‘Put your whole d**n fingers in their salads’: Prof wants more harassment of senators in restaurants

A University of Mississippi professor is under fire after encouraging harassment of senators in restaurants in a Twitter post and even adding "put your whole damn fingers in their salads."
Assistant professor of sociology James Thomas — whose Twitter account was protected Thursday morning — added that senators "don’t deserve your civility," according to the Daily Mississippian.
“Don’t just interrupt a Senator’s meal, y’all. Put your whole damn fingers in their salads. Take their apps and distribute them to the other diners. Bring boxes and take their food home with you on the way out,” Thomas tweeted Oct. 6, the day Judge Brett Kavanaugh was confirmed to the Supreme Court amid throngs of left-wing protesters who descended upon Washington, D.C.  “They don’t deserve your civility.”
A leftist mob harassed Republican Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas and his wife in the nation’s capital in late September. And the left-wing group that posted video of this incident added a chilling promise to Cruz, President Donald Trump, Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, and “right-wing scum” in general: "You are not safe. We will find you."

What did an Ole Miss official say?

“A recent social media post by a UM faculty member did not reflect the values articulated by the university, such as respect for the dignity of each individual and civility and fairness," Ole Miss Chancellor Jeffrey Vitter wrote in a Facebook post Sunday without naming Thomas. "While I passionately support free speech, I condemn statements that encourage acts of aggression. I urge all members of the Ole Miss community to demonstrate civility and respect for others and to honor the ideal of diversity of thought that is a foundational element of the academy."

How did one politician respond?

Chris McDaniel, a Republican Mississippi state senator and independent candidate for U.S. Senate, called Thomas a "low-life liberal," according to the Daily Mississippian.
“Another threat from another low-life liberal — this time it’s from an Ole Miss professor,” McDaniel wrote on Facebook, the paper said. “Disgusting. It’s time for disciplinary action.”

How did Thomas respond to the outrage?

“Run for office. Get elected. Pass legislation that harms large groups of people. And I will stick my whole foot in your lunch. Deal?” he wrote Saturday, according to Fox News.
The network added that Thomas also said if he’s given a sabbatical, he’ll write his fifth book and is “committed to helping strengthen Democratic Socialists as a viable political alternative, so I’ll do that in my spare time.”
Thomas told the Daily Mississippian he’s "guessing" the Ole Miss chancellor’s statement was directed at him, "but you’d need to ask [Vitter] since he wrote it. Only he would know who he was directing it toward. I support the chancellor’s right to free speech and to express himself through his social media. The free exchange of ideas is a hallmark of higher education.”
Campus Reform said when it called Thomas’ office for comment, he hung up the phone — and the school didn’t respond to the outlet, either.

Prominent Democrats encouraging bad behavior

The political landscape has become increasingly unbridled this year with conservative figures other than Cruz getting heckled and punched and kicked out of restaurants — and prominent Democrats have been encouraging such behavior.

  • Hillary Clinton said in an interview last week that “you cannot be civil” with Republicans and that “civility can start again” if the Democrats win back the U.S. Senate, the House of Representatives, or both come November.
  • Former Attorney General Eric Holder recently was caught on video turning around the Democratic mantra, "When they go low, we go high," by saying, "No, no. When they go low, we kick them!
  • U.S. Sen. Cory Booker of New Jersey in July urged activists in Washington, D.C., to “go to the Hill” and “get up in the face of some congresspeople.”
  • U.S. Rep. Maxine Waters of California in June infamously ranted to supporters to “create a crowd” and “push back on” members of President Donald Trump’s cabinet if they’re seen “in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station.” She added in her speech, “You tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere.”

In recent days, the ante only seems to have been upped:

With 1 Statement Trump Had Caravan Organizer in Custody & 3 Countries Desperately Trying to Stop Immigrants

President Donald Trump has Central American countries desperately scrambling to stop a caravan of illegal immigrants moving steadily toward the United States after Trump threatened to stop giving them aid if they refuse to stop it.

On Tuesday, Trump explained on Twitter that El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras, where the caravan originated, would lose payments from the United States if they refused to take action on their borders.

“We have today informed the countries of Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador that if they allow their citizens, or others, to journey through their borders and up to the United States, with the intention of entering our country illegally, all payments made to them will STOP,” Trump wrote.

Trump is referring to the huge caravan of immigrants heading toward Mexico and the United States.

By Wednesday, the “caravan” had grown to the size of 4,000 people, according to NBC.

But Trump’s statement was apparently enough to get the Central American countries’ attention, as it looks like Guatemalan and Honduran police have been sending people back.

Not only that, but Guatemalan police took one of the organizers of the caravan, Bartolo Fuentes, into custody along with three associates, according to Reuters.

The bad news is that the officers on the Honduran border with Guatemala have been unsuccessful in stopping everyone.

“We can’t attend to people en masse. People are going through one by one,” Honduran police spokesman Alex Madrid said.

The Mexican government is even trying to chip in by sending 500 Mexican federal police to its border with Guatemala, according to NBC.

On Thursday morning, Trump issued a Twitter post to make his position even clearer.

Amid the tension, the illegal immigrants have been trying to justify illegally entering foreign countries.

Is Trump’s strategy of pressuring these countries likely to work?

“These people are fleeing. These people are not tourists,” the arrested organizer, Fuentes, said.

Nobody ever thought they were tourists, Fuentes. Everybody recognizes the caravan for what it is. It’s a giant group of thousands of people who want to break the laws of the United States by entering the country illegally. That’s the definition of starting off on the wrong foot.

If the illegal immigrants are seeking employment and benefits, they will likely have to break the law again by using fraudulent documents.

However, a lot of this may be avoided with Trump’s tough stance on illegal immigration and Central American governments scrambling to stop the caravan.

Nancy Pelosi: There Will Be ‘Collateral Damage’ to Those Who Disagree with Us

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) told a gathering at the 92nd Street Y in New York on Sunday that there may have to be “collateral damage” to those Americans who do not agree with the Democratic Party agenda.

Pelosi was being interviewed onstage by Paul Krugman, the left-wing New York Times columnist and Nobel economic laureate who predicted, the day Donald Trump won the presidency, that Trump would trigger “a global recession, with no end in sight.”

In a long, rambling monologue, during which she stumbled on her words and appeared to lose her train of thought, Pelosi said:

We have to have total clarity about what we do, when it comes to everything — a woman’s right to choose, gay marriage … whether it’s about immigration, whether it’s about gun safety, whether it’s about climate … I think that we owe the American people to be there for them, for their financial security, respecting the dignity and worth of every person in our country, and if there’s some collateral damage for some others who do not share our view, well, so be it, but it shouldn’t be our original purpose.

It is not clear what Pelosi meant by “collateral damage,” though Democrats have advocated ostracizing and even prosecuting those who do not share their views on climate change.

Democrats like Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA), have also targeted Trump administration officials for harassment, and Republicans around the country have complained of intimidation and assault on the campaign trail in the run-up to the midterm elections.

On Monday, Pelosi told an audience at Harvard that Democrats would win the election, and the only question was whether it would be a “wave” or a “tsunami.”

Pelosi would likely return as speaker of the House if her party wins a majority.

The good economic news is hard to hide, but the press does its best

The U.S. economy is soaring at all levels. Employment is at record lows, taxes are down, the stock market is up, investment is up, and the U.S. has captured the world’s top spot for economic competitiveness. But the mainstream media, particularly the big television networks, are doing its best to ignore and underreport the good news because the goal of most journalists is to elect Democrats and destroy President Trump. Reporting the actual news isn’t as important to them as acting as unpaid stenographers for the Democratic Party, so they just can’t allow the public to read the truth.

Here are just a few of the good news stories the media and other Democrats do their best to hide by keeping below the fold and in the back pages, or simply not featuring in televised reports at all:

America first: The US is the most competitive country in the world

Amid Donald Trump starting trade wars across the globe, the World Economic Forum just unveiled the United States has reclaimed the crown as the most competitive country in the world.

Every year WEF releases its benchmark Global Competitiveness Report that takes a look 98 indicators across 140 countries to determine the overall ranking. Each indicator uses a scale from 0 to 100, to signify how close an economy is to the ideal state or “frontier” of competitiveness. Those indicators are then organized into 12 pillars, such as health, skills, financial system, infrastructure, and institutions.

So in less than two years, President Trump and the Republicans have again made the U.S. the most competitive country to do business by reducing taxes and regulations. The implications of that are vast, given the money that will flow here from abroad and the investment that will take place inside. That means more jobs, more tax revenue for the government, and more innovation, plus, more money for charity.

Here’s another that hasn’t made the top of the headlines:

There are 7.1 million job openings, a record high, according to the JOLTS report through August, as tracked by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Job openings continue to soar above the number of people seeking jobs. This lifts people of all races, all genders and all education levels. It shows that tax cuts indeed trickle down as they always have.

Americans quitting their jobs at fastest rate since 2001 — and that’s a good thing.

The percentage of people in the private sector who left their jobs by choice rose to 2.7% from 2.5%, the government said this week. The so-called quits rate among all workers edged up to 2.4% from 2.3%. Both hit the highest levels since 2001.

People are quitting their jobs at a high rate, knowing that there are other jobs out there and raises, bonuses and other benefits are probably available.

And there’s this:

The federal government collected a record $1,683,537,000,000 in individual income taxes in fiscal 2018 (October 2017 through September 2018),

Individual tax revenues went up $93 billion (about 6%) between FY 2017 and FY 2018. They did not fall as predicted. As always, tax cuts yield more economic growth and more revenue to government entities throughout the U.S. Over the next several years this economic improvement will yield an even greater amount of revenue. It is a simple concept that if individuals and businesses are allowed to keep more of their own money that the economy will improve, yet journalists and Democrats seem unable to grasp these elementary economic principles.

Here’s proof:

Individual income taxes totaled up to 1.59 trillion U.S. dollars in 2017,

The last IRS statistics that are available are from 2015 and they show that the top 1% of taxpayers paid much more than the bottom 90% combined yet we are told by Democrats that the tax code is not progressive enough.

The most important statistic is that the top 1% of taxpayers paid 39% of income taxes even though they only earned 20% of the income. How can anyone say with a straight face that people who pay around double the share of taxes than their share of income is not enough? I have never seen anything so greedy as the Democrats who always want more power and money for the government and themselves. There is never enough. Here are the data from the Tax Foundation:

  • In 2015, 141.2 million taxpayers reported earning $10.14 trillion in adjusted gross income and paid $1.45 trillion in individual income taxes.
  • The share of reported income earned by the top 1 percent of taxpayers rose slightly to 20.7 percent in 2015. Their share of federal individual income taxes fell slightly, to 39.0 percent.
  • In 2015, the top 50 percent of all taxpayers paid 97.2 percent of all individual income taxes while the bottom 50 percent paid the remaining 2.8 percent.
  • The top 1 percent paid a greater share of individual income taxes (39.0 percent) than the bottom 90 percent combined (29.4 percent).
  • The top 1 percent of taxpayers paid a 27.1 percent individual income tax rate, which is more than seven times higher than taxpayers in the bottom 50 percent (3.6 percent).

So what do Democrats propose in response to the great economic news that is obviously related to President Trump policies? They propose reversing the tax cuts and increasing the regulations to get back to Obama-era policies that yielded the slowest economic recovery in seventy years. What sheer brilliance. They want less drilling, fewer pipelines and less coal so we can be more dependent on Saudi Arabia and Russia. More absolute brilliance.  They want a sanctuary country which is pure stupidity.

Their biggest proposal is to go to national health care, or as they call it, Medicare for all. They say that the cost would be $32 trillion over ten years, but we know the cost of entitlement programs have always been massively underestimated (my guess is the underestimate is intentional because the underestimate is so consistent) They also consistently underestimate economic growth and tax revenue from pro-private sector policies (again this looks intentional since they ignore actual history of previous tax cuts).

The $32 trillion cost also does not appear to take into account the absolute disastrous economic destruction that would occur in the private sector if the private health insurance industry and other related entities are destroyed. The multiplier effect of the destruction would be astonishing throughout the country.

I cannot think of anything as stupid as a party that wants government power above all else, that seeks to make more people dependent on government instead of giving them more power to move up the economic ladder and a party that doesn’t support policies that have again made the U.S. the most attractive place to do business in the world.

Why do they do that, and why do their media and entertainment allies back them so adoringly?  I certainly can’t answer that question because the answer would not be logical.

Trump turns Democrat angst up to 11

Next month’s election will be fun.

Democrats in Congress and on America’s coasts are experiencing an existential crisis.  Hysteria runs rampant.  We’re two years in and counting.  Desperation has set in.  Maxine Waters encourages violence.  Kamala Harris and Cory Booker imagine themselves as frontrunners in 2020.  Hillary Clinton claims that civility is not merited, and Elizabeth Warren checked her DNA.  Oy, veh.  It’s getting tiresome.  But still, it’s funny.

These folks assumed since 2008 that their side had won, permanently.  They assumed that the Republican Party is dead.  They assumed that no one except “crazies” would oppose the progressive agenda.  The bitter clingers and deplorables were supposed to lose.  Everyone to the right of progressives was assumed to be radical, Alt-Insane, pure scum, and worthy of public scorn.  Hence their mania.

Then a miracle happened.  Against the alleged inevitable tide of history, America got “woke.”  It wasn’t that America was there for Trump.  It was that Trump was there for America.

Elections have consequences.  2010.  2012.  2014.  Landslide victories for Republicans at both the state and congressional levels.  Then came Trump.  Accidental?  No.  It was a red wave of monumental significance…except to Democrats in Congress and on the coasts.  They weren’t worried by any of it.  After all, they had Hillary warming up in the bullpen.  And open borders…with illegal aliens being bused to many key voting districts around the U.S.  Motor voter laws in effect, or coming into effect.  Don’t think this strategy was a last-minute ploy.  Plans were made in advance.  Plus verbal agreements were in place for a climate accord in Paris, a nuclear deal with Iran, and a trade deal in the Pacific.  Once those were in place, it was time for the fat lady to sing.  Trump was nothing more to them than a voice crying in the wilderness (Isa. 40:3).  It was a cinch that Democrats would rule Washington for a lifetime or two, maybe forever.  That’s my take on it.

So don’t be surprised by the manic screeds of miscreants on the Alt-Left, including Antifa.  At worst, they are a fraction of a minority, a pimple on an elephant’s hind leg, no matter how often they are magnified by the MSM.  They assumed they could re-invent America.  Folks much smarter than them assumed they could prevent Trump’s election, or prevent his inauguration, or drive him from office.  Destiny was in their hands…until it wasn’t.

It’s two years now and running.  The anarchists and bellyachers and their allies in Washington have failed at every turn.  Trump owns them.  He will prevail.  November 6 is right around the corner.  I’ll say now what I said before November 8, 2016Trump’s got this one.  Watch and see.  You won’t be disappointed on November 6, 2018.  Afterward will come the echo of the prophet Amos: “Let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an everflowing stream” (5:24).

Donald J. Trump doesn’t suffer fools for long.  He is no fool himself.  He has a strong counter-punch.  Congressional Democrats know as much.  Hence their angst.  He owns the lot of them.

Let’s compare notes on November 7.

In the meantime, vote as if your future depends on it.  It does.

Illegal Caravans Encouraged by Honduras and Soros

Just in time for the midterms, another “spontaneous” migration from Central America began with a bevy of allegedly oppressed and downtrodden Hondurans leading the way.  Pressured by a threat from President Trump to cut aid to Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador if the caravan is not stopped, some moves by these governments have been made.  Yet evidence exists that these migrations are not spontaneous, with both of the governments in question encouraging them as a political and economic safety valve and a source of foreign currency, financed in part by foreign leftists with connections to George Soros.

As Fox News’s Laura Ingraham noticed in a tweet, this is not a walk in a national park, but an expensive and arduous journey:

Who is funding the migrant “caravan”?  Each migrant’s passage can cost as much as $7K each.  Per capita income Honduras is $2.3 K.

It is doubtful that such sums came from the kiddies’ college funds.  Evidence of Soros funding of an earlier “spontaneous” migration have been found among the tentacles of support that flow from his Open Society group coffers:

Leftist billionaire George Soros is funding the well-organized anti-Trump migrant caravan invasion from Central America that has been hitting the United States-Mexico border in defiance of immigration enforcement.

Several major ultra-liberal foundations and corporations have supported the asylum-seeking migrant caravans, and Soros’ funding has been tied to several groups that have spearheaded the “refugee” invasion coalition – also dubbed “the Soros Express.”

“The caravan is organized by a group called Pueblo Sin Fronteras, [b]ut the effort is supported by the coalition CARA Family Detention Pro Bono Project, which includes Catholic Legal Immigration Network (CLIN), the American Immigration Council (AIC), the Refugee and Immigration Center for Education and Legal Services (RICELS) and the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) – thus the acronym CARA,” WND reported.  ”At least three of the four groups are funded by George Soros’ Open Society Foundation.”

The hands of the Honduran government are not clean in these efforts.  Among the alleged asylum-seekers parked on the U.S. border is a contingent of Hondurans, allegedly fleeing persecution, poverty, crime, and oppression.  If that is the case, why is the Honduran government helping them, driving them northward under orders given to the Honduran ambassador, who is helping and escorting them?

Leaders of a caravan of Central American migrants traveling toward the United States through Mexico have repeatedly accused the Honduran government of corruption and with failing to address the poverty, crime and economic conditions forcing families to flee by the thousands.

So it shocked some observers when the Honduran ambassador joined the migrants protesting outside the Honduran embassy in Mexico City on Wednesday, and then accepted their invitation to walk 9 miles to a migrant shelter.

“I have been ordered by my government to support the Honduran migrants traveling with the caravan.  There are about 200 Hondurans who we will help out with paperwork and whatever is necessary,” Alden Rivera Montes, the Honduran ambassador to Mexico, told El Universal.

Ordered by my government?  Why is the country whose oppression they are allegedly fleeing helping them leave?  The answer is remittances, the money sent back home by so-called “migrants.”  Asylum is in large part a colossal scam designed to provide Latin American countries with a political and economic safety valve and a cash cow of foreign exchange.  In 2017, remittances sent back to Honduras totaled $4.33 billion and make up a significant part of the Honduran economy:

Within the span of a few short decades, migrants have become an essential engine of economic support for Honduras. Remittances comprised 17 percent of the nation’s gross domestic product (GDP) in 2011, according to World Bank estimates, the second largest share of any country in Latin America or the Caribbean.  As such, Honduran emigrants have tremendous significance for the country’s economy and for the sustenance of many otherwise impoverished communities and families.

Talk about a trade imbalance.  We import alleged asylum-seekers and other illegal aliens, and they send home billions sucked out of a benevolent U.S. government and economy.  We have an economy that has some 7.3 million jobs going unfilled because of a shortage of skilled workers.  Judging from photos of the latest caravan, one would suggest a paucity of welders, pipefitters, electricians, and long-haul truck-drivers.

Inner-city blacks have long asked which country they get to go to to escape violence and poverty.  Although President Trump is succeeding in fighting crime and increasing job opportunities in our urban areas, much remains to be done.  We do not need to be importing low-wage and low-skilled competitors to American citizens to drive down poor workers’ wages.  Inner-city residents have long asked, where’s our sanctuary?

Unlike the children of Central America, arriving en masse, the children of Chicago, facing conditions every bit as horrible, have no border to cross to seek asylum or refuge[.] …

”Do something for our children,” said one of the protesters in a video posted at the blog Rebel Pundit. “Have the same love for these young people like you got for the ones across the border, and you want to save them.”  …

A woman, identified only as Elaine, explained the plight of inner-city Baltimore residents on Laura Ingraham’s radio show: “My children cannot play outside. I cannot take my trash out without locking the door – it’s awful.  Who is going to give us anything?  Where can I get asylum?  Where can I get refugee status?”

Where, indeed?  Perhaps this side of a border wall Democrats oppose in favor of sanctuary cities and Medicare for illegal aliens.  If any of the alleged asylum-seekers want to learn a trade – how about a crash course in border wall construction?  Build it, and they won’t come.

K-12: Why So Little for the Mind?

Many critics say our public schools are a train wreck.  In Charlotte Iserbyt’s memorable phrase, we are all victims of “the deliberate dumbing down of America.”  Is there any escape?  Perhaps, but only if we’re candid about what has been done to us throughout the past century.

Here’s how bad things are now.  Camille Paglia, popular professor and author, declares: “What has happened is these young people now getting to college have no sense of history – of any kind!  No sense of history.  No world geography.  No sense of the violence and the barbarities of history.  So, they think that the whole world has always been like this, a kind of nice, comfortable world where you can go to the store and get orange juice and milk, and you can turn on the water and the hot water comes out. … They know nothing!”

Professor Patrick Deneen at Notre Dame says, “My students are know-nothings. … Their brains are largely empty. … They are the culmination of western civilization, a civilization that has forgotten nearly everything about itself, and as a result, has achieved near-perfect indifference to its own culture.”

Let’s jump farther back to 1983 and the famous ”Nation at Risk“ report produced by a congressional investigation, which concluded: “The educational foundations of our society are presently being eroded by a rising tide of mediocrity that threatens our very future as a Nation and a people.”  Then came the wonderful deadpan crescendo: “If an unfriendly foreign power had attempted to impose on America the mediocre educational performance that exists today, we might well have viewed it as an act of war.”  Please savor this.  Our schools are so bad that the Russians are probably in charge – that is, the communists.

This shocking statement merely reveals the obvious.  A decade earlier, celebrated communist author Herbert Marcuse, in Counterrevolution and Revolt, applauded “the strategy of the long march through the institutions: working against the established institutions while working within them … by ‘doing the job’, learning how to program and read computers, how to teach at all levels of education, how to use the mass media[.]”

Such strategies have long been commonplace.  After the Russian Revolution was consolidated in 1920, the Communist International proposed that the same methods be pursued around the world. The Long March, the Deliberate Dumbing Down – all proceeded simultaneously in every part of our society.  The communists wanted to influence print media, broadcast networks, magazines, publishing businesses, universities, the foundations – and they pretty much expropriated control of everything.  That’s why they could do to education whatever they wanted and reduce public schools to ignorance factories.

The central fact of this whole story is that the USSR was a police state (and probably better described as a slave state).  Khrushchev announced to the world circa 1956 that he intended to bury us – i.e., make us part of his evil empire.  The communists assumed this outcome until after 1990 and probably do so today.  So throughout the 20th century, these subversives was merely preparing us for our proper place in the world: enslaved.  Slaves don’t need to read or think.

Decades earlier, John Dewey and his Fabian socialists proposed the strategy that would be endlessly replicated: infiltrate and conquer.  And never tell the truth.  The New Republic tied together the main threads:

Finally, Dewey arguably did more than any other reformer to repackage progressive social theory in a way that obscured just how radically its principles departed from those of the American founding[.] … Dewey initially embraced the term “socialism” to describe his social theory.  Only after realizing how damaging the name was to the socialist cause did he, like other progressives, begin to avoid it.  In the early 1930s, accordingly, Dewey begged the Socialist party, of which he was a longtime member, to change its name.  ”The greatest handicap from which special measures favored by the Socialists suffer,” Dewey declared, “is that they are advanced by the Socialist party as Socialism.  The prejudice against the name may be a regrettable prejudice but its influence is so powerful that it is much more reasonable to imagine all but the most dogmatic Socialists joining a new party than to imagine any considerable part of the American people going over to them.”

Our secret socialists faced endless packaging and marketing problems.  The education commissars had to provide a clever cover story for every excrescence.  If professors of education could justify claiming that non-reading is reading, then they could use Whole Word to make children into functional illiterates.  If they could claim that garbled, nearly useless arithmetic is as good as real arithmetic, they could make kids learn Common Core Math.  If they could create bogus research to prove that Constructivism is a superior way to teach content, they could make sure everyone knew almost nothing, exactly as professors Paglia and Deneen described.

America became a large beetle with a nasty parasite consuming it from the inside.  Nineteen fifty-three is roughly the midpoint of our long march to defeat.  That year, Hilda Neatby, a world-class professor, published her book So Little for the Mind.  Neatby was the first female president of the Canadian Historical Association.  Her book provides a shrewd exposition of what happens to a civilization when a parasite is inside.  It’s easy to fall in love with Neatby’s beautiful mind:

It is well, however, to skirt Dewey’s philosophy lightly, not through irreverence, but rather through godly fear.  He has been looked upon as the fountain at which every novice must drink; in truth he is no fountain, he is rather a marsh, a bog where armies of school teachers have sunk, and, one might add, many of them have never risen, but speak with muffled accents from the depths.

Although [the expert] says he wants children to think, when driven into a corner he betrays an uneasy conviction that most children cannot think and he therefore accuses his critics of planning an ‘academic’ education suited to the few.

The faith of our experts is not faith in the ability of all to solve problems but the reverse.  The material which would enable the individual to work out his own salvation is practically withheld in order that he may be more receptive to the ready-made solutions that are handed out.  Few experts in education show any appreciation of the rewards of disinterested scholarship.  And this is not surprising; few indeed have experienced them.

Neatby tells us what happens when communists are loose in the world.  Hardly 40 years into the war against these subversives, we were largely pacified.  We had 100% literacy in 1915, but it declined steadily thereafter.

This historical review points to an unexpected and unpleasant conclusion.  Many of our most important institutions lied to us continually.  I suspect that nothing preached by our Education Establishment was ever true, was ever intended to work, was ever intended to help children, was ever intended to be genuinely educational.  We’re looking back at a century of lies and subterfuge.  The commies, if we may call them that, out-schemed us and out-plotted us.  These indefatigable enemies, these expert assassins, knew our kill spots.  Education was the biggest and softest.

Education, which should elevate a society, was used to devastate ours.

Everybody should acknowledge this shameful acquiescence.  Look in a mirror and grin sheepishly: yeah, we were easy, so, so, so easy.

Basically, our socialists and Education Establishment did all the things we accused King George of doing: ”He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harass our people and eat out their substance. … He has combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution, and unacknowledged by our laws; giving his Assent to their Acts of pretended Legislation.”

We stopped King George.  Now we need to stop King Ed or, if you prefer, Red Ed.

Bruce Deitrick Price’s new book is “Saving K-12 – What happened to our public schools? How do we fix them?”  He deconstructs educational theories and methods at Improve-Education.org.

U.S. Steelworkers Get Largest Wage Hike in Years with Trump’s Tariffs

President Trump’s tariffs on imported aluminum and steel are securing massive wage hikes for American steelworkers with the United States Steel Corporation.

An exclusive report by Reuters reveals the details of the wage hikes for the approximately 16,000 U.S. Steel Corp union workers who have had their wages frozen for two years. Before that, between 2012 and 2015, the steelworkers only saw a six percent wage hike.

The newest contract between the union and U.S. Steel certifies that the U.S. steelworkers will see a 14 percent wage hike over the next four years, marking the largest pay increase for steelworkers in six years.

Weeks ago, Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross — a staunch economic nationalist — predicted that Trump’s tariffs on imported steel and aluminum would lead to wage increases for U.S. steelworkers.

“In many ways the current negotiations between the steel companies and the [United Steelworkers] probably will be a bellwether,” Ross told Reuters. “It wouldn’t be surprising if there are some wage increases coming from that.”

The wage hikes for 16,000 U.S. Steel Corp. workers comes after nearly 2,000 United Steelworkers (USW) in Michigan and Minnesota were gifted wage increases as well, thanks to the tariffs, as Breitbart News reported.

The 1,850 American steelworkers who are set to see wage increases are based in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan’s Tilden and Empire mines and the United Taconite and Hibbing Taconite mines in Iron Range, Minnesota.

Iron Range, Minnesota — which was devastated by multinational free trade deals — has been revitalized by the Trump tariffs. A local report this month noted how small businesses in Iron Range are seeing employment booms and a growing economy thanks to the strong production of the iron mines in the region.

As Breitbart News most recently reported, Trump’s tariffs on imported goods are not costing U.S. jobs, as free trade advocates had claimed for the last year. In fact, the Trump tariffs have created more than 11,000 American jobs in the economy in the last six months, according to research by the Coalition for a Prosperous America.

Kris Kobach’s Welfare Reform: Drug Tests for Food Stamps, End Benefits for Illegal Aliens

Kansas Secretary of State and GOP nominee for governor Kris Kobach’s populist welfare reform initiative includes mandatory drug testing for food stamp recipients and ending all public benefits for illegal aliens.

On Wednesday, Kobach — endorsed by President Trump — laid out his welfare reform agenda, which includes saving Kansas taxpayer money by requiring able-bodied Medicaid beneficiaries to work no less than 30 hours a week.

The plan will also require drug testing for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) — otherwise known as food stamps — recipients and for Medicaid users.

“It’s time to move people off of welfare and into jobs,” Kobach said during a press conference.

Able-bodied food stamp recipients and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) users in the state would also need to start working 30 hours a week, rather than the 20 hours a week that are currently required.

Kobach’s plan also ends all public benefits for illegal aliens by mandating the use of the federal government’s Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) program, which verifies that welfare beneficiaries are in the U.S. legally.

Kobach said his welfare reform is all about lifting poverty-stricken communities out of government assistance and dependency and into the workforce.

Donald Trump Threatens to Send U.S. Military to Stop Migrant Caravan

President Donald Trump threatened Thursday to send the military to block the migrant caravan heading for the United States border.

“I must, in the strongest of terms, ask Mexico to stop this onslaught – and if unable to do so I will call up the U.S. Military and CLOSE OUR SOUTHERN BORDER!” Trump wrote on Twitter.

The caravan of migrants that began in Honduras has grown to several thousand people after passing into Guatemala as it heads for the Mexican border. Other Hondurans are leaving the country to join it.

Trump threatened to stop all federal payments to Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador if the countries failed to block the flow and blamed Democrats for rejecting a reform of immigration laws allowing them to claim asylum. He also claimed that the caravan included criminals.

“Hopefully Mexico will stop this onslaught at their Northern Border,” he wrote. “All Democrats fault for weak laws!”

Trump appeared willing to end his new trade deal with Mexico if the caravan was not stopped.

“The assault on our country at our Southern Border, including the Criminal elements and DRUGS pouring in, is far more important to me, as President, than Trade or the USMCA,” he wrote.
