The president spoke after a right-wing extremist was revealed as the alleged perpetrator behind the shooting in Texas that killed 20 and a left-wing extremist killed 10 in Ohio.
Trump responded to the news featuring dozens of 2020 Democrats blaming the shootings on the president, accusing him of stoking white nationalism, hatred, and violence in the country.
Sen. Elizabeth Warren blamed the attacks in Texas on Fox News.
“We need to call it out: Fox News is a hate-for-profit machine that gives a megaphone to racists and conspiracists,” she wrote on Twitter.

But Trump pointed back to the establishment media.

On Saturday the El Paso mass murderer posted a “manifesto” on 8Chan and then went off and murdered 20 at a Walmart.
On Monday Cloudflare Blog terminated service with 8Chan.
Cloudflare also blamed the website for “inspiring” the mass murderer.

Chicago’s Mount Sinai Hospital temporarily stopped accepting patients Sunday morning because they were at capacity following a series of shootings, a hospital official said.
CHICAGO (CBS) — Dozens of people were shot in Chicago over the weekend, including two mass shootings in less than three hours on Sunday. In all, seven people were killed and 46 others were wounded in shootings since Friday evening.
More than a dozen people were wounded, one of them fatally, in a pair of mass shootings in the Lawndale neighborhood early Sunday.
It was a routine report, meaning, it happens so often that every weekend has large numbers of shooting victims. It’s like an El Paso event of its own, weekend after weekend, after weekend, and its totals certainly top those of El Paso when taken in sum.
Yet it doesn’t get the wall-to-wall press coverage this freak from Dallas, and his copycat savage in Dayton get. It’s just blue-city business as usual, another weekend, another slew of killings, and another hospital that is booked solid from gunshot victims, can’t take any more, try the next hospital.
That’s sorry stuff. Wonder why the Democrats whipping up the El Paso outrage for political gain don’t like to mention it?

The hospital went “on bypass” in the early morning, said Roberta Rakove, Senior VP for External Affairs.
Hospitals use the term “on bypass” when they stop accepting ambulance runs and those ambulances are diverted to other trauma centers. Mount Sinai Hospital is one of five trauma centers in Chicago, according to Rakove.
At its height early Sunday morning, Mount Sinai had 12 trauma patients, Rakove said. She could not provide information on their conditions.

Was anybody surprised when the Department of Justice announced they were not going to prosecute James Comey for leaking confidential documents? What was the underlying excuse for not prosecuting Comey? According to the Washington Examiner, “Justice Department prosecutors declined to go after Comey because of a lack of evidence Comey ‘intentionally’ violated the law….”
That “intent” thing sure sounds familiar. Hillary broke the law and Comey refused to prosecute her because she didn’t intend to break the law. This time Comey broke the law and Justice Department lawyers are refusing to prosecute him because he didn’t intend to break the law. Translation: Comey can’t be prosecuted because he’s above the law. Funny thing though, intent is not a consideration when prosecuting people outside of the swamp. None of Mueller’s victims got off on intent.

Unlike the United States, which allows its currency to float upward or downward based on market forces, the Chinese government extensively intervenes in the currency market to move the yuan in directions favored by its leaders. During the weekend, the government allowed it to fall to its lowest level in a decade. Currency depreciation makes Chinese exports cheaper abroad so it can undermine the effects of tariffs.
China’s depreciation follows President Trump’s announcement on Thursday that the U.S. would impose a ten percent tariff on the $300 billion or so of Chinese goods exported to the U.S. that are not subject to the 25 percent tariff.
In a statement, the People’s Bank of China, China’s version of the Fed, denied intentionally depressing the currency. It said China will “not engage in competitive devaluation, and not use the exchange rate for competitive purposes and not use the exchange rate as a tool to deal with external disturbances such as trade disputes.”

President Trump addresses nation on mass shootings crisis in speech at the White House, August 5, 2019, screen image via C-SPAN.
President Trump on Monday addressed the mass shootings occurred over the weekend, laying out several avenues Democrats and Republicans can take to make America safer but stopping short of calling for the ban of assault-style weapons.
Trump called for “bipartisan solutions” as he set out four avenues of action: Identifying potential mass shooters before they strike; curtailing violent video games that “celebrate violence”; reforming mental health laws; and strictly limiting firearms to troubled people under “red flag laws.”
“The shooter in El Paso posted a manifesto online consumed with racist hate,” Trump said during in a speech from the Diplomatic Room of the White House. “In one voice, our nation must condemn bigotry, hatred and white supremacy,” he said. “These sinister ideologies must be defeated.”
In remarks aimed at stating how his White House will respond to the shootings, Trump said: “We vow to act with urgent resolve.”
“We can and will stop this evil contagion,” he added.
Over the weekend, 30 people were killed and another 53 injured in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio, in two horrific mass shootings. In El Paso, a 21-year-old gunman opened fire on Saturday morning in a Walmart crowded shoppers, killing 20 and wounding 26 others. In Dayton, a 24-year-old man wearing body armor fired at people in on the streets about 1 a.m. Sunday, killing nine and wounding 27 in less than a minute.
Trump on Monday urged social media companies “to develop tools to identify mass shooters before they strike.”
“The perils of the internet and social media cannot be ignored, and will not be ignored,” he said.
Trump also took at video games, saying they are part of a “culture that glorifies violence. And targeted mental health. “Mental illness and hatred pull the trigger ― not the gun,” he said.
The president said he supports “red flag laws” that allow law enforcement authorities to take away guns from those deemed dangerous. And he directed the Justice Department to propose legislation that would deliver the death penalty to mass shooters, saying this “capital punishment be delivered quickly, decisively, and without years of needless delay.”

While the mainstream media has justifiably reported voluminously about the mass shootings in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio, over the weekend, they have glaringly omitted the usual kind of news in Chicago, where another bloody weekend saw seven people murdered and roughly 60 more people wounded by gun violence.
