Virtually every week, there seems to be another issue that preoccupies the country. But while our attention is focused on President Donald Trump, Google, Charlottesville, Russia, impeachment, Jeffrey Epstein, the next elections, racism, a trade war with China, the #MeToo movement or something else, LGBTQ organizations are quietly going about their work dismantling ethical norms, making a mockery of education, ruining innocent people’s lives and destroying children’s innocence.
What can you do when populists start, er, populisting? Just hope that they don’t list too far to the Left. Both the New York Times and Politico report overnight that Donald Trump wants to put together a major gun bill in the wake of two mass shootings this month, although just how major remains to be seen:
Mr. Trump on Sunday telephoned Senator Christopher S. Murphy, a Democrat who has been one of the leading voices in Congress for gun control, an indication that the president is interested in pursuing legislation. Earlier in the week, Mr. Murphy had contacted the White House to indicate that he was willing to work with Mr. Trump on the issue, which prompted the call.
The conversation was positive, with Mr. Trump indicating that he was serious about persuading Republicans to act, according to officials familiar with their discussion. And the two agreed to set up a staff-level dialogue this week between their offices and those of Senators Patrick J. Toomey, Republican of Pennsylvania, and Joe Manchin III, Democrat of West Virginia, who are working feverishly to revive the background check legislation they wrote after the Sandy Hook massacre.
The N.R.A., which opposes gun registration in any form, has for years fought against background check bills, arguing that they “don’t stop criminals from getting firearms” and that some proposals “would deprive individuals of due process of law.” If such a bill passed and was signed by Mr. Trump into law, it would be the first significant federal gun safety law in a quarter-century.
Looks like last week’s salute to “meaningful Background Checks” wasn’t a one-off rhetorical device. Trump didn’t call Murphy just to chew the fat or to pose in public; Trump apparently wants to force Republicans to back the Toomey-Manchin bill that the NRA successfully stalled a few years ago. Another sign that Trump wants action, Politico notes, is the point man Trump has assigned to the effort:
Pat Toomey (R-Pa.), Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) and Chris Murphy (D-Conn.). Their staffers have been meeting with Joe Grogan’s Domestic Policy Council and W.H. leg affairs director Eric Ueland. They’ve discussed where Manchin-Toomey legislation stands and what changes have been made. Each senator has also spoken with President DONALD TRUMP privately. The WHITE HOUSE has also had in-person contact with aides to Rep. DOUG COLLINS (R-Ga.), the top Republican on Judiciary.
MULTIPLE PEOPLE INVOLVED IN THE TALKS say Ueland is taking control of the situation — a hopeful sign if you’re looking for progress. We spoke to a number of people on the Hill and in the White House who were hoping this effort is headquartered in the legislative affairs shop, and not captained by the gaggle of other White House officials who try to insert themselves into legislative issues. Ueland and his team have the bandwidth and connections to navigate the Hill.
This could be a strategy of containment by Trump. If takes proactive steps to shift the focus onto expanded background checks, it might take some pressure off of other non-responsive demands such as a new assault-weapons ban or other measures that would infringe more on gun rights. To some extent it’s already working, and Trump knows that voters support the idea of background check changes more than any other measure in dealing with mass shooting incidents. If he stays ahead of that curve, Trump can lead it — or so the theory goes.
On the merits, expanded background checks aren’t terribly responsive either. The issues in most of these shootings involve previous failures by law enforcement to take action that would create the red flags necessary to stop a firearms sale. A less passive form of policing on lower-level incidents might improve matters greatly for the current system of background checks. Another potential improvement would be to actually prosecute those who attempt to buy firearms illegally and get caught by the existing system, a common-sense follow-up on failed background checks which almost never happens.
For those reasons and others, the NRA might not appreciate the nuance of Trump’s strategy. They offered Trump unprecedented support in 2016 on the assumption that he couldn’t get bullied into retreat. Trump is nothing if not transactional, however, as most populists tend to be. What matters to a populist is the current vox populi, not ideological trenches. If the current vox populi says “background checks,” then that’s where Trump will go, especially with all of the incentives of an election cycle now in play. Let’s just hope that the vox populi doesn’t start saying “massive confiscation.”
At this point, gun rights advocates had better prepare themselves for the eventual Rose Garden ceremony, and hope to shape it to keep damage to a minimum.
Addendum: It’s worth noting in the NYT article how Democrats are characterizing their August recess town halls. Voters want action on mass shootings. How many of them are demanding action on impeachment? Thus far, it seems as though voters don’t really care about that, and it will be interesting to see what this cooperative effort does to the impeachment process when House Democrats return.

Obviously, what happened was a political act, rooted in die-hard opposition to any enforcement of U.S. borders. According to the Washington Examiner, it was the fourth such act targeting law enforcement in just a few weeks:

Together, they created the petri dish from which terror attacks on government buildings could go off with such impunity.
From San Antonio in particular, we are seeing the bedrock of incivility and leftist rhetoric already being laid. The city’s congressman, Rep. Joaquin Castro, was last seen doxxing his constituents for donating money to President Trump’s re-election campaign and whether he admits it or not, encourging harassment of the locals he purportedly represents. The city’s archbishop, Gustavo Garcia-Siller, openly declared President Trump a racist, an unprecedented wading into politics for a Catholic prelate, and something he had to apologize for. But the deed was done. The rhetoric was out there, and next thing you know, a quite possibly liberation theology-minded leftist radical shot up the ICE offices in San Antonio.
Thus far, in the wake of this gun violence, the archbishop hasn’t condemned what happened at his own hometown ICE offices. His outrage over gun violence, it seems, is selective.
Nor have any Democratic politicians so far as I have been able to find. It’s hard to prove a negative, but I hunted and didn’t see any outrage from leftists, whether political, academic, or media-centered.
The scary thing about this is not the hypocrisy of these supposed anti-gun violencers, but that the stage has been set for worse acts to follow. If the thugs who shot up the government office can get away with this with no condemnation from the petri dish that nourishes their sick dreams of violence and civil war, what’s to stop them from cooking up something worse. Nobody in the establishment is going to say anything.
That’s what makes this attack a signal that worse is coming.

Google used a blacklist and a blocklist for search results. And those two lists reportedly blocked a large amount of conservative content from the app — including NewsBusters. A Google whistleblower, Zachary Vorhies, shared several documents with James O’Keefe and Project Veritas that were released August 14.

Vorhies released hundreds of documents that reveal Google’s news blacklist, “human raters,” and the corruption and lies of the world’s most powerful company. James O’Keefe III and Project Veritas broke this story on Wednesday.
Vorhies told Project Veritas he went public after receiving a letter from Google, and after he says Google allegedly called the police and FBI to perform a “wellness check” on him.
Vorhies says he sent damning Google internal documents to the Department of Justice Antitrust Division.
And he encourages fellow Google employees to clear their conscience, do the right thing and go public with the deceptive Google practices.

Protests against Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) have escalated in recent months, with two alarming incidents taking place within 24 hours of each other just this week.
First Daughter and advisor to the president Ivanka Trump — who is known to have the ear of the president— is quietly speaking to Congress to help craft passable gun control measures, according to Axios.
Aside from her inside dealings, Ivanka has publicly pushed "red flag" laws and stricter background checks.
Officials from the FBI and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) say that Tuesday’s shootings at two federal facilities were each a “targeted attack.” A shooter fired multiple rounds at two ICE facilities in San Antonio, Texas, early on Tuesday morning.
FBI and ICE officials said a shooter directly targeted two separate ICE facilities in northeast San Antonio at about 3 a.m. on Saturday morning. Officials report shots being fired into a 14th floor ICE office and another building operated by an ICE contractor, the KTSA radioreported.

“All the shots that we have found are on the floors where ICE had offices,” FBI Special Agent in Charge Christopher Combs told reporters during a Tuesday press conference. He said there is no question that the incidents were each a “targeted attack” that “could have resulted in the assassination of a federal employee.”
The field office director for San Antonio ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations blamed the attack on “political rhetoric and misinformation” from “various politicians, media outlets, and activist groups.”
“This attack at the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Field Office in San Antonio is completely without justification,” ERO San Antonio Field Office Director Daniel Bible said in a statement provided to Breitbart Texas. “Political rhetoric and misinformation that various politicians, media outlets and activist groups recklessly disseminate to the American people regarding the ICE mission only serve to further encourage these violent acts. ICE officers put their lives on the line each and every day to keep our communities safe. This disturbing public discourse shrouds our critical law enforcement function and unnecessarily puts our officers’ safety at risk.”
The attack follows threats on Monday from a leftist group in Florida against a contractor that provides detention facilities for ICE, Breitbart News reported. An exclusive video shows Never Again Action, Miramar Circle of Protection Friends of Miami-Dade Detainees, Food Not Bombs Fort Lauderdale, Students Working for Equal Rights, and the Black Lives Matter Alliance of Broward County shouting threats against workers at a detention facility operated by GEO Group.
GEO Group is the same contractor operating one of the ICE facilities attacked in San Antonio on Tuesday.
“We know where all your children live throughout the country … John Bulfin you have kids in [bleeped out], you have kids in [bleeped out],” one protester shouted outside the Florida GEO-ICE facility. “We know everything about you and you won’t just be seeing us here.”
One day earlier, Houston police officers arrested six leftist protesters outside a juvenile migrant detention facility operated by the Office of Refugee Resettlement. The protesters blocked the entrance to the facility. When that did not get them arrested, they moved to the street and blocked traffic, Breitbart Texas reported.
The San Antonio attacks come less than a month after a man armed with a rifle and incendiary devices attacked an ICE-GEO Group detention facility in Tacoma, Washington, Breitbart Texas reported at the time. Police shot and killed the attacker before he could successfully complete his attempt to ignite a propane tank located next to the building. Leftist groups and supporters called the attacker a hero.
“He joins a long list of fallen anarchist martyrs who fought for a liberated world!” @RevAbolitionist tweeted.
The 69-year-old attacker left behind a manifesto calling on others to ignore laws in order to arm themselves, Breitbart News reported. The shooter claimed to use an unregistered “ghost” AR-15 home-built rifle.
“I strongly encourage comrades and incoming comrades to arm themselves. we are now responsible for defending people from the predatory state,” the Tacoma attacker stated. “Ignore the laws of arming yourself if you have the luxury, i did.” [sic]
The 3 a.m. shootings in San Antonio caused zero injuries. However, employees were present in both facilities at the time of the attacks, KSAT ABC12 reported. FBI Special Agent in Charge Combs said he believes the “shooter or shooters … did some research” and targeted the facilities.
“I don’t think there is a question that they knew which floor the ICE office is on,” Combs explained. “To fire indiscriminately into any building is not an act of a protest but an act of violence.”
He said all of the rounds fired into the building were found on the floor occupied by ICE. “Two inches in another direction, we could be talking about the murder of a federal official,” Combs stated.
Police initially detained a person they believed might have been involved, but later released them.
“These shootings were cowardly, brazen, violent acts, absolutely without justification and a threat to our entire community,” Combs concluded. “An attempt to attack federal employees is a federal crime with serious consequences. The FBI will relentlessly pursue every lead in this case to find the individuals who are responsible.”
GEO Group Vice President of Corporate Relations Pablo Perez told Breitbart News, “These are politically motivated attacks. We have been a services provider to the federal government for over 30 years. The fact is that the services we provide in our facilities today are in no way different than the high quality, professional services under the same standards that we provided for eight years under President Obama’s administration. So where was the outrage then?”
A 26-year-old illegal migrant was arrested in Bordeaux this week after being accused of raping a woman while working as a delivery man for Uber Eats.
The Bangladeshi illegal is suspected of raping a 22-year-old student in Paris earlier this month after she had ordered food using the Uber Eats app at around 3:05 am after getting home from being out, Le Parisienreports.
The man arrived at the woman’s apartment building a short time later and noticed that she was groggy as she had previously taken a sleeping pill. Noticing this, he is said to have forced his way in and raped the woman in her apartment before leaving and fleeing the area.
After the woman contacted police to report the sex attack, officers arrived on the scene and found a glove belonging to the attacker and were able to match a sample fingerprint from the glove to the Bangladeshi man.
A source close to the case claims the man bragged to his friends about the incident and even took a picture of the victim. The family of the migrant, however, were not impressed by his behaviour and worked with police to find him.
Uber Eats also worked with police to track down the man who was caught in Bordeaux this week, attempting to board a bus to Spain in an effort to escape French authorities.
The case is not the first time Uber has had to deal with rape accusations against its drivers or deliverymen. A lawsuit from 2017 claimed that thousands of Uber passengers had been sexually assaulted, harassed, or raped by Uber drivers.
In December of that same year, another Uber driver in Lebanon was accused of not only raping a 30-year-old British female diplomat but murdering her as well.
Earlier this year in London, a man pretending to be an Uber driver kidnapped, robbed, and raped a woman after tricking her into thinking he was the driver she had ordered.

In November 2018The Guardian reported on group of Google employees who published an open letter calling on their employer to cancel its plans to build a censored search engine for China. Google employees were very upset that Google’s Project Dragonfly would allow the Chinese government to blacklist certain search terms.
But their blacklist operations were not just in China.
It is obvious that Google, Facebook and Twitter are using their own political blacklists to censor and diminish traffic to prominent conservative publishers and their supporters.
If you search Google for prominent conservative voices including: Mike Cernovich, Joe diGenova, Jack Posobiec or Gateway Pundit you will see hit pieces and biased attacks.
The Gateway Pundit is one of the largest, most accurate and most influential publishers in the country today. But earlier this year if you searched Google for “Gateway Pundit” the first item that popped up was a hit piece on The Gateway Pundit followed by several more links that smeared our website.
You had to go to the fifth item before you could even find a link to our website.
On Wednesday Project Veritas released leaked documents from a Google insider that shows The Gateway Pundit, Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Newsbusters, American Thinker, MRCTV, American Lookout, Twitchy, Daily Caller, Natural News, The Rebel Media, LifeNews, BizPac Review, YoungCons and many others are being targeted, censored, blacklisted and silenced by Google.
It doesn’t matter if you are pro-Tump or a Never Trumper– as long as you are conservative you made their list.
