Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar Stay Seated While Tuskegee Airman Is Honored with Standing Ovation

As a divided Washington took an emotional moment Tuesday night to honor one of the last remaining heroes of World War II, two progressive lawmakers appeared unwilling to join in honoring one of the last surviving members of the legendary Tuskegee Airmen.

Video from President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address shows Reps. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota and Rashida Tlaib of Michigan seated while other Democrats — who throughout the speech mostly refused to join Republicans in applauding Trump — stood to honor Charles McGee.

McGee was a member of the Tuskegee Airmen, a unit of black aviators who were barred from fighting and flying alongside whites during the era of segregation. The Tuskegee Airmen distinguished themselves in combat during World War II.

“After more than 130 combat missions in World War II, he came back to a country still struggling for civil rights and went on to serve America in Korea and Vietnam. On Dec. 7, Charles celebrated his 100th birthday,” Trump said in honoring McGee.

“A few weeks ago, I signed a bill promoting Charles McGee to brigadier general. And earlier today, I pinned the stars on his shoulders in the Oval Office. General McGee: Our nation salutes you,” Trump said.

As Republicans and Democrats rose to applaud McGee, Omar and Tlaib did not.

Democratic Rep. James E. Clyburn of South Carolina also failed to applaud, The Washington Post reported.

Tlaib and Omar were among those who left the speech early, according to The Week.

Both tweeted their condemnations of Trump on Tuesday:

Many on social media were disgusted at the disrespect shown to McGee:

At another point during the speech, Omar and Tlaib were seen conversing with each other:

And as the video below reveals, Omar and Tlaib were among those who remained seated when Trump proclaimed, “We must always remember that our job is to put America first.”

The Democrats’ behavior was not unexpected.

“My Democratic colleagues, they sat on their hands last time, even when there wasn’t an impeachment,” Republican Rep. Mark Meadows of North Carolina told The Post before the speech. “They’ll sit on their hands this time, in spite of impeachment.”

Republicans Call on ‘Sore Loser’ Mitt Romney to Be Expelled from Republican Party

Republican Party leaders, GOP congressmen, and former White House officials called Wednesday for the GOP to expel Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) for his decision to vote to convict President Donald Trump during the impeachment trial.

Romney, the 2012 failed Republican presidential candidate, announced on the Senate floor Wednesday that he will vote to convict President Trump of obstruction of Congress and abusing the office of the presidency.

“The president is guilty of an appalling abuse of public trust,” Romney said.

U.S. Senate

Utah’s junior senator previewed his decision to vote to convict the president in an interview with the Atlantic Tuesday. He said that it was the “most difficult decision I have ever had to make in my life.” Romney then spoke with Fox News Channel anchor Chris Wallace, a known critic of President Trump.

Romney said in his interview with the Atlantic‘s McKay Coppins:

The president did, in fact, pressure a foreign government to corrupt our election process. And really, corrupting an election process in a democratic republic is about as abusive and egregious an act against the Constitution—and one’s oath—that I can imagine. It’s what autocrats do.

Romney also said that he will not make an endorsement during the 2020 presidential election and will not vote for Trump during the election. He also said, “Under no circumstances would I vote for Bernie Sanders or Elizabeth Warren to become president of the United States.”

Ronna McDaniel, the Republican National Committee chairwoman, tweeted Wednesday that the party stands with President Trump over Romney.

“This is not the first time I have disagreed with Mitt, and I imagine it will not be the last. The bottom line is President Trump did nothing wrong, and the Republican Party is more united than ever behind him. I, along with the @GOP, stand with President Trump,” McDaniel said.

Donald Trump Jr., the president’s son, said that Romney is “bitter” that he will never be president and called on the GOP to expel Romney from the party.

Trump Jr. wrote, “Mitt Romney is forever bitter that he will never be POTUS. He was too weak to beat the Democrats then so he’s joining them now. He’s now officially a member of the resistance & should be expelled from the @GOP.”

Andrew Surabian, a former White House staffer, tweeted, “ExpelMitt.”

Sam Nunberg, a former adviser to Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign, rhetorically asked, “Is @MittRomney making a last ditch effort to become the @DNC nominee?”

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) tweeted, “Mitt Romney is a sore loser.”

Lee Zeldin, a member of the president’s legal defense team, chastised Romney as a spiteful lawmaker who remains upset that he could not defeat Barack Obama during the 2012 presidential election, while Trump became president after defeating Hillary Clinton.

The New York congressman said:

Mitt Romney absolutely despises that Donald Trump was elected POTUS & he was not. The sore loser mentality launched this sham impeachment & corruptly rigged & jammed it through the House. It looks like Schiff recruited himself a sore loser buddy on the GOP side to play along.

Nancy Pelosi throws a public temper tantrum and other Democrat misbehavior

Two different events played out on the floor of the House on Tuesday night. The first was President Trump’s powerful, moving, uplifting, and optimistic State of the Union speech. The second was the immature, arrogant, intemperate, and really disgusting temper tantrum in which Democrats indulged.

The most obvious sign of a complete mental breakdown on the left was Nancy Pelosi’s conduct during the speech. Her petulant behavior could not be missed because she was seated behind the president, to his left. Whenever the camera was on Trump, it was on Pelosi too.

Pelosi’s hissy fit first showed itself when Pelosi refused to give Trump the traditional formal introduction. Traditionally, Speakers of the House say that it is their “high privilege and distinct honor of presenting to you the President of the United States.” Pelosi, however, in grudging and rushed tones, simply said, ‘Members of Congress, the President of the United States.”

Things went downhill from there. When Trump handed copies of his speech to Vice President Pence and Pelosi, Pelosi extended her hand for a shake, but Trump did not extend his hand back. There’s much debate about whether it was an oversight on his part or an intentional insult. You can decide for yourself:

As Trump began to speak, Pelosi began to perform a running pantomime behind his back. Rather than listen to Trump’s speech, she leafed through the written speech he gave her. She also wriggled around in her chair, sucked her dentures, made disdainful faces, waved to people in the crowd, and generally behaved like an angry 15-year-old girl whose parents have forced her to attend a formal event. It was painful to watch the person who is third in line to the presidency behave in such a childish, rude manner.

Being intentionally disrespectful and disruptive, though, was just a warm-up for Pelosi’s final act. When Trump’s speech ended, she carefully gathered together her copy of the speech into neat little piles, ostentatiously ripped each pile in half, and disdainfully dropped them on the table in front of her:

Afterward, Nancy was even more insulting:

Ethel C. Fenig notes that she ripped up:

One of our last surviving Tuskegee Airmen.

The survival of a child born at 21 weeks.

The mourning families of Rocky Jones and Kayla Mueller.

A service member’s reunion with his family.

That’s her legacy.

The Democrats seated in the House were just as bad. As Trump methodically went through all the wonderful things that have come to the American people in the past three years, they sat there, angry and lugubrious. They refused to clap for record low unemployment, especially for minorities; record rising wages for blue-collar jobs; a secure Southern border; shrinking food stamp and welfare rolls; a rising stock market; criminal justice reform; energy independence; beneficial new trade deals; a revitalized American military; vocational studies in high schools; ending free medical care for illegal aliens; and, of course, Rush Limbaugh’s Medal of Freedom.

The Democrats thought that they were protesting Trump. That’s not what Americans saw, though. They saw politicians so invested in regaining political power that they deeply resented Americans becoming richer, healthier, and safer. If Democrats were smart, they would applaud what Trump has achieved and promise to do even better. Instead, they keep peddling their dystopian nightmares and promise that, once given unlimited power, all will be well again. It’s an ugly look.

Other Democrat lowlights:

(The Cummings bill, of course, was anti-free market, making it the equivalent of rent control for medicine.)

This has been a bad week for Democrats: First, their impeachment effort not only failed, it drove up Trump’s popularity. Second, they made a complete hash of the Iowa caucuses, which must have caused more than one person to wonder if they’re capable of managing a country. And third, they humiliated themselves by behaving like boorish, immature brats. This was not a principled protest; it was a tawdry, tin-eared tantrum.

The Senate voted Wednesday to acquit President Donald Trump of both articles of impeachment brought against him by the House of Representatives.

House Democrats passed two articles of impeachment in December accusing the president of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress in relation to Trump’s July 25 phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

During the call, Trump asked Zelensky to look into Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden’s dealings in Ukraine while the elder Biden was vice president and point man for the Obama administration’s policy toward Kyiv.

Neither impeachment article identified criminal conduct by Trump.

On the first article of impeachment regarding abuse of power, the Senate vote was 48 guilty, and 52 not guilty.

TRENDING: Super Bowl Halftime Show Contained a Subtle Anti-Trump Immigration Message

The vote was strictly along party lines, except for Republican Sen. Mitt Romney of Utah.

Romney broke ranks and vote to convict Trump, announcing his decision from the Senate floor ahead of the vote.

“The president is guilty of an appalling abuse of public trust. What he did was not perfect. No, it was a flagrant assault of our electoral rights, our national security and our fundamental values,” Romney said.

On the second article of impeachment, obstruction of Congress, 47 senators found Trump guilty, while 53 said he was not guilty in a strictly party-line vote.

Ahead of the vote, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell urged senators to break the “factional fever” that fueled the nation’s first completely partisan impeachment in House.

Trump’s acquittal came following Friday’s Senate vote rejecting calling additional witnesses to testify in the impeachment trial.

After remaining non-committal on the issue, Sens. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Lamar Alexander of Tennessee voted with the Republican colleagues in opposition to further testimony.

In a Friday statement after the vote against calling in further witnesses, McConnell said, “A majority of the U.S. Senate has determined that the numerous witnesses and 28,000-plus pages of documents already in evidence are sufficient to judge the House Managers’ accusations and end this impeachment trial.”

A total of 17 witnesses testified during the House impeachment inquiry.

In a December letter to McConnell, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer called for four additional witnesses, including former National Security Adviser John Bolton and acting White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney.

McConnell said in response that it’s not the Senate’s responsibility to spend its time and resources going on a “fishing expedition” to try to cure a flawed House impeachment inquiry, overseen by House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff.

“So now, the Senate Democratic leader would apparently like our chamber to do House Democrats’ homework for them,” the majority leader said. “He wants to volunteer the Senate’s time and energy on a fishing expedition to see whether his own ideas could make Chairman Schiff’s sloppy work more persuasive than Chairman Schiff himself bothered to make it.”

Trump’s acquittal ends a four-month impeachment process, which began in late September with Pelosi’s announcement that the House was launching a formal inquiry into Trump’s alleged wrongdoing.

Trump puts a stake through Marxism

Every now and again, a single human has an impact far beyond his lifespan.  Marx was one.  Donald Trump will be another.

We have been living in the shadow of Marx’s corpse since his death almost 137 years ago.  This is despite the fact that socialist economics has been debunked, and Marxist political experiments have been an unmitigated disaster.  Yet, like a continually adapting virus, Marxist ideologues have infected every area of knowledge.  Consequently, Marx-inspired dogma informs the politics of the Left, the hermeneutics of academia, Common Core‘s woke “bootcamp for the global economy,” rabid feminism, justification for bureaucratic intervention, revenge plots against the traditional Western canon, revisionist history, the undermining of individual freedom in favor of “victim” groups, and now the deconstruction of human nature itself.

Worse has been the recent liaison of the Left with the globalist Right, represented by the likes of George Soros, the Bush dynasty, the clepto-Clintons, RINOS, and “Manchurian candidate” Bloomberg (invested to the eyeballs in China).  As NeverTrump Bill Kristol says, “We’re all Democrats now.”  Marxism was an international movement from its inception.

Yet, in merely three years, Donald Trump has felled the Marxist Goliath.  While lowering taxes and pruning the overgrown administration, he has raised up the “downtrodden.”  The poor are finding jobs and getting off food stamps.  Black American employment has never been so high.  Unemployment has rarely been so low.  Those companies who sold out to globalism are returning to the USA.  The economy is booming.

Donald Trump has exposed the corruption of unelected bureaucrats and depraved politicians (an inevitable outcome of socialist regimes).  He has not feathered his own nest by propping up a foundation to camouflage grand theft, and he abstains from collecting the salary he’s entitled to as president — hardly the action of a dictator!  Patriotism is more important to him than siding with one class against another, as the Left does.  And he does not believe that God is the opiate of the masses, which Marx and Lenin claimed.

He sees the state as the protector of last resort for its citizens, not as the instrument of oppression, as Marx accused.  Yet, under communism, the state became the greatest source of terror to its people, from the Soviet Union to China.  And let’s not forget the “socialism” in Hitler’s National Socialism — and its millions of victims!  Unelected bureaucrats remain abusers of power in local, national and global arenas — under the pretext of serving the people.  What hypocrisy.  They serve themselves!

Now we understand why the Left hates Donald Trump.  He’s put a stake through Marxism.  And the Left knows it’s fighting for its life.  It will ultimately lose, but the battle is far from over.  The enemy congests within institutions of power like an overgrowth of candida.  No wonder the body politic is suffering chronic inflammation!

Donald Trump is the new broom of the New Conservatism.  Unlike the Left, he does not seek to remake society through an endless revolution of radical transformations.  His broom is to sweep the Republic’s Augean stables, to crop the pile-up of regulations and cauterize the deformed ideologies that have mushroomed inside the morbid Marxian corpse.

A good cleaning and decontamination will unveil the solid bones of the Republic and its supreme Constitution — one of the most illustrious documents ever written.  The venerable conservative thinkers of the first half of the twentieth century, ignored by the Left, will return and give us light.  The New Conservatism is founded on the primacy of hearth and home, which secure the family as the fundamental unit of society.  Our first human bonds are those between parents and children.  The family deserves to be revered, not desecrated by feminist rants against men, LGBT lobbies, murdering the unborn, and perpetuating childish dependence through the Nanny State.

Trust must be restored.  It is the organic glue that holds a community together.  Marx destroyed trust, and the state stepped in to compel unity by the threat of force.  The Rule of Law will be restored, and all citizens should speak English and be educated to respect the American way of life and its history.  We are the taxpayers.  We have the power to do it in partnership with the president.  The Left has turned the state into a racket for extorting citizens, and it’s about time we supported Donald Trump in holding its feet to the fire.  Clearly, there is an enormous amount of work to be done in dealing with corruption, the public dishonesty of the Left’s MSM, and the urgent necessity to defang leftists’ poisonous ideology.

Marx viewed tradition with utter contempt.  He believed that his “scientific method” had unlocked the key to the perpetual political engineering of society.  Perhaps he, and his ideological offspring, ought to have taken warning from the Father of the Scientific Method itself, René Descartes.  Descartes admonished against the “claim of any private individual to reform a state by altering everything, and by overturning it throughout” (quoted in The History of Political Philosophy, edited by Leo Strauss and Joseph Copley, pp. 712-713).

Donald Trump will be forever remembered.  He proved, in real time, that Marxism is no more than “fake news,” and he is leading us into an American Renaissance.

Trump Slams Dems’ “Unmitigated Disaster” In Iowa: “Nothing Works, Just Like They Ran The Country”

Trump Slams Dems’ "Unmitigated Disaster" In Iowa: "Nothing Works, Just Like They Ran The Country"

President Trump just can’t stop winning.

Not only did Dems fail to win enough Republican votes to call John Bolton to testify at the president’s impeachment trial in the Senate (which so far has attracted a tiny fraction of the attention paid to the Senate trial of former President Clinton), but in one of the greatest unforced errors in American political history, they also botched the Iowa caucus, helping to restore the widespread cynicism that permeated the 2016 contest.

And since Trump isn’t the kind of politician to resist taking a victory lap, he did just that Tuesday morning in a scathing tweet reminding Americans why they shouldn’t trust the Democrats to run the country.

Because the real winners of the Iowa Caucus was…the Republicans?

We suspect we haven’t heard the last about the Iowa caucus (which Trump won handily in 2016) from President Trump’s twitter feed. Tying the Iowa disaster to the botched rollout of the Obamacare exchanges in 2014 is exactly the political narrative that Trump and his team will need to deploy if they want to clinch a second term in November.

Democrat Train Wreck Continues: “They Can’t Even Run a Caucus and They Want to Run the Government”

The train wreck continues.   The results of last night’s Democrat caucuses in Iowa are still unknown.

After four years of building a case that they know what’s best for America, the Democrats finally had their chance to show their stuff and instead they laid an egg.

President Trump tweeted this morning:

The President’s Campaign Manager, Brad Parscale, tweeted about the Democrat Party meltdown.

Others point out how suspicious it is that the Des Moines Register poll wasn’t released at the same time the Democrat caucus results are delayed:

The Democrats won’t provide the name of the contractor used in their caucus counting mess:

The train wreck continues:

The conspiracies start even in the Democrat ranks:

What a mess!

Judicial Watch: Eight Iowa Counties Have Registration Rolls Larger than Number of Eligible Voters

(Washington, DC) – Judicial Watch announced that eight Iowa counties have more voter registrations than their eligible voting-age population. According to Judicial Watch’s analysis of data released by the U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC) in 2019 and the most recent U.S. Census Bureau’s five-year American Community Survey, eight Iowa counties are on the list of 378 counties nationwide that have more voter registrations than citizens living there who are old enough to vote, i.e., counties where registration rates exceed 100%. These 378 counties combined had about 2.5 million registrations over the 100%-registered mark. In Iowa, there are at least 18,658 “extra names” on the voting rolls in the eight counties at issue.

Milwaukee’s Democrat Convention host committee is imploding, too

The Democrats’ chaos in Iowa may be just a foretaste for what lies ahead when the party convenes its convention in Milwaukee July 13th.  Well before Sanders supporters get a chance to make good on their threat that “Milwaukee will burn” if Bolshie Bernie doesn’t garner the nomination, the host committee that raises money to hire security guards among many other expenses, is mired in scandal, and is unlikely to be trusted in anything it does from now on.

Milwaukee: Come for the brats and beer; stay for the riots and and firebombs

Daniel Bice of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports:

The two top officials overseeing Milwaukee’s host committee for the 2020 Democratic National Convention were sidelined Monday amid allegations of a toxic work culture.

In a letter to staff obtained by the Journal Sentinel, the board said it had retained an attorney to investigate “concerns about the work environment” for the Milwaukee 2020 Host Committee.

During the investigation, Liz Gilbert, president of the host committee, will not be in the office and “will not have direct contact with staff,” the letter says. Adam Alonso, the chief of staff for the group, has been placed on administrative leave, pending the outcome of the probe.

The two have previously come under criticism for continuing to do work for New Jersey Democrats while leading the Host Committee full time. The New Jersey Democratic Party dumped Alonso from his $15,000-per-month consulting gig late Monday.

Aside from the ordinary and routine (for Dems) corruption of holding down to ”full time jobs” a thousand miles apart, the “work environment” apparently does not withstand scrutiny in this era of #MeToo and racial hypersensitivity:

In interviews with the Journal Sentinel over the weekend, two experienced political hands who have worked with the host committee described it as having a toxic culture rife with power struggles, backbiting and mismanagement. (snip)

The second official said they would become sick to their stomach when working with the host committee, the first time they experienced a toxic work environment, despite working on numerous campaigns. “You know it when you see it, when you feel it,” the second official said.

Both added that they had high hopes for the host committee. But they said the culture at the committee reflects none of that enthusiasm.

I am so old that I vividly remember the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago, less than a  hundred miles away, when antiwar (and anti-establishment) radicals engaged in street warfare with the Chicago Police Department, thereby demonstrating to the nation the unfitness for power of the Democrats, and electing a man they loathed almost as much as they loathe Donald Trump: Richard Nixon.

The donkeys are quickly solidifying their brand as a group unqualified to run anything more complicated than a yard sale.
