Trump Recounts Heroic Story From Battle Of The Bulge In WWII During Veteran’s Day Tribute

President Donald Trump recounted a heroic event from the Battle of the Bulge during World War II where a group of over 1,000 captured American soldiers all identified as being Jewish when they were captured by the Nazis which prevented the Nazis from singling out and killing the actual Jewish soldiers in the group.

“In a few weeks, we will mark the 75th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge — our nation’s bloodiest battle of World War Two. More than 47,000 Americans were wounded, and 19,000 gave their last breath for their country,” Trump said during the New York City Veterans Day Parade on Monday.

“Here with us today is Lauren Mathews, the granddaughter of a Battle of the Bulge veteran who has since passed away,” Trump said. “His name was Master Sergeant Roddie Edmonds. Like so many of our veterans, Roddie never talked about the war. Lauren never knew her grandfather’s story until she embarked upon a school project about 10 years ago.”

“Roddie was in the 422nd regiment, which was overwhelmed when the Nazis launched their surprise assault,” Trump continued. “He and his men fought for three treacherous days before being taken as prisoners of war.”

“After they arrived at a prison camp, the German commander sent an order over the loud speaker. The Jewish-American soldiers were all told to step out of line during the roll call the next day,” Trump continued. “Knowing the terrible fate that would come to his Jewish comrades, Roddie immediately said, “We’re not doing that.” He sent orders to have every American step out of line with their Jewish brothers-in-arms.”

“The next morning, 1,292 Americans stepped forward,” Trump continued. “The German commander stormed over to Roddie and said, ‘They cannot all be Jews.’ Roddie stared right back; he said, ‘We are all Jews here.’”

“At that point, the German put a gun to Roddie’s head and demanded, ‘You will order the Jews to step forward immediately or I will shoot you right now through the head,’” Trump continued. “Roddie responded, ‘Major, you can shoot me, but you’ll have to kill us all.’ That’s something. The German turned red, got very angry, but put down his gun, and walked away.”

Trump added, “Master Sergeant Edmonds saved 200 Jewish-Americans — soldiers that day. So proud to be Jewish and so proud of our country. Lauren, thank you for being here today as we remember your grandfather’s unbelievable and exceptional valor. Lauren, please stand up. Thank you very much. ”

“One of the 200 Jewish-American soldiers who was saved that fateful day is Staff Sergeant Lester Tanner. Lester is now 96 years old — (applause) — and he joins us here. Boy, you guys are looking very good,” Trump concluded. “Ninety-six. Lester — you’re really 96, Lester? I don’t believe it. You’re looking good. Thank you very much. Thank you also for your very noble service and for sharing this incredible story with the world. Thank you very much, Lester.”

The Battle of the Bulge was the last military offensive launched by Nazi Germany during WWII on the Western Front. The Nazi’s goal in the 6-week military operation was to split Allied forces.

“As the Germans drove into the Ardennes, the Allied line took on the appearance of a large bulge, giving rise to the battle’s name,” History reported. “The battle proved to be the costliest ever fought by the U.S. Army, which suffered over 100,000 casualties.”

Canceled: Legendary hockey announcer fired for telling immigrants to … buy a poppy to honor fallen Canadian soldiers

I do mean “legendary.” Even I’ve heard of Don Cherry, and I only watch the sport when Team USA’s playing an elimination game at the Winter Olympics.

He’s 85 years old, an institution of hockey broadcasting, and known for being “colorful.” (Literally.) You would think he’d need to go waaaaay]]>

Trump Tweets GOP’s List Of Impeachment Witnesses; Dems Tell GOP ‘Get Lost’; Media Fact-Checks

Over the weekend, Republicans released their list of witnesses they want to testify in the Democrat-led impeachment hearings, and many Democrats are clearly unhappy about it, decrying the witness list as an attempt to supposedly promote pro-Trump conspiracy theories. While one particularly incensed Democrat told the Republicans to “GET LOST” in response to the “sham” list, President Trump appears to have given his official endorsement of the people GOP congressional committee members would like to get a chance to ask some tough questions related to Ukraine.

On Monday, Trump retweeted the list posted by House Oversight Committee Ranking Member Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH):

  • The whistleblower and all of the whistleblower’s alleged sources
  • Hunter Biden, Joe Biden’s son who was hired by Ukraine-based energy company Burisma Holdings shortly after his father was appointed as head of U.S.-Ukraine relations
  • Devon Archer, Hunter Biden’s former long-time business partner who also served on the board of Burisma
  • Alexandra Chalupa, a “Ukrainian-American consultant for the Democratic National Committee who allegedly had meetings with officials at the Ukrainian Embassy in Washington, D.C. to discuss incriminating information about Trump campaign officials during the 2016 presidential election,” as Fox News explains. (Chalupa’s alleged role in trying to dig up dirt on Trump was first reported by Politico in 2017.)
  • Nellie Ohr, who testified in front of Congress in 2018 that Fusion GPS compiled the salacious anti-Trump Steele dossier in part from information from Ukrainian sources
  • Kurt Volker, a former envoy to Ukraine
  • Tim Morrison, a former National Security Council official

As first reported by Fox News, Intelligence Committee Ranking Member Devin Nunes (R-CA) accused House Intelligence Committee Chair Adam Schiff (D-CA), who’s heading up the Democrats’ impeachment efforts, in a letter Saturday of overseeing a “sham impeachment process” and explained the rationale for the witnesses included in the Republicans’ list.

“Americans see through this sham impeachment process, despite the Democrats’ efforts to retroactively legitimize it last week,” wrote Nunes. “To provide transparency to your otherwise opaque and unfair process, and after consultation with [House Oversight Committee] Ranking Member Jim Jordan and [House Foreign Affairs Committee] Ranking Member Michael McCaul, the American people deserve to hear from the following witnesses in an open setting.”

“Because the Democrats’ resolution unfairly restricts Minority rights and because you have provided no information about which witnesses you may invite to testify at future hearings not yet scheduled, we reserve our right to request additional witnesses, if necessary, as you announce additional hearings,” Nunes wrote. “Your failure to fulfill Minority witness requests shall constitute evidence of your denial of fundamental fairness and due process.”

Nunes preemptively defended the choices of the witnesses, including Chalupa, who he said is included because of Trump’s “documented belief that the Ukrainian government meddled in the 2016 election to oppose his candidacy, which forms the basis for a reasonable desire for Ukraine to investigate the circumstances surrounding the election and any potential Ukrainian involvement.” Chalupa, he wrote, “is a prime fact witness who can assist Congress and the American public in better understanding the facts and circumstances surrounding Ukrainian involvement in the 2016 election.”

Ohr’s work with Fusion GPS, which included “assist[ing] in the production of the Steele Dossier,” in part allegedly using Ukrainian sources, also makes her a key witness.

As for the whistleblower, Republicans have been increasingly demanding a public testimony so Trump can “face his accuser.”

Democrats appear to have been unimpressed by the list, House Democratic Caucus Chair Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) tweeting in response to the “sham” list: “My two cents? GET LOST.”

Media outlets have since been working to “fact-check” the list. While Fox News took the list of witnesses seriously, explaining the roles the potential witnesses have played in Ukraine-related developments, others, like MSNBC and The New York Times predictably approached it with a skepticism mirroring the Democrats.

Along with retweeting the Republicans’ witness list, Trump has been applying even more pressure for the anonymous whistleblower to come forward.

“The lawyer for the Whistleblower takes away all credibility from this big Impeachment Scam! It should be ended and the Whistleblower, his lawyer and Corrupt politician Schiff should be investigated for fraud!” Trump tweeted Monday.

“Shifty Adam Schiff will only release doctored transcripts. We haven’t even seen the documents and are restricted from (get this) having a lawyer. Republicans should put out their own transcripts! Schiff must testify as to why he MADE UP a statement from me, and read it to all!” he wrote in another, adding later: “Where is the Whistleblower who gave so much false information? Must testify along with Schiff and others!”

Donald Trump Has Fired, Demoted, or Suspended over 8,000 Veterans Affairs Employees Since Taking Office

President Donald Trump has relieved over 8,000 Veterans Affairs employees for failing their duty since becoming the president, according to VA Secretary Robert Wilkie.

“The standard is if you don’t live up to your oath if you don’t live up to the standards that our veterans expect, that you will be asked to leave,” Wilkie told reporters in a press conference on Friday. “This is a transformational moment in our history.”

Wilkie said accountability was a signature promise from President Trump, particularly after the Veterans Affairs scandals in Phoenix in 2014 and 2015.

Under Trump, he said, VA employees as high as network directors down to the lowest employees were removed for not performing their job to the proper standards.

“This is, I think, one of the strongest statements that we can make: That it is a new day at VA,” Wilkie said.

Trump spoke about the importance of Veterans Affairs accountability in October, during a speech on health care at The Villages in Florida.

“Do you remember all of the bad stories that used to be about the VA?” he asked. “Now you don’t see that because they have accountability.  We can fire bad people. We fired a tremendous number of really bad people that should’ve been fired years ago. I don’t like firing people, but I like firing people that don’t treat our vets great, that aren’t doing their job.”

Wilkie praised Trump for delivering the largest budget for the VA Department in its history and noted that the department in 2018 achieved the highest patient satisfaction rates in its history at 89.7 percent.

He also touted the success of the MISSION Act, allowing veterans the ability to have the choice to seek care in the private sector when Veterans Affairs could not give them the care that they needed.

“This puts veterans at the center of their healthcare decisions, not the institutional prerogatives of VA, but veterans,” he said.

Wilkie detailed a forthcoming national roadmap for understanding and preventing suicides and addiction, and mental health, bringing together the federal government including the Departments of Indian Health, Health and Human Services, Housing and Urban Development, Department of the Defense.

He said 60 percent of veterans who committed suicide were not in Veterans Affairs care and that the roadmap would help the department was working with local organizations to find military veterans suffering from depression.

President Trump fired Veterans Affairs Secretary David Shulkin in 2018 and replaced him with Wilkie, who was recommended to the Department by then-Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis.

Wilkie said it was an “honor” to serve in President Trump’s administration, praising him for putting veterans’ care at the top of his priority list.

“There has never been a President who has given this much attention to America’s veterans or allowed for more transformation to go on in the lives of veterans in this department than this President has,” he said.

YouTube and Facebook are erasing content with whistleblower’s name

The day has finally arrived when our online media monopolies are blatantly censoring the news that Americans can see. Chrissy Clark writes at The Federalist:

Facebook and YouTube are removing all content from their platforms that mentions the anti-Trump whistleblower’s name, whom news outlets including RealClearInvestigations have publicly identified as CIA analyst Eric Ciaramella. No law bans media outlets or any person but the intelligence community inspector general from making the whistleblower’s name public.

A Facebook spokesperson said the platform will remove “any and all mention of the potential whistleblower’s name.

Ciaramella is being made into a non-person, because House Democrats are dead set against calling him to testify in the impeachment inquiry that they are putting on staring Wednesday. They don’t want the public to know that he was an associate of John Brennan, evidently a central figure in the manufacturing of the Russia hoax, that he worked for VP Biden, and that he is a registered Democrat.

History has seen similar efforts to pretend in the media that persons inconvenient to the powerful don’t exist. When Stalin purged people he feared might become rivals, he had them airbrushed out of photos standing next to him.

Stalin had absolute control over the media in the USSR.  But YouTube and Facebook dominate online videos and social media to an astounding degree in a “free market”economy. The two platforms dwarf rivals, as this chart showing their reach (the percentage of people in the United States who watch videos on them) demonstrates:

(source)

Chrissy Clark points out that the censorship is obviously political in nature:

The irony of this censorship debacle is that protecting so-called whistleblowers only seems to apply to those who help the mainstream media and Democratic agenda. This week, when ABC News was dealing with a whistleblower, her name was not forbidden on mainstream platforms like YouTube or Facebook. In fact, her name was released on YouTube, despite her claims that she is not the whistleblower who released audio showing how ABC suppressed reporting into alleged child rapist Jeffrey Epstein.

Not only are Facebook and YouTube’s standards a form of censorship, they are an example of partisanship on the largest social media platforms in the world.

YouTube is owned by Alphabet, the parent company of Google. If and when Google erases Ciamarelli’s name from possible search terms, the censorship effort will reach an  unprecedented (and frightening) height. With Fox News and the other television networks and major newspapers cooperating in the effort to erase Ciamarelli’s name, the only way that Americans will learn about the coup plotters is when they are subpoenaed and forced to testify under oath – before a Senate committee, or perhaps a grand jury and trial jury. If that ever happens….
