How MLK Channeled the Spirit of 1776

Martin Luther King Jr. Day became a federal holiday when it was signed into law by President Ronald Reagan in 1983.

As Americans celebrate MLK Day, it’s important to recognize the contributions of King and the tradition of ideas he espoused that put him in the pantheon of great Americans.

The federal holiday may have been created in 1983, but the true origin of King’s legacy reaches all the way back to 1776.

Some of the loudest voices in today’s discourse insist that America’s origin is fundamentally flawed and broken. The New York Times’ recently-launched 1619 Project, for instance, aims to “reframe” America’s past to convince Americans that slavery and racism are the true heart of our civilization. The project’s headline essay declared that “our founding ideals of liberty and equality were false.”

One man who didn’t think our founding ideals were false: Martin Luther King Jr.

While the study of slavery is essential to understanding America’s past, it is also vital to recognize just how much of a connection King had to the Founding Fathers and the ideas that animated them.

Those ideas were born in the context of a world in which tyranny was the norm. Political rule of, by, and for the people was no more than an experiment.

Much like Frederick Douglass, King didn’t shy away from criticizing America for failing to uphold the “self-evident” truths cited in its founding documents.

In particular, as I explain in my book “The War on History: The Conspiracy to Rewrite America’s Past,” King followed a thread of ideas stemming from Thomas Jefferson’s Declaration of Independence, through Abraham Lincoln, and finally to his own time when the equal rights of black Americans were being denied by much of the country.

King was not so small-minded as to reject the ideas of the declaration because its writer, a slave owner, failed to live up to them. Instead, he embraced those ideas as fundamentally correct and recognized how they were the key to bringing about a “new birth of freedom” in his own time.

In his Mountaintop speech of 1968, given the day before his assassination, King said the black men conducting sit-ins at segregated lunch counters “were really standing up for the best in the American dream and taking the whole nation back to those great wells of democracy, which were dug deep by the Founding Fathers in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution.”

In his more famed “I Have a Dream” speech, King called the Declaration of Independence “the most eloquent and unequivocal expression of the dignity of man ever set forth in a sociopolitical document.”

He recognized the power and the truth encapsulated in that document, which laid the foundation for ending not only slavery, but laws that treated people unequally based on their skin color.

Even in the most tumultuous moments of racial tension in the late 1960s, according to historian Peter C. Myers, King “was deeply grateful for America itself, for its original and enduring promise, and its native propensity for reform.”

Regardless of its faults, King recognized that America stood as a unique bastion of freedom in a world in which liberty and justice were rarities.

He ultimately succeeded because he spoke in the natural rights language that the American people instinctively knew to be true.

King’s legacy is that he helped expand the founding promise of liberty and equal rights to all Americans. More than any other figure, he helped cash in that “promissory note” of liberty and justice for all, which the Founding Fathers had left.

In that legacy, King stands athwart today’s radicals who wish to tear America up by its roots.

As is the case with many great men, King was not without his flaws. He flirted with and even embraced failed socialist economic ideas, and fell short in his treatment of women, if recently unearthed FBI documents alleging gross misbehavior are true.

As with many great but complicated individuals of our past, King is worth celebrating in spite of his faults and limitations—as is America.

Life, much like history, can be messy and full of wrong turns, for man is fallen and imperfect. We aspire to be a shining city upon a hill, but that shining city will always appear dim in light of heaven.

Even still, King had faith that the American people, derived from all races and backgrounds, were attached in mind and heart to the ennobling legacy of 1776—the mystic chords of memory, as Lincoln would call it.

As the late historian and political philosopher Harry Jaffa wrote of King: “He dreamed of a day when the principles of the Declaration of Independence would be fully realized, not only in the institutions of American government, but in the spirit of American society.”

Contrast King’s ethos to those who today deplore “colorblind racism,” or target the Founders—including the man who wrote the declaration—for historical erasure. It would be a shame if we allow the noxious pull of identity politics to undo the work of King and others.

The American system allows us to preserve what is best about ourselves, while occasionally correcting our deepest faults.

King deserves enduring recognition from all Americans for his role in bringing civil rights to fruition and, in some ways more importantly, convincing the majority of Americans that racism stood in opposition to our founding and Biblical principles.

Our challenge today, as in King’s, is to preserve and further the legacy of 1776, and to inculcate informed patriotism among future generations so that they may have a fuller understanding of the right and wrong paths in their own time.

Faith, Family, Football: Why Patriots Tight End Benjamin Watson Champions Life

Benjamin Watson is not only a starting tight end for the New England Patriots—he’s also the father of seven children, a man of faith, a commentator, and an advocate for life.

The 39-year-old football player, who formerly played for the Baltimore Ravens, the New Orleans Saints, and the Cleveland Browns, told The Daily Caller News Foundation in an exclusive interview that his faith informs his political stances, which pushes him to speak out in defense of the truth.

dailycallerlogo

“The person who says their faith doesn’t influence how they vote or their faith doesn’t influence how they govern is lying,” he said. “Your faith is part of you.”

For Watson, faith is the “essence of who you are.”

“It’s not something you carry alongside of you,” he explained. “You live out your faith in everything you do.”

Watson’s faith inspires him to publicly stand up for the truth in an age where football players often come under fire for speaking up on political issues, He pushes back at those who say NFL athletes should keep quiet and play football.

“It’s really demeaning,” he said. “You’re taking the humanity out of the person and turning them into simply a vehicle of entertainment.”

“You’re stripping them of what makes us all human beings—our emotions, our intellect, our spirituality … all those complex things are in all of us whether we play football, whether we are journalists, whether we are politicians or doctors or stay-at-home dads or moms,” he continued. “We all have those things.”

He met his wife Kirsten through the Fellowship of Christian Athletes while they were both playing sports at the University of Georgia. The two married after Watson’s rookie year with the New England Patriots.

“She’s a visionary,” he said with a laugh. “She’s like the ‘why not.’ ‘Why not do this? Why not expand your horizons?’ She sees the vision.”

“I’m the ‘why’ person,” he added. “I need everything to be analytical. ‘Why should I do this? This isn’t going to work.’ So we really balance each other out.”

Watson and his wife have welcomed seven children into their family—a large family by anyone’s standards, but especially for an NFL football player. He said one of the most beautiful aspects of having a big family is the friendship he sees his children have with one another.

“We have a lot of fun times together, sitting around the dinner table, talking. Sometimes it’s too loud,” he said with a laugh. “We have to tell them to be quiet. But we’re able to have a lot of great conversations and I can see that getting better as they get older.”

The Watsons did not set out to have a big family, he added. They were married for about three years before they began to have children—and then they had four children in about four and a half years.

“Really, the seven happened because we were trying to even out at six,” he explained, adding that the couple experienced two “awful” miscarriages. “Then we decided to try one more time and got identical twins.”

Now the Watson family has grown so large they had to upgrade from a Suburban to a 15-passenger van.

“One of the perks is that everybody is in awe and wants to see your car,” he said. “One of the downfalls is that you can’t pull into any parking space.”

Watson said he sees his big family as an opportunity to highlight core values: the value of life and the blessings that come from his children.

“Even though it’s tough, and it’s hard and there are sleepless nights, and sometimes you can’t do what you want to do, you want to make sacrifices,” Watson said. “I’ve never heard anybody say when they get older, ‘I wish I had less kids.’”

Having a big family does not come without some backlash. Watson said that often when his wife is out without him, she will receive comments such as, “You need a TV in your bedroom,” “You know how that happened,” or “Are they all yours?”

“Then they’ll proceed to tell her that they can’t be all hers because there’s seven of them, aged 10 and under,” he said. “And then there are people that think it’s great and are amazed by it and are just really pro-children.”

Watson carries his core beliefs with him from his home to the football field and to the locker room.

He’s unafraid to speak out about his beliefs to his teammates, and he spoke warmly of the deep conversations these football players have with one another about political issues. He described his teammates as “some of the most passionate” people he has met on a “plethora of different issues.”

“They’re educated on those things as much as any 25- or 26-year-old is educated on those things,” he said. “And they really do care.”

His past and present teammates have come from many different backgrounds, he said, whether this means a different ethnic, economic, geographical, or religious context.

“But we are able to have really deep conversations that I don’t think a lot of people have at their workplaces,” Watson said. “I don’t think people stand around the water cooler and are able to have a civil conversation about the president or abortion or mass incarceration or poverty.”

“We have those conversations,” he said. “And then we kiss and make up and go play football.”

The ability to converse respectfully despite holding different opinions is something Watson said he values deeply. He said people can have these types of relationships and hold dissenting viewpoints on different topics—“very controversial topics”—and still maintain a mutually beneficial relationship.

The NFL tight end spoke out against actress Alyssa Milano in May 2019 when she said banning abortions would cause poor and minority women of color to suffer. Watson responded to Milano’s comments over Twitter, saying her words revealed ignorance and racism.

“Alyssa Milano, to claim that giving MORE children of color the right to be born will negatively affect ‘women of color’ reveals IGNORANCE, RACISM or some combination of both,” Watson tweeted. “Our children and families are capable of greatness and lies like this harm our future. Don’t patronize us.”

Milano told Watson she “never meant harm,” and that both her door and “heart are always open.” Watson explained that the two engaged in multiple private and civil discussions on abortion and that he told Milano he shouldn’t have been so aggressive in his tweet.

“We don’t agree at all on these topics, but I appreciate her willingness to engage,” he said.

His point to Milano was that “protecting children is not suffering.”

Instead of saying women of color need abortion access, Watson wants to focus on addressing poverty, on systematic, government-mandated segregation. He wants to talk about what economic factors drive many women into having an abortion.

“Let’s talk about advertising,” he said. “Let’s talk about Planned Parenthood. Let’s talk about other abortion providers that are in these neighborhoods.”

At the end of the day, the actual issue of a child living is never something bad, he said.

“We shouldn’t be advocating for anyone to have to kill their children. Let’s support mothers that are making this decision. Let’s challenge fathers to stand in the gap and be there for the children that they create because they have a huge role in this too.”

Ukraine and China Knew Hunter Biden Was a Chronic Drug Addict, Paid Him Millions Anyway – Used It as Fodder to Blackmail Joe Biden

Hunter Biden’s first arrest may have been when he was 18. Hunter was arrested on Jersey Shore related to drug charges in 1988 and had his record expunged.

Many years later and after several stops into drug treatment facilities Hunter joined his father the Vice President on a trip to China in 2013 where Hunter — inexperienced and out of place — was able to secure a $1.5 billion from China for private equity fund which he was forming at the time.

A year later in early 2014 Hunter was discharged from the Navy for testing positive for cocaine.

Then in April 2014, just a couple months later, Hunter Biden Hunter joined the Board of Burisma Holdings in the Ukraine. Hunter served on the Board until early 2019. Hunter was paid approximately $50,000 a month in his position.

The largest oil and gas company in the Ukraine hired a chronic drug addict only a few months after the addict was removed from the US Navy for doing cocaine.

In 2016 Hunter Biden returned a rental car with a crack pipe with cocaine residue and a small amount of a white, powdery substance. Hunter was never charged with a crime.

In 2018 the IRS placed a tax lien on Hunter Biden seeking $112,805 in unpaid taxes from 2015.

And according to Page Six, Hunter Biden allegedly spent time at Larry Flynt’s Hustler Club in New York City in 2018. Hunter allegedly ordered pricey booze, was joined by several strippers in a private room while he did drugs and had strippers run to find him a dildo.

These are just a few of the allegations against Hunter Biden.
After years of drug abuse there are likely many more episodes not yet public.

Any foreign intelligence service worth their salt would have known Hunter Biden was a chronic drug addict.
China and the Ukraine, and likely others, hired Hunter Biden anyway.

Why was that?
Obviously, Hunter Biden was hired for access to his father in any pay-for-play schemes.

But it now appears likely that these countries were also using this as fodder to blackmail Joe Biden.

Joe Biden set up his tormented son with lucrative foreign contracts.
Joe Biden’s senseless and selfish actions also left him open to blackmail.

How many times was Joe Biden warned of his dangerous actions related to his drug addicted son?

Will the liberal media ever investigate this?  Do Americans really believe that this man and his son should be President?

Joe and Hunter Biden would destroy the American dream if Joe was elected President.  They would blow it away!

Fox Host Bolton Says Trump Should Plaster This Chart ‘Absolutely Everywhere’

At the Democratic presidential debate earlier this week in Iowa, several of the candidates made it clear they were ready to take on President Donald Trump regarding America’s economy.

Pete Buttigieg, the former mayor of South Bend, Indiana, declared, “I am ready to take on this president on the economy, because I am from the exact kind of industrial Midwestern community that he pretends to speak to and has proven to turn his back on — and guided that community through a historic transformation.”

Billionaire activist Tom Steyer, meanwhile, said the president was a phony when it came to economic issues.

“Whoever is going to beat Mr. Trump is going to have to beat him on the economy, and I have the experience and the expertise to show he’s a fake there and a fraud,” Steyer said. “Look, Mayor Pete has three years as an analyst at McKinsey. I have 30 years of international business experience. I can beat Trump on the economy.”

And, in a moment which should have evoked laughter in any other forum, former Vice President Joe Biden also said he could take Trump down based on the economy.

“With regard to the economy, I can hardly wait to have that debate with him. Where I come from, the neighborhoods I come from, they’re in real trouble — working-class people, middle-class people,” Biden said.

“I’d love that debate because the American public is getting clobbered. The wealthy are the only ones doing well — period.”

The reason that should have evoked laughter, for those of you who’ve already forgotten the history of the late aughts and early tens, is how the economy was doing under the Obama administration.

If you’ve forgotten that, you’ve also likely forgotten the what the economy’s looked like for the last 40 years.

Do you think Donald Trump has done a good job of managing the economy?

0% (0 Votes)

That’s why Fox Business host Deirdre Bolton said Thursday on Fox Nation’s “Deep Dive” that there’s one chart the Trump administration should be plastering “absolutely everywhere.”

It’s the one thing that Democrats are loath to admit: Things are actually pretty copacetic, economy-wise, under the current administration.

The chart in question shows the average unemployment rate for the first 35 months of a president’s term.

The highest average rate during the first 35 months of a term was 9.3 percent under Barack Obama.

While this is somewhat to be expected — Obama took office in the midst of the Great Recession, after all — it doesn’t erase the fact his administration didn’t do much about it for the first few years.

The next-highest average unemployment rate during the first 35 months of a term was under Ronald Reagan, who took over while the malaise hangover from the Jimmy Carter years was still in effect.

A worldwide economic slowdown in the early 1980s didn’t help, and while the United States managed to get out of the doldrums pretty early, that still led to a 9 percent average unemployment rate.

Overall, the lowest rate among non-Trump presidents was under George W. Bush, who managed a 5.5 average unemployment rate despite 9/11 and the economic downturn in its wake.

During the first 35 months of Donald Trump term?

A historically low 3.9 percent average unemployment rate, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

“If I were the Trump campaign, I would just be plastering that absolutely everywhere,” Bolton said.

And it’s not just the 1 percent, either.

As Fox Business host Charles Payne pointed out, workers’ wages are going up faster than the wages of those above them.

“The first time it happened was September of 2018,” Payne said.

(Fox Nation / screen shot)

“And it’s happened every single month, except one, where blue-collar workers’, not supervisory workers’, wages have grown faster than their supervisors’. It’s amazing.”

James Freeman, an editor with The Wall Street Journal, said this meant the Democrats would need a new line if they’re going to win in 2020.

“There needs to be, I think, a new Democratic economic message,” he said.

“They’re basically giving the same talking points from 2015 and 2016, when we talk about the average person’s wages are stagnating and the middle class doesn’t have the same opportunity.”

This all coincided with a Thursday report from the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia which showed rebounding numbers for slumping industrial production in the mid-Atlantic region.

“Fourty-four percent of firms questioned in the Philadelphia Fed’s survey said they were seeing increased demand for their products, while 30.5 percent reported falling demand,” Fox News reported.

“Of the businesses reporting higher demand, 25 percent said they were going to hire more workers and 33 percent said that they were going to increase hours.”

“For the first time in 26 years, according to census, and [BLS] data, we have seen income gains in all Metropolitan areas,” Fox Business host Elizabeth MacDonald said.

“Now, we’ve also seen 45 states seeing their state tax revenue back before pre-recession levels, according to Pew Charitable Trusts.”

“So are people buying the 2020 Democrats’ doom and gloom?”

Well, Biden, Buttigieg and Steyer are — and they want you to believe they can do a better job of handling the economy for the average American, even though the average American is doing much better under the Trump administration than they ever were under Obama, or, really, any president in recent memory.

If the Trump campaign wanted to decimate whoever the Democratic candidate is, this chart would be what they’d plaster everywhere — simply because no one in the field has an answer to it.

And remember, Trump was supposed to destroy the economy.

First it was that he was unhinged and inexperienced.

Then it was that trade wars would decimate us.

Then it was that a recession was just around the corner, talk that curiously seemed to disappear about the same time impeachment kicked into high gear.

Now it’s that Trump’s economic proposals have solely benefited the rich.

None of that is true.

Unemployment is low, the stock market and GDP are high, and economic indicators are good.

That’s going to be difficult for the Democrats to counter with the tired old lines about impending economic doom.

What Do Democrats Fear in Donald Trump? Greatness

James Carville says Trump is the greatest threat to America since the fall of communism.  It is easy to laugh away such a declaration, but I think there is an invaluable truth expressed.  Trump is as important in stature as the United States’ most formidable military and political opponent of the twentieth century.  Trumpism as an ideological force has the mass and acceleration of a Soviet Empire that threatened to conquer the world.  Nobody speaks about the Bush Doctrine in such terms.  Nobody confuses the Obama Doctrine or the Carter Doctrine as projecting that kind of power.  Yet here we are, just three years after the election, and somehow the belittled and mocked hotel owner from Queens has stumbled into creating a movement that matches in strength and potency what took Marx, Lenin, and Stalin over a century to perfect.  Consider the fear that Carville and his ilk must harbor about what is to come.

What does he see that makes him tremble so?  In a word, greatness.

How could he not?  When you see a man being endlessly ridiculed and scorned brush off those insults with ease and smile back, you know something is different.  When you watch a 6’3″ sack of energy bustling across the stage four or more times a day in suit and tie before tens of thousands of spectators watching his every move, and he seems more rested and comfortable than the press gallery a third his age, you know you haven’t seen this before.  When his enemies spend years using the combined forces of corporate media, the legal system, and the intelligence agencies to dispose of him one way or another, and the man responds with an off-the-cuff one-liner that shows he could not care less, you know you are dealing with something rare.

Carville hates the man because he knows what he is.  Donald Trump is a world-historical figure.  He is not merely a part of history; he is an agent warping it with his own gravity.  His ideas and actions represent a firm break from the prevailing paradigms of the past.  His is an original voice arguing aggressively against the status quo.  If everything about this moment feels different, that’s because it is.  We are all witnesses to history’s play, but few generations see a world-historical figure ascend to its stage.

The media are blind to the moment, but future historians will see.  Almost everything in the public sphere is now defined in relation to Donald Trump.

He stood on the dais during his inauguration and practically said, “See all these Republicans and Democrats and their great plans for our country?  I’m going to destroy them all and burn down most of what they’ve built since World War II.”  No wonder both sides joined hands with the Deep State and attempted to do by coup what Hillary could not.  Winning the American presidency is one thing, but shining a bright light on what the American government has become is something else entirely.

Consider how many powerful ideas Donald Trump has cast into the national consciousness.  He has exposed both major parties as socialist globalist cults more concerned with government health care and foreign nation-building than a policy for American freedom.  He has exposed how free trade can never be free when based on slave labor.  He has exposed how the silent destruction of towns across the Midwest came not from China’s comparative advantage, but from American companies’ use of slavery by proxy.  He has redirected investment away from Wall Street and toward Main Street for the first time in over thirty years and has unleashed three decades’ worth of pent up entrepreneurial energy in the very towns long deemed dead.  He has questioned how the federal government can have any legitimacy if it fails at enforcing its very own immigration laws.

Not one Nobel laureate imagined this American renaissance of GDP and stock market surge, record-low unemployment, wage growth, and low inflation in one bubbling cauldron.  It took a change agent.  Not one foreign policy mandarin suggested unleashing the entrepreneurial spirit of the American oil man in order to destroy our enemies’ power over us permanently.  It took a change agent.  Not one State Department official questioned why the United States was still subsidizing Europe’s generous socialist welfare system seventy years after WWII.  It took a change agent.  Nobody wondered why we were enriching China at our own expense and preparing for a world where a communist dictator would lead.  It took Donald Trump.

Without worry or apology, Donald Trump stands before the world with a giant mirror, and the world does not like what it sees.  At a time when Western governments have found common cause with murderous dictators in demanding limits to free speech and free minds, Donald Trump goes to Poland and excoriates European socialism as the newest iteration of human bondage.  He celebrates the very Western civilization that the West now works to bury.  More than anyone on the world stage, he argues for individual freedom as the indispensable ingredient for civilization itself and free nations as the essential bulwark against international governance and tyranny.  In speech after speech across the globe, he stands alone and pushes back against the weight of history’s currents.

The world has noticed.  It is Donald Trump to whom Nigerian Christians turn for survival from Islamic terror.  It is Donald Trump who has strengthened Israel by keeping promises his predecessors lacked the fortitude to see through.  It is Donald Trump whose name is often whispered by freedom-fighters in Venezuela, whose American flag is respected by regime protesters in Iran, and whose image is waved by thousands demanding freedom in Hong Kong.  Nobody clamoring for freedom is waving pictures of Angela Merkel in the air, but in Hong Kong and Taiwan, a photoshopped image of Donald Trump as Rocky Balboa is easy to find.  At a time when the German chancellor argues for limiting free expression, those people most desperate to escape China’s yoke see the American president as the only fighter who might help set them free.  He is our American president, but he belongs to the world now, too.

Because he is actively working to destroy entrenched ideas and institutions, his opposition is clear-eyed and equally aggressive.  Rather than the traditional political tug-of-war that pits adverse interests against each other without significant movement toward any direction, President Trump as a world-historical driver of change is engaging in pitched battle with winner-takes-all stakes.

Whether he ultimately succeeds in shifting various equilibriums is irrelevant to his role in history.  In victory or defeat, he represents a firm marker against which past and future events will be viewed.  What his fiercest adversaries are only now realizing is that Trump has shifted the trajectory of history permanently.  He is not operating on their terms; they are all actors in the Trump Era.

How do you go up against an era?  That’s like going up against a season.  Whether you like it or not, summer and winter are with us.  No wonder James Carville is afraid.

How do you go up against an era?  That’s like going up against a season.  Whether you like it or not, summer and winter are with us.  No wonder James Carville is afraid.

Kathy Griffin Admits to ‘Straight Up Begging’ For Work After Trump Beheading Photo

Leftist actress and comedienne Kathy Griffin has admitted she resorted to “straight-up begging” for work after being widely denounced after posing for a photo in which she held President Donald Trump’s bloody and decapitated head.

Griffin made the revelations to USA Today, who she talked to in the wake of her 90-second cameo as herself on the Netflix psychological thriller You.

“I straight up was just begging for five lines on something that would be seen by people that had nothing to do with Trump, nothing that was controversial,” she revealed.

During the interview, Griffin also claimed that showrunner Greg Berlanti admitted to giving her the cameo because of all she had done for the LGBT community.

You showrunner (Greg Berlanti) called me up, he was so nice he said, you know he’s a gay guy, he said, ‘You know Kathy after all you’ve done for the community, all these decades I’m happy to do this for you,’” Griffin explained.

Griffin, who last year complained that the experience of being hounded left her “unemployable and uninsurable,” added that she had become a different person as a result.

“While the picture has caused me a lot of duress it’s also made me global, everybody knows the crazy red-haired lady from the photo,” she said. “It has made me more fearless and I really feel strongly that whoever comes at me, they have to understand I’ve prevailed against the president of the United States.”

The 59-year-old comic also maintained that she does not plan to stop railing against Trump anytime in the near future. “I’m not going to stop; I’m not going to back down from this president or this administration one bit, and they know it,” she warned.

Now we know how confused Democrats are about who is and who is not an imminent threat to America

In 2016, the Obama administration determined that candidate Trump was an imminent threat to their chosen career criminal candidate Hillary Clinton. They were worried that the power they had amassed, while remaking America, was in jeopardy. Therefore, they decided to use massive amounts of taxpayer money and many agencies to take Trump out. Doesn’t that clearly violate the Hatch Act?

The first thing they had to do was get Hillary off from her many violations of the law. They had the Justice Department do a pretend investigation. Then there was a chance meeting of Attorney General Loretta Lynch with Bill Clinton followed up by a pretend interview with Hillary. Then, congenital liar James Comey, who had exonerated Hillary months before, came out and listed all the crimes Hillary had committed but lied that no prosecutor would ever take the case.

Next, they had to go after Trump and his associates.

The corrupt Hillary and the DNC obviously couldn’t find truthful information to take out Trump, and couldn’t run on their unpopular policies, so they paid a foreign national, Christopher Steele, more than $10 million to produce a fictional document to take out Trump. The DNC and Hillary also filed fraudulent documents with the FEC claiming these were legal fees.

The Obama administration, through the corrupt, politicized Justice department and intelligence agencies, had illegally spied on thousands of Americans during its term and had to figure out a way to mislead the FISA court in order to spy on people surrounding Trump so they came up with the idea to claim Trump was colluding with Russia  despite having zero evidence that was true.

They decided that Carter Page was expendable so they claimed he was a spy. They continually lied (they did not make mistakes) to the FISA court about evidence but all they had was the fictional dossier from Steele. An attorney at Justice altered documents and they didn’t even tell the court that the dossier was paid for by the DNC and Hillary. The truth was inconvenient, so they continually lied to the court. All these facts have been evident for years, yet the complicit media hasn’t cared because they also don’t want Trump as president. It is dangerous to America to have an in-the-tank media.

The Obama administration also decided they wanted informants in the Trump campaign, so they went after George Papadopoulos to entrap him. He was also expendable.

The DNC computers were hacked, and they blamed Russia but refused to let government officials examine the evidence. The fact that they didn’t see evidence didn’t make any difference to the Obama administration, journalists or other Democrats. They just repeated what they were told, like puppets.

The Russian collusion story was obviously fake, or they would also have targeted the Clinton campaign which had many connections and contacts with Russia.

President Obama obviously wasn’t very concerned because in the summer of 2016 — he gave a stand down order to his cyber security chief to stop investigating Russia.

The targeting didn’t work, and Trump was elected. The threat to bureaucrats and Democrat policies was now more imminent than ever so they had to attack harder. The strive to impeach started on day one. President Obama, suddenly, changed the way classified documents could be shared. Susan Rice and others started illegally unmasking names and leaking like a sieve. Somehow only people surrounding Trump were targeted for unmasking.

Michael Flynn was now expendable and was targeted, entrapped and the corrupt, politicized Justice department illegally hid exonerating evidence as they bankrupted and charged him.

Then, with no evidence, we got the two-year Mueller investigation and endless Congressional investigations vainly searching for a crime to impeach Trump with. Sadly, they couldn’t find any.

Judge Brett Kavanaugh, soon to be nominated to the Supreme Court, was also determined to be an imminent threat to the Democrat agenda so they sought to take him out with no evidence. There is no end to the number of people the media and other Democrats will seek to destroy as they quest for and protect their power. They will even seek to destroy white teenagers who dared attend a pro life rally wearing MAGA hats.

The election of 2020 was coming up, the economy is good, and Trump is a bigger imminent threat to radical Democrat policies than ever. Magically a whistleblower (leaker) shows up and makes up some stuff about a conversation Trump had with the Ukraine leader even though he wasn’t privy to the conversation. Suddenly whistleblower rules were changed to not require direct knowledge. The leaker went to congenital liar Adam Schiff’s staff before the complain was filed.

Trump was such an imminent threat that the Democrats had to rush through impeachment. They still couldn’t come up with actual crimes, so they created fictional ones. Facts again are irrelevant.

The threat was so imminent that they rushed the vote without evidence and fact witnesses. Survival of America was at stake. But wait, after the vote, Pelosi violated Trump’s sixth amendment rights and withheld the impeachment articles from the Senate for a month.

Now, after three years of targeting and destroying many people surrounding Trump, we have found someone journalists and other Democrats have determined has been unfairly targeted. Iran’s chief terrorist, General Qassem Soleimani.

They have questioned whether this terrorist killer, who has been responsible for the killing and maiming of hundreds of thousands, including hundreds of Americans, was an imminent threat and should have been killed.

My guess is every member of our military, private contractors, Iranian protestors and innocent citizens throughout the Mideast consider themselves under imminent threat every day of the year because of terrorist groups sponsored by Iran and because of Soleimani.

President Obama and his administration are responsible for a significant amount of money Iran and Soleimani had to carry out terrorism throughout the world.

They lied to get the deal done, bribed the leaders with $1.8 billion, stopped an investigation into drug running, released $150 billion in frozen funds and dropped the sanctions which freed up $100’s of billions. The Europeans also have major responsibilities into ratcheting up the danger of Iran.

But Trump is the imminent danger because he killed the terrorist general and Congress must now limit his power. Not once did they have a resolution reigning in Obama as he attacked Libya and used drones to kill, but Trump is the problem and dangerous.

The Democrats want to rein in Trump, but they refused to vote for a resolution condemning Iran for taking down the airline and for killing over 1,000 protestors. They won’t even support the protesters against the tyrants. Why is there so little reporting that Iran killed so many of its own people?  The answer is that it doesn’t fit the Democrat agenda.

House Democrats blocked a resolution on Tuesday that expressed support for oppressed Iranian protesters and condemned Iran for shooting down a Ukrainian passenger plane last week that killed 176 people.

“Consideration and a vote on House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s resolution was blocked … by a vote of 226-191,” The Daily Caller reported. “The resolution would have condemned the Government of Iran for killing 1,500 Iranian citizens who were protesting their government, as well as condemned the Government of Iran for shooting down Ukraine International Airlines Flight 752, killing 176 people.”

The greatest imminent threat to America’s peace, prosperity and freedom would be to listen to journalists and vote for Democrats as they seek to take out Trump who is trying to return the power and purse to the people as fast as he can and protect us from terrorist sponsoring countries like Iran.

Bernie’s words about climate change are inspiring frightening people

One of the things that obsessed the candidates on during Tuesday’s 7th Democrat primary debate was climate change. Whatever they say, whatever they promise, it always loops back to that topic.

Bernie, especially, framed the matter in doomsday terms. When he challenged the USMCA trade deal, he skipped over the usual economic grounds for opposing a trade deal and, instead, said that the deal failed on climate grounds (emphasis added):

[E]very major environmental organization has said no to this new trade agreement because it does not even have the phrase “climate change” in it. And given the fact that climate change is right now the greatest threat facing this planet, I will not vote for a trade agreement that does not incorporate very, very strong principles to significantly lower fossil fuel emissions in the world.

[snip]

So I happen to believe — and I hope we will talk about climate change in a moment — if we do not get our act together in terms of climate change, the planet that we’re going to be leaving our kids and our children — and our grandchildren will be increasingly unlivable and uninhabitable.

Bernie’s ominous take on climate change perfectly parallels the take of Kyle Jurek, an Iowa Field Organizer for Bernie’s campaign. Project Veritas introduced America to Jurek on Tuesday through a video in which Jurek gleefully boasted about burning cities, “suiciding” Clintons, and imprisoning or executing those who dissent from his hard-Left world view.

(Interestingly, there is no word from the Sanders campaign about whether they intend to continue employing Jurek. To date, according to Project Veritas, Jurek has received over $10,000 for his work on the Bernie campaign.)

Project Veritas was back today with another video focusing on Kyle Jurek. In it, viewers get to hear more about Jurek’s horrifying and un-American views. He’s especially taken with Soviet gulags. After first stating that these torture institutions that killed well over a million people were significantly better than American prisons, Jurek riffs on the virtue of and reasoning behind imprisoning those who don’t get with the revolution. And if they refuse to fall in line, Jurek thinks killing the opposition is the way to go. Today’s video is, in some ways, a re-hash of yesterday’s video, only worse.

What made this video significantly different from Tuesday’s was listening to Jurek explain why his extremist measures were appropriate. Although one feels that Jurek enjoys violence and power for their own sake, he has a different justification for his violent desires. Unlike your average communist, Jurek doesn’t engage in the usual talk about class warfare, economic equality, or even identity politics. For him, it’s all about avoiding Armageddon:

Yeah, and that’s where we’re at right now. We’re at one of those moments in human history, where it’s, like, we’re fighting for survival, we’re fighting for survival of the entire human race. We’re fighting for the survival of living creatures on Planet Earth and there’s some people that will stop at nothing to preserve that, right?

Like, to see, to see the human race continue into the future. Right? To try and save the f**king planet from f**king destruction. And no matter what country and what laws that exist, they’re irrelevant to, there are things greater than those systems, right?

There are things that are more important than the rule of law in the United States, when it comes down to the existence of the human race. And that’s where we’re at.

Unfortunately, in, like, this is, like, there are very few, there are probably no other points in human history, in, like, recorded human history where, like, the stakes were as high as they are right now. Like, we are at a f**king, we’re, we’re at the end, we’re at the end of the road and, like, the way we choose to go, it’s going to determine like, hey, are we going to continue as a species or are we going to f**king burn up in a f**king century?

Or as Bernie said more pithily, “climate change is right now the greatest threat facing this planet,” and the failure to act will leave it “increasingly unlivable and uninhabitable.” Unintentionally or not, Bernie and the other candidates are giving the most dangerous people in America justification for acting on their instincts. No wonder people are worried, as O’Keefe said at the video’s end, that Jurek might even try to assassinate President Trump. In Jurek’s mind, why shouldn’t he do what he can to save the world from “the greatest threat facing this planet.”

In California, it’s better to be a thief

In California thieving is officially okay.

No, no, they won’t say it is. But it is, nonetheless. For if what a person steals is worth less than a nine hundred and fifty bucks it goes pretty much unpunished. Maybe there’ll be a fine. Usually not even that. Thieves like this. The victims of the thefts usually not so much.

This past week a young couple who had just few months back moved into a new home in the small city of Visalia, CA, were arrested. That for doing something that the state of California’s legal codes still sees as a no-no and punishes. They beat several people up with a baseball bat.

Having been the victims of theft their very first night in the community, and then again, the next, and then again and again, they decided to do something about it. They placed an unchained bicycle in their yard and then they lay in wait.

When a thief appeared — as they knew one would — they jumped out of hiding and beat him with that bat. Then they did the same thing again and again, night after night. And each time they made a video of their actions and posted it on YouTube.

Earlier this week that couple were arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon and conspiracy.

None of the thieves were arrested. That, the police say, was because the couple never made an official report of the crimes.

Is there a lesson in this? Yes, I think there is.

Laws, at least in theory, are put into place to protect the law abiding from the criminal. Such allows the non-criminal to go on with their lives safe in the knowledge that The State is looking out for them.

When a state does what California has done — and that other states are today doing — it allows theft to go unpunished while tightening the ‘screws’ in one way after another on the law abiding, “law” in its customary sense is turned upside down.

The results of doing this are what we see above.

Who, as you read that story above, did your heart naturally root for? The homeowners? Or the thieves?

Yeah, me too.

Ah, California!

San Francisco continues to shine a light on what Leftism does to civilization

In the 1970s, San Francisco, as was true for most major American cities, had gotten very shabby. While tourists still flocked to the neighborhood directly north of Market Street, where they could find Union Square, fancy stores, and upscale hotels, those who crossed Market Street and headed south found themselves in a four-block-square area of unpleasant squalor. There were always a handful of drunken men sleeping it off in the doorways of decrepit buildings and the sidewalks stank of urine.

By the end of the 1970s, San Francisco began a massive plan to revitalize that area. It tore down the decayed buildings and, in their place, built the Moscone Conference Center, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Yerba Buena Gardens, and the Metreon theater and shopping center. It was all beautiful and inviting. People loved coming to trade shows and conferences in San Francisco, and families happily took their children to the museum, the garden, the skating rink, and the movie theaters.

Things aren’t like that anymore. While it was once just the South of Market region that was icky because of a few sleeping (or rambunctious) drunks, some stinky pee, and some shabby buildings, tourists are discovering that San Francisco’s entire downtown is inundated with hundreds of scary homeless people, mounds of fecal matter, thousands of discarded needles, and clusters of tents and shopping carts.

That the buildings still look nice is irrelevant. To get to them, one has to do the urban equivalent of walking across slippery stones spaced at far intervals in a slimy, alligator-filled swamp.

Ironically, all of this foulness and decay lives cheek by jowl with incredible wealth and excess. San Francisco’s Leftist government has effectively recreated a medieval city, in which the wealthy hide behind gilded walls while the poor wallow in filth and despair. And no, that’s not just a disenchanted native San Franciscan speaking. That’s according to Bloomberg, which reports on the JPMorgan Healthcare Conference being held in San Francisco this week, an event that attracted thousands of bankers and executives:

The JPMorgan gathering at the Westin St. Francis, which attracts about 10,000 people, has long drawn the ire of some attendees. Conference-goers have taken to Twitter and blog posts to express concerns about the homeless situation and watching city officials clean up human feces, all while spending thousands of dollars on hotel rooms and resorting to holding meetings in bathrooms.

[snip]

Most of the hotels in the conference’s vicinity were completely booked weeks ahead of time, with rooms that were available going in some cases for more than $2,000 a night. A more affordable option, the Lombard Plaza Motel, was sold out Monday but had rooms for as much as $500 a night starting Tuesday, according to Alex Patel, a front desk attendant. That’s nearly four times its normal rate.

[snip]

“I’ve been coming to JPM for five years, and the homeless situation has gotten much worse,” Selin Kurnaz, co-founder and CEO of New York-based Massive Bio, said at a party Monday night in the Tenderloin. “I feel unsafe walking around at night, especially as a young woman.”

What’s sad is that, while many people recognize that San Francisco has become a dystopian landscape, too few make the connection between its decay and its hard Left governance. Mental illness and substance abuse are certainly a problem, but letting people get away with everything short of murder, and subsidizing their worst behaviors, is more of a problem.

As the tag line to the movie Field of Dreams so memorably said, “If you build it, they will come.” What’s happening in San Francisco is not how you make the problem go away. It’s simply how you grow your government at the expense of ordinary citizens and businesses:
