With Trump Now in the Clear, Rand Paul Wants Answers from Comey, Brennan, Lynch, Strzok and Ohr

Sen. Rand Paul wants answers from scads of the figures involved in the Russian collusion investigation.

In remarks on the Senate floor Thursday, the Kentucky Republican said he wanted to know whether former President Barack Obama’s administration was involved in the investigation of the Trump campaign — and introduced a plan that would look into many of the key figures in that probe.

“Today, U.S. Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) spoke on the U.S. Senate floor to offer an amendment to the House-passed resolution on releasing the Mueller Report that demands more information on the origins of the Obama Administration’s decisions concerning the investigation of Donald Trump and his campaign, particularly the use of the unverified and patently false Steele dossier,” Paul’s office said in a statement.

“What we need to discover, and we do not yet know, was President Obama involved? Was this done for partisan purposes? Was this done to try to elect Hillary Clinton?” Paul said during his remarks from the floor.

In his remarks, Paul became the latest Republican lawmaker to insist that the focus of the investigation shift.

“What do we know so far? We know that we spent $30 million to investigate this, and they have decided and included — after doing hundreds of interviews and thousands of subpoenas — they have concluded that President Trump did not collude with the Russians, did not conspire with the Russians, did not commit a crime with the Russians and, as the president has said repeatedly, he never talked to the Russians,” Paul said.

“Now that we know that, in addition to the Mueller report, we also need to know was there malfeasance?” he continued. “Was there misuse of government power? Did President Obama’s administration get involved in an election to actually try and manipulate and infiltrate the Trump campaign to entrap them or try to spread information that was incorrect?

“We need to know that.”

Paul was speaking in support of his amendment to H. Con. Res. 24, which calls for a number of investigations.

The amendment, according to Paul’s press release, asks “for the public release of all information and communications involving James Comey, John Brennan, James Clapper, Susan Rice, Barack Obama, Andrew McCabe, Peter Strzok, Lisa Page, Loretta Lynch, Bruce Ohr, or anyone else in the Obama Administration concerning the Steele dossier or investigating Donald Trump and his campaign.”

It also calls for former CIA Director Brennan, “who allowed the Central Intelligence Agency to spy on computers of the Select Committee on Intelligence of the Senate, to testify under oath and provide to Congress all his records and communications regarding the 2016 election.”

The resolution notes that Clapper, Obama’s director of national intelligence, “lied to the Select Committee on Intelligence of the Senate about a secret surveillance program that was gathering all phone data of people in the United States” and calls on him “to testify under oath and provide to Congress all his records and communications regarding the 2016 election.”

Paul’s resolution also seeks the public release of all of Obama’s communications on the matter, as well as all documents related to former Secretary of State Clinton’s private email server or the Clinton Foundation.

So, what could this retinue be nailed on? Well, for starters, the provenance of the Steele dossier, which was used to obtain a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act warrant. And then there’s also the possibility that improper surveillance was going on; according to Paul, the individuals who might be most exposed to trouble are Brennan, Clapper and former FBI Director Comey.

In an interview with “Fox & Friends” on Thursday, Paul spoke of a source who told him of spying on the Trump campaign by Obama’s Department of Justice.

“Well, my source tells me that the intelligence community, Obama’s intelligence community, Brennan, Clapper, Comey, they were frustrated because they had this Russian dossier but nobody believed it was real,” Paul said.

“It wasn’t verifiable, they couldn’t get anything out of it,” Paul said. “So they sent spies into the Trump campaign, they tried to entrap Trump officials to admit they were working with Russia. That wasn’t working, so they were frustrated. …

“But they wanted to somehow get this information out — this Russian dossier … So finally they decided … what we have to do is attach this dossier, this fake dossier, to an intelligence report” that was given to Obama.

Paul isn’t the only Republican to come out for an investigation of the Obama administration’s actions involving both the Trump campaign and the Steele dossier. Earlier in the week, Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina called for a special counsel to be appointed to look into it.

“When it comes to the FISA warrant, the Clinton campaign, the counterintelligence investigation, it’s pretty much been swept under the rug,” Graham said. “Those days are over.”

One hopes more Republicans will go on the offensive to ensure that they are.

FBI Forced To Turn Over Totally Unredacted Comey Memos as Calls To Release Them Grow

It’s been a busy news week, so one would be forgiven if they missed this story that was shunted to the sidebar of news websites around the internet: “The FBI was ordered to let a judge review copies of former director James Comey’s memos about his interactions with President Donald Trump before he was fired to determine whether to release them, as media organizations seek to make the documents public,” Bloomberg reported.

“U.S. District Judge James Boasberg in Washington on Thursday ordered the Federal Bureau of Investigation to submit both clean and redacted versions of the documents by April 1 as part of a Freedom of Information Act case brought by CNN and other organizations, including USA Today and the conservative activist group Judicial Watch Inc.”

That’s a pretty wide-ranging group of plaintiffs. When you have CNN and Judicial Watch standing together, that’ll grab your attention right quick. After all, Judicial Watch is currently suing to get records of communication between CNN and former Obama intelligence chiefs.

“Much from the memos has been released publicly, but some parts remain redacted. The Justice Department has said these redactions obscure information about intelligence gathering regarding foreign relations — and some parts could reveal whether foreign surveillance was used to gather information about former national security adviser Michael Flynn,” CNN reported.

“As recently as early this month, the Justice Department argued that release of other information in the Comey memos could hurt the then-ongoing Mueller investigation.”

In the suit, CNN claimed both the president and the former FBI director had accused each other “of grave breaches of the public trust” and that the memos contain “contemporaneous records of disputed conversations.”

Judge Boasberg has said he would review the unredacted documents and decide whether or not they could be released to the public. He did not, however, specify when he would decide if they would be released.

The order came on the same day as Sen. Rand Paul called for the release of Comey’s communications regarding the Russia investigation from the floor of the Senate.

The Kentucky Republican introduced an amendment to a House resolution that “calls for the public release of all information and communications involving James Comey, John Brennan, James Clapper, Susan Rice, Barack Obama, Andrew McCabe, Peter Strzok, Lisa Page, Loretta Lynch, Bruce Ohr or anyone else in the Obama Administration concerning the Steele dossier or investigating Donald Trump and his campaign,” according to a press release from Paul’s office.

“What do we know so far? We know that we spent $30 million to investigate this, and they have decided and included — after doing hundreds of interviews and thousands of subpoenas — they have concluded that President Trump did not collude with the Russians, did not conspire with the Russians, did not commit a crime with the Russians and, as the president has said repeatedly, he never talked to the Russians,” Paul said in a speech on the Senate floor.

“Now that we know that, in addition to the Mueller report, we also need to know was there malfeasance? Was there misuse of government power? Did President Obama’s administration get involved in an election to actually try and manipulate and infiltrate the Trump campaign to entrap them or try to spread information that was incorrect?” he continued.

“We need to know that.”

Yes, we do.

Now that the farce of Russian collusion is over, we need to know what the functionaries of the Obama administration did in the run-up to the 2016 election in regard to the Trump campaign. Furthermore, Comey’s conduct while in the office of FBI director — a position that’s supposed to be nonpartisan — is crucial inasmuch as his firing was the impetus for the special counsel.

At the very least, the Obama administration’s actions look sketchy. Yet, they’ve never been put under scrutiny because we’ve been so busy talking about Russian collusion. Any discussion about the malodorous FISA warrant on Carter Page, which was obtained with a dossier that was opposition research paid for by the Clinton campaign and DNC, was always pushed to the back-burner.

There’s no more Russian collusion to discuss, however, and now that our two-year national wild goose chase has ended, it’s high time to look at the individuals who sent us on that chase.

Do you think James Comey’s unredacted memos should be released?

Comey has been particularly open in his contempt for President Trump; while one might expect that behavior from someone who was fired by the nation’s chief executive, questions remain about Comey’s politicization of the office and how involved he was in the investigation of the Trump campaign.

Both his unredacted memos regarding his communications with President Trump and his communications on the Russia investigation would be key in determining just how swampy Comey’s conduct was and what role it played in the wider swamp ecosystem. It’s something America deserved to know a long time ago — not just with Comey but with figures such as James Clapper, John Brennan, Peter Strzok and Bruce Ohr.

One hopes this judge agrees. He can play a part — a small one, but a part nonetheless — in revealing the larger picture of how the intelligence community dealt with Trump’s campaign and what happened when he became president.

As for Republicans, it’s time for them to go on the offensive about the intelligence community and the Trump campaign. This is the one opportunity to parry the Democrats’ three-year thrust of a witch-hunt. It’s time the depth of that witch-hunt was exposed.

GOP Finally Getting Bold After Collusion Report, Calling Out Attempted Coup by Deep State

GOP Finally Getting Bold After Collusion Report, Calling Out Attempted Coup by Deep State

Republicans are finally going on the offensive after special counsel Robert Mueller found no evidence for the conspiracy theory that President Donald Trump colluded with Russia to influence the 2016 election.

From the moment Trump took office, Democrats wouldn’t accept defeat — they began using phrases like “not my president” and questioned the legitimacy of Trump’s victory.

Democrats were hell-bent on dividing the country with claims that the president or his campaign sought foreign intervention in the election.

Ultimately, Trump, who had insisted from the start that the investigation was a “witch hunt,” was vindicated.

Still, the Democrats’ collusion conspiracy was devastating for the country, and it’s time for Republicans to hold them accountable.

Thankfully, many are doing so.

For example, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders tweeted a list of media hacks and government officials who helped peddle the Russian conspiracy theory.

As another example, Trump’s campaign sent a warning memo to media producers about six former or current government officials who stoked the flames of the witch hunt.

Now former House Speaker Newt Gingrich has joined the fray, perfectly characterizing the years-long collusion probe as a coup d’etat attempt by Trump opponents inside the government.

“This is the first deliberate attempt of a coup d’etat by the deep state we’ve ever seen. It was clearly an attack on the American Constitution on our entire process of governance,” Gingrich said Thursday on Fox News.

Gingrich’s characterization is spot on.

The released text messages between former FBI agent Peter Strzok and former FBI lawyer Lisa Page show how rapidly anti-Trump some of those in the intelligence apparatus are.

The goal of the Russian collusion conspiracy is clear: Trump’s impeachment and removal from office. It was a blatant coup attempt.

And as Gingrich points out, former CIA Director John Brennan, who personifies the deep state, is one of the main proponents of the conspiracy.

“You had the head of a CIA who I think was undermining the United States and undermining the constitution,” Gingrich said.

Gingrich also targeted House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, D-Calif., who is continuing to peddle the conspiracy theory despite the outcome of Mueller’s report.

“Frankly, (Trump) and his advisers ought to consider sending a letter to (House Speaker Nancy) Pelosi saying that as long as Schiff is on the Intelligence Committee, there will be no cooperation from the executive branch because they have chosen a person who is so profoundly dishonest,” he said.

Once again, Gingrich is right. The chairman of the Intelligence Committee shouldn’t be someone who dedicated so much time toward pushing misinformation.

Schiff and other outspoken supporters of the Russian collusion story should never be taken seriously again.

It’s time to hold Democrats accountable for attempting a coup d’etat against the president of the United States.

Breaking: Illinois Prosecutor’s Association Condemns State’s Attorney Kim Foxx: Her Actions “Undermine the Very Foundation of our Public Court System”

The Chicago Police sent actor Jussie Smollett a bill for $130,000 on Wednesday demanding payment for his false statements.

The police letter to Jussie Smollett said, “The Chicago Police Department take seriously those who make false statements to the police, thereby diverting resources from other investigations.”

The Chicago police told Smollett to send them the payment in a timely manner.

Smollett was let off this week by the corrupt State’s Attorney’s office after his vicious stunt to smear Trump supporters as homophobic, racists.  He allegedly employed two Nigerian brothers to play the parts of the homophobic white men.

On Friday an Illinois prosecutors group condemned Kim Foxx and listed her many dishonest and questionable actions this week.

The Illinois Prosecutor’s Bar Association released a letter on Friday condemning State’s Attorney Kim Foxx for her highly irregular and dishonest maneuver to dismiss all charges against hate hoaxer Jussie Smollett.

The Illinois Prosecutors Bar Association serves as the voice for nearly 1,000 front line prosecutors across the State who work tirelessly towards the pursuit of justice. The events of the past few days regarding the Cook County State’s Attorney’s handling of the Jussie Smollett case is not condoned by the IPBA, nor is it representative of the honest ethical work prosecutors provide to the citizens of the State of Illinois on a daily basis.

The manner in which this case was dismissed was abnormal and unfamiliar to those who practice law in criminal courthouses across the State. Prosecutors, defense attorneys, and judges alike do not recognize the arrangement Mr. Smollett received. Even more problematic, the State’s Attorney and her representatives have fundamentally misled the public on the law and circumstances surrounding the dismissal.

The public has the right to know the truth, and we set out to do that here.

When an elected State’s Attorney recuses herself from a prosecution, Illinois law provides that the court shall appoint a special prosecutor. See 55 ILCS 5/3-9008(a-15). Typically, the special prosecutor is a neighboring State’s Attorney, the Attorney General, or the State Appellate Prosecutor. Here, the State’s Attorney kept the case within her office and thus never actually recused herself as a matter of law.

Additionally, the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office falsely informed the public that the uncontested sealing of the criminal court case was “mandatory” under Illinois law. This statement is not accurate. To the extent the case was even eligible for an immediate seal, that action was discretionary, not mandatory, and only upon the proper filing of a petition to seal. See 20 ILCS 2630/5.2(g)(2). For seals not subject to Section 5.2(g)(2), the process employed in this case by the State’s Attorney effectively denied law enforcement agencies of legally required Notice (See 20 ILCS 2630/5.2(d)(4)) and the legal opportunity to object to the sealing of the file (See 20 ILCS 2630/5.2(d)(5)). The State’s Attorney not only declined to fight the sealing of this case in court, but then provided false information to the public regarding it.

The appearance of impropriety here is compounded by the fact that this case was not on the regularly scheduled court call, the public had no reasonable notice or opportunity to view these proceedings, and the dismissal was done abruptly at what has been called an “emergency” hearing. To date, the nature of the purported emergency has not been publicly disclosed. The sealing of a court case immediately following a hearing where there was no reasonable notice or opportunity for the public to attend is a matter of grave public concern and undermines the very foundation of our public court system.

Brilliant! Rand Paul Blocks Resolution for the Release of Mueller Report Until Communications Also Released of Crooked Obama Officials

Senator Rand Paul blocked a resolution by Senate Democrats for the release of the Mueller Report. Paul also wants communications released of Crooked Obama officails who spied on candidate Trump including: John Brennan, Peter Strzok, Loretta Lynch and Bruce Ohr.

Watch Democrats fold in about two seconds.

The Hill reported:

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) blocked a resolution calling for special counsel Robert Mueller’s report to be made public, arguing that Congress should also call for the release of communications and testimony from Obama-era officials.

Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), who is one of several Democratic senators running for president, tried to get unanimous consent for the Senate to pass the resolution, which cleared the House in a 420-0 vote earlier this month.

“We still have not seen the report. I have urged the Department of Justice to release the report, and the administration should not delay in producing the report to Congress,” Klobuchar said.

But Paul objected because Klobuchar wouldn’t agree to amend the nonbinding resolution to include provisions calling for the public release of communications between several Obama-era officials including former President Obama, former FBI Director James Comey and former CIA Director John Brennan.

“We need to know was there malfeasance, was there misuse of power, did President Obama’s administration get involved in an election to infiltrate the Trump campaign to trap them? … We need to know that,” he said. “What we need to discover and we do not yet know: Was President Obama involved?”
