Lawmaker and visionary Alexandria Ocasio Cortez unveiled her Green New Deal today. It aims to reshape the American economy and usher in an era of peace and prosperity. The goal is admirable. The plan to achieve it, sad to say, is far too modest. It seems that Cortez was so focused on practicality that she lost sight of the dream.
Cortez demands, among other things, a railroad across the ocean, a living wage for all Americans (including those unwilling to work), paid vacation for everyone, healthcare for everyone, the replacement or upgrade of every building in the country, and the banishment of all flatulent cows. These are certainly worthwhile and eminently feasible ideas, but they don’t go far enough.
If I may, I would like to suggest a few additions. This is my New Green New Deal or Green New New Deal:
1. A free ice cream machine for every American (vegan ice cream, of course, because Cortez is killing all the milk cows).
2. Every sidewalk in America converted to a moving walkway.
3. Every staircase converted to an escalator.
4. Every escalator converted to an elevator.
5. A big bridge connecting North Carolina to Morocco, with, like, refreshment stands and stuff along the way. Also, like, there should be probably little cabins or something for people to sleep in.
6. A free blimp for every man, woman, and child.
7. A dog for every person.
8. A foot bath for every dog.
9. Essential oils for every foot bath.
10. No diseases (will cutdown on healthcare costs).
11. Universal joy.
12. A constantly refreshed selection of cereal in every pantry.
13. A lion that can tell me stories and grant wishes.
14. Immortality.
15. A computer type thing like from The Matrix where you plug in and learn how to do karate in five minutes.
16. Bananas that never rot.
17. No more loneliness.
18. Free consensual pony rides.
19. A kind of like robot thing that, like, lifts you out of the bed in the morning and puts on your pants for you and brushes your teeth.
20. All remaining student debt converted into tacos (one dollar of debt equals one taco).
According to my estimates, this plan is extremely affordable so long as we tax everyone at a moderate rate of 6,000 percent. We’d also need to consult with a team of highly-trained genies. I assume Cortez has already assembled that team if she’s planning to provide a livable income and paid vacations to every single person in the country.
And here’s the good news: most Americans will die anyway after Cortez tears down all of our homes and kills our livestock. This will thin the herd (pardon the pun) and make it much easier to provide for the small band of survivors who remain.

House Intel Chairman Adam Schiff (D-CA) announced a sweeping investigation into President Trump’s finances and Russia on Wednesday.
The Democrat Congressman not only hired a team of forensic investigators and money laundering experts, he’s now stealing White House employees to gain an edge in his harassment of President Trump.
Bloomberg reported on Thursday that Schiff has hired Abigail Grace, a former career official at the NatSec Council who left the White House last year. Abigail Grace reportedly has a congressional email address and is listed as working for the Intel Committee’s Democrat majority, according to Bloomberg.
A second White House employee is considering joining Schiff’s team of Communist investigators, however the individual was not identified.
President Trump unleashed on Adam Schiff early Thursday morning, calling Schiff’s investigation “presidential harassment,” and said it should “never be allowed to happen again!”

President of Judicial Watch Tom Fitton blasted Adam Schiff Thursday morning on an appearance with Fox & Friends.
Fitton said Schiff’s investigation is oppo research for the Democrat candidate who will be challenging Trump in 2020.
“It’s a slow-motion coup attempt. They want to overthrow him. And Democrats have this fever dream of impeachment, and Schiff is setting the groundwork for it,” Fitton added.

Typhus is a bacterial infection which is spread by lice, chiggers, and fleas. Usually, those pests find a home on rats. The rats in most cases have a population boom because of excessive garbage. And the disease infects people who come in contact with the rats. That’s what is driving the disease in Los Angeles where an outbreak has been traced to homeless encampments. From USA Today:
Government officials in Los Angeles are considering ripping out carpets in city buildings amid a typhus outbreak that has infected workers.
The disease is typically caused by infected fleas and their feces. It can also be spread by rats, cats and opossums, according to health officials. Downtown Los Angeles has been battling an outbreak since October that was linked to homeless street encampments, officials said.
An NBC News report last year described the conditions in downtown LA where the rats are flourishing:
Wholesale fish distributors, produce warehouses and homeless encampments line Ceres Avenue downtown, creating perfect conditions for rats.
Uneaten food is dumped on the street — a salad platter was recently splattered on the asphalt — and discarded clothing piles up only to be swirled into rats’ nests…
City officials recently declared downtown’s skid row — roughly 54 square blocks where more than 4,000 homeless congregate — a “typhus zone.”
All of this was preventable if the city had simply responded to calls about trash left by the homeless but according to a KNBC report, calls to clean up the mess were often ignored:
People who work in the downtown and Skid Row areas say they’ve complained constantly to the city’s 311 number to pick up piles of trash but the calls often go unaswered.
Records obtained by the I-Team show the Department of Sanitation received more than 2,200 calls to 311 over a two-year period to pick up trash near homeless encampments but failed to respond to more than half of those calls.
The fleas don’t only go after the homeless but anyone unfortunate enough to be in the typhus zone downtown. One LA City worker at City Hall named Elizabeth Greenwood thought she’d caught a bad strain of flu and went to the doctor. A blood test revealed she’d contracted typhus. From KTLA:
“I was in shock. Who thinks of Typhus?” Greenwood said. “I thought of Typhus as something I read about in history books.”
She said she felt so sick, she thought she was going to die.
“It is terrifying to me that going from my car, up an elevator to my office, I can get this disease from a flea bite,” Greenwood said.
Greenwood said she refuses to return to work until all of City Hall East is fumigated.
Typhus has historically been a very deadly disease but which is now relatively rare. For the first decade of the 21st century, the annual number of confirmed cases in California hovered in the teens. But the numbers have been creeping up since 2010 and last year hit a new high of around 150 confirmed and probable cases. Nearly all of the additional cases last year arose in Los Angeles County, with another 20 found in Orange County. No other county in the state reported more than two cases.
Typhus is not transmittable from one person to another, so there’s no chance of it spreading because someone gets infected. Getting rid of the disease should be as simple as cleaning up the trash that allows rats to thrive and maybe killing off the rat population. (The rats can become a food source for feral cats which also carry the infected fleas.) KTLA reports a clean up is now underway:
On Thursday, city workers were seen power-washing the sidewalk outside City Hall, cleaning up piles of trash and filling in rat burrows in the surrounding area.
It’s a start but dealing with the human element of the problem in skid row is something the city doesn’t seem prepared to do.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D., N.Y.) on Thursday criticized U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement and argued in support of undocumented Latinos in the United States, saying the latter cannot be "criminalized" on "Native" U.S. land because they are "descendants of Native people."
The self-described Democratic socialist spoke on Thursday alongside several liberal groups, including MoveOn and United We Dream, a pro-immigration group that calls for ICE to be abolished. She repeatedly slammed ICE, claiming it "repeatedly and systematically violates human rights."
"They do not deserve a dime until they can prove that they are honoring human rights, until they can make a good faith effort to expand and embrace immigrants … Until they can prove good faith to an American ideal, they do not deserve any resources for their radical agenda. We have to have respect for children, respect for families, respect for human rights, and respect for the right of human mobility," Ocasio-Cortez said of the agency tasked with enforcing U.S. immigration laws.
The freshman congresswoman went on to suggest ICE has not given due respect to those who enter the country illegally. The United Sates must "respect for the right of human mobility," she said before adding, "because it is a right."
"Because we are standing on Native land, and Latino people are descendants of Native people. And we cannot be … criminalized simply for our identity or our status."
"We are a nation and land of laws, not just [one where] some people are subject to laws and others are not," she said. "We are a land of laws."
The Office of Management and Budget’s 2010 Census Brief defines "Hispanic or Latino" as a "person of Cuban, Mexican, Puerto Rican, South or Central American, or other Spanish culture or origin regardless of race," per NTK Network.
This isn’t the first time that Ocasio-Cortez has criticized ICE.
MSNBC host Rachel Maddow asked Ocasio-Cortez to respond to a primetime address President Donald Trump gave last month about the situation at the U.S. southern border, prompting her to castigate the president for requesting funding for ICE.
"The president should not be asking for more money to an agency that has systematically violated human rights. The president should be really defending why we are funding such an agency at all because right now what we are seeing is death. Right now what we are seeing is the violation of human rights," Ocasio-Cortez said.
She argued that the primary reason for undocumented immigrants in the United States is "Visa overstay" versus people crossing over the border illegally. She accused Trump of trying to restrict "every form of legal immigration there is in the United States."

President Donald Trump spoke up for life and religious freedom Thursday at the National Prayer Breakfast, two days after making similar appeals during his State of the Union address.
“To ensure that people of faith can always contribute to society, my administration has taken historic action to protect religious liberty,” Trump said during his remarks at the Washington Hilton, later adding: “I will never let you down, I can say that.”
The president has leapt into issues involving religious freedom.
Last year, he signed an executive order to create a council to make recommendations on policy affecting private, faith-based programs. The order was titled “Establishment of a White House Faith and Opportunity Initiative.”
In 2017, Trump signed an executive order to ensure faith-based organizations such as the Little Sisters of the Poor were not forced to choose between exercising their faith and complying with an Obamacare mandate that ordered employers to pay for their employees’ contraceptives and abortion-inducing drugs.
The Justice Department and the Department of Health and Human Services last year took actions to protect Americans’ religious liberty, with HHS creating a Conscience and Religious Freedom Division.
Trump talked Thursday about the need to protect Christian adoption agencies that have faced litigation in states including California, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and the District of Columbia because of their policies on same-sex marriage and other matters related to their religious beliefs.
“We will always protect this country’s long and proud tradition of faith-based adoption,” Trump said. “My administration is working to ensure that faith-based adoption agencies are able to help vulnerable children find their forever families while following their deeply held beliefs.”
Trump spoke for about 20 minutes at the annual event in Washington, which draws religious leader and politicians from both parties.
“All children, born and unborn, are made in the holy image of God,” Trump said to a standing ovation, repeating a line in his State of the Union address Tuesday night. “Every life is sacred and every soul is a precious gift from heaven.”
Also during the State of the Union address, Trump called for Congress to put restrictions on late-term abortion, a priority for many religious voters.
That proposal came after New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed legislation allowing abortions up to the time of birth and Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam, commenting on a similar state bill, openly talked about a mother and her doctors being allowed to abort a baby after it is born. Both governors are Democrats.
At the National Prayer Breakfast, the president also credited faith leaders with helping to pass the First Step Act, a criminal justice reform bill aimed at transitioning nonviolent prisoners back into society.
“Faith leaders helped us achieve historic bipartisan criminal justice reform. They’ve been wanting to do that for many, many years and we all together got it done,” Trump said. “America is a nation that believes in redemption. Every day, the people in this room demonstrate the power of faith to transform lives.”
In the audience was Andrew Brunson, an American pastor freed from two years of imprisonment in Turkey late last year after Trump interceded. This weekend, Brunson will participate in a ceremony he missed when his daughter, Jacqueline Brunson Furnari, got married while he was held in Turkey.
“This Saturday, Pastor Brunson will walk his daughter down the aisle,” Trump said. “Well, that’s great. Was I invited?”
