4 Plagues Are Marching Across Asia Simultaneously: Coronavirus, African Swine Fever, H5N1 Bird Flu, & H1N1 Swine Flu

Authored by Michael Snyder via The Economic Collapse blog,

The coronavirus outbreak that is raging all over China right now has been making headlines on a daily basis all over the globe, and rightly so.  At this point we don’t know if it will ultimately become a horrifying global pandemic that will affect tens of millions of people, but what we do know is that the virus spreads very easily and the number of cases has been rising at an exponential rateMeanwhile, three other plagues have also been marching across Asia, and most people in the western world don’t even realize that this is happening.  What I am about to share with you in this article is quite chilling, and the months ahead will be very dark if these plagues continue to spread.

Long before we ever heard of this new coronavirus, African Swine Fever was devastating pork farms from one end of China to the other.  There is no vaccine for “pig ebola”, there is no cure, and once it hits a farm the only thing that can be done is to kill every single pig so that it won’t spread anywhere else.  But even though draconian measures have been implemented, it has just kept spreading, and at this point “about two-thirds of China’s swine herd has been lost”

Video of people fighting over pork at Chinese meat counters will likely become more common as the fallout from the African swine fever outbreak in China progresses.

Brett Stuart, president of the market research and analysis firm Global AgriTrends, estimates that about two-thirds of China’s swine herd has been lost to the disease and contrary to official government reports of recovery, more pigs are dying every day as ASF continues to spread.

Prior to this crisis, approximately half of all the pigs in the entire world lived in China, and they would usually slaughter about 700 million a year.  But now pork production has absolutely plummeted, and this is driving pork prices in China through the roof

In China itself, pork prices are at an all-time high at just under $300 per hundredweight and the country outbids Japan, which is usually the top bidder. Food inflation is soaring and some Chinese people have been unable to buy pork in six months.

Unfortunately, this insidious disease has also been devastating farms in many other nations all over the planet.  In particular, Cambodia, North Korea, South Korea, Vietnam and the Philippines have been hit particularly hard.

It has been estimated that one out of every four pigs in the entire world has already died, and this crisis is far from over.

Fortunately, African Swine Fever does not affect humans, but this new coronavirus seems perfectly suited to be transmitted from person to person.  Johns Hopkins has put up a map that is continually updated, and according to the latest official numbers there are now 14,637 cases and the death toll has risen to 305.  But by the time you read this article those numbers are likely to be even higher.

Of course many are extremely skeptical that the official numbers coming out of China are accurate, and this is something that I have written about repeatedly.  There have been multiple reports that indicate that China has been falsely categorizing the deaths of many of the victims to keep the death toll down, and it is also suspicious that so many corpses are being taken “directly to the crematorium”

Radio Free Asia (RFA) has tweeted a disturbing video on its Twitter account on Saturday morning detailing how those who died of coronavirus in Wuhan, the outbreak area in China, were loaded up on a bus and taken “directly to the crematorium.”

RFA said (in a translated tweet): “[Latest Situation of Wuhan Fifth Hospital] Some Wuhan citizens entered Wuhan Fifth Hospital on February 1st and found many patients who died of pneumonia. The corpses were packed directly to the crematorium. Paramedics are busy rescuing the dying patient.”

RFA’s video is in line with our report from Friday that said those who died of the deadly virus were hauled off to a crematorium in Wuhan by Chinese authorities.

At this point we don’t know how bad this outbreak will ultimately become, but we do know that the very first death outside of China has now been confirmed

The Philippine Department of Health said a 44-year-old Chinese man from Wuhan was admitted on Jan. 25 after experiencing a fever, cough, and sore throat. He developed severe pneumonia, and in his last few days, “the patient was stable and showed signs of improvement, however, the condition of the patient deteriorated within his last 24 hours resulting in his demise.”

The man’s 38-year-old female companion, also from Wuhan, also tested positive for the virus and remains in hospital isolation in Manila.

Meanwhile, there has been a very alarming resurgence of the H5N1 bird flu in China.

According to the Daily Mail, more than 17,000 chickens have been culled in an effort to keep this new outbreak from spreading further…

China has reportedly seen an outbreak of a ‘highly pathogenic’ strain of H5N1 bird flu which has already killed 4,500 chickens.

The outbreak was initially reported at a farm in Shaoyang city in the southern province of Hunan, south of the epicentre of the Coronavirus in Wuhan.

According to the Reuters report, Chinese authorities have already culled 17,828 poultry in the wake of the outbreak.

Unlike African Swine Fever, humans can become infected by the H5N1 bird flu.

And according to the World Health Organization, the mortality rate for human cases is approximately 60 percent.

So let us hope that this current outbreak remains limited to chickens.

Alarmingly, the H5N1 bird flu has also popped up at a facility in India

Authorities in an eastern Indian state will start culling chickens and destroying eggs from Tuesday to contain a bird flu virus of the H5N1 strain, a government statement said on Monday.

The samples collected from a poultry breeding and research farm of a veterinary college in Odisha state tested positive, the statement said.

We haven’t heard much about the H5N1 bird flu in recent years, but this is an extremely deadly disease, and so we will want to monitor these developments very carefully.

On top of everything else, the H1N1 swine flu is starting to spread once again.  In fact, more than 100,000 people in Taiwan “sought medical treatment for flu-like symptoms at hospitals across the country over the past week” and there have been 13 confirmed deaths

At a time when the world is panicking over a 2019-nCoV coronavirus outbreak, the H1N1 flu virus is actually posing a greater threat in Taiwan, claiming 13 lives in the country in just one week, according to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).

At a weekly meeting Friday, CDC Deputy Director-General Chuang Jen-hsiang (莊人祥) said 116,705 people sought medical treatment for flu-like symptoms at hospitals across the country over the past week, including 61 more confirmed flu cases.

Not too long ago, the H1N1 swine flu caused mass panic all over the globe, and I personally knew someone that was killed by it.

So the truth is that all of these outbreaks are very concerning.

And never before have we seen so many alarming outbreaks occur simultaneously.  Could it be possible that we have entered a period of time when mass pandemics are going to become “the new normal”?

Hopefully none of these current outbreaks will end up killing millions of people all over the globe.

But we have been warned for a long time about how vulnerable we are, and the experts assure us that it is just a matter of time before a mass pandemic brings death to every corner of the planet.

Ukraine’s Zelensky: Leaked Tapes Prove ‘Iran Knew from the Start’ It Shot Down Airliner

A television network in Ukraine published a transcript of a conversation on Sunday in which Iranian authorities appear aware that a missile shot down Ukrainian International Airlines (UIA) Flight 752, proving “Iran knew from the start” and lied about the plane’s demise, President Volodymyr Zelensky said.

Zelensky confirmed the authenticity of the transcript – in which an air traffic control official and the pilot of a plane witnessing the missile attack discuss the explosion that took the UIA flight down – and asserted that Kyiv was aware that Tehran was lying when it claimed “mechanical error” had resulted in a “crash.”

Zelensky’s remarks prompted the Iranian government to declare it would cease all cooperation with Ukraine on the probe into the Ukrainian plane’s explosion.

The partial transcript of the conversation appeared at Ukraine’s 1+1 television network. In it, the pilot of a plane later found to be in a location at the time of the call where he could have reasonably seen UIA Flight 752 explode asks the air traffic control tower what he is looking at, specifically describing it as “a series of lights like … is there a missile, is there something?”

“Dear engineer, it was an explosion. We saw a very big light there, I don’t really know what it was,” the pilot says. In the transcript, the air traffic controller then appears to reach out to the UIA flight but does not receive a response.

The transcript indicates evidence that eyewitnesses believed the flight fell to the ground after exploding, and the explosion appeared to be from a missile. Iranian authorities would be reasonably expected to investigate reports of a missile shooting down an airplane.

“The release of a new record of communications between the Tehran ATC dispatcher and the pilot of the Iranian airline, who saw the missile launch and hit the UIA flight, proves that the Iranian side knew from the very beginning that the plane had been hit by a missile, they’d already known this at the time it was downed,” Zelensky said on Sunday, according to the Ukrainian outlet UNIAN.

Zelensky confirmed Ukrainian intelligence officials procured the audio and that it was authentic. He also insisted that, despite urging Ukrainians not to consider “conspiracy theories” in the immediate aftermath of the plane falling, Kyiv never believed Iran’s claims that the plane fell by accident.

“We knew this couldn’t be the case. I talked about this, maybe not so openly. But, when we came to see parents and relatives of all victims, I said there had been no crew error, that we know this for sure,” Zelensky said, and continued:

We knew then this was a new jet and one of our best crews. We understood that the Iranians – we don’t know who exactly – sought to unlawfully defend themselves in such a way – to push in the media space the information that this had been a technical error. But we already had evidence that this couldn’t be the case.

Zelensky also revealed that Ukrainian investigators faced barriers to investigating the site as soon as they landed in Tehran, illustrating a frustrating landscape for his investigators to do their jobs.

“We were struck that on the first day they had no access anywhere. They couldn’t find many parts of the plane wreckage – there was no cockpit, no seats,” he noted. “And in such cases, by the seats it’s often possible to establish whether there was an explosion, since particles, parts of the device get stuck in soft tissue.”

Zelensky also said that Iran had finally offered to pay compensation to the families of the Ukrainians, mostly crew, who died on the flight, but that it was not enough and he would ask for more.

“They immediately offered US $80,000 to each victim’s family, but we didn’t agree to this. It seems to me this isn’t enough,” Zelesnky noted. “When a victim’s widow says her husband had been feeding the family, while she has no job and still has to get her kid to a university, US $80,000 is not enough. Although, of course, human life can’t be measured by any money, but we’ll be pushing for larger payout.”

He noted that, while Kyiv and Tehran negotiate compensation for victims, he will also insist on an international trial to ensure those responsible for shooting the plane down would appear in court. He did not specify which court he would take the case to; states can be parties at a venue like the International Court of Justice, but the individual responsible for shooting down the plane would have to appear at another venue like the International Criminal Court.

Iran responded to Zelensky’s interview by declaring it would no longer cooperate with Ukraine on investigating the missile attack.

“The technical investigation team of the Ukrainian airline crash, in a strange move, published the secret audio file of the communications of a pilot of a plane that was flying at the same time as the Ukrainian plane,” an Iranian official stated. “This action by the Ukrainians led to us not sharing any more evidence with them.”

UIA Flight 735 exploded and crashed in January, killing all 176 people on board. Iranian officials initially insisted that they had evidence of either human error in flying the plane or mechanical error taking down the engine, but later admitted – after bulldozing the crash site and refusing to hand over the plane’s black boxes – that a Russian Tor missile attack took the plane down shortly after it took off from Tehran’s international airport.

An Iranian soldier is believed to have fired the missile mistaking the plane for an incoming missile. The firing occurred as Iran launched a ballistic missile attack on two Iraqi airbases housing U.S. troops, intended as a response to President Donald Trump ordering an airstrike against Major General Qasem Soleimani. Soleimani, the head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Quds Force, organized Iran’s foreign terrorism strategy and was considered among the world’s most prolific terrorists. The IRGC is a U.S.-designated terrorist organization.

“That’s The Light Of A Missile!” Leaked Audio Proves Iran Knew Immediately Missile Hit Jetliner

"That’s The Light Of A Missile!" Leaked Audio Proves Iran Knew Immediately Missile Hit Jetliner

A new leaked recording of an audio log between an Iranian air-traffic controller and an Iranian pilot who witnessed the nearby downing of Ukraine International Airlines Flight 752 proves that authorities in Tehran knew immediately after the Jan.8 disaster what had actually happened, despite initially announcing it was an accident based on a likely mechanical failure. It further took days of denials before the Islamic Republic finally admitted the IRGC mistakenly launched missiles which destroyed the civilian aircraft, killing all 176 people aboard.

“A series of lights like… yes, it is missile, is there something?” the pilot is heard calling out in Farsi to the controller after witnessing bright flashes in the distance. “No, how many miles? Where?” the controller asks, according to the stunning audio transcript.

Ukraine’s 1+1 TV channel published the leaked audio and transcript Monday, which President Volodymyr Zelenskiy subsequently acknowledged as authentic, according to the AP. The head of the Iranian investigation team into the tragedy also said the recording is authentic.

Publicly available radar tracking data shows that the pilot of a nearby medium-sized Iranian Aseman Airlines jet was close enough to see the downing unfold

According to the transcript, the pilot insists to a confused controller: “It is the light of a missile.”

“Don’t you see anything anymore?” the controller asks.

“Dear engineer, it was an explosion. We saw a very big light there, I don’t really know what it was,” the pilot responds.

The controller then tries to no avail to establish contact with the Ukrainian Boeing 737.

Civilian officials within the Iranian government claimed they were initially unaware that an IRGC surface-to-air missile had shot the plane down, given the IRGC is only answerable to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

The doomed aircraft had crashed a mere eight minutes after takeoff from Tehran en route to the Ukrainian capital of Kiev.

Zelensky said of the new audio that it “proves that the Iranian side knew from the start that our plane was hit by a missile.”

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky, file image, via AFP/Getty

“Everything is audible there,” Zelensky told the Ukrainian broadcaster. “Everything is recorded.”

He added: “He says that ‘it seems to me that a missile is flying’, he says it in both Persian and English, everything is fixed there.”

The Iranian investigative team which had handed the recording over the Ukrainians condemned it’s being published to the world as “unprofessional”  given it was handed over as part of a confidential report, but then was quickly leaked to Ukrainian media.

Tennessee Lawmakers Move to End Gov. Bill Lee’s Resettling More Refugees

A group of Tennessee lawmakers is moving forward with legislation to end Republican Governor Bill Lee’s authority over refugee resettlement across the state.

For Fiscal Year 2020, President Donald Trump will continue cutting refugee admissions by reducing former President Barack Obama’s refugee inflow by at least 80 percent. This reduction would mean a maximum of 18,000 refugees can be resettled in the U.S. between October 1, 2019, and September 30, 2020. This is merely a numerical limit and not a goal federal officials are supposed to reach.

Coupled with the refugee reduction, Trump signed an executive order that gives localities, counties, and states veto power over whether they want to resettle refugees in their communities. For now, a Clinton-appointed judge has blocked implementation of the executive order.

Still, Tenessee lawmakers are moving forward with a plan to revoke Lee’s decision to continue resettling refugees across the state. State Rep. John Crawford (R) told local media that legislation is currently moving through the state House to ensure that the General Assembly has authority over whether the state resettles refugees and not the governor.

The legislation comes as Breitbart News exclusively reported how multiple Tennessee counties were adopting resolutions to denounce Lee for his decision to keep resettling refugees.

Thus far, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) is the only governor in the country to request that refugee resettlement be halted in his state. Meanwhile, 42 governors have asked the State Department to resettle more refugees in their states — including these 19 Republican governors:

  • Bill Lee of Tennessee
  • Mike DeWine of Ohio
  • Asa Hutchinson of Arkansas
  • Kim Reynolds of Iowa
  • Charlie Baker of Massachusetts
  • Gary Herbert of Utah
  • Doug Burgum of North Dakota
  • Chris Sununu of New Hampshire
  • Doug Ducey of Arizona
  • Eric Holcomb of Indiana
  • Kevin Stitt of Oklahoma
  • Pete Ricketts of Nebraska
  • Kristi Noem of South Dakota
  • Jim Justice of West Virginia
  • Mike Parson of Missouri
  • Brad Little of Idaho
  • Larry Hogan of Maryland
  • Mike Dunleavy of Alaska
  • Phil Scott of Vermont

Since 2005, nearly 860,000 refugees have been resettled across the U.S. — a population that is more than 80 times the size of Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Effectively, for the last 15 years, nearly 60,000 refugees have been resettled in the country, equivalent to adding the population of Pensacola, Florida, to the U.S. every year.

Refugee resettlement costs American taxpayers nearly $9 billion every five years, according to the latest research. Over the course of five years, an estimated 16 percent of all refugees admitted will need housing assistance paid for by taxpayers.

Limbaugh: CNN Analyst Goes To Trump Rally, Discovers ‘Unexpected Joy’

Via Daily Wire:

On Monday, America’s top-rated talk radio host Rush Limbaugh stunned the nation by announcing that he was recently diagnosed with advanced lung cancer, describing the day as “one of the most difficult” in recent memory for him because he had to inform both his staff and his faithful audience about the dire diagnosis. Despite having to deliver the hard news, Limbaugh didn’t let what he is facing get in the way of what he called “the source of my greatest satisfaction professionally, personally”: performing his duties as a beloved conservative host as “competently and as expertly” as he does “each and every day.”

While he dedicated one segment Monday to the announcement, for the rest of the show Rush addressed less personal and heavy topics, including what he said was one of his “favorite stories of the weekend.” The story, written by Politico chief Washington correspondent and CNN senior political analyst Ryan Lizza, addresses a quality among Donald Trump supporters — and conservatives in general — that Limbaugh has touched on in the past: “joy.”

“I had not been to a Trump rally since the 2016 campaign,” Lizza wrote in the piece, titled “The Unexpected Joy at a Trump Rally in Iowa” and published Friday. “And the first thing I noticed Thursday night when Donald Trump and Mike Pence spoke at Drake University in Des Moines was how much more joyous the event was for his supporters than what I remember from four years ago.”

MSNBC’s Theology Corner: Trump Enablers Belong to Satan, the Democrats with Jesus

In today’s outbreak of MSNBC Theology, legal analyst Maya Wiley lit into Sen. Lamar Alexander for allegedly sitting on Satan’s fence, and therefore belongs to Satan. Given the channel’s tilt, we can guess that the Pelosis and Schiffs are on the Jesus side, and Trump and his Republican enablers are with Satan.

Adam Schiff Warns Donald Trump Could Give Alaska to the Russians If Not Impeached

House Impeachment Manager and House Oversight Chairman Adam Schiff warned Monday that President Donald Trump might give Alaska to the Russians if he is not impeached.

Schiff disagreed with the president’s lawyers, who argued that Trump’s actions were not criminal and should thus not be considered impeachable.

He warned that they were setting a precedent that would only encourage Trump to pursue “unacceptable” actions if exonerated.

“Trump could offer Alaska to the Russians in exchange for support in the next election,” he said. “Or decide to move to Mar-a-Lago personally and let Jared Kushner run the country, delegating to him the decision whether to go to war.”

Schiff said Senate Republicans would create a “runaway presidency” if they failed to remove him from office.

“We have known since the day we brought these charges that the bar to conviction requiring a full two-thirds of the Senate may be prohibitively high,” he said. “And yet, the alternative is a runaway presidency and a nation whose elections are open to the highest bidder.”

Zerohedge Suspended On Twitter

Zerohedge Suspended On Twitter

First it was Facebook, then all of New Zealand; now Twitter has decided to suspend Zero Hedge.

Just as in the prior bans, which were eventually overturned, so in this case it is unclear what prompted Twitter’s abrupt censorship: the only notification we received from twitter was the following:

It is news to us that this website has "engaged in the targeted harassment of someone." What appears to have happened is that twitter received a complaint from the website best known for making cat slideshows, Buzzfeed, in which someone called Ryan Broderick writes that Zero Hedge  "has released the personal information of a scientist from Wuhan, China, falsely accusing them of creating the coronavirus as a bioweapon, in a plot it said is the real-life version of the video game Resident Evil."

A few points: the article referenced by Buzz Feed, "Is This The Man Behind The Global Coronavirus Pandemic?", is as the title implies, a question, and one which considering the huge import and massive significance of the Coronavirus pandemic has to be answered, especially since even the establishment’s Foreign Policy magazine writes bat soup, which is widely being cited and circulated by the mainstream press as the cause of the coronavirus breakout, is not the cause of the Wuhan virus. The widely read website Health.com also chimes in: "No, Coronavirus Was Not Caused by ‘Bat Soup‘". Meanwhile, Business Insider writes "Experts think the Wuhan coronavirus jumped from bats to snakes to people. Bats have been the source of at least 4 pandemics."

So considering that Peng Zhou, who currently works at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, is the Leader of the Bat Virus Infection and Immunization Group at the Institute, the question certainly is a reasonable one and, in a normal world, would demand an answer from the established media (assuming it wasn’t afraid of risking lucrative Chinese funding ) instead of leaving it to "fringe" websites.

The impetus to ask the question if the disease originated at the Wuhan Institute of Virology is especially poignant in light of social media reports such as this one which claims to "have evidence here that the outbreak originated from Wuhan P4 Research Institute. You need to find a truly patriotic journalist to publish it to the public. You can personally trust me to provide a complete chain of evidence. Thank you."

So did we have a right to ask the question if there is an alternative version for the emergence of the Coronavirus pandemic, especially with hundreds if not thousands of lives at stake? Absolutely.

Meanwhile, those who wonder if Dr. Zhou has any link to the possible emergence of the Coronavirus following years of experimenting with bats, we urge you to read our full article instead of relying on the hearsay of ideologically biased journalists.

Second, and contrary to the claims presented by Buzzfeed, we did not release any "personal information": Peng Zhou (周鹏) is a public figure, and all the contact information that we presented was pulled from his publicly posted bio found on a website at the Wuhan Institute of Virology which anyone with access to the internet can pull from the following URL: http://sourcedb.whiov.cas.cn/zw/rck/201705/t20170505_4783973.html, which is also the information we used.

So about Buzzfeed’s allegation, which was adopted by Twitter, that somehow we incited "targeted abuse", here is what we said:

Something tells us, if anyone wants to find out what really caused the coronavirus pandemic that has infected thousands of people in China and around the globe, they should probably pay Dr. Peng a visit.

To which we then added the information obtained from his own bio page on the Institute’s website:

"Or at least start with an email: Dr Peng can be reached at peng.zhou@wh.iov.cn, and his phone# is 87197311"

Are we then to understand that we have now reached a point the mere gathering of information, which our colleagues in the media may want to eventually do as thousands of people are afflicted daily by the Coronavirus, is now synonymous with "abuse and harassment"? According to Twitter, and certainly our competitors in the media, the answer is yes.

In any case, we have emailed Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, who incidentally happens to follow zerohedge…

… for the answer. If we get one, we will promptly share it with our readers. We aren’t holding our breath, however, as we realize how important it is to today’s media giants not to ruffle too many Chinese feathers or lack losing access to the Chinese market. After all, who can forget the following report from the New York Times about another of our media competitors that several years ago was itself engaged in "doxing" us (yet oddly wasn’t suspended by Twitter):

The chairman of Bloomberg L.P. said in a speech here on Thursday that the company should have reconsidered articles that deviated from its core of coverage of business news, because they jeopardized the huge sales potential for its products in the Chinese market.

The comments by the chairman, Peter T. Grauer, represented the starkest acknowledgment yet by a senior Bloomberg executive that the ambitions of the news division should be assessed in the context of the business operation, which provides the bulk of the company’s revenue. They also signaled which of those considerations might get priority.

Acknowledging the vast size of the Chinese economy, the world’s second-biggest after that of the United States, Mr. Grauer, said, “We have to be there.”

“We have about 50 journalists in the market, primarily writing stories about the local business and economic environment,” Mr. Grauer said in response to questions after a speech at the Asia Society. “You’re all aware that every once in a while we wander a little bit away from that and write stories that we probably may have kind of rethought — should have rethought.”

Bloomberg, the financial data and news company, relies on sales of its terminals, which are ubiquitous on bankers’ desks around the world, for about 82 percent of its $8.5 billion in revenue. But sales of those terminals in China declined after the company published an article in June 2012 on the family wealth of Xi Jinping, at that time the incoming Communist Party chief. After its publication, officials ordered state enterprises not to subscribe to the service. Mr. Grauer did not specifically mention the article about Mr. Xi or any other articles.

“Being in China is very much a part of our long-term strategy and will continue to be so going forward,” Mr. Grauer said. “It occupies a lot of our thinking — Dan Doctoroff, our C.E.O.; me; Mike; and other members of our senior team.”

Some current and former Bloomberg journalists, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said they had hoped the controversy surrounding Bloomberg’s China reporting would prompt the company to reaffirm its support for investigative efforts. Mr. Grauer’s comments were met with dismay, particularly because he is regarded as close to Mr. Bloomberg and would be unlikely to voice views that were not broadly accepted at the top of the company.

Unlike Bloomberg, or anyone else in the mainstream media, we don’t plan on "rethinking" any of our articles just to curry favor with the powerful and we certainly will continue our own "investigative efforts", even if it means we lose some of our inbound traffic.

Race-Baiters Ruined As Poll Shows Americans’ Satisfaction With Race-Relations Jumped Since Trump Elected

Race-Baiters Ruined As Poll Shows Americans’ Satisfaction With Race-Relations Jumped Since Trump Elected

Well this doesn’t fit the mainstream media narrative…

In a poll reported by Gallup’s ‘Mood of the Nation’ this week, it turns out that Americans’ satisfaction with race relations has jumped 14% since Trump’s inauguration.

As The Daily Caller’s David Krayden notes, the numbers on race relations seemingly fly in the face of rhetoric from progressives who not only routinely label the president as a racist and is actively or passively promoting a white supremacist agenda. Democratic New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker has called the president “worse than a racist” while CNN legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin labelled Trump a racist for calling Democratic California Rep. Maxine Waters a “low IQ individual.”

When Trump criticized the infrastructure in Baltimore and said the city was “rodent-infested” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called the comments “racist.”

Trump has consistently noted that unemployment for black and Hispanic Americans has reached an all-time low and that minorities are benefiting from the economic boom the country is experiencing.

Additionally, as Trump enters his re-election year, Americans are more positive on eight key issues than they were just before he took office in January 2017.

  • Gallup records double-digit increases in public satisfaction with the nation’s economy, security from terrorism, military strength and the state of race relations.

  • Satisfaction is also up by between six and nine points on crime, the position of blacks and other racial minorities, the distribution of income and wealth, and the opportunity for a person to get ahead through hard work.

Gallup has measured Americans’ satisfaction with most of these issues each year since 2001, except from 2009 to 2011, when a more limited number of issues were rated or the question was not asked.

Americans’ average satisfaction rating for the 27 issues Gallup  has tracked consistently since 2001 is now 47%. This is up three points from a year ago and is the highest since the January 2005 poll.

Today’s average satisfaction is roughly on par with the level of the early 2000s. Only in 2002 was the average for this metric substantially higher than it is today. The average 53% recorded that year reflected heightened satisfaction as Americans were in full "rally around the flag" mode shortly after the 9/11 attacks.

One reason average satisfaction isn’t higher now than in 2001 is that satisfaction has since declined sharply on matters related to the performance of the federal government: the system of government and how well it works (down 25 points); the role the U.S. plays in world affairs (-18); and the size and power of the federal government (-12).

All of which suggests President Trump’s upbeat view of the nation’s economy, military strength, economic opportunity and overall quality of life will likely resonate with Americans when he delivers his State of the Union address to Congress next week.

Sadly, for one group of Americans, the address may not go down so well, as it appears Al Sharpton and his race-baiting cronies will need to work harder to divide the nation…
