What the University of Alabama’s football stadiums tells us about Trump’s popularity

Elsewhere on these pages today, John Eidson uses the University of Alabama’s Bryant-Denny Stadium as a heuristic device for understanding the atmospheric concentration of CO2, but that temple to football tells us something else, too: regional political differences are at the highest level since the end of the Civil War.

Less than 2 weeks ago, the mainstream media gloried in telling the world that President Trump is a man without much popular support anymore, based on his being booed when attending a World Series game at Nationals Park (seating capacity: 41,339) in Washington, DC. Members of the crowd could be heard chanting “Lock him up, lock him up.”

The president and his party took the insult in stride:

YouTube screen grab

The District of Columbia gave Hillary Clinton 90.86% of its vote in 2016 and Donald Trump 4.09%).

Google was able to come up with no fewer than 15.7 million entries related to the phenomenon:

Things are very different in Alabama, which gave President Trump 62.8% of its vote in 2016, and Hillary Clinton 34.36%. Yesterday, Bryant-Denny Stadium (seating capacity: 101,821) erupted in sustained cheers for President Trump when he entered the football game between the University of Alabama and Louisiana State University.

Twitter video screen grab

If there is any evidence of roughly a third of the fans, presumed Hillary Clinton voters, being uncomfortable, I cannot see it.

America is dividing into two nations, one based in coastal and a few inland urban areas, full of hatred for President Trump and his supporters, and the rest of the country that largely supports him and cheers “USA, USA!” when he enters an arena.

It’s sad, but that’s where we are right now.

Scrub-a-dub-dub: Did the whistleblower scrub his social media footprint before filing his complaint?

RealClearInvestigations writer Paul Sperry, who exposed the anti-Trump impeachment whistleblower as one Eric Ciaramella, as found something else interesting about the man.

He did a pre-scrub of his social media footprint, quite possibly anticipating that he might just get famous.

Sperry points out that it roughly parallels what was seen in the social media presence of anti-Judge Brett Kavanaugh accuser, Christine Blasey Ford. Chesa Boudin, too, as I noted here, seems to have done the same thing, too.

Lefy ideas stink. Hence, the planning. The coordinating. The gettiing ready for the big bomb to go off and protecting oneself from fallout.

These things take time and organization. They also signal that far-left radicals know that their Internet past stinks. They’re loaded with things that would discredit them if they were found out – things such as talk of violence, talk of Trump-hate, and crazy socialist dictator worship. They want to portray themselves as Little Miss Muffets, so scrub a dub dub…

One wonders if Congress is ever going to get a chance to ask young Eric why those social media posts disappeared and who told him to do it.

One suspects the answer would be interesting. One also notes that suddenly, Ciaramella doesn’t want to testify to Congress.

Maybe that’s because the plotting and planning with Democrats such as House Intelligence Committee chairman and chief prosecutor Adam Schiff and his crew3 would be hard to hide with a record like this.

Megyn Kelly Calls Out Whistleblower Lawyer’s ‘Partisan, Harshly Anti-Trump’ Comments; He Responds With ‘Dictatorship’ Tweet

Though she has defended him in the past, former Fox and NBC News host Megyn Kelly says she cannot ignore the Ukraine whistleblower’s attorney’s “clearly partisan, harshly anti-Trump” past statements that “reveal an unambiguous desire to oust” the President of the United States.

Kelly made the statement online in response to a post by attorney Victoria Toensing. “Attorney for so-called whistleblower, [Mark Zaid], tweeted in January 2017 that ‘#coup has started.’ And, ‘Impeachment will follow … ‘” Toensing tweeted Thursday. “[Zaid has] been planning to take down [President Trump] for over two years. Will MSM publish the story?”

Toensing is referencing multiple tweets by Zaid from 2017 celebrating that a “coup” by federal officials had begun and “impeachment” of Trump “will follow.” Zaid made the comments in response to the announcement that Trump had fired Attorney General Sally Yates “for refusing to enforce a legal order to protect the citizens” of the United States.

“#coup has started,” Zaid tweeted. “First of many steps. #rebellion. #impeachment will follow ultimately. #lawyers.”

In another tweet, Zaid again declared the beginning of the “coup.” In response to Trump announcing the appointment of Dana Boente as Acting Attorney General, Zaid wrote: “#coup has started. As one falls, two more will take their place. #rebellion #impeachment.”

Responding to Toensing’s post, Kelly wrote: “I earlier said I’ve always known [Mark Zaid] to be a straight shooter (he’s helped clients in situations I’ve covered, no matter whether it would hurt a [Democratic] or [Republican] admin). But these tweets are clearly partisan, harshly anti-Trump & reveal an unambiguous desire to oust the [president].”

As reported by Twitchy, Zaid has since responded with another loaded statement citing “dictatorships.”

“Amazing how many [people] completely misunderstand def of ‘partisan’. I have zero affiliation [with] politics other than holding all public officials accountable,” Zaid wrote. “I wasn’t aware in America citizens had to like their president. Those are dictatorships.” Zaid also linked to Merriem’s definition of dictatorship.

After Zaid’s “coup” and “impeachment” tweets came to light earlier this week, Trump campaign communication director Tim Murtaugh told Fox News that Zaid has exposed the whistleblower’s political game.

“The whistleblower’s lawyer gave away the game,” Murtaugh said. “It was always the Democrats’ plan to stage a coup and impeach President Trump and all they ever needed was the right scheme. They whiffed on Mueller so now they’ve settled on the perfectly fine Ukraine phone call. This proves this was orchestrated from the beginning.”

If Socialism and Communism Are Great, Why 100 Million Victims and So Many Freedom Fighters?

If Socialism and Communism Are Great, Why 100 Million Victims and So Many Freedom Fighters?

The mainstream media outlets inform us, reading from the daily Democrat Party briefings, that 7 in 10 Millennials are burning to vote Socialist even though they are not sure what Socialism is and 1 in 3 Millennials think Communism is great even though they’ve heard nothing about the millions of victims of communism around the world, many buried in mass graves which are still being discovered.

It is clear to those of us who escaped communism that Millennials and their assorted fellow travellers have been asleep in history classes or were reading the radical Howard Zinn’s “nuanced” social justice history book from the 1980s which is widely used in America’s schools.

Acting White House Chief Of Staff Mulvaney Tells Schiff To Pound Sand, Skips Deposition In Sham Impeachment Inquiry

Democrats demanded Acting White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney appear on Friday to sit for a deposition.

He said no thanks.

Democrats late Thursday issued a subpoena seeking to force the White House official to appear for a closed-door interview on President Trump’s dealings with Ukraine, which have prompted Democrats to open an impeachment inquiry into the president.

“An official working on the inquiry said the House intelligence panel subpoenaed Mulvaney because other testimony indicated he ‘could shed additional light on the president’s abuse of the power of his office for his personal gain,’ ” the Associated Press reported.

Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-CA) subpoenaed Mulvaney and, along with House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Eliot Engel (D-NY) and Oversight Committee Acting Chairwoman Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) wrote that he had “substantial first-hand knowledge and information” relevant to the inquiry.

The White House rejected the demand.

“Past Democrat and Republican administrations would not be inclined to permit senior advisers to the president to participate in such a ridiculous, partisan, illegitimate proceeding – and neither is this one,” White House Deputy Press Secretary Hogan Gidley told reporters on Tuesday.

On Thursday, former national security adviser John Bolton did not appear for an interview. A pair of filings are making their way through the court system to decide whether White House officials can be forced to appear.

During an Oct. 17 press conference, Mulvaney was asked why Trump put a hold on aid money to Ukraine. “We do that all the time with foreign policy,” Mulvaney said. “And I have news for everybody: Get over it. There’s going to be political influence in foreign policy.”

He later walked back his statement, but the Democratic committee heads said he had already made a “confession.”

“Despite your subsequent attempts to walk-back this clear admission, your statements to the American public on October 17 were nothing less than a televised confession that President Trump’s order to freeze Ukraine security assistance was explicitly linked to Ukraine pursuing investigations as part of an effort to bolster the President’s 2020 re-election campaign,” they wrote.

The new “Anonymous” book sounds like a book-length James Comey tweet

To be clear, I don’t think Comey is “Anonymous.”

I think it’s Jeff Sessions. That’s the shocking finale to this season of “President Trump” — Sessions wins the Alabama Senate race to complete his political comeback, finally earns back Trump’s respect for his political pluck, then is suddenly outed as the]]>

Democrat Controlled Virginia ‘Working’ On Confiscating Guns From Law Abiding Citizens, Governor Says

Via Daily Wire: Far-left Virginia Democrat Governor Ralph Northam announced this week that he will aggressively work to implement extreme anti-gun laws in the state now that Democrats control the state, including confiscating guns from law-abiding citizens. Michigan Man Claims His Property Was Seized After He Underpaid Property Taxes By $8.41

The county government seized a Michigan man’s property after an accounting error led to him underpaying his property taxes by $8.41. His property was then auctioned and sold for less than he paid for it and for far less than what it was worth. The county kept the profits from the sale.

Uri Rafaeli, 83, purchased a home and property in Southfield, Michigan, which Reason described as “a lower-middle class suburb just north of Detroit.” Rafaeli purchased a three-bedroom, 1,500-square-foot home in the area in 2011 for $60,000, telling Reason it was “good to the state economy, and [at] the same time, it may produce a good rent for my retirement.”

The purchase was recorded in January 2012. Six months later, Rafaeli was told that he underpaid his 2011 property taxes by $496.

“Rafaeli made subsequent property tax payments on time and in full—and, in January 2013, he attempted to settle the unpaid tax debt, according to court documents,” Reason reported. “But he made a mistake in calculating the interest owed, resulting in another underpayment of $8.41.”

For that, Oakland County put his property up for auction along with about 11,000 others. The property seizure was part of a Michigan law pass in 1999 that allows such government acquisitions. The law was supposed to help rehabilitate abandoned properties, but has resulted in county treasurers seizing properties to collect revenue based on their sales.

“In the process, it creates a perverse incentive by allowing treasurers’ offices to retain excess revenue raised by seizing and selling properties with delinquent taxes—even when the amount owed is miniscule, and even when the homes aren’t abandoned or blighted at all,” Reason reported.

Rafaeli is a victim of the law and is part of a class-action lawsuit that is set to be heard before the Michigan Supreme Court this month.

The county ended up selling Rafaeli’s property for $24,500 – about $35,000 less than he bought it for and more than $100,000 less than it was valued. Rafaeli was not able to pocket the money from the auction; the county kept that for itself.

“I believed in the power of the U.S. to withstand the difficulties,” Rafaeli told Reason, “and I believed in its fairness and dignity in doing business there.”

Rafaeli is represented by attorneys with the Pacific Legal Foundation, which says more than 100,000 properties have been confiscated in Michigan since 2002.

“In thousands of instances each year, the proceeds for a given property sold at auction far exceed the delinquent tax amount and are far less than a delinquent taxpayer’s equity in the property,” the law firm said. “This results in millions of dollars in surplus proceeds and equity for the counties and tax sale purchasers.”

Reason reported that Wayne County has “funneled more than $382 million in delinquent tax surpluses into its general fund budget since 2012,” thanks to this tactic.

Philip Ellison, a private attorney who has worked on class-action lawsuits regarding this law, told Reason that the process was “government-sanctioned theft.”
