 287(g) program.
Wake County had been one of only six in North Carolina that partnered with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to transfer to federal custody people who have been arrested and are believed to be in the U.S. illegally.
Baker said he made the decision not to participate in the immigration program because he wants to see difference in the trust between law enforcement and Hispanic communities.
“At this point, the sheriff is not going to be honoring those requests of detaining individuals from ICE,” legal advisor Rick Brown said.
Just two weeks after Baker was sworn in, 16 people under ICE detainers have been released after either serving their standard time or posting bond.
An additional 79 people remain in custody on state charges, but the sheriff said he will not honor those ICE detainers either.
“Since that is a voluntary program, we withdrew from that. The detainers themselves, as we looked at those, are, again, requests. They are not court ordered. If they were court ordered, we’d have to abide by it,” Brown said.
ICE has gone on record responding to Baker’s stance, saying his decision will not decrease its presence in Wake County.
“In fact, residents should expect a more visible ICE presence in the Raleigh-Durham area, as ICE will now have no choice but to conduct more at-large arrests in local neighborhoods and at work sites,” ICE said in a statement.
Do you want to see a border wall? Were you willing to donate to the GoFundMe effort to build one? Well, apparently, you’re a meth addict.
I’m not quite sure of the logic either, but Jimmy Kimmel is. During his show Friday, the late-night host mocked the effort as akin to setting up a college fund for Harry Potter and painted those who were in favor of the program as drug addicts.
For those of you who aren’t familiar with the program, let me quickly summarize it for you. Brian Kolfage, a Purple Heart recipient who lost three limbs in the line of duty, has started a GoFundMe campaign to build the wall. The campaign has become a runaway success.
“Like a majority of those American citizens who voted to elect President Donald J Trump, we voted for him to Make America Great Again. President Trump’s main campaign promise was to BUILD THE WALL. And as he’s followed through on just about every promise so far, this wall project needs to be completed still,” Kolfage wrote on the page.
“As a veteran who has given so much, 3 limbs, I feel deeply invested to this nation to ensure future generations have everything we have today. Too many Americans have been murdered by illegal aliens and too many illegals are taking advantage of the United States taxpayers with no means of ever contributing to our society.”
“Democrats are going to stall this project by every means possible and play political games to ensure President Trump doesn’t get his victor. They’d rather see President Trump fail, than see America succeed. However, if we can fund a large portion of this wall, it will jumpstart things and will be less money Trump has to secure from our politicians,” he added.
“This won’t be easy, but it’s our duty as citizens. This needs to be shared every single day by each of you on social media. We can do it, and we can help President Trump make America safe again!”
As of now, the initiative has raised $14 million dollars. To be fair, it’s mostly about sending a message to politicians in Washington; the goal is $1 billion, which is profoundly unlikely to happen, and if it doesn’t reach that mark the money is returned. However, the runaway success of the campaign has proved there’s still a considerable contingent of Americans who want to see the wall built — and they managed to get some publicity in the process.
Should this dude be kicked off the air?
However, out in sunny Los Angeles, Mr. Kimmel found this whole thing uproarious. He began by describing the shutdown situation.
“Trump is leaving Washington, D.C. an absolute mess. He caused quite a thing today. He announced today he’s not going to sign a resolution to fund the government. This is a deal that was crafted by Republicans. They thought he was going to sign it,” Kimmel began.
“He surprised them and said, I’m not signing it unless I get the $5 billion I want for my border wall. If he doesn’t get that money, which he won’t, tomorrow night at midnight the government will shut down, which means hundreds of thousands of workers won’t get paid.”
“Basically, Trump is taking paychecks from federal employees at Christmas time to punish Congress for not paying for a wall he swore 500 times Mexico would be paying for. So Feliz Navidad, everyone. But here’s the twist. The twist is the president might not need Mexico or Congress to pay for the wall at all because there are some very dopey people ready to pay for it themselves.”
Those dopey people, he sneered, were led by “this Trump supporter” Kolfage.
“People, this is what people do with their disposable income when they don’t have loans from college to pay off,” Kimmel joked. (Because get it? They’re uneducated! Haha, the morons.)
“Donating money for a wall that will never exist. It’s like starting a college fund for Harry Potter. It’s a — it’s a waste. A more useful thing to do with your money would be to go outside and feed it to a bird but you do have to admire the sacrifice they’re making. I mean, a lot of these people are dipping into their meth money for this.”
So, a group of uneducated meth addicts led by some dope who gave three limbs for his country are wasting money on trying to build the wall — except they aren’t, since if they don’t meet the target (and they almost certainly won’t) the money is returned.
For all of that, they managed to buy free attention, including getting Jimmy Kimmel to reveal what he really thinks about people who don’t agree with him. At the very least, we can give Kolfage and his supporters credit for revealing who the “dopey people” really are.

It’s a poorly kept secret that President Donald Trump and Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg are not very big fans of each other.
In virtually every respect, Trump and Ginsburg are polar opposites. Ideologically, politically and temperamentally, the two could not be more different.
But even given all of that, both are still humans.
Regardless of how you feel about either, wishing bodily harm or ill will toward them is appalling. Sadly, that has become common in 2018 as decorum has been thrown out the window.
But unlike leftists who have no problem wishing for Trump to die a slow and excruciating death while simultaneously accusing him of inciting violence, the president has been able to rise above such venomous rhetoric.
Not that you’d ever hear the liberal media give him that kind of credit.
Case in point: Ginsburg this week underwent surgery to remove a pair of growths from her left lung.
It’s every leftists’ worst nightmare, as Ginsburg’s death or retirement for health reasons would allow Trump to fill a third Supreme Court vacancy.
The president could’ve easily trolled leftists after the news about Ginsburg’s surgery broke, considering the contentious nature of the relationship Trump has with Ginsburg and her most ardent supporters.
But Trump took the high road — and the media largely remained silent about it.

But notice the distinct lack of coverage about Trump showing compassion and decorum? Could it be because it doesn’t fit the leftist narrative that Trump is an uncouth monster?
CNN spent far more time claiming Trump has “learned nothing from the midterms” and reporting on his supposedly volatile relationship with his new acting attorney general. Nary a word about the president showing compassion to a political foe.
MSNBC wanted to make sure you know that this is the third time the government has shut down under Trump, but didn’t care if you know that he did something humane.
This may not be the “fake news” that Trump is always railing about, but it is certainly slanted and biased coverage of the president. Even when he does something good, Trump simply can’t win with these guys.

Oh, good grief. The liberal media and unhinged Democrats are blaming Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter for the current shutdown.
Democrats thought they would run out the clock on Trump without funding border security before Democrats took control of the House in 2018. They almost made it happen. Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell had NO INTENTION of signing off on ANY border security funding. But then Ann Coulter wrote a pointed column and attacked the president on radio. Rush Limbaugh told him to veto the spending bill and take off to Mar-a-lago for Christmas and golf. And wounded veteran Brian Kolfage started a GoFundMe page to help pay for the wall.
And then President Trump acted and promised a veto if no border wall funding was included in the Republican spending bill.
CNN is already blaming author Ann Coulter for the shutdown.
CNN hack Jeffrey Tobin said this about Ann Coulter, “Apparently, she’s president now.”
