Charlottesville Mayor Claims Police Chief Told Him ‘Stay Out of My Way’

Charlottesville’s Mayor claimed Thursday that he and other members of the city council “were not given the security plan for August 12,” which was developed and closely held by the City Manager, the Police Chief, and the Fire Chief.

Mayor Mike Signer’s Facebook statement about city preparations in Charlottesville prior to the brawls between self-described white supremacists, white nationalists, and progressive street groups said:

I asked the Police Chief what I could do to be helpful during that day as Mayor, he answered, ‘Stay out of my way.’ Despite repeated requests, I was not allowed into the City’s Command Center (run by City staff) and was instead asked to be in the Emergency Operations Center (where fire, rescue, and other stakeholders were monitoring the situation).

Signer revealed the political motivations behind the City of Charlottesville’s actions leading up to the August 12 “Unite the Right” rally in Emancipation Park:

Understanding from our staff and other experts that the state of our law regarding these events meant that any attempt to cancel the rally would certainly have been shut down in court, I spent dozens of hours conferring with lawyers, law professors, staff, other mayors, security professionals, and other experts to develop another option.

That option was to move the event to a more spacious location where there could have been substantial “green field” between the protesters and counter protesters. After reviewing all locations in the City with the City Manager, the best option was McIntire Park. In the weeks leading up to August 12, I advocated for McIntire Park, including extensive discussions with my colleagues and staff. I successfully led the drive to hire an outside law firm to advise the City Manager and Police Chief on how such a plan could be developed on the strongest legal grounds.

Despite these efforts, the state of First Amendment law regarding these events is badly antiquated. We saw what happened. After the City Manager and Police Chief announced their decision that the rally would be relocated to a safer location—relying principally on the advice from our attorneys that the size of the event was the most “content-neutral” grounds for moving it—Jason Kessler immediately stated he would not respect the decision: that he would still head with his people to Emancipation Park. We were then sued by the Virginia ACLU and the Rutherford Institute. And a federal judge ruled against our decision on Friday night, just as we had feared.

Maurice Jones was named the City Manager in 2010, and Al Thomas was named the Police Chief in 2016.

Signer declared in January that Charlottesville would become a “capital of resistance” to recently inaugurated President Donald Trump.

On the morning of August 12, the groups from both factions clashed early as the white supremacists/white nationalists pushed their way through a human barrier of progressive protesters — which assembled under a street barrier declaring “Diversity Makes Us Stronger”  — and then got themselves into the park.

The rally was legally permitted to begin at noon on August 12, but Governor Terry McAuliffe ordered it shut down at 11:22 a.m. The City of Charlottesville Police Department tweeted out and posted on Facebook at 11:35 a.m. that “unlawful assembly had been declared at the rally.”

The Virginia State Police then pushed the “Unite the Right” rally out of Emancipation Park, and into the large crowd of counter protesters gathered in the street at the south entrance of the park. The violence between the two groups spread as a long line of white-power groups walked back through the gauntlet of progressives and away from the park.

At about 1:42 pm, a Dodge car drove into a crowd of counter protesters, killing 32-year-old Heather Heyer. “The driver of the Dodge, James A. Fields, Jr., 20, of Maumee, Ohio, was taken into custody and charged with one count of second-degree murder, three counts of malicious wounding and one count of hit-and-run,” the City of Charlottesville reported.

Before the riot, “during that week [from August 7 to August 12], City Council was under firm instructions not to speak about the rally at all, except to refer to its size,” Signer wrote:

For a public looking for condemnation of groups like the KKK and Nazis, this was very frustrating. It was frustrating for me, too. But if we had spoken out against the content of the speech that was coming to Charlottesville—against its bigotry and hatred—it would have made it even more likely that a judge would have found the removal decision to be “content-based.”

So we were muzzled. And it didn’t even make a difference, because in the tragic decision issued at 9:30 on Friday night, the federal judge still cited prior statements I had made about the bigotry and hate coming to our loving town. Our public statements of our feelings about this evil were held against us.

I hope this has explained some of what City Council can and cannot do. Where City Council does have a role, though, is in accountability. The City Manager works at our pleasure, and he is responsible for the staff under his command, in our form of government.

That is why we have called for an independent review of all decisions related not only to August 12, but the July 8 KKK rally and the prior torch-lit rally at Emancipation Park. This review will also include recommendations of reforms and new policies going forward. This process will require care and diligence, and will take skilled professionals 2-3 months. I expect the review to be announced shortly.

Signer explained that “this is why City Council deemed it necessary to hold an emergency closed session today with the City Manager to discuss personnel matters.”

“The events on August 12 have raised serious questions about the City’s handling of security, communications, and governance. These are questions Council can and should ask as the ultimate authority over the City Manager in our form of government, and we are starting that process today,” Signer concluded.

Last Wednesday, Breitbart News reported on the timeline of events leading up to the declaration of unlawful assembly at the Emancipation Park rally on August 12, and Signer’s statement confirms many of the details reported in that story.

Last Thursday, Breitbart News reported that Virginia Secretary of Public Safety Brian Moran told Richmond radio talk show host Jeff Katz that Governor McAuliffe “made the decision . . . to shut things down” at the Emancipation Park rally at 11:22 am on August 12. Signer’s statement also confirms many of the details reported in that story.

Gary Cohn Declares Antifa Thugs Are Great Americans ‘Standing Up For Equality and Freedom’

In what is the most absurd part of Gary Cohn’s interview with the Financial Times, the National Economic Council boss argued the notoriously violent Leftist group, Antifa, are upstanding citizens that are ‘standing up for equality and freedom.’ He cannot be serious.

Daily Caller reports:

National Economic Council Director Gary Cohn claimed that militant “anti-fascists” (or “antifa”) are just concerned citizens “standing up for equality and freedom” in a Financial Times interview that ran Friday.

“Citizens standing up for equality and freedom can never be equated with white supremacists, neo-Nazis, and the KKK,” Cohn said of the recent violence at a white nationalist rally in Charlottesville. “I believe this administration can and must do better in consistently and unequivocally condemning these groups and do everything we can to heal the deep divisions that exist in our communities.”

Cohn’s comments were a clear shot at President Trump, who took heat in the media for acknowledging that “both sides” engaged in the violence in Charlottesville.

The media refuses to report the truth about Antifa.

On Tuesday night Antifa protesters once again attacked police and Trump supporters outside of the Trump rally in Phoenix.

Antifa protesters were hurling water bottles at police.

The antifa goons were attacking the police.

Several violent far left protesters were arrested.

Reuters called the rioters “peace activists.”

REPORT: POTUS TRUMP “Seriously Considering” Ending DACA

A new report by Axios says President Trump is “seriously considering” ending DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals). The move would yield high praise from President Trump’s base and draw ire from his detractors. One thing is for certain – both sides would agree the move would erase a chunk of former President Obama’s legacy.

Axios reports:

Sources familiar with the deliberations tell Axios that Trump has made no final decision, and the White House continues to receive advice from the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Justice. Jeff Sessions strongly believes Trump should end DACA; DHS, however, has a more nuanced position, and Trump himself has said he’s sympathetic to the children helped by the program.

What is DACA? Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals — a program Obama introduced that shields illegal immigrants from deportation and temporarily gives them permits to work and study in the U.S., so long as they arrived as children.

Why this matters: If Trump rescinds the program, it will affect a huge number of people. At least 750,000 people currently have DACA status. Despite promising on the campaign trail to immediately rescind DACA, Trump has wavered since taking office, saying he feels for these children who were brought to the country through no fault of their own. The Trump administration has continued to issue new permits under the program, and with its future unclear, many families are confused and anxious about their futures.

Yesterday, POLITICO reported President Trump is exercising a high level of caution when it comes to his decision on DACA. Red states may sue the administration if the law is not reversed.

POLITICO reports:

Ten conservative states have threatened to sue the administration in order to kill off the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, a 2012 initiative that has granted work permits to nearly 800,000 young undocumented immigrants. They’re trying to replicate their legal tactic from more than two years ago, when a broader coalition of GOP-led states successfully stopped a more expansive program for millions of undocumented immigrants before it even began.

That means DACA, which President Barack Obama began five years ago this month, is confronting its gravest danger yet. And one of the biggest questions — will Trump defend the program in court — is still anybody’s guess.

Trump is facing pressure from his conservative allies to kill the initiative, but the hard-liner-in-chief has said that he wants to approach Dreamers “with heart.” Meanwhile, it’s also not clear how Trump would fare in court if he does defend the program, even as an early September deadline to act looms.

Marine witness in FBI probe into Wasserman Schultz’s IT staffer angrily goes public

A Marine involved in the FBI investigation into Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s (D-Fla.) arrested IT staffer Imran Awan stepped out of the shadows of anonymity to go public about his knowledge on the issue.

Andre Taggart, a black U.S. Marine who said he votes Democrat, told the Daily Caller on Wednesday that he was angered by Wasserman Schultz’s claims that the investigation into Awan by U.S. authorities is a result of bigotry.

Taggart is a key witness in the FBI investigation into the Awans. According to the Daily Caller, Taggart rented Awan’s Northern Virginia home. The Marine revealed he discovered the smashed hard drives Awan had left behind when he attempted to flee the U.S. for Pakistan.

Awan reportedly threatened to sue Taggart to get the hard drives back, but Taggert chose to alert the FBI instead of giving them up.

Taggart told the Daily Caller “it was amazing” that Wasserman Schultz suggested Awan was a victim of religious discrimination.

“It pisses me off,” Taggart said.

The Marine said he believed Wasserman Schultz is “crying wolf” and devaluing actual discrimination, while exposing herself and the nation to risks.

“I just want to get these [guys] locked up and exposed and now,” Taggart told the Daily Caller. “The people who facilitated them should also be locked up, as far as I’m concerned.”

Capitol Police first named Awan a central figure in a probe into House Democrat security breaches on Feb. 2. A federal grand jury indicted Awan and his wife Alvi on Aug. 17 for bank fraud, false statements, and unlawful monetary transactions. Alvi fled to Pakistan in March, and is reportedly under protection by the Pakistani government. Awan was apprehended by authorities at Dulles International Airport while attempting to flee for Pakistan himself on July 24.

Taggart told the Daily Caller that he believes it’s unfair that the media is focusing firmly on Trump and his alleged Russian connections, but isn’t mentioning Wasserman Schultz and Awan at all.

“Him, his wife, his brother, all working down there — there’s no way they could do this without help. If we can drag Trump and his wingnuts through the mud for the Russia influence that they are having, then it’s only fair that we also expose this s**t,” Taggart said.

Wasserman Schultz’s worst nightmare

According to various sources, Wasserman Schultz is not taking the probe into her former IT staffer well. Inside sources reported that the congresswoman became “jumpy” after Awan’s arrest and was literally running away from reporters when she spotted them coming toward her.

It’s currently unclear what kind of relationship Wasserman Schultz had with the Awans, but various sources from both inside and outside of House Democrat offices reported that the congresswoman was highly protective of Awan. Some feared that the former IT staffers possessed information capable of blackmailing Wasserman Schultz.

According to authorities, and fellow members of congress, Wasserman Schultz has also been unhelpful, and at times a hinderance to the investigation into the Awans. Senior congressional officials called her lack of cooperation “unsettling,” and suggested the results of the investigation could very well lead to her resignation.

Questions will remain until then. Why is Wasserman Schultz so protective of the Awans? What information did the Awans have? What was the extent of the security breaches? Also, why haven’t we heard much from House Democratic offices about this scandal?

If the answers to these questions are as damning as some congressional leaders believe it is, then Wasserman Schultz will have a very bumpy road ahead of her.

See It: Mike Rowe Unleashes On SJW Who Called Him a Nazi

Advertisement – story continues below

This social justice warrior who inadvertently called Mike Rowe a Nazi probably felt like crawling back behind the computer screen he came from after Rowe publicly blasted his fallacies on an epic Facebook post. This is brutal.

On Aug. 22nd, the host of the Discovery Network’s “Dirty Jobs” openly posted a user named Chuck Atkin’s question on his Facebook wall.

“Chuck Atkins says … “ the post began before citing the question that Atkins dared to ask.

Advertisement – story continues below

“One of the tenants (sic) of white nationalism is that college educated people are academic elitests (sic). Comment? No? I’m not surprised. You never take a political stand because you don’t want to alienate anybody. Its bad for business. I get it. But there is a current of anti intellectualism in this country – promoted by Republicans. Those people love you, and they think your initiative is their initiative. Meanwhile, the rest of the world is kickin our ass academically.”

Atkins was soon to realize his mistake in implying Rowe had white nationalist sympathies. Bad move Chuck… bad move.

Rowe was quick to comment in a lengthy response below Atkin’s question which began saying, “Hi Chuck, Since we’re being candid, allow me to say how much I dislike your post. Everything about it annoys me – your smug and snarky tone, your appalling grammar, your complete lack of evidence to support your claims, and of course, the overarching logical fallacy that informs your entire position.”

Advertisement – story continues below

Speaking of fallacies, Rowe included this hilarious meme to accompany his response.

logical fallacies

However, he was quick to point out that Atkins was actually right in one aspect. “What really bugs me though, is the fact that you’re not entirely wrong. It’s true; I haven’t shared any political opinions this week, in part anyway, because doing so might very well be ‘bad for business,’” Rowe admitted.

Rowe spoke to the fact that many celebrities who do share political opinions often pay the price for doing so. As such, Rowe said he feels “fine” about keeping those opinions to himself, because he understands that actions and words have consequences.

Advertisement – story continues below

“What can I say? I work for half-a-dozen different companies, none of whom pay me to share my political opinions. I run a non-partisan foundation, I’m about to launch a new show on Facebook, and I’m very aware that celebrities pay a price for opening their big fat gobs. Gilbert Gottfried, Kathy Griffin, Colin Kaepernick, Milo Yiannopoulos…even that guy from Google who just got himself fired for mouthing off. There’s no getting around it – the first amendment does not guarantee the freedom to speak without consequences. And really, that’s fine by me,” his post continued.

Then he attacked each one of Atkin’s claims in such an epic manner it is worth repeating in its entirety.

“You say that White Nationalists believe that everyone who goes to college is an ‘academic elite.’ You then say that Republicans promote ‘anti-intellectualism.’ You offer no proof to support either claim, but it really doesn’t matter – your statements successfully connect two radically different organizations by alleging a shared belief. Thus, White Nationalists and The Republican Party suddenly have something in common – a contempt for higher education. Then, you make it personal. You say that Republicans ‘love’ me because they believe that my initiative and ‘their’ initiative are one and the same. But of course, ‘their’ initiative is now the same initiative as White Nationalists,” Rowe said in what is pure gold analysis!

“Very clever. Without offering a shred of evidence, you’ve implied that Republicans who support mikeroweWORKS do so because they believe I share their disdain for all things ‘intellectual.’ And poof – just like that, Republicans, White Nationalists, and mikeroweWORKS are suddenly conflated, and the next thing you know, I’m off on a press tour to disavow rumors of my troubling association with the Nazis!”

The clever response then went on to show how Atkins was part of the problem and listed several news networks that take a shred of “information” to create an insanely unbelievable story. He did the same thing with Atkin’s comment, and was able to quickly paint Atkins as a racist using his own words against him.

It really is brilliant.

Finally, and this has to be said, Rowe dropped the mic with this comment.

“There’s not much we can do about the news, but here on Facebook, I think we can do better. This isn’t Twitter. We’re not limited to a few inflammatory sentences and a flurry of emojis. Take a moment, Chuck. Think. Make a rational argument. Otherwise, just link us to a cat video. People love those, and they’re almost never ‘bad for business.’ (Unless of course, the cat gets hurt. People hate that.) Just don’t assume that people will care about your beliefs, if you’re not willing to back them up with some relevant facts and a rational conclusion.”

Boom.

Honesty, everyone need to go right now to this post and read the entire thing. It is amazing to see a celebrity take everything he has learned from the media machine and use it to spread the truth to the people in this country.

We salute you, Mike Rowe.

Alert: Powerful Legal Organization Moves to Confiscate Guns

Advertisement – story continues below

The American Bar Association just proved that it cares less about the rights of Americans than it cares about the liberal agenda on gun control.

In a single move, the ABA made an overt attempt to cut Second Amendment rights during its 2017 annual meeting held Aug. 10-13. The ABA adopted a resolution to urge “state, local, territorial, and tribal governments to enact statutes, rules, or regulations authorizing courts to issue gun violence restraining orders, including ex parte orders.”

Cutting away the legal talk, that can be summed up in one word: Confiscation.

Advertisement – story continues below

As the NRA Institute for Legislative Action explains, “Gun violence restraining orders force a gun owner to surrender their firearms to law enforcement, or authorize law enforcement to seize said firearms, absent a disqualifying criminal conviction.

“NRA has opposed such legislation where introduced because such orders diminish the due process afforded an individual before they are stripped of their Second Amendment rights, and because of these orders’ obvious potential for abuse.”

To be clear, the ABA has decided that the government snatching guns without due process is acceptable under certain conditions.

Advertisement – story continues below

And if the history of American liberalism is a reliable guide, once certain conditions are OK for government exaction, it’s only a matter of time before those conditions expand.

For now, here’s what the ABA sees as appropriate for such horrendous legislation according to the revised copy of its resolution:

1. “That a person (a “petitioner”) with documented evidence that another person (a “respondent”) poses a serious threat to himself or herself or others may petition a court for an order temporarily suspending the respondent’s possession of a firearm or ammunition;

2. “That there shall be a verifiable procedure to ensure the surrender of firearms and ammunition pursuant to the court order; and

Advertisement – story continues below

3. “That the issuance of the gun violence restraining order shall be reported to appropriate state or federal databases in order to prevent respondent from passing a background check required to purchase a firearm or obtain a firearm license or permit while restraining order is in effect.”

So, all someone — anyone apparently — needs to do is document that a gun owner is, according to some evidence, a danger to society and/or self, send it to the court, and then BAM! The court has the right to strip you of your freedoms.

There’s no due process, here — can you see how egregiously this could be abused?

The American Bar Association does not have power of its own, not really — but it does have some serious influence.

Our rights are constantly under attack by the left — whether it’s overt or not. This resolution of insanity is one of the worst assaults on your rights you have.

Without the NRA, we might never have heard of it.

George Foreman Takes Off the Gloves and Obliterates Anthem Protesters in Epic Statement

Advertisement – story continues below

Boxing hero and Grillmaster General George Foreman is setting himself up as a champion of American patriotism by calling out NFL star wannabe Colin Kaepernick and NBA athlete Kevin Durant over their anti-patriotic attitudes and disrespect for President Donald Trump.

Kaepernick, the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback, is infamous for his behavior, kneeling during the national anthem and not voting. Durant, the Golden State Warriors basketball star, has said that if the NBA champion Warriors are invited to the White House, he would not go because of his dislike Trump.

“I don’t respect who’s in office right now,” Durant said, according to Fox News.

Advertisement – story continues below

Foreman has some pretty strong opinions on this country and why Kaepernick and Durant behave the way they do, which he shared on Monday’s podcast of “Offended America.”

“I love the United States,” Foreman said, according to a transcript provided by Fox News. “They (Kevin Durant and Colin Kaepernick) haven’t been brought up with people who were patriotic.”

“A lot of people died so that they can have that privilege,” Foreman said.

Advertisement – story continues below

What’s perhaps the most frustrating of all of the things that these guys have said and done is the fact that Kaepernick didn’t vote.

Do you know how many people in this country died for freedom in this country? It’s enough that Kaepernick should be ashamed.

Foreman also noted that some of his patriotism came from the time in which he was so active — he went and competed in the Olympics in 1968.

“We came in the era we were patriotic. The greatest day of my life was when I put on the colors, representing the United States,” he said.

Advertisement – story continues below

Maybe Kaepernick and Durant could learn a thing or two from Foreman. Well, they definitely could. They just won’t.

The left has got it in their heads that patriotism and the anthem are not in vogue, and they couldn’t be more wrong.
