Nightmare At Sea – Up To 10,000 Quarantined On Three Cruise Ships Amid Virus Outbreak

Nightmare At Sea – More Than 7,000 Quarantined On Two Cruise Ships Amid Virus Outbreak

Thousands of people are trapped on two cruise ships where coronavirus is quickly spreading. Already, tests are coming back positive, with more expected in the coming days.

More than 7,300 people have been quarantined on two cruise liners, one off Japan and another off Hong Kong, for fears that the deadly virus has infected passengers and crew.

A total of 3,700 passengers and workers are quarantined on Princess cruise ship, owned by Carnival Corporation & plc., which is moored off Yokohama, Japan.

Twenty passengers have already tested positive for coronavirus, with more expected to test positive in the coming days.

Infected passengers include three Americans, two Australians, seven Japanese, one from Taiwan, two Canadians, one New Zealander, and three Hong Kong citizens. One Filipino crew member is also sick, Carnival said in a statement.

Japan’s Health Ministry said a total of 20 had been infected with the deadly virus on the vessel. It said the rest of the passengers would remain in quarantine for two weeks.

The second ship is the World Dream, a cruise ship operated by Dream Cruises, currently moored in Hong Kong’s Victoria Harbor as a precautionary measure. All 4,000 passengers are undergoing testing after three former passengers tested positive for coronavirus.

Edith Poon, a spokesperson for Genting Hong Kong Limited, the holding company that owns Dream Cruises, confirmed that 30 crew members had symptoms of the virus.

"We are currently waiting for the results to come in," Poon told USA TODAY. "Upon availability of the results, we shall comply with the Department of Health’s instruction on the next step forward. Until then, as advised by the Department of Health, all passengers of the cruise ship are to remain on board."

Last week, there was a false alarm aboard the Costa Smeralda, when a female Chinese passenger displayed symptoms of the deadly virus. The ship was in quarantine off the coast of Italy, while health officials conducted tests. It was later discovered she had the "common flu," and the ship was allowed to embark on the rest of its journey.

O’Keefe Finds New Evidence That Sanders Is Paying Violent Communist, Twitter Bans Him for It

Another day, another prominent conservative figure in the doghouse with Silicon Valley social media giant Twitter.

According to a recent news release from Project Veritas, famed right-wing guerrilla journalist and publication founder James O’Keefe was suspended by the platform Tuesday for allegedly breaking site policies which prohibit the posting of people’s “private information.”

The suspension comes nearly two weeks after O’Keefe used the platform to publicize documents revealing that at least one Bernie Sanders supporter caught on video discharging deeply violent rhetoric recently was in fact a paid campaign employees, rather than simply a volunteer.

Of course, such campaign payroll information, coming directly from the Federal Election Commission, is both generally accepted and legally regarded as public knowledge.

TRENDING: Company That Helped Cause Iowa Caucus Disaster Is Run by Former Clinton Campaign Staffers

Not to mention the document was posted in the interest of fighting political disinformation — an issue that has supposedly risen to the top of every widely regarded social media corporation’s list of primary concerns for the 2020 election cycle.

In fact, it was not until Washington Post reporter David Weigel downplayed recent controversial videos of Sanders’ staffers, labeling those spewing the aggressive rhetoric as simple campaign “volunteers,” that O’Keefe came forward with FEC documentation and publicly requested that a retraction be made.

“Weigel said the subjects of our investigations were campaign volunteers, not true,” Project Veritas reporter Eric Spracklen wrote.

Do you think Twitter’s policy enforcement is biased against conservative figures?

0% (0 Votes)

“To prove the inaccuracy our Tweet linked to page found on the Federal Election Commission website showing the ‘volunteer’ was in fact a paid staffer of the Sanders campaign,” Spracklen continued.

“The Post reporter retracted his story.

“The information we reported is in the public domain, there is nothing ‘private’ about it.”

None of this, however, was enough to stop the big tech powers that be from suspending O’Keefe’s Twitter account indefinitely.

“UPDATE: @Twitter has still not responded to @JamesOKeefeIII appeal for reinstatement after being LOCKED for reporting an @FEC paystub of @BernieSanders campaign staffer Kyle Jurek; information that is publicly available and easily accessible,” Project Veritas tweeted Thursday.

RELATED: Democrats Used Non-Citizens To Help with Iowa Caucus

Weigel, posting patently false political information under the auspices of The Washington Post, had done no wrong in Twitter’s eyes.

After deleting his initial false claim, the reporter seems to have walked off without so much as a slap on the wrists from the platform.

O’Keefe’s posting of important political information legally regarded as public domain, on the other hand, was somehow worthy of punishment.

Apparently, it was unacceptable for a professional journalist to air out in the public forum a political document you or I could simply search for on the web.

That is, it was unacceptable because those documents could potentially damage the candidacy of a wealthy, socialist candidate who’s well-liked by the snobbish millennials of California’s big tech boardrooms.

Heaven forbid you know the Sanders campaign has under its employ a notable handful of fringe individuals who would gladly see violent class warfare — if not outright “revolution” a la Russia 1917 — on the streets of the modern United States.

As Project Veritas itself noted, the statements of field organizers like Jurek, who implied Sanders supporters should drag journalists “out by their hair and light them on fire in the streets” should the Democratic National Committee nominate another candidate are news, plain and simple.

Field organizer Martin Weissgerber’s open praise for Soviet gulags and re-education camps responsible for the deaths of millions in the late 20th century was news as well.

And Twitter’s willingness to silence those who report such things over wrongful claims of disinformation, doxing or other forms of misbehavior only reveals one thing: The technology industry hasn’t a care in the world for drawing a line between sources that deliver truth and sources that deliver disinformation.

All they care about is ensuring as many users as possible are engaging with their approved sources of information.

Viruses, including the now-infamous novel coronavirus, have driven China to the brink of economic disaster. Now, the country is rolling back tariffs on U.S. products as the communist nation’s economy threatens to take a dive.

China’s Thursday decision saw tariff cuts on $75 billion of American imported goods, The Associated Press reported. Among the imports affected are soybeans, pork and auto parts.

Although the move comes as part of a January deal, it’s clear that the Asian powerhouse can no longer safely continue the costly economic war.

This is due in large part to the emergence of 2019-nCoV, a virus that has ballooned to over 28,000 infections in mere months. A costly containment and recovery effort has done little to stem the infection rate.

Currently, more than half of China is in some form of shutdown or quarantine to control the virus, CNBC reported.

The parts of China now under these restrictions account for a whopping 80 percent of the country’s GDP.

This news spooked investors, causing the Shanghai Composite Index to take an ugly dive as uncertainty swirled over the virus’ potential.

While many of the shutdowns are scheduled to end mid-February, there is speculation that the quarantines could be extended if the virus is not controlled to a manageable extent.

On top of coronavirus fears, another pathogen is also at work undermining the Chinese economy.

African swine fever, which does not affect humans, has decimated China’s pig herds.

The disease does not have a cure and readily spreads among swine, so farmers are forced to destroy their hogs in an effort to control the often fatal illness.

As pork is the most popular meat in China, the purges have resulted in a major spike in prices. Citizens living under the communist regime are now turning to alternative meats — including dog.

For those planning to fall back on chicken, there’s even more heartbreak to be found.

China was gut-punched a second time as H5N1, more commonly known as bird flu, broke out in a chicken farm. After thousands of the birds died, an additional 17,000 were culled to halt the disease’s spread.

Food security in China is a major issue, with several generations still alive that saw firsthand the leading communist party’s policies result in deadly famine.

Easier access to American pork and soybeans will likely ease these worries.

For the Chinese, it’s been an incredibly rough few months. As the fear of coronavirus still has much of China in the dark behind a quarantine order, it’s unclear when the country will see brighter days.

Indiana University Offers Sex Fest, Includes Woman Being Whipped

At Indiana University (IU) in Bloomington, Indiana, the University’s Health Center is offering its 4th annual sex fest, complete with sex toys and flogging tools as well as instructional diagrams. They even offer a demonstration of a woman being whipped as part of the spectacle.

The Indiana Daily Student reported:

A panel discussion on fetishes will take place 8 p.m. Feb. 5 at the Willkie Formal Lounge. SexFest is now partnered with “Cupcakes and Condoms,” a recurring sexual health fair at the Indiana Memorial Union. Attendees can receive free cupcakes, contraceptives and other prizes 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Feb. 6 in the Frangipani Room of the IMU.

The event is organized in collaboration with the student-run Sexual Health Advocacy Group, the Community Capacity for Prevention and Education, the Residence Hall Association and the IU Health Center … Attendees of the events can take home free T-shirts reading “I Love Sex.”

In an exclusive report, Blair Nelson of Campus Reform noted:

Campus Reform obtained exclusive photos of other parts of the event from Wednesday night, showing tables at the event full of whips, paddles dildos, and other sexual objects.  One table contained a flyer that listed different types of “nipple toys” which included a “clothespin,” “nipple pump,” “nipple lasso,” “magnetic clamp,” “adjustable clamp,” “clover clamp,” “nipple tweezer,” and “hand.”

Nelson added:

Another flyer asked attendees to “circle things you know you want” and to “cross out things you know you don’t want.” Among the options to either circle or cross out in the “bondage” category were “rope,” “leather/cuffs,” “cages,” “collar/lead.” In the “sensation play” category, “electricity,” “hair pulling,” “scratching,” “mind f***s,” and “exhibitionism” were among the options. One category inquired about “marks,” giving participants the option of “none,” “for the day,” “for the week,” or “for the year.”

A conservative Indiana University student congressman, Matt Ahmann, told Campus Reform, “I find it very disappointing the Indiana University is sponsoring such a weird event.” He stated, “I’m beyond disgusted that this a university-sponsored event,” adding that IU “is morally bankrupting my generation.”

Indiana University spokesperson Chuck Carney told Campus Reform, “One of the topics most requested by students was how to practice BDSM safety. Our public health researchers have found some evidence to suggest that people are engaging in a broader range of sexual activities and as a result, it is the IU Health Center’s mission to make sure they practice it safely, following the BDSM community’s principal tenets of ‘safe, sane, and consensual.’”

Indiana University is the home of The Kinsey Institute for Sex Research, named after Dr. Alfred Kinsey, who was known as the “Father of the Sexual Revolution.” Judith Reisman, author of Kinsey, Sex, And Fraud: The Indoctrination of a People,” wrote:

Kinsey solicited and encouraged pedophiles, at home and abroad, to sexually violate from 317 to 2,035 infants and children for his alleged data on normal “child sexuality.” Many of the crimes against children (oral and anal sodomy, genital intercourse and manual abuse) committed for Kinsey’s research are quantified in his own graphs and charts.

For example, “Table 34” on page 180 of Kinsey’s “Sexual Behavior in the Human Male” claims to be a “scientific” record of “multiple orgasm in pre-adolescent males.” Here, infants as young as five months were timed with a stopwatch for “orgasm” by Kinsey’s “technically trained” aides, with one four-year-old tested 24 consecutive hours for an alleged 26 “orgasms.” Sex educators, pedophiles and their advocates commonly quote these child “data” to prove children’s need for homosexual, heterosexual and bisexual satisfaction via “safe-sex” education. These data are also regularly used to “prove” children are sexual from birth.

WATCH: Democrat Pete Buttigieg Refuses To Disavow Infanticide

Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg refused to state that he did not support infanticide on Thursday during an interview on ABC’s “The View.”

Co-host Meghan McCain highlighted a previous extremist remark from Buttigieg when he suggested last year that a baby could be aborted up until they had their first breath.

“It obviously in my circles was passed around everywhere because I think the interpretation from pro-life people like me was that you meant a baby actually being born and then possibly you know there’s a lot of controversy with Governor Northam and what it means and what time a woman should be able to have an abortion,” McCain said. “I just wanted you to clarify because I found that statement to be pretty radical.”

Later, after talking around the question, McCain asked, “But what if a woman wanted to, I don’t know, invoke infanticide after a baby was born, you’d be comfortable with that?”

“Does anybody seriously think that’s what these cases were about?” Buttigieg lashed out.

“There are people pushing for that, yes,” McCain noted.

Buttigieg responded by refusing disavow infanticide.

“Think, think about the situation, if this is a late-term situation, then by definition it’s one where a woman was expecting to carry the pregnancy to term, then she gets the most perhaps devastating news of her life,” Buttigieg responded. “We’re talking about families that that may have picked out a name, may be assembling a crib, and they learn something excruciating and are faced with this terrible choice, and I don’t know what to tell them morally about what they should do; I just know that I trust her and her decision medically or morally isn’t gonna be any better because the government is commanding her to do it in a certain way.”

TRANSCRIPT:

MCCAIN: So I was really surprised, I saw an interview you did on a radio show where you were talking about abortion and I think this got a lot of play in conservative media and conservative circles where you were talking about and this is your quote, ‘there’s a lot of parts of the Bible that talk about how life begins with breath, so even that is something we can interpret differently.’ It obviously in my circles was passed around everywhere because I think the interpretation from pro-life people like me was that you meant a baby actually being born and then possible you know there’s a lot of controversy with Governor Northam and what it means and what time a woman should be able to have an abortion. I just wanted you to clarify because I found that statement to be pretty radical.

BUTTIGIEG: Well, I’m, I’m just pointing to the fact that, uh, different people will interpret their own moral likes and for that matter interpret scripture differently, but we live in a country where it is extremely important that no one person have to be subjected to some other person’s interpretation of their own religion. I know we’re not going to agree–

MCCAIN: Partial birth abortion is something that was coming up, like I said [with] Governor Northam it was a huge controversy when he was running for governor and I think people, even Democrats, and a lot of pro-life Democrats in the country, want to know exactly where your line is because you will be the president if you win.

BUTTIGIEG: Right, but my point is that it shouldn’t be up to a government official to draw the line it should be up to the woman who’s confronted with the choice.

MCCAIN: But what if a woman wanted to, I don’t know, invoke infanticide after a baby was born, you’d be comfortable with that?

BUTTIGIEG: Does anybody seriously think that’s what these cases were about?

MCCAIN: There are people pushing for that, yes.

BUTTIGIEG: Think, think about the situation, if this is a late-term situation then by definition it’s one where a woman was expecting to carry the pregnancy to term, then she gets the most perhaps devastating news of her life. We’re talking about families that that may have picked out a name, may be assembling a crib, and they learn something excruciating and are faced with this terrible choice and I don’t know what to tell them morally about what they should do I just know that I trust her and her decision medically or morally isn’t gonna be any better because the government is commanding her to do it in a certain way.

MCCAIN: I respect what you’re saying because you didn’t back down from it, this is gonna hurt you in the middle of the country with the Republicans you’re trying to win over. People like me, this is a hard line and quite frankly that question that answer, you’re just as radical as I thought it was, sorry.

HAMMER: Mitt Romney Is No Shining Example Of Political Principle

Following his vote yesterday to convict President Donald Trump on the House’s first adopted impeachment article, “abuse of power,” Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) is being hailed and feted as a paragon of moral conviction and political principle by all sorts of strange new friends. In Romney’s mild defense, his Senate floor speech explaining his vote evinced a genuine internal struggle, and he voted to acquit the president on the risible, constitutionally illiterate second impeachment charge of “obstruction of Congress.”

Let us first state the obvious: Romney made the wrong decision to vote to convict the president on the first article of impeachment. This was the most blatantly partisan impeachment sham in a century and a half, going back to the vehement “Radical Republican” opposition to President Andrew Johnson. The conduct upon which Democrats attempted to impeach Trump is dramatically less ruinous than the conduct upon which the Framers would have considered impeachment justified, and reeks of the sort of petty politics that led the Framers to deliberately reject the far lesser “maladministration” as a possible constitutional standard for impeachment.

What’s worse, Romney’s vote rewards an unhinged Democratic Party that has only further coarsened our politics, further embittered an already fractious and tribal citizenry, and recklessly lowered the bar for future impeachments so as to make them far likelier — perhaps even mundane — when differing political parties come to control the House and the White House. Romney’s vote also (1) will muddy the re-election waters for endangered Republican moderates who did vote to acquit, like Sens. Susan Collins (ME), Cory Gardner (CO), and Thom Tillis (NC); (2) likely caused at least one (perhaps more) of moderate Democratic Sens. Joe Manchin (WV), Doug Jones (AL), and Kyrsten Sinema (AZ) to flip their votes from acquittal to conviction; and (3) therefore likely single-handedly transformed a bipartisan impeachment acquittal into a bipartisan conviction.

The analysis that Romney’s vote was merely a personal choice is thus too simplistic by half. There actually were, are, and will be tangible consequences to his decision. Those consequences will disproportionately redound against Republicans’ interests, come November. Hopefully, Republican primary voters in Utah are paying attention.

But even more importantly, the emerging narrative that Romney’s vote was symptomatic of a broader fealty to devout political principle is beyond farcical and needs to be swatted down. Mitt Romney, the man who ran against Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-MA) in 1994 by avowing he’d be to the “left” of Kennedy on “gay rights” but then famously described himself as “severely conservative” when seeking the Republican presidential nomination in 2012, has taken both sides of essentially every major political issue imaginable in his career. He has publicly waffled on at least gun rights, abortion, embryonic stem cell research, health care, illegal immigration, tax cuts, and Israel. Romney is undoubtedly a lifelong devout Mormon and we can all admire his devotion to his faith — but at least in the realm of politics, he has had no truer guiding light than the solipsistic pursuit of his own raw political power.

Consider Erielle Davidson’s column yesterday at The Federalist:

For starters, Romney’s track record on religious freedom has been poor. Catholic leaders in Massachusetts, the state in which Romney formerly served as governor, have emphasized Romney’s role in forcing Catholic hospitals to administer the abortifacient Plan B, even if doing so violated the consciences of the employee required to administer the deadly drugs. “The injury to the conscience rights of Catholic hospitals was not done so much so much by the church’s ideological enemies on the Left but by the Romney administration,” C.J. Doyle, executive director of the Catholic Action League, explained to LifeSiteNews.com back in 2012. …

In a 1994 debate with Sen. Ted Kennedy of Massachusetts, he proudly announced, “I believe that abortion should be safe and legal in this country. I believe that since Roe v. Wade has been the law for 20 years, that we should sustain and support it. I sustain and support that law and the right of a woman to make that choice.” He “evolved” to eventually arrive at the pro-life position. …

The playbook is the same for health care, where he went from supporting an insurance mandate — arguing that he would love to export the Massachusetts Romneycare model to the nation at large — to accusing Bret Baier of being “wrong” when the Fox host attempted to remind him of this. The Baier interaction occurred in 2011, as Romney geared up for yet another presidential bid.

I have met Mitt Romney and, by all accounts, he seems like a genuinely good, decent, and upstanding man. I will not join those who are now calling him a “traitor” to the republic. But he made a very foolish decision yesterday — a decision, that is, with far broader-reaching implications than many may immediately realize. Romney’s vote, furthermore, is hardly indicative of his being a principled conservative — or even a principled anything in the sphere of politics. Rather, his vote is indicative of life’s worth of political work in which the junior senator from Utah, former governor of Massachusetts, and twice-failed presidential candidate has flirted with more political stances than Bill Clinton has flirted with Little Rock call girls. Romney is not a shining example of principle so much as he is a shining example of overly finely tuned technocratic indecisiveness.

Tax the Rich: Pope Francis Calls for Global Wealth Redistribution

Tax cuts for the wealthy constitute a “structure of sin,” Pope Francis said Wednesday in a passionate address calling for international wealth redistribution.

“Every year hundreds of billions of dollars, which should be paid in taxes to fund health care and education, accumulate in tax haven accounts,” the pontiff told participants in a Vatican seminar, “thus impeding the possibility of the dignified and sustained development of all social agents.”

“Today’s structures of sin include repeated tax cuts for the richest people, often justified in the name of investment and development,” Francis told the meeting organized by the Pontifical Academy for Social Sciences.

During his discourse, the pope repeated his conviction that poverty is on the rise worldwide and “the poor increase around us.”

With the passage of time and the advances of civilization the number of poor people increases rather than diminishing, Francis similarly asserted last June, and “the poor are always poorer, and today they are poorer than ever.”

As a Brookings Institution report noted in late 2018, however, the world is currently experiencing “the lowest prevalence of extreme poverty ever recorded in human history — less than 8 percent,” and that number falls with each passing year.

According to the widely used “international poverty line,” people are considered to be in “extreme poverty” if they live on less than $1.90 per day or its equivalent.

In the world today, less than 10 percent of the global population lives in extreme poverty, whereas just 30 years ago (1990), some 37 percent of the world lived in extreme poverty. Two centuries ago, nearly everyone in the world lived in extreme poverty.

While in the year 1800 almost 90 percent of the world’s population subsisted on less than $1 a day, that percentage had been constantly falling, dropping below 20 percent in the year 2000 and below 10 percent in the present day.

It is not only “extreme poverty” that is falling, however. The global poverty rate has been falling across every single poverty line, whether the bar is set at $1.90 a day or $10 a day.

In his address Wednesday, the pope lamented that the per capita annual income in the world this year will be $12,000 “according to official reports.”

According to data from the World Bank, however, annual per capita income worldwide has been increasing dramatically year by year and in 2018 was $17,948. Furthermore, the World Bank reveals, global per capita income has increased by over 200 percent since 1990 and is now more than three times higher than its 1990 level of $5,498.

This does not suggest that poverty is not a problem or that poverty reduction is not a worthy and important goal. It does mean, however, that global poverty is not increasing but is decreasing rapidly. In free market economies that favor wealth creation such as the United States, “extreme poverty” has virtually been eradicated.

For example, in 2005, 78.3 percent of households living in “poverty” (by U.S. standards) had air conditioning, whereas in 1970, 36.0 percent of all households had air conditioning.

“If extreme poverty exists in the midst of wealth (also extreme) it is because we have allowed the gap to widen to become the largest in history,” the pope said. “The world’s 50 richest people have $2.2 trillion worth of assets. These fifty people alone could fund the health care and education of every poor child in the world, whether through taxes, philanthropic initiatives, or both.”

It must be acknowledged, however, that no such “gap” exists between the wealthy and the poor, since the vast majority of people live somewhere in the middle. There is not a cluster of ridiculously rich people followed by an immense mass of very poor people. The majority of people are neither very rich nor very poor.
