Report: Snapchat Encouraged More Than 400,000 Users to Register to Vote in ‘Key Battleground States’

Snapchat reportedly encouraged more than 400,000 users to register to vote for the upcoming midterm elections, with “much of the activity” in “key battleground states.”

According to the New York Times, Snap, the company behind Snapchat, “helped more than 400,000 users register to vote during a recent two-week period,” proving even more influential than musician Taylor Swift, who also prompted over 166,000 people to register.

“Much of the activity, the company said, was in key battleground states like Texas, Florida and Georgia,” the Times reported, explaining that Snapchat “pushed people 18 and over to register by adding a button about doing so on each user’s profile page,” and “sent video messages to all of those users urging them to register.”

In a statement, Snap’s Global Head of Public Policy, Jennifer Stout, declared, “There is no more powerful form of self-expression than the ability to vote… The numbers we’ve seen have been fantastic and have shown us that our users have been some of the most engaged communities out there.”

Snapchat, which employs former CNN correspondent Peter Hamby as its head of news, has previously proven very popular with Democratic party candidates for advertising to a younger audience, with Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, Martin O’Malley all utilizing the platform in 2016.

Most major Big Tech companies launched initiatives to encourage their users to register to vote for the midterms, including Google, Facebook, and Twitter.

Right on Cue… In NYT Op-Ed, Soros’ Son Blames Trump and “Demonization of Political Opponents” For Bomb Packages

Right on Cue… In NYT Op-Ed, Soros’ Son Blames Trump and “Demonization of Political Opponents” For Bomb Packages

George Soros, Alexander Soros

Several mail bombs were sent to Democrat leaders Wednesday–none of which detonated.

The Secret Service announced that suspicious packages were sent to Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.

George Soros, NY Governor Cuomo, former AG Eric Holder, Rep. Maxine Waters were also sent suspicious packages.

Right on cue, George Soros’ son, Alexander Soros penned a New York Times op-ed blaming President Trump for the mail bombs.

Alexander Soros sure is a fast writer and the editorial board over at the New York Times also worked at lightning speed!

Soros penned a NY Times op-ed titled, “The Hate That is Consuming Us” – “Bombs sent to my father, George Soros, and to former President Obama and Hillary Clinton are a result of our politics of demonizing opponents.”

Alexander Soros via the New York Times:

On Monday afternoon an explosive device was delivered to my father’s home north of New York City. An alert member of our staff recognized the threat and called the police. Fortunately, the authorities were able to detonate the device safely. On Wednesday, the Secret Service said it had intercepted similar devices sent to the offices of former President Barack Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

We are all grateful that no one was injured, and grateful to those who kept us safe. But the incident was profoundly disturbing — as a threat not just to the safety of our family, neighbors, colleagues and friends, but also to the future of American democracy.

My family is no stranger to the hostilities of those who reject our philosophy, our politics and our very identity. My father grew up in the shadow of the Nazi regime in Hungary. My grandfather secured papers with false names so that they could survive the onslaught against Budapest’s Jews; he helped many others do the same. After the war, as the Communists took power, my father escaped to London, where he studied at the London School of Economics before embarking on what ultimately became a hugely successful career in finance.

Alexander Soros blamed the mail bombs on political demonization.

Now we have attempted bomb attacks. While the responsibility lies with the individual or individuals who sent these lethal devices to my family home and Mr. Obama’s and Ms. Clinton’s offices, I cannot see it divorced from the new normal of political demonization that plagues us today.

Soros then told the readers to go vote in order to stop the politicians (Republicans) who are responsible for undermining our democracy–HOW CONVENIENT!

We must find our way to a new political discourse that shuns the demonization of all political opponents. A first step would be to cast our ballots to reject those politicians cynically responsible for undermining the institutions of our democracy. And we must do it now, before it is too late.

Klavan: Democrats Say Trump Is Making Caravan About Race And Fear. It’s The Other Way Around.

The Left is making a big deal about President Trump’s vow to not let the migrant caravan into the United States, saying the President is using it as a way to make the midterm elections about race and fear. But is he really? Or is the left-wing media actually doing that? The Daily Wire’s own Andrew Klavan broke it down on Tuesday’s episode of “The Andrew Klavan Show.”

“This narrative about race, it’s all the Democrats have,” he said. “The economy is doing great, our foreign policy is really working, good judges who will obey the law are being appointed. Trump is doing a fantastic job as President of the United States – no matter what his personal flaws – he’s doing a good job.”

He continued: “The only thing they’ve got is this narrative about race, and the effect that it has is really pernicious, it really shapes people’s minds in ugly ways and it does it even if you fight back. Especially if you fight back by calling them hypocrites, because then you’re buying into the narrative. If they say ‘oh you’re a racist you white man!’ and you say ‘what? You called me a white man, you’re a racist!’ That’s buying into the narrative that we should be looking at each other in terms of the color of our skin, it’s like looking at the world through a pane of glass, it’s pointing out that only allows you to see people by the color of their skin. But what if we take that pane of glass away, what do we see then?”

Klavan explained, “I want to talk about this in terms of this ‘caravan’ they call it, or ‘invasion’ if you will, of migrants coming our way. A lot of them from Honduras, now they say it’s almost 7000 strong, they say people are joining this. I don’t want to join in in the kind of nasty right-wing tone where we talk about ‘oh I hate these people.’”

He added, “A lot of them are probably refugees, a lot of them are probably running away. But the rule about a refugee is the first free country you come to is the one you have to apply for refugee status, you can’t walk through Mexico and come to the United States and say ‘oh I’m desperate to get out,’ because if you were desperate you would have applied for refugee status in Mexico. So none of this stuff is legitimate, it was arranged.”

This narrative about race, it’s all the Democrats have. The economy is doing great, our foreign policy is really working, good judges who will obey the law are being appointed, Trump is doing a fantastic job as President of the United States – no matter what his personal flaws – he’s doing a good job. The only thing they’ve got is this narrative about race, and the effect that it has is really pernicious, it really shapes people’s minds in ugly ways and it does it even if you fight back. Especially if you fight back by calling them hypocrites, because then you’re buying into the narrative. If they say “oh you’re a racist you white man!” and you say “what? But what if we take that pane of glass away, what do we see then?

I want to talk about this in terms of this “caravan” they call it, or “invasion” if you will, of migrants coming our way. A lot of them from Honduras, now they say it’s almost 7000 strong, they say people are joining this. I don’t want to join in in the kind of nasty right-wing tone where we talk about “oh I hate these people.” A lot of them are probably refugees, a lot of them are probably running away. But the rule about a refugee is the first free country you come to is the one you have to apply for refugee status, you can’t walk through Mexico and come to the United States and say “oh I’m desperate to get out”, because if you were desperate you would have applied for refugee status in Mexico. So none of this stuff is legitimate, it was arranged. There’s a piece in The Wall Street Journal comparing it to the Mariel boatlift that was in 1980, if you ever saw the movie “Scarface” with Al Pacino, that’s about the Mariel boatlift. Essentially Castro emptied his prisons and poured these people into boats, and they all came over and we wanted to take them in, we wound up with all these people, some of whom were really bad guys, and Miami paid the price. If you watch that movie “Scarface” that’s what it’s about, with the usual Oliver Stone left-wing nonsense thrown in.

This caravan was organized by a guy named Bartolo Fuentes who is a communist, he’s from the Libre party. Libre is the party of the former President Manuel Zelaya who was an ally of Venezuela and Cuba, and is basically a red, and he tried to stay in office to override the Honduran constitution to remain in office despite a term limit, the Honduran Congress, his own party, the Supreme Court and the Catholic Church all opposed him, and he finally was removed by the military and never returned to power in spite of the fact that someone tried to keep him in power, namely the Barack Obama administration, but he didn’t make it so he organized this stuff as a way of getting at us, as a way of getting at America. It then got out of control, it got bigger than he thought it was, he was just bringing together disparate people who wanted to get out, but that means that someone is funding this. We don’t know who it was, we don’t know who is paying for these people to come together but someone is. Here’s what our evil President is saying about people who try to get into this country illegally:

Barack Obama: “We simply cannot allow people to pour into the United States undetected, undocumented, unchecked, and circumventing the line of people who are waiting patiently, diligently, and lawfully to become immigrants in this country.”

Okay, that was actually the evil President, what I meant was Trump, I can understand I confused you on that one, but let’s get Trump on the caravan:

Donald Trump: “We have been giving so much money, but when we asked them to keep their people in their country they’re unable to do it, it’s called make America great again…Take your camera, go into the middle and search, you’re gonna find MS-13, you’re gonna find Middle Eastern, you’re gonna find everything, and guess what? We’re not allowing them in our country. We want safety.”

Here is the New York Times, a former newspaper, reporting on what Trump is doing – and this is indicative of all reporting, it’s not just the Times, it is all the left-wing reporters that are doing this: “Trump and GOP candidates escalate race and fear as election ploys”. Now did you hear him mention race in there? Did he say a word about the race of the people coming over? No, he didn’t. More from the article: “President Trump on Monday sharply intensified a Republican campaign to frame the midterm elections as a battle over immigration and race, issuing a dark and factually baseless warning that unknown Middle Easterners were marching toward the American border with Mexico.”

First of all, Sarah Sanders said that at least 10 Middle Easterners come in almost every day or every week, I can’t remember which she said, but that’s not the point. Obviously this has been a worry ever since 9/11, that terrorists would use our open borders, our unprotected borders, to slip people in. There has never been a terrorist attack committed by an illegal immigrant, one guy who came in I think from Somalia did go up to Canada and try something, but that has not been a thing, but that doesn’t mean that that’s not something we should worry about. So when they say it’s factually baseless, they should take Trump’s advice and go down there – they’re a newspaper, go down and find out if what he’s telling is the truth. If they’re gonna tell us there are no criminals – if they come across the border they are criminals, so that’s ridiculous, we know that criminals come in. For research on writing my crime novels I have visited the federal prison here and state prisons, and let me tell you something, a lot of the people in those prisons are illegal. The fact that there’s no factual basis is just nonsense, and what has it got to do with race?

So Venezuela was behind the great Honduras migrant caravan all along?

According to Vice President Mike Pence, Honduras’s president, Juan Orlando Hernández, told him that the illegal migrant caravan heading from his country through Mexico on to the U.S. is the work of Chavista Venezuela, with that country’s oil cash being employed to destabilize both countries.

Here’s what Breitbart reported, citing an interview with the Washington Post’s Bob Costa:

Vice President Mike Pence on Tuesday said Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernández told him that the migrant caravan marching toward the U.S.-Mexico border is “financed by Venezuela.” …

The Vice President then revealed that Hernández told him that “leftist groups” from the Central American country organized the caravan, “financed by Venezuela” to “challenge our sovereignty, challenge our border.”

That’s quite an equation-changer, and it squares with what I argued yesterday, here and here:

Who is it?  Is it Soros, the hedge fund leftist billionaire of chaos who vowed to shell out $500 million for migrants a few years back?  Democrats, the same people who had tens of millions to pay for a fake dossier in a bid to win an election and who have lately been struggling to win the Latino vote?  Or is it, as I suspect, Chavista Venezuelan oil money, given the Chavistas’ stated desire to flood America with indigent migrants (which has been around as a threat ever since Hugo Chávez taunted the U.S. over is border in the 2000s) as a means of spreading its revolution northward?  The Chavista ties of the caravan’s front-group organizers, Pueblo Sin Fronteras, as well as its known Chavez-supporting Honduran ringleaders, are rather obvious.

The one clue we have starts with the two governments of Guatemala and Honduras, both of which have conservative, anti-Chavista governments.  They also have disgustingly rabid left-wing oppositions, the kind of people who openly admire Hugo Chávez and his utterly failed socialist revolution.  They like Cuba’s government, too.  They are rabid left-wingers, and they seek above all to destabilize and topple the countries of their origin in order to see those countries join their heroes.  They can’t get elected anymore, so this is what they do.

Remember Honduras in 2009?  The good Honduran people and their legislators rose up to throw out a Chavista pawn, Manuel Zelaya, who wanted to make himself dictator for life, as Chávez did.  That was the guy who got thrown out of the presidency by troops in his pajamas (actually, he was naked when he was rousted for bed, but the press liked the pajama story) and wore a cowboy hat.  He then got the whole hemisphere, via the Organization of American States, to condemn the Hondurans and sanction their country (making Chávez very empowered), just because they refused to be ruled forever by a communist.  ”Better a year of sanctions than 20 years of Chávez,” as one of the freedom-loving Hondurans said.  The Hondurans, led by the honorable Roberto Micheletti, toughed it out, suffering Obama administration sanctions so their country could be free.

There are still all kinds of problems left in Honduras, but the big one is the presence of radical Chavista leftists and their liberation theology church- and NGO-connected sidekicks who are still stirring the pot, offering free stuff as a substitute for an economy and making things ungovernable.  Their ultimate aim, now that their name stinks with voters after the 2009 fiasco, is to destabilize what little is left of battered Honduras in the name of la revolución by force or chaos or whateversince they can’t get elected.  What better way than to launch an unpopular migrant march to put pressure from President Trump on their governments as well as teach gringo a lesson that his borders mean nothing?

We do have a concrete clue in how the caravan was set up: with an offer of free stuff on the television and by, sure enough, one Bartolo Fuentes, an out-of-work politician and “journalist” known for being a left-wing supporter of Zelaya and Chávez.

According to the Wall Street Journal’s editorial page:

A Mariel replay now seems to be coming from Honduras.  Though the details are murky, we do know that former Honduran congressman Bartolo Fuentes of the left-wing Libre Party has admitted to organizing this caravan.

Libre is the party of former president Manuel Zelaya, an ally of Venezuela and Cuba who in 2009 tried to override the Honduran constitution to remain in office despite a term limit.  The Honduran congress, his own party, the Supreme Court, the national ombudsman and the Catholic Church opposed his power grab.  He was removed by the military and never returned to power despite the efforts of the Obama Administration.

But Mr. Zelaya remains active in politics.  While center-right President Juan Orlando Hernández has encouraged Hondurans on the journey to return home and even has offered them assistance, Mr. Zelaya is egging them on.

In a press release last week, he accused Mr. Hernández of a “submissive and lackey attitude” toward “the arrogant position of the empire” and criticized Mr. Hernández’s efforts to “deepen failed economic policies” like privatization.  The opposition is now calling for street protests with a threat that if Mr. Hernández does not step down, the migration wave will continue.

Under pressure, he now denies that he offered any free stuff and says he has no Venezuela ties, but that seems to be belied by the television reporting.  Note also his marked use of Chavista buzzwords in his speech – calling the U.S. “the empire.”  Only Hugo Chávez used to do that.

The president of Honduras knew what the game was, which is why he called up the president of Guatemala and asked him to remove the guy.  The president of Guatemala, Jimmy Morales, believed him; busted the guy; and shipped him back home to Honduras, where he promptly initiated U.S. flag-burning at the U.S. embassy.

The claims of Fuentes that he offered no support to would-be migrants are rather belied by the fact that migrants were first filmed taking paychecks, as seen on Twitter.  Then there’s the fact that trucks are taking the migrants northward, and trucks are expensive.  Someone is paying for that.  What’s more, migrants are abandoning expensive baby strollers to get on those trucks.  Very poor people tend to be reluctant to abandon expensive things without compensation.

Meanwhile, let’s go take a look at the U.S. leftists, Pueblo Sin Fronteras, who are on this side of things, and who have a base in Tijuana, on the border with San Diego, which is where the migrants are now heading, despite the fact that it greatly increases the length of their journey.  The base is there, so that’s where they are going.  PSF has done previous stunts of this kind, notably last April, and its website is loaded with Chavista propaganda, as I noted earlier.  It’s certainly tied to this effort.

Chávez himself, when he was alive, had a thing for using migrants to destabilize the U.S. and once said he wanted to head for the U.S. border to encourage just that.  Now, it appears, la lucha se continúa with his remaining minions, and their animating motives are to destabilize Central American countries, not just the U.S.  Venezuela is in bad shape, and it seems likely that those in power there would not have that much money to throw around at international adventurism, but they’ve also got quite a bit of malice toward the U.S. for its sanctions on Venezuela’s top officials and a desperate desire to seem relevant, what with all the news about the country’s own migrant outpouring.  Could the Venezuelan honchos cook something like this up and finance it?  Motive-wise, they could; infrastructure-wise, with all the lefty activists out there, they could; and money-wise, it’s not out of the question.  Let’s just remind ourselves that the presidents of Honduras and Guatemala have reason to believe it.

Texas Democrats still mailing voter registration forms to people who died in the 1980s

Bring out yer dead! And get them registered to vote. Or at least that seems to be the message coming from Texas Democrats this month. The Dallas CBS outlet reported this week that Texas Democrats have been aggressively mailing out voter registration forms to people all across the state. Nothing wrong with that, of course, except that some of the intended recipients are not actually eligible to vote because their current status includes the phrase “six feet under.” One woman named Ola Allen was the unfortunate recipient of no less than three of these forms, leaving her in an emotionally distressed state.

Allen received a voter registration application in the mail addressed to her husband, Eroy. He died nearly three years ago. She also received an application for her mother who died two years ago.

Allen initially chalked it up to an honest mistake, but then she received another voter registration application. This one Allen said was inexcusable and hurtful. It was addressed to her daughter Karen.

“I just set it down because I lost it. I really lost it,” Allen explained.

Karen is Allen’s youngest daughter. She died when she was 21 years old in 1989.

We should be clear in pointing out that simply sending out a voter registration form isn’t illegal, even if it “accidentally” goes to a dead person. Both parties do this, though the batch examined for this article was sent out by the state Democratic Party. But if someone else takes any of those forms, fills them out and sends them in then there is a crime taking place. We already covered the ring of voter fraud recently exposed in Texas where people were filling out ballots for people, tricking them into signing them and sending them in. This little glitch probably makes that job a lot easier.

A spokesperson for the Democratic Party told CBS that the mailing of all these registration forms was part of an “unprecedented investment to provide eligible Texans with the opportunity to vote.“ I agree. If you’re sending out registration forms to three dead people in a single household, that’s pretty unprecedented, alright.

The Texas Secretary of State’s office claims that there’s little danger of voter fraud from this mess because they take steps to prevent it. The only “step” they specify is cross-referencing the returned registration forms with the Social Security Administration’s list of people who have died. That’s a sensible precaution and it no doubt weeds out some of the errors, but it’s not an acceptable level of real security.

We’ve covered this here before, but the database they’re relying on is the Social Security Death Index (SSDI). The problem is that their Full Death Master File (yes, that’s a creepy name) is in no way comprehensive. Submissions of death records to the file come from a mixed bag of sources and it’s totally voluntary. As of a couple of years ago, the index contained the names of 89 million people who have died since 1936. That’s not even remotely close to the actual total. Plus, they have problems with accuracy. An audit conducted in 2011 found that the file incorrectly listed 23,000 people as dead in a two-year period.

If you want to get this aspect of clean voter roles and suppression of potential voter fraud under control we have a larger problem to address. We’re very good at recording births in the United States, but we are abysmal at recording when they die. This leads to fraud problems in Social Security and other entitlement programs, but now we see how it can affect voting as well. Until we find a better way to track who is dead and who is alive at any given time we’ll be chasing our tails on this subject.

Return Address Found On Suspicious Packages Belongs To Well-Known Democrat

Criminal with a bad sense of humor? Or loony toon who actually things police would believe that?

Via Daily Wire:

Four suspicious packages sent to prominent Democrats – and CNN – all contained the same return address, law enforcement officials said.

Suspicious packages were intercepted before they reached former President Barack Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Another package was discovered in CNN’s New York City bureau mailroom. A fourth package was discovered at Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s (D-FL) Sunrise, FL, office.

The packages all had one odd thing in common: The return addresses belonged to Wasserman Schultz, law enforcement officials told NBC.

Watch – Democrat Sen. Heitkamp Exposed by Staffers: ‘She’s Going to Be Super Liberal’

A new Project Veritas video released on Tuesday night shows Sen. Heidi Heitkamp’s (D-ND) staff exposing her as being far-left, despite her efforts to appeal to voters as a more moderate candidate.

“After the election, if and when she gets elected she’s going to be super liberal,” said Jesse Overton, Heitkamp’s digital director. “It’s an election year for her. She’s being careful about pissing people off, and it’s funny, she said basically like, after the election, if and when she gets re-elected, she’s going to be super liberal.”

Staffers in Heitkamp’s Fargo, North Dakota campaign office admitted to taking down a poster of Obama “when the press comes.” The staffers continued by explaining that Obama’s image is not a good look for Heitkamp as they attempt to portray her as a moderate.

Heitkamp staffers in the undercover James O’Keefe video also said that Heitkamp opposes building a wall along the southern border.

Prescott Robinson, a Heitkamp staff assistant, says, “I think that if we had a Democratic Senate, she would vote for more policies that you see more Democrats support.”

A new Gray Television poll released Monday showed Heitkamp trailing her Republican opponent Rep. Kevin Cramer by 16 points.

Fifty-sex percent of likely voters said they intend to vote for Cramer, while only 40 percent are in support of Heitkamp.

Strategic Research Associated surveyed 650 likely voters between Oct. 12 and 19 for the poll listed above. Respondents were contacted by live interviewers, with 50 percent of calls completed on a landline telephone and 50 percent completed over a cellular telephone. The final results are weighted based on analysis of available electoral and commercial data.

The margin of error for the complete sample is +/- 3.84 percentage points, with higher margins of error for any sub-group.

Calling all Christians from the road to the midterms!

Hello Folks. Lloyd Marcus here checking in from Nevada. Weeks ago, my wife Mary and I flew to the mid west to join the Conservative Campaign Committee to campaign for various Republican house and senate candidates. Our team spends tons of hours on the road traveling in an SUV.

After eight hours on the road, we had to pull over on the side of the highway because our SUV malfunctioned an hour outside our Nevada destination.  The thought of waiting for a tow truck was not fun.  We prayed for God’s help.  Our vehicle was fine, and we made it safely to our hotel.  Praise God!

This is crunch time, folks.  Our CCC team is extremely busy monitoring and analyzing how best to impact each race.

I believe that the Democrats’ insidiously evil slander of Brett Kavanaugh was their jump-the-shark-moment.  Democrats’ assault on Kavanaugh was so over the top that it finally opened the eyes of many Americans about leftists’ willingness to destroy anyone who threatens their anti-Christian, anti-innocent baby, and anti-America agenda.

With less than two weeks before the midterm elections, it is all hands on deck.  I am pleasantly surprised that even Christian TV shows are telling viewers that if they do not want the Democratic Party angry mob in power, they had better vote Republican.

President Trump is doing an awesome job at his rallies firing up Americans to vote.  That is wonderful.  But folks, we still must follow through, getting every registered Republican voter to vote.

American historian Dr. David Barton gave these shocking stats.  In off-year elections since 1980, only 67% of Americans are registered to vote.  Only 39% actually vote.  That means that only 26% of adults will vote in this election.  The winning candidates will be selected by half of that, which is 13%.  Since 1980, only one out of eight Americans chooses our U.S. senators, representatives, and governors.

Dr. Barton shared about a northwest Arkansas woman who opposed Obama’s mandate that boy and girl students share the same locker rooms and restrooms.  She ran for the school board.  In a town of 40,000, she won with the majority of 35 votes.  Every vote counts, folks.

Dr. Barton said if the 72% of Americans who profess to be Christians would vote, we could turn our country around in a heartbeat.

Folks, our country is at a tipping point.  It is disturbing that over 70% of college students believe that socialism is morally superior to capitalism.  Our youths have been indoctrinated since kindergarten into believing that America was founded upon evil and is the greatest source of evil on the planet.

Trump is a gift from God, providing a remarkable opportunity to get our nation back on track – restored as the shining city on a hill.  Trump is also touting and standing up for the goodness of America.  Evil forces will seek to stop our nation’s restoration if the Democrats take control of the House.  We Christians and patriots have a responsibility to vote.

Our PAC is funded by individuals around the country rather than major donors.

Candidly, as Mary and I travel the country with the Conservative Campaign Committee, we truly believe we are on a mission from God!  We feel happy, grateful, and blessed to be a part of restoring America.

When ‘schools, not battleships’ gets you killed

History repeats itself.  Those who do not take its lessons must learn them all over again, and painfully.  The current tumult facing President Trump is vastly more complex than the headlines suggest, and the consequences of failing to heed the lessons of the past will bring us the same degree of pain – and risk – as were heaped upon the United States during the tenure of President Franklin Roosevelt in the 1930s and ’40s.

The Pacific War 1941-1945, by John Costello, might more aptly be titled with the years 1841-1945, because it grippingly traces the roots of that war to the complex and convoluted factors that produced it.  Economics and profiteering, statesmanship and politics, military courage and careerist cowardice – all played roles in the weaving of a fabric that eventually unraveled into worldwide tragedy.

Here is an excerpt:

The President’s State of the Union message in January 1936 was full of gloom.  Japan had walked out of the Naval Limitation talks; Italian troops were marching through Ethiopia and the Nazis had assassinated the Austrian Chancellor, prompting Roosevelt’s warning[.] … [H]e was asking Congress for the biggest naval appropriations in history for “prudent” self-defense.  A storm of opposition was organized by isolationists and pacifists.  A million signatures were collected by the People’s Mandate to End War; 50,000 veterans staged a “March for Peace” in front of the White House; and children organized a classroom strike to demand “schools, not battleships. (p. 50)

President Trump must navigate the nation through waters no less treacherous than those that led to Pearl Harbor and the nuclear bombing of Japan.

We are in a world where terrorist nations are arming with nuclear weapons at our expense!  Armies of foreigners are marching toward our borders, demanding access not only to our land, but to our treasury and its generous programs of welfare.  Undoubtedly, hundreds of American citizens will be killed, raped, or otherwise traumatized by the worst of these aliens, who will themselves be protected by sanctuary cities.  Insanity on a massive scale has seized the minds of something like half the population.

It boggles the mind as to how anyone could manage an entire nation during such an era.  We can be grateful that the president’s mind is not easily boggled.  He has seen clearly through the smokescreens with which the left is obscuring the dangers.

In the 1930s, there were those who clearly predicted the onset of the Second World War.  Harold B. Rugg wrote about it in 1932, and before him, there were numerous statesmen and generals who grimly warned that if preparations were not made, thousands would needlessly die.

Today, we are being warned that if we do not secure our borders, make citizenship mean something, and restore patriotic devotion, then we will literally lose our nation.  Many scoff at such warnings, but too many of the scoffers look forward with fondness to the day when America will collapse and socialist authoritarians will rule our lives.

“Schools, not battleships” sounds so sensible and moral.  While those words were being spoken, the Imperial Japanese Navy was on its way to our shores.  Millions were soon to die.

China, Russia, North Korea, and Iran Set For Electronic Pulse Attacks on U.S.

China, Russia, North Korea, and Iran are preparing nuclear electronic pulse attacks from space in a future conflict to cripple the U.S. military and plunge the United States into darkness, according to a declassified study.

"The United States critical national infrastructure faces a present and continuing existential threat from combined-arms warfare, including cyber and manmade electromagnetic pulse (EMP) attack, and natural EMP from a solar superstorm," says a recently published report from the congressional Commission to Assess the Threat to the United States from Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) Attack."

Once largely a concern of a Cold War surprise attack from Russia to shut down American nuclear forces communications, the spread of nuclear weapons has increased the danger of disruptive EMP attack from a nuclear burst in the upper atmosphere.

"Within the last decade, newly nuclear-armed adversaries, including North Korea, have been developing the ability and threatening to carry out an EMP attack against the U.S.," the report said.

"Such an attack would give countries that have only a small number of nuclear weapons the ability to cause widespread, long-lasting damage to U.S. critical national infrastructures, to the United States itself as a viable country, and to the survival of a majority of its population."

The report, containing redactions requested by the Pentagon, was written by William R. Graham, EMP commission chairman who is regarded as one of the foremost experts on EMP. Graham helped discover the phenomenon after a 1962 U.S. atmospheric nuclear test near Hawaii.

EMP is a burst of electromagnetic energy from a solar storm or nuclear blast capable of disabling or destroying electronic devices over wide areas.

The report is based on information up to June 2017 and reveals that both Russia and China are well advanced in developing plans for using EMP as part of advanced warfighting concepts that combine the use of nuclear and non-nuclear EMP with cyber and other electronic warfare capabilities.

The report also warns of vulnerabilities to the U.S. electric grid from both a nuclear blast EMP and a devastating solar storm, like the 1859 Carrington event that generated a widespread natural EMP that if it occurred today would have caused massive blackouts to electric grids and other life-sustaining critical infrastructures.

A massive solar storm narrowly missed hitting the planet in July 2012 that the report said would have caused a long-term electrical blackout worldwide with potentially catastrophic consequences.

"Recurrence of another Carrington Event is inevitable," the report said.

Regarding nuclear EMP, the report states that China, Russia, and Iran consider the use of high-altitude nuclear blasts as "sixth generation warfare" that could cripple the ability of U.S. military to wage war using advanced electronic systems for intelligence, navigation, and precision weapons guidance.

"Nuclear EMP attack is part of the military doctrines, plans, and exercises of Russia, China, North Korea, and Iran for a revolutionary new way of warfare against military forces and civilian critical infrastructures by cyber, sabotage, and EMP," the report says.

Because damage is limited to electronic components and systems, enemy leaders do not consider an EMP attack as an act of nuclear warfare that would be bring U.S. nuclear retaliation.

"Potential adversaries understand that millions could die from the long-term collateral effects of EMP and cyber-attacks that cause protracted black-out of national electric grids and other life-sustaining critical infrastructures," the report states.

"At least some regard this relatively easy, potentially anonymous, method of inflicting mass destruction as an attractive feature of what they describe as a Revolution in Military Affairs."

The report urges the Pentagon to develop its own EMP weapons that can be developed from relatively low-yield nuclear arms and precision guided missiles.

The president should direct that a limited nuclear option for EMP attack be included in U.S. nuclear strike plans to deter foreign states developing EMP arms.

Of particular concern, according to the report, are two North Korean satellites currently in polar orbit over the United States. The two satellites, launched in 2012 and 2016, currently travel in trajectories that are "consistent with practice or preparation for a surprise nuclear EMP attack," the report says.

The satellites’ polar orbits allow them to evade detection by U.S. missile defense satellites and sensors – a sign they could be used during the first stage of a North Korean long-range nuclear attack to disrupt U.S. missile defenses in Alaska and California.

The satellites, KMS-3 and KMS-4, appear to be similar to a secret Soviet-era weapon called the Fractional Orbital Bombardment System (FOBS) that Moscow planned for a surprise nuclear attack on the United States over the poles.

Two retired Russian generals testified to the EMP commission in 2004 that a design for a Russian super-EMP weapon was transferred to North Korea by Russian scientists and engineers working on North Korea’s missile and nuclear weapons program.

The Russians asserted the North Koreans could test a super-EMP weapon in a few years.

Last year, after North Korea conducted its sixth underground nuclear test, North Korean state media announced that the hydrogen bomb "can be detonated even at high altitudes for a super-powerful EMP attack according to strategic goals."

China’s EMP arms were discussed in Chinese military writings as recently as 2016.

China’s National Security Policy Committee, stated in January 2016 that "electromagnetic pulse bombs" will "change the ‘rules of the game’" by disrupting U.S. military precision warfare capabilities.

A PLA air force publication in 2014 states that EMP blasts are a new type of weapon. "On a battlefield, this new-type weapon will cause devastating damage to electronic systems, including computers, communications and control systems, and radars, resulting in immeasurable losses," the report said.

Russian military plans for using EMP attacks were traced in the report to Gen. Vladimir Slipchenko and his book Non-Contact Wars that calls for combining cyber attacks, physical attacks, and EMP attacks against electric grids.

A Russian General Staff journal in 2011 also stated that U.S. military forces are vulnerable to electronic and EMP attacks.

"A single low-yield nuclear weapon exploded for this purpose high above the area of combat operations can generate an electromagnetic pulse covering a large area and destroying electronic equipment without loss of life that is caused by the blast or radiation," the report said.

Iranian military writings follow Russia’s approach to warfare and the use of EMP.

A 2010 Iranian military textbook states that Iran, in a future conflict, is planning coordinated attacks by nuclear and non-nuclear EMP, cyber, and physical weapons to cause blackouts and the collapse entire nations. Iranian military doctrine sees nuclear EMP attacks as the ultimate cyber weapon.

Iran also is building defenses against EMP attacks for its infrastructure.

The report states that Iran may prefer to use the indirect method of causing mass casualties by using a nuclear EMP attack as a way to conduct nuclear war under Islamic law.

Non-nuclear EMP weapons, those that are limited to a range of a mile or less, also have been used to disrupt communications power grids, the report said.

North Korea used a radio frequency weapon purchased from Russia to attack airliners and air traffic to Seoul, South Korea.

The report also takes aim at critics who have sought to play down the danger of EMP attacks and solar superstorms as science fiction.

The report said the critics often are uninformed because they either lack knowledge of the effects of the Soviet and U.S. high altitude nuclear tests in the early 1960s, or do not know about the extensive body of testing and analysis carried out by the Pentagon over the last 55 years.

A popular myth spread by EMP skeptics is that the 1962 atmospheric nuclear test known as Starfish Prime – 900 miles from Hawaii caused only minimal disruption to Honolulu.

"In fact, the EMP knocked-out thirty-six strings of street lights, caused a telecommunications microwave relay station to fail, burned out high-frequency radio links, set off burglar alarms, and caused other damage," the report said.

The report also criticizes the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and the North American Electric Reliability Corp. and the electric power industry for failing to address the EMP danger from either attack or solar storm.

Private industry also has failed to understand the threat posed by EMP to high-voltage transformers.

Peter Pry, a former EMP commission member, said the Pentagon has not published any findings of the commission since the commission was reestablished by Congress in 2016.

As a result, the new report was produced by the private EMP Task Force on National and Homeland Security after a security review completed in July by the Pentagon’s Office of Prepublication and Security Review, said Pry, executive director of the task force.
