The Left’s Biggest Enemy Isn’t Conservatism, It’s Cognitive Dissonance

Cognitive dissonance is a phenomenon wherein individuals experience mental distress when they must hold beliefs that they know are contradictory. When confronted with facts that refute said beliefs, people need to either discard one of them (thereby solving the dissonance) or perform mental gymnastics to try to resolve the contradiction in their mind.

Alas, cognitive dissonance appears to be the affliction of our day, and the cacophony of contradictions of “woke” culture is to blame. Indeed, there is a psychologically confirmed positive correlation between depression and liberalism.

There are so many contradictions to resolve: We must rid the world of nationalism, but we must also have socialism.

Capitalism is terrible; read more about this every day on your iPhone.

Anthropogenic climate change is making the world warmer, even though we’re experiencing an irrefutable cold wave.

Plastic straws are evil, so we’ll use paper straws in plastic wrappers.

Anyone can change their gender at any time with the stroke of a pen, but we must have 50 percent equal representation between men and women everywhere.

We must celebrate homosexuality and Islam at the same time.

Trump definitely colluded with Russia, but Obama didn’t when he promised Russians “more flexibility.”

Drowning out all this dissonance might be the reason for the relentless stream of propaganda against the president — noise pollution makes it easy to ignore any contradictions.

The most galling paradox among so-called progressives is their crusader’s zeal for absolute rule over all aspects of life when they cannot even run cities over which they have long had complete control. The urban rot of hopelessly blue cities and states are testaments to the failure of the modern Democrat, who is more interested in virtue-signaling their support to the cause de jour rather than running a functional government.

Los Angeles has become a cesspool of vermin and medieval disease. Homeless violence has risen drastically. Last week there was a much-publicized report of a homeless individual dumping a bucket of human waste on an unsuspecting woman. This kind of nightmare isn’t new for California, but the contamination is spreading to once-great red states.

In Denver, vagrancy is so bad that the city streets have begun to look like “bathroom stalls,” and city officials have decided to fine businesses for refusing to clean up after the homeless, rather than insisting that the homeless show some responsibility.

The lunacy of modern left-wing politics — of people insisting they can save the world when they cannot even keep the streets clean — isn’t just contained to the political realm, either. Cognitive dissonance is rampant throughout all forms of leftist operations. And no liberals, it would seem, are immune.

Even South African genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist Elon Musk has fallen victim: he’s spouting one set of beliefs, then acting in a completely different fashion.

Indeed, while the very charismatic Musk describes himself as “nauseatingly pro-American,” his companies are reliant on the government subsidies to stay afloat rather than, say, the American free market. He may claim his allegiance to American interests, and he might even believe it himself — but his actions tell a radically different story.

Musk says that he loves the United States, but he seems keen to build his business everywhere but here. Just in the past year, he has opened a Tesla factory in China, and is set to begin operations in Israel and Berlin. If he appreciated America as much as he claims, why wouldn’t he want to create U.S. jobs?

His overreliance on government assistance and his proclivity toward production outside the U.S. are actively undermining the very system he claims to hold in such high regard. Again, cognitive dissonance reigns supreme among the left, and no liberals are safe from its influence.

One of the ways that power-seeking groups reinforce control is through social pressure — the modern-day term for this is “shaming.” People won’t admit what they know is true if the inquisition won’t let them.

A KGB defector many years ago described this as “ideological subversion,” where hostile actors change “the perception of reality [so] no one is able to come to sensible conclusions in the interest of defending themselves.” Mayors won’t act to clean up dirty streets, or CEOs won’t act in concert with their stated beliefs. The KGB would be delighted.

Chick-Fil-A Donates to Extremist Southern Poverty Law Center

Internal Revenue Service (IRS) records show that Chick-fil-A is not only stopping donations to Christian organizations but is funding left-wing extremist groups, including the anti-Christian Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC).

Chick-fil-A’s 2017 990 IRS filing shows the fast-food franchise made a $2,500 donation to SPLC, among a laundry list of pro-abortion and pro-LGBT orgs, Townhall reports. The Chick-fil-A Foundation has come under conservative scrutiny since its decision to stop supporting Christian charities such as the Salvation Army, caving to disingenuous pressure campaigns from far-left activists.

The SPLC is most infamous for inspiring an attempted domestic terror attack against the Family Research Council (FRC), a group that lobbies for pro-marriage and pro-life policies. In 2013, Floyd Lee Corkins II was sentenced to 25 years in prison in the first-ever conviction for domestic terrorism under Washington, DC, law. Corkins pled guilty to assault with intent to kill and committing an act of terrorism for entering the FRC’s office in August 2012 and shooting a black security guard, who ultimately thwarted his attack. Corkins used the SPLC’s “hate map” — an errorfilled digital map giving the locations of entities that the org deems “hate groups” — to locate the FRC for his planned massacre.

Corkins was carrying a bag of Chick-fil-A sandwiches when he entered the building and started shooting. He later told prosecutors that he planned to smear some of the food on the faces of his would-be victims.

FRC President Tony Perkins swiftly denounced the Chick-fil-A Foundation’s support of “one of the most extreme anti-Christian groups in America.”

“Not only has Chick-fil-A abandoned donations to Christian groups including the Salvation Army, it has donated to one of the most extreme anti-Christian groups in America,” Perkins said in a statement. “Anyone who opposes the SPLC, including many Protestants, Catholics, Jews, Muslims, and traditional conservatives, is slandered and slapped with the ‘extremist’ label or even worse, their ‘hate group’ designation.”

“It’s time for Christians to find a fast food alternative to Chick-fil-A,” he concluded.

In addition to the FRC terrorism episode, the SPLC has suffered a number of other recent setbacks and humiliations, but it has not backed down from its extremist agenda, refreshing its “Hate Map” in 2018 and putting mainstream conservative activists in the same category as neo-Nazis and the alt-right. The FRC remains a target on the map, even after the listing nearly got some of its staff killed. Other supposed “hate groups” include the Center for Immigration Studies, Center for Security Policy, Federation for American Immigration Reform, and the Clarion Project.

Trump’s Economy: Stocks Continue Record Run

Stocks edged higher in midday trading Wednesday as investors remained optimistic about trade negotiations.

Major market indexes have been reaching record highs this week as the U.S. and China signal that talks are going well.

The latest economic data also helped reinforce Wall Street’s confidence in the economy’s health.

The Commerce Department said the economy grew at a 2.1 percent rate last quarter, outpacing forecasts.

The government also reported a surprisingly good increase in orders to U.S. factories.

Technology and communications companies moved higher. Texas Instruments rose 1.6 percent and Comcast gained 1.9 percent.

Banks also made gains. The yield on the 10-year Treasury rose to 1.76 percent from 1.74 percent late Tuesday. Higher bond yields allow banks to charge more lucrative interest on mortgages and other loans.

Industrial companies were the biggest losers, with Boeing and Deere dipping.

The U.S.-China trade war remains the key focus for Wall Street as a Dec. 15 deadline nears for new tariffs on many Chinese-made items on holiday shopping checklists, such as smartphones and laptops.

Do you think the U.S. economy will just keep growing under President Trump?

Investors hope that negotiations can progress enough to at least help suspend the scheduled escalation if the nations can’t agree on a full resolution by then.

U.S. markets will be closed Thursday for Thanksgiving.

KEEPING SCORE: The S&P 500 index rose 0.2 percent as of noon Eastern time. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 1 point to 28,122. The Nasdaq rose 0.5 percent. The Russell 2000 index of smaller company stocks rose 0.5 percent.

European and Asian markets also moved higher.

RELATED: More Bad News for Dems: Trump’s Economy Still Growing, Beat Last Quarter Estimates

WEEKLY RECOVERY: The S&P 500 has so far regained its footing after stumbling last week. The index is on track for a 1.2 percent weekly gain as it continues setting records.

The Nasdaq is up nearly 2 percent for the week, which would mark its strongest gain since the end of summer.

STALLED TRACTORS: Deere fell 5.1 percent after giving investors a weak profit forecast because farmers are spending less money on new equipment.

The maker of tractors, backhoes and other agricultural machinery said the trade war and a difficult growing season has kept farmers cautious about making major investments.

EXTREME OVERSIGHT: Boeing fell just under 1 percent after federal safety regulators indicated that they will keep full control over approvals of each new 737 Max built.

The Federal Aviation Administration’s decision affects more than 300 finished Max jets currently sitting in storage.

If You Thought Schiff’s Inquiry Was Bad, Nadler’s Set To Take Over in a Week

I have an uncle who, civic-minded man that he is, had a foolproof way to get out of jury duty. What he would do was slip in, somewhere during voir dire, that he believed anyone the police dragged in was probably guilty.

He’d reliably be driving home before lunchtime.

Believing someone to be somehow guilty before any formal legal process has begun — or, indeed, even considered — seems to have worked in the opposite fashion on the House Judiciary Committee.

In announcing he wouldn’t be attending Donald Trump’s inauguration, New York Democrat Rep. Jerrold Nadler basically implied the then-president elect was the Muscovite Candidate: “He was legally elected, but the Russian weighing-in on the election, the Russian attempt to hack the election and, frankly, the FBI’s weighing-in on the election, I think, makes his election illegitimate, puts an asterisk next to his name,” Nadler said in January 2017.

So Trump was legally elected, but kinda sorta not really. Any theory the media drags in about Trump’s illegitimacy is probably true. So clearly, Nadler had disqualified himself for the position on the House Judiciary Committee that he so covete– oh no, J/K, the Democrats actually made him chairman when they took over the House after the 2018 midterms.

And now, a man who banged the impeachment drums like Keith Moon long before a single MSNBC viewer knew who Gordon Sondland was is about to take over the impeachment inquiry from Adam Schiff. So if you think things were bad before, hoo doggy.

“The House Judiciary Committee will hold its first hearing next week in the swift-moving impeachment investigation into President Trump’s dealings with Ukraine, the panel announced Tuesday,” The Hill reported.

“Behind Judiciary Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.), the committee will hear from legal scholars as Democrats weigh whether the evidence turned up in their weeks-long impeachment inquiry warrants the drafting of articles aimed at removing the president from office.”

Gee, and I wonder what position they’ll take?

Do you think Donald Trump will be impeached?

I haven’t been on the edge of my seat this much since I watched “Miracle” and couldn’t stand the suspense over whether the U.S. was going to hold onto that 4-3 lead in that hockey game against the Soviets during the 1980 Winter Olympics. Did you know that movie was based on real events? Wild stuff.

Neither Nadler nor his aides will reveal which constitutional scholars are going to be testifying, but at last check the betting odds that any of them will be members of the Federalist Society remain low.

The House Judiciary Committee chairman has written to the White House and requested that they participate in the hearings, promising “a fair and informative process.”

“I am hopeful that you and your counsel will opt to participate,” he added.

Yeah. The hearing is being called “The Impeachment Inquiry into President Donald J. Trump: Constitutional Grounds for Presidential Impeachment.” I wouldn’t be waiting for that RSVP.

RELATED: Schiff Issues Veiled Warning to Republicans Against Mentioning Whistleblower’s Name

“We expect to discuss the constitutional framework through which the House may analyze the evidence gathered in the present inquiry,” Nadler wrote. “We will also discuss whether your alleged actions warrant the House’s exercising its authority to adopt articles of impeachment.”

“The Committee intends this hearing to serve as an opportunity to discuss the historical and constitutional basis of impeachment, as well as the Framers’ intent and understanding of terms like ‘high crimes and misdemeanors,’” the letter added.

This is the panel that’s supposed to decide whether or not Trump’s dealings with Ukraine were impeachable. It’s being run on a vulgarized fast track by a guy who thought Trump was “illegitimate” from the start. Yet, if Trump’s doesn’t participate, Nadler says, there’s no room to complain about fairness.

“At base, the president has a choice to make: he can take this opportunity to be represented in the impeachment hearings, or he can stop complaining about the process,” Nadler said in a statement.

Participate in our rigged process or don’t complain how the process is rigged. Sounds about right.

If this is the kind of logic we used in other proceedings, my uncle would have made a fine jury foreman.

Months After Left Scoffed at AR-15 for Hog Control, Herd of Boar Kills Woman

A herd of wild hogs was discovered to be the cause of a Texas woman’s grisly death, and the tragic loss comes only months after the left scoffed at an efficient method of control for the dangerous species.

“In my 35 years, I will tell you it’s one of the worst things I’ve ever seen,” Chambers County Sheriff Brian Hawthorne told gathered reporters Monday.

Hawthorne was addressing the public about a coroner’s findings in the death of 59-year-old Christine Rollins. Her mauled body was discovered outside of a home in rural Anahuac, Texas, where she acted as a caretaker for an elderly couple.

A sounder of feral pigs was behind the gruesome death.

Although it’s not clear exactly what happened before the attack, Rollins was found between her car and the doorway of the home by one of her elderly patients. By the time police arrived, she was already dead.

TRENDING: Giuliani: If I Profited from Ukraine, I’d Have To Disclose It to My ‘Hopefully Soon-to-Be Ex-Wife’ Who’d Get Half

The death comes only months after some on the left scoffed at the need for AR-15s for protection against the herds.

Although the swine can be captured in traps, these are often prohibitively expensive and require hours of preparation and setup. Firearms can be toted around a property and are able to not only eliminate the hogs but actively protect against them as well.

Twitter user Willie McNabb brought this up when responding to a leftist’s attack on so-called assault weapons.

His reply soon went viral, netting over 25,000 likes and tens of thousands more responses.

The scenario, seemingly absurd to those from cities or areas that don’t have to deal with the feral menace, quickly spawned memes making a complete mockery of McNabb’s response.

RELATED: ‘Poor Little Govt. Workers’: Therapy Dogs Head to Capitol To Comfort Impeachment-Stressed Staffers

Of course, nobody’s laughing now.

The feral hogs are such a problem that many states flooded with them don’t even bother putting limits on hunters pursuing the game.

Are there feral hogs where you live?

0% (0 Votes)

Texas, for instance, doesn’t even require a hunting license in certain areas for those going after swine. Hunters in the state are allowed to take as many hogs as possible with any method they want.

Considering the massive sounders hogs wander around in, there’s no doubt that an AR-15 is the right tool for the job.

As long as these animals remain in the country, rural Americans are in danger from the deadly herds. For now, it looks like a firearm is one of the surest methods of defense against these boars.

As brush fires ravage parts of Australia, an animal native to the nation may be suffering worst of all.

Australian Koala Foundation Chairman Deborah Tabart is estimating that more than 1,000 koalas have been killed in the fires.

What’s worse is that she believes 80 percent of their habitat has been destroyed as a result of the fires wrecking an already compromised ecosystem.

Even when the fires are out, eucalyptus trees, which are the main source of food for the koalas, will not grow back for some time in the devastated areas, leading to starvation for the koalas.

People are doing what they can, from rescuing injured koalas to creating a GoFundMe page to help them in the future.

The Australian Koala Foundation has now labeled the animals “functionally extinct.”

Functional extinction is a precise term that denotes when a species is no longer a major player in its ecological role and the long-term viability of the species is in doubt, according to Forbes.

Use of the term has prompted some pushback, according to The New York Times.

“What is particularly frustrating about the term ‘functional extinction’ is it indicates a population that is basically past the point of no return, so it means that nothing really can be done,” said Jacquelyn Gill, an associate professor at the University of Maine’s Climate Change Institute.

“That might seem like scientists quibbling over terms or trying to argue for nerdy levels of precision, but a strong statement like that should mean something,” she said.

Noah Greenwald, endangered species director at the Center for Biological Diversity, said there is no question that the koala population is in dire straits.

“They’re in a lot of trouble, and they need our care and our help if they’re going to survive,” he said.

RELATED: Firefighters Save Man’s House, Then Leave Note Confessing to ‘Theft’

But even he took issue with Tabart’s depiction of the crisis.

“I think it’s premature to call them functionally extinct,” he said. “That would almost suggest that we give up hope, and I don’t think it’s at that point yet.”

Tabart, however, said her comments on the severity of the koalas’ plight are accurate.

“I have driven to pretty much every part of the country,” she said. “I absolutely know that there’s not one koala population that’s safe. I don’t care what anyone says. I have been there. I’ve seen it. I’ve written about it. I’ve been dedicated to this job for 31 years.”

Virginia ‘Second Amendment Sanctuary’ Movement Just Getting Started

The head of the group pushing Virginia counties to refuse to enforce unconstitutional gun laws, declaring themselves "Second Amendment sanctuaries," told the Washington Free Beacon he has seen an unprecedented groundswell of support that he expects to only grow.

When Virginia Citizens Defense League (VCDL) president Philip Van Cleave spoke with the Free Beacon on Tuesday afternoon, 15 of Virginia’s 95 counties had passed sanctuary resolutions; five more joined that night.

"I’ve never seen anything like this, and I’ve been doing this for over 20 years," he told the Free Beacon. "It’s a sleeping giant that had been pretty much not paying attention to politics, and now they’re awake, and now they’re flooding these sanctuary county hearings. Flooding them."

Sparked by Democrats’ capture of the Virginia legislature three weeks ago, the sanctuary movement has already passed resolutions similar to VCDL’s model in nearly a quarter of the state’s counties. The movement could give newly elected Democrats from more moderate jurisdictions pause when considering new gun control bills—especially the confiscation plan supported by Governor Ralph Northam (D.). The sanctuary proposals could also set up a showdown between state and local officials if the former adopt new gun bans or a confiscation scheme.

Van Cleave said that his group would typically garner up to a hundred people at the General Assembly for past gun bills, but that nearly a thousand showed up to support the sanctuary proposal in rural Bedford County.

"It’s sending a huge message to the General Assembly that a lot of the state does not want more gun control, certainly none of the crap that they’re pushing that does nothing but affect law abiding citizens," he said. "It doesn’t do anything for criminals."

He said Democrats elected in counties that adopt the sanctuary resolution are "gonna be under some pressure," and may be swayed by the effort.

"They’re gonna go ‘whoa, hey, if I vote for that bill you won’t have a Democrat delegate in this county for the next decade,’" Van Cleave said. "All we have to do is turn a few Democrats and these bills aren’t going to go anywhere."

The resolutions may do more than just send a message to the new Democratic majority, however. They could also have a direct impact on local law enforcement.

"It’s more than symbolic," Van Cleave said. "It can affect the employees of the county. So, you’ve got a county police force. If the employees are breaking this policy, they can be fired."

Van Cleave said he expects a majority of the state’s counties to adopt a sanctuary policy in the coming months, and his group plans to target Virginia’s sheriffs and commonwealth attorneys as well.

"It’s part of a multiple prong approach," he said. "A lot of sheriffs, and even chiefs of police, are going to be watching what localities do. Some of the sheriffs have said, ‘if my locality does this then I’m going to go along with it.’ Then, if we get commonwealth attorneys to say ‘I’m not prosecuting this stuff,’ well, that closes the loop at least in the county."

Still, Van Cleave said the sanctuary movement is not the only way to prevent the passage of new gun control laws.

"It’s important people understand, just because your county becomes a sanctuary, you’re not done," he said. "This is the very beginning. This is the first volley in a war. We’re making a hell of a volley, but the war will not be over even if every single county was a sanctuary."

He said even if every county in the state adopted the sanctuary policy, it would remain important to block potential gun-control laws from passing through the state legislature. VCDL now plans to focus on activating its members who live in Democratic districts with the intention of trying to persuade Democratic lawmakers whom VCDL had not relied on when Republicans controlled the legislature.

"We have to make sure these bills don’t make it into law," he said.

Cowardice and Capitulation: The Shocking Things Chick-fil-A Funds

There’s a lot of talk about Chick-fil-A. Most of it is generated by the #fakenews establishment that wants nothing more than to demonize an organization that, historically, has publicly professed its Christian faith that is inseparable from its business practices.

“[We are] based on biblical principles, asking God and pleading with God to give us wisdom on decisions we make about people and the programs and partnerships we have. And He has blessed us."

Those were the words of Chick-fil-A’s CEO, Dan Cathy, to the Baptist Press back in 2012 as he confirmed his biblical belief that marriage is between one man and one woman.

Days later, a disgruntled activist violently took out his disagreement with Chick-fil-A by trying to kill as many people as possible inside of Family Research Council’s (FRC) D.C. headquarters. According to the FBI interrogation, Floyd Lee Corkins chose FRC as a target because “Southern Poverty Law [Center] lists anti-gay groups. I found them online.” So, Corkins stormed inside FRC’s building, armed with a backpack full of Chick-fil-A sandwiches and 50 rounds of ammunition to “kill as many as possible and smear the Chick-Fil-A sandwiches in victims’ faces, and kill the guard."

His heinous attack was stopped by FRC’s security guard, Leo Johnson—a hero who was shot while stopping the terrorist attack. In 2012, Corkins was sentenced to prison for 25 years.

In 2017 Chick-fil-A donated money to the same corrupt SPLC that still outrageously lists FRC as a “hate group.”

The Chick-fil-A Foundation’s recent announcement about its future funding again reaffirmed its redirection and capitulation. It just so happens that the same three groups targeted for years by LGBT organizations as anti-LGBT “hate groups” just happened to be the same ones that would no longer be funded: The Salvation Army, Paul Anderson Youth Home and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Chick-fil-A’s press release acknowledges that these groups were “characterized as anti-LGBT groups” but never dispels that. They give excuses, basically, as to why they had funded these three remarkable organizations but would no longer continue to do so.

For those defending Chick-fil-A and pretending we haven’t witnessed their progression of capitulation, the Salvation Army sees it for what it is, stating in a press release: “We’re saddened to learn that a corporate partner has felt it necessary to divert funding to other hunger, education and homelessness organizations.” The Salvation Army does all three on a massive scale. But they don’t espouse an LGBT ideology.

In explaining Chick-fil-A’s funding decisions, Rodney Bullard, VP of Corporate Responsibility and Executive Director of the Chick-fil-A Foundation said: “We don’t want our intent and our work to be encumbered by someone else’s politics or cultural war. If something gets in the way of our mission, that is something that we are mindful of and cognizant of.”

Has their mission drifted way to the Left? Out with organizations that do not espouse a pro-homosexuality ideology and in with those who do, like Covenant House. Don’t let the Catholic association fool you, though. Covenant House, a homeless shelter for youth, takes pride in its promotion of all things LGBTQ. They even marched in the New York “Gay Pride” parade to show their inclusivity cred. Guess the Salvation Army (which admittedly has an issue with partially supporting abortion in cases of rape, incest and “life and health” of the mother) should’ve flown some co-opted rainbow colors to keep their hundreds of thousands in funding. Whoops. Looks like Covenant is the new Salvation.

Chick-fil-A funds the deeply political YWCA, a radically pro-abortion and pro-LGBTQ organization that repeatedly partners with Planned Parenthood.

Chick-fil-A also funds the DC-based New Leaders Council that identifies as a “hub of progressive millennial thought leadership” which exists to “support one another along their individual path to a more progressive political and cultural landscape.”

Chick-fil-A has given a sizable donation ($50k) to The Pace Center for Girls, yet another pro-abortion organization. The education and advocacy group featured radical pro-abortion feminist Gloria Steinem (the “I Had An Abortion” activist who declared that birthing children is the “fundamental cause of climate change”) as their keynote speaker for their most recent girls’ Summit.

Or, how about Usher’s New Look, R&B star Usher Raymond IV’s liberal non-profit? The group’s Disruptivator Summit is all about progressive community organizing on pivotal social issues, and Chick-fil-A funds it ($38,700 in 2017).

Chick-fil-A also gives tens of thousands to Chris 180 ($27,500 in 2017, $25k in 2019), a pro-LGBT behavioral health and child welfare service agency. The organization boasts of being awarded the “Leader in Supporting and Serving LGBT Families and Youth from the Human Rights Campaign Foundation (HRC).” Nothing promotes human degradation quite like the pro-abortion HRC—the multi-million dollar LGBT powerhouse that recently pushed for the legalization of prostitution in D.C.

You can always love and serve the broken without affirming the brokenness.

And then there’s Junior Achievement (JA), which inarguably does some phenomenal work with education and entrepreneurship. They’re the recipients of hundreds of thousands a year from Chick-fil-A. In 2016, though, JA joined a coalition (Georgia Prospers) of pro-LGBT organizations in their “Too Busy to Hate” campaign to politically oppose religious liberty legislation (specifically the First Amendment Defense Act) from passing in Georgia.

So much for “not being encumbered by someone else’s politics or cultural war.” These groups, and many more funded by Chick-fil-A, are clearly political on the Left. Of course Chick-fil-A funds a lot of great initiatives, but they’re being publicly dishonest about their corporate evolution. And the millions of families who’ve supported them over the years, because of the fast food chain’s principled stand, deserve to know the COWardice that the company has shown in the face of LGBT activism.
