At least Cuban higher education admits it is propaganda

For years, we’ve known that Cuba’s education is all about brainwashing students.  In other words, it’s the revolution first, and always first.

new report by independent journalists confirms it:

A few weeks after the dismissal of Professor Omara Ruiz Urquiola, Cuba’s Deputy Minister of Higher Education (MES), Martha del Carmen Mesa Valenciano, has been given the task of defining the attitude a university professor should have. Her criterion has the merit of clarity since, according to her, teachers in higher education have to behave as activists of “revolutionary politics” of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC).

In a text published on the official page of the MES, the official refers to the case of Ruiz Urquiola without mentioning her name. Mesa Valenciano acknowledges that the professor’s complaint, which circulated in social networks, motivated her to “take a tour” of Cuban higher education and make clear the official position regarding teachers.

“You are a university professor in order teach timely, constructive, contributing and supportive criticism and to build a better society together,” says the Deputy Minister, for whom “the wrong procedures, the bad actions of cadres, officials, leaders must be fought against,” without confusing these criticisms “with disrespect or with positions contrary to ‘revolutionary principles’.”

Mesa Valenciano cites the case of another professor, again without citing his name, who, in her opinion, “initiated a strong criticism of the decisions of the” Cuban leaders, “without perceiving that, with his irresponsible behavior in the comprehensive education of his students he confused them and showed them a wrong path.”

There it is!  No disrespect for revolutionary principles!

Again, this is not new for any of us familiar with Cuba or what public education has been and is.  It is a simply a way of teaching students whatever the dictatorship wants them to learn.

So remember the next time that someone tells you that they have free education in Cuba.   Yes, it’s free as long as you learn what the regime wants you to learn.

Enemies of America align with Democrats to defeat Trump in 2020

It is often said that politics makes for strange bedfellows. The Democrats, however, are taking that truism to unprecedented levels. Jumping on the Democrat 2020 bandwagon, but careful not to make it too noticeable, are China, Iran, and the globalists.

Media propaganda notwithstanding, the Chinese are getting desperate. President Trump is choking off their oxygen supply, which is trade. The best relief China can get is by the election of pliable U.S. president who, after some kabuki theatrics, will revert to business as usual with them. China’s dream president would be Joe Biden. One can only imagine the reams of dirt they have on Slow Joe from their dealings both with him during his vice-presidency days and their shady business arrangements with his wayward son, Hunter.

The other Democratic presidential candidates are not all that bad from China’s perspective, either. None have made an issue of either how compromised Biden is regarding China or what Chinese economic aggression has done to the American economy. This is a clear sign that they are soft on China — certainly softer that Donald Trump.

As for Iran, the Trump administration has put the mullahs in a world of hurt. Iran wants nothing more than to have the sanctions removed and get back to the halcyon days of Obama administration when their nuclear ambitions were coddled and their terrorist activity was, if not overlooked, then at least downplayed. To the Iranians, Trump is a bone stuck in their throat. The election of any of the Democratic candidates would be a godsend to them. They would especially like Biden in the Oval Office, since he too pines for the abandoned nuclear deal. Like the Chinese, expect the Iranians to work covertly to see that President Trump is defeated.

Then there are the globalists. They would to smother U.S. sovereignty with international organizations and multilateral treaties and would render the U.S. Constitution to being a mere historical artifact. Those internationalists have played a major role in damaging the U.S. industrial base to a degree that Hitler, Tojo, Mao, Stalin and the rest could only dream of. Their fingerprints all over the labor arbitrage that exported U.S. jobs and factories to Third World countries while simultaneously importing massive numbers of immigrants. This diabolical process weakens both the American working class and the cultural core of the country.

Paid shills for the globalist agenda dominate broadcast, cable, and print media. The titans of social media personally find American nationalism repugnant and willing place their foreign business interests ahead of America’s. In the past three presidential election cycles, the Democratic Party was their party. It will be the same this time only more pronounced.

It is no accident that Democrats dovetail in so smoothly the internal and external enemies of our republic. That party has long since been capture by leftists who despise America’s founding, its history, its traditions, and the majority of its people. Hate oozes out of them. To the left,  America is so flawed that she must be brought low so as to be transformed into something else. One only has to listen to the twenty or so Democrat candidate to hear that message.

Come election time, no voter — black, brown or white — should be under any illusion as to the exact nature of the Democratic Party. Readers here know the threat the Democrats pose to our constitutional republic.

The 1619 Project: The great progressive diversion

The New York Times has announced the 1619 Project, and its leftist friends are already lapping it up.  MSNBC hails it thusly: “How slavery has defined America today.”

That’s right.  Slavery can no longer be just a stain on our nation’s past.  Leftists are rewriting history to make it our Origin Story.  Without slavery, they would have us believe, America today would be just another third-world hellhole.  Everything good and decent and remarkable and exceptional about America today is a direct result of slavery.  To make this case, they push the founding of America back from 1776 — you know, the Declaration of Independence and all that other “white patriarchy” stuff — to 1619, when the first African slaves arrived on our shores.

I think it could fairly and accurately be said that progressive policy since the 1960s has created a permanent black underclass in America today.  We see this dynamic manifest most clearly in the large metropolitan areas that have been governed primarily, if not exclusively, by Democrats for the last half-century or better: Detroit; Chicago; St. Louis; Washington, D.C.; Oakland; and, of course, Baltimore.

Progressive policy condemns poor minority schoolchildren to failure factories every day and has for generations.  As progressive politicians tell us “education is the civil rights issue of our age” (and I couldn’t agree with them more!), they’re also fighting tooth and nail to do everything in their power to defeat initiatives that have proven successful everywhere they’ve been tried that could provide at least some of these kids an escape valve from the apocalyptic hellscapes they’ve created, charter schools and voucher programs being the best examples.

The unholy alliance between teacher unions and Democratic politicians should be the greatest scandal of our age.  Why doesn’t the vaunted New York Times do a “project” on that topic?  That’s an endeavor that could actually facilitate meaningful change today and would be far more productive than rewriting history from 400 years ago.  Unfortunately, those at the New York Times no longer have the intellectual honesty to subject themselves to that level of introspection but are absolutely giddy at the prospect of further fanning the flames of racial resentment and division in America today.

Did anyone notice that President, Barack Obama did not send his girls to D.C. public schools?  He sent them to the ultra-exclusive Sidwell Friends private school while letting the voucher program that allowed a few fortunate minority students to attend school with his daughters expire.  I guess these now unfortunate students were returned to the failure factories they thought they had been rescued from.  How traumatic that must have been for them.  None of the Democratic politicians in the cities cited above would ever send their children to these schools.  It is more than hypocritical for these politicians to tell those unfortunate enough to reside in the ghettos they’ve created that the public schools there are fine for your children but not for ours.  It’s immoral.

Social policy that discourages or penalizes two-parent nuclear families has been devastating to black communities.  Progressives bemoan the “income gap” between blacks and whites while simultaneously ignoring the academic “achievement gap” that is largely responsible for it, or worse, inventing “white privilege” narratives to justify and excuse it.  If progressive politicians were more committed to closing this achievement gap than to raking in campaign contributions from teacher unions, they would be all for charters and vouchers.  That Republicans can’t exploit these dichotomies is a subject for another day, perhaps scandalous enough in itself.

Progressives can never admit that the policies and social engineering they’ve foisted on black communities over the last 60 years are why we have the permanent underclass we see today, so they must divert attention from this reality by creating narratives like “white privilege.”  Democratic politicians of all colors have no misgivings whatsoever about condemning generations of poor black Americans to an existence of poverty, hopelessness, despair, and inter-generational government dependence.  Progressives have no choice but to create excuses that cast the blame for large swaths of black America’s lived experience on anything and anyone but themselves.  The 1619 Project is just the latest of these diversions.

The unbearable whiteness of the Obamas’ new house

Has the white half of Barack Obama gone white supremacist? Is the lavish house on Martha’s Vineyard just purchased by the former first couple one of those racist “dog whistles” that progressives so often are able to hear?

Take a look at the startling sheer whiteness of the interior of the house, as featured in The Earl of Taint:

As the Earl notes, most of the brown to be found is where people step on.

If President Trump as purchased a house with so much whiteness, you can bet that the cries of racist symbolism and dog whistles would have been heard throughout the prog internet.

It occurred to me that maybe the Obamas are planning to remodel the place with colors that “look like America.” But then I realized that the Obamas already have been renting the property, and obviously like it so much they decided to buy it.

Or, maybe they miss the White House so much that they want an nearly all-white house? But the interior of then DC White House isn’t anything at all like as white as the Vineyard estate, where you’d be advised to bring your sunglasses inside if you visit.

Left soils itself in toxic vulgarity at the death of David Koch

I have exactly one memory of David Koch and from it, I learned just one thing: He was a nice man.

A few years ago I was at a rich-patron’s type conference at an institution I won’t name and two famous people got into a fight, one of them inexplicably aggressive, the other baffled and furious. Koch, who I could see was there but never actually met, stepped in to smooth the ruffled feathers and act as the peacemaker between the two. No one else knew what to do because the situation was so strange and unexpected. Koch, who wasn’t the guy running the thing, just a participant, is the one who showed the most class.

So with the news of Koch’s death, it was right to feel sadness. He was a person who mattered. He was a bright chemical engineer who had enough talent and enterprise beyond that to create value with his brother with their major company, Koch Industries, employing tens of thousands in well-paid jobs. He also did whale-sized philanthropy, on wonderful things, such as medical centers, fine arts, performing arts, education, donating $1.3 billion that we know about, probably much we don’t. He survived a plane crash in 1991. He endured cancer. He was a victim of the Obama administration’s illegal leaking of his tax information, something no one was ever punished for. And yes, he was a principled libertarian, always exploring new avenues for the development of ideas favoring freedom, even pairing with a far-leftist like Van Jones on prison reform - because it is after all, a libertarian principle to oppose the unchecked power of the state. He in fact unabashedly promoted conservative and libertarian ideas, something those of us who hold those views are forever grateful for. Yes, he was a bit of an anti-Trumpster, but that was probably a function of his disciplined temperament. For someone who did so much good on so many levels — and who showed such strength of character – his death indeed was sad.

But on the left, some of the most barbaric behavior ever seen at the death of the man is now out there. Just look at this revolting collection of spewings:

File under ‘crackpot,’ ‘crank’ and ‘conspiracy theorist.’

PJMedia’s Nicholas Ballasy has curated a choice collection of tweets from no-name leftists on Twitter, with the same kind of grotesque reactions. One of them claims that karma from the Amazon rainforest fire did him in, another is crowing that he’s won the lottery. Others are sinking into a goo of obscenities and scatology, which the left often likes to do, inarticulate in their ravings.

Then there are those who say the man is in hell, something that up until now, the left has argued for decades doesn’t exist. How convenient to have a suddenly invented hell.

Fox News reports that other leftists are calling for the death of the other Koch brothers, or yelling about how ‘hated’ he was (by them, obviously, not normal people). Fox characterized the response as “vulgar” and “vicious” and a “toxic cesspool of negativity.”

Folks, this is the left on display. This is what unhinged, boiling-with-hate creeps look like.

Koch was a good man who would have extended his hand to any of them, and apparently, it makes them crazy. Now they’re soiling themselves, throwing out the most revolting statements — not about Koch, really — but about themselves.

David Koch, RIP.

Did the District Attorney Leak Info to Antifa On Pro Trump Indictments In Portland?

Joey Gibson speaks during a rally in support of free speech Thursday, April 27, 2017, in Berkeley, Calif. Demonstrators gathered near the University of California, Berkeley campus amid a strong police presence and rallied to show support for free speech and condemn the views of Ann Coulter and her supporters. As the purge of the dissenters continues in Portland, there seems to be conflicting and confusing information regarding the indictments that have been handed down to six pro Trump activists who are accused of Riot, Class C Felony, in the aftermath of a brawl that took place on May Day outside of antifa hangout Cider Riot.

Let’s examine the matter.

Joey Gibson, head of the pro Trump group Patriot Prayer, seems to be the focal target of the investigations and charges. Gibson tells The Gateway Pundit that he found out about the charges from Antifa posting about it. “There was a glitch in the system that revealed secret and sealed case information, Antifa got hold of it and posted about it, then 5 minutes later it was gone. I called in to ask about it, and they said there was no warrant. A reporter called the DA to ask about it and the DA said he couldn’t comment. The reporter was dumbfounded and had never seen something like this before. He was hesitant to run the story because he couldn’t confirm anything.”

The reporter was able to confirm the existence of a warrant through a detective at the Portland Police Bureau.

So did the Anfifa activist just happen to be looking on the site, searching for Joey’s name, when the data just happened to accidentally get made public, or did someone inside the DA’s office tip them off?

It’s odd that they told Gibson there was no warrant, because it turned out there was one and that charges were being filed for Riot. Gibson turned himself in on Friday, August 16th, then self bailed out on $500. Deputy District Attorney Bradley Kalbaugh had motioned to seal the arrest warrant affidavits and the arrest warrants themselves on August 12th, before any of the defendants even knew they were being charged with a crime, before any indictment was found, before any witnesses had been ID’ed, before any “victims” came forward, before a grand jury convened to take up the matter.

Multnomah County deputy district attorney Brad Kalbaugh, shown from his days as a public defender

The Gateway Pundit has obtained copies of some of the case documents. Here is the warrant for Gibson’s arrest, issued August 12th. This is the first time Gibson himself is seeing this documentation, as he hasn’t been given anything yet by the district attorneys. We suggest readers save copies of these images in case the courts try to order us to remove them.

Here is a copy of the motion to seal the information. This particular document was filed on the case of Russell Schultz, one of the six defendants. The exact same motion was filed for the cases of all of the defendants.

The grand jury eventually convened on August 15th, and brought forth three witnesses: Christopher Traynor and Jerry Cioeta (both Portland police officers), and Justin Chance Allen, who has admitted that he was an infiltrator, spying on Patriot Prayer.

Here is a copy of the indictment. The indictments read the same for three of the defendants. Three others have additional charges.

One of the defendants, Mackenzie Lewis, was wearing a Go Pro body camera during the incident. That camera, with the Cider Riot content on it, was later stolen during an incident where an antifa terrorist pulled a knife on one of the pro Trump people. Rumor has it the files on that camera from Cider Riot have been obtained by police and are now being used as evidence. From a stolen camera. Illegally gathered evidence. And they’re trying to use it against the guy who had the camera stolen from him.

Both Joey Gibson and one of the other defendants, Russell Schultz, claim they were just standing around while the melee ensued and were not engaging in tumultuous behavior. When the warrant for Schultz went out, apparently district attorney Brad Kalbaugh listed him as a “fugitive from justice” and the US Marshals apprehended him at his home in Washington. Same story with Mackenzie Lewis.

Not a single Antifa terrorist has been charged with anything from the Cider Riot brawl, despite at least two people attempting to make police reports after being attacked by Antifa; One was a student filmmaker who had his camera broken, and was assaulted and pinned to the ground while they poured beer on him. The other was Andy Ngo, who had to shout from the rooftops to get police to acknowledge that he wanted to make a report.

Additionally, not a single antifa terrorist has been ID’ed or charged with the attack on Andy Ngo on June 29th, which happened literally right out front of the police headquarters, with no police officers anywhere as hundreds of people were marching in the streets.

In this video from Stumptown Matters, you can clearly see several antifa terrorists chasing down Gibson and crew, and assaulting the videographer with a baton, while others threaten him with some sort of shank and brass knuckles.

But those are the good guys, according the police and district attorneys. The victims. No charges for any of them.

In fairness though, the Portland “police” actually are trying to identify a whole two of them.

Gibson tells The Gateway Pundit that he hasn’t even seen any of the documents on his case. His next court date is Tuesday, August 27th, 2:10 PM, for an arraignment on the indictment.

Apparently Cider Riot weren’t even the ones who called the police about the brawl, it was a neighbor.

“I feel like people are awaking to the deep corruption,” Gibson says. “With Ted Wheeler as the police commissioner, it’s a conflict of interest. The DA doesn’t charge antifa but charges other people for doing less. This is an act of control.” When asked if he thinks the charges will eventually be dropped, Gibson says “It depends how stupid they are. I won’t plead. This will be a waste of their resources. It’s only a win for them if I don’t fight back.”

Here are some of the other documents that have been obtained by the Gateway Pundit.

We encourage our readers to save these images in case we are ordered to remove them.

Hong Kong: Regime Enforcers Attack Protesters with Batons, Tear Gas

(AFP) — Hong Kong riot police fired tear gas and baton-charged protesters who retaliated with a barrage of stones, bottles and bamboo poles, as a stand-off in a working-class district on Saturday descended into violence, breaking an uneasy peace that had lasted several days.

Thousands of demonstrators, many wearing hard hats and gas masks, marched through the industrial Kwun Tong area, where they were blocked by dozens of officers with shields and batons outside a police station.

Frontline protesters pulled together a barricade of traffic barriers and bamboo construction poles, spray-painting walls with insults directed at the police.

As the afternoon wore on some fired stones from slingshots, prompting a charge from police wielding batons and pepper spray.

Tears gas swept across the road as protesters retreated, leaving a trail of broken bottles and at least one small fire in their wake.

Several of the black-clad protesters were detained as officers swept through, with police justifying their charge on “a large group of violent protesters” who had set fires and hurled bricks at cops.

Tension flickered throughout Saturday’s march, where dozens of the most radical demonstrators known as “braves” had gathered, battle-hardened by a three-month street campaign.

“I understand being peaceful will not solve the problem,” 19-year-old student protester Ryan told AFP, giving one name.

“The government won’t respond to peaceful protest. If I am arrested it is because I come out to speak for justice.”

The city had appeared to have pulled back from a sharp nosedive into violence, with the last serious clashes taking place a week and a half ago just after protests paralysed the financial hub’s airport.

Hundreds of thousands marched peacefully last Sunday, as a key protest group sought to regain the moral high ground in a city shocked at the level of violence.

But Saturday’s face-off underscored the dangerous deadlock into which the city has sunk — with the government unmoving in the face of protester demands, and demonstrators stubbornly refusing to leave the streets.

‘No future’

Protests started against a proposed law that would have allowed extradition to China, but have bled into wider calls for democracy and police accountability in the semi-autonomous city.

Hong Kong’s police force have become the target of the protesters’ ire for their perceived heavy-handed response to the months of demonstrations.

As evening fell, scores of “braves” dug up bricks and tied metal barriers together a few hundred metres from the police as they appeared to dig in for more clashes.

One frontline protester explained his motivation for joining the street struggle.

“The government chose not to solve the problem through communicating with the protesters,” Lueng told AFP.

“I don’t see our future-facing this regime, so gradually I stepped closer and closer to the front line.”

Protesters say Hong Kong’s unique freedoms are in jeopardy as Beijing tightens its political chokehold on the city.

Soaring living costs and few job opportunities have also driven many of the mainly young protesters to the streets.

Older Hong Kongers are divided on the motivation and tactics of the movement which has brought unprecedented chaos to a city once known for its safety and stability.

“The youngsters who come out have put their future at stake… they are doing this for Hong Kong,” said 65-year-old Dee Cheung told AFP earlier, before explaining why he joined the protests.

“There might be some things we don’t agree with, like the ‘braves’ who tend to charge. But let’s think about why they do that?”
