FBI, DHS Drops Antifa-Obama Bombshell that Proves Trump Was Right All Along

Advertisement – story continues below

In August, the liberal media tore President Donald Trump to shreds when he stated that “both sides” were to blame for the violence in Charlottesville, Virginia.

As with most things, it now appears that the media was too quick to start criticizing Trump. In fact, new information shows that the Department of Homeland Security has been issuing warnings about various Antifa groups for a while, Politico reported.

Since early 2016 — during President Obama’s tenure — both the FBI and DHS were warning that the Antifa groups were becoming increasingly violent. Stunningly, Obama’s DHS actually classified Antifa activity as “domestic terrorist violence.”

Advertisement – story continues below

Of course the media hasn’t let that stop them from pretending that the Antifa are peaceful protesters and that the alt-right are the only ones committing violence.

Trump was right. Both sides share blame for the violence that has engulfed this nation recently. Ignoring this fact goes against what the FBI and DHS has been saying for over a year, since before Donald Trump’s election — as well as what countless photos and videos from these protests have shown us.

“These antifa guys were showing up with weapons, shields and bike helmets and just beating the s*** out of people … They’re using Molotov cocktails, they’re starting fires, they’re throwing bombs and smashing windows,” said one anonymous law enforcement official.

Advertisement – story continues below

The FBI and DHS report on these groups stressed that there is still a lot that is unknown about them; there is real concern they are traveling overseas to get training in how to conduct violent protests, and they may start upping the level of violence.

“Every time they have one of these protests where both sides are bringing guns, there are sphincters tightening in my world. Emotions get high, and fingers get twitchy on the trigger,” said the law enforcement official.

While the alt-right and other racist groups should be held accountable for their despicable acts, Antifa also needs to be held accountable.

“Both the racists and a segment of violent antifa counter-protestors are amped for battle in an escalating arms race, where police departments are outmaneuvered, resulting in increasingly violent dangerous confrontations,” former New York City police officer Brian Levin explained.

Advertisement – story continues below

The longer the media refuses to call out the Antifa for their role in the violence, the more emboldened they will get and the worse off this country will be.

It’s time to call out both sides for their brutality, and bring and end to the violence that has torn this nation apart.

FBI, Hold Hillary Clinton Accountable Petition

As an Air Force retiree with over 30 years Military and Civil service as a communications intelligence collector, analyst and specialist, I routinely handled top secret sensitive compartmentalized information. Police Union Holds Rally in Response to BLM Protest

Advertisement – story continues below

The left-wing “Black Lives Matter” group seems to think it can bully and intimidate communities — but its members just got a taste of their own medicine.

Days ago, the anti-police group staged a protest over a suspect who was shot after an altercation with an officer.

That by itself isn’t terribly noteworthy… but where the rally was held should make your blood boil. According to WHYY News, the mob of protesters showed up at an officer’s home in northeast Philadelphia to intimidate his family.

Advertisement – story continues below

Fed up with group’s thug-like tactics, a local police union held a “Back the Blue” rally of its own, and had some harsh words for BLM.

“When you go to work each day, you shouldn’t have to worry that a pack of rabid animals will suddenly show up at your home and openly threaten your family,” declared John McNesby, president of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 5.

“These are not activists, they are racist hate groups determined to instigate violence,” he continued.

Advertisement – story continues below

Black Lives Matter has stepped up their public demonstrations after the name of an officer involved in a June shooting was released.

That police officer is reportedly Ryan Pownall, who stopped a suspect named David Jones for riding an illegal dirt bike in Philadelphia.

During the stop, the veteran police officer allegedly discovered that Jones was carrying a handgun illegally. There was a fight, and Officer Pownall ended up using lethal force to stop the armed man from firing or escaping.

“A witness in back of Pownall’s police vehicle watched [Officer] Pownall pull his service weapon and warn Jones not to touch the gun, police said. The two men scuffled before Jones allegedly grabbed his handgun, according to police,” reported WCAU News.

Advertisement – story continues below

A 9mm handgun was reportedly found at the scene, and at least one witness seems to confirm that Jones was armed and refused to stop when ordered by the police.

It’s one thing to make your voice heard, and peacefully demonstrate for a cause. However, a mob showing up at the home of a family crosses the line — and they’re nothing short of menacing hooligans.

Black Lives Matter chants vague slogans and calls for “justice,” but they never define what goals they’re actually seeking.

“Justice” does not mean that an alleged criminal can break the law, ignore a sworn police officer, and reach for a handgun without consequences. What BLM seems to want is inner-city anarchy.

The far-left group wrings its hands over gun violence, but then refuses to back the police officers trying to stop armed criminals. Black Lives Matter calls police racists thugs, but then escalates the thuggery and bigotry with statements that group all white Americans and police officers as the enemy.

Ironically, the thin blue line of officers is often the only thing that keeps urban areas from descending into complete chaos — but that point is entirely lost on the thuggish protesters who know only anger.

Please press “Share on Facebook” if you agree with the “Back The Blue” group: Intimidating an officer’s family is not acceptable!

Manufacturing Sector Increased Jobs At Fastest Pace in More than 4 Years

The manufacturing sector increased jobs at the fastest pace in the month of July than the sector had in more than four years, the New York Times reported.

While the jobs report showed there were fewer jobs created than were expected overall, jobs in the manufacturing sector showed improvement.

"The latest payroll data underscores the striking rebound at American factories, which lost more than two million jobs in the recession, but have clawed their way back and recovered more than one million positions since 2010," the article states.

President Trump campaigned on his ability to create jobs and improve the manufacturing sector before taking office, and sentiment among consumers and business leaders has improved since he’s taken office.

For example, Mack Trucks, which laid off workers last year, has began hiring new employees, and the president of the company said they have seen confidence rise.

"Auto sales were down slightly in August, continuing 2017’s soft trend but employment at vehicle and parts factories, which includes truck makers like Mac, managed to climb by 14,000 last month," says the Times. "After dropping to 1,287 at the end of 2016 from 1,875 a year earlier, employment at Mac’s Macungie plant has rebounded to 1,800."

Jordan Peterson Explains Leftism’s Core

Postmodernism — an outgrowth of neo-Marxism — contends that power struggles are the only drivers of human affairs, asserted Jordan Peterson during Joe Rogan’s eponymous Friday-published show:

One of the tenets of postmodernism … is that there’s nothing but power. That’s the only thing that mediates relationships between people, because there’s no real world, everything’s a social construct. And it’s landscape of conflict between groups; that’s the postmodern world.

The only actual means of expression is power.

They look at hierarchical organizations — and they’re stratified, obviously, there’s people at the top and people at the bottom — the only reason that there are people at the top is because they dominate by power. There’s no philosophy of authority or competence.

If you’re cynical about that sort of thing, and you should be, you might say that part of the reason that the only thing that postmodernists believe in is power is because that helps them justify their arbitrary use of it under any circumstances whatsoever.

Bret Weinstein, who appeared alongside Peterson on Rogan’s Friday show, framed Marxism’s social prescriptions as incompatible with human nature:

It’s sort of a tired critique, but I happen to think it’s about right, which is just that [Marxism] does not take account of what a human being is, and what makes society function.

Leftists cultivate resentment via jealousy and insecurity, said Peterson; they frame wealthier persons as immoral exploiters of relatively poorer persons. If such agitation moves forward, he continued, productive persons are destroyed to the detriment of broader society:

[Postmodernists and neo-Marxists] say — this is the pernicious thing — they say, “Well, the reason some people have more than others is because every hierarchy is based on arbitrary [distribution] of power, and [those at the top] are oppressors. The reason they have the money is because they stole it from you,” and there’s some truth in that because there are some criminals. But when you get to the point that you fail to distinguish the productive people from the criminals — which is exactly what happened in the 1920s in the Soviet Union — you better bloody well watch out, because when you radically make things egalitarian, you’re gonna wipe out all your productive people, and then you’re gonna starve.

Universities and colleges are largely controlled by postmodernists and neo-Marxists, said Peterson: “The universities are actively agitating to produce people who believe that all inequality is due to oppression and power.”

“The well-developed individual is the antidote to the tyranny of society and biology,” concluded Peterson in describing the pinnacle of Western Civilization’s understanding of the human condition.

Individual growth through the embracing of personal responsibility is essential to preserving human freedom, said Peterson.

Marxism is a sociological paradigm framing “class struggle” as the driving force of history. Neo-Marxism recalibrated “class struggle” to include power struggles (contextualized within a zero-sum game paradigm) between assorted and arbitrarily defined groups, including but not limited to groupings based on sex, race, ethnicity, religion, and sexual orientation.

Marxism frames human nature as fluid, with the human condition therefore perfectable through technocratic central planning. Competing ideologies such as (American) conservatism are predicated on an essentialist view of human nature, yielding skepticism of increasing centralization of power within the state at the expense of individual liberty.

Peterson is a professor of Psychology at the University of Toronto. Weinstein is a professor of biology at Evergreen State College.

North Korea Nuclear Progress Puts Iran on Renewed Pathway to Bomb

U.S. officials are closely monitoring an ongoing meeting between senior North Korean and Iranian officials that comes on the heels of a nuclear test by Pyongyang, according to senior Trump administration officials and other sources who expressed concern that North Korea is helping to put the Islamic Republic back on the pathway to a functional nuclear weapon.

Sources told the Washington Free Beacon that Pyongyang continues to stockpile illicit nuclear material on Iran’s behalf in order to help the Islamic Republic skirt restrictions implemented under the landmark nuclear deal.

North Korea’s latest nuclear test of a hydrogen bomb has roiled Trump administration officials and led President Donald Trump to consider multiple options for war. However, it also has renewed fears among U.S. officials and foreign policy insiders about Pyongyang’s long-standing relationship with Iran, which centers on providing the Islamic Republic with nuclear technology and know-how.

The head of North Korea’s parliament arrived this weekend in Iran for a 10-day visit aimed at boosting ties between the two countries amid an international crackdown on Pyongyang’s nuclear weapons program, a situation U.S. officials tell the Free Beacon is being closely monitored.

As North Korea makes progress in its nuclear pursuits, it is likely this information is being shared with senior Iranian officials who continue to maintain and build upon the country’s weapons program, despite the nuclear agreement, which only limits a portion of Iran’s nuclear enrichment and research abilities.

One senior U.S. official currently handling the Iranian and North Korean nuclear portfolios told the Free Beacon that the collaboration between these two countries is being closely monitored by the Trump administration, which will not hesitate to take action to disrupt this relationship.

"The history of collaboration between North Korea and Iran has been an ongoing concern and needs to be watched closely," the official told the Free Beacon. "We’ve been laboring under the false assumption that these oppressive regimes are rational and that we can persuade them to act for the greater good. President Trump has made it clear those days are at an end, and that the United States will do what is necessary to prevent Iran from turning into another North Korea."

Iran and North Korea have long collaborated on their missile programs and nuclear technology, and the U.S. intelligence community continues to monitor ongoing efforts by the two countries to boost cooperation.

Kim Yong Nam, the head of North Korea’s parliament, reportedly arrived in Iran on Thursday for a high-profile meeting with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani that is likely to center around Tehran’s quest for technology and North Korea’s need for hard currency and financial assets.

Iran has been flush with cash and other financial assets since the nuclear agreement lifted international sanctions and opened the Islamic Republic to new business ties.

Rep. Ron DeSantis (R., Fla.), a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and the National Security Subcommittee, told the Free Beacon that the increased ties are cause for concern, particularly in light of Iran’s renewed economic success.

"Given that Kim Jong Un is a plump, immature kid who only rules because of accident of birth, it is not clear that he can, through traditional means, be deterred from commencing an attack against the United States using his nuclear arsenal," DeSantis told the Free Beacon. "What is completely clear is that Kim is willing to transfer nuclear technology to, and assist with nuclear development for, rogue regimes such as Iran."

"Thanks to the Obama-Khamenei nuclear deal, Iran is flush with cash and has the capacity to be a willing buyer for nuclear material," DeSantis said. "This represents a major threat to the United States and should be taken seriously."

North Korea’s latest nuclear test has sparked a fierce war of words with the Trump administration, which announced on Monday that it is considering a range of military options.

United Nation’s Ambassador Nikki Halley said that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is "begging for war" and urged the U.N.’s Security Council to consider a strong response.

"Enough is enough," Haley was quoted as saying. "War is never something the United States wants. We don’t want it now. But our country’s patience is not unlimited."

Israeli officials also have warned that North Korea’s latest test is a boon to Iran’s own nuclear program.

"The international response, led by the U.S., to the North Korean regime’s provocations, sheds light on how it will behave toward the Iranian regime on their nuclear efforts in the near future," Moshe Ya’alon, a former Israeli defense minister, tweeted. "Although the nuclear test is not our issue, the tension should concern us."

Iran and North Korea have been sharing nuclear materials and know-how for well over a decade, according to sensitive intelligence community communications published by WikiLeaks and dating as far back as 2009.

The Obama administration took little action during its time in office to thwart this growing alliance, leading to increased nuclear ties between Iran and North Korea, multiple sources said.

In order to comply with the nuclear agreement, Iran outsourced much of its nuclear technology to North Korea, according to multiple sources, who pointed to evidence of a key 2015 meeting between the two countries surrounding the nuclear portfolio.

Iran also has opened ballistic missile factories in Syria with the help of Russia and North Korea, according to regional reports.

"North Korea and Iran’s military and political ties are long-standing, and can be traced back to the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq War, the same time that Tehran developed an interest in nuclear and missile technology," said Behnam Ben Taleblu, an Iran analyst at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies.

"North Korea’s provision of the Nodong-A liquid fueled medium-range ballistic missile to Iran in the 1990s enabled the mullahs to make significant strides in the missile program and eventually even their satellite launch-vehicle technology," Ben Taleblu explained.

"While some may see the long-standing missile relationship as merely evidence of the two countries’ interest in conventional munitions, these missiles are capable of carrying nuclear payloads, and offer both rogues the ultimate deterrent weapon with which to ensure regime survival," he said.

Iranian officials and scientists have been spotted at several of North Korea’s key nuclear test, fueling speculation that the two countries are in close contact on the issue.

"What is almost certain, however, is the following: both in the post- and pre-JCPOA [or Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, the formal name for the Iran deal] era, the two closely watched how each one negotiated with the international community, what deals it struck, the lies that worked and didn’t work, and where and how it could supplement resolve for material capability," Ben Taleblu said.

Michael Rubin, a former Pentagon adviser and expert on rogue regimes, further told the Free Beacon that it is suspected North Korean officials played a role in helping Iran recently test fire a series of ballistic missiles, which sparked international outrage and accusations the Islamic Republic is violating legally binding bans on such behavior.

"For those who want to deny the links between Pyongyang and Tehran, it’s easy so long as they ignore their military, diplomatic, and economic ties," Rubin said. "It’s doubtful there has been a single Iranian missile test where North Korean scientists weren’t present, nor a North Korean test where Iranian scientists didn’t have a front row seat."

One veteran congressional foreign policy adviser who works on the Iran portfolio told the Free Beacon that efforts to promote a new North Korean nuclear deal in the same vein as the Iran agreement are fruitless, and would only strengthen Pyongyang’s appetite to publicly test its nuclear weaponry.

"The same people who sold the Iran deal are now trying to sell what they call an ‘Iran deal for North Korea,’" the source said. "It’s the same groups, the same people, and the same playbook. Up until this weekend’s nuclear test, they were telling journalists that diplomacy has time to work, that North Korea is still years away from an H-Bomb, and—of course—that additional pressure would lead to war."

"Now, all at once, their narratives about Iran and North Korea are both colliding with reality," the source added. "The cost for American national security is staggering."

Rubin went on to describe the North Korean stand-off as a glimpse into future situations with Iran.

"North Korea is a crystal ball into the future of the Iranian nuclear agreement, and the current diplomatic behavior in which there will be no support for inspections, which risk finding Iran in violation and imperiling the agreement, fits the pattern to a ‘T,’" Rubin said. "In addition, one of the biggest holes to which the Obama administration agreed was not recognizing that Iranian nuclear work doesn’t necessarily take place in Iran."

Feminists Launch Attack on “The Big Bang Theory” for Ridiculous Reason

Advertisement – story continues below

Radical feminists have an innate ability to find fault with anything they can potentially attack as “sexist” or “misogynistic,” and their most recent target was the wildly popular sitcom “The Big Bang Theory.”

The show, which revolves around the everyday lives of scientists and their geeky shenanigans, has been attacked by “feminist ally” Jonathan McIntosh as the “perfect embodiment” of “the adorkable misogynist.”

“Adorkable misogynists are male characters whose geeky version of masculinity is framed as both comically pathetic and endearing,” McIntosh said about the sitcom in a YouTube video. “And it’s their status as nerdy nice guys that then lets them off the hook for a wide range of creepy, entitled, and downright sexist behaviors.”

Advertisement – story continues below

In particular, the feminist accused the characters of promoting “harassing, entitled, and sexist behavior where women are concerned.”

“They consistently stalk, spy on, lie to, and try to manipulate the women in their lives,” he argued. “They’re overbearing, they refuse to take ‘no’ for an answer, and they often ignore the basic tenets of consent.”

No, the characters on the popular sitcom are not perfect, but that’s what makes the show relatable to so many people of every gender, race and political persuasion. In fact, the characters were written to purposely poke fun at the typical Hollywood stereotype about “geeks” and “nerds.”

Advertisement – story continues below

McIntosh, however, indicated that the show wasn’t simply a humorous outlet, but rather kept its audience “sympathetic to men who behave in such reprehensible ways.”

He then goes on to slam the show for making fun of men who are not “traditionally masculine” — so, now the men who were “sexist” and “misogynistic” are now apparently the victims in this scenario.

The show’s message, he argued, was “sexism is mostly harmless – and especially when that sexism is coming from geeky guys.”

The Mary Sue’s Marykate Jasper took that argument a step further, saying the show promoted behavior that allows men to “push women out of politics, out of certain industries, and off of social media platforms.”

Advertisement – story continues below

But, this wasn’t the first time feminists came out in full force against a character on the show — except in 2015 it was the female lead who was their target.

In a Redbook magazine interview, Kaley Cuoco explained why she doesn’t consider herself a “feminist.”

“It’s not really something I think about. Things are different now, and I know a lot of the work that paved the way for women happened before I was around… I was never that feminist girl demanding equality,” she said.

Of course, being a female and not being a feminist is the ultimate sin in the eyes of feminists, so they wasted no time attacking her.

That’s because radical feminists aren’t really interested in solving the problems they perceive in our society, but rather are more concerned with making up problems that aren’t really there and forcing everyone to agree with them.

Breaking: Trump Ends DACA, With 1 Catch

Advertisement – story continues below

The Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program — one of Barack Obama’s signature executive orders protecting illegal immigrants in the United States — will be repealed by President Donald Trump on Tuesday, sources told Fox News.

However, there’s a catch to the president’s action: he’s going to leave the program in place for six months so that Congress can find a solution.

The program, which was signed by President Obama back in July of 2012, allowed individuals — colloquially known as “Dreamers” — who were in this country illegally but who had been brought here as children to remain in the country via a renewable two-year deportation deferral. Individuals covered under the program could also obtain a work permit.

Advertisement – story continues below

The president had mixed feelings on DACA, which he publicly aired. In February, the Los Angeles Times reported that the administration had already drafted an executive order repealing Obama’s initiative. However, in a press conference that same month, Trump indicated he had issues with repealing the order

“DACA is a very, very difficult subject for me,” President Trump said, promising to handle the issue “with heart.… It’s one of the most difficult subjects I have because you have these incredible kids.”

According to Politico, the president eventually decided with repealing the order after consulting with Attorney General Jeff Sessions. In their conversations, Sessions convinced the president that it was Congress’ job to set immigration policy, not the executive branch’s.

Advertisement – story continues below

While White House Chief of Staff John Kelly is quoted as saying that he “thinks Congress should’ve gotten its act together a lot longer ago” on DACA, they now have a six-month window to do something about it.

This is going to infuriate a lot of members of the left. The modus operandi of the Democrat Party is to stonewall the Trump administration at every turn, refusing to work with either the White House or congressional Republicans. Now, the president is insisting that immigration policy be set through Congress — as it should have been since the beginning.

So, there’s the Hobson’s choice: either work with Republicans on a more modest version of DACA, or have the Republicans do it on their own. Should it be the latter, they run the risk of DACA being repealed entirely and putting the 800,000 individuals protected by it at risk for deportation.

Of course, were this passed by Congress in the first place — instead of via the pen and phone of our former president — we wouldn’t be talking about this. Alas, this is what happens when presidents enact things by fiat: they tend to discover that what can be done by their caprice can just as easily be undone by their successor.

Utah nurse arrested by police officer tells her side of the story: ‘I was scared to death’

Alex Wubbels, the Utah hospital nurse who was forcibly arrested for disobeying unconstitutional police orders, spoke to CNN’s “New Day” anchor Alisyn Camerota on Monday and told her side of the story that shook the nation.

Wubbels was arrested in July after she refused to provide blood samples of an unconscious motor vehicle accident victim to a Salt Lake City police officer.

Wubbels’ disturbing arrest: What happened?

Salt Lake City detective and police phlebotomist Jeff Payne was filmed during the July 26 incident both assaulting and arresting Wubbels after she refused to provide him with vials of blood drawn from the patient.

According to reports, Payne didn’t have a warrant to obtain the patient’s blood, the patient’s consent, or even probable cause to draw it.

Lacking the adherence to any of those guidelines, Payne was constitutionally barred from drawing or obtaining the blood samples.

When Wubbels refused to bend to the detective’s demands, he forcibly restrained her, placed her in handcuffs, and required her to sit in a hot police cruiser for 20 minutes, according to reports.

Wubbels was later released and was not charged with a crime.

Wubbels’ side of the story

Wubbels told Camerota that she was “scared to death” during the altercation, but stuck to her guns, saying that she would not allow a patient’s privacy to be abused.

Wubbels told Camerota that Payne did reveal why she was being arrested as she was being handcuffed and hauled off to the waiting police car.

“I can’t speak for Officer Payne,” Wubbels said, “but what I can say is I stood my ground. I stood what was right, which was to protect the patient. As a nurse — any nurse — would have done exactly what I did.”

Wubbels told Camerota that she was “scared to death” during the altercation.

“I was obviously very frightened, and I think since this has happened I’ve been able to sort of surmise that I feel betrayed,” she said. “I feel betrayed by the police officers, I feel betrayed by the university police and security.”

When Camerota asked Wubbels why she felt betrayed by hospital security, Wubbels revealed that she had called security preemptively, as she believed Payne to be hostile from the outset.

“I went down into the emergency room to get help, to have someone protect me, because I felt unsafe from Officer Payne from the beginning,” she admitted.

She noted that Payne was “aggressive” from the start.

“As a nurse, it’s my job to assess a situation,” Wubbels explained, “and my assessment skills led me to believe that Officer Payne was already agitated. He had already stormed off in disapproval when I had originally told him he couldn’t do [take the patient’s blood] up on the unit itself.”

Wubbels said that Payne was set off when she initially explained that he had no just cause to obtain the blood.

“Unless the patient was under arrest, I needed to have an electronic warrant,” she explained. “There was no family, and the patient could not consent for himself, and I [told him] ‘I’m sorry.’ “

Wubbels told Camerota that Payne fired back and said, “You’re not sorry,” and stormed off.

“This is not OK,” she concluded.

Payne’s fate

Initially, Payne was only suspended from the Salt Lake City’s blood-drawing unit after the July incident, and was allowed to remain on active police duty.

However, the Salt Lake City Tribune reported on Friday that Payne and unnamed another officer were placed on administrative leave, pending a full investigation of the incident.

The footage became public Thursday during a news conference by Wubbels’ attorney, Karra Porter, who said no claim or lawsuit has been filed.

Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill announced that he’s explored the possibility of opening a criminal investigation into the incident.

Gill on Friday said, “On the face of the evidence, there is concern that is raised about this officer’s conduct. But the whole point of an investigation is to gather the information about this situation.”

Violent Mob Forces Police to Shut Down ‘Patriot Picnic’ at Chicano Park

Violent Mob Forces Police to Shut Down ‘Patriot Picnic’ at Chicano Park

4 Sep, 2017
4 Sep, 2017

An explosive confrontation erupted at San Diego’s Chicano Park Sunday afternoon as an angry mob of several hundred protested a pro-Donald Trump group’s decision to hold a ‘Patriot Picnic’ in the symbolic public space.

According to the San Diego Union Tribune:

The tense exchange happened as fewer than a dozen activists gathered for an event they called the Patriot Picnic. The group planned to eat lunch at the Barrio Logan park before taking a tour of the murals, said Roger Ogden, one of the organizers. Ogden…said an email campaign has been started to get the artwork removed from the public park…

Word spread about the tour, and a counter-demonstration, dubbed the Solidarity Gathering at Chicano Park, was planned for noon. Hundreds of people attended to show their support.

Multiple news sources reported a massive police presence with officers from both the San Diego Police Department (SDPD) and California Highway Patrol (CHP) present.  Law enforcement also blocked off numerous routes, including a freeway offramp, as a precaution to maintain order.

The Times of San Diego reports that the counter-demonstrators were brought together by “a Facebook event for the gathering … organized in response to reports that a group of people planned to visit the park Sunday as part of a scouting expedition in response to Confederate monuments being removed across the country.”

The “Patriot Picnic” tour was captured on YouTube and shows a group of a half dozen or so gathered around a picnic table that is painted the colors of the Mexican flag on an unoccupied side of the park, sandwiched between a busy road and the freeway.  They were there ostensibly to eat a pizza lunch, but as one of the group was filming some of the murals and doing his own commentary, a phalanx of San Diego Police formed a line along the sidewalk as the crowd of counter-demonstrators became increasingly agitated.

Within minutes, the group was surrounded by hundreds of people, many wearing brown berets and waving Mexican and Communist flags, while filming with phones and trading insults with the pro-Trump demonstrators.

Shortly after forming a human barrier, the police were forced to retreat from their own line as the mob began to surge across the street. About two dozen officers surrounded the pro-Trump activists in order to protect them from the increasingly agitated and angry counter-protesters.

The park, which has been a controversial symbol of Latino activism since it’s inception in the 1970s, was in the news recently for a mural depicting an ICE agent choking a Mexican worker.

Local Affiliate NBC7 reports that counter-demonstrators attacked the motivations of those who attended the “Patriot Picnic” as wanting “to promote hate.”

After about 15 minutes, the pro-Trump activist group was ordered by SDPD to leave the park, and the entire group was escorted through the crowd, taunted by counter-demonstrators shouting “Nazis go home” and “Racists go home.”
